Delicious food and a nice atmosphere. Our server, Elaina, was awesome and very attentive. Monty, the manager, made sure to check on us. Thank you for our first Tommy's experience!

We have dined at Tommy's about a half-dozen times recently, and always find the service to be impeccable. They also serve some of the very best baked oysters I have ever had. I especially love the Oysters Rockefeller here. Tommy's is a little hidden-gem for those who live around the Clear Lake area. It's an upscale environment with a notable nod towards seafood. My Wife and Daughter have enjoyed the rib-eye steaks here several times as well. On the first two visits, they were slightly over-cooked. But after mentioning this to them, each successive visit has been better and better. They also have a very nice wine list that is reasonable priced. Try their blueberry martini, apple martini, or cosmopolitan drinks; they make all of them exceptionally well.

Went to Tommy's with work colleagues and was very impressed. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive. I had oysters for the first time and they were very good. Shared appetizers were very tasty but salad was disappointing in terms of content and dressing. Entree however was excellent - I had blackened redfish topped with crawfish etouffee. Good quality, good size serving and reasonable value. Did not have room for dessert but they looked good. Overall, would recommend and will certainly be going back.

We were hungry for oysters so we kept hearing about Tommy's as a great spot for our hungrer. If you like fresh, raw, cool oysters on the half shell at great prices this is a terrific place. Tuesdays and Fridays they have special pricing in their bar area. If you seek a nice, white table cloth, good service restaurant this is also your place. They make speciality bar drinks, good wine selections but no draft beer only bottled beer. Good selection of entrees and appetizers. Make reservations or come early on Fridays cause they get busy, the rest of week walking in usually gets you a table with little to no wait. Enjoy!

Consistently providing great food, a varied menu, solid wine list and very personable and informed wait staff.I love to ordering Oyster Rockefeller and Oysters Crawfish Enchiladas - they are delicious. The chocolate cake is amazing.Love this place:)Respect to the chef...

We are fairly regular diners at Tommy's, eating there about once a month. We have never been disappointed and find it to be as good or better than most any restaurant in Houston. The drinks and wine pours are generous. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is understated. It's one of the few places we enjoy eating at the bar as much as being served at a table. And you can actually have a conversation without having to yell. Tommy's menu focuses on seafood and salads, but the steaks never disappoint and the pasta dishes are excellent as well. Yes the raw oysters are great and always fresh, but you are missing out if you don't try some of their house specials for cooked oysters. For our 10th anniversary we started by sharing 3 dozen oysters. My entrée was the seafood platter - a huge plate of tasty fish, shrimp, stuffed shrimp, seafood stuffed jalapeño, oysters and calimari, fried to perfection in a crispy batter without a hint of grease. Veronica had a grilled salmon steak with sides of fresh vegetables and their incredible carrot souffle. (How they make carrots tastes like sweet potatoes with a hint of cinnamon is beyond me.) For dessert, we shared "Jealousy", a light pastry filled with cooked pears and topped with Raspberry reduction, accompanied by cappacinos for each and Baileys. I cannot recommend Tommy's enough but, remember this, if you plan on going on a Friday night and want a table, make reservations. It's that popular. If you are lucky, you'll get Gregory as your waiter. Bon appétit!

Enjoy going back to Tommy’s for happy hour and the best raw oysters in the area. This is an institution for freshness , good table service, nice menu and quality for the gulf region

Had the crispy salmon that was awesome. Cooked with spinach and wrapped in a pastry. Cooked perfect. Was like a beef Wellington.. cream brulee was delicious

A party of 6 of us ate here on a Friday evening. It was crowded and service was somewhat slow. We had to ask the waiter on a couple of occasions to remove the accumulating empty dishes to make room for the arriving ones. The food was excellent. I don't eat oysters myself, but my companions raved about them. I had, instead, one of my all-time favorites...escargot. It came wrapped in spinach with herbal garlic butter, topped with crusted Pamesan cheese, and served in the traditional 6-slot porcelain dish. OUTSTANDING! My grilled salmon was excellent as was my partner's filet mignon. Make reservations.

This was our first visit since the restaurant was renovated. It looks great: modern, lot of windows, and yet still a comfortable feel. My tuna (starter) to be shared was very good. The gumbo soup just spicy enough. The entree was seared tuna and it was perfectly prepared and accompanied with small portions of very good mashed potatoes and crunchy broccoli. Bread was warm and tasty. For dessert: creme brûlée and a flaky “ Jealousy” filled with berries and apples were delicious. Friendly service. Great lunch.

Hubs & I decided to try Tommy's based on a friend's rave reviews. We were not disappointed! It may not look like much from the outside, but the atmosphere inside is perfect for a relaxing, quiet dinner. We had the grilled oysters as an app, both had salads, & then had the crispy skinned trout & shrimp diablo pasta as our meals. We finished with the bread pudding and some port. All wonderful. Service was excellent, as were the martinis and wine. It is an older, more subdued crowd, but that's nice when you want a romantic date night. We've meant to go back for the happy hour specials, but haven't made it yet. We live less than 20 minutes away and had never even heard of this establishment before... It's so nice to know that we have such a great option right down the road. We will be bringing our friends here next time they visit us down on this side of town. Def a place worth sharing... We will return!

The raw oysters were as good as any we have had in Maine and everything is always good at Tommy’s. I had the soft shell crabs and loved them. This is a lively place and obviously very popular with the locals. Eight dollar for a dozen plump spring oysters was a great bar promotion.

Outstanding food and excellent service for our party of 9. They accommodated one person with a severely limited diet and she was very pleased with all her food. Not only are their chef prepared entrees delicious, but they come with choices of sides that include carrot soufflé, grilled asparagus, mushrooms and daily specials. Getting these side choices beat the normal salad and potatoes most restaurants offer. Stuffed redfish or flounder, broiled seafood platters and tuna were some of the favorites of our family. Grilled oyster appetizer was a favorite of all. I definitely be going back for raw oysters and happy hour soon.

Before my trip to Houston I googled places for a nice dinner, this exceeded ALL expectations. The service was outstanding and the food was some of the best I have ever had. Everything was served quickly and was in and out for a 3 course meal in under an hour. I would drive to Houston just to eat here!

We ate here on the strength of other reviews and started with shrimps followed by a steak each, washed down with a lovely bottle of Merlot! Tommy's was quite busy, but we were shown to a table by a window and a young lady proceeded to take our order! Tommy's has character and the social 'mission' of recycling the oyster shells documented by press clippings on the way to/from the bathrooms. The menu had plenty to choose from, and the food didn't dissappoint; we particularly liked the carrot puree which seemed to have been cooked with cumin and cinnamon. We did ask the waitress, but she didn't seem bothered to ask the kitchen! I can't really put my finger on it, but the service wasn't great; it wasn't bad either, but at times throughout our meal it felt like we were being rushed along, whilst at other times it felt like we were being rushed! Nevertheless we went home full to bursting and had eaten a great meal! 2 courses with two bottle of decent wine came to about $240

Dined here on a Tuesday night for a business meeting and caught by chance the oyster special of $6 per dozen, which is also available Friday nights and during Happy Hour. We all ordered a dozen and were very pleased with the quality and size. For entrées, everyone had a seafood dish. Fish was fresh and well prepared. Servers were well trained and attentive without being intrusive. Prices were in line with the food, service and ambiance. We were all so pleased that we returned for dinner another night, something we rarely do.

I had my Christmas lunch here. We had a very nice room--just quiet enough for everyone to talk but also open to the main restaurant. The service was fairly prompt but the waiter never brought me water and I had to ask for a Diet Coke when the meal was served since he never asked for my drink order. The appetizers were very tasty. I ordered a cup of gumbo and I have never had such a small serving for the price. It was very salty and not very flavorful. The others ordered regular meals and an alcoholic beverage. The food was served hot and most portions were average to big. (No one commented that their meal was special or tasty.) The last time I remember being here was almost 24 years ago for a Valentine's dinner. I am not going to hurry back but it is a nice restaurant that is a bit pricey.

I had a lunch portion with a dozen fried oysters and they were delicious. We had a gumbo appetizer which was a little salty for our taste and not much seafood. Fried shrimp were fresh and cooked correctly. We visited for lunch and it was very busy at 11:50, which was strange to me, but a good sign. We sat near the hostess stand and heard the phone ringing with a weird tone-- that was a little off putting. We would visit again.

Recently visited this restaurant for the Oyster special during Happy Hour. The oyster's were fresh and excellent in taste. We also tried the Calamari which was among the best we have ever had any where, the Mussels left a little to be desired, definitely over cooked but eatable. Fried green tomatoes definitely had Italian flavor with heavy Marinara sauce and too much overcooked batter.

Our family have been customers for years. Last few visits disappointing. Drinks took forever, oysters Rockefeller , little bitty oysters, tons of spinach and cold! No parm, no sauce. My sis ordered wedge salad and peel and eats. So much dressing , salad soggy and shrimp way over spiced. When we shared this with the waitress she did not say a word... just walked off. Useless asking to send back as she was absent most of our visit. Drink prices even during happy hour expensive. Used to love this place. What Happened?

We were passing thru Seabrook, Texas and were directed to this restaurant because of the quality of the oysters....and they weren't kidding!!!! we got 12 Galveston Bay Oysters which were so tasty, sweet and big....for $5.00!!!!!!! i also had the Maytag blue cheese salad which was served on halves of roasted romaine lettuce which was superb!!! The service was good and if ever back that way, we would definitely revisit this place!

Great Seafood, Great Steaks and Ambiance above all...This restaurant is class personified. The bar area stays full because it is a friendly bar and the bartenders do take care of you. The BEST oysters anywhere!!! They are the right size , not too small , not too big...Fresh from Galveston Bay and good!

I've always had great service at Tommy's. The fried green tomatoes and fried asparagus appetizers are great to share and very delicious. I don't eat oysters, but I have friends who have enjoyed them. I've tried the crispy salmon and the pecan crusted redfish, both were very good. This is not your typical chain restaurant found in the Clear Lake Area, therefore I give a great review. We need more independent restaurants in this area!

Tommy’s is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. We go at least twice in the month. The food is great and always tasty and fresh. There is no waiting time to be seated usually, but the food might take longer than you expect. There is weird thing about a waiter works there that he sees us, and then declines to serve us. He does this all the time, and we are not aware than we even know him or he served us ever before. My husband wanted to talk to the manager about that concern, but I told him that mostly the manager won’t care about that since this place had been always known that his customers are from certain colors and races, but since we could afford to eat there and paid their checks, so it is our right to go as much as we like.

Fresh and innovative appetizers and dishes. Also good service and atmosphere. Best deal on oysters on the half shell you can get as well during happy hour.

I have not been back to Tommy’s since its renovation and what a change! It is crowded and noisy! First, when we arrived at 6:45, a Friday night, there were about 20 people waiting outside. But, we had a reservation for 6:30, so no problem, right? Wrong, we were told that our table had been given away because we were late. Girl at reception desk (GRD): I can add you at the bottom of the waiting list. Me: this is ridiculous, we are only 15 minutes late. GRD: We cancel reservations if people arrive more than 10 minutes late. Me: Maybe you could have mentioned this when I made the reservation?. GRD: “I always do when I take reservations but it was not me who took yours. Now, do you want your name on the list?” I felt so unwelcomed at that point, clearly she could not care less whether we stayed or not, obviously they had enough customers, they did not need our business. I should also mention that they had my phone number and never called to enquire if we were on our way. I had friends out of town and they had been looking forward this restaurant so we decided to stay anyway even if we had come for a quiet restaurant, which it was not. The food was very good, the steaks cooked to perfection, and some of my friends enjoyed their sole-crabmeat rolls. The desserts and wine were excellent. However, the butter they put on the steaks has blue cheese in it which I do not like. I was careful NOT to pick the steak that came with blue cheese on their menu. Luckily, my husband who is allergic to bluecheese was not with us that night! They need to mention it if there is blue cheese in their dishes! The waiter was nice and efficient and not intrusive. I am not going back thanks to their “welcome”. If you decide to go to Tommy’s, make a reservation and be on the dot!

We loved everything about this place. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was delicious. Our meals were spectacularly plated, and our steaks were cooked to perfection. The key lime pie stole the show, it was amazing. If we lived in the area, we would dine here on a regular basis!

Best oysters in the Galveston.Houston area! And great happy hour deals! Tuesday and Friday nights is their $6/doz oysters on the half shell. My husband and I can pack them away on these nights. :-D Steaks are great and LOVE the blackened shrimp. Be sure to get the house salad. Service has been a bit hit and miss but the food totally makes up for it.

Quite possibly the freshest, tastiest seafood I've EVER had! It was my mother's birthday, a Tuesday night and very crowded but no wait! We must have arrived at just the right time because the place was full and lively. Wait staff was knowledgeable, helpful and very attentive. What makes this place exceptional is the quality and freshness of the food. It is quite obvious it is not frozen nor pre-prepared. Yes, there are cheaper places and more scenic perhaps but those chain restaurants are "same old, tired" fare! I was, however, happy to see some old favorites still on the menu (seared shrimp salad and the stuffed jalapenos). AMAZING bread pudding!! If you want truly scrumptious seafood in the greater Houston area, this should be your choice.

Covid 19 aside, the food (oysters) was great as usual. Staff were careful but a bit on the light side as not fully staffed due to limited business. Distancing and cleanness were excellent. If you are careful and follow the rules of society as we are required to during these trying times, the oysters during Happy Hour daily afternoons are a delicious as they have always been at Tommy's.

Saul and his team were very attentive. Glasses & bread were never empty. The food here is fantastic. I was thoroughly satisfied with the fried green tomatoes, Caesar salad, grilled oysters, & the shrimp diablo. We will definitely be back! Thanks for a wonderful meal & service!

A great place for upscale dining in a business casual atmosphere, during our visit the food and service was perfect, my wife and I started with the black and bIue tuna appetizer and it was wonderful. for our entree I had a steak and my wife had the broiled seafood platter and she loved it as well, we also had service from the bar and our drinks were spot on

When we're in Clear Lake, we generally hit all the chain restaurants with the family (babies/4 yr old), so miss out on what I would consider "finer dining". We had a little time alone, so decided to try Tommy's for lunch. We shared the fried green tomatoes with the roasted tomato marinara & remoulade--just wonderful! My husband had the stuffed shrimp, which are very likely the best stuffed shrimp either of us has ever had. As I am an oyster fiend, I had to have my half shells, & they didn't disappoint. There's a decent wine list, & the available wines by the glass were excellent & reasonably priced. The whole meal was actually priced well below what I would have expected for a meal of this caliber. Now I have to figure out how to explain, next time we're in Clear Lake, that MeeMaw & Grandpa are busy for lunch!

The selection and quality of appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts was great, and the quality of the food was excellent. We dined with a party of 10--and all agreed this was an awesome experience. The staff is very well trained, effective and professional. The oysters and other seafood was fresh and exceptionally well prepared. I recommend a reservation as this place is very popular.

From the time we arrived service was fantastic! No glass sat empty and empty plates were immediately cleared from the table. Everything from the raw oysters, grilled salmon, broiled seafood platter, and dessert tasted wonderful. Needless to say, no leftovers went home with us that night. We will definitely dine here the next time we are in town.

The food is always great. The fish and seafood are fresh. We love going during oyster season. They have the best fresh Galveston Bay oysters! They have a great daily happy hour. We eat here very often.

Went there with my business contractor. I ordered a seafood gumbo cup and for later the colossal (large) blackened shrimp with mashed potatoes, veggies and rice and came with a salad also. Good food and a bit expensive for lunch but portions are good for the price.

As a local, I frequent Tommy's often. Of course you could fill up on the fresh baked bread loaves and dip (which I always over-do) but don't stop there. Best tomato basil soup, and for the lighter side I highly recommend their Stacked Shrimp Remoulade. It's fabulous and more than enough. My very favorite waiter - Daniel - makes sure I'm well taken care of upon every visit. Great for booking parties during those special times also.

Had the sesame tuna. Cooked to my liking with green beans and carrot soufflé. The others in my party had grilled redfish and wedge salad with steak. Everyone enjoyed their foood.

This was my first visit to Tommy's. I live in the area but just never heard much about it until someone suggested we try it for their special deal on Tuesday's. Raw Oysters $6/dozen all night. It took forever to get seated, and once we did it took an additional 20 minutes just to meet a waiter and get a drink order placed. The drinks took another 10 minutes and we went ahead and ordered so we could get rolling. They seemed severely understaffed and while our waiter apologized for the wait initially, he sure didn't seem to be able to improve the matter. We waited for absolutely everything. Crackers, tabasco, martinis, etc., etc. The food was fine - I mean, we have a few good raw oysters bars in our area so there wasn't a lot to compare. Our drinks were fine. One person in our party had the seafood pasta and the scallops & shrimp were plentiful and fresh with a tasty sauce. It just took too long for everything which was a major turn off.

Large group and they handled it beautifully. The food was great and all members served at the same time. Tops in service. Like the previous reviewer, I'd also recommend the bar area over the dining room. Better atmosphere unless you're with kids.

Tommy's suffers from the sameness that plagues all restaurants in this area, which is to say you start from the position of being in an office building or strip mall, not terribly distinctive or stylish. But once you get out of the parking lot and into the restaurant, it is a reasonably hip (for Clear Lake) restaurant with an almost-kind-of-happening bar scene, and they DO sling a cold and generous martini. The seafood is what you'd expect, with lots of local gulf oysters and shrimp and such, accented with a few nice flown items like Ahi tuna. The Lobster Bisque on special the evening I visited was a bit thick and heavy and seemed like it probably was a previously frozen food service product, but the giant gulf shrimp were fresh, nicely seasoned, breaded and fried, and the tarter and cocktail sauces were just right. Seared ahi salads looked very nice. And, three of us ate very well, enjoyed a nice glass of wine with our meal and split a dessert, and still managed to get out for about $50 per person. So, overall quite acceptable and, if in the area on business, would go again.

This place continues to be popular with long-time Clear Lake residents (looking around the dining room the average age of the patrons must be just south of 70). The food is nothing fancy although the prices would lead you to believe that it should be. I had grilled chicken that was about as flavorful as an old shoe, as it was overcooked. I work nearby and very few people I work with frequent this place as there are soo many places nearby that serve excellent food (many, many different cuisines) at very reasonable prices.

Great oysters, many to choose from and service was great. The happy hour martinis were also a bargain!, would definitely come back another time.

Two nights in a row I made Tommy's during Happy Hour and both nights were great! The oysters of course are great. The Fish Tacos, Drunken Shrimp, Stuffed Jalepenos and of course the Happy Hour drinks make things great. It does not get better than Tommy's at any meal!

Nice, Houston rainy night. The awning at the front was perfect for my wife and our guests to keep them dry, i parked the car. We shared some appetizers, our friends had never had fried green tomatoes, and the oysters Rockefeller is pretty good here. My wife liked the gumbo, our friends liked the redfish, and i enjoyed the capresse salad with ahi tuna. Game 7 of the world series was on in the bar and though the Astros lost, it was still a good night. Service is always good here, the floor staff are very nice and patient.

Oysters were good! They have happy hour where you can get a dozen oysters for $6. Also had gumbo which was good. Prices were fair. Service was excellent. Very nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this place for a date or business dinner!

While in town on business Tommy's Seafood was recommended by the hotel as a great seafood restaurant. The food was excellent! The portions were huge! The presentation was beautiful! And we had excellent service! Highly recommend Tommy's Seafood if you are in the area.

And Friday nite is Oyster night. Can't go wrong. What a find. All loved their entree and wonderful service. A must when you in this next of Houston......

While visiting the Houston area we wanted plenty of oysters on the half shell and chose our restaurants accordingly. We settled on Tommy's our first night as the reviews are good and it was close to our hotel on Clear Lake. The oysters were terrific, but as they're made by God and only shucked by Tommy's that is no credit to the restaurant. As we waited for a table I ordered a Tanqueray martini for myself and wine for Anne from the bar. The martini was very nicely done. Once seated a basket of French bread was served accompanied by a small bowl of olive oil in which swam a generous dollop of the most remarkable, tasty pesto we have ever had. Absolutely delicious. The raw oysters were almost all quite plump and even though we ate no crackers with them I was full so for my entree I ordered the regular broiled oysters, which were very good, but my first love is NOLA style charcoal grilled. Per our server's suggestions I added some of the olive oil and pesto to the broiled oysters. Very good. Anne ordered the pecan crusted Redfish which she reports was very nicely prepared and flavorful. The green beans that accompanied the fish, however, as is often the case in so many restaurants were a tasteless plate filler. How hard is, people, it to show the green bean a little love? We were seated in a room around the corner and in the back, which suited is fine as I am hearing impaired and the noise level was much more comfortable in this section. But the decor, lighting and ambiance in the main dining room that surrounds the bar is very cool. Nice vibe. As far as Houston is concerned, if I never visit again it will be too soon. LOL. It is just too dang big. But if we were to end up on this side of town again, we'd visit Tommy's again fer sure.

We’ve enjoyed previous dinners at Tommy’s, so my husband called several days ahead to make reservations to celebrate our anniversary. When we got there, the hostess seemed confused and didn’t seem to have any record of the reservation. In fact, it seemed like she didn’t even look at a reservation list, but just kept asking how many were in our party. We tried a few times to tell her that we had a reservation for two under our name, but she just asked “how many in your party?” over and over. Luckily, a table was available, but it was a very weird start to our evening. After being seated, we waited a long time, but nobody came to take our drink order. We watched as several waitstaff passed by our table to wait on other customers, and as a few more just stood near the doors to the kitchen looking out at the dining room, but nobody even checked on us for a very long time. Finally, a waiter who appeared to be assigned to a different section spotted us and came to ask if we’d been taken care of. He was kind enough to wait on us the entire time, even though we were not in his section. His service was very good, thankfully. There was some confusion over the drinks since on the menu, the rose wines are inexplicably grouped with the sparkling wines instead of with the whites or in their own section (as in most other restaurants), so what we thought was going to be a sparkling rose was just a plain flat rose. The food was good, as usual, but the rough start set a very poor tone for the experience and left us feeling disappointed, especially since we were there to celebrate a special occasion.

I am a little conflicted with this review. Upon arriving, it was apparent it was a busy night. The strange thing was there were about a dozen people waiting for tables, but I could see 3-4 tables ready for seating. Who knows, but it seemed that the hostess wasn't completely on top of things or she was told to hold back for whatever reason. The bar tenders were great. we ordered a couple bourbons and were treated very nicely... It only took 10 minutes to be seated after being told it would be 45 minutes, so that was a pleasant surprise. If we were in a hurry, we probably would have gone somewhere else. The table service was excellent. I forget his name but hopefully the rest of the servers are as good as this dude. Aside from a slight problem with the waters (apparently a sprite was mixed with the waters and that was a surprise when you're ready for a big swig and get a big fizz), he took care of it quickly and apologized. We ordered an off-the-menu appetizer, tomato caprice with grilled shrimp, crab & asparagus. It was very nice, but the crab basically added nothing to the dish. The bread & oil was really different than what we typically see with high end restaurants. I enjoyed the pesto & parmesan with the oil, but the bread surprised by being so dense and sweet. It was a strange combo. I prefer bread with a slightly light and open sour dough with this type of offering, but some might feel different. As far as entree's, I should have gone with my first thought, which was to order some baked oysters. Instead I ordered a filet. I should have known there were some red flags when the server told me it was Choice beef instead of Prime. My wife ordered snapper w/ponchitrain. At the end of the day, she was happy with her blacken'd seasoning & what she shared was agreeable. Unfortunately, the steak was about as bad as I have ever had. Normally, I order my steak medium when I arrive at a restaurant for the first time, hoping to eliminate the under or over doneness bias of the kitchen. Regardless of the temperature, the steak has to taste good. If the taste Is right, I'll adjust the temperature accordingly the next time. Well...... in this case, I should have ordered rare, because medium came out as close to well done as I have ever seen. I don't know if the flavor of the steak was impacted by the temperature, but it was not good. I didn't make a big stink, but the server was smart enough to see there was a problem when the only thing being eaten were the sides. I never complained, but when the bill came, they took the steak off. That was not something we asked for because we knew our 15 year old would eat this thing without a second thought when he got home from his soccer game. Regardless, we appreciated the realization from the staff and management. Overall, cool vibe at the bar, good service and oysters look to be the specialty. I won't try the steak again and certainly, based upon my experience, would not recommend that option if you plan to dine here. Because we had a good experience with the service, we'll come back at some point, but don't plan on bringing any friends until we see the food quality improve.

Seeking to take a break and have some oysters I came to this neighborhood place that was recommended. My date had the vegetable pasta and was extremely happy. I tasted it and can attest it was one of the better veges pastas I've ever had. I had the raw oysters and escargot appetizer. Both were very good. OThe service started a little hurried but calmed down after I made it clear we were taking our time to relax and start with a beer. The atmosphere was ok; nothing too special. The bar war horseshoe shaped and a little tight with seating. Prices were what you would expect in today's market which is to say it was pricey nonetheless. I would still recommend it for some good oysters and a beer.

My sons and I frequent Tommy’s on tuesdays for oysters, grilled wedge salad, and a few drinks. The oysters are the best in the area and don’t know anywhere else that is better. They recently remodeled and the dinning room is a lot brighter. Not to noisy even when the place is full.

Whether you're coming in from a hike at Armand Bayou Nature Center or finishing up a tour of Space Center Houston, take refuge at Tommy's. Widely known for the "oyster bargain" and talented barkeeps, you'll likely have a table next to locals who regularly frequent Tommy's. Great seafood and steaks round out a varied menu. Upscale but neighborly. Very popular with the local business lunch crowd and not bad for a couples evening out, either.

Went to Tommy's for the first time since moving in the area. Apparently they have recently remolded the restaurant and I must say it was very nice inside. Parking is plentiful and it is in a good location to get on and off the main road without problems. Their website recommends reservations, but the night we went we were able to get seated right away and there were numerous tables available, so I am not sure how often they would require you to have reservations. They bring out several slices of thick warm bread with an flavored oil dipping sauce when you are seated and you can request more if needed. They have not only seafood, but steaks, pork dishes and chicken dishes. I ordered the broiled seafood platter and there was plenty of seafood along with their carrot soufflé, corn, and green beans. Those vegetables came with all the entrees along with a dinner salad. My husband got the Colossal Shrimp dinner with the shrimp blackened. He was disappointed in this dish, as the shrimp were not what either one of us would call colossal, they were more just large shrimp, but he did say they tasted good. We also had their chocolate cake and coffee. Their cake was wonderful and the coffee was also very good . We will return soon.

Very nice restaurant apparently well known for their steaks, but went on their Tuesday Oysters on the half shell special(seasonal of course), and I was not dissapointed they were delicious! fresh from Louisiana ,the service is top notch appetizers wonderful will be back anytime I’m in the area. Also, love the fact that dress is anything from shorts to cocktail dresses!! Awesome wait staff!!!!

Great date night place. Excellent seafood and the service is wonderful. Highly recommend this place !

We went there for our anniversary. I had the grilled, sushi-grade tuna and my husband had mussels. The tuna melted in my mouth it was so delicious. My husband raved about the muscles. Great service. The surprise desert (I can't remember the exact name) was out of this world fabulous!

My husband and I love to go to Tommy's for Happy Hour. They have a great Happy Hour menu. The different types of oysters they serve are fresh and delicious. They have a great variety, especially for a Happy Hour menu. The regular menu is great also. The food is always fresh and cooked perfectly.

Went for lunch today. Had the blackened chicken salad and my salesperson had the pecan crusted chicken salad. Both very good. My only note to those being health conscious, the salad comes pre-tossed in dressing and almost always does that result in too much dressing in the salad rendering it a little less healthy. Just my 2 cents to recommend dressing on the side, thanks!

Tommy's has the feel of your local neighborhood restaurant. The service is great. We had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here in 2009. We've celebrated many special occasions here. We've dined as a couple, a family & as a large group. The menu is diverse & the food is well presented and tasty. We dine at Tommy's about once a month. The fish tacos here are yummy. The oysters are the big draw at Tommy's. You can get them anyway you'd like them from raw to Rockefeller. The wine menu is good. The house Merlot is superb! Tommy's is great for a business lunch, family dinner, a romantic evening out, or a group of friends enjoying an evening out.

I have the friend green tomatoes, which were not that great. The tomato sauce they were laid in was very acidic and ruined them for me. I had the salmon salad, which had barely any salmon on it ($17). My drink was $18.

Tommy's is one of our neighborhood gems that offers a great bar scene, awesome food and tremendous service. My hubby and I always sit at the bar and have made acquaintances with many new people we look forward to hanging with whenever we go there, which is about once a week. The oysters are divine. I am not a lover of cooked oysters but theirs are delicious. Must try the raw oysters Mignonette. Yum. Our fave bartender is Cindy but Brian and the others are great, too! Tommy's is also wonderful for bringing in different "appellations" of oysters from different areas of the Gulf of Mexico. Although we very rarely see him, Tommy is the "sommelier" of oysters and knows his bivalves!

Went with my sister to enjoy happy hour at Tommy's. Tommy's is by far the BEST place to get oysters near Galveston Bay. They are consistently delicious. Whenever my family visits Tommy's it is hard to pass up the Wedge that comes with grilled romaine hearts. The slight char adds so much flavor. The last thing I can never pass up is the voodoo shrimp! My sister and I shared the shrimp and a half dozen oysters along with a grilled wedge each and still have shrimp left over. We debated getting the oysters and adding shrimp to our salads, but PRO TIP: you save $10 if you get the voodoo shrimp instead of the addition. I get that the shrimp for the salad are more than likely bigger and probably prepared differently as well, but trust me, this combination is still delightful. Oh! and the EVOO/Herb/Parm combo that comes with the house bread upon being seated is probably my most favorite thing of all. PS: The staff is always friendly! If you come for actual dinner, I would suggest getting a reservation. My personal favorite though is happy hour for these specific snacks. If you go for it, you will not be dissapointed.

The food is always top notch and perfectly cooked. The staff is kind and waiters are very good. It is always a pleasure to eat here. Love having family dinners here too.

Restaurant is in a strip center, yet manages to retain an understated elegance and professional ambiance. My go to place for a business lunch or dinner when I'm in the area. Staff is always professional with out being intrusive. Food is fresh, martinis are good and cold. The kitchen is accommodating to those with gluten allergy and special requests. The tables are spaced far enough that you can have a conversation and hear each other talk. Tommy's does well in all areas.

I like Tommy’s and they usually have good food. The issue is with their alcohol selection and prices. This week, a group of friends had lunch there and ordered glasses of Prosecco. Imagine how surprised we were when the waitress brought out the individual bottles of Martini & Rossi, which is pretty equivalent to Boone’s Farm Wines. However, the real surprise was getting charged $11.00 for that little bottle that retails for $2.50-2.99! Come on Tommy’s! Yes, a reasonable markup is understandable but come on now! That is totally uncalled for! I would expect much better from an “upscale” restaurant. It is entirely for this reason that I am only giving one star but hopefully others will be aware of how they are treating their customers.

This is another "can't miss" spot in the Houston metroplex. Located on Bay Area Blvd, it is easy to find and has ample parking. The happy hour is great and there is always a friendly crowd. The choices are good and filling. Frequently, the food is enough to let you skip the entre. This is a low key single story building on the north side of Bay Area. It is easy to drive right by it.

We picked this restaurant pre-cruise when we stayed overnight in Houston. We almost did not find it! It is an unobtrusive restaurant between two office buildings. So glad we found it! We sat at the bar so we could watch college football. This place has an excellent Happy Hour, even available on Saturday which is not the norm. We started with grilled oysters, then split an entree. This was more than enough food for two! The grilled redfish topped with lobster, crab, and shrimp was delicious. It came with a salad plus vegetables. The food was hot from the kitchen and the service was impeccable!

Too bad my oysters were pitiful! We went for a light Saturday dinner ordering from the happy hour menu. Prices mostly $10 for drinks or food. Three out of 4 enjoyed their menu choices. A dozen oysters on half shell, oysters Rockefeller and shrimp. I had 6 fried oysters. They were not crispy nor hot. They were almost raw. I would NOT order fried oysters here! The oysters were limp. I decided to mention it to the waiter. He said he’d throw them back in the frier!!! I actually thought I had not heard him correctly. But that’s EXACTLY what they did!!😮 I requested they give me a new order. The oysters returned. I asked if they were the same oysters. Yes ma’m . I tasted them and they were no better. No crunch or flavor. Shortly a manager came over and pleasantly asked if things were fine. I explained about the oysters and then asked if he thought it was good practice to take oysters that I had eaten and put them back in the frier. He had no answer. He said he would take it off my bill. He offered me dessert. We all finished and got the bill. He had not deducted my oysters. The restaurant was crowded but I did not have dinner. We usually frequent restaurants with a much better interest in customer service. Maybe he was stumped on what to do. The manager simply removed the oysters. I was disappointed by the oysters and the lack of interest from management. It was like one disappointed customer did not make a bit of difference to this restaurant. I am concerned about HEALTH code violations.

Visiting our daughter in Houston and she suggested takeout from Tommy’s. Everything was SO GOOD! We had the stuffed jalapeños appetizer and my daughter had the crispy salmon entree. My wife had the flounder and I had the gulf shrimp. Everything was excellent and I also loved the sides of corn off the cob, carrot soufflé, green beans, and the side salad. Next time I will try the fried green tomatoes. My new favorite restaurant in the Clear Lake area.

We are regulars. I’m from Clear Lake but moved away 20+ years ago. Every time I visit my parents, we go here for dinner. You can’t go wrong - I’ve never had anything bad. My go to is the pecan crusted red fish. I’m also partial to the voodoo shrimp appetizer. Soft shell crab is also a good pick. Service is always good. Wine list is ok, not great, but there is enough variety to choose from. Have not been there for the bar, but it always seems to be a happening place (for the mostly over 40 crowd)

The lobster bisque was not really creamy. It had red pepper which offset the taste. The raw oysters were excellent and for 6 dollars a dozen it is a great price. The fried shrimp were good. The Caesar salad dressing was not a choice that my husband would choose. The waitress was very attentive. Make sure you do not get seated by the kitchen entrance. Very distracting when the staff is yelling door constantly.

First off...if you love fresh oysters on the half shell then this is by far the best place to have them. Post pandemic has not changed that. However some other things have changed. Old favorites like the baked salmon in philo dough are gone. The menu is more streamlined with less signature dishes, meaning less ingredients in the kitchen to spin out more items on the menu. I had the seafood platter. It was good...not great but the big disappointment was the chef selection fish which turned out to be tilapia on my platter. Forgive me but I don't go to Tommy's to eat tilapia on a $30 plate. Cost cutting and streamlining are never a good thing in a place that regularly pushes $150 for a couples dinner. Tommy's stays very busy for now. They still have a good following. The oysters are still superb. Sad to see the watered down menu.

BEST potato soup EVER!! :)

The on-line photos showed that the place was not a dive and had some class to it. A call about reservations revealed that it was very busy and that is always a good sign. Starting with the crab cakes - very good. Had more breading that we would have liked but the flavor made up for it. I had the gumbo and was surprised at how dark it was. The flavor was great with lost of seafood even in the cup. Interesting way that the rice came on the side. She had the broiled seafood platter (salad also) and it was way more than she could eat. The tuna was delicious and of course the shrimp, both stuffed and unstuffed. Followed by some sort of white fish which was the only part that was not exciting. I had the seafood pasta. I was not excited about it. I didn't pay much attention to what would be in it before ordering and when it arrived I remembered that I don't go for mussels. Not that they were bad, just not my preference. The other ingredients were good. The real surprise was the brandy alexander that I ordered for desert! It was huge, great taste, thick, rich and creamy. A wonderful end to the meal. The tequila sunrise she had at the start was not spectacular. It came in a short glass that diminished the sunrise effect. The prices were reasonable. I would recommend this to any who enjoy a good seafood dinner - classy location, good staff, tasty food at a reasonable price.

Delicious fresh seafood for everybody. Crab cakes are great. Service was very friendly. We were a large group without a reservation and they were very accommodating. Recommended if you’re in the area.

Took a shot in the dark as in town for a wedding and wanting seafood. We were very happy with our pick. Just lunch, but entrees and sides were all excellent. If I make it back, I'd like to try dinner with drinks and some oysters. I would definitely eat here again, and really was the only restaurant I'm taking time to review on a 5 day trip here.

We ate here last night for dinner and it was great. I had the Romain salad with steak and their New England clam chowder. Salad was excellent and the clam chowder was very good and had a nice little kick to it too. The other family members had the oysters and they said they were outstanding. Our drinks were very good and strong, my merlot was very flavorful. We always eat here when we are in Houston and look forward to coming here.

My hubby and I along with friends and family have been dining at Tommy's for many years. We have never been disappointed. The make every effort to ensure you have high quality food, great service, perfect beverages of your choice, and a fun time. The only drawbacks is the wait time can be long so if on a time squeeze then make advance reservations; some of the dining room areas can be loud and noisy with conversation; and as with most seafood and steakhouses it is a bit pricey. Otherwise, this is a Clear Lake area local success story.

Oysters on the half $5 doz happy hour, special tonite of puff pastry topped with lobster cake, lobster chunks surrounded by crab bisque. DIVINE!

This neighborhood spot in the Clear Lake area has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Tommy's menu offers a wide variety and good prices. I love the vegetable medley that accompanies entrees. The happy hour includes great appetizers (that can be a nice, small dinner) and very well done cocktails. Happy hours are every day from 4-6:30 and always feature fresh, shucked oysters.

The food was excellent, atmosphere....our waiter Saul was the best!! Our first visit and we will definitely be back!

Their oysters are the best I've ever had. So fresh and delicious. They recycle the shells to the Galveston bay to regrow the oyster population. Sustainable business is good business! The other food are good too.

I went there during the happy hour, everything was awesome! Raw oysters were fresh, Escargot is best. Excellent service.

Upscale but casual is an appropriate description. Upon being seated, delicious homemade bread and pesto/EVOO is brought. We were there during happy hour so various appetizers, well drinks, beer, and wine were all discounted. We ordered a half dozen raw oysters, but they were the best I've ever had, so we got another half dozen. Our waiter, Greg, who was attentive and personable, but not overbearing, suggested the blue crab fingers, which were really fresh and good. They come on a bed of rice with a buttery dipping sauce and garlic toast. We also had the calamari, which was good, but not remarkably so. Very nice experience with excellent food!

Tommy's has been favorite since the 90's. We chose it for our son's wedding reshearsal dinner in 2000. This is the most perfect place for ladies who do lunch, business meetings, friends that gather, because the excellent, excellent service. Every aspect, surroundings, food, service, will provide a "money well worth it" experience. The fried green tomatoes are crunchy and tasty. The pastas are wonderful with whatever sauce you choose. The steaks will be seared and prepared just as you request. Also, enjoy the humor of the waiter, quick witted. It was perfect for our special occasion in 2000 and still is in 2012.

Nice - and updated - ambience. Four of us had lunch and we all thoroughly enjoyed both the experience and the food. I had the fried asparagus with lump crabmeat and it was loaded with crabmeat. My partner had the fried shrimp. Said it was unexpectedly spicy - but not too spicy. A friend had a hamburger and said it was excellent. Another friend had the wedge salad and chicken fried chicken and both were excellent. No room for dessert. All in all, a great place for lunch and we all recommend it. Enjoy!

Very nice place Great wait service and the food is always excellent. The drinks are very good. I would definitely recommend this place

Address is Houston but it's in the Clear Water area. While on vacation to Houston area, my husband chose Tommy's for his delayed birthday dinner, as he LOVES seafood. Being from the Old School, I was impressed this restaurant didn't go straight "industrial" (ICK!) decor. It has the current fad of "industrial" but made it look more luxurious. Hubby got his huge plate of oysters and loved them. Waiter was charming (and cute). HINT: make a reservation for dinner.

I had a half-dozen grilled oysters (the kind with parmesan, not Rockefeller) and a grilled romaine salad with tomatoes and bleu cheese. Everything was very fresh and tasty. I would eat here again.

Love the value on happy hour $8/doz fresh oysters. I also like stuffed jalapenos, drunken shrimp, Mexican Seafood cocktail. Value is oysters. Staff is friendly. Great atmosphere. Happy hour Mon-Sat 400-630.

Tommy's always offers fresh, delicious meals and excellent service in a socially vibrant atmosphere with full bar, flat screens and private dining options. Convenient location, easy parking and a top quality dining experience!

Weat to Tommy's yesterday with a group of 7. The group tried grilled oysters and Rockefeller style and loved them both. Meals ordered included Pexan Crusted Redfish. Crispy Salmon, Blackened Redfish with Ponchatrain sauce, and one wedge salad with shrimp. Everyone loved their meals! The service really sealed the deal! Rebecca was our server and she took excellent care of us. She was competent, knowledgeable and downright funny. Helped us with celebratory photos and had fun with us! Tommy's is a favorite and is so inviting following the renovation.

We drove to meet friends who live in League City, then had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Tommy's. By the time we got there on a Wednesday evening, it was 7:45 PM, so the restaurant wasn't particularly crowded, but we could tell by the table spacing, the floor covering (some type of carpeting), etc., this was not a loud place to dine--a pleasure in today's world of raucous restaurants. We began with a Martini, made exactly as ordered, and a bottle of reasonably-priced Chardonnay wine. Then the four of us split three appetizers, all of which were simply delicious: the Stuffed Jalapenos, Fried Asparagus with Crabmeat, and Voodoo Shrimp. It would be hard to pick one as best, as all three were delicious. For entrees, one diner had the Redfish Ponchartrain, another had a Filet Mignon, another had the Seafood Pasta, and I had a dozen of the best-tasting oysters on the half-shell I've enjoyed in a long time. (It's my understanding that Tommy Tollett, the owner, has only certain oyster beds from which he will buy, and the taste of the oysters certainly reflects that.) Our server was Leigh Ann, and she was not only knowledgeable, but attentive and cheerful as well. Service was outstanding. The only negative for us is that dinner on a weeknight is at least a one-hour drive from the Galleria area. We'll probably save our next visit for a Saturday night. The food is simply outstanding.

We basically went just for the raw oysters and we were not let down. The waiter talked us into the Rockefeller oyster and the crawfish oysters, this was one of the best things I’ve ever had. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for great service and food.

We come to this restaurant my husband and I every other week for lunch. It is nice place to have good and fast lunch if you heading back to your work or chores. Stuff is friendly. Food is great. They have fresh oysters, and It is always our option. Lunch menu is very diverse and affordable. Waiter usually will tell you about the chef special, but if he/ she didn’t, don’t forget to ask about it. Their cream brûlée is my favorite in the entire clear lake area. Highly recommended.

I had never heard of Tommy's, friends suggested we give it a try. Had a 20-30 minute wait for a table of 4. Not bad for a Friday evening. Sangria was delicious. Oysters were really good. Loved the Asparagus appetizer. Loved the flavor/seasoning of the calamari but it was really tough. Our friends got a chicken salad and salmon, they loved it. We got a small filet and shrimp that was delicious. The waitress was super friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. Can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu.

I had a business meeting at Tommy’s. The locations is pretty convenient, across NASA JSC. Hard to find a parking spot, however the oysters are worth the wait.

We made it just in time for happy hour prices when we went to Tommy's, which saved us a lot of money -- like half price. This is an upscale restaurant with a stainless steel bar and linen tablecloths. They brought yummy bread and herbed oil to the table right away. Our server quickly took out orders so we could get in on the HH. Everything was delicious! I would definitely go back there again even if it wasn't happy hour. (Since it asks below, there is free parking.)

Tommy's is one of my standard stops when in the south Houston area. Good food, reasonable prices and great service. Tuesday night is oyster night, 1/2 price. This trip, 5 of us all had the redfish special and it was fantastic. The couple next to us had the cowboy ribeye special- it looked like something that Fred Flintstone would get, with a foot long rib bone.

We went To Tommy's the other Day around 6:00 PM and the server came to our table and said he would bring us some waters and bread. Brought out the waters and bread still didn't take a drink order. We sat there for about 15 min and still no drink order or app order. I was very displeased with the service. We ended up just leaving cause the table right next to us immediately got asked their drink order and app order as they had just sat down. We didn't like how we were treated. I have been wanting go to Tommy's to try their oysters for a long time but will not be going back.

Tommy’s brags about their “farm to table” style relationship with oyster fishermen on Galveston Bay, and how their oysters are so superior to anyone else’s. We went one Saturday night- oysters unbelievably pre-shucked sitting in a fridge! Shocked after years of eating superb oysters all over this great country to be duped by a well regarded restaurant! Baked oysters fair- dry because they’re based on pre-shucked oysters. Ingredients all prepared not fresh. Calamari nicely fried but no flavor. Shrimp kisses ok. Wine was good-nice dry Pinot Grigio served very cold. All in all some below par food and disinterested service to boot. Sal 409-877-6079 feel free to discuss,

Our annual New Year’s Eve Dinner. Had table for six, ordered appetizers escargot and dozen raw oysters. Both entrees were very delicious. My wife ordered the pecan crusted redfish, I had the fried fisherman’s platter. We were early enough to order Happy Hour Drinks. Only disappointment I had was no blender to make a Pina Colada. We had a very polite host Brooke who took very good care of our table and requests. The dinner and bread pudding dessert was a great success for our group to start 2025 New Year ❤️🤍💙

Been going here for years. Beautiful windows with open floor seating. The long winding bar area is a favorite for trying out fresh oysters on the half shell. Our favorite drink is the blue cheese stuffed olive martini or the old fashion. If you like a quality steak you won’t be disappointed and the massive grilled wedge salad is a definite must.

I thought the best thing about this restaurant was the $6.00 a dozen oysters during happy hour and all day Tuesday and Friday. That is until yesterday when I tried the crab stuffed mushrooms with Pontchartrain sauce appetizer. Unlike other local restaurants there are big pieces of whole backfin lump blue crab instead of some mush stuffing where you can't make out if there actually is any crab within it. The sauce is killer with shrimp and mushroom done in a roux and wine sauce. The dish is $16.00 but I'm telling you it is awesome and a meal in itself. Get the fresh baked bread with it and you'll send the plate back clean. Next time I'm going to try the Scallops with the Pontchartrain sauce and lump crap entree. I can't wait!

Tommy's is an upscale restaurant in Clear Lake City. My new office is really close, so have eaten lunch there now on multiple occasions. The food is excellent and the service is what you would expect at an upscale restaurant. They have private rooms and lots of parking. Their lunch hamburger is really outstanding - a half pound of flame grilled burger!

Great place for lunch with several lunch menu items to choose from for a good price. The food and staff are great. The shrimp remoulade salad is a romaine salad with LOTS of shrimp and dressing, along with grapes and melon. One of my favorites!

Outstanding Happy Hour. Best oysters I've had since I left Florida. Escargot is the best. Outstanding customer service and bartenders especially Sammy and Miguel ll Come early or you will wait for at least an hour

We stopped here last night for the half price oysters, I don't eat them but my family said they were excellent. I had the grilled wedge salad which was excellent and a meal in itself. I also ordered the pasta dish with plain sauce and grilled chicken. Pasta was good, sauce was fair. Atmosphere was very nice, a little classy but very casual which was a nice change. Will stop here again sometime in the future.

Food was good, especially the shrimp remoulade. Prices were OK. I was having dinner with a friend. Seating was prompt (had a reservation). The waiter was attentive, but soon became annoying. He came by every 5 minutes or so, asking if everything was OK, often interrupting our conversation. This continued after we paid the check and told him firmly that we didn't need anything else. The place wasn't full, so I don't believe he was trying to turn the table. We just wanted some uninterrupted time to chat.

I mean it! This food is addictive!!! Seriously though, this is definitely some of the best seafood I've ever had in my life...and I've been some of the best, freshest seafood places around. I'm talking, "on the beach" fresh. If Oysters are your thing, Tommy's has got some serious Oysters rockefeller. Those things are literally ineffable. There are no words for these oysters. After two dozen oysters, My wife and I split what I think was called a seafood broil. That too was delicious beyond belief. We will definitely be back to visit Tommy's and I recommend you visit them as well. I hear their happy hour is great too we'll definitely have to check that out.

My wife and I went to Tommy's recently on a Friday evening for dinner. We went early (about 5 PM) to avoid a rush but there already was one. It did not seem to be a problem because we were still seated pretty quickly. Service was a bit slow. My wife ordered rainbow trout which she said was good. I had the softshell crab which was the worst I have ever had. It was all but burned and with very little actual crab meat. I have had much better at other seafood restaurants in the area. Very disappointing.

Everything is good! The lobster bisque is excellent. The key lime pie is to die for. Appetizers are excellent. I've only been twice, and am working my way around the menu, but everything I've eaten so far is good, including the chargrilled oysters. I don't eat raw oysters, but I hear they are the bomb...and they make good martinis.

Excellent oysters. We got the trio of oysters Rockefeller, grilled oysters and au gratin. All were fresh and delicious. Great with a bottle of pilot grigio. Fried green tomatoes were excellent as well. Service was attentive but not rushed. A bit expensive but well worth the $200 for a fine lunch for three old friends

Tommy's is a very good and consistent restaurant. The service is very good also. The menu is primarily seafood. The stuffed trout is amazing. The salmon is great and the grilled shrimp are very gulf coast fresh. Everything we had was really good. We will definitely be back. Try the specials!!!

WE went with our friends for early dinner, and ordered 7 dozens of oysters -- they are fresh, juicy, excellent. Highly recommended. Good service.

Everything was wonderful! Took my family for lunch today. My wife and I shared the lobster stuffed rainbow trout and it was amazing! My daughter is a vegetarian and loved the pasta (made fresh) and marinara sauce. The Creme Brûlée dessert was also great. Waitress was very charming prompt and courteous. One caution- it is not cheap- our lunch for 3 with the 2 desserts was $85 including tip and sharing an entree for us parents ($28 for stuffed trout).

Thanksgiving Dinner pick up meal. Don’t do it. The dressing had pieces of bone in it. The grilled vegetables were tasteless and hard. The green beans were undercooked. The smoked turkey tasted and looked like deli sliced turkey. The cooking instructions were WRONG. Disappointed in the bread pudding. Very disappointed in the overpriced whole meal. We are big Tommy’s Seafood fans, but this was an expensive meal and didn’t deliver what it should have n

My wife had lunch here and suggested we go with friends for dinner because she was so pleased with the property. The ambiance is very nice, the place popular and crowded--reservations are a must, the service is excellent, the menu is good, and the food excellent. The only weak points are: inadequate parking, minimal wine list, and poor artwork--not up to the level of the property. We can overlook those weak points and will be back when we want a nice seafood dinner. It is refreshing to go to a nice place where the patrons "dress for dinner." We saw no flip flops or shorts! Many of the men were wearing jackets. ALL the women looked great!

Now called "Tommy;s Restaurant & Oyster Bar." The menu here, i suppose would be called "Louisiana inspired." There are Louisiana a number of favorites on the menu, but not overwhelmingly so. Steak and seafood are the clear favorites here. The service is consistently good (I don't see much turnover on the serving staff). I love oysters on the half shell, and their oysters are always fresh and firm. As of this time, oysters on the half shell are on special Tues and Fri, so we are here about every other Friday. I also really like their grilled oysters, and oysters mignonette (did I mention that I like oysters). I also like their gumbo, which is made with a nice roux. My only quibble is that I'd rather they raise the price a little and throw in a little more seafood. Another favorite of mine is the tuna/asian tuna salad. This salad is not made with canned tuna, but rather tuna fillet grilled to order

We were looking for a place for lunch when we say a billboard ad for Tommy's. Tuesday and Friday is $6 per dozen fresh shucked oyster day. We needed no other reason to stop in. Expecting an oyster shack, we were pleasantly surprised to find an elegant modern restaurant. The oysters were fat and sweet and the gumbo (with file powder) was excellent. Service was top-rate.

I travel to Houston frequently for work, and this time I'm stuck in a not-so-great hotel and it happens to be a short walk from Tommy's. Since I really didn't want to get back in the car and eat alone - especially since I wanted a filet - I called to see if they'd do take out. Yes, and it would be ready in 15 minutes. It came with a side salad, three veggies of the day, and bread/oil. I walked over to pick it up from the hotel, a nice evening for a walk at about 6:15 on a Saturday night, it was not busy. But if was very nice with a darker interior, a prominent bar with a few people around, but the place was more empty than full. Still, the servers where friendly with smiles all around. My food was ready and it was a quick transaction and before I know it I'm back in my room getting my food out. The filet was perfect. Medium rare, pink everywhere and warm throughout, I little melted butter sauce - simple and basic and excellent. Green beans, crunchy fresh and seasoned, corn that seems just cut from the cob, and sweet potatoe cake-like thing. All excellent. The bread even had its own side of seasoned oil. The salad - basic - nothing remarkable. In the end, it was less money than Perry's and I don't know that they could have done any better, plus it was not busy and, for me, a short walk instead of a drive. Thank you Tommy's - excellent stuff.

Great evening out. Ate black & blue tuna, stuffed mushrooms and escargot and of course had to wash it all down with Pinot Grigio. For sure will return in a week or so. Wife loved it also

Great place for oysters and martinis. Love the booths and the service is good. The astrotini is amazing!

Been going here for years and always a new and very satisfying adventure in food, drink, service and atmosphere. Tucked away just past the Clear Lake High School and across from Popeye's, do not miss this upscale version of the age old neighbor hood bar and grill. Frequented by locals and a great place to meet old friends, take the family or meet new friends at the bar. Oyster specials are frequent and very, very cost effective. Large selection of wines, beers and cocktails and a large private room is required. Staff are always nice and accommodating.

My wife and I stopped in at Tommy's in Clear Lake on Friday afternoon late for the happy hour. Sat at the bar and had a wonderful time. Casual adult time at the bar with a few appetizers and a couple of drinks. Ordered the oysters Rockefeller, garlic shrimp and calamari. All was excellent as were the drinks! Highly recommend Tommy's for a great time to kick back after a busy week!

Just never have fallen in love with this place. It's yuppy, a bit pretentious, and you get very little for your money. None of the dishes I've gotten have blown me away.

Very quaint...Great Martinis....Good food...This is a rare thing to actually find a nice, classy, clean place that is not a chain and is very good!

Fantastic food and service. Great atmosphere and vibe. Professional staff. Darryl was excellent. Just a wonderful experience!

Tommy's prides itself on good food (Creole inspired), and service, and the oysters. They do pretty good. Close to home and we love it. Last visited on a Friday night with reservations and a long waiting line, and we walked right in and our nice table was immediately available. Kinda rare in these days and times. The menu is somewhat limited with regards to REAL Creole (no Ponchatrain), but my pecan crusted redfish was quite adequate. My sides, broccoli, a scoop of sweet potatos, and shaved corn off the cob are hardly Creole but quite good. Our appetizers were very good: spinach wrapped escargot, nice lump crabcake, grilled oysters, and a nice shrimp cocktail. The wine list is somewhat limited, but adequate and well priced. Entrees come with the house salad which is quite nice with a creamy dressing. Our service was outstanding, and the manager even came around to see how we were doing. Didn't order dessert since we had a Red Velvet Cake waiting at home. A bit pricey for the Clear Lake Area, but it's a nice go-to place.

Food was great here. I had steak and my husband had fish. Both lots of flavor. If we go back I think we will sit in the bar instead of the dining area. The bar atmosphere is nice with some seating near grill. Dining room was nothing special.

The staff was very friendly and attentive. My favorite was the grilled oysters - they are to die for . They do prepare seafood very well. I have been there for lunch on several special occasions . It is sort of a creole cuisine . They have good bread - I could eat a big round loaf of it esp when it is newly baked ! Everything they make is great and I can't think of anything I disliked except that it is high end and a little pricey but every morsel is worth it !

Went for a late lunch. Wonderful place. Husband had oysters that were fresh. I had tuna salad. All so good.

Just came from Tommy's Oyster Bar and Restaurant on Bay Area Blvd north of the NASA complex. Have always loved their seafood, oysters, atmosphere and service. They probably have the best combo of good food and class at reasonable prices. As usual, we were not disappointed tonight. My wife had grill salmon that was cooked perfectly. Too many restaurants overcook salmon till it's dry. I had my longtime favorite Pecan crusted Redfish. A healthy size filet of fish lightly coated in a chopped pecan powder then grilled to perfection. Salads are included with an entree as is very nice veggie trio. The house salad dressing is great. They also have a very popular oyster bar happy hour. They have them raw, baked and grilled and they are great in season. The major problem with Mommy's is getting in on popular days unless you make a reservation early, but that's the price of going somewhere so popular. If you land a spot, be sure to look around a little. You may be seated next to an active of former astronaut! .

What an excellent restaurant! After clearing the greeters.... Left standing, no help with a drunk from the bar. No help with how long will you be we have some tables available for 90 minutes. Thankfully I was able to do there job for them. Once in the restaurant, what a change! Truly excellent service. I understand they even have cut price dozen oysters on a Friday. Will be back. And I'm gonna see if I can enter the building by alternate means than the greeters :-)

Whatever it is...Tommy's is doing great and unlike most I think it gets better every time we go. Recently went for my birthday, I laughed at my daughters for ordering some fried chicken at at "seafood" restaurant...then I tasted it and wished I had gotten the chicken. Everything we had was excellent.

Wonderful food and fantastic service. Ask for Mike! Best waiter ever! Voodoo Shrimp were the bomb. Can't wait to go back!

One of the best restaurant in Houston, not cheap but very good for a European's people! The service is wonderful, like the food, I'm stay there for a business trip and if I will return in Houston in the future I will dinner again at the tommy's restaurant !

It was a very sultry day in League City and we did not have any engagements for the morning. We had a hankering for fried fish – fried catfish, in particular! Internet to the rescue. After mauling over a few restaurant menus, reviews, we decided upon Tommy’s Restaurant and Oyster Grill. We read that the wait staff at this place was very nice and Leigh Ann was, in the words of one reviewer: “Leigh Ann who was the sweetest person on the planet.” As luck would have it, we got her as our server! Per Leigh Ann’s suggestion we ordered dozen oysters on half shell (Tuesday 12 for $8). It came with cocktail sauce and a wonderful brain-freeze horseradish sauce! For the entrée we both ordered blackened catfish. It was accompanied with mixed green salad on the side. Corn (not our favourite), a dollop of seasoned mashed potato and stir-fried squash. Everything was just rightly cooked and delicious! Point of interest: The straws for the water were not plastic, more like paper! This place seems to take our environment seriously!

I went with a group, and we were seated in a room to the side of the main dining room, which was nice because we could hear to talk to each other. The lights are dim, there are tablecloths, and it is a rather romantic atmosphere. Service was a little slow; our waiter seemed to be responsible for quite a few tables, but we all ordered and got our food in a fairly timely fashion. We were there early enough to order off the happy hour menu, which offers quite a few specials. Unfortunately, I don't think I made the best selections. I ordered 6 fried oysters for $10; the oysters were tiny. I also ordered fried green tomatoes for $6, which could have been eggplant parmigiana because the breading on the tomatoes and the tomato sauce it was served in tasted just like eggplant parmigiana to me; I didn't care for it. It was served with onion strips piled at least 8 inches high (I am not kidding). Greasy--gave them to the people I was with. So, still hungry, I thought I would try one more thing--a dozen oysters on the half shell for $6, served nicely in a bed of ice. These were delicious. The fish tacos on the happy hour menu for $7 looked very good, as did the burger with fries and the catfish that others in the party got. I just ordered the wrong things. While waiting for service, tables had delicious bread with herbed olive oil dip; both were extraordinary. Tommy's is a little expensive; even with my cheap happy hour menu and a glass of wine, my bill was over $31.

This has become a regular lunch spot for my wife and me. I can’t comment extensively about the menu as we always get oysters and wine followed by apps or salad which, thus far, have all been great. On our latest visit we started with raw oysters which were nice and plump. My wife followed up with a very nice cup of gumbo and I had a beautiful salad with perfectly seared and seasoned tuna. On prior visits we’ve had calamari, shrimp salad, and the baby spinach salad. Wines are nice, service is great, dining room is open, spacious, and the large windows keep it nice and bright during the daytime. We always have a great meal. Just go.

Having been a regular customer of Tommy's for many years and experienced many excellent meals and happy hours with friends and family alike, I was dismayed to experience a recent miserable evening stop at Tommy's. Seems that Tommy's has changed hands and is now being operated a a run of the meal neighborhood stop and go instead of a pleasant and comfortable neighborhood restaurant it had been famous for for many years. Everything must change with time??? Does it have to be for the worse? Decor has. Hanged to cheap and dull. Wait staff are unattentive and poorly dressed. Cleaners where at ever corner of the restaurant areas during dining ours. Bar tender just didn't care and had a poor attitude. Bar cook was using the food cooler as his private fridge for drinks. No gloves no hair covers. Use of microwave for everything!!! Food wasn't cooked! I cancelled my takeaway because I was concerned with the cooking process being demonstrated, level of cleanliness and staff appearance and was never asked why. And last but not least, the new manager (I think it was the manager??) never acknowledged or ask why I cancelled my meal, to fish!!! Do not waste your time or money on the new Tommy's.

I first visited Tommy's Restaurant & Oyster Bar years ago with my late wife, at the urging of my favorite astronaut, who said I should not die before having the half-shell oysters at Tommy's. They were wonderful, as predicted. This has been a family operation headed by Tom Tollett, who is dedicated to preserving Bay oysters, not merely serving them. It's not far from the University of Houston Clear Lake campus along Bay Area Boulevard between Space Center Blvd and Middlebrook Drive--an island of elegance amid offices and a neighboring McDonalds. A recent renovation has left the place sleek, and there has been a consistent aura of good taste that time has only burnished. It's casual till sundown, ritzy after sunset. This visit was a mid-afternoon solo expedition. I finished work early, and decided to fortify myself before shopping for a white elephant gift for an upcoming Christmas party with friends. Evenings, Tommy's recommends reservations; at ~ 2:30, between lunch and happy hour, there was plenty of (free, off-street) parking, and I was greeted and eventually served by the warm and professional woman who was also tending Tommy's spacious bar and lounge. I've uploaded some interior pictures. One enters to a host's station, seasonally bolstered by a nicely decorated Christmas tree. The bar and lounge opens ahead of the entrance, with two additional dining spaces to the right as you proceed into the restaurant. On a sunny afternoon, I chose a window seat in the central dining area. In the third, inner sanctum room, a joyful group of ladies were sharing wine, laughter, and gifts. Most of my meal will appear, if TripAdvisor publishes this review and my shots. I had a Dos Equis, nicely dressed by my server, water with lemon, complimentary bread with olive oil and herbs, and a small salad with house dressing, and the Seafood Pasta entree. All were delicious, fresh, and garnered with the freshly ground pepper my hostess provided. Not shown is the small glass of excellent port that topped off this fine early supper. So: A gem, hidden in plain sight, well known to the space community and other veteran gourmets in this Clear Lake neighborhood, founded and operated by a benefactor of the Galveston Bay oyster ecosystem. Fine dining at moderate prices (for the tier of serious gourmets). Highly professional staff. Hospitable and pleasant for plain folks and trendsetters alike. Hope to see you there!

We enjoyed the food and will be back for dinner soon due to the fabulous food and stellar service provider by our waiter, Gregory. The gumbo, stuffed trout and bread pudding were standouts.

Oysters were great. Steaks were prepared like we asked. Great service. I called the manager Carlos and told him this however all our veggies....broccoli and the sweet potato mash was cold. He asked me where I was sitting and I told him and knew exactly where we were at. He remembered my group. Then his response was “I walked by your table and everyone was having a great time”. In other words he basically called me a liar. He offered no apology or explanation or hey come see me next time you are in. Nothing. Perry’s, Pappas family, would have handled this differently.

Friday special, ate at the bar, best fresh oysters around, great bar food and bar specials, really look forward in $6 a dozen oysters

Arrived at 6pm just in time for 30 minutes left of Happy Hour. Ordered a dozen oysters and a martini. We started off with a fried green tomato that was served with a marinara sauce that has a smokey finish. I think it was adobo sauce. It was very good. I had the Asian tuna. It was well prepared and very tasty. Other members of the party had steaks which they both enjoyed. Maria, the server was outstanding. She was very attentive and suggested good wines to go with our choices. To make sure we liked the wine, she gave us a sample before serving it. The last time i was at this restaurant was before the renovation. It is open quiet and comfortable on a Monday night.

Fantastic atmosphere, incredible oysters perfectly balanced with garlic and cheese simply complemented by Chardonnay way to go

Would have been a five but the Strip steak was underwhelming.. There was no seasoning on the steak and it was a little tough. The Colossal Shrimp was VERY good. The Tuna on the Broiled Seafood platter was good. I also got a free desert because it was my birthday.. BREAD PUDDING... GREAT...

Had great food and service at this restaurant last night. Evan is a very attentive and quality server. Our meal was fantastic. Will be going back!

I live in Boston, but routinely eat at Tommy's in Clear Lake. Order anything on the menu: your meal will always be incredibly delicious and the service excellent. For appetizers, we love the crab cakes, calamari, or escargot. Any of the steaks are spectacular cuts of meat and I love the shrimp. The key lime pie is out of this world. Conveniently located near NASA's Space Center!

We went for dinner for my husband's birthday. He had a steak, and I had fried shrimp. The food was very good. We enjoyed the meal very much. Good food, and our service was very good. Would return for special occasion. Somewhat pricey, but we took food home. Generous servings. We were with my daughter, son-in-law, and one year old granddaughter.

We took our daughter for her 25th birthday and it was just as good as it had been when she was 15 and had her first hostess job at Tommy's! We had not been there in years, but it did not disappoint. Our waiter was excellent and knowledgeable, which was great since we all ordered very different items. Everything from the fried green tomatoes to the crispy salmon to the filet was so tasty and fresh. My mom loved the bread pudding. My only suggestion, I had my filet covered with a wine sauce. It was a little heavy. Should have been a taste and not a gravy.

This a Anniversary dinner of about 22 people. We were in a private room and it was wonderful. Service was great and the food was outstanding. I had one of the specials, steak and shrimp with asparagus. My wife had the grouper. Both were perfect. The grouper was as good as you get in Florida.

Crawfish au gratin oysters, pecan crusted redfish, phylo wrapped salmon & seafood gumbo were tasty. Beer & cocktail selection was good and reasonably priced.

Great food and service. Oysters are excellent. Seafood is too! Have dined there several times and always great service and good. Enjoy it every time.

I have been here twice now and plan to visit regularly. The happy hour offerings and prices cannot be beat. Raw oysters for $8/lb - so fresh and delicious. This restaurant offers excellent service and food. I have been very pleased. Also seating was prompt - I'd called ahead for a reservation and was rewarded by being placed in a quiet room in a corner - perfect for me and my friends to enjoy a relaxing delicious dinner. The seafood is very fresh and prepared beautifully. You cannot go wrong here!

Been here many times. The food is always good and the attentive wait staff are excellent. Local hangout but highly suggest anyone try it out. Oysters are the best around. Salmon baked in phillo dough is excellent. Prices are ressonable for the quality of food served. Happy hour specials offer great value during the week before 6:30pm.

We have been to Tommy's many times but the last two times will likely be our last. Service was terrible, even though the restaurant was only half full. Food was only so-so; not our experience in the past. We were told that the head chef had the night off - not a good response. Better seafood can be had at a local chain - Pappas.

Do not eat here if you need gluten free food. I specifically told our server that I had a gluten allergy and asked what was safe or if they had a separate menu. She assured me everything could be made gluten free except the fried food and mashed potatoes. I ordered a broiled seafood plate and again specified that I needed this gluten free and that it was an allergy not a preference. She brought out my meal and the vegetable plate had mashed potatoes on it and the stuffed shrimp looked as though it probably had gluten in it. It took awhile to get her attention to ask and she said she would ask the chef. I also pointed out there were mashed potatoes on the vegetable plate. She took that plate back. Sometime later she returned and said the chef wasn't available to ask and she couldn't communicate with the person who cooked it because he didn't speak much English. She brought me a fresh plate of vegetables and offered me a few extra shrimp to make up for the stuffed shrimp. At this point there was zero confidence in whether or not my meal was gluten free. The extra shrimp came out after the whole table had been cleared and we had waited about 5 minutes more. At no time did the manager come to talk with us. When the bill came I asked if my meal had been comped because she served me gluten. She took the check and said she would talk to the manager. She came back and said she had personally out of her own pocket taken off $10. As we were leaving I stopped and let the manager know about our experience and she was right there which felt weird. Overall a really bad experience but my company was awesome which made up for it.

But the vibe was like they were better than any other restaurant in the local area. We ordered an appetizer and they gave us the wrong appetizer and then charged us for it? Just saying,... the food was good yes ... the service good yes ... but not seeing how they were any better than anyone else.

My wife and I went 10/31 at happy hour, which has very decent prices. $4.50 house wine (excellent) and $5/doz. oysters (not chilled, but still tasty). She decided to try another menu item - drunken shrimp at $8. Six shrimp served on a bed of plain white rice to another nearby patron. She asked can they substitute pasta for the rice? Yes, but at a $5 extra charge. Then they offered crab added to the dish. How much I asked. $14 rather than $8. All in all one would have expected a total charge of $19 for the dish. Really this is rather expensive for the small portion that was served. Then came the bill - $8 for the drunken shrimp - sans rice. $14 for the two tablespoons of crab meat added, and then to top it off...$8 extra for the pasta substitution. $30 total for a modest sized portion of decent enough, not special, bar food. I questioned the bill and was assured by Cindy, the bartender that there would be no adjustment. So there went Cindy's tip. That was the first time in my nearly 68 years I have stiffed a server. Moral of the story, decent enough food, but do not make any changes to their dishes, or ask for anything "special". They will hammer you unmercifully.
Came here on a whim...
The wife and I decided to try Tommy's last weekend after we decided we didn't want to drive to far to eat. We ordered escargot as an appetizer and it was surprisingly very good. The wife ordered the tuna and it came out perfectly cooked medium rare and it was extremely good. I ordered a bowl of seafood gumbo which was just okay, I'll order something different on our next visit. Total bill including a lemon drop martini was $70 which I thought was fair.
