So. Cool. I felt like I was walking in to my high school boyfriends room. There are cool rock posters all over the walls, a table that you can sit on the floor and eat if you're feeling adventurous. The restaurant is pretty full- looks like a popular place for people to bring their dates. I ordered the Pad Thai and the vegetable curry and OMG I can not get enough of the curry. Its extremely flavorful and creamy and goes great with their black rice. The staff is very friendly and has a very chill vibe. They don't rush you out and stay open until 2AM. So its a great place if you need to get some work done or grab some late night food!

My friend and I went to Toi on a trip to UCLA and really liked it! The food was really good! Just loved how they have it decorated, reminded me of Austin. I'm not an expert on Thai but have tried a ton of restaurants and this definitely ranks in my top 5. We saw Sarah Silverman while we were there! Its not fancy, just a place to chill and have some good food, and possibly see some celebs! Definitely will be back! Good prices too. We parked around the corner at a meter.

I have been going to TOI for very many years. The ambiance is great, very colorful and quirky; it has not changed at all. What has changed is the quality of the food and the prices. The portions are quite large but very bland nad not as authentic as they once were. The only redeeming quality is the staff, always great. What’s with charging $15 for a small soup??? I guess I’m not going back.

I'm a New Yorker, so yeah, I'm a bit of a snob and I'm also pretty no-nonsense. The West Coast laid back attitude is lost on me. I was walking around the neighborhood while visiting and saw this place. The vibe looked really great: divey, scruffy, like something out of 1987. I went in and ordered a lunch special. The waitress was great, and I kinda fell in love with her, thanks to her sweet nature and friendliness. Then I got my food, and it too was utterly fantastic! No, this isn't gourmet Michelin star vibe and food, but have you ever been to Thailand?! One of the best meals I had in Thailand was cooked by some lady who had a shack on a bridge that I was motorcycling across. Anyway, I went to Toi twice during my LA visit, because it's so great.

Best Thai food ever! You have to try the curry with black rice. Or the Thai noodles. The portions are so big three people can eat it!

Really cool place with cool Rock 'n' Thai food. The menu has a lot to offer, even if you're on a budget. The portions are large and everything looks fresh and exciting. Friendly staff and a wide variety of local and domestic beers, which is good if you ordered something spicy!

We went there the other night and were not to happy with our meals. The Thai iced tea is great. My cousin got the pad Thai and he had to send it back because it didn't taste very good. Instead he got beef and broccoli but it was very soupy. I got the chicken and coconut milk sweet and sour soup and it was very sour and not what I expected. I have been here before and the food was good but I guess we went on a bad night. The atmosphere is awesome in here its a rock n roll Thai food place and the decorated walls and ceilings are cool. It's not authentic Thai food though its very Americanized. Don't think I will go back.

The staff was very friendly and sweet to arrange for a cake and candle. The food and the atmosphere was good.

Good service. Good for lunch, great for dinner and drinks. Their special brown rice is something else. Make sure to try the spicy seafood special fried rice. The music & movies playing in the background add to the vibe. Can't wait to visit again!

Great for late night dining, love the purple rice!

This is a movie and music lovers dream. A Bedouin palace of movie posters and odd art. Enjoy the rickshaw in front. Yes, it has wonderful Thai food, if it was stuffy I am sure that it would get better reviews for it's food. Be that as it may, the place has a good variety of beer, can make anything veggie to meat laden, all good to great. plus the place stays open late, yes, like after you can't drink any more and need to eat late. Great for couples and scaring the old folks in your family, in town on a visit. I highly recommend it! I have been there dozens of times, sorely miss the baked on premises cake and homemade coconut ice cream... Hire that woman back!!!!

Awesum place! The food & service were fabulous. If you are in the area, this is a must😃The Thai toast is a great way to start your meal.

The Menu is online so I cannot complain about the expense prior to ordering which is a good feature to have, more places should have it. If I order on a Saturday night after 6 it's like a 45 minute delivery period to me up by the Hollywood Bowl. I've never actually gone yet though,

I went with some friends to Toi for lunch yesterday. The atmoshere is fun with rock n roll posters and photos decorating the walls and ceiling. This is a cool, casual restaurant with rock music playing in the background. The staff was exceptionally nice to us and all of us really enjoyed the dishes we ordered. I had the Thai Bar-b-que chicken and I could not believe how much food was on the plate. More than I have ever been served in a Thai restaurant before. My chicken was excellent. Tasty and falling off the bone with a great bar-b-que flavor. I will definitely go back when I am in the Hollywood area.

Toi is located on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. There is no dedicated parking lot so expect to use the metered parking. You walk in and the atmosphere is really laid back and a very eclectic decor of rock memorabilia to paper mache of a chupacabra. There isn't anyone near the front door to seat you so you have to walk through to the back to get seated. The staff is friendly but their alternative look and style may intimidate people who are not used to that. Many people come here after events because they are open till 4am. The food is better than most and have not experienced anything bad food wise. A rookie can always order a usual Pad Thai or Pad See Ew if they aren't sure what to get. The food is served family style so coordinate with friends to get various dishes. The reason I do not give them a full 5 star is because of the lack of parking; the awkward method to get seated and lastly the limited amount of seating available.

pretty decent food. awesome décor, but the waiter called the drinks "drinkypoos"

Such a great place....great food and very reasonable prices. Favorites include pad Thai and fried rice.. Thai tea is yummy also.

Funky art and atmosphere, delicious food in generous portions to share. Great variety to choose from. Try it!

awesome. great food, awesome place-

I'd in LA this place is a must. The food came very quickly, very tasty ad the atmosphere at this place is brilliant.

Delicious delicious delicious! A great atmosphere! If you are looking for Thai food in this area, this is the place to be!

Great atmosphere, surrounded by music relics. Open late and great, healthy food. My favorite is the honey duck.

Used to come here on dates and after going to rock clubs in the early 90's a bit 'grungy' not so pretty in daylight but good food ( Thai toast is delicious) and very cool atmosphere especially late at night. Liked being able to sit on the floor listening to old Bowie

Love the Toi on Sunset for two reasons: Great thai food and stays open until 4AM while all the others close at 10 PM. My fav dishes are the tom kha kai soup and the duck.

This restaurant is definitely hip. The rock decor was a hit and we certainly had a fun dinner. Food was good but the vibe is what is memorable.

Favorite Thai. If you are young and still out in Hollywood, this should be one of your regular stops.

I have coming here for many years, it was our before movie place ,or after dancing place. The food is Thai American and it's fantastic. My order starts with Thai tea, Thai Toast, then the main meal of brown rice, which has a deep purple color and Toi pasta, just thinking about it is making me salivate. The atmosphere is fun, with movies, and music going, colorful posters on the walls, and tables makes for great conversation starters f you are there on a first date. Also great for all ages, ive gone with my mom, friends, and family everyone always has a really good time, and always come out stuffed. Staff has always been pretty friendly as well.

We love Toi and eat here every time we come to LA. This time we took our teen niece who is vegetarian - GREAT selection of suitable meals and the staff are willing to adapt dishes as need be. She loved her veggie noodle dish. I had the roast honey sesame duck which was wonderful. I love the decor - it feels as if the place hasn't changed since the 80s and that's a good thing! Will be going back next time we're in town.

I ate here frequently when we lived in LA 17 years ago. I visited 8 years ago and again in 2022. Experience, food, service and decor is EXACTLY the same. Very good tai food, lots of options, spectacular rock art on the walls and good service. Pros: The Brown rice is a must! Green curry is also excellent. The veggie soup perfect. But you MUST have the Tai Toast! If you like music and Asian food, you have to visit Toi. Family friendly if you come early (they were playing Disney’s Monsters Inc on the big screen on a Thursday at 6PM). Cons: If you are uncomfortable with Dive bars, this is NOT the place for you. It’s dark and the bathrooms purposely look like those in CBGBs.

Go if you want rock and roll thai food, but otherwise not really memorable.

We sat by the Pulp Fiction poster signed by Quentin T. Loved the grungy atmosphere and the food is quite good/reasonably priced - loved the Thai spaghetti and wish I could figure out the sauce. My son loved the Pad Thai - can't figure that one either (very orange - perhaps a lot of tamarind and less fish sauce) - I am a Pad Thai lover!

late night thai food to cartoons and the pixies!!

Even with a resv. we had to wait about 30 min. There was so much talk about the restaurant that I think I was expecting more. Our service ok. Food ok. VERY loud. I feel you could find a better Tahi in LA

Used to order lunch here. Good friend rice.

Such a fun place to eat! You don't know whether to look at the décor or the food as there is so much going on. Food is delicious but be warned the portions are massive you need to order strategically or you won't finish it. They are happy to bag the remainder up to take away which sadly we couldn't do as going out straight after. Definitely give it a go. It's a low cost restaurant with great service and an even better funky vibe.

... but only just. Simply rather disappointing on the food front but acceptable. Good staff and rock music with music decor and huge portions made up for culinary shortcomings.

This fun little Thai restaurant is just outside of the most populated parts on Sunset Drive. Unique food and atmosphere give it a fun flavor. The dishes were supreme and the staff was attentive. Late hours made this a great first stop when just getting into town.

A little older. Fun atmosphere. Good Thai.

We ate here at their low table and had delicious Thai food. I love the kitschy decor and rock and roll stuff everywhere. The place has a lot of personality, which was matched by the banter with our waiter. It was a great place to eat! It's classic Rock n Roll LA.

Good food, fun atmosphere, and nicely priced lunch specials.

Located in the heart of Hollywood, Toi On Sunset offers oustanding Thai in an eclectic atmosphere. The Thai toast, Pad Thai, Pad CIU, and Yellow chicken curry were delicious. However, the service was only adequate. Parking is a challenge because there is only street parking available on nearby residential streets. Overall, Toi On Sunset is Recommended for the delicious Thai cuisine in a rock and roll atmosphere.

The food is pretty good, but it's the fact that they are open til 4am that is the best part. The crowd is always diverse and interesting. The music is loud and the atmosphere is a great taste of Sunset Blvd.

this place is soooo overrated.

Cool decor and decent thai food at a very reasonable price

Great Thai food in a funky atmosphere.

Open late. I love everything they make.

My wife and I have eaten there at least 10 times since moving to LA two months ago. We get the same thing each time, with a rare occasion of ordering something new. I get the Pineapple fried rice, with Brown Rice. She gets the chicken pad thai. We love the atmosphere. There is Rock and Roll items all over the place. Most weekends they will be showing a concert dvd on their big screen. The staff is always super nice, and the food is always great. The food is large portions. Highly recommended.

Visited on a quiet weekday evening. Liked the decor- very rock n roll, service was polite & efficient & the food was tasty with good portion sizes. We were there during their drinks happy hour 5-7pm, and so our Singha's were half price.

I moved from Los Angeles a few years back. I was just there on a vacation. I arrived into town super late and was starving! I was overjoyed to KNOW that they were open really late! Walked in and it just felt like home. AMAZING FOOD, really good service. JUST YUM!

a little bit of real in the town that is so tinsel. decor, food and service great. ask for the jug of beer and induge in some thai cuisine made with a bitta heart.

I love this little joint it is a must go every time I am in town. Great food, quirky atmosphere, amazing staff. The absolute perfect little joint to experience Hollywood☺️

Before I started eating healthy I thought this place tasted like booty cakes. Now I like it. Do the math.

Rock and Roll Thai food. Great after a night at the bars or for any reason whatsoever.

It's a great late night bite. The food is good, not stellar, but good stuff. Basic Thai with no frills and casual vibe.

I've been coming here for almost 20 years, and it's subtle flavor a haven't lost their charm. The ambiance is unique (Rock & Roll Thai), the staff cool and the food, great.

great

Simple but yummy food, mostly Thai but also Chinese and Vietnamese dishes are on the menu. Superfriendly staff, especially the older man- who I think is the owner. Good value!

This is Thai influenced food.....but not quite the usual style. This seems like a bit more modern, trendy take on the cuisine. Loved their version of pad thai and all the dishes we tried. Amusingly funky decor.

WARNING!!! If you like being treated rudely, if you like eating poor to mediocre food, if you like worrying about the intentions and integrity of your server and the owner of an establishment, then THIS is the place for you!! I just had the misprivilege of meeting the owner, Michael, an abberant, antagonistic, disgusting FOUL human being. WOW, after nearly 15 years of patronage, (only because of one item, which the quality has greatly declined ); had I known about him, I would have NEVER come back. After having been rudely treated by a few different members of the "waitstaff", for no apparent reason, on a few seperate occasions, I decided to talk to the owner. Like I said, WOW, he was bullying and antagonistic (I'm 5'1, he's 6'1 he got right in my face'), and said to me ( and I quote verbatum); that he didn't care how long I'd been coming here, that the customers are rude, and if I don't like it, I shouldn't come back.!! (and I have been nice to everyone, everytime I've gone in there). Obviously,I'll never set foot in there again, and you shouldn't either! Clearly , he doesn't care about his customers, nor does his unhappy, dark staff. This is the type of unintegrous, lowlife "man" (Ha!) that will spit in your food, take your credit card information, and god only knows what else. You can see Rock and Roll Decor at a musuem, if you're coming here for a good meal, and a pleasant dining experience, you are wasting your money. With so many amazing Thia food restaurants in the area (Galanga Thai, Chan Dara, Palm Thai, Jitlada, and Suset Thai, just 2 doors down, to name a few) its mind boggling that "Michael" would treat any customer (not to mention a long time one) in that fashion. They also charge .75 cents for hotsauce on TO GO orders, NO OTHER THAI RESTAURANT ANYWHERE!!! does this, which makes him a sheister, to boot! Pure nastiness!

Good Thai food, good beer and good music. nuff said

1 of my favorite Thai restaurant in LA. Open until 4am, which is a +. Great food & the atmosphere is very rock & roll!

Best Thai restaurant in LA. There is many places in the city that are rated very high but have ended up an disappointment but Toi always serve high quality food and contribute with amazing service. I always try something new and only once have I not liked the food because of my choice but even then I was asked if they could do anything for me. The Atmosphere is also super cool as it is rock and roll inspired with many different scenes. The portions are also large so you can usually share 1 dish on two people.

I keep going back to Toi. I have tried many others but the flavors are on point, the ingredients are superior. Toi always delivers that Thai comfort food experience.

Mmmmm and fun

I ended up here after 3 other places i tried on a Saturday night were packed. Not that I have a problem with Thai food - it was on my list. If it on your list - i recommend. The food is typical good thai - but with huge portions. Being from Canada I am not used to such big portions and could not finish (they were willing to box it up). Service was very attentive. I had the cold spring roll which was Awesome, and the green curry chicken which was like most green curry i get - yummy but not awesome. Overall great atmosphere with good food.

$7.95 lunch specials are really a fine deal; two could split the plate of Pad Thai, or if you order the barbequed chicken (as I did) you can take half home. Plus of course the great fun/casual rock n' roll atmosphere, friendly staff, and attractive/quirky fellow customers.

little too trendy for me thai restaurant, but decent food.

one of my fav after-club thai places outside of thai town (open til 4am). surprisingly very good, but maybe i was just drunk.

Great for late night dining because...it's open that late.

rocking thai. at 4 a.m. no better place.

Toi was a late night stop, chosen based on Frommer's positive reviews. The actual experience did not disappoint. Toi is a small, noisy, happening Thai restaurant on the very busy Sunset Boulevard, not too far west of La Brea. We were lucky to find parking at a meter on the street; there aren't a whole lot of other options. Every inch of space in the restaurant is utilized for tables. New arrivals wait on the sidewalk outside until a table is available. (We couldn't help but wonder what they do when it rains in Southern California.) We were seated quickly at a tiny table along the front window. The atmosphere was an eclectic mix of rock, patrons' conversation, and the classic "Wizard of Oz" playing on several big and small screens scattered throughout the space. Thai food and the winged monkeys of Oz? Funny, but it worked! Service was perfunctory ... fairly prompt and basically courteous, but with no real interest in our dining experience. After perusing the large, two-sided menu packed with Thai offerings ranging from basic to vegan to really intriguing, we selected chicken satay (six skewers for $8) and an interesting pumpkin/ eggplant/ fried tofu dish ($11) that the menu boasted was delicious. Both items arrived within minutes. The grilled satay was flavorful, yet a tiny bit overcooked, but the accompanying peanut sauce more than compensated. It was wonderfully thick, nutty and spicy ... totally unlike many of the salad-dressing-thin varieties we've experienced elsewhere. One of us actually finished the bowl with our fingers after the chicken was gone. The pumpkin/eggplant/fried tofu dish was amazing. Large chunks of each main ingredient were mixed with mushrooms, then bound by a deliciously savory, garlicky sauce that was like nothing we'd ever tasted. The brown rice served alongside was actually more of a black rice, so thick and chewy that it retained the shape of the bowl from which it was inverted. The depth of flavors and textures was much more than we expected! The only drawback to the whole experience was the wine we ordered by the glass. It had obviously been uncorked too long. Our entire bill was just over $30 ... not at all bad for a nightcap meal for two. The entire menu was equally reasonably priced, with most entrees ranging from $10 to $14. Portion sizes at surrounding tables seemed fairly large. Hip and satisfying, Toi really delivered.

I'm sorry, but once you have had authentic Pad Thai, then you know what you get from this place is not authentic. A group of our friends went here based on some reviews we read and man were we ever disappointed. It started with waiting to be seated. When we first got there, we were told it was about a 15 minute wait so we were advised to wait at the bar. And so we did. No one ever came over and asked if we would like a drink while we were waiting. As people were leaving, it seemed like the staff were too busy to clear the tables and set up for the next group. There were probably 3 vacant tables and we were still standing there waiting. We probably didn't get a table for about a half an hour. Anyways, we ended up being seated and our waitress was lovely. However, 3 of us order the so-called infamous Pad Thai and it was probably the worst Pad Thai we had ever tasted. It looked like slop on a plate. The noodles had that starchy/sticky texture to it. And we got our Pad Thai about 5 minutes after we ordered, so it clearly made ahead of time and you could definitely tell by the texture and the taste. It wasn't even close to what Pad Thai should taste like. I would definitely give this place a pass!

Generous and delicious Thai food in an intimate setting decked out in pure rock and roll. Excellent red curry and homemade peanut sauce. Skip the tourist trap chain restaurants and check out this local gem instead

We went to Toi last night at around 8pm. This is our first dining experience in LA and i can say we were not impressed! We chose Toi as it was so widely liked on trip advisor. Ok so the atmosphere was great well decorated with old movie posters and rock posters, i especially liked the signed Pulp Fiction poster, signed by Quentin himself. Unfortunately thats where the good bits ended. Don't get me wrong the portions were huge, and we over ordered as we didn't know! However the flavours just were not there. I had Satay Chicken for start, got six skewers with peanut dressing and some other deressing i didnt try. They chicken was tastless and the peanut sauce was just like oily peanut butter, no spices what so ever. For Main i had the Red Curry, I have this thing about red curry and try and have the same dish in each Thai restaurant so that i can give a well rounded review with plenty of eating experience. My I say that the curry was bland at best, huge bowl yes, but id rather have had a small portion with lots of flavour. It seemed to be loaded with basil and that was about it. No tangy undertones from lemon grass that just should be present in a thai curry, no aromatic spicy flavour and most of all no Coconut milk flavour to speak off. tasted like it had been made with water! We had a side of steamed rice, again huge but a little over cooked which made it all stick together. My wife had the Veggie pad thai noodles, which she though mediocre at best, again could have fed 3 people but the flavours were just not there! The service that also disappointing as it felt like we were being rushed, and food was dropped on to the table! NO TIP FOR YOU! To sum up, we wont be returning, which is a shame as im a great fan of Thai, but this just did not cut the mustard.

Location: Hollywood Atmosphere: eclectic, cozy, friendly Staff: average Menu: good selection Drinks: limited selection Meal: Pad Thai - Pan fried Thai noodles with chicken, egg, garnished with crushed peanuts and fresh beansprouts Prices: $12 Visit Again: maybe Recommend To Friends: maybe

I love this place!!!! So much character and great food too! I have been here a couple of times and every time I am in Hollywood I have to stop in for lunch or dinner! Such an amazing menu! I haves loved everything I have ordered so far!!!!!!!

Tasty food at reasonable prices. Nice laid-back atmosphere, and convenient late hours.

Not only is this one of my favorite Thai food places, but this is the BEST place to go after an arduous night of dancing and lounging in Hollywood because it's open until 4AM. Their Special Thai Spaghetti is a must.

I usually eat lots of thaifood and am here on vacation. Had their brown rise with the ginger chicken and I it was one of the better thaimeals I have had. Staff is nice and atmosphere great. Not fine dining but if you like it thaiway you'll love Toi.

We used to come here a lot in college and revisited it recently while in town. I really want to give this 3 1/2 stars. This is a rock and roll vibe Thai restaurant. There's a lot of neat posters and memorabilia on the walls and it has a fun vibe. The food is hit and miss. Their Thai spaghetti and pad thai are some of the better dishes. Some of the meat dishes are so-so - had the honey duck and it's a little too crispy for my tastes. If you're in the neighborhood it might be worth a visit, but if you're a serious Thai enthusiast I'm sure there are better options.

I've been patronizing Toi for more than a decade and realized I'd never acknowledged its special qualities. There are many. First, it's a throwback to 70s Hollywood, its music culture, and even its pretenses, all offered without judgment or editing. If you want to sid on cushions, you can. If you want to overlook the passing street scene in a giant hand-seat, you can. There are also more conventional offerings. The food is fine, though there are probably better places to go for innovative cuisine. What one gets at Toi is well- and quickly-made Thai favorites, and you can ask for customization that is offered without hassle. Beers are great, wine not so great, but the value is extraordinary, especially given the location. If one wants to hang out and watch old movies (on a less than state of the art system), that's OK too. Service is cheerful and very competent. Toi never holds tables until the rest of the party arrives. It's too friendly and sincere to do that. I usually order a soup, which is a meal in itself, and glass noodles with chicken -- maybe not the most challenging of cuisines, but a good basis of comparison. Ice cream desserts are fine, although not extraordinary in any way other than their size, which makes one too big even for two people to consume. So I view Toi as a neighborhood favorite. There is no reserved parking, or even valets, but it's easy enough to park within a block or two. Come for the vibe, the atmosphere, the generous servings of good, healthy food, and to take in the atmosphere. Although the clientele tends toward Gen X and younger, Boomers like me are welcomed warmly, and the music and atmosphere seem well suited to our generation.

food was average. amusing to see pictures of some japanese rock bands on the wall.

Decent Thai Food...good pick up to go spot. I don't really like eating there...a little to DIVEY for me.

The food and vibe were both perfect. Portions were large and quality was sublime. Very friendly staff and interesting decor.

Loved our visit here. Great Asian food, cool & edgy atmosphere, rock 'n' roll themed. We ate late (11pm) and the place was packed. Service a little slow, seemed understaffed, but our meals were huge & delicious. Will definitely visit again.

Fun and funky. The Bangkok Delight with brown rice is my favorite.

It was one of my last days living in SoCal and my friend took me here because I love Thai food. The food was amazing and I really enjoyed it. The restaurant's decor and style is very strange. The bathroom is even stranger!

eh

4 star for a late night, 3 for day

I came with friends on Saturday night and was surprised how quiet it was. It was a cool looking place and although I was a bit reserved about Thai food, I got the honey duck and it was delicious. The music was awesome as well.

My daughter is a local in Hollywood and took us out to dinner here. We were worried at first because my son is very picky. Him and my daughter had the lemon chicken. I had the bbque chicken and my husband had the ribs. My other daughter had an unusual dish but she loved it. My husband had an imported beer and the rest of us had the special tea. It was great. We had great and fast service. There was also some neat artwork there. Prices were average for 6 people. Around $115 which included all the fancy drinks.

Great late night Thai food!

Rock and roll dive atmosphere with really great Food. The Pad Thai is the best I've had along with brown rice. Plenty of food served to take home leftovers.

This place is amazing Best food and atmosphere! Quentin Tarantino wrote this in an interview on Purple revolver.com "It's open really late; the food is great. I come in to write. During the day, it's way kicked back. They always play good music. I can sit for five hours, order some coffee and just work. I've been doing that at Toi for 15 years."

Casual, nothing fancy. Good food. Cavey ambience. The decor is like, when you let your typical Venice beach artist go berserk. Nice. Would definitely come back, but maybe not for that special occasion. Perfect place to bring the kids.

We went to this restaurant for a surprize party. Great service and an even better decor. Staff very friendly and accommodating. However the food was marginal at best. It was served promptly and hot. They forgot to make it tasty. There were at least 5 others in our party of 20 who agreed with me. If I do go back I'll try something different. I had fried rice with shrimp. The shrimp was awful. Very small with the tales on and a total of 4 tasteless shrimp on my plate. My wife had the same. Unfortunately her meal mirrored mine.

Went here last night. Restaurant is pretty cool. Service was decent. Food was above average - both my wife & I have eaten at very good Thai restaurants in England (probably one of the few dishes we do well....) & also visited Thailand last year. Food didn't taste anything like the dishes we were used to, it wasn't bad, it was merely Ok

Rock'n'Roll Thai open till 4am.

Romantic and chill. Food is good too. Good place to hang out with a date.

Took a friend here for her birthday meal after reading some rave reviews about it and certainly wasn't disappointed. The décor has to be seen to be believed! More like some crazy curiosity shop than a restaurant, but, thankfully, where-as some diners make up for their culinary short-comings with wacky ornamentation that doesn't apply here. The food was scrumptious, enormous portions with an excellent vegetarian (+ vegan for my partner) selection. We started with a shared portion of the 'budda chilli' - which was large enough to have been a main course in itself! - and had two of the vegetable stir-fried dishes for mains. All faultless, as was the table service, with a very friendly and helpful waitress. Looking forward to my next visit already.

I love this place because the food is very good, the portions are generous (have this in mind when ordering), the decor is fun and the service is fast and friendly. My only complaint would be that it's a bit on the loud side -especially weekend nights- and sometimes it's hard to have conversations. (I'm an old lady)

I wasn't impressed.

This is a very casual and noisy place with a youthful clientele. The decor is kind of punk and eclectic, and the TV over the bar was showing anime. The staff was friendly, and the food was excellent. I had a yellow curry, and it came out in a huge bowl big enough for 2 people. I loved it. Recommended, if you're not looking for a super classy, quiet place.

The spot for thai!

Open late! I've been here twice since being back in the area. It's a great boutique restaurant with upbeat decor and friendly service. The lunch specials are priced right under $10; I ordered Pad Thai noodles with chicken, drank Thai tea and had a delicious green tea ice cream. I've had way better Thai tea but it was good nonetheless. I returned a week later for a small dinner with my sister and we shared an order of veggie egg rolls and Pad Thai noodles with shrimp. I honestly like the pad Thai with shrimp better, but both choices had such great taste.

If you love authentic thai food and would like to experience it in a very eclectic atmosphere, this is your place. Been eating here since the 90s. It NEVER disappoints.

I love Toi on Sunset! The food is delicious, the staff is always very helpful and the atmosphere is fun. It's a perfect place for dinner and a Sapporo with friends.

Good food-rude server-but it was busy in her defense

The Tom Kha Kai is the best! So flavorful you'd thought you took a trip to Thailand. I also ordered the Honey Duck. The honey sauce is like no other and the duck was cooked to perfection. Service was pretty good for how busy they were. The staff is always nice and friendly. The decor is way rad, makes you feel like you've stepped into a rock venue hahaha. Will definitely come back! Rock on!

We make a point to come here every time we are in LA. Great spot to hit if you want somewhere quirky, fun and Californian. Good food and even better ambiance. The food isn't the best Thai I've ever had, but it's still good. We love that it is open in the late-night hours. Service is usually pretty friendly too. The crab wontons are yum! I always order the Pad Thai too, and it's always delicious.

The food was really good, and the quirky fun atmosphere was fun. The egg rolls were excellent, and the Pad Thai was very good. The wait staff is not super friendly, but they were efficient. Eat here and then go to the Laugh Factory!

Toi on Sunset is my "go to" restaurant in Hollywood for my favorite comfort food, yellow chicken curry. It's creamy and deliciously made with a near-black rice that's simply delicious. It's conveniently located on the Sunset Strip and usually has good parking available. You can sit at a table or on the floor with cushions, which is very chill. It's casual, with a diverse crowd. Rock posters adorn the walls. All their food is delicious. The portions are large and reasonably priced. My only issue is their beer isn't cold enough for my taste. But their hot sake is just right. They deliver with only a $14 minimum and are pretty quick. Describing Toi on Sunset in 1 word, "delicious"! Enjoy!

average food, above average atmosphere and crowd

Great atmosphere, service and food. The portions are huge! We were very tired from driving back from a sleepless and fairly food-less festival and were in need of some serious replenishing. We just wish we could have been more alert to appreciate the cool vibes of this restaurant more.

Awesome place with great food and a cool rock & roll atmosphere!! food was delicious and the staff was delightful!!

Good old stanby for cheap Rock and Roll Thai.

Had dinner at Toi with good friends from Santa Monica. This is not a touristy place. Very popular with LA and Hollywood locals and if you eat here you will discover why. The Thai food is quite good. Not Bangkok good, but then what is? At our server's suggestion I had beef pad kee mau - very good. All six of our entrees were good. The eclectic decoration of the restaurant is great. And, don't miss the bathrooms.

Great rock n roll atmosphere and awesome Thai dishes.

Cool place to hang out...if you're looking for gringo thai. Tried their papaya salad and there was not enough lime, clearly lacked the spicy kick, and was made too sweet. Mild isn't exactly in my terminology in regards to flavor. Thank goodness for the Shrimp addition...otherwise the dish is about as interesting as watching paint dry. I do however, commend them on their "special" brown rice...I do like that type of rice and have it at home on a regular basis. Very interesting take on decor. That gets a thumbs up! Along with their service. :) Probably won't ever come back here. The food is just not good.

Even though parking is a headache for this restaurant it's worth driving around to find a spot. The food is always very tasty and the value for money is good too. The setting is very eccentric with odd pop/rock memorabilia and strange papier mache creatures hanging from the high ceilings. The staff have a very laid back, casual attitude. I always get the yellow curry with chicken - there's enough in a serving for dinner plus left overs. We have gone to Toi in groups as large as 8 and never had to wait to be seated. This one gets an all-around thumbs up.

I went here reluctantly with friends after clubbing on Thursday..They were shocked I'd never been as it's 2 blocks from my house. I never liked Thai food ever! I love Indian/Mid Easter/Japanese..but never Thai.. I tried everyone's food and it was ok..but my Pad Thai was so amazing, it's Saturday and I made my boyfriend go get more! Maybe Pad Thai is beginner Thai food but who cares? This place is awesome! Fun decor/vibe/people! A must eat for local night owls as they are open till 4am I think! I'll be back often! I'm only sad I didnt try it sooner!

The spicy noodle dish was very bland, had little flavor and the Thai iced tea was mainly ice. If looking for GOOD Thai good, avoid this place.

It's funny when you look at this place and you see the atmosphere and the vibe there and you're like wait we're going here to eat that food? Then you get a taste it blows your mind. To me the best Thai in LA and that's a bold statement. Then to top it off a super cool and friendly staff and awesome music and movies playing. Count me in weekly. A don't miss in La for sure

Toi On Sunset is unlike any other Thai restaurant you'll ever visit. The interior is a collection of film, music, and television memorabilia from wall to wall. If your lucky, you'll be there when a film or recorded concert is playing on the wall. Take some time to look around as there are some truly interesting items displayed. The staff are a mix of characters that are friendly and playful. Most of them have the old Melrose shop worker uniform: dark clothes, colored hair, pierced, and tattooed. But each server I've had have always been super nice and down to earth. The food here has never disappointed. I'd be willing to bet, in fact, that this will be one of the best Thai food experiences you'll every have in the States. Authentically prepared, these good sized portions will make you wish you could eat here more frequently. If you want a uniquely LA experience with great food and atmosphere, don't miss out on this gem in the heart of Sunset Blvd.

Love this place. I come all the way from Arizona for this! Seriously! Awesome atmosphere. Lot's of clebs come as well. Get the special rice.

atmosphere.

Love this place! I have never had a bad experience here and I have been coming for over 14 years. Service & Food are both really good; (my favorite dishes are the Veg Curry & Veg pad tai). Toi is always cranking great rock n roll and the overall atmosphere is ROCK- rock posters & pictures everywhere. Don't miss this place if planning a trip to Hollywood.

If you're looking for a fun LA experience and tasty Thai food, try Toi on Sunset. Rock, pop and artful décor provides lots of eye candy. The Thai toast is a delicious appy along with the egg rolls and spring rolls; huge portions for a good price. If you enjoy it spicy, ask for a bit more heat as most dishes are relatively mild. It is a vibrant, edgy atmosphere and can be quite loud. There is always enough to take home.
Rock 'n Roll Thai!!
I have been here several times and I'm never disappointed!! It has the coolest, rock'n roll eclectic atmosphere from the music playing to the many pictures of rockstars all around, such as John Lennon, Billy Idol, Nirvana, Rolling Stones, etc. etc.. The waitstaff are always friendly and really good for suggestions/explanations. And the food itself is EXCELLENT! If you're a Thai food beginner, have the always delicious Pad Thai, but seriously everything on the menu is so yummy! I have ventured to order things that I've never heard/seen before and always delicious. They have a unique rice here that is so good totally on its own or with some peanut sauce. The soups like Tom ka kai are so fragrant and satisfying. They spice things very well here; always spot-on! I highly recommed Toi. I'll be back very soon!!!!
