Great food, Poor timing.

By Meander11085713023 |

The food was very good. I would recommend the Salsa Sampling and Roast Oysters which were enjoyed by the table. The Tio’s Salad was excellent and a very large portion of quinoa. The Lomo Saltado was very good and authentic. The Pollo à la Brasca while good was basically roast chicken. The downside was the poor timing of the items coming to the table. Entrees appeared before appetizers despite our requests that the meal be brought out sequentially. My Pollo entree was served when everyone else had already finished. Great food but the waitstaff either needs to learn when to place the orders or the kitchen needs to recognize that entrees should be served together.

Excellent Peruvian Food

By Foodie Sunny ☀️ |

Excellent service from beginning to end. The chef happened to seat us and provided some great recommendations which we chose for our meal and wasn’t disappointed. The calamari (with special sauce) was top notch, the tuna ceviche was excellent, and the marisco (Peruvian gumbo) was really tasty. Overall a great Sunday lunch experience. Thank you Chef Manny!

Southern/Peruvian Fusion: a challenging test for a restaurant.

By Papo |

As a Peruvian, I have not found a single Peruvian restaurant outside Peru that I have really placed at the level of a Peruvian restaurant in Peru. This is not only in the US, but also in other countries. So attempting to fuse Southern cousine with Peruvian is a brave attempt. Somebody should focus on just Peruvian. So Tio Lucho is, on the positive side, a real cool looking restaurants in a super cool area of Atlanta (Virginia Highlands). Great location. The food is very good, and the menu is set up for sharing , which is for me a great way to introduce different dishes to the clients. Many Americans have no clue of what to order on a Peruvian menu. Tio Lucho does a good job keeping the choices limited to a few main dishes and appetizers. We were a big party so probably we threw off the staff a bit. The waiters could hardly keep up with keeping empty glasses or empty dirty dishes out of the table. We ordered several dishes and we were consuming faster than they were coming back with the new batch of food. So I rated this a low 3 in my head which knock the overall rating. The ceviche was great. So order away! Excellent preparation. We ordered Arroz con Mariscos (rice with fruit of seas) and it was grease and I could not find many fruits of the sea. A lot of greasy rice. Good flavor but needed many more fruit of the sea to really make it Peruvian. I give a 5 to the Lomo Saltado and the Causa. Those two dishes and the ceviche were outstanding. Get the tables covered with enough waiters based on the number of guests and you should be fine. No client should be asking to take dishes away or to ask for new fresh clean plates to taste a different shared dishes. Oh! One more thing: you need to make sure you put enough pisco on a pisco sour. The ones we had were weak lemonades. A 2 rating at best.

Always coming back for more!

This is, hands down, one of the best restaurants in Atlanta! The ambiance and service are top notch but the food is what solidifies this in my Top 2. The menu is ever changing while the classics stay consistent. I also love a good mixed drink and the options don’t disappoint! If you’re looking for down and dirty Peruvian food, this ain’t that. This is a true culinary experience in each visit!

Not traditional Peruvian food

By Yuxi |

If you are looking to eat traditional Peruvian food, do not go here as you will be disappointed. The bartender was congenial, though he did not seem to hear my first request for a pisco sour. I ordered the chicken and it was not hot when served, though I was the only patron in the restaurant at the time.

Great neighborhood restaurant

Great neighborhood restaurant. Weve been in multiple times and everything is tasty. Chicken with french fries ( subsitute for potatoes) is delicious. Ceviche dishes rock as well.
