Tommasso is was and always will be my favorite Italian restaurant. The quality of the ingredients are second to none. Each dish is prepared the same each and every time I go there. From the moment you sit down you are greeted with the best rice balls and onion bread you ever had. The selection is true Italian fare. And if you show up at carnivale you better have an appetite. The food never ends. You will fast on Ash Wednesday out of necessity. Highly recommended!

food was excellent, our group had the 3 course meals, we all loved it, they had a Italian opera singer and a piano player, very good, but to loud. the place is very clean & atmosphere was very good, parking is difficult, but they do offer to park your car for $5. the bathrooms are clean, but real small, great waiters always there filling ur water glass, the tables are narrow, need more room for food while you eat. make reservations, they fill up early. i had whats called Lasagna Napolitano Discontrueture, looks like a bowl of round noodles with beef, but it was great. looks very tight for a wheel chair. i will go again. they do have a banquet room.

Great food, nice atmosphere with good service, what more can you ask for. All 8 of us had trouble deciding on what to eat because there were so many fabulous choices. The menu went way beyond the typical 20 or so items you see in every Italian restaurant.

The food is amazing, Tom is a great character and awesome chef. So many good choices and the wine list is exceptional. You will not leave hungry.

I wAnted home cooking in my old neighborhood Very happy with the atmosphere, service and food Ordered my favorites stuffed artichoke. That was yummy Had live Italian music and it was treat. They even took request Miss old Italian cooking reminds me of my family and my in laws

I was in Brooklyn recently for a business meeting and found this wonderful corner Italian restaurant. This was the perfect place to have prociuto and cheese with some red wine. Also had delicious Sicilian rice balls with gravy. Wish we had this in Northern NJ! You won't be disappointed.

I've gone to this restaurant for many years and have lots of great memories there. The food is always hot and delicious. The service is impeccable .

Ate here last night with another couple Had reservations. Seated immediately. Place was pretty crowded Good service Nice bread with olive oil and basil dipping My wife and I ordered from the $28 fixed price menu I had Arugula salad, linguine with clam sauce and canoli for dessert. My friend ordered a dish off the menu and they made it for him My wife had a shrimp cocktail, eggplant parmigana and penne cotta. All excellent. I'd go back

Authentic Italian food! The food was Soo good I already have gone twice and planning on going again, the also have live opera to enjoy your dinner with. I have recommend alot of my friends to go and they've also loved it too!

Close to the Verrazano Bridge, this neighborhood restaurant is excellent. My wife had a great glass of wine, both our meals were wonderful and the bread was great too. We've eaten at Italian restaurants all over the US and Canada and this was as good as any.

great place to eat with family or friends...pricey but you get what you pay for. excellent menu...

Visited this restaurant on Saturday Feb. 11 for a fixed menu, Carnevale festival. I had been here before a few years back. The owner is a real character and the place just aways seems to be filled with friendly locals (Dyker/Bensonhurst). The first course was 15 appetizers, one better than the next. With bread, this was a full meal in and of itself. Second course, I had pasta e fagioli ("pasta fazul") simply because I knew I would hit the wall early with a huge plate of maccheroni. When I was finished with that, I had a stuffed chicken breast with roated potatoes. I asked to take it home and skipped right to the dessert. Of course I had the chicken the next day for an early lunch and enjoyed it immensely. In summary, I didn't feel like I was taken for a ride by a tourist trap place. The food simple and good. Check it out. You'll be glad you did.

Was there this past Sunday night. Food was excellent. What also helped were all the Holiday decorations and the music. Music added a lot to the atmosphere. Would definitely go back!!

Went with family this passed weekend, I have been to Tommaso's many times and it is consistently a very good dining experience. The baked Clams, Spedini Romana and Eggplant Rollatini were excellent, the Seafood salad was nice and tender but could have use a little more seasoning (personal preference). The Rigatoni with Vodka sauce is excellent as is the Stuffed Veal chop which I always get when I dine here. Dessert was very good as well, the homemade Italian cheese cake was a classic example of what an Italian cheesecake should be it was delicious! The opera singer was very good and just added to the ambiance of the restaurant. We always enjoy when we dine here and that's why we keep coming back!

I could eat at Tommasso's every day. The only problem is it's a lot of delish carbs! I love the pistachio pesto pasta, and if you're up for gamey meat, the rabbit pasta is delish as well. Even if you don't order an appetizer it's normal to get complimentary rice balls that have melted mozzarella inside. For those that know, it's a local favorite since decades ago.

Went there Saturday night for dinner... All I can say is... WOW.. From our server Anthony who was so on point and gracious.. The on to the food... Every appetizer.. Foie Gras, Seafood Salad, baked clams oreganata... to the entrees.. Bronzino, Braised Monkfish, Braised Short Ribs.. Osso Buco... All INCREDIBLE !!!! This is how a restaurant should be!!! Leave room for dessert.. ALL tasty.. BATTS loves this place!!!

Pleasant atmosphere for this Italian eatery If you are lucky on certain nights the owner will serenade you with wonderful Italian operas! The staff is friendly. To my surprise the wine list was extremely extensive. (The wine cellar is a treasure) The food is your "average" Italian cooking -

I had been to this restaurant twice before and while the food is excellent you are dealing with an owner that is a rude prima donna. The last time we went there was for "Carnevale" and when we attempted to ask if there was a way to order ala carte the prima donna made us feel so uncomfortable we left. This year we were celebrating an important anniversary so I made reservations. The food is not the problem and at this time of year the prima donna sings for the people.--Actually he sings all the time--in fact I think that he opened the restaurant many years ago just to sing. I arrived before my husband and proceeded to tell this boor that I was there for the reservation I had made. He yelled at me and embarrassed me in front of the other cIients by stating I had to "repeat myself " without shouting. I am not a child. I am a college professor and my husband and I ARE SENIOR CITIZENS.. I should have walked out but foolishly I wanted to celebrate there. Then he shouted at me "And do you have a name?" When I gave him my name he shouted to all "Show Ms_______ to a table. The restaurant was empty and he sat us in the back. My husband arrived and we ordered. The prima donna was gracious enough to sing one song then he left us in the restaurant to cater I am sure to a loud party in the other room. The food is very good --no doubt but pricey and to be insulted time and again by this man--I call him the "restaurant Nazi ala Seinfeld" and to have a bill of over $100 is deplorable. When we ordered dessert they did not so much as offer us Anisette. My husband is a magician and he was being very nice to the wait staff showing them some tricks and we did not get even a token of appreciation. If I want Italian food I will go to my favorite Colandrea New Corners. If I want carols I will listen on the radio. If I want rude I will go to my classes or to Tommaso!!!

food is good, but the owner is insulting. ..i brought a gift in, and when i didn't sell it to him...he told me to go play with it, in a nasty tone.,.asked me if i was bringing in two hags,..then said "get out of here"...of course i cancelled my reservation, and i would never go there because of this boorish pig!

First of all the Dinner Price on their website is listed at $28. It is indeed today@ $29.95!! (And every item on the menu (website) is MISSPELLED!! We used to go often in the past - Recently decided to return with members of our family for a celebration. . OMG what a big disapointment it was! We all had various items from the menu and each one was "tough" to chew on!... The only good thing is their bread and pesto. Their dessert were acceptable but were very small portions! And the wines - by the glass - much TOO expensive. No longer this place will be our destination.

We eat often at Tommasso's...They have great food, lovely ambitious wait staff...beautiful waterfront views in the rear of the restaurant, & delightful ambience... No matter what food you choose to order everything is simply delicious...My favorite is their gluten free pizza & Ceasar salad... Very good & filling... Prices vary on items, however most are fairly priced... You can eat in or order out for pick up or they also offer delivery... This is a must eat stop in Trenton, Ontario!!!

Went for a prix fixe meal during their Carnevale celebration. It was disappointing. The antipasti, consisting of items on separate plates, were practically thrown in there table. After a number of courses one would have thought that the silverware would have been changed. All the dishes were terrible since they were obviously prepared well in advance. The live music consisted of some old standards and arias. Nothing festive about it. I would hope that the food during other times would be better. It certainly left a lot to be desired during Carnevale.

Had a party with 30 family members at Tommaso's last night and it couldn't have gone better. Warm and friendly service, endless delicious food (clams and rice balls were my favorite), and the opera singer was just amazing. Such a wonderful end to the day for my large Italian Family. Thank you

I really dislike giving a bad review but what I really dislike even more is spending my hard earned money on a terrible meal out. First the place is like being in someone’s grandma’s basement and she has terrible taste in decor. Staff was attentive but not very warm as one would expect from a local Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. The menu, well its awful. Which shame on me I looked at ahead of time and knew I was rolling the dice. However I forged ahead based on a recommendation from a local and the positive reviews here on TA. The Apps were ok, we had Baked clams , stuffed mushrooms and mozzarella en carrozza. Then came the entrees, my son and husband went the safe route or so they thought chicken parmigiana. It was just terrible. The sauce was thin a very strange color and quite possibly the worst sauce I have ever tasted. Served with a side of large and I mean large wedges of POTATO! Not pasta but huge honking pieces of unappetizing potatoes. I went for the chicken Scarpiello. Which consisted of tiny on the bone cut up pieces of dried out chicken also accompanied by , you guessed it,big fat cut up potatoes. It was bad so bad that I will forgo the recounting of dessert because this story does not have a happy ending. It left me wishing I was brazen enough to ask for a refund. We are a family who loves dining out and enjoys delicious food. Deeply disappointed with Tommasso’s.

Me and my wife come here every year to eat and look at the decorated houses in Dyker Heights. Food is always top shelf and the atmosphere is festive with piano players and singers. Love coming here every year!!

I have been going to Tomasso's for years. I grew up in Brooklyn and moved away many times but when back in Brooklyn, I always find a day and a way to dine at Tomasso's My wife and I have lived in Vermont since 2006. However, with my sister living in Bay Ridge still, I find a way at least once every 6-8 weeks, to pay a visit for a day. Without fail, we go to lunch at Tomasso's, sit eating and chatting for a couple of hours, and head back home. Most recently, we had a dinner there to celebrate my sister's birthday, and my niece's, and my wife's, and my mother-in-law's birthdays, for they all fall within the same week. So there were 8 of us around a table, eating well, drinking very nice wine, and enjoying the evening at Tomasso's. It's worth your visit. I like it so much that I will come down from Vermont for a day, just a day, so that my sister and I can have lunch at Tomasso's. Yes, I really like it there.

I was so looking forward to eating here as part of a Brooklyn Christmas lights tour on 12/13/14. What a disappointment! The staff was unwelcoming and rushed you through the entire meal. The owner barely looked at you and was rude when you tried to speak to him. There was no singing. On top of all that the food was awful - greasy and tasteless. In advertising videos you see a warm and wonderful atmosphere and a congenial host. In real life you get none of this. I think this restaurant is living on its past reputation or only welcomes and caters to reporters and others who can give it some publicity. For the average person, don't waste your time or money going here. Such a shame.

A great place to eat, consistently excellent over the decades. You will not be disappointed with anything you eat.

The best genuine Italian food with same owner for over 30 years. My family enjoyed Christmas Eve and Easter many times in this restaurant, as well as had my high school graduation, baby and bridal showers there. My favorites are the rigatoni puttanesca, spedini, fruitti di mare, lobster fra diavolo (if you're lucky), veal saltimboca.Go during Christmas if you can for a very fun singing evening. Rock on Tomasso!

Been here many time food is great the best wine in New York Love the new editions to the menu the veal shank was great The shrimp burgers and pork sliders are new and good And as always the best cheese cake

went there for carnavale special event everthing was burnt and tasted like it was leftover from some previous dinner wine was good $35 a bottle but the food was old tasting not worth it i was sick the next day food poisoning .place has gone down hill maybe different chef ?

Tom is affable and an old world New York Italian and loves what he does. The place is festive and food par excellence. We celebrated Carnival here and the place was great fun for all.

Always a solid place to go, I go here quite a bit and have had parties here as well... The complimentary Rice balls are excellent, their stuffed Veal chop is very good, Mozzarella en Carozza is good, Cold Antipasto is very good.. Pretty much everything I has eaten has been very good to excellent. The nightly singing is a great touch to this great neighborhood place.

Food is OK, dining room is tight & crowded, prices are decent, old piano player is fun to listen to & on occasion they get a great singer who can sing opera & pop tunes very well. Most of the time the singer is a very old woman who lost her voice years ago but it's still fun to be here. Nothing special but fun.

It has been years since I visited Tommaso in Brooklyn. The food is still spectacular okd world Italian and the Saturday night opera singer made the evening. Go on Saturday for a great meal at a low price fixe 29.85 for a Three course meal with lots of choices

We had a delicious and enjoyable dinner. Everybody was so nice and accommodating. Finally a restaurant that believes in delicious warm bread . I'll definitely be back very soon .

We had lunch at Tommasos and wished we could have stayed for dinner. This is a great restaurant with terrific food. Another great location for mob enthusiasts as it is right next door to the former social club of Mob boss Paul Castellano. If fact, they have a picture of him in the entrance of the restaurant. Right across the street is where Gambino underboss Frank Decicco was blown up. Great history and great food. Not to be missed. Hard to get to however for a Manhattan based tourist unless you're adventurous.

Great service and great hospitality. This restaurant reminds me of a store of decorations because of ll the small decorations all over. A big family room. The food was delicious with great flavor . The appetizers were excellent. Had the big clams, the seafood wraps ( cabbage rolls) in a very light and tasty sauce. The eggplant rolls were great. For dinner had a fabulous bacalao . Excellent, just like my grandma and mother make it at home. Peaceful place.

The menu is full of Italian specials that you will not find in most Italian restaurants. They also have a great wine list and there is always a chance someone will get up to sing . It is worth a try

We just went for their 3 course fixed priced lunch with a glass of wine for $25 and it was excellent. We were greeted with hot bread and olive oil. Then, to our surprise we were given a complimentary plate of small rice balls and foccacia. The choice of appetizers was excellent and was a decent size. The main course had many great choices and was very filling. The food was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. The portions were very generous. The dessert was the last course and it was a nice ending to the meal.

Met here for lunch on a Saturday. The special lunch menu for $25 per person was available. The selections for appetizers, entrees and desserts were plentiful. It also comes with a glass of wine. We had baked clams, fresh mozzarella and a garden salad. For entrees we had the veal rolls ( rollatine) wrapped in bacon in a mushroom Marsala sauce. Served with roasted potatoes. All were excellent. For dessert we had tortoni, tartufo and rice pudding.

Tommaso is one if our favorite Italian restaurants in an area loaded with restaurants of all kinds. There's a very small bar at the front (maybe 5 seats). The restaurant is nicely decorated. There's a large room and a smaller room room in the back which is not completely private but is partitioned from the main room. There's also a private party room to the side which seats about 30 people or so. You are usually greeted by the owner, whom i assume is Tommaso, who is also the chef. The food is exceptional with many traditional type dishes. We've been here many times and have NEVER had a bad meal. The staff here is very good; efficient. Most have been here a long time and are very knowledgable about the menu. There are daily specials. On some nights there is a piano player and operatic singer who perform several songs. Sometimes Tomasso himself will sing! There's even a piano in the party room and they will perform briefly for your party as well. Unfortunately, we don't get to Tomasso's often enough, but it's definitely one of the top restaurants in Brooklyn and wish we could go more.

The restaurant was a small traditional Italian also very dark. The waiter was good but we seen him go out for a short break and he came back stinking of cigarette smoke, which wasn't pleasing when your trying to eat your dinner. Last of all they added on a very large tip for themselves.

We had a 50th high school reunion dinner here last night so I can't comment on specifics on the menu since I never saw it. What I can say is that the food was very good and was fresh and hot. The service was good considering we were a party of 40 or so. Pasta was fresh and perfect consistency. I had a thinly sliced veal wrapped in prosciutto and cheese that was excellent. Appetizers passed around included lightly fried calamari and a toasted thin bread with cheese. The atmosphere was nice and old fashioned and everyone was pleased. Parking can be a hassle but, hey, you're in Brooklyn, my home town.Definitely a solid choice in this neighborhood.

We booked this nice Italian restaurant because we then went to see the lit houses in the Dyker Heights neighborhood. We all had the menu and everything was very good and served quickly. Small problem: staff not very welcoming.

I was here earlier in the week for a Christmas luncheon. We had a private room which was spacious and light. Upon entering the front door we were greeted with the delicious aromas of Italian cuisine. A waiter immediately directed us to the party. The menu for a group party was excellent and included a wide variety of appetizers, entrees and deserts. There as something to appeal to everyone. The meal included coffee, tea, soda and wine. Food was delicious and fixed to perfection. Tommasso's is conveniently located in Brooklyn, and street parking is available. Buon appetito!

Dropped in whilst waiting to see the Christmas lights and the place was really full due to some sort of event. We were found a table and had the 3 course set menu. The food was plentiful and flavoursome, would highly recommend and return. Spoke to one of the ladies who was originally from Dallas who was very pleasant and talkative, enhancing our visit.

Absolutely amazing! The place has been here for many years and staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. It’s definitely not an expensive restaurants and you get a good amount of food. We are definitely going back.

The service was excellent and all the staff were very friendly. The way the restaurant was decorated was very rustic and traditional. All the food was delicious and fresh. The overall experience was fantastic. However, be aware of the automatic gratuity they put on the bill, I always like to be given the option to tip and given it I would have probably tipped 18%, but I was a bit annoyed about the gratuity.
Classic Neighborhood Italian
Great place for dinner.. cozy and they have Opera singers as well.. Now this is not you standard red sauce place. Sure you can get the classics here but they have Escargot, Wild Boar, Truffle dishes, Veal chops. All executed well..last time we went I missed the complimentary rice balls and focaccia, hopefully just a hiccup and they did not do away with that.
