Tipsy Cow - neighborhood's best

By Chi-Girl |

Tipsy is a small restaurant/bar with a nice atmosphere. Okay for couples, groups (share a large table), booths, outdoor patio, and bar seats. Best burgers around!! My ave. is the Big Texan. Happy hour M-F with 4 rotating beers and a few decent house wines (Arrogant Frog's Cab-Merlot blend is a buy at $5); also rotating food/apps on happy hour. Friendly staff - very knowledge in craft beers and cocktails.

Great delivery service

By mzzshawny |

Ordered delivery through an app called Postmates, due to the fact that I didn't wAnt to leave the pool. Prompt accurate delivery. We Ordered a few apps so I didnt get too much of a food baby. I ordered the deviled eggs, blue crab dip and the steak tips and a burger with no bun and brussels sprout slaw as side because I eat low-carb and it was delicious the only thing I would not give five stars for was that I ordered a medium rare burger and it came well done. Nonetheless it was delicious and the price was very reasonable for the food quality that we received. Very very good

nice vibe, good burgers and beers

By Randa J |

I've here few times and my meat eating friends (and boyfriend) love their burgers. For me (a vegetarian), I ordered the Cali-Beanin which was the worst burger patty I have ever tasted. It was mushy, tasteless, and just boring (see pictures). The sandwich as a whole was good.... I ended up taking out the patty, adding fries and some of the sauces and it was perfect. The fries is amazing! I also ordered the Blue cheese Tots w/o bacon and I really didn't like it. Maybe it's better with bacon, I don't know. The Good Dad Talk shake was so yummy, especially in the hot weather of san fernando valley. Still, it's a nice place and should try.

Loud Cow

By Holly K |

"Good Talk Dad" a ($7) salty Caramel milk shake, in New England we would call this a frappe. I have to say my eyes widened while I calculated the number of calories about to be consumed in this frozen, glass-enclosed mass of creamy, Carmely-side-dripping deliciousness! Not four seconds had passed before I had brain-freeze and a sugar rush! Holy Tipsy Cow! With that damage along came a large portion of hot-served sweet potato fries with a dash of salt and cinnamon for ($5). Unless you have more than one friend to share them with, skip it. The dipping sauce is delightful, tangy and again, a trip to the gym will make your heart feel better after this meal of self indulgence. A vegetarian burger ($12) made of edamame and mushroom - I skipped it but would love to see a bean version (my doctor has told me to skip soy and I am not a fan of mushrooms). My husband enjoyed it with a topping of blue cheese. Figured if we had the milk shake and fries, why not! We did order something healthy, the chopped salad with blue cheese ($10), who knew it would show up with generous portions of blue cheese the size of quarters and half dollars! By the second bite I pushed the blue cheese to the side and ate the vegetables. The noise level is beyond high-energy, we tried talking across our table for two and could not hear one another, that becomes obnoxious. They need to purchase an acoustical decorative wall hanging, something to absorb sound. After 23 years I still do enjoy what my husband has to say to me! If you don't go here! With five tables outside and 15 or so inside you will have a few to choose from and efficient, friendly servers, that you can barely hear!

Great Poutine and Big Texan Burger my GF hasn't stopped raving about it

By Mark T |

My GF has been have a craving for a burger and I was looking to see how a Southern California restaurants approached poutine. We weren't disappointed in either . the poutine had fries but the curds were melted and the gravy and beef layered. MY GF hasn't stopped raving about her Big Texan burger . My mushroom burger was a little disappointing

Family Gathering large party

By Mauidreamers |

Had reservations for 5p but when we got there they were not prepared for us and told us the reservation was for 7:30p they quickly accommodated us despite the miscommunication. Food was very good and everyone enjoyed it. Service was good food was prepared well and came out in a timely manner. Drinks were good but specialty drinks were pricey $11 and up. Lots of craft and draught beers available. They had outdoor seating on Ventura Blvd.

I like eating in restaurants, but not with Dogs!

By Barry684 |

The place is decent and right on Ventura Blvd, it has outside and inside seating, its open and customers sit close to each other. We ordered cheeseTats, half wrapped with bacon and half(3) without. For my taste they were very strong cheese and a bit salty, but my lover girl liked them. Then we also had Brussels sprouts slaw with toasted Hazel Nuts. Light dressing kind of lemony ,but the leaves were row and quit dry with no flavor nor substance in them. I liked the nuts but not the slaw. We ordered a blue cheese Cajon Hamburger, that was nice meet tasty ,juicy, and an interesting combo of the sources . We also ordered the French Fries with the shredded beef and melted cheese on top, that was rich and interesting, I might order it again ,if I go there .the reason I say that, because when we sat down, there was a table beside us on the left with three ladies, and one of them had a dog laying down on the bench( not the floor) and then he wake up and she started feeding him some stuff. To make it worst, while we were in the middle of our meal, another lady sat on our right right next to us, and she had a big bag, that she opened when she sat, and there it was ,a rat like dog( excuse me dog lovers, I do love dogs, but I have to call it as I see it) , she kept smooching the dog, taking a hair Banda off and stroking it then putting the Banda back on and doing that on and on, while a couple of the waitresses stopped by and goo go gaga over it. This on too was sitting on the bench where my daughter and wife were sitting ,and not the floor. I don't mind dogs , but not in restaurants , that close to me, and while you are feeding them. Then if they wanted for dogs, they should say so, and every body will be happy. Our server was nice and friendly, and shared her opinion about the food ,which was helpful . The hostess was cute, but she twice gave me water ,room temperature , and ice tea without the ice. Nobody requested no ice. But she laughed and got us ice twice. I think humans need to distinguish between their needs for company, if they are lonely, between human company ,or animal company, specially, if you are in public place, and there are other people who like human company only, and if they could keep their relationship limited to their own private places or dog parks, it will be very much appreciated by me. Human company, is also very good, they should try it sometimes. As for the Restaurant , they should put some limit of how and when they should care for the comfort of all customers , not just those who can't separate from their own dogs, for eating times at least. Its worth a try, but if I see dogs again there, I might just turn around.

Nice bar/restaurant

By Martha M |

We were looking for somewhere to eat on New Year's Eve and ended up at the Tipsy Cow. We weren't crazy about the "fancy" drinks that we ordered from the menu - the taste just didn't suit us, but the wine and beer were good. Really liked the Nibbles (small plates) menu - lots of interesting choices. Nice urban feel to the place. We were very pleased with our choice - other than last call at 10pm!

Birthday Party Surprise

By 510kerryg |

The office took our fearless leader here to surprise him on his birthday. Great Happy Hour! The truffle mac.and.cheese was delicious! OMGEEEEEE!!!!! Sliders were great! But the salmon tacos were divine!!!!! Super cool hideaway serving excellence.

Late night snacks

By Bryant H |

I visited the Tipsy Cow with some friends; we ordered a couple of appetizer/snacks and drinks. The tacos and chicken wings were tasty, but very small portions.

Great Selection of Beers, Good Burgers

By Max G |

Good brews and burgers. I visited the Tipsy Cow with some friends after work. Their collection of draught beers is impressive. Their burgers are also good. Finding parking on the street can be a problem.

Fun creative food

By LoLo |

This is a great place to come for brunch. We love to order their bottles of champagne that come with beakers of different fruit juices - fun! The noise sitting outside can be a bit much because of Ventura, but the inside is very nice. Love the idea of adult booze-y milkshakes and meals that come with tater tots. The burgers themselves are pretty freaking tasty, too! Surprisingly, I've never had the room or will power for dessert. One note: the food here is HEAVY and RICH. That doesn't have to be a bad thing, but my one recommendation is to stop eating earlier rather than later so you don't get a stomach ache.

Great Potential

By bruce h |

service 0k + food good + except salad... really good !! ambiance good modern + mens bathroom.... gas station level and slippery ....big yuck !!! overall i liked it and would go back... it has great potential !!

Ok food, good prices nice neighborhood feel

By kellyp400 |

There on a "date night" after a movie with my 9 year old. Has an upbeat neighborhood vibe with lots of close tables and happy chatter. Service was slow, the staff and patrons young and friendly. Burgers are what they are known for - the meat is good, but the bun is dry and not up to par. Fries ok, my salad had a honey vinegar dressing that I am glad I ordered on the side as it was far too sweet. Son had a shake that was pretty darn good. Bar drink was fair. good value, could be good food, just need a little more detail.

Third Time Still a Charm

By Econouvelle |

Having been impressed by previous meals at Tipsy Cow my husband and I visited on a Sunday. The restaurant was packed but we managed to find a place at the bar and enjoyed our lunch there. Cody was very pleasant and welcoming. He managed to blend an easygoing manner with efficient and attentive service! I was surprised how quickly we received our meals, considering the crowd. My salmon bahn mi 'burger' was excellent, loaded with arugula and nicely topped with pickled vegies. Parking is sometimes a challenge around Ventura Blvd., but at least it's free on Sundays.

Buzzed Bovine?

By RevLovebrew |

Not sure where the name came from, so I'll venture a guess and imagine that with several dozen craft beers and whatever else, one might get a tad tipsy while noshing a cheeseburger. If I got it wrong, someone will have to let me know. In any event, the draw for me initially was that I heard Tipsy Cow had cheese curds. I hadn't had those since visiting Wisconsin, so here I went. Our experience was excellent. Initially, the fried cheese curds weren't they way I had originally tried them, but then, this is a different place. All the same, they were good, but we weren't keen on the first dipping sauce served with them. Having apparently been overheard talking about it, someone showed up at our table with two more sauces to try, and that nailed it. What service! We had some excellent beer, as the choices are endless, and the waitress apprised us of an off-menu brunch item: Chicken and Waffles. Having been on a roll with this dish lately, I said "yes," and I was so pleased that I would have to say they are the best I've ever had. The chicken was moist, the waffle was just right, and served with the dish were both syrup and gravy! Fantastic. I wish the waffle was a little more whole-grainy, as this is California, but the place is great all around, and I didn't see any empty seats. Thumbs up!

Very yummy šŸ˜‹

Great little Eatery

By Doug M |

This Eatery has great food, Imy wife and I had the best Burgers in LA while visiting friends here, Great service and very good choice on the menu, Highly recommend this spot.

Good food and service

By Paula L |

Three of us at late dinner -first time. Very good burgers (we all had a different one -- blue, lamb and turkey). Buns are extremely fresh, great thin fries be sure to ask for chipotle ketchup). We had deviled eggs for appetizer - delish. Nice bar with big selection. Two televisions. Patio dining. Wait staff and hosts were very pleasant. Only suggestion is to cut back on salt. I will add it at the table if I need more but I can't take it away. Substantial portions.

Lovely Lunch!

By VNYNY |

Other than the music being too loud (we were right under the speaker), everything was perfect. The service was great and our lunches were delicious - black bean burger, hamburger, turkey burger. This place gets super crowded at night. We would definitely come back to Tipsy Cow!

Best happy hour in the Valley (including late night happy hour)

By Chris L |

Their happy hour is basically all afternoon and also after 10 p.m. Great cocktails (especially the Tipsy Mule). The happy hour food menu is also great. After years of research, my scientific, gastronomical conclusion is that this is the best happy hour in the Valley.

Best burger i have had without bacon

By riley c |

I went here for the first time, really enjoyed it. My Fiancee and I shared a quattro (4 cheese) burger, poutine fries, & a "Whats Happening Hot Stuff" Milkshake. The tomatoes on the burger had a balsalmic on them that gave it a great flavor. Food was all cooked perfectly. I will be back. Hope this helps. Best- Riley

Not great, not bad, just okay

By Pat B |

A nicer atmosphere than most fast food places at twice the cost and double the noise. I went there looking for something special and didn't find it.

Meaty burger

By JR Lloyd |

The Big Texas Burger had a lot of meat to it and made for a hearty meal (although it was a challenge to eat). I liked their fries as well.

Decent burger joint

By tygerstile |

Been looking forward to trying this place out,  finally made it here with the family the other day. We came across some mixed views on our visit.   Our server was pretty good.  I noticed that she was the only one serving the whole place at the time.  She was attentive enough to have our drinks filled and checked on us often enough.  We started off with the Bleu cheese tots which were awesome.  I'm a bacon lover and this dish did not disappoint. I ordered the Big Texan which was very flavorful. The pork belly was a nice compliment and they added just the right amount of sauce to the burger.  It wasn't drenched in bbq sauce so it did not overpower the taste of the meat. Onion strings went along nicely.  My only knock would be to crispy up the bacon a bit.  My wife ordered the Tipsy Style burger.  She said it was good but not great. I took a bite and it definitely was not flavorful like my burger.  Something was throwing off the taste,  I just couldn't pinpoint what it was.  The shoestring fries were great,  and the dipping sauces were a nice compliment.  I've always been a big fan of garlic aioli and it went well with the fries.  The two big girls ordered the mac and cheese. Let me start off by saying these two girls love mac and cheese. And when I say love,  I mean they 'love' it.  Both of the girls did not finish thier mac and cheese,  which leads to believe that they did not like it.  It didn't even look like they ate half. My wife tried it and she said it was on the spicy side. She liked it but for the girls it may have been too much.  All the girls did get down on the fries though.  Overall I enjoyed the visit and the food. Maybe we can try some other dishes on the next visit.

A nice change of pace

By cannonater |

Went here with some friends after an event.. I had the tri tip steak appetizer and it was equivalent to a meal. This place is famous for burgers and everyone I was with raved about theirs. Fun energetic environment.

Good beer and food

By Romeo909 |

Place has excellent food and beer selection. It is a bit noisy and seating is jammed and uncomfortable. Service can be slow at times. This restaurants needs a bigger and better location. Price is very reasonable so we keep coming back. I am hoping they do well enough to move to better digs.

Don't go if you get aggravated about your food order

By msft1 |

Met some friends at the Tipsy Cow in Sherman Oaks. Sat outside on the sidewalk along busy Ventura Blvd. Our server was friendly, but the rest of them - meh. And it took the kitchen staff 3 times to get our order right and correct cold food. (Burgers are supposed to be hot - I think!) Food is ok, prices fair for this type of place

Fun...

By GeneT60 |

Real good! Had their smoked buffalo garlic wings. Fabulous! Smoked and spicy. Could not really taste the garlic. But fabulous. Shroom burger with chipotle was real good! Noisy as can be. Service is good. Good selection of drinks!

Amazing happy hour in Sherman Oaks

By Grant Alexander |

I had an amazing visit to Tipsy Cow , such a great place right in Sherman Oaks off if the most lively part of Ventura Blvd. This is my new favorite place to go The Valley. Joseph recommended the Mac and Cheese and it was really good. It felt great to get such a warm welcome upon arrival as well. Joseph was kind, so helpful going way above and beyond to make sure my experience was exceptional. I have absolutely no complaints at all I highly recommend everyone to check this place out for a great happy hour as well as a fun filled weekend environment.

Best staff in town!

By Zahran Z |

This is a bar where you really feel welcomed. Excellent staff who are really friendly and helpful. Good happy hour deals on drinks and food. The cocktails and food in excellent.

Best burgers ever!!

By DCW711 |

Sat at a 'communal' table which proved to be alright as there was a lot of activity going on and a fun atmosphere! Heard the hamburgers were the best and I have to agree! When you can make a hamburger, exceptional, it is worth mentioning to as many people as possible! Also was told to try the spiked milk shakes and that was an unexpected treat!! Would, certainly, enjoy going there again! Next time I will bring more friends to enjoy this experience with me!

Nice burger place. Nothing special

By vageliskos |

It is a very decent burger place with a nice selection of burgers and a lot of salads. It is nothing really special but very good.

Very good.

By Rigel54 |

We were headed for Blue Jam Cafe, which turned out to have an hour wait. We walked down the street to the Tipsy Cow and were seated immediately. It was by now lunch time. My smoked wings were very good. A decent hamburger, a very good Benedict, avocado toast and drinks rounded out the meal. All quite good, and good service.

Great happy hour 3-7 Monday -Friday

Love this place ! Craft beef -great cocktails and amazing doughnut desert. Happy hour menu is satisfying and delicious. The beef tacos are small but filling. Basil hummus with grilled bread is fantastic. Music is great as well -Smiths and New Order playing.

Upscale Burger Joint With Beyond Burger for Vegetarians

By rickpoet |

Tipsy Cow is a nicely designed, comfortable and intimate space offering upscale comfort food with a couple of vegetarian options. I had an Old Fashioned to drink. It’s their only whiskey-based cocktail on the menu and whiskey is my go-to. I thought it was a little harsh tasting relative to other Old Fashions I’d had recently and nearby but points to them for the single large cube of ice in the middle. You can get any burger with a plant-based Beyond Burger patty available. My wife got one lettuce-wrapped. (They also offer a gluten-free bun) She thought it was a little overcooked (She likes her beyond burgers juicy and pink.), but generally enjoyed it, including the spicy ā€œ1000 sauceā€ it came with. She had ordered it without onions and it came with them anyway. (ahh the curse of special orders…) She thought the butter lettuce was nice as a wrap. I had The Tipsy Style Burger, subbing bbq sauce for the 1000, with a beyond patty. I liked it. I got tots on the side because I wasn’t in the mood for thin-fries or sweet potatoes. Our server was nice and dealt with all of my jokes about the decor. (The walls were decorated with knives and a big roll of butcher paper…my mind wandered at the possibilities.) The atmosphere was cool with good music playing and there were families present letting us know they were kid-friendly as well. Also on the menu for vegetarians are a few sides, Truffle Mac and Cheese, Blue Cheese Tots, Fried Cheese Curds and Buffalo Cauliflower plus salads. (The Beyond Burger is the only main option, but that’s okay since this is primarily a burger place.) You can get shakes too to blend your desire to be in an upscale new-American burger joint that offers a nouveau 50’s diner menu. Though there are plenty of places up and down the boulevard that offer one plant-based patty or another so, although we had a fine experience here we’d probably try other places before coming back.

Good beer, Good Food

By Renee M |

Really great pub. Food is reasonably priced and great. Great selection of beer and wine. Overall, a good eating experience.

Still full

By Christopher S |

Ate here on a quick trip through LA. The specialty burgers that they offer are amazing. I had The Reuben. One of the tastiest burgers I've had in a while. Great selection of craft beers and an upbeat atmosphere. You will not leave hungry.

Decent sandwiches, good service

By Mark J |

This is a newish restaurant in Sherman Oaks where I met a friend for dinner. I found the burger I had to be good but not great. The Blue Cheese burger overwhelmed everything else. My friend like his sandwich but wasn't something to really rave about. The wings appetizer and sauce (1 choice) were pretty average. Service was efficient and friendly. I'm going to go back and check out their Happy Hour offerings as they looked to be a good deal.

Second chance

By Got2go2win |

Ordered the organic burger Big Texan. bbq sauce, bacon bits, pork belly, straw onions on sesame bun. It was just to dry.Concept is good but lacking in flavor. Will go back however because they have a fun menu to explore and maybe talk with the server about there best choice.

great breakfast

By Randa J |

I loved their pancakes. It was fluffy and tasted really good. They also offer soy/vegan butter and sugar free syrup. Coffee was a little dark for me.

Great local pub with top notch eats

By JWaschkau |

We love this place. Great pub setting which is family friendly--take the kids in the afternoon and early evening for gourmet burgers, tacos, fries, milkshakes and more. There's an excellent beer and drink menu for adults. And the menu is not to be ignored...a ridiculously good Poutine is our favorite--homemade fries smothered with beef, cheese and a sauce that is too good to be called gravy. Terrific sweet potato and regular fries...original and delicious fresh salads...and creative burgers are as good as they get anywhere. Happy hour is a fantastic time to come and try all of the appetizers for a discount. We like to go a couple times a week--super friendly staff makes this place feel like a second home.

Great big burgers, nice vibe

By cdkassotis |

Was recently here with friends and got the Big Texan burger, very tasty. We also got the fried pickle nibbles which were fantastic (and also quite large). Burgers don't come with fries, so if you want some be sure to order them separately, though an order of fries is more than enough to split between 2+ people. Definitely worth a visit - very unique little place!

Fun neighborhood restaurant

By Lisa P |

Great new addition to the neighborhood! Food and service is good! The donuts are to die for! Happy hour is a great deal.

Service here is fantastic

By TurkeyTravelingGirl |

Stopped in on a Ventura happy hour crawl just in time to order some drinks and some GREAT happy hour bites! This place has just tremendous service, making the whole experience so fun. Food is really tasty, and happy hour is a super bargain. A stand out of a multi stop night!

Unique burgers

By Dawn R |

Went here for lunch with the family. Cool little restaurant on the main drag with outdoor seating. All staff we came in contact with were friendly. Lots of good salads and burgers. The grilled garlic hot wings were very good. Burgers were tasty, only thing is we asked for medium to medium rare and they came out well. Their house made vanilla lemonade is delicious! Everything was fresh and very nicely presented. Waitress was great!

Unique and Yummy!

By sami855 |

This is a nice little gem. The entrance is a little different and when we first walked in we weren't sure if we were supposed to wait to be seated, seat ourselves, or what. There doesn't seem to be a true door, it's similar to walking straight onto someone's patio and entering through a sliding glass door. It's more inviting than intimidating though. The server greeted us and we sat in her section. She was sweet, all smiles, and so informative. When I try a new restaurant I like to get the servers opinion on what to try--ideally they should be familiar enough with the menu-- and she was so helpful! I wound up geting the Mac Daddy; this is a wholesome hamburger with mac and cheese, provolone and pork belly. I got it on a bed of arugula instead of bun and it was awesome! Everything my party tried was absolutely delicious. Deviled eggs were a fun twist on a classic, the donuts were the perfect amount of salty and sweet, and the steak tips left you wanting more and more! Word of advice: don't leave without getting a tipsy milkshake! I left this place full and happy. Can't wait to try this place again!

Tipsy Cow is Burger Paradise!

By Bobbjac |

Ventura Blvd is loaded with great restaurants. One of those great restaurants is Tipsy Cow (http://tipsycowla.com/). Tipsy Cow is 4-5 short city blocks down from the Sherman Oaks Galleria. If you are shopping or seeing a movie at the galleria, I suggest you walk down to Tipsy Cow. Tipsy Cow is burger paradise! If you love burgers, Tipsy Cow is a must eat. Their burgers are more upscale and will appeal to both basic burger lovers and foodies alike. Basic burger lovers consider burgers as art and more upscale foodies will consider Tipsy Cow burgers as HIGH art. Tipsy Cow describes their burgers as "freshly ground burgers made with angus beef, all natural free-range, raised as vegetarians, always humanely and sustainably raised, no hormones, and no antibiotics." If the meat is good, the final product is usually good. The first burger you should consider is the Mac Daddy. Whatever mad scientist decided to add mac-n-cheese and pork belly to a burger should have a cooking school named after him/her. If the Mac Daddy is too decadent, try the Big Texan burger. The Big Texan is made with tillamook cheddar, bbq sauce, bacon nibbles, pork belly, and onion straws. The pork belly is healthy slice, not some wimpy bandaid size. The burger is not dainty, but big and yells "come at me bro"! If you have room post-burger, their milkshakes look tasty. Overall Tipsy Cow is fantastic place with great food with good prices.

Will be back for Happy Hour

By freemaee |

Came for a glass of wine and an appetizer with a friend around 8:30pm on a Friday. It was packed, but we were able to get seats at the bar. The bartender was the funniest, cutest, most knowledgeable that I've seen in a while. The food was better than most bar appetizers. It was a bit too noisy , but a great place to grab a drink and move on.

Good food, relaxed atmosphere, great beers

By socali123 |

Juicy burgers, delicious bright brussel sprout cole slaw, tons of great beers available. Patio seating is nice. Relaxed kind of place that we wished we still had on the Westside.

Great burger, but a mule kicker - nah.

By Jack S |

Started off badly, had the drink special, the Moscow Mule kicker with their home made ginger beer, but it tasted like lemonade, their other drink special. So we switched to wine. We each had signature hamburgers. Mine came with bacon, fatback, and onion strings. Too good to be true, but it was!

Outdoor seating

By Ticket2Venture |

I went there for Happy Hour with friends and sat outdoors. The restaurant is pretty small so outdoors is less busy. The hamburgers are gourmet and I had a salad which was a very good portion. You can add protein to any salad. They have a good drink list for HH until 7pm. Would recommend.

Loud, Cool Vibe, Good Service, OK burger but the rest was good

By Daily Runner |

Very noisy place and eating outside you get a lot of road noise, but if you don't mind these it's a fun place with good servers. My salad was awesome. Sadly the burger was just ok. Well prepped but I thought the beef itself oversalted and not particularly flavorful. Still a fun place if your in the neighborhood.

Outstanding for Brunch

By Don C |

Probably the best Bloody Mary I've had in years, and the Cheese Steak Scramble omelette was outstanding. My wife and friends were satisfied with their choices, but consensus was that my dish was the overall winner.
