We had a really good experience at Tratto except for one thing (which I'll get on to). First, the positive bits ... we thought the food was delicious. My husband had the home-made gnocchi which was meltingly soft and had just the right amount of gorgonzola in the sauce - tasty but not-overpowering. I had the spaghetti with beef & pork meatballs which were delicately flavoured with fennel seed (I think) and a flavourful tomato sauce. We also shared a salad of rocket, orange & pistachio that came in a very tasty crisp parmesan bowl (10 out of 10 for presentation, flavour & freshness). For dessert we shared the Italian doughnuts which are served with two dipping sauces - caramel and chocolate - it's a generous sized portion of 6 doughnuts but we didn't think they were particularly special and I wouldn't have them again. I would have my main course and the salad again. We loved the ambience, style of the room and the space between the tables (we're used to being crowded together in London restaurants). Our waitress was attentive and charming however she cleared my husband's plate away and asked if we'd like to see the dessert menu before I had finished. This felt really odd and affected our enjoyment as I felt rushed. It wasn't as if the restaurant was really busy and they needed the table back. We mentioned this to our waitress at the end of the meal - not as a complaint, more as feedback. She told us it was a recent management initiative. Tratto management this is not good! In our opinion, part of the skill set of a good waiter is to know when to time clearing plates - definitely not when one of the party is still eating and not immediately after finishing the last mouthful either (which happened with our dessert). This somewhat spoilt an otherwise very enjoyable meal.

Let me draw the picture - I live in this city, have a choice of plenty of restaurants and cook as well if not better than most, so going out seems more a pain in the ass. Downtown SF is on hard times as well. Nevertheless, came down here for dinner on Friday night and was favorably surprised. Dinner started out with a shared farro salad with mint, feta and arugula - very refreshing and clean tasting. For dinner we had two entrees: rosemary roast chicken and a spinach fettuccini with a three meat sauce. Chicken was outstanding, apparently had been brined for a couple of days. Roast chicken can often be dry-ish, especially the white meat, but not so here. Pasta dish was also excellent, had a slight creamy quality although not sure it was from cream added. Waiter was great, knew his stuff and very helpful. I would come back.

Incredible food. Some of the best "fill in the blank" that I have had. Pizza with truffle oil? Wow. Salmon with crispy skin? Incredible. The pasta was fresh and just awesome. Great for groups and good service

A chic Italian joint with solid drinks, and grand food options. Tratto has a certain upscale vibe to it, without the pretentiousness, or price tag. The service is on point, friendly, and great to be around. The food is flavorful, and there's definitely something for even the pickiest of eaters. With several delicious hand crafted cocktails, and beers on tap you'll definitely be able to get your drink on.

Stayed close to this restaurant so popped in for Saturday weekend brunch, food was typical breakfast fare, avocado toast, eggs, fluffy pancakes - bottomless mimosas were topped up more than we needed, staff were really friendly, attentive and fulfilled all allergy / dietary requests. Nice interior to the restaurant too, it was such a lovely relaxing time with great friends that we came back the next day and did it all again!

We had dinner here on a week day without making reservations, there was still plenty of space, it's a big restaurant. The interior is very cool, but a bit noisy. We had two delicious pasta dishes and the waiter was very friendly! So why not 5 stars? The hostess welcoming us was giving us an attitude, without any reason. We've been in San Francisco for 2 days and she was the most unfriendly person we talked to...

Excellent food. Pizza crust just like in Italy. Get the pizza with roasted grapes. Delicious. House red is fine.

I stopped here one night for dinner before turning in for the night. I had the gnocchi ragu and it was fantastic. Service was good, food came fast and was delicious. I wouldn't say it was noteworthy, but I'd go back again.

It's a great Italian restaurant. Tried several items and they were all great (except the Bruschetta, to my surprise). I would highly recommend it though

Eating Italian in the USA is hard. The standard seems to be “red” aka gloopy tomato sauce over everything. My question to the hotel concierge was which nearby restaurant was better. They were right to send me to Tratto. More fusion than Italian but delicious nonetheless. Definitely worth a try if you’re staying round union square.

Very fun modern atmosphere, fast service, food is excellent. Definitely try there pizza and desserts. Highly recommend having a reservation.

San Francisco is far away from Italy, and this restaurant is far away to be an good Italian restaurant

I had breakfast three consecutive days at Tratto. Food and service were excellent. The dining room is just the right size and tables are adequately spaced. Tall ceiling gives the impression the room is much larger. Great place for business breakfast meetings. Overall, reasonably priced for what it is.

Ordered a takeaway pizza on our first night after getting in to our hotel late. Pizza was delicious.

3.5* Tratto Part of the Marker Hotel Went there for Happy Hour; the expressionless waiter told us that the HH seating was at the bar or at the high tables. We sat down at the latter. Waited for ten minutes. No service. Still mellow. We go over and sit at the bar. The tatted bartender was also unresponsive. We felt like we had traveled into the Twilight Zone. However, another barista from the other side came over to assist. His name was Luis and he was the best. Great service, friendly, solicitous The chopped salad was great. The steak skewers were just okay The “fried chicken” sliders were deadly; recommend House red wine very good The chocolate cake dessert recommended by Luis was the bomb; highly recommend Place gets crowded fast

After all the years and places this is my first one star review. The service was poor and the food was fair at best. However it was the billing practice that was questionable. The subtotal on the bill was $282.00 for 5 people The SF mandate (not mandatory) $14.00 was first, then the Service C for 6 people $56.00. That's 20%. We were five people. Then one more Service C was another $56.00 or 20% for poor service. Then $35.00 in tax which is required. Total became $444.00 . None of which was mentioned before hand. The taxes we knew. Then when the bill was to be shared with two credit cards the separate receipts listed an amount and the little table of suggested gratuities. It did not mention the previous 42 % in additional charges. So without reviewing the itemized receipt you would never know you had paid a Service C of 20% and then another Service C charge of 20%. Shaky is my polite word for their approach. Never again !

Tratto is convenient walk to several hotels in the Union Square area for good, but limited, Italian dishes. My individual size, sweet sausage pizza was delicious! If you're in the area & looking for Italian, primarily pasta, Tratto is a good choice.

I walked over here because it was not far from my hotel. I don’t have a very good track record with finding good Italian food in San Francisco. But I have finally found it! When I first walked in, I was very concerned about the service. There was no one to greet me. Several staff members walked by and looked at me, but it was a couple of minutes before someone came and seated me. Note: it was early and they were not busy at all. I got a nice little table looking out the window. I knew I wanted pasta, but I wasn’t sure which one. I asked the waiter couple of questions and he was very helpful. I finally settled on the spinach pasta with Bolognese. I’m very picky about my pasta, but this was incredible. It was a decent portion, and I ate it all. It was far too much for me to eat, but it was so good that I couldn’t stop. As a result of my overindulgence in the main course, I did not have dessert. I guess I will have to go back!

Went to Tratto recommended by Yelp. It surely has people that stay at the hotel beside it adding presence, otherwise is very quiet. The food has a gourmet level, which makes it special although you need to make sure the server gives more detail about each plate. It is somewhat quiet so if you like that go for it

I love this restaurant. We were in SF looking for a eatery and came across this one. The staff was very friendly, food delicious and drinks superb. The menu varied. My date was looking for traditional Italian fare, but enjoyed his dinner all the same. I had the pasta which was flavorful. Please check it out next time you're in SF. You won't regret it!

Absolutely delicious food, amazingly friendly and helpful staff and at excellent prices. Had the roasted whole fish, salad and fried calamari and every bite was delicious. If you are looking for "Fluff" go somewhere else, but if you are looking for absolutely delicious food, fun and friendly staff and great value this is a must.

We were really happy with our post-theater meal at Tratto! Zucchini blossom appetizers were excellent. Salads, entrees and desserts were well prepared and reasonably priced.

Late dinner after the marrakesh magic show ( check this out for an up close magic show) Fantastic, great , best , should I keep going Best meal in San Fran and we have had a couple of great meals Our 12 year old daughter had the fried chicken YUM we shared ravioli with butter nut squash and burnt butter WOW , and lemon fettuccine with seafood WOW YUM WOW Apology for the plate photo but messy , I would have licked it clean if I was aloud too To wrap my advise up just go !

Okay place. Best part is location. Was staying at “The Marker” so this was convenient. Offers breakfast but opens at 7am. Too late for me. I guess with so many restaurants nearby, this was nothing special. Eating here out of convenience.

Despite some snafu's, we just had the best dining experience at Tratto last night. Waiting at the bar for our group to arrive, I had the passion fruit spritzer - a refreshing combination of passion fruit/orange syrup, Pinot Grigio and vermouth. We ordered the warm olives but they didn't show up and the bartender said that there was a problem with the computer ordering system. The olives arrived finally and were so delicious, steeped in their warm, briny oil -definitely worth the wait! Once seated at our table, we informed our waiter that we were scheduled for a show at the Curran. We had left ourselves plenty of time, but, after ordering, we waited and waited - no food. We told the waiter we were getting nervous .... lo and behold after a little more waiting, the manager himself brought our food out, explained the problem with the computer system, apologized profusely and comped our entire meal! Now that is the way to take care of a problem and keep your customers smiling! The food was amazing! I had the baked orecchiette which was so creamy and delicious, I didn't want to share. Luckily, my husband was so happy with his spinach tagliatelle that he didn't want to, either. My son had the mushroom pizza which he rated among the best he's ever had. Didn't get a share of that one, either. His fiancee had the homemade Pappardelle - simple, fresh ingredients - that she also rated highly. We had to have the Italian donuts with bourbon-caramel sauce for dessert. We all shared an order, which generously, had enough for us to have 2 donuts each. They were so delicious! Crunchy and sugary outside with soft, warm insides, dipping in the bourbon-caramel sauce ... heavenly. With the great attention from the wait staff and manager, we made our show in time and had a wonderful dining experience that left us with happy memories. That is how a snafu should be handled!

We ordered their specials which are not in the menu and both Risotto and Seafood Linguine were flavorful and cooked to perfection. We are well taken care of by our server, Andrea, who made everything perfect for us. This is definitely a great place for couples or families to enjoy a wonderful meal and a memorable get together.

A few steps away from the Curran, this is a great place for a pre -show dinner. The pizzas are imaginative...I loved the roasted grapes and prosciutto and a salad fits the bill. This is a fine place!

Simple, well donde food inside The Marker SFO, centrally located. Lot´s of locals coming in to dine is good signal. Tried the pizzas, very good, also some soup. Portions are big as everywhere in the US (at least DOUBLE the size in any european restaurant). Also went to a "happy hour" event after a conference in hotel business área, lots of peple accomodated with no apparent impact on service which was very good & fast.

Thanks a lot for this absolutely incredible breakfast! We did enjoy every single bite :) The prices are okay compared to the quality of the food and the very friendly people and atmosphere. We'll come again!

Tratto is one of the best spots in San Francisco. We had an amazing dining experience. from the welcoming, the service, and the food, it couldn't have been a more perfect evening. The staff is very knowledgeable, the music and lighting create a great vibe, and the cocktails are very creative. Great location near Union Square, Powell & Market near the cable car turnaround, and a few steps away from other major attractions. Don't need to go to North Beach for great Italian food, Tratto is where you want to be.

This place was attached to our hotel and came recommended for Italian food. We decided to go for their pizza and it was amazing. Melt in the mouth. Couldn't fault any aspect of this restaurant. Everything was great, location, service, food, everything

Very average food, presentation poor, service mediocre. The minestrone soup should be avoided. All in all, an expensive disappointment!

I went here for a networking dinner. I ordered the stratiatelli bolognese and a local kolsh beer. The food was delicious and hearty though not the sizeable portions I am used to getting at an Italian restaurant with the exception of the pizza a colleague ordered. They do have a nice selection of local beers. I was tempted to get desert based on the descriptions but ultimately refrained. I note that they only had vanilla and chocolate Gelato which is a little weird for an authentic Italian place.

This Italian restaurant was near our hotel and was also recommended by the concierge. We went there for dinner. It was crowded and we had to wait for about half an hour to get a table as we didn't have any reservation. I believe it is linked to a hotel which explains the big crowd. We ordered the Potato Gnocchi, Cannelloni and the Tomato pizza. Food was tasty and fresh. The ambiance of the restaurant was chic/elegant and lights are dimmed. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Service was acceptable in term of speed. Although portions are not that big but the prices are reasonable.

We had the New Years Eve dinner with set menu. However with kids they accomodated also variations and changes. The quality was good as also the service. However expecting a little bit a special atmosphere for new year's eve that wasn't there.

The pasta I had (pappardelle) was delicious and perfectly al dente. The kale caeser was waaaay too salty, and I couldn’t finish it.

I had the minestrone soup and spinach tagliatelle. Unfortunately the tiramisu was sold out. Tested well and service was great

Very good restaurant in a central position. The ambient is cozy and the service is quick and kind. The food is very good. I really liked the tagliatelle with ragù, in particular. The pizza is nothing special, but all the rest was great. Price is fair.

We found this amazing Italian restaurant in the area we were staying. So glad we dined here! The food is amazing and the service was great. The pasta is so delicious and we shared a salad. A truly great experience!

First night in San Francisco and we decided to have a walk around the local area to our Hostel for something to eat for dinner. We stumbled across Tratto and were greeted by a super friendly and smily Maître D who seated us straight away. I ordered a Torino Tonic which is a great Gin cocktail with purple butterfly pea ice. For food, I ordered the spinach tagliatelle which was simple yet divine and my friends ordered pizza which they said were great as well. All the staff were very friendly and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely recommend

We made a dinner reservation for December 31st, scheduled for 8:30 PM. When we arrived, there were no available seats, and the staff told us we would have to wait—even though there were clearly empty tables. After questioning again how long it would take for us to be seated, we were finally shown to a table around 8:50 PM. We initially ordered an appetizer and wine, but at no point were we informed that the kitchen would close at 9:00 PM. This information should have been clearly communicated from the beginning, especially considering that we were seated about 20 minutes after our original reservation time. At 9:30 PM, when we asked the waiter to place our main course order, we were told that the kitchen had already closed—despite it being New Year’s Eve. In practice, this meant we would have had only about 10 minutes to order our main dishes after being seated. The staff was unable to resolve the situation, and the manager stated that there was nothing he could do, insisting that the fault was ours and that he was certain his employee had warned us, which did not happen. No effort was made to accommodate us or find a reasonable solution. We ended up paying for the appetizers and wine and leaving the restaurant. It is disappointing that a restaurant of this level handles a New Year’s Eve service so poorly. If the kitchen truly closes at 9:00 PM, then reservations should not be accepted for 8:30 PM—especially when guests are seated late through no fault of their own.

Sat at the bar during their happy hour. Good wine at $3.50/glass and dishes at $6-$8 for 2. Service was great at the bar even though it got very busy around 7. Donuts for dessert were very tasty too. Would come back to enjoy the dinner menu.

Might up this to five stars after I try more of their dishes. Went with friends for drinks, and ended up ordering pizza as well. The drinks and the pizza were delicious, and the service at the bar was excellent. There was definitely a theater rush - well handled by the staff. It does get a bit noisy, and it’s not the most comfortable seating, but I would definitely come back.

Went for brunch, the food was amazing. Lovely restaurant and staff. Would highly recommend. I had the breakfast sandwich so good.

Recently traveled to Northern California for family vacation. We were staying at hotel adagio and wanted a place close by for dinner on a somewhat chilly rainy evening. This was across the street so we decided to try it. What a wonderful meal we had. The service was friendly and fast but not rushed. The atmosphere is upscale yet casual. The food was delicious! The food was reasonably priced as well. Everything tasted so fresh and home made with generous portions. The food was piping hot! Husband and son had the spaghetti bolognese and I had the papardelle . Daughter had a pizza. We had the date and prosciutto appetizer. It was the first dinner that we had on an 8 day trip and no other dinner compared during the rest of our trip. We highly recommmend this restaurant.

I ate here last night with a work friend. The restaurant has long communal tables great for friendly gatherings. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable with food and wine pairings as well as dinner & dessert recommendations. I had the Canneloni, roasted eggplant, ricotta, fresh tomato sauces, pesto for $18 - very reasonable for a large portion. And delicious. My colleague had the ravioli which while excellent was a much smaller portion and would not satisfy a large eater. It would be best paired with an appetizer. Definitely recommend.

We stopped in for dinner and ordered the gnocchi with lamb ragu and the orecchiette with sausage. They were both tasty and the pasta was cooked just right. Service was prompt and friendly. Overall, it was a good dinner spot.

This restaurant is part of The Marker hotel but easily accessible to anyone passing. It has a lovely, vibrant atmosphere with friendly staff and excellent Italian food at a very reasonable price. Even better for us as we were staying in the hotel but I would recommend it anyway and we saw that most customers were coming from outside. People with mobility problems can access the restaurant via the hotel without using steps.

As someone whose grandfather was born on Italian soil and who grew up on Croatian coast (just across Adriatic from Italy), this really is the most authentic Italian food I have found in a long while. Focaccia is to die for. You could literally have a proper feast on that wonderful fluffy goodness alone. All dishes are authentic, right down to touch of corn / semolina on the pizza. Parma ham and figs reminded me of my nonna, no messing around, no “our take on” just a classic, perfect as it has been for centiares classical dish. Don’t make a mistake I did and not leave room for the dessert… I now have chocolate blots all over my hotel bed, as tiramisu was so good, I practically inhaled it but thousands of chocolate shavings went flying… definitely better enjoyed in the buzzing atmosphere at the restaurant. Bonus point: it’s not too dark as restaurants often are on the pretence of “atmosphere”. I hate, HATE eating my dinner squinting - food should be enjoyed visually too! It’s so nice to see an upmarket place get that balance between not being lit like a doctor’s surgery but not making you have to guess what you’re eating right. Thank you Tratto :)

Very rude receptionist, pushed out at 10pm because the kitchen closed, totally ridiculous and unprofessional. A pity because the food is quite good though.

The place is a happening little restaurant/bar. The place was packed and we did not have reservations so we sat at the communal tables for a late dinner. We each ordered pizza and both were superb. Very flavorful and not too much crust. We each had leftovers for breakfast. We were staying at the attached Marker Hotel so this place worked out great.

We often see theater matinees and it usually about 4:00pm when they get out. Too late for lunch, too early for dinner. W have come here twice during that time because they has a good bar menu: 3-salads, 3-small plate and 3-pizzas. We share one item from each category. The house wines are pretty decent & the bar service in top notch.

It is a hotel restaurant so not the best. It was just ok and of course expensive. The service was ok not great. There pizza was terrible but some of the pasta was ok.

We entertained a client during the healthcare conference. We were offered three choices for lunch. One was already sold out at 12:05. We were handed a cardboard box with a cheap sandwich, a cold terrible side dish, an orange and a cookie and a bottle of water. Plastic utensils. It was like prison food. It was not only terrible food and service but it cost $75 each and they forced a a large mandatory tip. $450 for four people. Absolute scam and rip off. Unbelievable. Never again.

This restaurant is in a hotel but there is direct access from the street. There can be queues to get a seat but the service after that is good. There is a moderate range of food and it is fairly priced for what it is. Alcohol is expensive ($15 ++ for a glass of moderate wine). Probably best to book if you want a seat at a popular time in the evening.

Good food but shocking attitude of one of the staff. Watched as young girl with long hair interacted in a hostile manner with other dinners across the room- something to do with splitting tables. Customers were accommodating but worker was really not. Then when we tried to give her our money on our way out she kept barking "give it to your server". Shockingly we were interrupting her doodling!

I would not recommend eating here for the following reasons.... 1... We ordered Happy Hour drinks, and were told to sit in the adjacent hotel lounge because all of the bar stools were taken. We were charged full price for the drinks because "you have to sit at the bar to get Happy Hour pricing." Kind of a Catch 22. 2... The portions of food were incredibly small. 3... We ordered bruschetta with our dinner..... waited for 15 minutes for it, but it never came. We gave up because we had to get to a show. 4... Our waitress was completely overwhelmed by having to wait on way too many tables. 5... It is incredibly loud in the restaurant. It would be easy to find a more enjoyable pre-show dining experience.

The food and service were excellent here. Very efficient and friendly service. Excellent drinks. Community table or separate. Choose the community 0- interesting people come here.

We ate both dinner and breakfast here when staying at The Marker. All of the staff were amazing and the food very good. Generous servings but not too much, super fresh and prepared beautifully. I went the risotto twice, it was SO good!

I had breakfast and on an other day dinner in that stylish restaurant close to the Hilton Union Square Hotel. Both were really good and in quite a good portion. Prices seemed fair to me (yet I wasn't too long in SF to really be able to compare). A real nice Italian style restaurant; would love to return there!!

Snuck in for a quick bite, recommend by the concierge at the Hilton. Really good food, great find. Lemon pasta primavera has a great sauce. Attentive service

We went to Tratto because it is short walk from Union Square. The service was relaxed to the point that some would call it slow. We were in no hurry; so, it was no problem for us. We ordered: Bruschetta appetizer; Cannelloni, Gnocchi, Local Rock Fish for the main course; and Olive Oil Cake, and Molten Chocolate Cake Desserts. Everything was well prepared. I was particularly impressed with the rock fish, it was cooked to perfection. I took a quick look around as we were leaving. There were a few tables of two or three person and a large group but most of the tables were single persons who, I assumed, were staying at the hotel. We may go back but there are so many fine restaurants to try in San Francisco.

I had seafood risotto. My wife had the spinach tagliatelle. Both were deeeelicious! We had been to Italy in April and this was every bit as good as we got there! And the price was very reasonable for a big city restaurant.

Really don't like, when you enter nice restaurant where its better to make a reservation, ask for good table in the corner and you are told, that its reserved by somebody else before, but nobody ever comes to sit there. Instead of staff being kind and remind you, that maybe other reservation is canceled, so you can still sit there, nobody actually cares. So we got table in the middle between two tables and we had to hear people talking the whole time, because other tables were quite close to one another. Expect more from restaurant like this one. Otherwise regarding food not much to say, its OK without any significant flaws.

We are currently on holidays from Australia & dined at Tratto this evening. I am a chef back home & that meal was top food, the service was amazing & food was just just as amazing. We read a review about the Italian donuts... wow!!! Thank you to the staff for the great work Aussie chef & boyfriend Keep up good work

The original plan had been to go to China Town but, to be honest, we’d already eaten too much during the day so wanted a bit less. The teenager came up with this restaurant, mainly due to the Italian doughnuts 🍩 on the menu 😄 Very pleased she found it. One positive thing to point out is the portion sizes. After a number of years living in the States I have become used to overly large portions. So this was a lovely surprise, sensible portions of beautifully cooked food. The grown ups went with pasta while junior went with pizza. All really enjoyed our courses. The doughnuts were worth the visit alone. The tiramisu a little disappointing, more a sponge cake than a tiramisu (where is my soaked and soggy bottom!). But I am rather fussy about tiramisu and this definitely did not spoil the evening. Home made limoncello is worth having.

A salad supposed to be with goat cheese: not a piece of goat on the horizon and absolutely no goat taste among the ingredients. Restaurant very expensive considering the quality. Boss very unsympathetic. I would not recommend it at all.

My husband and I were in the Union Square area overnight, and wanted a quick dinner. Pizza and salad sounded good, so we stopped into Tratto, which is actually the restaurant in a hotel (whose name I forget!) We shared a pizza, which was delicious, as well as an arugula and shaved fennel salad. Yum! It also had watermelon radishes in it, which I have never had, topped with a lemon vinaigrette. I recreated this salad at home, but the dressing wasn't as good as Tratto's! Prices are reasonable, ambiance comfortable and good service. I'll definitely stop back in when we are back in the Union Square area!

Good place for pizza pasta and a drink. The pasta was yummy the pizza good. Dessert to if you like. Service was good. Our waiter at times couldn't help to be not nice but always corrected himself. All in all awesome job.

Went with family (6 of us) without a booking and they managed to squeeze us in even though fully booked. Service was great and the mushroom pizza was incredible. Pasta portions were huge and everyone enjoyed it. Would recommend

We really enjoyed our dinner at Tratto! My friend ordered a salad and I ordered a veggie plate and a polenta with meatball and ricotta. It was such a nice moment

Just got back from a delicious Italian lunch at Tratto! The pizza with sausage had a crisp crust with the perfect combination of toppings. My spinach pappdella with meat sauce was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had!! Our waiter, William, was knowledgeable and attentive without hovering over us. Thanks, William! We highly recommend this restaurant on Geary Street near 2 great theaters. It doesn't get any better :)

And this is difficult to find! So delicious scrambled eggs with shaved parmigiana on top and delicious toasts covered with sliced avocados on the side. Not to forget the nice decor. Ideal for a Sunday brunch.

I really wanted pizza but once I found out the pasta was made fresh in house I promptly changed my order. I highly recommend the spinach tagliatelle. Exceptional flavor. The service was top notch.

The pizza is phenomenal. I called from our hotel room and ordered one and not only was it ready in 10 minutes, but it was comparable to the best 3 pizzas I've had.

The pasta is home made and very delicious. They have a good selection of wines and spirits. My meal was reasonably priced.

Very good Italian gourmet restaurant. It’s refined, the dishes are mastered and the setting is very pleasant. Pleasant service. I recommend as a couple or family.

This is an Italian restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. The pizza and gnocchi are very delicious. The minestrone is also good, but it would be better if the portions were smaller or if we could share.

I stayed at the hotel next door so had the pleasure of eating breakfast and brunches which were excellent. Ingredients were good and fresh, and what is unusual no dish was overly salty or sweet: the granola, for example, was the "real thing" with no added sugar. And service was mostly attentive and efficient. It was delightful to start the day. I had little experience with their other meals and drinks.

We discovered this quiet spot for an excellent breakfast after finding long lines at a number of recommended spots. Apparently best known for pizza and Italian fare, Tratto is attached to The Marker, a beautiful hotel. A bit pricey, but the quiet atmosphere, nifty decor and excellent food were worth it.

We stopped after a long day on our way back to the hotel... although it was very loud in the restaurant ( as it seems to be very frequent here thou...), we got welcomed with smile and greetings and sitted straight away. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. Food was very good (garlic and mushroom pizza and brocoli pastas), we went for a Tuscan wine which was very good too and not that expensive compared to Californian wines... quite surprised with the bad reviews on Tratto, as it doesn’t reflect at all our experience. Highly recommended if you feel like a nice Italian dinner!

Very good italian style food. Restaurant is nice and close to union square. Good choice after a long day of walking. Is very family friendly, I went with 3kids and wife, prices fair.

This is a very cute and quaint restaurant that served us amazing food! We ordered the roasted vegetables and a kale salad. The starters were very good and I enjoyed them. For the entree we ordered the roasted grape with prosciutto and goat cheese we also ordered a salami and bell pepper pizza and we enjoyed them both. The dessert menu had a very wide variety of delicious desserts. We ordered the Italian doughnuts and the chocolate cake with vanilla gelato. They were both VERY delicious and very enjoyable. All in all the prices were fair and it is a very good restaurant. This restaurant truly deserves 5 stars.

Late booking for dinner. Very nice food and great service. Pleasant atmosphere. Awesome waitress. Definitely recomend.

We enjoyed dinner here. There were 8 of us and everyone was happy. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The pastas were excellent and we also enjoyed the halibut, calamari, salads and more.

Lunch was delicious - salad and pizza with wine. Fast and friendly service made this a great stop on a busy day.

Mediocre pasta...way to much cheese on the manicotti. With a tile floor & soaring ceilings it was extremely noisy. Not great for conversation. Funky space looks like a lobby. Better Italian around town.

Stayed at the Marker and ended up here for dinner one night. Really good food and great service. The atmosphere is nice, but pretty noisy. We enjoyed both our meals and the wine.

I loved Tratto! I had a great meal. The bruschetta was tasty and I recommend it for an appetizer. The gnocchi was great and the portion size was large. They have jugs of red wine and white wine. I was too full for dessert but friends loved it. Service is first class and I never felt rushed. Prices was reasonable especially for downtown. We will return!

Tratto occupies an iconic corner on Geary just a couple of blocks up from Union Square. It was legendary when the Grand Cafe in its hay day. Tratto is a simple, reasonably priced Italian cafe and bar that still works for a place to drop in to. I wouldn't say it is a dining destination, but it is a good convenient place to grab brunch or a drink between things. If you are staying at the hotel it is an easy way to avoid the over choice that is dining in SF.

Tratto was within walking distance of our hotel, however, we didn't realize they have a huge theater crowd. Restaurant was crowded (which is OK) but noisy. We knew we wanted Italian dishes and our waiter wasn't very helpful with the wine selection. Luckily the manager helped deliver our appetizer (Bruschetta) and he recommended an excellent wine. Food was really good, service was quick but overall, kinda pricey for our total meal (less the wine). If you're in the Union Square area, you may want to consider but remember the theater is close by and gets very full.

Bad food, terrible service. The restaurant was quite empty for a Saturday night. Waiter said they couldn’t make two plates instead of one for me and my mom to share and said that could only split the check in equal amounts between the people on our table of 6, some had wine and others didn’t. When the check came it had already the 20% tip added, which is ok but the waiter questioned my brother about it. Be careful.

We ate in Tratto’s on the first night of our stay in SF. The ambiance is lovely, the tables are well spaced and it is not too noisy. The food was delicious: well prepared traditional Italian dishes. We could taste the fresh tomatoes in the pasta sauce. The house wines were very good quality, and well worth the price. Subsequent meals in SF have been more expensive and nowhere near as good as Tratto’s. It is worth booking to ensure you get a table.

Pros: homey scene, good vibe, good food Cons: One view overlooks Walgreen's This reminds me of a traditional neighborhood Italian place. Friendly, lively atmosphere, some locals. Foods were tasty and hearty-nothing fussy here. Pastas were hot and delicious. Prices very reasonable (for S.F.). Ate here twice on our visit.

We went here more by chance, due to the location of our hotel, and had one of the best meals we had in a week in SF. Every part of the meal was strong. Would go here agin in a heartbeat.

A pleasant dinner for one turned into a painful lesson in how not to manage a restaurant. This meal started promisingly, with the quick appearance of a courteous and professional waiter and the minestrone soup I ordered. The soup was tasty. The room was loud, despite only being about half full, but not unpleasantly loud. So far, so good. But the 25 minutes from the appearance of the soup until the appearance of the pasta main course is the basis for a serious downgrade. After about 18 minutes I told the waiter I was wondering if the food was still coming. He said yes, it would be right out. Seven minutes later, I was getting up to leave when the plate of pasta appeared. The next time I saw the waiter, I told him I would give him a good tip since I knew that this was not his fault. (To his credit, he had also recommended a great glass of wine and brought me a taste of that wine with no hesitation. This is standard practice in San Francisco but his help was still appreciated). As soon as he finished thanking me, the waiter hinted that the restaurant had some problems in managing the kitchen. I can’t say I was surprised to hear this. It is time to get rid of this restaurant and bring back something like the excellent Grand Café that used to inhabit this site; or at least time to bring in some new managers. After giving the waiter his promised tip, I wanted to convey to the podium staff what I wrote on the check, which is: “Get your act together.” But there was no one at the podium when I left. And I will not be back.

This is the restaurant for the Marker hotel, a great hotel in San Francisco. We had breakfast and were well served quickly. We ordered oatmeal and eggs and both were very good, particularly the oatmeal. If you need to stay in the hotel, this is a great place for quick dining.

Really great local pizza / pasta restaurant. Absolutely delicious pasta, really good pizzas with light dough and good choice of starters to share. Would definitely recommend

Food okay, but not particularly fantastic. The waiter was obviously unimpressed when I requested salt and pepper, although many other tables had condiments already on the table! Plates were cleared although one of the party was still eating. Acoustics totally unacceptable especially when a group nearby were exceptionally noisy. Not a particularly good experience.

We had to wait about 45 mins for a table and luckily we could do so in our hotel around the corner as there is nowhere to wait in the restauarant which meant we had to put up with a large group standing right beside our table while eating. The food was good quality - we had cannelloni, tagliatelle and a pizza and all were top quality. Good friendly service too.

Wife and I happily wondered into this place last night. The atmosphere is pretty laid back, which is nice. The focaccia bread was incredible! The butternut squash ravioli was great as well. We ordered the jug of wine, which was just ok. Service here was friendly and efficient. Would recommend checking out if you’re in the area.

We ate here on our anniversary trip and sat at ththe bar because we didn’t have a reservation. The bar tenders and atmosphere were still wonderful, but if you want a table, you’ll want to call ahead and reserve. This is not your Olive Garden Italian, but it was so good! I had a beef dish with potato gnocchi. My husband had the pizza with salami. Both were yummy and outsid the box dinning experiences for us. They had an old black and white movie projected in the Wall, which added more fun uniqueness. I don’t recall many young families there, but there were some.

Kind of a small plates place, we had fried chicken thighs (good) and a Fontana cheese with mushrooms pizza on thin crust. OFF THE HOOK good. Excellent service, we will be back

Wonderful - the restaurant looks from outside to be far more expensive than it actually is. The food is fresh, the service is fast and friendly and the interior very pleasantly designed. The food is great value for moeny. We had luck because we arrived for an early dinner having not made a reservation. By the time we left the restaurant was full. Great time had by all of us - 4 people in total.

Arriving at the Restaurant the Manager/Host was not the most welcoming one, but I felt in love with the 70´s ambiance! Food wise was excellent and we ordered 4 dishes of all pastas and we loved it! The bread hummmmm! Waiter was very polite and professional! the beer was delicious and cold. Unfortunately I believe the host/manager was not on his best day and our experience could be better...

We visited this restaurant as we were staying at The Marker. Staff, food and service are all excellent. Food was fresh and we enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Tratto.

We found this restaurant by chance six years ago and eat here every time we are in the city. The food has always been excellent with friendly professional table serves.

Tratto's menu was smaller than I anticipated, but the food was excellent. There were a few entrees that were meant to share and share we were very pleased. The staff was amazing. They were attentive (just like I like it) and made great recommendations. The Branzino was absolutely delicious.

Came here for breakfast. Nice place, friendly staff. My wife had a salmon bagel and I went for scrambled eggs. Nicely prepared, good coffee. Would return.

The food is delicious and perfectly portioned! You leave full and satisfied but not stuffed and sleepy. House made soda is really well done. Zagat recommendation was spot on!

My wife and I had breakfast—the acoustics were a bit jarring to start the day. The food we had was standard breakfast food and it was good. The service was good. The problem is that the sound just seems to bounce around until it is rattling a bit in your head. Did not make for a serene meal Don’t recommend for breakfast

In the morning you can get a lovely breakfast, the menu is simple but has what you need, they have gluten free bread. They serve lunch and dinner and while we did not eat here during this time it appeared busy. Lovely atmosphere, we grabbed a glass of wine in the evening from the very nice barman and popped into the foyer of the Marker Hotel to sit by their fireplace which should come with a snooze warning it is so cosy :)

We are staying at the Marker and popped in out of convenience. What a pleasant surprise! Toasted grain cereal with chia , blueberries and coconut- and my husband had smoked salmon with a platter of accompaniments for his bagel that included lemon, cucumber, capers and red onions. Robust coffee! We chose to eat light, but they had a full menu- we’ll be back!

My husband and I were looking for somewhere local (we were staying at the Clift) to grab some breakfast before heading to the airport on our last day in San Francisco. We headed into the Tratto with average expectations and have to say that we really had a lovely breakfast there. My husband had the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel and I had scrambled eggs, avocado and mushrooms. Both were delicious! Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Having just arrived in Frisco we were looking for somewhere that looked good without breaking the bank. We all like Italian so in to a very noisy dining room full of atmosphere if not one for personal conversations. The menu seemed to be full and f those elaborate items I have never seen in Italy. During the short wait we were particularly impressed to see the maitre d’ rolling up his sleeves and cleaning 5he tables so we could be seated quicker: this does not happen every day- well done. I settled far a safe tagliatelle bolognese with green pasta. Excellent. My wife and son hit a white mushroom garlic and truffle pizza which somehow avoided becoming overpowering. His fiancée enjoyed her gnocchi with spicy lamb. The house wine was good at $30 a carafe- such prices scare us Europeans big style but this is about the norm in city centres in the US. Total bill was just under $150 for 1 course for 4 and drinks all round. The standard of the food was well above average.

Good to be able to book through Open Table. The food was great but the choice was relatively small especially with the mains. The food portions were as Italians would not normally have where you are expected to have an appetiser , a salad and a main. In our case, where we ordered only mains, we had plenty of room for desserts! A pleasant evening overall.

I’ve eaten here 3 times w my wife. Not exactly sure how many times she’s been here wo me! It’s just a very pleasant place w great decor, nicely priced and varied wine list and fabulous servers. The arugula salad is plenty big enough to share and save room for the mains! Really nice crispy crust pizza. It IS on the border of the Tenderloin so be mindful of your surroundings. Great place!

We ate and evening meal here one night and breakfast one morning. Very nice and reasonable prices. Wife had pancakes and fruit at breakfast. Looked and was amazing!

We went for dinner and it was a great experience. We are vegetarians. The Pizza and cannaloni were excellent. More importantly the waiter was very patient and listened... you will enjoy the food.

The restaurant close late and that is good because restaurants close at 10 pm and the bars for the area don’t serve food. The service is good and the food is tasty ! I recommend the canelones! Are delicious !

We had a couple of pizzas and a couple of salads. Food came out in a reasonable time. Service was friendly. Prices were a bit high but we were in San Francisco so it was not out of line. We would go back

My daughter and I came here for my birthday dinner. Needed Italian because she is a super picky eater. Needed casual because she is 11 years old. Needed moderately priced because I didn't want to spend a fortune. Tratto delivered on all counts. We walked in around 7:30 on a Saturday night without reservations and since there were just two of us we were able to grab a seat at a large table near the bar and shared it with another family. My daughter ordered basic pasta with olive oil and cheese while I ordered beef and ricotta meatballs (just ok -- ricotta was a little overbearing) and the seafood linguine. The seafood was generous but the flavor was rather uninteresting.

Went for breakfast. Staff were friendly and the service was good. It wasn’t very crowded so not a lot of atmosphere. We had two coffees, two orange juice and two breakfast sandwiches. The bill came to $54! Much to expensive for a very average breakfast.

This is located in the Tenderloin district on Geary, inside of a hotel. It is very good. I had a business lunch here. It's a good location of rthat and or just to eat. Try the pizza is was very good and authentic. The atmosphere is nice, and it's a large open space.

We fancied Italian but didn’t want to walk far so settled for an Italian menu restaurant attached to a big hotel. Good choice. No reservation but seated immediately. The menu is not enormous but what we had was first class. Delicious crusty Foccaccia with oil and vinegar to dip, excellent risotto with pancetta and affogato to finish. But beware they were turning people away by 8:30! This place is worth a visit, just go early!

In short, this was a very disappointing meal. The server was distracted and not very welcoming, we felt as if we were an inconvenience, even though there were very few tables occupied in the restaurant – as it was a Sunday evening. The meal was ok – the tagliatelle and meatballs which I had was tasty. My husband had the steak which was average, a bit tough, and despite the high price tag it did not come with a potato side – that had to be ordered specially. When we finished our meal it took so long for our plates to be cleared that we decided against even considering dessert. The bill came with 20% gratuity applied.. and no option to reduce. Perhaps on a different evening when the restaurant is busy and there are more staff – it would be a different experience. I however will not be returning,

Went here for an evening meal whilst visiting San Francisco, as it was close to our hotel. Very well laid and decorated location with helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Food was excellent and out of the starters the polenta is especially recommended. We all picked different pizzas and all were excellent , but the Margherita and home made Italian sausage pizzas were the stand out pizza.

Walked here for dinner. Had the Tagliatelle and Chicken Breast for dinner. Drinks were good and dessert (Tiramisu) was good. Service was also very good. Personally, I like more room between tables...we were 2 feet away from the tables on both side of us which made for us getting to know our neighbors.

Having just flown in from London England I wanted somewhere close to my hotel In Union Square and Tratto in the Marker hotel was close by. Had the tastiest bruschetta I’ve had anywhere including in Italy, followed by spinach tagliatelle with three meat bolognese, which was also very tasty. Great service and felt quite quite comfortable eating solo. Good atmosphere around the bar, where black and white films are screened on the wall behind the bar. Enjoyed it so much I went back two evenings later after watching Giants v Oakland A’s at AT&T. The bruschetta was so good last time I ordered it again. Before it arrived I had a Torino Tonic cocktail which hit the spot. Bruschetta was perfect again, it must be the very fresh heirloom tomatoes and fresh basil they use. I followed this with spice rubbed chicken and ucceletto beans, accompanied by a glass of Central Coast 2015 ‘Liberated’ Pinot Noir, followed by an excellent Panna Cotta. Again great service and I good atmosphere.

We had breakfast here on our one-day visit. The service was excellent, the food delicious and definitely great value for money.

I really can’t understand the good comments about this restaurant... we went there to have lunch and it was really not good! My friend took carbonara pasta which were really greasy! They really didn’t look fresh, it seemed like they were just warmed up in the microwave and the taste was not good too! I took some bruschetta, normally real italian bruschetta are done with tomato etc but here it were only thin slices of bread (really really small) with some sort of creamy cheese like philadelphia an den ham and some grapes on it?? What’s the context with bruschetta?? Why don’t they call it ham toast... really disapointing! We’ll never go back to this restaurant... it isn’t an italian restaurant!

Went for dinner, was a little bit early but was allowed to sit down with a drink. Had the cannelloni which was excellent. For dessert tiramisù, also very good. Service was good. Not an inexpensive restaurant but good quality. Recommended.

Dined as part of a large group. Smallish menu but all the food is well done. Nice, well priced wine list with strong Italian focus. Cocktails are a specialty and well done. Service was a relaxed (maybe a bit slow). Great place for a medium sized group.

We needed a place near Union Square and Tratto fit the bill. The menu was broad enough and the food was very good though a bit pricey. The service was slow and the waiter was OK.

Good food, good position. Received incorrect salad which was deducted from bill despite me saying not to worry.

After dining at Tratto, we would thoroughly recommend anyone visiting San Fransisco, California to visit this restaurant because the quality of the food and service we received was exemplary. Once ordered, the focaccia starter with olive oil and two pasta dishes arrived within minutes each main piping hot, completely fresh and totally delicious. Would seriously recommend the potato gnocchi! The menu itself is very reasonably priced - so too the drinks list. Our waiter was swift and polite, and clearly very diligent at his job. The tiramisu dessert was light and velvety, and we left shortly after feeling very satisfied with everything we had experienced. Top evening.

We had high hopes as a family of 4 who enjoy Italian food. My wife and I both chose the ‘special’ but when it arrived (and we are not big eaters) it was very small compared with the other dishes guests had - the size of a starter. It was tasty but way too small. Our 9 year old son had a pizza which he enjoyed but it was uncooked in the middle, with liquid tomato juice/sauce running off it. Our other son had a good pasta dish and a hearty helping. My wife’s Pinot Grigio was poor quality and had sediment in the bottom, which I don’t expect even though I know it can occur. The waiter removing plates was uninterested when I said 2 of the dishes were too small. Our main waiter was similarly uninterested when I went into detail, and offered no apology or recompense. The food came surprisingly quickly and on cold plates. We went elsewhere for dessert.

My Wife & Myself stayed at the Marker Hotel, the Tratto is part of the hotel, but isn't just for residents We ate Breakfast there for our entire stay and had 3 or 4 things of the menu during that time, everything was well presented, tasty & served by very friendly & attentive staff We also had lunch a couple of times & the service was quick & the food delicious Highly recommended

I ate here to pasta load for a run I had the next morning. Service was friendly but I had to keep asking to refill my drink. It was a busy Saturday night. I made a reservation so I was seated promptly.

We made reservations on a Friday, at 6 p.m. at Tratto as part of a pre-theatre dinner with friends. From the start, it was not good. Although the restaurant was what looked to be a normal dinner crowd, our server was clearly stressed and disorganized. It took almost 15 minutes for her to get to us, and then she wanted us to order immediately. When we asked for drinks, she told us it would be a while.. It took almost 30 minutes to get drinks. We were going to order wine, but we figured it would never arrive in time! We ordered an appetizer as well as a few entrées. Almost 40 minutes later, our server brought everything out at the same time. The appetizer had clearly been sitting somewhere for a while because it wasn't even warm. Highly disappointing. Also, the cocktails are so small. I ordered a double Grey Goose martini, and there is no way it was a double because the glass couldn't have been more than 3 ounces...and that was $30!! The manager ended up comping part of our meal since it was such a disaster, but even with that, it was not reasonable. Stay Clear. We collectively agreed when we left that we need to find a better place for pre-theatre dinner!

We had dinner at Tratto on a Monday night - it was pretty full around 7pm. Unfortunately the restaurant's interior designer paid little attention to the acoustics (tiled floor, no soft wall/ceiling surfaces to absorb the sound), so the space is very loud. We found it difficult to have a conversation without raising our voices (which kicks off a downward spiral when everyone raises their voices). When our main course arrived, a large party of particularly loud-mouthed patrons (wearing convention badges) were seated behind us, so we pretty much had to yell at each other across the table to be heard. After a while we just wanted to get out of there. A real shame, because the food was quite good. I recommend the fresh gnocchi with braised pork.

This is adjoining the Marker hotel and whilst the latter is an excellent hotel the problem with a lot of City hotels in the States is that brand their restaurant to give it an identity to attract non residents and justify its existence. For a trattoria it has a limited menu and so America same old same old. It’s noisy on busy nights ( so its popular?) But it must be more out of curiosity and / or convenience to avoid a stroll across a few blocks to discover another eatery. Like ALL San Francisco eateries they are very very expensive and not good value for money . A basic 2 course meal here was £63 per person including wine . In UK It would be £40. The trouble is unless you go upscale in the Cities of USA so many restaurants like this are Okay but never great .

We visited for an early supper. Fresh pasta and pizza. Delicious. Great value. Our server was happy to give us more detail about the dishes and give good recommendations. No trouble accommodating my son’s nut allergy. Clientele was a good mixture of families, couples, groups of young people. Good atmosphere, would definitely go back.

Nice restaurant ,love the food and very nice hotel but the girl morning HOST need to smile more and be more accommodating to my group.

We had a decent meal here and the service was fine. The experience overall was fine but nothing special.

We chose this restaurant to meet friends for dinner as it was close walking from our hotel and had a fantastic time. The atmosphere was lively and the wait staff was very professional, friendly and attentive. Everyone enjoyed their dishes - everything from freshly made pasta to fish, there were great choices for everyone. I would visit again next time I'm in the city.

The service at this restaurant was terrible! The waiter wasn't interested in our experience at all. I was watching the female waitress handling the other section and wished she was looking after us. Food was OK for the price.

Went for breakfast in the morning and had such a wonderful one ( the French toast with roasted strawberries were divine) that we ended up there for dinner as well. My sister said the French fried polenta were the best she’d ever had and we all shared the chocolate lava cake that was a chocoholics delight. The staff were very friendly and very attentive. Please, if you’re in San Fran you must go.

From the attentive service to the exquisitely dressed Tuscan kale Caesar Tratto was a charmer. Our on-it waitress ensured a perfectly paced dinner and got us to our 8pm curtain down the street at ACT right on time. Hubs and I shared a creamy bowl of potato and root veggie soup with a splash pepita pesto oil on top to start. Next came the aforementioned Caesar with a kale twist, a little lemony, topped with a parmesan crisp and plenty of shaved pram. YUM. Hubs had a lovely multi-fungi with fontina pizza. Thin, thin crust and a truffle finish. I had the beef and ricotta meatballs served on a heavenly cloud of polenta. Listed as as app, but a satisfying entree. We closed with due cappacinos and headed off to a superb production of Heisenberg just steps away. Will happily repeat in future visit to the city. Oh! A the restrooms are in the lobby of the grand Marker Hotel...one more cool find on a warm Wednesday night in March.

A group of us went for dinner on our first night in San Francisco. We were impressed to start with! The place is cute, and the vibe is good. We started with lots of apps and shared wine. (If you're not picky, go for the $30 "jug" - it's not going to win any contests, but it's enjoyable and served our group of 5 two to three glasses each.) The foccacia was the number one winner... we ordered three servings... Also good was the bruschetta and the polenta fries. Then the main course came. Nothing was bad, but a lot was... meh. We all ordered pastas, and most found ours bland. The parpardelle with tomato was good. Very flavorful! And the seafood special was good too. The rest needed some flavor. Particularly the broccoli pesto. All in all we all ate our food and it was fine. I would go back for happy hour for sure, and if I was eating a full meal, I'd order the parpardelle or try a pizza.

Just happened upon this place near our hotel. Everything was delicious. Salad, ravioli, hamburgers, pastas. The sauce was amazing. Our service was slightly slow but we were just relaxing at the end of the day anyway.

Found this restaurant by chance and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Good service, good beer and pleasant atmosphere.

Food was terrific. Service was ok, empty glasses at some points. They also add gratuity on a party of 6, and not explained very well. Overall great experience.

We were staying a few blocks away at the Parc 55 Hilton and made a reservation based on the good reviews here. We were pleased to see a reasonably-priced children's menu. One of our granddaughters chose a bowl of pasta and the other enjoyed a pizza. We two oldsters complemented our entrees with a "jug" of the house red, a good value at $30. Rochelle, our server, was particularly friendly to our girls, and gave us good suggestions about ordering. By San Francisco standards, the food is good value, and that children's menu is a winner for families. We would enjoy dining here all by ourselves as well, and the atmosphere, food, and service made this a memorable evening for the four of us.

Really enjoyed our lunch here, great wholesome Italian food. Great service & prices very reasonable. Thank you!

We got a table in advance, so that may have effected the service, but honestly I belive everyone would get the same service from our waiter. His name is Alan, and I have to give him great kudos for humour, service and perfect advice. He was just awsome! Due to jetlag and little sleep we ordered only foccatia and a pasta dish each, but the homemade pasta was incredible and decent sized. We travelled on the next day, but if we hadde known about this place before we would have eaten here more than once. A little noisy because of the hard sufaces and acoustic in the room, but otherwise excellent service and really good italian food. Maybe some of the best value for food you can get as far as we got to know during five days in San Francisco.

Really poor service especially the GM tried to help but he was not helpful at all waste of money, I would spend my money and time elsewhere

We went here for a quick and early dinner and were really surprised by the tasty food. It was nice to find a good Italian restaurant after 3 weeks of Mexican/American food. The bruschettas were amazing. They tasted so good. And so did the fresh pizza and the pastas. Nice ambiance and relaxed atmosphere. Close to Union Square.

The most memorable part was the interior. I really liked the elaborate "maps" and drawings on the wall, and the projected black/white film. If only they could find some more attractive light fixtures! Breakfast was good, healthy and service swift.

Went here before the theatre to have Happy Hour drinks and "bites". The drinks menu is small, and does not contain anything you consider spirits; rather mixed drinks containing Campari, Aperol, wine, and sherry. There are also 2 beers, and house red or white. The small plates are better, with items like beef and ricotta meatball sliders, spiedini (skirt steak with mushrooms and peppers, fried chicken thighs, etc. all reasonably priced. In addition, we shared a pasta dish from the main menu that was very good (baked orecchiette, Italian sausage, rapini ragu with bread crumbs)

Stopped in to get a take out order. There were two gentlemen at the host station and I could see them look down their noses at us. The gentlemen at the bar who took our order were nicer but it took them quite a while to take the order and didn't give us a chance to order a drink while we waited (which was considerable).

The Tratto at the Marker was around the corner from where we were staying. A great location just slightly away from the hustle of Union. Nice pizzas, wine & beer. Service as you would want. We went there twice!

We were ready for a good, comforting meal and we got one. The meatball appetizer is outstanding. We got two different pasta dishes for dinner and they were fresh and delicious. Our waiter seemed disappointed we didn't order drinks or dessert. We got the vibe he hoped we would spend more. But aside from that, we really loved our meal.

Went here after we checked out from The Marker. We needed to grab lunch before catching our flight and were short on time. The food was amazing! We split the pear pizza and the baked orecchiette and everything was delicious.
Beware of security in restrooms
This hotel restaurant uses the lobby restrooms for patrons. Hotel security, the self-professed manager of security, followed me in to the bathroom and demanded to know who I was without identifying himself. The hotel manager added nothing of value to the conversation when I reported the harassment. Regardless, a hotel and restaurant should not have a policy for their security staff to harass bathroom-using guests.
