We had a great dinner here tonight and the grandkids enjoyed the chef’s performance! We ate steak. Shrimp, veggies, and fried rice and enjoyed the meal! Draft beer was a bit flat but the Seven Hills Cab was good! Service was excellent. Parking on site. Reasonably priced and super casual! We’ll go with neighbors next time!

My husband and I have enjoyed a few dinners with family at Tokio Table. The restaurant is very family-friendly and great with children! To start, we always enjoy their fresh salads and appetizers. They also offer a variety of sushi appetizers, very delicious! Your chef arrives at your table and begins a wonderful show while grilling your favorite entree' and sides, all along bulding volcanoes with fire and steam to childrens' delight and fascination. The meals are served piping hot and prepared to your preferences. Their service is fabulous and you never feel rushed to eat and head out the door. The chefs are very interactive and attentive to your service needs, whether you need another beverage or want to place an order for an additional sushi side. Reservations are highly recommended. We'll be going back to Tokio Table again and again.

We went out with several friends here for dinner. The food was good but a bit over priced. I don't think of myself as jaded. I just expect good food and service when I'm dropping the dimes. The portions are a bit small and the service was a bit slow. Our cook was cool and did a good job. The scallops and shrimp were fresh. The chicken and beef were fine. Nothing really stood out to me as anything new or that impressive. The decor is absent with a meat locker appeal to it.(not that into meat lockers) my friends loved it and I'll leave it for now.

Only the most jaded diner would not be thrilled with Tokio Table. It is a fun experience to watch the chef perform, but beyond that I thought the food was exciting and delicious. The quality and freshness was outstanding. We dine out quite a bit. We look forward to out next visit here. Oh and by the way, you don't need to be a dedicated Japanese food fan to enjoy this. It's so easy to love.

Replaced a prior restaurant in this space, with the chef cooking at each table. Benihana-style approach, probably fun for the kids but nothing new if you've seen this style of food preparation before. Staff is very pleasant and friendly; feels like a family business. The 4 of us thought the experience was enjoyable, but are not that likely to return (not big fans of this type of cuisine, many other exciting food choices nearby). They just opened for dinner April 15, will open for lunch May 5.

What a great choice for our celebration dinner. The drinks were superb, food especially delicious and the service staff was wonderful. From the bartender, to host and tepanyaki chef, we couldn't be more pleased. Thank you for helping make our special night the perfect one for such a milestone event. Pro Tip: Order a variety of Entrees and share a bite or two with each person - we tasted everything and it was cooked to perfection.

Wanted to find something a little different for our last night vacationing in the Portland area. What better than a Teppanyaki style meal? Found this through another consumer rating website and gave it a try. Tokio Table has only been open a short time, but you wouldn't know it as there wasn't any of the usual clumsiness of the waitstaff and problems with the food that new places have. There were eight of us, including a newborn, seven year old, and 81 year old. The person who seated us was very cheerful and friendly, She also turned out to be our server. She explained the menu and answered our questions. Wish I could remember her name, but it turns out she's Adrian's wife. She served us miso soup and salads with ginger dressing. Both were delicious. Adrian was our chef. He cooked everything perfectly - although a little heavy on the seasoning. He entertained us with his food artistry and gave us suggestions of other places to visit in the Portland area. Overall, an excellent meal. Would highly recommend this family run restaurant! Much better than similar national chain restaurants. We'll be back the next time we visit the area.

Great staff, great beer and cocktail selection. I tried the sake flight. Good for special occasions for an engaging group activity or solo/couples dining with top notch sushi and soups!

This place was just plain NEAT. They make your meal in front of you and you sit with others around a semi circle with the cook table in front of you. You get LOTS of food and it was just delish.

Teppanyaki is the japanese style which the chefs demonstrate in front of you the dish that you order, mainly grill or sauteed..Benihana is a chain of this type. I order the chateaubriand which is tender beef grill, rare, french style and it was done perfectly. The rest of the steak choices on the menu are excellently done. Highly recommended. The chef demo a fantastic show with entertaining skills. Prices are reasonable and the ambience is impeccable. I recommend you come with groups between 6-8 adults because I saw some couple came in and they have to wait until the number reached for the show to start. So if ypu want to celebrate with a small group then it is the palce in Portland Oregon.

Christmas Eve Benihana was booked and we wanted a fun teppanyaki experience for the kids. No problem making a reservation. Decor is very spare - urban industrial. I am OK with the look except it really could use some artwork to make it look less like you are in the back kitchen. Our chef was competent and did the usual routine with the knives, fire on the grill etc.... Nothing new but entertaining for the kids. Service was prompt. Local beer on tap. The plates and serving ware was very chic and the presentation nice. Salad that came with dinner was fresh. Grilled food was cooked nicely and only difference really came down to the sauce you chose. If you are on a diet, a good place to know exactly what you are getting. Not over the top extraordinary but a pleasant enough experience and would be really good for small kids as the food can be ordered plain and there is enough entertainment to keep them from whining. I

Loved everything about this restaurant. Location, Food, service. Am in town on vacation and the cook even gave us several other options for food and treats. Will always come back when in Portland.

Rainy night as always in Portland but service and environment of a Japanese (food cooked on a big grill in front of you) Steakhouse was good. Everything was as expected Place needs a little painting and upkeep but doesn’t disappoint. Saw lots of families there as well. Prices not out of line for the “show” and the cooks were entertaining.

Researching Portland and there many restaurants, this was exactly what we wanted for a fun family atmosphere at Tokio Table . Greeted at the door and seated right away, great start .... then it started unraveling from there very quickly . The server was present right away and then gone ,forgetting us. The chef arrived with no enthusiasm nor conversation to interact with the table. The food had very little taste and over priced, had we had proper service and some life with that flaming onion we could of over seen the price. and the server who wandered off as well as the chef with the table having zero rice , 2 people from the table had to get up and go ask for it. Which showed up after ones meal was gone, the parties at the time then waited another 20 minutes after asking for all our checks. Thank goodness for my FAMILY as that was the highlight of the evening.

I love to write great reviews. I love it when restaurants wow me and I can share it. One year ago Tokio Table was new or relatively so. The experience was great, so when my adult daughter chose it for a birthday celebration I was delighted and made a reservation. If you are not familiar with the type of restaurant this is, think Benihana. Teppanyaki. Showmanship with a grill. Last year very good showmanship and skill, this year more basic, but nothing to complain about. Among us we ordered steak, sea scallops and Salmon. The steak was ordered medium by my 12 year old granddaughter, and medium rare by my 14 year old grandson. My daughter and My wife ordered sea scallops (which I knew I would taste) and I ordered salmon. The steaks were identically cooked very medium. The scallops were nearly vulcanized and suitable as bumpers or door stops and only my timid plea to have the salmon a “bit rare” saved it from being utterly inedible. I made the plea as I watched in horror as the pieces got obviously too done and I hoped to save them from oblivion. What my intervention got me were two merely over cooked pieces. Since I was driving, I had not ordered a cocktail. The bill came to over $230 for the three adults and 2 kids. I certainly am willing to spend at that level. But I expect expert cooking. We most certainly did not get it.

This was our first time here and I thought the restaurant was good. There was nothing Asian about this restaurant, our hibachi chief was named Anthony. We eat at hibachi restaurants all the time and to be honest this restaurant was just average. I was surprised that the dinners did not come with fried noodles and dessert as in other hibachi restaurants. i also though that the portions were much smaller for the higher price. Don't get me wrong I thought that the food was good, just not any better than the other hibachi restaurants that we frequent. All of the staff that we came in contact with were friendly and polite. The restaurant was clean.

Service was friendly and efficient, but the food was average and the portions rather small for the prices we paid. Further, this poorly-lit restaurant had no ambiance and the decor was too industrial looking for my taste. Not impressed and probably won't return.

I've been to Beni Hana before, but the food at Tokio Table puts it a cut above. The staff is friendly, attentive, and no one at our table ever wanted for anything. We had a delicious Fuji Apple Sake, and the steak and spicy chicken were fantastic. Looking around the restaurant, there wasn't a kid or family member that wasn't fascinated by the speed and professionalism on display from the cooks. Five stars. Totally going again!

If you're searching for hibachi entertainment, go to Benihana's. If you want good teppanyaki food with a quiet atmosphere, this is it. They don't have the mass produced Benihana's sauces, as theirs seems to be more home made. Their food is clean and flavorful. We definitely enjoyed our experience.

We love hibachi, so when we are travelling and can't find anything we like close by, that TA thinks enough of, it is our fall back. After getting in late from a long day, we checked out where we could walk to for dinner, from our Airbnb in this city neighborhood. We enjoyed it so much that our last night in town we went back. Pretty standard hibachi choices, along with lots of sushi. My delicious teriyaki chicken and scallops combination provided plenty of good tasting veggies, I liked their miso soup more than most places, and the fried rice is good. I saw some disappointed reviews, but we would recommend this as a solid choice.

For starters a very modern restaurant. Full bar. Our Chef was Carlos and he was incredible. I have been to many Hibachi Restaurant and this was one of the best ever.

Whether you classify this place as dumpy or chic is a matter of opinion. It's a very poor man's Benihana with marginal service. The cooks provide a touch of teppanyaki showmanship and that's kind of the high point. I had some tasty steak and veggies with fried rice that was soggy to the point of mushiness. My wife tried the yakisoba and pronounced it dry and tasteless. She ate about half and gave it up. We wouldn't consider coming back until the servers get their acts together.
I wanted to like this more than I did
My son chose this for a family dinner because I don't like Sushi, so that was a plus. Our group seemed to be sitting in a corner and the lighting was harsh - -chairs bad, no cohesion around the table. I wanted to like it more. The service was slow - they said they had some people out, so we were patient. It took forever but I was happy that our shrimp allergy person got her food cooked FIRST to avoid contamination. That was great. I thought the food was undercooked a bit and just wanted to like it more than I did.
