Great food and atmosphere!

By captaingunn |

If you like French food with that traditional country flair, you'll like this place. It's a unique find in a beautiful, upscale (yet quaint) part of Dallas. The service was great, and the manager was very welcoming. The warm brie is so good and a perfect starter to a country French meal. I had the roasted salmon, and it was done just right. The vegetables that came with it were fresh and delicious. The only part of the meal I'd improve is the French bread they bring out with each meal. It was good, but not warm. It's not always served warm, I realize, but it would've been a bit softer and more satisfying if it were. The candles and low lighting in the front part of the restaurant were so nice for a romantic evening out. And the music was well-suited to this type of restaurant. I will definitely be going back. Nice meal and experience all around.

Great ending to our France in Texas Valentines

By Steve S |

My wife and I ate at the restaurant after attending the "American in Paris" Musical at Fair Park. Thought this would be a great way to end the day. The food was excellent and the atmosphere over the top! I had the Poulet Roti and my wife ate the Short Rib Bourguinon. The beef and chicken were excellent and the meat was very tender. That is the best rotisserie chicken I have ever ate! We had the chocolate lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream and caramel for dessert. Excellent way to end the meal! I want to come back again and try additional items and desserts on the menu as well as some wine! Towards the end of the dessert, the weather had cooled down enough that the wait staff opened the roof of the patio and pulled up the sun shades. Our table was near a doorway that opened on to the patio. Wow!! Did not want to leave!!

If 10 french people choose to dine here- it it must be good!

By Runtoseetheworld |

A great night was had for our friend's farewell party. The maitre'd was very thoughtful and even provided a soufle on the house as part of the celebration! I wasn't a huge fan of the charcuterie board (but then again, unlike the rest of my table- I'm not french) but my bouillabaisse was excellent.

A touch of France in Texas

By CreateConnects |

A charming bistro feel with interesting cocktails and a varied menu. I had an amazing salade nicoise and others in our group enjoyed fish. They provided a sparkler on the dessert choice to celebrate a birthday.

A night in Paris, almost.

Friends suggested we eat dinner at Toulouse which I had never been too. Valet parking is plentiful and easy. The French bistro look and feel is evident, particularly if you eat on the porch outside. We chose the cooler climate controlled inside experience. I started with the Lobster Bisque, which was disappointing. It was clearly sitting in the kitchen waiting to be delivered to me, because the soup arrived with a thin layer of "skin" at the top, and it had lost some warmth. I should have sent it back. My main entree was Dover Sole Meunière, a very sizable portion expertly filleted at table side by the server. It was quite tasty, as were the vegetables accompanying. We split the chocolate mousse dessert which was rich, creamy and very tasty. All in all, I'll return because it's a good operation but will likely skip the soup next time.

Very good but not great

Enjoyed a very nice meal ... a real change of pace for Dallas, but for if you are looking for outstanding French cuisine, Toulouse may not fulfill your highest expectations. While the service was very friendly and attentive, the decor was just mediocre. Also a little noisy.

Fabulous dinner tonight at Toulouse

By Kid55 |

Fabulous dinner tonight at Toulouse. Their impeccable service and cozy atmosphere only adds to the scrumptious dinner items to choose from. We had escargot, salad nicoise, steak tartar and short ribs, all excellent in taste and presentation. And for dessert, you must try their lavender creme brûlée or profiteroles...the perfect ending to a great meal. Abigail took great care of us, along with others only meaning to please. It was so refreshing to see the restaurant bustling and patrons out and about once again enjoying a fine meal. At Toulouse you will find that fine meal.

Paris in Dallas

Love going to eat here as it reminds me of a little restaurant in Paris. Nice music, great cocktails, and fantastic food. The soufflés are outstanding. Be sure to order one when you place your dining order.

Best French Food in Dallas

By Karen W |

Now I know Dallas is known for their BBQ, but there is just so much BBQ one can eat (and I do eat a lot.) So for my daughter's birthday we figured we'd try a French place. It was like being back at the bistros in Paris. My daughter started with the escargot. Everyone dipped their bread in her dish to get to the amazing garlic butter. They served complimentary cheese puffs, which were to die for. We also had a beautiful pate. I got filet tornados in an unbelievable sauce and my husband got the tuna, very flavorful. For desert we got the soufflé which was brought out with sparklers for the birthday celebration and served with a wonderful sauce. We ordered a wine that was about $50 a bottle, and when the said they were out we were so disappointed. When the waiter suggested a another wine from the St. Emillion region, I was taken aback since that wine was $30 more then our first choice. Then he said we would get it for the same price. We ordered two. Fantastic meal. Great service. Cool atmosphere.

Savory and Satisfying

By Birdinhandtwo |

My daughter and I chose to return to Toulouse after a long absence, having fond memories of their Beef Bourguignon. We were not disappointed. It is tender, flavorful, and warmly satisfying, like a long-remembered specialty of a mother’s Sunday dinner, but with a richer gravy. That was my daughter’s dish, of which I only savored one bite. I ordered the chestnut ravioli, garnished with leek and roasted apples and a decadent brown butter sauce. The dish held the perfect balance of flavor—the ravioli filling was creamy and hearty, while the pasta was delicately thin. We both had a glass of the Syrah, which wasn’t too dry, but was instead warm, with only light tannic flavor and excellent roundness. The aftertaste was equally as delicious. The wine brought out the tender, bold flavor of the bourguignon, and the sweet, crisp taste of the apple shreds on the ravioli. We finished our meal with the chocolate soufflé, the sauce of which didn’t disappoint. Next time, I’d Ike to bring my mother for a meal that, I hope, she feels is as good as homecooked too.

Wonderful French Bistro

Toulouse offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, delicious food and great service! We really enjoyed our experience and are looking forward to our next visit!

No body does it better...!

For over 40 years Alberto has opened traditional as well as new concept restaurants, most of which have been highly successful. Many of his staff has been with him most of those years and know how what he expects and to please the customer. The pepper steak w/frites is superb and my wife loved her salmon. Everyone is so down to earth and it is a charming place just to chill out and relax, take your time eating, people watch and make you feel kind of Italian for an evening. Keep it up Alberto! Larry

Early Valentine Dinner

By Glenn Davidson |

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Toulouse last night. It was a great experience. When we arrived we were greeted warmly at the door and everyone including our waitress was very friendly and attentive. This is a lovely place for a date. The music os soft which allows you to hold a conversation without raising your voice. My wife started with the house salad and I had the Lobster Bisque. Both were wonderful. My wife had the Beef Stroganoff special and I had the special Cod. The dinners were absolutely delicious. We shared the Chocolate Mousse for desert. It was superb. We were greeted again as we left thanking us for coming. The whole experience of dining at this restaurant was wonderful.

Great brunch

By russkwtx |

We went here for brunch on a Sunday. It's been on my bookmark list for quite some time but I thought it was located somewhere else that is a hassle to park but I was wrong. Parking is easy and so my fears were for naught. We sat on the patio and overlooked Knox before it got too hot. Not sure if there is AC but I would assume so. We perused over the breakfast menu but were in the mood for something different other than the usual eggs, waffle, or omelette. So we checked the pictures online and found some interesting things and asked if those were offered. Yep. You just need to ask for the lunch menu which is also served from 9 am. I ended up with the cheese platter ($18) for four types of cheeses with some honeycomb, figs, green apples, and grapes. It was really good and exactly what I was craving. I would get it again in a heartbeat. The wife ordered the charcuterie platter and loved it ($18). There were about six or so different meats and each was excellent. She especially loved the blood sausage and pates. I also ordered the shrimp BLT ($15). It was really good but hard to eat because the shrimp kept falling out. The shrimp were pretty big and cooked perfectly. There was bacon but it was really fatty so I took it out. But the flavors were accented with the avocado. It actually was not too much to eat and complemented the cheese board well. Our server was very attentive and helpful, very nice young woman named Jackie. Throw in a couple of bloody Mary's (and a nap afterward) and you pretty much have a perfect Sunday morning. We really liked our experience and will return.

Feels like France

By Matt Blum |

Having just returned from Paris, I wasn't quite ready to cut myself of from the cuisine. Luckily, this gem is nestled nicely in the quiet heart of the city and the food is marvelous. The decor makes you feel like you're in Paris enjoying the true flavors of France. You won't be disappointed.

Great brunch spot for ladies get together!

By BKPaints |

Went here with a group of ladies for my birthday brunch and everything from the mimosas to the food to the service was impeccable! I highly recommend the orange french toast - one of my favorites in Dallas!

Dependable.

By Nickie N |

Always good. Nice crowd, nice wine list and full bar. Good people watching from side walk terrace. Menu leans toward french cuisine. They have a chalkboard with specials that change everyday. Good for early dinner and after theater. Vibrant lunch scene. Recommended.

Delicious and fresh

By brighteye00 |

This popular neighborhood restaurant can always be counted on for a pleasant meal. The Sunday brunch is even better with their signature brunch cocktails. Great French coffee and clean, fresh ingredients. Service can be spotty when it's busy, but that's to be expected in such a popular place. Fun to people watch from the open air patio or sidewalk tables.

Great Choice for lunch today!!

Great Choice for lunch today!! They are so good at Food and service even during Covid-19. Love this place!!!

Paris Cafe right next to the Katy Trail

By Bruce P |

Visited on a wet Sunday morning following a good walk along the Katy Trail. It looked liked the real thing from the outside, and kind of felt like it too on the inside, and then I was served my espresso, and I was in Paris. Breakfast was very good. Began with Beignets with an espresso caramel sauce - perfect just like I enjoyed them in Brussels. Sauce was a little too sweet so it tasted like it overpowered the coffee, but then I was drinking an espresso with them. Had the egg white omelet. It was perfectly cooked, just firm and a good level of caramelization on vegetables inside showing that they had been properly cooked before folding them into the omelet. Flavor was a little bland, but nothing that a little tabasco could not fix - the waiter was very quick to bring that to the table.

Merci

By Suzana K |

It's wonderful to have France in Dallas!! We enjoyed a restful afternoon with a couple bottles of wine. The wine was not cheap but since it was good it was worth it. Our waiter, Isidoro, was awesome and a true compliment to our experience. We had the mussels and sole, two French specialties and bother were excellent. We also has some expressos. The entire afternoon was wonderful. We were celebrating the completion of a big exam.

Very nice dinner

By 860SusanB860 |

Located in a very trendy area of Dallas, Toulouse was a nice choice for a date night dinner. Valet parking is located across the street and we arrived early to avoid the main dinner crowd. We were seated on the little covered patio and it was very nice - though very dark when the sun set. Our waiter was very personable and was quite lively and funny. We started with a Chanel No. 6 champagne cocktail and a mint gimlet and both were quite nice. The cheese board was a hit! It had grilled French baguette slices, 4 kinds of cheeses, fruit, prunes, walnuts and honeycomb. The artisan cheeses were all exceptional and the portions were perfect. We followed up with French onion soup and it was hot, cheesy and delicious. Loved it! For entrees, we ordered the braised short ribs with noodles and an Alaskan halibut special with beet risotto and brussels sprouts. Both were nice portions and were well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. We finished the meal with souffles. They were both very airy and light but were a little too "light" on flavor. The chocolate had a faint milk chocolate taste and and the Grand Marnier had more of a slight tangerine taste. Overall, the night was most enjoyable. My only complaint was that when we ordered a second round of drinks - both came in totally different glasses with different fruit additions and completely different tastes. I am not sure what happened there - if bartenders switched or our orders got messed up. Who knows?

Great evening

By rhpatt29 |

We had dinner for 6 and 2 of them children under 10. From the moment we arrived for our reservations until we left, the staff was friendly, available and accommodating to our every request. The food was excellent. Tournedos of beef with an excellent mushroom sauce, crispy duck, a Niçoise salad and the quiche du jour. The two boys ordered the filet of beef with no sauce and a chicken dish with frites. The staff split the plates so that the bus could share both dishes. He wine list was excellent. Prices are moderate, IMO. Service is fantastic. Bistro atmosphere. Definite return since this was our first visit

New menu is a disaster

By Richard D |

This place was awesome. It has been our brunch place for years. Unfortunately they are changing the menu to safe money. The steak tartar is now mixed with boiled egg? The tuna tartare is more avocado than tuna. I hope management still has the vision to correct this trend.

Good time, good food

By Mark K |

We had heard of the restaurant, but had never been. We took our son and daughter-in-law there for their anniversary along with another couple it was great. Escargot, onion soup, lobster bisque, everything we tried was great and the drinks were well made with a heavy pour. It was a little pricey for every week, but for anniversaries and such it was great.

Cute place/good food/ so so service

By 0beachbum0 |

Good- In nice neighborhood, free street parking, outdoor covered patio, food is good, interior is nicely decorated to look like a typical French cafe Average- Nice staff but- we sat in back and the table in far back next to us was for wait staff on break or folding napkins or whatever and they were talking to each other loudly disturbing our conversation. Our waiter was nice but not particularly attentive. Had to flag him down for water refill etc. Bad- door open to restaurant and patio so LOTS of flies inside the restaurant. They seated us in back and we counted 7-8 flies on window sill (alive) by us and several touching down on our food the entire lunch. Think they need a screen door or a blocker of some type as I wouldn't go back in hot weather again. I likely wouldn't go back due to the experience and the many restaurant options but its not a bad choice based on the decent food and cute atmosphere.

Great Food and Location

By Johnny M |

Toulouse is a fantastic dining experience in the Knox Henderson shopping area. Hands down the best French Onion soup in town not too mention their delicious items on their menu. Great for a full meal, light lunch or just a glass of wine with friends.

Always great experience!

By Irina p |

This old favorite is true to the style of Paris bistro complete with a red patio awning and relaxed French-style service. Come for a weekend brunch and linger around, enjoying coffee and people watching. The menu has remained unchanged throughout the years, which is wonderful for those of us that are creatures of habit.

Great Lunch at Neat French Bistro

By Ralph C |

We were hungry and we stopped here by accident. I'm sure glad we did. Very good food at decent prices. Friendly and efficient service. The folks there could not be nicer. The dining room is comfortable and attractive. We look forward to returning for dinner.

Mussels!

By Hannah K |

I had a really lovely experience here. The staff was very nice and helpful. The atmosphere was very fun and quaint. I had the mussels provencal and they were excellent. The sauce was delicious! Overall great experience.

fantastic food but a bit pricey

By ivy_jim |

Meal for seven on a Saturday evening was no problem with reservations. Service was excellent, food was fantastic, wine and dessert was delicious. It was a bit pricey at $430 with a group appetizer. Nonetheless I would recommend this to anyone with a love of great food.

French Bistro in Knox Henerson

By kcwKeyWest_FL |

This is a hopping part of Dallas Uptown. A great walkable neighborhood with much to see and do. Toulouse brings a bit of French bistro cuisine to this thriving neighborhood. We sat on the patio for Sunday morning brunch. Though I couldn't make a reservation, the wait was not long - perhaps 20 minutes. The food, service and ambiance are all top notch.

Post covid: very very covid conscious

By CliveWatkins |

Still great as one of the best patio brunch restaurants in the Lombardi brand. Always great service, now is no different. Greeted warmly and everyone had a mask on that was there. All the workers of course, but people coming and going were all masked as well. Good to see that the attention was given to this obvious caution. Great steak and egg brunch, the quiche is always good, today no different . Fair prices, fair wine list and everything comes out as you like it. This should be noted, this patio is always packed, and people wait, but today, every other table was full, with more spaced and thinned our setup. To not let restaurants like this earn would be tragic.

Favorite brunch!

By LDM |

When I’m in Dallas the Sunday brunch is at Toulouse! We had the French toast that comes with mascarpone cheese and berries and also Waffles. The Steak and frites with bearnaise sauce is something you have to try!

Thank you Liz!

Stopped by for a lovely brunch, walked in right off the Katy Trail. Great food, lovely patio ambiance, and excellent fresh squeezed orange juice. Thanks to Liz and the team for great service and attention to my food allergies!

Our trip to one of the few French Restaurants in Town!

By Lance F |

Well, I stopped here on a whim with my wife and kids. Not necessarily dressed for this restaurant but ok we stopped anyway as I wanted to celebrate with a nicer restaurant. Not exactly family friendly more like a couples restaurant and that is mainly what I saw in there. Definitely pretentious wait staff so got the true French effect on that end. Nice older gentleman playing the accordion which was very nice but apparently you are expected to tip here a min $10 for gracing you with his presence but he was good to the kids. No kids items on menu so had to pardon ourselves for being such hillbilly ( I did mention the pretentious wait staff?) You're a waiter dude not high society so get off your high horse (you know who you are!). Food took a while to get out for sure. Decent quality but portion size left a lot to be desired especially at the price they charge. I got out of there with a bill over $100 and had merely lobster bisque soup, kids had "custom made" chicken tenders and fries and my wife something very ordinary and bill was $100 before tip. Ouch, come on Frenchies your food is not that good! Anyway, 3 of 5 since quality was good and atmosphere was ok. I would say there are far better places to drop a C-note at !

Not what it used to be, but still very good

By FamilyMan1963 |

First, let me say that the meal was very good. It lacked excellence, but it was far from average fare. Instead of reducing the Bordelaise appropriately, it appears corners were cut: the flavor was not as intense as it should have been and they added far too much flour to add volume to the sauce. The Lamb Chop was excellent quality, the presentation was beautiful, but it had not been appropriately marinated so was nearly flavorless. About a third of the muscles served never opened during the steaming process and so couldn't be eaten. There was a man in flimsy shorts and shirt with lots of sweat and body hair showing sitting at a table, while another couple came in there Lululemon Style tracksuits. In sum, the quality is still there in the food but the cooking skill seems to have been dumbed down in favor of perhaps speed and volume of service. The atmosphere is no longer one of fine dining.

A Little Bit of Paris

By jazzups75235 |

One of the two best restaurants for quiches in Dallas. Toulouse’s quiche is always light and cooked to perfection. It is served with a bib lettuce salad and a sweet tomato compote. Sitting on the covered patio, you would think you are in Paris.

Perfect stop near the Katy Trail

By Terry M |

Third visit to Toulouse Cafe after walking the Katy Trail. Guiltless pleasure after exercising on the walk, relaxed French cafe atmosphere, so sneakers and shorts are accepted. We go for the magnificently clean and fresh mussels. Our experiences say terrific service, great innovative salads, inspiring menu, extensive wine list, French style desserts, perfect for lunch. They bring extra plates to split dishes, provide spoons to share desserts. Elegant food, unpretentious staff. Love the place. Have never been for dinner as we've made a family tradition of lunching there when in Dallas.

An excellent celebration

By Nancy K |

We recently celebrated my daughter in laws birthday here for brunch. It was excellent. The service was great. We were a large party of 8 and they accommodated us easily. We started with beignets which were great. Omelets, waffles, French toast, and the French onion soup were all excellent. The crowning touch were the desserts. The lemon gran marniar soufflé was beautiful and melt in your mouth good. The crime brûlée was excellent as was the festive sparkler in the birthday girl’s apple tart! We will most definitely be back!

The menu was revamped

By Richard D |

This is my neighborhood brunch place. Outstanding service for many years. Something happened early 2016 that they made horrible changes to the menu. Went again for brunch late in 2017 to find out that the menu deficiencies were fixed. Cafe Toulouse has again the b st steak tartare in Dallas. Thank you for listening to your costumer, R

Perfect neighborhood bistro

By Cynthia M |

It just doesn't get any better than this......great food with authenticity served in a casual comfortable setting. We walked in off the Katy trail to have Saturday brunch. It's a bustling and lively atmosphere and we sat comfortably at the bar sipping sparkling wine and a Bloody Mary until a table on the patio was ready.......a prime people watching location. We both chose old favorites off the menu; Croque Madame and eggs florentine that did not disappoint. After a recent trip to New Orleans we required a taste of the Toulouse beignets. The authentic version of a partisan doughnut was magnificent with the espresso cream.

Best Mussels and Frites in Dallas !!

By Panchex |

This place is the best French bistro in Dallas! Service can be a difficult sometimes, but the food has always been great! Simple with great execution! My favorites are Charcuterie, Mussels and Frites, and Chocolate Soufflé! Prices are great, and quality is really good! Their French baguette with real butter is the best start ever! If you are in Dallas, and you love mussels, this is your place!!

Traditional French Fare in trendy Dallas neighborhood.

By Jim D |

For a after-Valentine's Dinner, we (2 ppl) enjoyed: Escargot @ $13 Oysters Rockefeller @ $15 Soupe a L'Oignon @ 10 Scallops @ $29 Duck 2-ways @ $29 Beignets & Coffee @ $9 (5 beignets but not sure of the coffee part as was charged extra for Expresso & Cafe au lait. Double Expresso @ $4.25 (Extra Charge?) Cafe au Lait @ $4.50. The roasted Duck portion was excellent. The seared duck seemed under cooked and was hardly edible. Other than that, the meal was excellent. Total price @as $143.15 with tip. Not sure if the price was entirely worth it.

Brunch Well Done!

By Gary T |

Went last Saturday with a family group of 10. Food was excellent and service was very good. The decor and ambience was very nice. A very nice place for brunch. The beef hash was wonderful, and the eggs benedict and orange french toast were great. Everyone had a great experience. Highly recommend this for a very nice brunch.

Great dog friendly French Restaurant

By Texas320 |

We visit Dallas probably once a month and usually have our Clumber Spaniel (Bounce) in tow. So we always look for a restaurant that accepts well behaved dogs. Bringfido.com is an excellent site to find pet friendly places. The Toulouse has sidewalk seating with a covered area in the event of rain, which we had on our Friday visit. We were pleasantly greeted and seated in a corner. Bounce attracted a lot of attention as usual. The service was prompt and attentive. We ordered the mussels and pomme frites combination as an appetizer. Being a French restaurant, the beer selection is limited, but the wine list has numerous excellent selections. We had a New Zealand Pinot Noir. For our entree my spouse had the tuna carpaccio and I the frog legs. Both were excellent and reasonably priced. The bread is to die for, especially when soaked in the mussel broth or the sauce on the frog legs. We had an excellently prepared Espresso and Capuccino. The manager came by and introduced himself and inquired if Bounce was happy. After petting the pup, he returned to the kitchen and brought Bounce one of the house biscotti's, which the pup loves. A great experience, and we will definitely return.

Love this restaurant

By Linda D |

We eat here for brunch every time we are in Dallas. Superb eggs Benedict, which I always have. This place is very busy on Sunday noon, so come around 10:00. Has outside seating as well and some people bring their dogs. If the weather is especially nice seating fills up by 10:00 a..m. Service is excellent and matre 'd is very helpful and accommodating. Not sure if they take reservations.

Perfect place to sample French cuisine!

By NorthTXRealtor |

I love this little place in Dallas down Knox Henderson. Parking can be tricky, but there is a valet. The restaurant is so charming and the staff is friendly. I have been here on special occasions with my French-speaking friends twice. I usually get the steak-frites (I think it is called entrecote and frites on the menu) with a cheese plate. The wine list is extensive, as it should be in a French restaurant. My friends orchestrated with the staff to surprise me with a birthday present and a free dessert. It was delicious and the whole evening was delightful.

Delicious food in a fun neighborhood.

By Lrph |

Loved my salmon dish! I will be going back with my husband, I'm wanting to try the gnocchi and steak!

Overall good French restaurants, unfortunately one employee destroyed my impression

By Thomas Wikman |

We visited Toulouse restaurant a couple of weeks ago for my birthday. The food was good and the service friendly and prompt, and the manager/owner is a nice guy. Unfortunately, something happened that should not happen, which is why I am giving a negative review. I forgot my credit card at the restaurant and following that I got a treatment that was scary. I called them and told the employee who answered that I believe I left my credit card at the restaurant. The employee who answered (I did not take his name) said that we have a stack of them. I gave him a description of my card and I tried to give him my name. However, I was not able to finish telling him my name when he interrupted me. He was curt and acting dismissive and told me, “we don’t have your card, it probably fell between the seats of your car”. I’ve gone to many restaurants in my life, and I left my credit card a few times and people usually want to know your name and will take the time to look for it. This felt too abrupt. Therefore, I did not believe this employee, so we drove to the restaurant and low and behold they had my credit card. It took the manager 10 seconds to find it. I had been lied too about something very important. If you are too busy to deal with a lost credit card, then ask the person to call back, or you can call them back, but you don’t arrogantly lie to them to get rid of them. Lost/left credit cards are important business. Again, the manager/owner was very nice, but I am sorry, with an employee doing that to a customer, that’s just disturbing.

Delighted

By Yippie-Yi-O |

The atmosphere here is very cozy. The food was delicious I enjoyed my dinner and a dessert. The staff were attentive, making for an all-around wonderful evening.

Amazing dinner, but go somewhere else for dessert.

By ZoricaAlastair |

The dinner in this place is amazing. Steak is of consistently great quality, even for Dallas, all the starters are amazing and the cheese board is to die for. Excellent wine list both by the bottle and glass with a nice variety and price. The only thing left to be desired is the dessert. Have had a choice from the menu and only the chocolate mousse is palatable. Very disappointing considering there's a souffle on the menu (it's not a souffle, it's sweetened egg whites whipped so they will achieve an impressive hight). The Tarte Tatin is not great either. Go for a sweet somewhere else until they hire a better pastry chef, but definitely try the dinner.

Always a Magical Escape

By Cocos_Life_Travels |

Toulouse is a favorite hangout for many well-known Dallasites and Highland Parkers. And for good reason. The dining room is well done, but the patio is simply magical. The food is quite good and I especially recommend the Sunday brunch. We like to take a Sunday stroll along the Katy Trail and then go to Toulouse - the beignets are hot and puffy, not flat and crispy as is becoming the sad norm in New Orleans. Never had less than a fabulous experience at Toulouse. Go there when you feel interesting, intelligent, artsy and want to really connect with your companion.

Consistent and good

By Ikemx |

A very good and consistent brasserie celebrated with friends a b'day. The French onion soup continues to be the best in town. Their pomes frites and steak are very good with a tasty bernaise sauce and a great soufflé

Brunch on Sunday in a Parisian Cafe

By Voltiguer1 |

Outstanding Steak with Bernaise Sauce; Outstanding Pate Foie Gras; Outstanding Sazerac; if you can't get to Paris for Brunch, Toulouse is the next best thing right down to the French waiter, small marble tables, dogs under the patio tables, jazz music, and people watching on the Katy Trail that wonders by.

Brunch failure

By Melissa0595 |

Just had a horrible experience at Toulouse. I sent back my omelet that wasn't prepared correctly and I was incredulous when it was prepared wrong the second time. The beignats are any thing but New Orleans style. They are dough balls covered in powdered sugar. Want a skim cappuccino? Forget it, they don't offer one. The service is rude and the restaurant was not spotless which is hard to believe at 10 AM. Needless to say I won't be back.

French Food without a French Attitude

By carlito631 |

We ate lunch this Christmas there, the food was great, service could not be better. I had Duck, my wife had trout, my son had scallops, my daughter had Lobster Bisque, all excellent.

This time, was a Poor Choice for a Special Occasion (Anniversary)

By Jim D |

Our 2nd visit here. Service was excellent. Of course, it was only 4:45pm and there was only one other couple there. Ordered and quickly received: Lobster Bisque (Excellent; Soupe a L'Oignon (Excellent); Escargot (Average with too much garlic and other stuff); Scallops (Poor, tough, small); Duck Two-Ways (1-drumstick, seared and ok, 1-breast, cooked poorly and about 1/2 fat) Total = $108.25 plus tip. Poor choice this time. Should have stopped with the soup. Probably will not return.

Bistro style

Great enclosed patio, great people watching, very good service and excellent food, a little touch of Europe style dining. Go there frequently and we are. never disappointed.

Orange French Toast

By Ashley G |

My husband and I ate here for brunch one Sunday morning and really enjoyed it. We got there early so it wasn't too busy. The atmosphere was fun and laid back. I ordered the orange french toast. It was delicious! I would definitely go back.

A Warm French Bistro

By MVSouthOC |

I love France and Bistro cooking. I am always looking for places which transport me to an evening in Paris. The décor at Toulouse is definitely authentic. It wasn't my waiter's fault, but he wasn't French, which takes something away from the experience. We ordered some of the favorites listed in other reviews. We started with the Escargots, which were good, but not special. The green salad was traditional and very good. I ordered the Filet au Poivre. I found the sauce to be lacking in bite, although it was very satisfying. We both ordered soufflés for dessert and they were lovely. I am overly critical of French cooking and service - but I will definitely be back for more!

A night to remember!

We were celebrating Michelle's birthday with a quick bite to eat before our Renoir class at SMU. It was heady! Cozy corner lit with festive light strings and a waiter who treated us like visiting royalty. If you're tempted to pass on the roasted chicken, "Poulet Roti," because it's, meh, chicken - DON'T! This exquisite creation is perfectly cooked, presented like it was ready for a photo shoot, and was, quite frankly, the best chicken I've ever had. Sorry, Toulouse, I was so engrossed in eating that I forgot to take a picture! I'll be back for more, promise!

Incredible food for a great meal

By Michael J |

A busy cafe-like restaurant in a charming part of town. We stopped at the bar for a cocktail before dinner. The cocktails were nothing special. We were seated on time at a Cafe style table for two. The atmosphere was bustling with a moderate to high level of noise. But the most important thing to know is that the food was absolutely incredible! We had the brie appetizer which came with a surprising garlic puree that really elevated the dish. The duck confit with lentils was the best I have ever had. The salmon came with balsamic glazed Brussels sprouts that really made the dish. I highly recommend an outing here.

This was our first visit to the Dallas location. We have also visited the Houston River Oaks restaurant. Food is delicious, with a wonderful wine list and excellent service.

Best Brunch!

By SGBD |

Classy, delectable, and perfection in an upscale eatery! We had steak and eggs with the best fries on the planet! The lobster frittata was absolutely divine, and you must indulge in the lobster bisque! Get the beignets! They are heaven on a plate. The waitstaff is polite and professional, and they anticipate each course. Anytime is a good time to eat French-style food in Dallas!

Dependably Yummy Food - Good for Entertaining

By Michelle A |

This is one of those dependable spots for good food to take friends, business associates or for a nice breakfast or dinner drinks. Breakfast is wonderful - love the french toast and coffee. Happy hour is fun - we love the french fries and mussels (French Room style). It's a festive spot for holidays - you can walk around Knox Street stores afterwards.

A bit of Paris on Knox St. - Dallas

By Dallas75220 |

There are many restaurants in Dallas which strive to be French. And then there is Toulouse which truly achieves it. It has the ambiance and the menu to transport you to your favorite sidewalk cafe or bistro for at least an hour or two...all without the jet lag. And if you are lucky you can practice your restaurant French with Serge. We have been going to Toulouse for years. The service, the food, the ambiance, the staff are all terrific. Toulouse is part of the Lombardi Family restaurants. Alberto Lombardi started with his Italian restaurant on Hall St. many years ago and now has a number of brands which flourish in the Dallas marketplace and other locations as well. But there is only one Toulouse and it is both Alberto and Serge who have done a great job in creating and making Toulouse the great French bistro it is.

Great spot for burnch

By Kathy F |

We had stopped in for drinks after dining at another nearby spot and one look at the menu told us we needed to come back. French onion soup is hard to find so I had to order this alon with thier mac and cheese another fav. Ok not your typical french food. Husband had the Belgin waffels and they were great. Overall this was a really nice out od=f the ordinary brunch experience for us. Beautiful day to sit on the patio. We plan to go back for a dinner and try the mussels. Yes its a bit pricy but a great treat.

Great Dining With Dogs

By Lee F |

Dog friendly seating in street side dining area. Service was efficient and attentive, despite restaurant being packed. Mussels large and juicy, with choice of three preparations. Chicken and trout both good. My only problem with this restaurant is the overwhelming noise. My partner and I finally just gave up trying to have a conversation. Because of this I probably wouldn't be motivated to return.

Great brunch and fun crowd

By Karen W |

Great brunch, love that you can sit on the patio when the weather permits and the drinks are fantastic as well!

Beautiful Atmosphere

By Yippie-Yi-O |

I love the atmosphere of Toulouse restaurant. I have been twice in service has been impeccable. The restaurant is warm and inviting and staff are gracious. I have enjoyed both the salmon and the petite entrecote. My companion said the trout almondine was very good. The bread and desserts are delicious as well. I highly recommend this place.

Quaint and Great food

By contempo_girl |

Was looking for a great french restaurant with the perfect atmosphere. Didnt want a stuffy formal place. Found it! Food was wonderful including my favorite escargot and had great service in an enjoyable atmosphere. It was a win win win

Classy ambiance, intimate

By Bonnie B |

Classy ambiance, intimate yet lively atmosphere. Dress up or dress classy casual. I love the french food and the french bistro feel. Its great for any kind of night out. Weve been for brunch and dinner many times and will be back many more!

The stuffy frogs phshaw

By davidsonh2016 |

“Oh”, my husband sighed, “not a snooty French restaurant.” I was giggling at the sight of him lapping up his delectable Trout Almandine and making excuses for doubling down on every slice of the bread explaining it was necessary to finish his glass of Pouilly Fuisse. My beet and goat cheese salad was the best looking plate and maybe the best tasting too. A nice blend of the vegetables nothing overpowering the other. Another thing I appreciate is the portions. I love leaving having had the right amount. Not too full! Such a pleasure to not be miserably stuffed!

First time at this popular Knox street bistro.

By DougGleaner |

Really enjoyed this place, sitting outside but away from the sun. Food and service were superb. Lucked out with a parking spot right on Knox. Lots of folks there today and they continued to arrive at 1:30 and beyond. Will return.

Excellent food and exceptional service!

By Dellamer |

I had an excellent meal at Toulouse one evening while on business for a week in Dallas. The service was A+. There seems to be a lot of staff in that restaurant and my waiter Francisco was attentive and very efficient. The ambiance was very pleasant, the décor reminded me of my student days in France from the chairs, to the tiles on the floor, and up to the textured ceiling. There was nice music and it was not too loud like in so many other places. The food was simply excellent! For starter, I had the delicious "Toulouse Salad" and my main dish combined the savoir-faire of French cuisine with a local Texas specialty:steak!... juicy and succulent! I thought prices were reasonable for the quality. I hope to go back and I highly recommend this place.

A little French in my Life

By Waxah |

This restaurant never disappoints! Has been voted best for Bloody Mary's and the food is of the same par. The French onion soup was excellent and the roasted chicken was juicy and tender. If you just want a sandwich, try the grilled shrimp BLT with frittes..OMG

Brunch at it’s finest

By bornfabulous |

This restaurant is a favorite of my family for dinner, we decided to try Brunch and to say it was amazing is an understatement! The food The menu the atmosphere simply fabulous! I can’t wait until next weekend so we can enjoy the most amazing selection of Brunch items !!! I highly recommend the eggs Florentine my husband is strictly eggs Benedict kinda guy “perfect “ every detail in the dish is executed to perfection ! Highly recommend Toulouse Legacy west patio !!!

Excellent Restaurant!

By BGR3 |

My wife and I visited this bistro after reading reviews in TripAdvisor; it exceeded expectations! The overall ambiance of the restaurant is very French, so much so that you think you are in Paris; the space is not too large and you can see most patrons come and go. The menu is varied with enough choices to satisfy everyone; I had the filet au poivre which was perfectly cooked with a delicious au poivre sauce! My wife had the mussels mariniere which she said were fabulous. This restaurant is a must in Dallas!

Would come again

By TXborn |

Booked the restaurant for a anniversary dinner so was expecting a little acknowledgement from restaurant or a nice seated area. We were seated too close to another couple by the restrooms where we could see the dirty vents. That’s the negative. Positive - staff were very friendly and inviting. Food was good. We had Mariniere mussels, ahi tuna tartare (amazing), lobster risotto was just ok but the salmon was the best I have ever eaten, cooked to perfection. We had profiteroles dessert which was good but not amazing and ended with cognac coffee with cream. I would definitely return again and try new dishes.

Great french influenced atmosphere

By Mauricio A |

The place is framed gby a french atmosphere that not only is present in their menu options, but also in the air. L Entrecotte is great, as well as thieir traditional pomme frittes. Shrimp salad is amazing. Ask for outdoor seating!

Great French cuisine. ,

By Jan4000 |

Sole was excellent. Great French restaurant. It reminds me of Paris. Has a very authentic atmosphere .

Solid, we had a nice evening

By Kate320 |

Service was great, food was very good, but the bread wasn't good and, here's the rub, the French onion soup was not at all good. Salty water, waxy cheese. I loved my salad and the bouillabaisse was really lovely. The three other dinners, gnocchi, salmon and trout (?) were very well received. Loved sitting outside and we had a long, really nice dinner together. It was not cheap, but ambiance and service were absolutely worth it.

Leisurely luncheon

By Hermann B |

Very family friendly European bistro style restaurant serving mainly French oriented fare with top quality and properly priced food and wines. Everyone is so helpful and attentive wanting us to even tip the busboys which of course we did. The maitre d is especially accommodative and on occasion the owner pops in for a little chat.

Good food with a New York City flair

By jguski1 |

A wonderful Christmas day dinner. Service was quick, especially notable as restaurant was packed to capacity. The food was well prepared and presented superbly. The New York flair is that the tables was very close together, just like a restaurant in NYC.

Excellent food and service

By Dallasgal56 |

We were a party of six adults and had made reservations ahead on Open Table. As we were arriving separately, we waited in the bar. The bartenders were attentive and the drinks were very good. They even opened a bottle of French "Sauvignon Blanc" style wine to help us decide--we loved it! We settled our bill at the bar, and were shown to our table. Although it was a round-top just outside the kitchen, it was quiet enough to allow for conversation. Our server, Patton, was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. A French baguette with plenty of butter was brought to the table as we reviewed the menu. We began with mussels (very tender) and foie gras (yum, served with crispy toast points). Most ordered from the menu and two of us ordered the 6oz. fillet & lobster special (make sure you ask the price! It is VERY pricey and the portion is quite small. It included a side of choice.) All of our entrees were delicious and served at the appropriate temperature. For dessert we enjoyed the beignets (not New Orleans style, but tasty) and creme brulee--both were large enough to share. Dinner was leisurely and relaxed, we never felt rushed. We are looking forward to our next visit soon.

Hire a new chef

By bitsy1111 |

We had a dinner with friends, 3 of us ordered steak and fries. Steaks were very tough, fries great. I ordered bouillabaisse and was very disappointed, few shrimp, bay scallops, and few small pieces of salmon BUT more than anything new potatoes. Potatoes in bouillabaisse!? It was a GREAT disappointment. Please hire a new chef.

New Plano location is perfection

What can I say....beautiful, delicious food and top notch service. Legacy West truly has gotten lucky with this gem. The vibe is great and so is the food. Can’t wait to go back!!!!

Easily the best meal we had during a week in Dallas

By Ghost |

I really enjoyed our brunch at Cafe Toulouse, The food was very good (high marks for the deviled eggs), the service was friendly and efficient, and the decor was restful.

Made me feel Nat Home

By Charles L |

The staff is very accommodating, the food is excellent. Parking is valet but worth it. Our family has made this place our annual Christmas day lunch. Good was delicious and very good portions.

Excellent

By russkwtx |

We went here for brunch on a Saturday and the experience was outstanding. Great service, great food, great weather, everything was excellent. We started with beignets and they were excellent. Not quite Cafe Du Monde but close. Very addictive. I had the shrimp louie salad and liked it a lot. The wife had the meat board and loved it. My mom had the Belgian waffle and really liked it. The little one had French toast and actually ate it. The ambience is upscale and sophisticated without pretension. My takeaway from the meal was that we need to come here more often! Can't wait to return.

Fabulous!

By S m |

My husband and I love Toulouse! We are not fans of heavy french food, but we love every dish we've tried at Toulouse. It is always busy but is worth a wait. I would suggest reservations. Patio seating is nice if the weather permits. (It is covered but could be hot in summer.) It sits right by the Katy trail so there is great people watching from that side of the patio. There are many tables squeezed into the restaurant so it would be hard to navigate with a wheelchair, stroller, crutches, etc. YUM-O! I'd recommend it to anyone!

Good Food, Nice Selections and Good Service

By SB S |

Wife's birthday treat. Very good service, excellent food and drinks. Enjoyed our afternoon here; no regrets.

Always Good

By TexFrenchy |

I generally go for the Mussels and Fries. This time was no different, although it's been over a year since we've been here. Hubby ordered duck confit, and he was very satisfied. We had no reservation; was late lunch time on Saturday; able to seat us promptly. Resto has outside (covered) dining and inside dining. It was a beautiful day, so we chose outside. Service was impeccable. Absolutely no complaints.

Great French Bistro in Dallad

By Dallastraveler49 |

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant because we have traveled extensively in France are very fond of French food. We were not disappointed. I started with the mussels and they were excellent and my wife had the beet and goad cheese salad. She also enjoyed her salad. For a main course she the short ribs and they were amazing. However I believe that the highest of the meal was my duck confit. It was wonderful. We had a nice bottomless Puech Haut which went nice with the meal. We also ordered Brussel sprouts and they were over the top tasty. For dessert we had an very tasty creame brûlée’s. We thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience.

French Local

By RandC31 |

The restaurant is friendly and welcoming with an atmosphere that takes you to a small spot in France. The food and drink are reasonably priced with good quality and service to match your needs...relaxed or quicker if you have other activities planned after dinner.

Martinis

By Nickie N |

At the small bar. Looking out toward the street side patio, this bar is virtually under used. It's a comfortable resting spot with a flat screen high in the corner(not in your face). Bar tender knows how to throw a tasty cosmo or perfect martini. Casual and relaxing.

Breakfast was okay

By Alice W |

We went on a Saturday morning. We know the food is a bit pricy but nonetheless we wanted to try. There was nothing very special about the breakfast/brunch menu. We ordered omelettes, waffles...etc...except that I had serious suspicion that the waffles were pre-made....My daughter ordered it and she didn't it so I tried a few bites, it was the worst waffles that I have ever had...(typically you can't do too wrong with waffle)...so I think it must be pre-made...it came with few berries....for the price, it wasn't worth it. Will most likely not going back.

Good Brunch

By drjandthemissus |

My wife and I had brunch at Toulouse on a Sunday in early July, ordering two brunch entrees, one coffee, and one poinsettia (champagne cocktail). The total was $32.66, not including tip. The quality of the food was good - both my wife's New Orleans-style beignets and my orange french toast. Service was OK as well - attentive, but not as if they were trying to turn our table. On the downside, we appreciated the relaxed vibe when we arrived at 10:30am, but found things a little loud by the time we left an hour or so later. We'd definitely recommend Toulouse - and have heard good things about the lunch and dinner menu as well. Be mindful of the time you arrive, though, it will determine whether you get a laid-back or loud-and-crowded environment.

Birthday Dinner

By kathydavidson |

I took my wife to dinner at Toulouse for her birthday. The ambiance was perfect, romantic with soft music. We were greeted at the door, experienced wonderful service and thanked as we were leaving. Everyone made it a great experience. Both dinners were delicious. My wife had the grilled salmon. It was the best either one of us has ever tasted. I had the New York strip. It was cooked perfectly. Before our dinners we had the lobster bisque and it was superb. For dessert we shared the thin apple tart with ice cream. It was excellent. We had wonderful service with just the right amount of attention. The food was delicious and the restaurant perfect.

Great food

I went with my date- it was a lot of fun for a Sunday lunch! Great food and great service- we sat on the patio- a really lovely time. Try the frog legs! :)

Love this little Gem

Toulouse is a long standing local favorite by our pal Alberto. the menu is diverse and the wine list is awesome. the weekend brunch's are really nice.

Casual dinner

By CruisingDeacon |

Presently surprised that in the midst of Dallas and all its grand buildings and condos is this quaint French restaurant. We began with drinks and moved through four courses before finishing with elegant desserts. Each course was prepared beyond any French restaurant I have been to in the states. Will certainly return

Delicious French food options.

By Jimmy T |

Delicious French food options. Fabulous desserts! Excellent customer service. Loved the indoor/outdoor seating.

Flat Note…

By Travel@1964 |

The experience was just average for a mid day lunch… service very slow and food with muddied flavor - lacking seasoning… so, it just didn't stand out or reflection of French Cuisine centric to the region of Toulousse…

Great place for brunch

By TravelGirlDallas_TX |

Sunday brunch at Toulouse is a memorable experience. Sit on the patio, enjoy some amazing food and watch the traffic on the Katy Trail. It's a wonderful place for dinner also.

Fantastic dinner

By 860SusanB860 |

We just dined here again recently with friends and had an amazing meal! Our friends were quite impressed. Cocktails and wine are top notch here. My appetizer (Oysters Toulouse) was phenomenal. The sole was sheer perfection. The chocolate souffle was the perfect way to complete a wonderful meal. On this particular night, service was attentive and friendly. Our food was all delicious, the atmosphere was nice, and our meal was most enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

Typical good French restaurant

By John N |

Moules, duck, foie gras etc I chose and I would recommend the duck which came as a magret and leg confit. It had lentils and a tasty sauce. Always ask for your duck to be undercooked which I did thankfully. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The salads are lightly seasoned and the desserts are great. The French fries are better than in France 🇫🇷 BTW Always worth asking what the special of the day is too . Serge has been proudly in charge of this establishment for years and it is still the best French restaurant in Dallas IMHO A lot of French restaurants in France should take note ! Dallas gets French food without an attitude :-))

Delicious French Cuisine

By cspencerlv |

Fantastic! Candlelight dinner with my Daughter and her friend. Everything was delicious. Definitely will go back. Great ambiance, excellent service.

Best lunch ever

By Tricia H |

I have been frequenting Toulousse for many years but moved out of the neighborhood about two years ago and had not been in awhile. However, Thursday a friend and I went there for lunch on my birthday to celebrate us both and I felt so good about our experience I wanted to share it with others. We had the Green Room Mussels and Trout almondine. Our lunch was truly divine. My friend and I split the mussels which were the perfect combination of spicy and savory and the trout which was toasted to perfection beside a beautiful bed of risotto all perfectly portioned. Then we shared the beignets which were pastry bites covered in a decadent icing and then topped with chocolate mousse. It was a wonderful dining experience that I highly recommend.

Perfect for a lazy afternoon

By nuheart |

Wonderful French cafe atmosphere and even better food. Service is just right. One of our favorite places in Dallas.

Between a 3 and a 4

By Ghost |

I will give Toulouse the benefit of the doubt. Very good--the service, which which was prompt, attentive and proper. Also, the decor is very welcoming, and, while the restaurant was on the noisy side, it was not unreasonably so. While the rest of our party seemed to enjoy their meals, I was not. I had ordered the goat cheese salad with chicken, and had not expected it to be served as a mound of lettuce flanked by two small pieces of goat cheese and a reasonable serving of luke-warm chicken. If I return, I will order something else.

Everything pleasant

By davidsonh2016 |

I am surprised more folks haven't reviewed this lovely little jewel amidst the hustle and bustle of Knox-Henderson and the Katy Trail. It's is a place to relax. Quiet, exquisite service, delicious food. We visited with friends for at least an hour before even looking at the menu. They were gracious. The lobster salad was the right size. Not too much. Not too little just right as Goldilocks says. I have eaten next door. Owned by same folks. I prefer the fare at Toulouse but I am a long time Francophile. Merci beaucoup!

Tasty but lukewarm.

By judi0wens |

Went there on a Saturday at 1:00. We had a group of 8. So it was a busy time, and our group was larger than average. Food was tasty, and the atmosphere was fun. But it took a long time for our order to arrive and when it came my eggs were barely warm and dried out. Maybe they were ready before the rest of the orders. But did not live up to the reviews that day.

Fun atmosphere and delicious entrees

By Marilyn P |

We had dinner at the Toulouse Cafe for birthday celebrations! The service was superb; the waiter was attentive and fun! The entrees were excellent. I recommend the scallops and the filet. Please try the desserts- a wonderful way to complete the evening. I highly recommend this French cafe for a special evening!

Tres bon!

By JERRY M |

Found this darling cafe on Knox in Dallas and so pleased. The food is amazing, service was great and the atmosphere was fun! It was rainy and cold so sat inside - started with two kinds of mussels -green room and mariniere- both fabulous, steak tartare - also fabulous, and fried calamari - delish. Moved on to onion soup and Toulouse salad, then shrimp louie, salade nicoise abd Toulouse burger - dessert was a chocolate souffle and raspberry souffle - each dish better than the last. Great wine list!

Feels like you're not in Dallas

By tbooz |

Going out to eat in Dallas is great! There are so many great places to check out with fun food, different atmospheres and stellar service. This is no exception! Toulouse is a quiet place to have a phenomenal meal and be transported to your own slice of heaven abroad. From the escargot to the frog legs and every entree on the menu are served to perfection. The portions are just right and dishes well seasoned. The weight staff always has great wine recommendations and the service impeccable. I've been here for a birthday, family dinner and date night and always a treat! It's definitely one of my two go-to restaurants in Dallas!

Truly Amazing

By Stan M |

We have been here several times, always on weekends. I have reviewed a lot of great restaurants on this site, but this one truly stands out. They offer a wide range of food options that make choosing a challenge. The wine list is equally robust. This place really does recreate the experience of being in a Paris bistro. This place has earned my highest marks.

Bistro Bites at its Finest

By SGBD |

This eatery is a local foodie meeting place, and for good reason. It is lively, intimate and cozy…and then, there’s the food! We had steak and frites, with eggs. The egg white frittata with pesto and arugula is heavenly. We topped off our meal with cappuccinos and beignets…. With espresso sauce. The menu has something for everyone. Divine! Be sure to get reservations, this is a bistro you won’t want to miss!

Toulouse never disappoints!

Old Favorite - New Day

By ptbyb |

I've been here a number of time over the years and it was excellent every time. I took a couple today for lunch as it's been a while. What a great meal! The room is very french bistro/cafe with a nice patio and indoor seating. The menu, service, wine, et. al. are tops. The kitchen is very accommodating and will accept menu changes on request. I had a duck confit and raved. Can't say enough good things.

What a great place!

By rcote75 |

Miguel at the bar was so kind and wonderful. He helped take care us with drinks and a wonderful brunch. I enjoyed the onion soup and the short ribs bourguignon; both were rich and delicious. My dining companions enjoyed their meals as well. We were too content for dessert.

Best French Fries Dallas

By BChupka |

We stopped by on a Friday night and had a delightful meal. Our son is a hamburger expert and it ranked third (very high praise) behind Liberty Burger and Hillstone, but the French Fries were the best in all of Dallas. We have had French Fries all over the world with Belgium Fries arguably best ever. The Fries here rate on that level and we finished them all despite being full on other dishes. Lobster bisque very silky and luxurious. Crab St Louis and their specialty salad lovely with options to add chicken or shrimp. Would recommend and please order Fries on the side to enjoy one of life’s Guilty pleasures.

A Neighborhood Gem

By RonnyC2723 |

There are many French restaurants in Dallas, but none are better than Toulouse. It is a neighborhood gem located in a quiet corner of the Knox Henderson area. The menu is totally French but easy to understand and servers love to explain anything. In fact, servers are fast, helpful, and personable without being intrusive. Servings are extensive and can be shared. Interior French doors are open and allows a cool breeze. Vintage French music adds to the wonderful decore making it intimate and romantic. Tables are spaced for social distancing. I don't recommend the patio because it's packed, loud and no one masks. It's popular so make reservations.

Excellent French Cafe

By TexasShark73 |

Ate here to remember our visit to Paris in September of 2018. This was very much like the Parisian cafes we frequented in Paris. The food was excellent. I had the Steak au Poivre. My wife had the halibut. The food, the salads the desserts were all excellent. The atmosphere on a Saturday evening was casual but not too loud. Service was excellent all the way around. Excellent experience.

Wonderful French tasting experience

By mshbnyehud |

Split 3 courses with my dining partner. Chopped salad was delicious, highlighted by crispy fresh bacon pieces and a wonderful dressing, lightly applied. Second was an awesome warm brie with thin roasted pear slices, garlic puree and fresh baked grape tomatoes. The slice of grilled baguette accompanying the brie was insufficient for the size of dish, but the server graciously offered a sliced small baguette to finish off a wonderful dish. Finally, we split mussels in light garlic sauce which was simply amazing! We went for the full entree portion, sizeable and with a substantial amount of fries (frites) which needed to be ordered extra crispy, in our opinion. But it's the garlic sauce which is heavenly, and entirely dip-able. We simply ran out of stomach room! Service throughout was fabulous! It was a cold evening and we chose to be on the heated porch near the door. It was fine temperature wise except for a few moments when the door was opened. We also were lucky to get a free parking spot on the street despite a bunch of construction going on. Valet parking during construction is located on Travis St. We'll be back again soon!

Brunch bliss

Stellar service and delightful dining await the weekend brunch go-er at Toulouse. Nothing like feeling you're in a beautiful French bistro on a Saturday morning. Add a cappuccino and some orange French toast to the mix, and you're in heaven.

Excellent Crab cakes, disappointing beignets

By paperbackOkc |

We went here for dinner but really came for the beignets which had good reviews. The crabcakes were some of the best we have ever had. If you've ever had New Orleans beignets, you'll be very disappointed in these. They are more like fried donut holes with tons of powder sugar. Not beignets at all. However, their chocolate mousse was divine. Service is beyond outstanding. The place looks junky on the outside, but don't let that scare you off. The inside is lovely, very crowded and noisy. Prices are moderate to expensive.

Food & atmosphere. Oui!

By PickyLadyGetsAround |

I've always had superb service at this charming French bistro. Tonight we wanted to try some different things & didn't want a full order of the highly touted mac & cheese. We asked if we could have an appetizer portion. Our waiter said he'd make it happen. It was quite delish, but lacked the touch of blue cheese from a few years ago. We made sincere plans about what entree we'd share. But by the time we finished the mac & cheese & truffle oiled petite gougėres, we were full. We wanted mussels, we wanted soup, we wanted charcuterie. . . But what's a girl to do? So we got the beignets with cappuccino sauce to go. Even the next morning in our hotel room, they were great! I've been to bistros in Paris. Maybe that's why I love Toulouse so. Kudos for authenticity & terrific wine list & proper cappuccino. You really can't go wrong.

Tres Bon

By jahoomus |

My Pamela lived in Paris, on the Left Bank at the time when Ernest Hemingway and F.Scott Fitzgerald wined, dined and wrote. A top model of the day, to Pamela today Toulouse on Knox Street is every bit as Paris as the Left Bank she remembers right down to the Vanilla Soufflé...the finest French Bistro in Dallas. Ooo LaLa ... memories of Pamela’s years in Paris. Merci, Alberto. I put it up with the best I’ve had... the ambiance, food and service is impeccable.

Messed up a little bit, but more than made up for it.

By gregsf11 |

Had a pleasant lunch in the outdoor patio. It was crowded, and my appetizer order apparently fell through the cracks. They brought out the duck confit, but still hadn't brought out the trout dip. I was getting a little annoyed at that point, but they promptly brought it out when reminded, and the manager said right away without even being prompted, that he'd take it off the bill. Which he did, along with my iced tea. Overall, I'd say that more than makes up for it being late. The dip was really good, btw, and portions were large. So was the duck confit. My only quibble is that they smothered it in sauce. The best thing about a properly prepared duck confit, is the crispy skin. Which they apparently managed, but then smothering it in sauce kind of negates that. The sauce was not bad, but if I'd known, I'd have asked for it on the side.

Very good French Bistro

By ChuckDallas |

Toulouse is so nice ... the atmosphere is good and the food is excellent. The service is personable and professional. I always order the steak and frites - it is so good. Others will swear by the mussels. I've never heard of a bad experience. For an appetizer the cheese plate is perfect to share. I've never ordered dessert but they look very delicious. There is a patio that is open in good weather but it faces Knox Street so it's loud and busy. I prefer the interior.

I want to really like this restaurant...

By tonylS6730AO |

I've been here a few times and can't quite put my finger on this restaurant. It's bistro style, so it's supposed to be informal. I get that. But i don't think informal means lack of attention to detail. Honestly the vibe i get is more of an informal Mexican food restaurant. Some food hot, some food not hot. no explanation of menu, options, etc., more like "do you want the number 1 or the number 2"? very spotty service on drinks, in fact we pretty much were never asked if we wanted refills. When i asked the bartender what whiskies he had he pulled down a bottle (the Mac 18, which i'm sure is the most expensive they have) and said condescendingly "since you don't know anything about whiskey, this is the best". Um not true but ok... sure.. So i guess that's it. The food was mediocre the service was one notch below mediocre, the ambiance was one notch below mediocre. i really want a local french bistro that has a little character, a little flair, or just give a damn about the basic details of running a restaurant. Honestly what you get is a Pancho's Mexican Buffet with French fare...:)

Very cozy

Food was excellent. Service was great. Very cozy place. We had the poulet roti, chicken, quiche which was wonderful. Highly recommend and will be back

Beware of rude wait staff who aren't familiar with their restaurant hours...

By Monica |

Recently came here on a SATURDAY night around 10:45, walked into the bar to grab some cocktails and was confronted by a rude employee (I wouldn't have known given how disheveled he was) who said the restaurant was closed (midnight is the closing time on Saturdays, ahem). We stated we wanted to grab a drink at the bar and he grunted and said something intelligible. Such a shame, my husband and I use to love coming here but definitely won't be giving this place our business in the future. Laziness is a horrible thing in the restaurant business - pay attention to your customers.

"So Good" and "Delicious" kept coming out of my mouth. We will return.

Hubby and I came here the first sit-down meal in a year. We chose here because he wanted French food, and outdoor seating eased our fear of Covid. I recommend reservations. It was hard deciding what to eat, so much sounded incredible. The staff was patient, answered questions, and recommended a sequence for the food. We spent $170 on salad, Hors D'oeuvre, entrees, and dessert. You can spend less. The worst: Oysters Toulouse. We felt the creamed spinach & fried oysters didn't add to each other; we separated the 2. The best: Mussels Marinière. Have you seen a show where the villian tells the hero, "That's the difference between you and me"? That's how I felt; blew my cooking away. We ate two baguettes just dipping in the sauce. Beet and Goat Cheese Salad: No bite was the same. There were so many ways to construct a bite on your fork; it was always different and flavorful. Crispy Duck: There was so much good in this dish. The skin on the duck was tasty. The thigh meat had a texture similar to roast beef. The breast was tender. There was no taste of gaminess or oiliness associated with duck. I left the cherries alone, too sweet. I wished for more mushrooms with rosemary, potatoes, and vegetable flan. Broccolini was crunchy and added texture. Dark Chocolate Mousse: The thin layer of a raspberry jam or compote, I felt, was unneeded. The fresh berries, chocolate shavings, and cream were enough. It was rich without being overly sweet and a good end to the meal. Bonus: People watching

Our favorite French bistro in Dallas

We have become regulars here due to the location, stuff and excellent food. Lunch or dinner the place is excellent and we have always eaten well here. The tartare is awesome as is their steak. Also try the salmon and mango starter dish, it's phenomenal.

Mother’s Day Brunch

By wwfrench |

This place is a go to for lunch, dinner or brunch! Always crowded, great patio and fantastic food!! Mother’s Day brunch was wonderful!! Try the beignets for the table! I had the croque madame... wonderful!!

Love, love, love this place

By Julia H |

The atmosphere is great! Have had girlfriend lunches here quite often. Took my mother for a belated Mothers Day celebration. The soups & salads are awesome but you have to order the petite Gougere's for an appetizer. Melt in your mouth

Totally delightful

Best eggs benedict I have ever had. Service was excellent; atmosphere warm and welcoming. Very popular spot.

Exceptional

Great vibe at this very French inspired cafe! Sunday brunch is the best. Lots of champagne cocktails to choose from, the French 75 is delish! My hubby had a sazarac, and said it was the best outside of NOLA! The escargot is so full of flavor it’s a must for appetizers. For brunch the beef hash was very flavorful and the portion large. I had the 3 cheese Mac & cheese with truffles, super yummy! Voted one of the best brunch spots in Dallas for a reason, this is now our new favorite!

Paris in Dallas

By Dee Ann C |

If you can not be in Paris, France...try this Dallas, Texas bistro....so, so good. Start with a French 75 cocktail...continue with some mussels and frites...French onion soup...quiche with salad...finish with tarte tatin. We like to go with others so we can share and taste more dishes...makes sense! The place was busy but only a short wait on the weekend...such a cute French atmosphere...lots of red, black, and white colors...outdoor and indoor seating.

Fantastic, authentic

Delicious dinner at Toulouse. The fish is the highest quality I have had at a non coastal town - ever. The soufflés are sublime and the service is perfection. It's pricey but worth it.

Delightful French Bisto

By Tastefullycoco - The Simple Treasures |

This is a wonderful little French Bistro. The atmosphere is perfect and you feel like you are in Paris! The food is very good with a very extensive menu that should please everyone. We were there for lunch/brunch and were happy that we had the option to order from both the brunch menu and lunch menu. Our server was very helpful and accomodating. We had the Foie Gras for an appetizer and it was delightfully rich and decadent! I had the Trout Almondine with Vegetables. The vegetables were perfect! Loved the Chocolate Cake as well! Overall a wonderful experience and the restaurant is right along the Katy Trail, a popular walking/biking path in Dallas, so it would be fun to stop in while taking a walk and enjoy a glass of wine and a cheese tray!

Was between a 3 and a 4

We went here to celebrate my husbands birthday. We were not that impressed. We have visited nicer French restaurants in the area. It’s a cute place. The service wasn’t bad but it was not that great for a French restaurant that you pay 200 dollars for your food for. Neither was the food presentation. It was good for a change and to Try it for once but we are not planning on going back or recommending it to anyone.

Very popular area to visit for great shopping and Resturant choices. The food and atmosphere is excellent! The owner even took time to introduce himself and to others as well. I would highly recommend this and others that are part of the Resturant group. Clean, new and fun!

Nice Little Dallas Restaurant

By David761946 |

Had a birthday outing for my daughter for her thirtieth birthday at her request. Nice relaxed atmosphere and great food. Our party of five enjoyed the angus beef burger and the macaroni with bacon selection. Both were very tasty, as were the fries, which they called something else since it was a French restaurant. Look forward to going there again and trying out other items on the menu.

Perfect Bistro in fun location.

Intimate lunch or dinner spot. Sit on the patio and watch the joggers on Katy Trail at the intersection of chic Highland Park and pedestrian-filled Knox St. Come in yoga pants with your pooch after a walk on the Katy Trail or straight from the office. Excellent crispy-skinned chicken, amazing fries (frites!), and great Cobb Salads and service.

Excellent french cuisine and place

Sunday Brunch

By 5StarPro |

If you're looking for an casual chic Sunday Brunch with lively atmosphere and fabulous French cuisine, step into Toulouse on Knox/Henderson. Perched right next to Highland Park and the Katy Trail be sure to get a table by the window on the bistro's charming enclosed patio. There you'll be able to observe great people watching and lots of locals strolling with their dogs. Great locale, authentic ambiance, and the menu is very very extensive for Brunch. Sip on a mimosa or champagne with chambord and try the mussels and eggs florentine , the best I've had recently in Dallas. You'll feel absolutely transported! It's very popular and European style seating so it's always very crowded . Reservations recommended and convenient valet parking directly across the street. Will not disappoint ! $$$🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Toulouse Cafe and Bar - Well worth going!

By DDW56 |

Toulouse Cafe is a great place to eat. The atmosphere is pleasant, the food divine, with great service. I was with my cousins and all ordered different entrees so we could have a little of each others food. The servers are kind, do not rush you, and have smiles on their faces. Enjoyed by all.

One of my favorite supper places in Dallas

By PandoradeBalthazar |

Toulouse is a warm, friendly, lovely restaurant with great food, great drinks, wonderful service and awesome daily specials. I highly recommend it. The foie gras is always perfection. The daily menu is always a pleasant surprise, as it was this trip. The grapefruit gimlet is simply the best ever! Try it.

Excellent French Food

Over the past 3 years I have been often and frequently order the sole amadine and it is always superbly prepared. They also do a mean steak and frites.

Always Excellent

By Greg P |

Decided to stop in yesterday for dinner and wasn't disappointed. Everything was excellent. We were greeted by Matt, who always wears a smile and is attentive to all who dine here. Matt got us seated in our favorite corner inside and then turned us over to our waiter Memo who acted and treated us as if we were the only diners in the place-which we weren't by any stretch of the imagination. We dined on our favorite starter course-moules and frits paired with a wonderful Bordeaux from St. Emilion. We moved on to the main course and enjoyed the charcuterie plate. Everything was excellent and the entire wait staff were all as pleasant as anyone would ever want. We were treated to two wonderful desserts. I really enjoyed the beignets. Having lived in Belguim, this is as close as we have gotten to that same ambiance and good dining as we were used to in Belgium. Excellent value for the wonderful food and service. We will definitely go back again, and again and.........

Delightful French fare

By Eat Laugh Drive |

Visited for lunch. Started with a bisque which was rich and flavorful. But not overpowering. For lunch their poulet roti was recomended. At first i thought roast chicken, really? No one ever gets that right... My host insisted so he can have some of my fries too. Well, perfected roasted chicken, crispy skin, and juicy meat. I was forewarned that i will need to salt it, and with a little salt it was perfect and so were the pomme frites. Another great Dallas find.

Supper after Dallas Market!

By PandoradeBalthazar |

7 hungry friends gathered around this round banquette at the rear of the busy Toulouse, for supper. Cocktails included champagne, a marvelous grapefruit gimlet, vodka cocktails, wine tastings & kraft beer. The charcuterie plate rolled out with foie gras deserving an extraordinary start. The plate included blood sausage, chicken mousse, a pork pate, sausages, wonderfully carmelized onions & lush breads & butter. Worth it! Three plates of escargot followed to share—good but not the best we have had. Supper orders were the chicken (loved) the bouillabaisse with lobster added, a year yummy pasta dish (bravo) , fish (really good) and a large cheese & fruit plate. Red wine & white wine were shared, then dessert. The custard was amazing!

Festive Christmas Eve dinner

By mingle2 |

We have never gone out on Christmas Eve for dinner, but we had wanted to try Toulouse and didn't want to cook. We had a reservation (very important) and the whole place was lively, happy, festive and hopping! The food was outstanding (but pricey) and the service was great. We will definitely be back. The atmosphere is great for families as well as romantic evenings.
