Delicious but share plates

By mommytravels |

I tell you to share the plates because the portions are large. Twice for brunch, we all left half of our food. Nice menu, good enough in size. Good service, nice ambiance. Definitely try it once if you stay at the hotel.

Best of Chicago

The Latham Hotel is sublimely great and this on property restaurant is simply amazing. Perfect service, beautiful environment and fantastic food. Business lunch, date night or just because, I love this place.

Top Notch from A to Z

By AmandaChicago |

We had an amazing dinner which was perfectly paced, superb service and genuine from Amber. The watermelon salad was divine, as well as the New York strip steak. Wine list is extensive; we enjoyed that as well as whiskey selections. We highly recommend Travelle. Thank you for a memorable evening!

Nice Meal

By ChiMagMile |

We were here for an early dinner on a Saturday night. He ordered bison short rib and I had the black cod. We split their version of a Caesar salad, which was tasty. (WE literally split it--they did give us plates, but did not split it FOR us either in the glassed-in kitchen nor at the tableside.) The bison dish was a large portion--looked like 12 ounces not counting the bone. It was very good, as was the cod which was in squash broth and came with little dabs of chorizo for a delightful, complex fusion. We got fried bread pudding with candied kumquats and orange ginger (?) ice cream. For that we got one long plate which made it hard to share. The price was not unreasonable and while the view was not fab, the dining room was very pretty. The service was very quick up until dessert, when it slowed dramatically. The service was low-key: attentive but unassuming--when they overheard us talking about it taking long, it magically appeared. A manager did come and ask about our experience--she did not interrupt or tarry which was appreciated (and unusual in our experience). We will return,

Beautiful Bar but Restaurant over priced and over rated

By Brian S |

The bar at Travelle is lovely, with a great vibe and great views of the river and the city. Great spot, fun and imaginative specialty drinks. The restaurant was a disappointment however. I was anticipating a beautiful and romantic room, but found bright lights, lots of kids, and diners in T-shirt’s. The room was not warm, or elegant, although the open kitchen was nice. Waiters were friendly and efficient. Menu was okay, food was underwhelming. The octopus appetizer was aweful and inedible. I am an octopus nut, and until I went to Travelle I never met an octopus I didn’t like. Crispy, hard, salty, terrible. Artichoke hearts were sweet? And salty, and not very tasty. Tagliatelle with pork ragu was uninspired, and Luke warm. Risotto was crusty hard like it sat under the warming lamps for an hour. Wine list had one red under $80, and total bill was way more than the meal was worth. Average setting, poor food, overpriced.

Late Lunch

By Tamara314 |

The location was great for a business lunch. The bar had a great view of the river, and the seating was spacious. Had the Adobo Mahi Mahi, which was excellent. We shared a couple new desserts on the menu, and they were extremely tasty.

Delicious Breakfast

By lws1515 |

Ate breakfast at the Travelle. The service was very good as well as the food. We ate the baked eggs and cheese crepe eggs. Both were fabulous!

Well executed (for the most part)

By SweetWillie |

Mrs Willie & I went with my parents to Travelle on Saturday night for a Mother's Day dinner. As we had a theatre event scheduled for 7:30pm, we were there at 5pm when they opened. Highly suggest having a drink in the bar area, pre or post dinner. The 2nd floor bar area overlooking the river with floor to ceiling windows, one gets a view of the buildings as well. Unfortunately we arrived just before 5 & didn't have time. Bread & butter - bread are dinner rolls, the pillowy dinner rolls that are served at a good diner. Butter is whipped with honey & a bit of dijon mustard, sprinkled with sea salt. Enjoyable. We started with: Crispy Octopus w/pork belly, salsa verde, harissa, sugar snap peas Gnocchi w/rabbit sausage, fava beans, pea vines, cipollini onions Tortellini w/lemon mascarpone, asparagus, parmesan butter, frico Hamachi Crudo w/avocado, tomatillo, cilantro The crudo and gnocchi were outstanding. Tortellini was good. Crispy octopus was not crispy at all, in fact the octopus was mushy. Entrees: Pork & Clams - Berkshire pork chop, manila clams, morels, ramps Pistachio Lamb Loin - spring vegetable fricassée, citrus jus The Fish Guy's Whole Fish for two Pork & Clams was very good, cooked perfectly, LOTS of morels, I was very pleased. Using those pillowy dinner rolls to soak up the broth was my favorite part. The fish was sea bass, pan sauteed with thyme/herbs. Expertly executed, cooked perfect. Served with white asparagus & shaved parmesan cheese. Lamb was well executed but just didn't pop with flavor. Service was very good, some small mishaps when our primary server wasn't around but we were very pleased overall. Travelle was very nice & provided a complimentary dessert in honor of Mother's day, while the Banana & Peanut Butter Pot de Creme (nutella, malted milk ice cream) was calling out to me, we all decided on the Spring Verrine of blackberry sorbet, lemon black pepper ice cream, w/toasted meringue top. The lemon black pepper ice cream was amazing. Valet parking is $14, make sure the restaurant validates your valet ticket w/a stamp.

Fresh fresh fresh!!!

By Kimmarie S |

Travelle is a fantastic restaurant! Ingredients are fresh and used in the most creative ways! We recently dined here on a Wednesday. In addition to the regular menu, a prix fixe is offered using ingredients purchased from the Farmers' market on that day. Our dinner was delicious! 4 courses for $45. Add $20 (recommend) for added wine pairings. The pea soup was outstanding and like nothing I'd ever tasted. The ambiance is great. Travelle is located in the gorgeous Langham hotel. Service is exceptional and the kitchen is open behind glass walls. Really fun!

They have here a traditional High Tea - great for girls-afternoon-outing

By Annaline |

The hotel is not easy to spot because it is located in the former office building (IBM building) designed by Mies van der Rohe (the last one built in US and the tallest one of all of them in US). Hotel is on the 2 through 13 floor. They serve in their lounge (2nd floor) next to the check in desk its signature afternoon tea, The Langham Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood China, recalling the grandeur of the original hotel, The Langham, London, where the tradition was born in 1865. The room offers great views of Chicago river and the entrance to the Trump Tower located across the street. Afternoon Tea includes proprietary Langham teas, and an array of sweet and savory bites. All are served with traditional displays and flourish, accompanied by live music (grand piano). It was a perfect afternoon tea time for me and my girlfriends. A little bit too pricey though ($65 + tip per person). Don't forget to make reservations for this high tea.

Excellent restaurant in the Langham hotel

By joeAtraveller |

Ate here during a recent business trip. Excellent restaurant. Inside the Langham hotel on the 2nd floor. Nice lobby and entrance. Has a very elegant, modern, appearance. Would be a great place to bring a date. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Service was prompt without being overbearing. Very good wine selection, with some reasonably priced. Food was excellent. Good sized portions. Very flavorful. Had the short ribs and brussels sprouts, sirlion filet, duck and green beans. All were excellent. I would definitely eat here again.

Average is a good description

By solascmark |

The food was neither bad nor great. The best thing is that you are not going to spend a lot of money getting an average meal like you do at many of Chicagos "fine" restaurants. So even though the meal is not in my top fifty best I did not mind because I did not pay that much. So probably a 4 for value and a 3 for quality.

Fantastic View and Excellent Service

By Persecutor |

Our flight to Chicago was late and we decided to have some drinks and dinner in our hotel on our first night in the city. From the moment we walked in to the bar we couldn’t have been treated better with a warm welcome, advice on the menus and that it was no problem where we ate or had a drink as they could just transfer between the two. Bar service was excellent and attentive and this continued into the restaurant although it was quite quiet. All 6 courses for the two of us were fantastic although I must admit with a long travel time we struggled to finish them all. This is our first time in Chicago but on day 2 we can already see that the bar is a popular place and I’m not surprised as the service is first class. Will definitely return during the remainder of our stay!!

A great mix of elegance and fun

By desrlmt |

Don’t let the elegance of Travelle fool you—this is a restaurant that knows how to have fun with the off-beat and very creative dishes it offers. My wife and I were there at the tail end of Sunday brunch time for what would be dinner for us. The special, we were told, was grilled cheese sandwich. We passed on that for an eclectic array of dishes that exploited Travelle’s creativity to the max: oysters on half shell, a mountain of eggs Benedict, grilled cod, burrata and figs. The service was attentive and personable. Prices were quite reasonable, considering this restaurant is at the upper end of fine dining. We’ll be back for sure.

Best breakfast buffet EVER

By 2ys |

If there is one area that luxury hotels over charge for, its breakfast - particularly a buffet. While Travelle is expensive ($39 per person) it is all exceptional quality (including prawns and crab claws). There isn’t a huge selection, which means that what is there is great quality and turns over quickly enough that it was always fresh. Really good smoked salmon and applewood bacon (we were all obsessed) and fresh fruit too. Friendly service and a beautiful setting.

Best hidden gem dining in Chicago!

By The Happy Traveler |

Travelle Restaurant at the Langham is a true diamond of a hidden gem! It’s inside the AMA (American Medical Association) building on the Langham Hotel side. It’s never busy and I still can’t figure that one out because the food, ambience and service is always 10 stars! It’s beautifully decorated inside and one of the best top drawer lesser known dining places in Chicago. Service is impeccable, pristinely clean and menu choices are an epicureans’ delight! We had the Gem Salad with carved roasted chicken. Meals here never disappoints us! The tantalizing champagne dressing creation was actually a jelly in the salad that when served, slowly dissolves into the salad which gives a unique and wonderful flavor without the greens wilting! Delicious fresh blackberries coupled with candied walnuts gave a nice tart and sweet balance to the salad. A beautiful creation. I truly enjoy coming here for a quiet meal time away from the noise whenever I get in the city. The menu changes periodically and always has unique and delicious creations.

Travelle at the Langham - Simply Amazing !!!

By Pri.M.R |

Friendly and courteous staff but above all the food was exquisite! We had a variety of different options including the tasting menu. Every dish was unlike the other each a new experience, flavor and texture. A must try !! Chef Justin is definitely top notch ! Some of the delicious foods are pictured below !

Very nice restaurant - great breakfast

By MJC929 |

Brunch looked great but we ordered off the menu. Service was attentive and flawless. Food was very good and portions were generous. A bit expensive, but worth it in comparison to other hotel restaurants - much nicer experience.

Great day trip for spa and Afternoon tea

By Grace K |

We've come here several times for afternoon tea. It truly is as close as you can get to tea service in London. The decor, beautiful view of Chicago River and impececable service makes it a wonderful place for special occasions since tea service can be a bit expensive for the average diner. I also spent the day here with my girlfriend to be relaxed in their Chuan spa and it really is heavenly to escape to get energized and rejuvenated from the dreary and cold days of November in Chicago.

AMAZING VIEW and EXCELLENT SERVICE ..!!!

By AROUNDTHEWORLD! |

We were here for cocktails and some appetizers We found wonderful and so original and delicious cocktails made only at the Langham The appetizers are elegant and very tasty. The service is always top notch by a blonde and lovely lady. The view here is outstanding ..!! We tried different and elegant place in Chicago but this one is definitely a must. Thank you Thibaut to bring excellence at this place.

Modernist Aerie

By Alan Shannon |

We visit this large and comfortable bar before heading to a show and it never fails to disappoint. It's rarely crowded; never loud. The sleek room is stunning--floor to ceiling windows provide panoramic views of the river and cityscape. The service couldn't be better and, most importantly, the cocktails are perfection. I haven't eaten at the restaurant for over a year, but I thought it, too, was excellent. Still, it's the bar that's the stunner for me.

Awesome food in a modern setting

By Erik S |

It isn't often that you have a meal that is striking, where the flavors and presentation grab your attention. Dinner here is on that level. Start with the London Lover, a three-course COCKTAIL with passion fruit ant a rosé chaser. Then move on to the ahi poke, elegantly seasoned and served with crispy, flavorful pork rind rather than the typical taro chips. Or maybe the charred-tar, tenderloin served on tender flatbread, seasoned with A-1 aoili (!) and perfectly fried quail eggs. Dinner offers similar amazing choices, but I suggest the Nigerian prawns, gigantic shellfish grilled to perfection. The scallops were also tasty and precisely the right texture. Sides are separate, and the spiced acorn squash and crunchy beer-battered cauliflower were served hot and heady with aroma. Service was friendly and servers were very knowledgeable about the menu, though service was surprisingly slow, given the small number of diners. But that is a small demerit. Just know that you shouldn't be in a rush if you are coming here. Take the time, relax, and luxuriate in innovative cuisine in a sharp, modern space. Highly recommended.

Good Sunday Brunch

By Jurgen P |

This place was recommended by the hotel, and they were right. Good food, but limited. The service was also good.

Restaurant week brunch - started off great.

By st07 |

Restaurant week for brunch. Beautiful dining room and lovely service. Burrata appetizer was so well prepared that I had very high expectations for the rest of the meal. Alas, the calamari was not crispy and bread pudding for dessert had a weird flavor (although the sugared pecans were good). The view of the ‘corn cobs’ is great and it looked like a lot of people were enjoying afternoon tea in another area. I’m glad we visited.

Excellent farm-to-table food!

By Quarksbarb H |

I was here with my husband and sister on a culinary tour of Chicago (i.e. eating at as many restaurants as possible in 5 days). This was one of our best meals. The room overlooks the river but it's on a low floor so the views aren't spectacular and our table was about as far from the windows as you could get. We didn't mind. We had a booth and the seat wasn't too low even though both my sister and I are short. We started with cocktails, which were unusual - mine was made with turmeric infused Plymouth gin! For lunch, my husband had pea soup and a lamb burger, my sister had a grilled bacon and cheese sandwich, and I had a mahi-mahi sandwich for which I asked that the fish be cooked medium-well. Every one of our meals was excellent and my fish wasn't overcooked. If I'd known it came with fries I would have requested a vegetable instead. They were good, but I don't eat potatoes. For dessert, my husband had the blackberry sundae (I think that's what it was) and it was so big he couldn't finish it. My sister and I split a lemon desert and it was unremarkable. I would have preferred something chocolate... My sister didn't finish her sandwich so we took it home and it was still good several days later. Yes, we would go back.

Crab toast was amazing

By Sarah M |

The best meal we had in Chicago! Went for lunch, had crab toast and a quinoa salad, which were incredible. Located in The Langham.

Tea at the Langham

By Sue N |

Absolutely a most wonderful afternoon birthday treat with my daughter thanks to her most thoughtful husband....Food was delicious....tea trying was good and service was superb....Can't wait till next year....nice view from our window table as well...

Best view in the city period.

By Tod N |

Great food and awesome drinks at this spot. Also hands down the best view of the river and city. Travelle is on my list of favorite spots to visit when in Chicago.

Wonderful lunch in Travelle

By Ann H |

My husband and I were in Chicago for the boat show . We were looking for somewhere to have lunch and found The Travelle on google . We had a great table in the bar area with a beautiful view of tbe Chicago river. They have an expansive cocktail menu and nice wine list. Also, a good bar menu plus you can order from the restauranr menu. I wanted to write this review to give props to our server Arlene. Her knowledge of the cocktail and food menu was very impressive. She took time to answer any question we had and make our selections which we really enjoyed . Arlene was also very friendly and checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. We are looking forward to returning and next time we will spend the night!

outstanding dinner!

By Dan B |

We had dinner in the wine room. The food was wonderful and the service was professional and caring. All the details were personally handled by the maitre'd, Claire. The hotel (Langham) gets such high reviews and we were interested in whether the main dining room would measure up to the same standards. Sure did! Much thanks for service that was so focused on us having a nice time.

Upscale Trendy

By jej9001 |

I found this restaurant on open table under new and noteworthy. It is in Langham Hotel on the second floor. It's a beautiful space. We sat next to the open kitchen which was fun. The service is impeccable and there is an eclectic menu. The food is beautifully presented. I was a little disappointed in the preparation. My fish was overcooked my husbands prawns undercooked and the flavors a little dull. Ok I'm a food snob! I would try this place though for the experience. I'm sure the chefs will season as the menu is inventive.

Intersting option

By Gelderlander |

I would not go for a restaurant that is part of a hotel if I would not be staying there. Perhaps Travelle needs to be an exception. They are located in a beautiful Hotel , but the restaurant itself is not so posh as the entry and lobby would suggest. Comfortable yet simple seating. The menu offers original items. I went for the NY steak, a safe option. They have a great menu card for desert. I was expecting the crème brulee and cheesecake, but citrus tart , costa rica reserve and the millionaire’s stand out .

Very Special and Best Service Experience Ever!

By dziyanasavelyeva |

I had a birthday dinner celebration in the Travelle restaurant and it was absolutely marvelous! My birthday ended up super special thanks to Mauricio’s attentive and above & beyond service! We felt very well taken care of and couldn’t ask for a better evening. My husband and I also had our 7 months daughter with us. We were not the easiest table to serve because of that. We very much appreciate Mauricio’s great attitude and we felt super welcome regardless. The restaurant provided with a highchair and kindly heated our baby’s meal. They also was kind enough to ask when to bring food for our table since my husband and I had to take turns and to rock our daughter in the stroller. Food was fantastic, wine selection is beautiful. It was my best service experience. Thanks Mauricio for your warm welcome straight from the heart!

Breakfast

By cromero1027 |

Beautiful restaurant. Had eggs benedict and pancakes. They were delicious. A little pricey for breakfast but food quality and ambiance were worth it.

Quite European, universally worth it

By desrlmt |

The first thing you have to know is that Travelle is in the Langham Hotel, which is part of a chain more familiar in Asia and Europe. The reason you need to know that is that me and my wife were the only diners from opening at 5 till about 7, when a few parties wandered in, but prime time for dining was more in the range of 8 or 9 pm. Not that this detracted from our experience, but if you like the energy and validation of a crowd, you need to eat late or go elsewhere. As to price, Travelle is very expensive, but if you can restrain yourself from wine and cocktails more than we did, two can eat well for $150. Our tab was $265, but drinks amounted to $140. Our meals justified the prices. Raw oysters on the half shell were the only ordinary part of our meal. My gazpacho was surprisingly green, not red, but subtly delicious with accents of veggies and nuts. My wife had snapper that she called “perfect.” For me, in carb-load mode for the Chicago Marathon, noodles with mushrooms, in the most delicious creamy broth I’ve ever had, couldn’t have been better.  Dessert was banana bread sorbet—original and delicious. We also benefitted from a superb server, Steven, also a runner, who proved to be both knowledgeable and delightful. In sum, Travelle is well worth your time and money.

Very nice, but pricey

By Al V |

Brunch was excellent and all the food was prepared perfectly. Nonetheless, $92 without drinks is on the high side.

Gluten and Diary Free: Amazing Dining Experience

By Jaclyn M |

Amazing food, experience, and ambiance! The best gluten free and diary free burger in Chicago and that I have ever had in my lifetime. They have beef and veggie burgers options; both are divine. The gluten free bread is exceptional! I have life threatening allergies and feel completely safe eating at Travelle. They take allergies very seriously and go above and beyond to make sure you are happy and enjoy the experience. One time they made me a mango, honey, vanilla bean, almond milk smoothie… it was so delicious they should put it on the menu! I can’t duplicate it. It would be a nice sweet treat for the gluten and diary clients. Travelle is located at the Langham hotel. I recommend a spa day there at Chuan spa then going to the restaurant. It creates a perfect day. As a gluten and diary free person; it’s very hard to go to a restaurant and feel satisfied. It’s so special to me that Travelle cares about allergies and being inclusive for all types of people. Thank you Travelle team and Mr. Zamora for all you do!

Won’t be back

By Mariah |

Rude , weren’t accommodating. Told us there was a 30 min wait after letting us know they were going to sit us, didn’t make any sense. We’re staying at the hotel & couldn’t eat breakfast here which is uncalled for, shouldn’t be that way but whatever we won’t be back here

Yummy food and fantastic service

By Fatima D |

This was an awesome place for a brunch get together with friends. Both sweet and savory options were delicious and the service was impeccable. The Art Deco vibe in there was a nice space to hang out in.

Excellent But Expensive Breakfast

By NCSmokey |

Travelle offers excellent food and attentive service. We had a delicious breakfast - omelets, eggs, potatoes, toast and bacon. The bacon is wonderful and plentiful. The only negative was the price.

The Epitome Of Elegance

By Philip G |

We had a wonderful breakfast at Travelle in the Langham Hotel, located on the second floor of a high-rise. The service was elegant, the space sublime, and the food delicious. While Travelle isn't cheap, you get what you pay for. It is the epitome of a five-star experience.

Very good brunch; excellent bar

By IllinoisLovetotravel |

Dined twice for brunch; a wide selection of delicious dishes. Visited the bar with friends; very interesting, extensive cocktail menu; outstanding, helpful server; great views; a lot of fun.

Excellent service and views.

By Juaninazio67 H |

Best cocktail menu I have seen. Each drink is described in full. Year created, origin, who created it and anecdotes. Very interesting. Snacks could be better

Not a great spot for brunch

By Ariz P |

We waited 2 hours to be seated and eat all together. Also it was a rainy day and not that busy. The waiter checked on us twice and they burnt our gluten free toast. For the price and service it is not worth it.

Terrific service. Limited menu

By Rosemarie C |

Located on the 2nd floor of the Langham Hotel Chicago. Excellent service. Professional hostesses. Very helpful and friendly servers. Great for breakfast. Very limited menu for lunch and dinner.

Diego was the best part of dinner

By NEURONS2 |

Travelle was aesthetically pleasing. Our server Diego was extremely knowledgeable about the food and was very engaging. He did a great job. The food was just ok especially for the price. We found the pork and honey concoction served with our bread to be akin to warm vomit. Not close to Joel Robuchon in Vegas. Would I come back perhaps

Excellent Food- Excellent Wine

By Michelle B |

I made this reservation based on reviews I'd read and was not disappointed. I used opentable to book the reservation- the restaurant called to confirm the day before. Upon arrival I was promptly greeted and seated. They offered us river views in the lounge or a seat near the open viewing style kitchen (which is behind the glass for noise & safety). We chose the cosy dining room. The service from our wait staff was superb. They addressed me by name and helped me make a wonderful wine selection as I wasn't familiar with their extensive list. I happened to be hosting 3 of my superior's from my company and they were all equally impressed. The food was amazing and perfectly portioned. We tried the chicken & waffles & gnocchi to start. Our mains were, halibut, scallops, the lamb, and the spicy chicken. Very gourmet recipes with beautiful presentation. We even ventured into the dessert menu with the chocolate brownie & the chocolate banana peanut butter creme which was delightful. I was really pleased with this find which is on the 2nd floor of the langham hotel. It's the type of place I would have expected to be packed on a Friday evening...but I felt like it was my hidden gem.

Awesome bar with fantastic drinks and service.

By Dudeinlosgatos |

Really great place for a smart cocktail. Service was excellent - cloth cocktail napkins and peanuts served with drinks. Out server Natalie was really fantastic - classy and helpful - completely knowledgeable about the drinks.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hotels have the Best Breakfast in Chicago

By GrandMasterOfTravel |

This place has some of the best breakfast items in Chicago. Take a look at the pictures to see for yourself. 5 Star hotels have the best breakfast in Chicago...Trust me, I’ve looked for years.

The view isn't all that's spectacular!

By whirlygirl921 |

The service was lovely, the ambiance was sexy and the food was very, very good. Interesting takes on the classics and served beautifully.

Banal Beauty

By Philip G |

The Langham may be my favorite hotel in Chicago. We are not staying here on this trip to Chicago, we're here for a conference on someone else's dime, but we stopped in for a couple of drinks and a pre dinner bite. The room is beautiful, with a great view. The drink list is extensive, and the cocktails strong. The loss of five stars is due to the gorgeous looking, but vapid staff, more into posing with each other, than helping the patrons. The manager isn't hiring them for their gregarious nature and serving prowess. The staff looked more like the chorus line for the show "Chicago," than people working at a bar in Chicago. I expected a leather pant, chain smoking, Bob Fosse to walk in yelling at the gathered staff, "Let's go people. Let's see those kicks." The patrons were an after thought compared to their own narcissism. Yet, this is a great splurge spot, reminiscent of Malibu, Santa Monica, and Brentwood. Carl Sandburg's "City of Big Shoulders" was nowhere to be found. Two glasses of wine, two cocktails, meatballs and bread equaled $100.00. A bargain for such a display of banal beauty.

Quick Drinks

By Damals1913 |

Stayed at the Langham and had drinks at Travelle while waiting for friends. The drinks were pricey but worth it. Great presentation and taste. I liked the view and there was great energy in the space.

Terrific Breakfast

By Mark P |

This is a first rate hotel restaurant. The setting is a classic and beautiful Midcentury Modern space. Service is very good, and so too was my omelet.

Best Breakfast and no wait!

By Ria V |

Decided to try this restaurant. Didn't want to leave the hotel and wait 2 hours for breakfast. Even if you're not staying at the Langham, breakfast here is excellent! Service is excellent! Had steaks (cooked perfectly and very tender), pancakes (delicious!) and toast. Coffee is great!

Fabulous experience!

By Kate H |

We had a fabulous evening here, and my only regret is that I was jetlagged and couldn't manage to find room for desert! Lovely setting, very modern. We were greeted by our waiter with two glasses of bubbly to celebrate our wedding anniversary, how kind! Food was amazing, there were some really interesting flavour combinations, and I really wish I could have eaten more. We were even served a cupcake with a Happy Anniversary message on it after our meal, but our kind waiter boxed it up for me. I really enjoyed it for breakfast the next morning!!! I'm a huge cupcake fan and I must say it was one of the best I've had. Worth the money. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Amazing Experience. Quality Restaurant

By Carmen_SanDiego87 |

Everything from parking (valet) down to the complimentary gift (birthday) was pleasant. We used a travelzoo voucher and were accommodated graciously. The Hostess and Servers went above and beyond to provide remarkable service. We enjoyed the Market Price Fish (Snapper) and were delightfully surprised at the presentation and quality of the food. We were provided two champagne glasses to celebrate my mother's birthday and even a dessert at the closure of our meal. I would highly recommend for all to enjoy.

Very good food with a great view of Chicago River

By Annaline |

Although kind of pricey it was very good experience with a great view of Chicago River. Staff: impeccable.

Dined here on a few occasions

By emiko_992 |

I've spent a birthday and anniversary here and both were great. Food is above average and seafood is very fresh. The service at dinner is wonderful. I will say I love the whimsy wine selections. The sommelier was very friendly and helped us choose a "fun" wine.

GREAT BAR-BAR NONE

By Ted1348 |

On a recent business trip I visited the bar at Travelle on three consecutive evenings. These are the reasons that you should visit : 1. Bar tenders par excellence- take their recommendations. 2. Atmosphere 5 stars- relaxing, lighting perfect 3. Bar food so good- appetizers I would recommend are the crab-avocado toast or the shrimp tostada ( see pictures below) 4. Dress code- mostly business casual but jeans OK as well. So no real set dress code. 5. You can have dinner at the bar as well- off of the main restaurant menu- which I did one night. 6. Fine wine and spirit list ! 7. As a solo traveler you can meet interesting people at the bar and have a nice conversation. Really you can not go wrong at this fine bar. A GREAT BAR-BAR NONE!

Very classy dining

By Gino & Tracy |

Location / Atmosphere 5/5 Located inside the Langham Hotel in downtown Chicago. The restaurant is not on the ground floor, I believe it is on the third floor if I'm remembering correctly. So if you're not staying at the hotel you can't access it directly from the street. The interior is dimly lit with a very classy ambiance. Think dark wood panelling with nice tables and booths with a lot of space. The kitchen has transparent glass so you can see right inside and it's spotless. It's great for a date or romantic dinner with your partner. Food 5/5 We got the burrata and apples to start, WOW - it's amazing! The pic is a bit hard to see because they spiral apples on top. It comes with some apple puree and hunks of sweet and savory pumpkin. I couldve ate 3 as my meal My wife got the cacio e pepe and I got the pork belly. Both were great. Service 4.5/5 Very good service, very friendly and informative. Value 4/5 The food is very good but it's on the pricier side which is understandable given the venue and the quality. If your willing to spend a bit more for a great meal, I highly recommend Travelle.

holiday afternoon tea

By yoaggie |

this time we are trying the afternoon tea at Langham for the holiday. it looked so beautiful, very nice cozy feel. our server was great, very attentive, he explained menu items and different kind of tea he recommended. Food tasted great, enjoy SO much.... Even though is pricy, only once a year celebration is worth it

Great Afternoon Tea

By Louise C |

Beautiful classy setting geared towards a modern design. Food was great but not your tradition sandwiches. They do have a children's menu that includes PBJ . The servers were very professional. Top service.

Fine Dinner Experience

We were staying in the hotel and we did not feel like going out to eat, so we tried Travelle. We were not disappointed. We did not have a reservation but they seated us at a nice table. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the calamari appetizer. My wife also greatly enjoyed the two old fashions that she drank during the meal.

Fine cocktail lounge

By Culture Vulture 60657 |

3 couples gathered in the 2nd floor cocktail lounge prior to a wedding reception in the hotel, needing a drink or two and some snacks to hold us until the festivities began. The view over the Chicago River is a fine one, the service was cordial and helpful and both the drinks and food were very tasty and attractively presented. My drink, called Midnight Train to Portland, consisting mainly of pinot noir and espresso, was one of the best I've had. There was also an extensive beer and wine menu.

Not worth it

By LaurenE161 |

NYE menu was extremely overpriced, portions of each course were so small, my husband and brother in law went to Giardonos after because they were still hungry but had a hard time fathoming spending money on that after we just spent so much at Travelle. Service was average. EVERYTHING was average and definitely not worth the $300 bill. Super disappointed.

Worth every penny!

By Maria G |

Travelle Kitchen +Bar is worth every penny. The lavosh was unbelievable. The carbonara risotto was great. My mother had the lime thyme chicken and greatly enjoyed it. The champagne was amazing. The rigatoni was spicy. The squash soup was great.

Two lovely dinners at Travelle

By NewPlaceFan |

We stayed at the Langham, where this restaurant is located, and we ended up eating here two of our three nights. The service is excellent, including the waitress we had the first night, who guided us through the menu and options and our waiter from the second night, who remembered us from our first visit. The BEST dish is the octopus starter. Wow! Ranks in our top ten dishes at restaurants anywhere. We also had the prosciutto flatbread, which I really liked, and the shrimp ceviche appetizer, which was ok. Among the entrees we tried were the steak, which was good and the cod, which was very good. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and had a great variety of flavors. It has a bit of sweetness, though, so if you aren't a fan of sweet with your meat, this isn't the dish for you. We also ordered the "fish for two" which isn't terribly large, so only get this if your two people have light appetites. Ask for a full wine list because the one on the menu is just a small portion of what they have. Finally, the dessert list is fairly limited. The bread pudding was fine, the apple tatin was not great, and the "choux donut" is the best choice of those we tried. I just wish they had a few more choices. Finally, you may want to look at the menu before you arrive so you know the prices. It's a high-end restaurant, and the prices follow accordingly. If we are in the area again, we will definitely be back. It was a great experience.

Coming back to “home”

By LadyBrit1 |

It is touching that the staff remember your names despite being gone for a year. The Travelle at the Langham is a wonderful restaurant with consistently great food and superb service. The new empanadas were so yummy, perfectly cooked and the Piccadillo perfect. The risotto was so delicious and freshly prepared. No matter where we travel this restaurant and this hotel is our Chicago Home Away From Home

Not the greatest breakfast

By X-rays-on-the-go |

We tried Travelle on our last day in Chicago. I was surprised to find that they only had a la carte. A hot breakfast with pastry and coffee was $37 which I thought was a bit steep as most places offer a buffet at that price . The food was nice enough but not the best I have had. There was a diner across the road which had bigger portions which were tastier for less. Love the hotel (see other review ), but not the breakfast . As a bar the night before , again I was surprised to find wine we got 5 drinks, we didn’t get any hits or just a nibble like most places.

A beautiful restaurant, with great food and service, too little known.

By Ellen A |

We took advantage of a Travelzoo deal for this restaurant during a trip to Chicago, so the value was ridiculously good--because the restaurant was fabulous. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff was remarkably helpful and thoughtful, and the food was wonderful. Though the waiter's description of the Nigerian prawns as "about as big as your forearm" was a little alarming, I tried them--and they were amazing, a little like lobster forked out of their shells, with lemon butter. My sister, who'd been there before with a large party, said the menu was completely different from what it had been then (also great, apparently). She ordered the asiago bread w/honeycomb and the crispy potatoes for all of us, unnecessarily, but they were very good. She had the shrimp and pepper-rice dish (and loved it), and my husband had a chicken dish w/savory bread pudding (& instead of the squash listed on the menu, various beans and peas, which he preferred). I wanted the "crispy duck confit" but they were out, sadly, having had a run on the weekend and no way to get more on Labor Day. The place was really beautiful (as were, oddly enough, the bathrooms), but strangely sparsely filled, which may have to do with where they are--somewhat hard to find, in the Langham Hotel, across from the looming Trump Hotel (ugh) in a more out of the way area. A really good restaurant, with an emphasis on seafood, with a wonderful atmosphere, should be better known.

OMG!

By Hawthorn1Chicago |

Had the most incredible Easter Brunch last weekend! Everything from decor to food to service was outstanding! Even the bunny was great! Could not have enjoyed a better experience. Definitely a real treat for the whole family as you will not get this quality anywhere else in Chicago.

The New Travelle

By DNARNA2014 |

Having heard a new chef took over, we tried lunch at Travelle while staying at the Langham. We tried the octopus and pork belly -- exquisite -- and shared the adobo mahi mahi sandwich. We liked the taste but the adobo was very spicy hot (and we can take hot, growing up on Malaysian and Indian curries etc). Service was excellent.

Bar was great

By chvodicka@gmail.com |

The bartenders were outstanding and very helpful. I am studying mixology and they were very helpful and accomodating.

nice place at the Langham hotel

By markokbelgrade |

I liked my early dinner at this place. Staff is excellent, place is super clean and well equipped, try it. My dish was not excellent but still better than in many other places.

Not just a meal, but an experience! Fine dining just became fun again!

By _brhinri |

The staff at Travelle had Table #40 ready for us, they even knew my wife liked Pinot Noir and had her glass ready and by the time dinner had ended we had new friends with Claire (Operations Manager) , Naomi (Server), Rachel (Manager), Chef Ricardo (Executive Chef), and Chef Jose (Sous Chef). All of these folks did a super job coordinating with the Langham hotel (above the restaurant) to attend to our dining and taste needs, to visit with us re. our experience, and even to providing food recommendations as the Chefs came out and visited with us and autographed our menu! The crab toast and tenderloin tartare appetizers were fantastic and actually a meal in themselves. Our main courses, butternut squash pasta w/sausage and chicken breasts w/potatoes and sauce were customized to not be too spicy and to appeal to our tastes while complementing the Brussel sprout side dish. All was executed superbly and supplemented by an extensive wine list. Our thanks to the staff at Travelle for making our night out one to remember! The restaurant, as well as the hotel, are excellent at “managing the first impression” as well as delivering on promises – a wonderful meal during a wonderful stay. We, my wife and I, would recommend to anyone in Chicago to take the short trip to the Mies building across from Trump Tower to experience both Travelle and the Langham. Dr. Brian and Becky Hinrichs, Watseka, IL.

Top notch

By Moe |

We had a late lunch at Travelle and it was fabulous. The prosecco was reasonable and delicious and everything we ate was top notch. The food was fresh, perfectly balanced and delicious. Every person that we encountered was helpful, kind and went the extra mile to make our experience perfect. Lately our dining experiences have left us unimpressed. Not today! We can't wait to return!

Average breakfast/brunch

By Samantha P |

Food was ok, but pricey in my opinion for what you get. Scrambled Eggs on the breakfast buffet, no omelettes. Server was very nice, but slow to relieve used plates and refill water glass. Guess we should have ordered off the menu, at the buffet looked good. Bloody Mary was probably the best thing.

Bar Service was Excellent, Restaurant Service was Terrible

By DAJensen |

We dined both for dinner on a Saturday night and brunch on Sunday. Service was not very good for either. On Saturday night we had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. The pace of the meal was going fine until we were offered a complimentary cup of soup. After that, it took forever to get our entrees. The kitchen must have gotten backed up with room service orders or something because prior to that it was fine. On Sunday, we didn't have a reservation. We stood at the host stand for quite some time waiting to be acknowledged and seated. The hostess saw us because she seated the group in front of us, but then she went and talked to some other employees, for quite some time, by the kitchen. When our waitress arrived, we asked about the brunch buffet that was set up in the lounge. She indicated that they would be taking it down shortly, even though it remained up until almost the time we left. We had a simple order - a yogurt parfait, a breakfast sandwich, eggs and chicken sausage and a waffle, with coffee. The coffee was $5 each and we were never offered a refill until we were ready to leave. The food took a long time and when it finally arrived, the chicken sausage was cold and raw and the waffle wasn't part of the order. Prices are high and service is slow. We did stop in the lounge on Friday and Saturday nights and service there was friendly and efficient.

A must "go to" restaurant in Chicago

By seibo2830 |

What a delightful find Travelle Kitchen + Bar was, with great views of the river and city from the second floor of The Langham Hotel. The three year old restaurant welcomed a new chef earlier this year and the menu has some real ingenious dishes. We started with an appetizer of asparagus which was plenty for two to share. We both had the lamb shank which was delicious made all the better by the absolutely divine by the Crispy New Potatoes dish with harissa aïoli, chorizo, and scallions. To die for! My compliments to the sommelier who not only had my favorite champagne on their wine list, Pierrer Jouet but also recommended the most amazing Portuguese red wine, Rol de Coisas Antigas. Superb and absolutely delightful. The staff were great - very detail oriented and very accommodating to food allergies and intolerance. I can't say enough about what a good experience this was. And they cater for children! Being in a hotel of course there would be families staying there and the table next to us had two young children who were very well treated. Worth every star it's given.

Breakfast just so-so

By Amy R |

We were guests at the Langham and the restaurant doesn't rise to the high quality of the hotel. While we stayed several nights we only ate at the restaurant for breakfast once. The service is slow despite there being several people on the floor. The food is good but not worth the high end price.

Birthday Dining with Rochelle

By Leonard G M |

Birthday Dining with Rochelle @ Travelle Kitchen + Bar, 330 N Wabash Ave, 2nd Floor Chicago, IL, 60611 We arrived to valet parking. Up to the 2nd floor space that have been transformed from the IBM cafeteria to elegant space for dining with a wine selections for well developed palate. We were warmly greeted with a smile, and the evening started the journey to where all would be well please with smile, service, and surrendering to our palate’s extravaganza. The 1st course started with an aray of items that included deep fried octopus with shaded figs (nduja kabocha squash beignet, fig, olive, meyer lemon) and we opted out of beignet because of pig; the carrot soup with ginger, thyme, ramp butter, crème fraîche, focaccia croutons. This was creme fraîche accompanied with toasted pumpkin seeds. The soup was finger lickin’ good. 2nd course were just very timely and tasteful. Neat and firm the Cobia was pan seared and finished in the oven top with sauce on half. It was plated with an assortment of roasted cauliflowers (various color). This included cauliflower, chives, pumpkin vadouvan curry crème fraîche. The other 2nd course was the Tunisian rack of lamb. This chops were like butter, and the favor were bones cleaning. This included baby carrots, hazelnut vinaigrette, sheep’s milk yogurt Our 3rd course was a Blue Cheese wedge salad with fried egg, tomato, avocado, green goddess. Yesssssssss that was just very good. House spun ice creams was provided and we selected vanilla, peppermint, and banana; the was 3 scoops. The was 1 scoop of vanilla tahini. The evening was completed because of Kodjo, Nancy, Matt, Chef Tyler, and front of house manager Marc Silenceieux. This was like a place the roll out great food, great service, kindness and grace..... We are back again dining; we will return soon. We were there for about 2:58 on a Tuesday evening. They help us put on our coats and they press the button to call for the vertical carriage (elevator) to exit the 2nd floor. The valet open and closed both car doors, and we departed. Woooow. Delightfully Delectable Afternoon Tea at The Langham

By 87Carolann15 |

Of all the wonderful places Chicago has to take tea, The Langham Hotel is my favorite to wile away a few hours catching up with friends and enjoying the relaxing ritual of afternoon tea. The bright, airy and modern lobby "tearoom" is elegant, gracious, comfortable and welcoming with a lovely view of the city and river. The servers are knowledgable and create a warm & friendly atmosphere that allows you to savor a variety of teas and impeccably crafted tea savories and sweets. The menu changes seasonally. Just had the opportunity to experience the first day of their Autumn tea. My friend and I marveled at the flavors of the season in each meticulously created savory, light flavorful scones and dazzling pastries. The Langham Chicago has brought the very best of the cherished British afternoon tea tradition across the pond.

Chic, Modern, Amazing Downtown/River Views!

By taylor v |

The Travelle bar at the Langham Chicago is a beautiful spot with great vibes, unbelievable service, breathtaking downtown/river views and fun seasonal drink menus. I have been a few times, but last night's happy hour with co-worker friends turned into an entire evening with apps and desserts too, as we were just having too nice of a time to leave. Our waitress also remembered us from the last time we were in (months ago...) and was very helpful, nice and attentive. I look forward to bringing friends and family here when they come visit over the holidays!!

Very, very good food and service

Travelle Kitchen

By hrjoseph |

I enjoyed sitting by the window and looking outside during dinner. Service was really good. I didn't think they had a great selection on the menu and the food was o.k. but not fantastic.

Not quite what we expected

By Alyson R |

We had a staycation at The Langham over the weekend. We have been to the bar side of Travelle many times and also visited there on Friday. We were served by Madison who was excellent. The ambiance, drinks and service are amazing. Unfortunately, the dining side was a disappointment. I read somewhere that it was ranked one of the top 15 romantic restaurants in Chicago. My husband and I dressed for the occasion...me in a dress and heels, him in a sportcoat and slacks. We were taken to our table by the bar back area and noticed several patrons in hoodies, jeans and gym shoes. The music was deafening and the place was very loud - not really screaming romance. I will say the food was good, but the prices did not match the experience. Very expensive for the atmosphere. We will definitely be back for drinks but will probably pass on a meal.

Late lunch

By LosAngelesDada |

I needed to grab lunch before heading to the airport and decided to stop at the restaurant at the Langham since I was staying there. The food and service were fantastic and I would definitely return. It's on the second floor so some views face parking garages but it's on the river so that's a nice view.

Enchanting Dining

By llomonte |

The service was stellar. The staff were very welcoming & made every effort to accommodate our special dietary needs. We are going back in a few weeks & are really looking forward to it. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, & quite relaxing

Excellent Afternoon Tea at the Langham Chicago

By ambercat2015 |

I hesitated to book the tea given some negative reviews on Trip Advisor about the food. Our experience was excellent, however! I came with my 27 year old daughter on a mother-daughter trip. We booked the basic (not enhanced) tea experience. The sparkling wine was excellent, the quality of the food was very good, and there was more than enough to satisfy us both for lunch. Very good and varied little sandwiches started the experience, followed by wonderful little pastries and excellent scones. Four little sandwiches and four little pastries, plus two full scones per person. Scones were served with clotted cream, lemon curd, and strawberry (raspberry?) preserves. Quality of the tea was excellent and the choice was extensive. Serving staff were very friendly. Room is lovely, elegant, peaceful. Live piano music was an unexpected treat. We spent a very relaxing two hours before heading for the airport to catch our flight out, a great end to our trip.

Very tasty brunch in a super cheerful atmosphere

By Heidi g |

Hubby and I had brunch here this past Saturday and the food and service were amazing! He had the multi-grain waffles with a side of avocado and apple sausage, while I had the Brioche toast with a side of the most delectable bacon every! I also had a glass of the fresh squeezed OJ. Our meals came with pure maple syrup and berries and cream. Our server was attentive and courteous. The food was presented well and very warm. The place is tastefully decorated, bright and cheerful. Highly recommend this place for brunch.

Limited menu

By TravelFan48105 |

Our dining experience at Travelle was a mixed bag because choices are limited, especially if you do not eat meat. The ambiance is sophisticated with an open kitchen and a clean, uncluttered look. We had a large booth that seated five persons comfortably. The service was pretty good though it was a little confusing as there were several servers. Concerning the menu, we were not aware in advance that there would be meat/bacon in so many dishes, even in the butter for the asiago bread. The crispy brussels sprout dish contains bacon, the burrata (cheese) is served with guanciale, the seared cod is served with ' nduja, the sweet potato soup with pork rinds, the gnocci with merguez, caesar salad with pancetta, etc. I won't belabor this, but I think you get the idea - meat, especially pork, ingredients are in the majority of the dishes. My meal consisted of vegetable sides and they were pretty good, especially the carrots. The sweet potato soup (minus the pork rinds) was lightly curried and delicious. But overall I was disappointed by the limited choices for the vegetarian eater. We shared two good desserts, the choux donuts (with blueberry compote and buttermilk ice cream) and the apple tatin (OK). Prices are high, about $70 per person including alcoholic drinks (before tip).

Great Pre-theater Experience

By CarolePT |

We stayed at the Langham over Labor Day Weekend, but as we stayed on the club floor we did not experience Travelle. As we will no longer go to Petterino's prior to our Goodman plays, we decided to dine here. We started the evening in the lounge with the wonderful city and river views. The cocktail menu was amazing and the servers helped us with selections that we thoroughly enjoyed. We then dined in the restaurant. I wish the views there were as great as the lounge and decor seemed a little casual for the food and prices. Our waiter, Caesar, and other staff were wonderful and added to the experience. Since we ordered the red snapper for two, he brought us the octopus appetizer as he thought we would enjoy it while waiting for the fish to be prepared. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and experience. We will definitely return.

thanksgiving buffet

Brunch at the Langham

By travelforspecialfood |

I was taken back that the Langham could offer such an unpleasant dining experience twice in one day. We were entertaining a friend and spoke highly of visiting the Langham. We all ordered the $39 Buffett from the Travelle Kitchen and Bar of which 4 main items were empty-eggs,waffles,potatoes and bacon. I would consider these staples of a breakfast buffet. We were told they already knew they were empty and it would be awhile but they would alert us when they could replenish. When they replenished 20 min later there were no words of apologies or any suggestions of caring about the situation. During this 4 other people from a different party were in disbelief as well. I expected more from the Langham in regards to their creativity in their brunch menu. My bad for not looking ahead at the selections. The buffet is exactly what you would be receiving at any conference - generic and plain, however at a conference they would take the time or have a point person look to make sure the food items are filled. I thought maybe it was just bad timing and a bad day for the Langham. I went back that night with a friend for a night cap only to receive okay service and sat down and ordered drinks. Drinks came and were set down on the dirty table from the people before. I ended up brushing the pieces of food away myself. I sat across from the bar and looked at what must have been 30 dirty glasses of all shapes and sizes. Is this really what you want your patrons to see? Behind us a gentleman was complaining about his food and that it was not up to his expectations. I hope that the Langham can try to get it together and create a creative brunch menu, train your staff, care about your guests and begin acting and caring like what I know a five star hotel should be like. I will not be recommending this to any of my friends nor will I be booking a stay with you but I wish you luck in fixing some of these issues.

Average food and arrogant service

By RoteFuchs |

Travelle is the restaurant at the Langham Hotel and the management and some staff members seems to be so full of themselves that they have forgotten they are there for the guests. The restaurant style is fine but nothing special, the prices are high and the food is very average. But on top of that the management of the restaurant has an attitude that makes you want not to come back.

Great cocktails based on the Art Institute's collection

By mainereason |

I came here with colleagues after one of us had this bar recommended to her at an architecture boat tour. The guide had commented that it's a mad men type place. While it's certainly that time period, it's not at all dark and cozy. The travelle is in a van der Rohe building, which was originally built for IBM. The bar is on the 2nd floor, with a gorgeous view of the river. I recommend coming here for a drink at night, when the bar is gorgeously lit. The service is phenomenal. Our server was invested in making sure we had a great experience. She explained the cocktails and had great recs based on what liquors we told her we liked. A very loud group of men came in and we found it difficult to talk. Our server was very kind when we asked to be moved to another location so that we could still keep our conversation. It's definitely not the proper location for a boisterous celebration but more of a place to appreciate a moment and celebrate between a few people.

Terrific dinner and breakfast!

By JRSTravel |

Lovely dining venue on second floor of Langham Hotel, food and service superb at both dinner and breakfast. Dinner is American with interesting spins, breakfast can be either ala carte or buffet. All good!

Good Food, Service OK

By gumshoe7 |

Came here with 2 friends for breakfast. Food was fine, but I did not really feel that well taken care of by the staff.

breakfast buffet is superb, bar is excellent

By robin d |

we stayed at the langham for five days. their weekend breakfast was excellent and we spent a few nights before dinner having a drink at the bar--it was reasonably priced for a hotel bar and the service was excellent

Good dishes, but lacking the final touch

By anit D |

We had dinner here on a quiet Sunday evening. Before we ate at travelle, we had drinks at the hotel bar. The different cocktails we tried were all very good. The waitress was attentive and charming. You can enjoy beautiful views from the bar and the restaurant. The dishes at the restaurant were also all very tasty and well prepared. Service was friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar were extremely cool and over airconditioned, not comfortable. The last finesse you would expect at a pricey restaurant like this was missing though...

Perfect!

By sotojohn99 |

Try the Tomahawk steak. The presentation was excellent and the Brussel sprouts and pork belly dish was fantastic.

Very Nice Restaurant

By Mark P |

I had dinner and breakfast. The food was quite good and the setting is a beautiful MidCentury Modern room. Service for breakfast was excellent, while my waiter at dinner was pleasant, though slow and inattentive. All in all, though, this is a fine dining choice.

Wonderful Bar, wonderful service

By Jess W |

Visited with business colleagues for dinner and cocktails. The service was fantastic and such a great vibe. Thank you Grace for looking after us, definitely recommend!

Fantastic view, great food and atmosphere

By Betsy C |

While staying at the Langham, we decided to try the in-house restaurant and were blown away. Great, creative menu and excellent service combined to make an exceptional dining experience. The view of downtown Chicago is breathtaking. The Griddle Brioche Toast with macerated berries and honeyed ricotta was divine. My husband had the pancakes one morning and the waffle on another visit, both were outstanding. This is a beautiful restaurant.

Beautiful room, Good food

By SchnauzerBridget |

Our vacationing party of 4 dined here for dinner on a Saturday of a holiday weekend. I let Open Table find me a reservation since I neglected to do that in advance. It was a very good chance reservation. The room is very beautiful, especially the lounge overlooking the river. Our menu selections were delicious. As another reviewer noted, the menu is limited, yet sometimes that allows for concentrating quality on a smaller number of offerings. The portions are large so our party shared several small plates and one entree. A bonus visit to our table from Chef Ricardo made the meal even more exceptional.

Excellent breakfast!

By bugsy554 |

Well you know going in the prices are going to be high. $6 coffee $8 avocado etc. but the eggs Benedict and other food was outstanding. So for two normal breakfasts and two coffees with tax and tip was $74 - just to give you a price point idea. But the food was outstanding!

Good Service, Food Just Okay

By Walter O |

Group of 16 had dinner and the appetizer (bruschetta) was excellent. But the rest of the meal was just okay and not memorable. The hanger steak was tough but the roasted carrots were nice. The chocolate cake was dry and not good so a very disappointing way to end the meal. The service was good. There are so many better choices.

Citrus Cloud to Die For!

By Kurt H |

We had a Wagyu burger which was quite well flavorful! But.....Citrus Cloud Dessert was amazing with a variety of flavors! The only caution is that it would not be for someone who wants sticky sweet or heavy desserts. It has wonderfully contrasting flavors. This dessert was soooooo good, we'd 100% re-re-return just for dessert if we lived in Chicago!

Thanksgiving buffet was wonderful!

By Frank M |

We were here for the Thanksgiving buffet, and it was great. There was around 17 different stations, so everyone in our group found lots of things to try. Service was excellent.

We are breakfast there twice

By Christine P |

We are breakfast there twice while staying at the Langham. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was very good and on par with what we expected.

Not Impressed

By Michael B |

Did not enjoy our dinner at this restaurant. The cocktail I ordered called I'm Avocontrol, with gin and avocado and raspberry and mint and chocolate bitters was disgusting. What was I thinking? The waiter's accent was so strong he was essentially unintelligible. He couldn't explain anything on the menu. The portions were small and expensive and the food unmemorable. The dining room was quiet and attractive, though. I would not recommend this place.

Wow - wasn't expecting to be this happy

By TauntonInternational |

Booked in for dinner after an event because the reviews were good and it was in the hotel. We were blown away. The menu is small, but perfectly curated and the service was excellent. Our host was able to give advice on the dishes and was pretty funny. To start, we tried the Hamachi crudo and the sweet English pea tortellini - both set a high bar, and the tortellini was like eating spring; great flavours. We chose the lamb and the steak as entrees - the sous vide lamb prep was perfect. Dessert blew us away! We shared the blackberry sorbet with lemon pepper ice cream and meringue - truly wow. The addition of micro basil was genius. Highly recommended!

Delicious food, Great Views

By SarahPU |

Enjoyed a quick bite with colleagues staying at the Langham. I decided to try one of the chef’s favorites. My Icelandic cod was delicious and just the right amount. One colleague loved his cauliflower soup and meatballs. The second enjoyed the scallops for her meal. Both also enjoyed their ice cream desserts. The restaurant is on the pricey side, but the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Awesome Breakfast

By TorxPlus |

Located on the 2nd floor of the Langham Hotel, this place delivered one of the best breakfasts we’ve had. Everything is well thought out and of superior quality. My wife said the pancakes were the best she’s ever had in her life! A bit pricey but this kind of quality is worth it.

First and last time

By Mary L |

For a good night out of fasting, order anything. Not kidding. Start with the wedge salad that has at least 20 ingredients, which isn't spelled out on the menu. Or get the sub-standard steak that will leave you spitting gristle on to your plate. The short rib was drowning in sauce. And the side dishes of asparagus, green beans, and potatoes had no flavor and were overcooked. No serious, we mean this in a negative way. The server and the sommelier were great and the wine was reasonably priced. They comped the steaks and green beans. But the full "value" of the meal was over $400. It was a "memorable" 5th wedding anniversary dinner. :-(

excellent cuisine

By stuart q |

We dined here in the restaurant attached to the Langham hotel, which itself is in the iconic building designed by the renowned architect Mies van der Rohe. The menu was a tad limited, but nonetheless the quality of the food was very impressive with delightful combinations of flavours and tastes. The service was equally impressive with humorous, friendly, and efficient staff. Thoroughly recommended

Christmas Brunch 2016

By Leonard G M |

We had brunch from 2:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. Our parking time was up. The place was well appointed and the staff was great. The jollification was over the top. The time spend was well worth it. The place was not a God desert. There was five type of salmons for the badge and creamed cheese, root vegetables were plentiful. The seafood ooooooh. The duck was again veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. This is our place at Christmas. We renewed relationship with the Ponder sisters.... Shalom

Restaurant week!

By Ruths4 |

We Love, Love, Love Travelle. It never disappoints. The restaurant week menu seemed a little bland, but hey, this Travelle so we chanced it. It was wonderful! And very reasonably priced. That's what we like about this place, it is always surprising you with its subtlety and simply great food.

Great for a nice evening in

By Wicked04 |

I dined at Travelle Kitchen for dinner on a Thursday night with my wife. The restaurant is well situated close to the lobby area and was very clean and well decorated. It was not overly busy with what seemed like a few business meetings going on, and little actual hotel guests. We ordered the octopus, gnocchi, and caesar salad to start. All were very good and light, however heavy on salt. My wife ordered the cod fish off the menu but we were advised they had none left, a bit disappointing. They did offer to make the exact same dish but with another white fish, which we accepted as a replacement. Overall a nice meal in a calm atmosphere. Service was on par with expectations, prices were as expected in such a hotel, and would dine again if not looking to venture outside.

What a Pleasant Surprise

By mookie61 |

This is a great spot, especially for those staying in the hotel. The bar is wonderful- though it can get loud. But the dining room was a revelation. The menu is limited- but everything on it is quite fresh and well prepared. The wine list is similarly not vast- but is thoughtfully curated. Service was excellent- and she had a very in depth knowledge of both the wine list and the menu. Btw- the kitchen had no problems accommodating some of our group that didn't eat meat.

Birthday Breakfast

Outstanding restaurant for a weekend breakfast celebration! I had the buffet which was delicious and beautiful. They even had a build you own smoothie which was fun and different. My wife ordered baked eggs from the menu and was really impressed. The staff was excellent just like the rest of the Langham employees. I would highly recommend just spending the money and enjoy Travelle! You will not be disappointed.

Staycation 2018

By ekaihatsu |

Our last breakfast at the Traveler restaurant, the waiter introduced himself and asked if we were ready. We weren't, then he said someone else would be our waiter. I thought his shift was ending but he was still there working other tables. We ordered a side of sausage for my daughter and we had to ask for it 3 times before it finally came.

Fantastic breakfasts

By Jonathan L |

My family was staying at the Langham hotel for the weekend and had breakfast here twice. Though a little bit pricey (but not out of line for a 5-star hotel restaurant), they did have a kids menu, and the service was solicitous and prompt. The food was top notch: I had the bruschetta eggs, which I've never even heard of before, and they were wonderful, as were my wife's skillet eggs, and my son's french toast.

Nightcap in the bar

By Soymoosemom |

Very good hotel bar with nice seating around the room, and comfortable stools surrounding the bar on all four sides. Wednesday night and it was pretty busy. The bartender was friendly with good recommendations. We settled for a Moscow mule and something similar to a lemon drop. Very good but pricey. But it is a hotel bar in a five star hotel with good atmosphere. Glad we tried it.

Outstanding!

Located in a landmark Mies van der Rohe building, Travelle is located on the 2nd floor of the Langham Hotel. It's elegant & very contemporary with stunning Chicago river views. Three of us went for dinner on a Friday night. The bar & the bar area, which was crowded, is situated in the corner of the building with sweeping city views. Before we even tasted a thing, we all said that we would come back to check out the bar. The dining room was a little loud due to the music from the bar area, but it wasn't awful. The drink menu is inventive, & we enjoyed tasting a few of them :) We ordered quite a bit of food because so much of it looked good. We weren't wrong either. Most of it was divine! Dishes were interesting, plated beautifully, & delicious! The service was very good as well. While it's on the pricy side, it is worth every penny for atmosphere, inventiveness, beauty & taste :)

Mismatched restaurant in luxury hotel

By Kim and Jim B |

We've stayed at the Langham several times, and Travelle's brunch has been one of the best in the city. We waited to have breakfast until we could get the brunch buffet, only to find out that the morning we were there was the first time they weren't doing the buffet at all, just entrees. They were much more lunch focused, and we wished we had just gone for the breakfast menu earlier. I had the bacon croissant, which was inedibly sweet. Kim had the maitake mushroom, but had to order eggs extra since it doesn't come with anything else, just the mushroom. Despite being one of the only people in the room, our service was unbearably slow. When we got the bill, the wines we got were much more than advertised on the menu. It took forever to try to change the bill. Instead of changing the wines to the prices on the menu, they just said they would apply our 1865 club discount. But shouldn't we have gotten that anyway? So we still paid the wrong prices. We got there at 11am with a 1pm checkout. With the slow service and then trying to correct the bill that was never correct, we left at 1:15, getting locked out of our room. We had to call security to let us back in our room to try to check out. The restaurant service is completely different from the hotel. We should have just gotten breakfast room service instead.

Dinner at the bar, a discriminating experience

By Taylor B |

Have you ever had dinner at the bar? In one of Chicago's most luxurious restaurants? This was a first-time experience for us. Why did we decide to do it? It seemed like the thing to do at the time. It all began when I read a food critic's survey of the best chicken pot pies in Chicago. The top 10 list included Travelle, the de luxe lounge and eatery on the second floor of the luxurious Langham Hotel. Located at 330 North Wabash Avenue, it offers sophisticated New American meals, sweeping views of the Chicago River and Chicago's skyline and a lounge with 30-foot digital artwork lining the wall. No matter where you sit, it is an elegant dining experience. But, alas, the menu didn't include chicken pot pie. I was informed that Travelle's current chicken option is roast chicken and warn Escarole Caesar with marble potatoes and Shabazi Marinade. As tasty as it sounds, I was assured. So my wife and I decided to enjoy dinner from a different view, the bar. You have to give two 80-year-old retirees some leeway, don't you? We started with seared Diver scallops with grits and fried green tomatoes, tomato soup and half grilled cheddar and hearts of romaine with pancetta, focaccia croutons, shaved parmesan and Caesar dressing. For an entree, my wife chose roasted King salmon. I couldn't resist a Travelle burger, an eight-ounce Wagyu patty with cheddar cheese, bacon jam and pickles. A real two-fisted delight. For dessert, we shared a large slice of old-fashioned chocolate cake and a spiced apple Crostada with vanilla ice cream.

Very well done for hotel dining

Food, service, room ambiance and outside view make this a nice oasis when it’s cold and snowing outside....

Quality time, excellent cuisine, great bar experience.

By MLXV |

Perfect lunchtime. Awarding top marks, even though (note to Management) the heavenly cuisine clashes with mediocre/sloppy quality of service in the restaurant. The bar experience was much better later on - (I noticed I wasn't the only one who felt that way). Lunch menu is short, simple but awesome. The best seared scallops I've EVER had (highly recommend you swap the Brussels sprouts to spinach). Delicious crab toast too. Very nice selection of wines. The bar experience is divine. Comfortable seating, fantastic views, superb service and a really good cocktail selection.

Exceptional Christmas Dinner!!!

By Jewelsworld |

This was our very first Christmas in 36 years that we did not have any of our kids home to celebrate and we were a little worried about being too sad to enjoy it so we stuffed our schedule with shows and great restaurants and were happy to find that Travelle was open on Christmas. It was exactly what we needed to close out our day. We looked at the brunch but the price was far too high for half of this couple who never gets their money's worth from a brunch and doesn't drink mimosas either. But the five course price-fixed dinner looked just right and it proved to be beyond our expectations. Neither of us has ever had an oyster so it was fun to give that a try. I'm still not sure what to think as gulping it down in one swallow left very little chance at tasting it but we loved the crab claw and giant shrimp. The second course was a wonderful butternut squash and kale stuffed cannelloni with a pesto sauce. An incredible taste treat! I could have just eaten three or four of those and been happy with dinner. The main course was perfectly cooked beef tenderloin garnished with a variety of mushrooms and parsnip strips. It was served with very generous helpings of apple and hazelnut enhanced Brussel sprouts and Duck Fat Potatoes smothered in parmesan and herbs. All delicious! We were already so full that we had enough of the main left over to make an entire second meal which reheated wonderfully a couple nights later. We wanted to save room for the Sticky Toffee Pudding and that was totally worth leaving behind a few bites of tenderloin. The pudding was served with a cinnamonny Chai Ice Cream and roasted pears. I would have loved a little more toffee sauce but I am really not complaining. It was a wonderful way to top off a delicious dinner. We will definitely put Travelle high on our list of favorite Chicago restaurants!

Food was ok

By C E |

Food was ok. Service was slow and the servers acted like they didn't know who was to serve our table.

Amazing

By LaraChicago |

Second time I've had breakfast here on a trip to Chicago. Wish I could keep it in mind to try dinner. The staff is awesome and take the time to learn your name to address you as Mr. or Mrs...The breakfast food is some of the best I've ever had and they have a buffet as well as a proper menu. The dining room is soft shades of cream and white and is very calm and relaxing. There are beautiful views, on one side of the restaurant, of the river. The price is a bit high but it's in keeping with a luxury hotel in the middle of Chicago and the experience is worth it. Really have to try dinner!

Great cocktails and view

By Jeff C |

Located on the second floor (check in level) of the amazing Langham hotel, Travelle is a perfect spot for views of the river and top notch cocktails and service. Huge wine and spirit list, with creative and equally delicious cocktails. Talented mixologists with very friendly staff. Spent quite a bit of time here after walking the city sightseeing.

Happy Hour with colleagues

By Sarah K |

Our company hosted a Happy Hour at Travelle a few months ago and we all loved it so much, we made a plan to go back. There is one dish that you HAVE to get when you go - Warm Asiago Bread with whipped 'nduja and local honey - incredible! The drinks are also delightful. But what you go to the Langham for, more than the delicious food and adult bevies, is the service. Five star service all the way, for everyone. I cannot recommend this spot enough - you won't be disappointed!

Christmas brunch

By Janine Hart |

Holy cow!!! This is a brunch to put all others to shame. It is pricey, but you get oysters (blue point as well as west coast), sushi, ribeye, duck, poke, ham, salads, meat and cheese, every dessert imaginable, and so much more. Attention to detail is exquisite and it’s Christmas-so pony up the money for these folks spending their day taking care of those of us who are traveling. Thanks to all for working on Christmas!! Even had a fella making balloon toys for kids, Santa, and a band!

Lovely experience all the way around.

By ZCD |

The bar is really sharp with comfortable seating options, a cool view over the Chicago River and nice service. Our meal was excellent. We enjoyed oysters, Asiago bread (spicy! spread), their unique take on a Caesar salad, plus a bone-in ribeye and Brussels Sprouts as a side. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. The view into the glass-walled kitchen was cool and the dining room is very nice. We'd definitely call Travelle a hidden gem and will be back!

Good breakfast food but terribly expensive

By JefferyJ |

We stayed at the Langham so we went here for breakfast. The food (mushroom omelet) was quite good but terribly expensive. The atmosphere was very relaxing.

Went with a friend for Breakfast. SUPERB!

By Stan K |

Worth the trip from the suburbs into the city by car to have breakfast at the Langham. Outstanding quality food and couple that with awesome service. From the time I pulled up to the hotel was greeted and my car was taken away. Every step of the way you feel special.

Must visit. Will meet all of your expectations. Beautiful hotel and great food and drinks. The best brunch. Delicious crab benedicts.

Evening of Decadence

By GCKTB |

Frankly, we went to Travelle because it was convenient to our downtown business meeting. However, it exceeded my expectations for a business dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed my poached halibut, roasted Brussel sprouts, and brown butter cake dessert. Staff was attentive, even inquiring about any food allergies at our table.

Great ambiance and decor and good food

By Grolsh |

Went here with colleagues from a conference for dinner and it is a really cool place. The kitchen is enclosed in glass and the decor is very modern and cool. The food and drinks are very good but expensive. The drinks are also served in a very artful and fancy way. Halibut was great but a small portion. I think the best portion was the NY Strip with fries and a huge side of mushrooms. I would go back but expect to pay a nice price for your meal. Also wine selection was limited and bottles were priced up quite a bit.

Fixed Price Menu from Local Purveyors Highly Recommended

By Steve R |

I only wish I could remember my server's name. He was excellent and had great knowledge about the area. Professional and friendly service. The fixed price menu from local vendors was also excellent!

Thanksgiving Buffet

By rfg1006 |

I attended thanksgiving Buffet. I did not enjoy it at all. All food was cold with limited variety. For a high end establishment with reflective pricing, this experience was horrific. The air was stagnant which created breathing difficulty. The entire set up was not as I expected. I did not feel it was festive or matched the spirit of thanksgiving. There were no decorative touches to indicate a Thanksgiving celebration. I left as this was an extremely bad experience and I will never do it again. I was shocked to find out that the buffet was 230 dollars for a person. No wine was included. I was told by waitstaff the coffee was horrible. Not one other staff member reached out to check with my table. I have dined at many gourmet restaurants in major cities of the United States, and this does not meet minimum standards.

Great bar on the river

By #the_vacationist |

What a wonderful bar, view and place. Situated right down town in one of the premier hotels you will find this must stop place. Views are awesome. Drinks are better. But the best is the staff, specifically the bar staff! Must go! Enjoy!

come for the view, stay for the food and drinks

By Kim and Jim B |

Stayed at the Langham and got great drinks watching the Chicago River go by. So relaxing on a cold day. Had the great brunch--best value at $39 with shrimp, crab, and salmon on the cold bar. The only complaint was that our server didn't know/couldn't get the bubbly we ordered for a pretty long time, but that's just a #firstclassproblem that doesn't matter anyway. What a great space with food and drinks to match! Cheers!

Beautiful Restaurant in a Great Location

By spikepp |

Excellent service in a gorgeous setting...who knew the pizza would be so good?!?!? This is an expensive place for lunch, but for the price you get a very relaxing and fine meal.

Nice gourmet international fresh food restaurant

By ap |

I enjoyed my cold split pea cold soup and as a main dish a bransino with fresh vegetables. Excellent quality a bit small portions. For dessert, i had a dark chocolate layer cake. The espresso was also top quality.

Is Travelle the best restaurant in Chicago?

By Taylor B |

I haven't been to all of the "best restaurants" in Chicago and I don't profess to be an expert critic like the Tribune's Phil Vettel. But Travelle, with its food, service, location and ambience, has to be in the conversation. Located at 330 North Wabash Avenue, on the second floor of the posh Langham Hotel, Travelle opened in 2013 and offers breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. Remember, Travelle is downtown, next to the Chicago River, a block west of the Magnificent Mile, with a bright and shiny surrounding, wall of wines, floor-to-ceiling windows, lots of glass and brass, comfortable seating, booths and tables, a bar and lounge. Chef Jeff Vucko said his favorite dinner items are: 16-ounce prime aged bone-in ribeye with black truffle butter and confit garlic, blue cheese wedge salad with fried egg, tomato and avocado, Icelandic cod with beans and capers and loaded crispy potato with cheddar, chives and bacon. With that in mind, my wife and I ventured to Travelle to size it up. Breakfast means oatmeal, English Benedict with ham and Hollandaise sauce, multi-grain waffle with house-made granola, berries and Greek yogurt and two scrambled eggs with pork sausage, fresh fruit and fingerling potatoes. Lunch is called the Wabash Express, fast service but not fast food...sweet corn soup, Ora King Salmon poke, mixed greens, Icelandic cod, lemon herb chicken, custard cake, Grandma's chocolate cake. Dinner is as good as you'll find anywhere in the city. And with a view, too. We started with warm asiago bread, sweet corn soup and the chef's blue cheese wedge salad. For entrees, we chose Ora King salmon with roasted carrots and loaded crispy potato and the chef's recommendation, the 16-ounce ribeye with Travelle meatballs, fried green beans and loaded crispy potato. We were tempted to order the 32-ounce prime bone-in tomahawk steak and Maine lobster for two. But you don't walk out of Travelle with a doggie bag. For dessert, the banana bread pudding and pumpkin butter cake with roasted pumpkin ice cream and cranberry sorbet rated a five-star salute. Only five years old, Travelle is just beginning to make a name for itself among Chicago's best restaurants.

Delicious

By C_A_M_W717 |

The bar is beautiful and has a great selection of both wine and spirits. The pours are also pretty generous. Really well curated bar snacks. Have had both breakfast and dinner at Travelle at various times and it's always been great. There's enough variety to satisfy everyone but it's not overwhelming. Views of the river and Chicago are wonderful.

Amazing visit at the Bar

By Derya A |

Dear Langham team, I was in January in Chicago and Chicago is an amazing city. However I went with my female friend to the Langham bar after we had dinner and the location and the service was outstanding. The employees were very polite and polished, so if I had a Hotel I would offer those employees a job but unfortunately I don't have a hotel :) We had two glasses of red wine, it was I believe 39,- per glass. Could you please tell which wine it was ? I am certain it was a Bordeaux wine and it taste really nice, please tell me which wine it was. Many thanks for the great time, Best Regards, Derya

Nice food in comfortable atmosphere

Great vibe that exudes class yet is unpretentious. Food is delicious from beginning to end and service is excellent from the general Langham staff to the hostess, waiter, and busboys. Will be returning.

Food food everywhere

By janhad |

OH MY GOD!!! So much food. The Mother’s Day brunch buffet was the best I’ve ever been to. From the carved ribeye to the taco bar to the raw seafood station, everything was delicious. Service was excellent. Music was soft and soothing. Definitely worth the visit.

High tea is unmatched at The Langham

By SRCML |

My husband and I have gone to high tea at The Langham 3 times now. We've had high tea at The Drake and there is no comparison. The Langham itself is a beautiful escape and high tea is no exception. We've taken visiting guests each high tea, it's a unique and sophisticated thing to with friends. The Langham staff is so professional and knowledgeable, you're in highly capable hands. The room is quiet, unlike The Drake. They usually have a piano player during tea which crates an even better atmosphere. The tea selection is amazing and each tea is so vastly different. The tea sandwiches are carefully made and beautiful to look at. They are exceptionally delicious and very unique, not your typical crustless watercress. We always drink champagne along with the teas, adding to our fun. They absolutely understand what high tea is all about and stove to make your experience a great one. We'll be back.

One Nice Dinner - One Nice Breakfast

By The_Loup_Garou |

One Nice Dinner - One Nice Breakfast In Sept, while staying at The Langham Chicago hotel, at 330 North Wabash Avenue, just north of the Chicago River, we dined at their restaurant, Travelle twice - once for dinner, and once for breakfast. Both meals were very good. I also spent a bit of time, in their lovely bar for wine one afternoon. Travelle is located on the second floor of the lovely hotel, and the space is lovely, as well. There are several seating areas, with a largish dining room, to one side, and then a sort of living room setting, near the bar (Afternoon Tea is served here), and finally the bar, itself. I also noticed a private dining area, and it looked like that table could accommodate about 8 people. For dinner, we were seated at a nice four-top, with a view of most of the main dining room, which at this early hour, was almost empty. I did, however, fill to about 40%, as the evening wore on. The room is attractive, but the uncovered butcher block tables were out of keeping with the rest of the room, at least for dinner. They worked fine for breakfast the next day though. Several walls are wine display cabinets, and one is double-sided, and acts as a partition between the restaurant and the adjacent bar. The private dining area is separated on three sides, by such cabinets - very attractive. Our service began with a review of the wine list. While short, it did offer some interesting options, and I started with Méo Camuzet Frères & Sœurs Saint-Aubin Blanc Côte de Beaune ‘15. The wine came from the cellar a bit cold, so I had it placed on the table, to warm a bit. I find it all too common, that white wines are served too cold, but our server at least did not fight me, to keep plunging the bottle into ice water. The stemware was nice, but nothing really special. I added the Angela Estate Yamhill-Carlton Willamette Valley Pinot Noir ‘13, and the Mount Veeder Napa Cabernet Sauvignon ‘16. We split the Crispy Octopus, and then had the Cobia and the Pork Belly. All dishes were very good, and their presentations were quite simple, but attractive. Our service was adequate, but our server seemed very much aloof, which was totally unlike all other staff at The Langham - maybe just a bad night. There were no service issues, per se, but everything seemed a bit perfunctory. The lighting and table-spacing were good, and the noise level never rose to even moderate, even from the adjacent bar area. The next morning, at breakfast, the room’s décor, with its more casual aspects, seemed more suited for the meal. For this meal, service was a bit different, in that the staff was very friendly, and almost cheerful. We opted for the Chiliquiles and the Eggs Benedict. Both dishes were cooked perfectly, and their presentations were attractive. The noise level was up, but just slightly, and the room seemed much brighter, as some additional light spilled in from the wall of windows, just to the outside of the dining area. Service was spot-on, and we wanted for nothing. So, two very good meals, and we will return, when we next stay at The Langham Chicago.

Nice

By L H |

Pleasant space, nice view, very nice staff. Comfortable benches, good champagne by the glass. Patagonia prawns appetizer is good; pricey, but large enough to share - 5 headed shrimp, toast (a bit overdone) drizzled w/ lemon aioli. The halibut special was excellent. Branzino good too. Cheesecake dessert is a fresh presentation; light and not too sweet.

Perfect happy hour(s)

By Kathleen |

This is my second time going after work for a happy hour that turned in to spending several hours with coworkers and friends. We never felt rushed or like we had over stayed our welcome, but in fact the opposite! The waitress was so sweet and gave excellent recommendations - a fall burrata dish?! Must try! The space is perfect for enjoying a relaxing time with friends and of course the views can not be beat!

Restaurant week 2018

By Nhuss |

Perhaps because it is in the Langham our expectations were kind of high...? Restaurant week suppose to win you over, make you want to come back - this year was kind of disappointing altogether. Anyways - the grilled octopus appetizer was very delicious. The main course- grilled branzino, with saffron couscous was ok, and the chocolate cake dessert unmemorable. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, the buzz boy was not. I got splashed with water 2 times. Also the setting of the restaurant is a bit awkward- my view was onto the Parkdeck of the Marina towers, as it is for most people. The main lobby of the hotel points towards Wacker drive - which would be the nice view....

Great breakfast/brunch in an elegant atmosphere

By Sophia K |

My husband (he is a Brit) ordered "Langham" (full English breakfast, including two eggs, english rashers, link sausage, roasted tomato, sautéed mushrooms, baked beans, and roasted potatoes). He was very satisfied with its quality. It costed $35, but given that it included a big glass of freshly-squeezed orange juice and a pot of tea (or coffee), it was a good deal. I ordered "Fried Egg Sandwich" (smoked bacon, avocado, harissa aïoli, roasted potatoes), which was absolutely wonderful. The service was good in general, and the waitress for our table was very attentive. We'd love to be back there again.

Nice lunch

By Linda O |

We ate lunch here during restaurant week. I had the steak and my boyfriend had the fish. Both of our meals were delicious. The steak had some gristle otherwise I would have given it a 5. We were surprised to get such a good meal in a hotel restaurant. The server was friendly.

if you don't eat at the restaurant

By Jeff F |

Heard good things about Langham Hotels so thought I'd give it a try. Everything about the hotel was excellent (and comparable to a Four Seasons) EXCEPT the restaurant. The first morning the service was poor & my oatmeal was lukewarm at best. The next morning I had to walk two times to the hallway to get myself coffee after being seated. It took the person having breakfast over 10 minutes just to receive their beverage. My eggs were cold the 2nd morning and this was after complaining to the the front desk about the service. The restaurant was far busy both mornings and had more staff members than patrons.

Unexpected surprise

By chefchar5 |

We have wandered by this spot countless times and stumbled into travelle thanks to open table. What a great find. Fantastic food, fun and energetic with an open kitchen. Muscles for an appetizer was a great start, pork chops for one entree and scallops, both fit the bill. Fun evening in an unexpected location.

Outstanding service, excellent food

By lenexakstraveler |

I took clients to dinner at Travelle and it garnered great reviews. We sat near the kitchen and were able to watch food preparation. Cocktails were adventurous and delicious. The food was creative and right-sized. No massive portions -- just perfectly prepared food and beautifully presented. We had amazing desserts and we'd recommend the lemon pepper ice cream. Divine! The atmosphere was serene and calming. I'd highly recommend!

A night out

By marisa s brown |

Amazingly good! The ambiance and aesthetic of the restaurant was impressive. The selections on the menu was limited if you’re vegan otherwise it has a lot of interesting choices. The chef was accommodating with our request and the meal came out superbly good. It was an incredible experience and definitely will come back again for another adventure.

Limited menu but great wine list, service and food

By Raedward |

We were expecting a 5 star gourmet dining experience but what we got instead was a very good 4+ star menu with a 5 star wine list and service. My wife's Alaskan Sock-eye salmon was the highlight of her meals in the US on this trip.
