Had dinner there tonight. Selections were limited and not as many as in most restaurants. I had a salad appetizer and a pork entree. The food was designer 5 star. The overall number of options were low and rated 3 stars. Service was great. Overall, I rate my dining experience a solid 4 stars. Recommended if you want to dine in a nice restaurant in or near LA Union Station.

Kim & Ceasar were great waitstaff. Food was outstanding. Ceasar salads is fresh and one of the best we've ever had! Great location atUnion Station.

Delicious, cruise ship worthy cuisine served in a colossal Spanish Colonial-style train station is a mere summary of this wonderful experience! My friend and I ordered perfectly seasoned dinners, served piping hot and in such generous portions, we had to split dessert (which was a meal in itself). I ordered the small plate of crab cake and my friend went for the 14 ounces of pork chops which were so tender he didn't need a knife. The dark roast coffee was also excellent. We were impressed by the attentive staff that treated us like royalty. Coffee was refilled before we could even make the request and the dessert was complimentary since I mentioned celebrating my birthday. It's impossible to overstate the beauty of Union Station architecture, constructed during the golden age of travel (and Hollywood). In spite of its grandeur, it is warm and rich like the lodges of the Pacific Northwest. I'll be back anytime business or pleasure takes me to Los Angeles!

Traxx Bar review (not the ~restaurant~): Located in what was once LA Union Station's telephone room lies Traxx Bar. Being in a revitalized and iconic train station, the ambiance is unequaled. Sitting at a table with friends enjoying classic cocktails on a Saturday night while multitudes arrive and depart on trains gives one the feeling of being in a different era. Unfortunately, the bartender was a bit overwhelmed and initially claimed he couldn't make my requested drink (The Last Word). A patron shouldn't have to, but pointed out the ingredients were, indeed, on the shelves. Once that hurdle was overcome, all was right with the world. Drinks ran about $9 a piece, can't beat that. Classic ambiance, classic station, classic drinks, classic friends ... a night worth remembering!

We take the train to Los Angeles to attend the Ahmanson Theatre Sunday matinees. We are always looking for a place to have lunch/brunch prior to curtain. Most times it requires a taxi ride as the choices within walking distance of Union Station are either China Town or Mexican Restaurants. We were delighted to find that Traxx, the lovely restaurant within the gorgeous Union Station is now open for Sunday Brunch. The executive chef greeted us and told us that the brunch service was brand new and we were the very first customers. We sat on the front dining area within the station to enjoy the incredible architecture of the building. The staff was most professional, but what set this place apart was the WONDERFUL FOOD at reasonable prices. I had the 'tartare with poached eggs' and my spouse had the parmesan eggs. Both dishes were unexpected treats. Both unique and both incredibly tasty. They had $5 mimosas to top off the experience. And, the coffee was really good. I sincerely hope they remain open for Sunday brunch as we take the train to LA regularly to attend the theatre.

This restaurant is in Grand Central station, Los Angeles. I was there with a group and we had made a previous reservation. I like the ambience of the place but several items on the menu were unavailable and the waiter was quite rude. Food was so so.

We expected a pleasant meal but we had an excellent meal. Great crab cakes, lovely scallops and a very delicious vegetable salad with farro, feta, arugula. So, the food was stellar.. The place is very attractive. The station is handsome and well worth a visit. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our charming waitress from Texas and wish her lots of luck in LA.

I made a reservation for three. When I showed up with my two kids, there was no line, and most tables were open. The server looked at us, turned around, and walked away. I thought there must be some issue or something happening.. so we stepped back. Another couple stepped up from behind us, and the server promptly seated them with a greeting and menus! So.. we stepped up again, as it was about 2 minutes before our reservation time. Once again.. the server- who was just standing in the back near the kitchen now - briefly looked at us and then walked over to another table. In all honestly, there were now probably four or five tables with patrons in the entire restaurant. I felt a bit of disbelief. I looked around, as I thought that there must be some alternate check in area. After a couple of minutes, someone in the back - in the kitchen area - caught my eye and waved me and my children in. We walked in, and he said to sit wherever we would like. So, we chose a four-top table out in the “courtyard.” When the server came by, a couple of minutes later, he literally did not even glance in our direction- no words were spoken- and he threw two menus on the table. His message was strong. I almost got up and walked away with my children at that point. However, I had made a reservation via OpenTable (and I trust and like OpenTable!), so I waited to talk to him. When he stopped by, I mentioned to him that we felt very unwelcome. He proceeded to tell me that there was no manager on duty and that we could order. Honestly, I just wanted a nice dinner with my kids. This was a terrible experience, although I did thank the kind gentleman in the kitchen before we left. I see that I now have a message from a manager, Kristin, via OpenTable. Management- one way or another- whether just super busy or actually discriminatory- your staff/server made a sweet family feel very unwelcome tonight- and it was not accidental. I hope that you will read this and care, so that others don’t have to feel this way in the future.

I'd just never expect to have good, decent food in a train station -- but this is no ordinary train station! Traxx has a good menu and well prepared and well seasoned food.

This restaurant is surprisingly great! I had the chicken and green chile pasole and my wife had the pepper steak. Both were excellent. The pasole was a huge bowl, wonderfully seasoned, lots of chicken and homemade tortillas. The steak was great snd the fries were perfectly cooked. My cadillac margarita was also perfectly prepared! Dont miss it if you are union station

Traxx is reputed to be a very good restaurant and so I tried it out while at a break for lunch when at Union Station. The Waldorf Salad was outstanding and was substantial. The service was efficient but I did not feel it was as warm as I would have expected.

While traversing Union Station, my Lady and I have often noticed Traxx Restaurant, and expressed an interest in dining there. We had that opportunity the other night, and we're glad we did! We were first charmed by the decor, very pleasing to the eye. We were next impressed by the quality of service, all our desires responded to promptly and pleasantly. The food was the capstone of our dining experience; we shared a crab cake, which we both adjudged to be the best we'd ever had. We also shared an order of the Louisiana Gumbo, a delightful melange of meats and rice in a splendidly spicy sauce. Sad to say, we were too full to consider a dessert selection; maybe next time!

I have been going to Traxx for a long time and it has been consistently good. We now meet before going to a Dodger game to have a quick meal so we don't have to bother with the lousy food at the stadium.

Traxx is at Union (Train) Station, not Grand Central Station. My long time friend and I ate lunch there on a week day. There is a bar area, and thirty feet away, there is the restaurant. Probably the bar does serve food, but is tiny, with a few tables beyond the walls. The terminal is warm on a day with temps of ninety degrees, plus. So my friend and I ate within the walls of the restaurant to enjoy the air conditioning. By 11:30 AM the place was very crowded - -perhaps with business workers on their lunch breaks. But it was very noisy, and not conducive to conversation for friends who had not seen one another for a few years. If easy conversation is important, arrive after 1:30, as the place, for us, was then, conversation friendly. The Waldorf Salad, ($16) was tasty, not drowning in dressing. There were spiced walnut halves, but I did not taste any spice. The salad was definitely enough for a meal, but the apples were very thinly sliced, and there could have been more chicken (Julienned) for my taste. The goat cheese added good flavor. If they serve bread, I did not see it. Some hamburgers were delivered to the table next to us which looked appetizing, like specialty burgers (with fries). The table was set with linen cloth, napkins, and heavy silver, with a tiny vase of flowers. My friend ordered the (one) Jumbo Crab Cake ($20) "small plate". I guess she enjoyed it. She did not really comment on the taste. It was served with a small amount of spiced corn. Our male server, was very attentive. I did not have to ask for a small box for leftovers. He also brought us each a parking validation ticket without us having to ask. Service was EXCELLENT and professional. One drawback, there is road work going on nearby, with detours, so plan extra time for arrival. Parking is rather expensive if one does not have the two hours free, restaurant parking validation.

Great setting in the historic Union Station main hall.

Met friends from out of town before they took the Amtrak to Houston out of Union station. Had a nice quiet dinner at Traxx. Although the menu was a bit limited, the food was tasty, well presented and at a reasonable price Service was good. Very friendly. Parking was the most trouble but not out of the ordinary for downtown. Enjoyed it. The nostalgia of Union Station is also worth the visit.

Such a classic bar, 1930+ at it best. Enjoy the architecture in this impressive train station and let your imagination roll. So special.

6 of us had an amazing dinner on Friday night. The pork salad was fantastic. My Caesar salad was a variation that I would definitely order that again. The gumbo was spicy but excellent. The french fries they came with the hanger steak were also excellent. Everyone enjoyed the pork chops. The ambience of Union station is a pleasure.

My traveling companion said he had never had a better pork chop (and he's a Midwesterner and knows his pork chops!) I had potato chowder and a Waldorf salad, both excellent. The restaurant is actually in the train station, and open on the station side, so we were treated to chamber music being played just outside. A white-tablecloth place, a nice change from the usual food-court fare in transportation facilities. Service was excellent; our server even went out to another establishment to get us change for tipping on the train, because they didn't have many small bills. Since we were paying with a credit card, this was definitely above and beyond her duties.

I'm always awed walking through the magnificent station, but we always bypassed Traxx. So, we decided to take the train and complete the journey by dining here. It was so rewarding. The room suggests an understated elegance and the food met our expectations. Add a knowledgeable and friendly waiter, and everything was right on Traxx. Next time we'll try the outside dining area to absorb more of the station's ambience.

I cannot say enough good things about TRAXX. Who would think a restaurant in a Train Station would be so amazing??? When I first discovered Traxx I was stunned by the fine cuisine (food to die for!), They also have a fabulous staff that totally spoils you...! My first experience there was for my BIG birthday party a few years ago. I was set at the bar and I was very pleased with the way it was all handled by the owner Tara. She did everything she could to welcome all of us, making that day very special for me. I would also like to thank the main bartender Sephton Leggett for being such a fantastic host! Everyone had a blast and the finger food was excellent! The last time I went there was for the wedding of my niece in May, It was a sit down dinner (3-4 courses). They held it in the courtyard and it could not have been more perfect. It was quite romantic with the old architecture of the Station as the back drop. Everything was catered by the kitchen of Traxx... and all the dishes were made to perfection ...right down and the timing as they served it. It was top notch service and top notch food ! From what I understand, they hold a lot of weddings and parties in that garden style courtyard. I highly recommend it! Be sure to check out the bar at Traxx also...it is located by the front door of the station...and a great place to hang out at the end of a hard day. One thing I have to warn you about ; once you discover this hidden gem, you will get addicted and will return!

This is a restaurant for people watching since it faces the passenger hallway to the train tracks. No closed since the terminal at union station is being remodeled.

I've never eaten at the Traxx restaurant but have been in the bar several times. Nice little spot to have a drink and people watch as it's next to the entrance. Prices are what you'd expect in a place for travel, expensive. Good for a drink with a friend.

A friend brought me down to catch a train so I treated her to dinner. We didn't have anything exotic and the food was good but nothing spectacular. The server was nice but seemed to be the only one there taking care of the outside tables. We sat outside the restaurant in the lobby so we could people watch and take in the atmosphere of Union Station. Next time we'll eat somewhere else. Very pricey for average food.

A friend and I embarked on an adventure. Got out of our cars and took Metrolink to Union Station where we enjoyed a tasty lunch on the patio of Traxx. The service was professional and unhurried. Union Station is an important LA historic landmark, maintained beautifully. I hadn't been in the station for many years, not since the days when we would "train" to Colorado with our young children. The two patios are quite lovely and a piano has been placed in the station for amateurs or professionals to play. A talented individual was at the keyboard the afternoon we visited. After lunch we walked to a gallery located in ChinaTown. The whole experience was delightful.

At there as we were on our way by train from LA to Chicago. It is a bit pricey, however the food was pretty good.

Stopped in for a drink, Chris the barman was friendly, the beer was cold for a reasonable price and they had a good selection. If you have a wait before your train it’s a great place to stop for a while.

Perfect place to have lunch downtown. It is inside the wonderful and historic Union Train Station. It is not noisy and it is easy to park. The food is surprisingly good. The service was excellent and for those of you business people in a constant rush, they will get you in and out in 45 minutes.

Calling at Union Station to collect our Rail Pass tickets to begin our USA trip, we came upon Traxx. Such a lovely restaurant, with tables spilling out on to the concourse, the linen cloths and napkins were such a bonus. All staff were casually super friendly and professional. The menu was interesting with many items we could understand and relate to! The prices were such good value. I had grilled chicken cob sandwich - delicious. Husband had Burger which he very much enjoyed. No wonder USA is called "home of the burger" as you all really know how to make them taste delicious. Explanation of our drinks was immediately understood and arrived quickly. All in all it was a terrific experience far better than grabbing something to eat on the go.

This restaurant in Union Station is a very pleasant surprise. We had several hours to wait for an Amtrak train, so we decided to have dinner here. It was fantastic. The food is fresh and inventive and very California. And it was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were also quite good. The night we were there service was little hectic because they also were doing a private party. Yet the food, was still great. If you have a layover in Union Station, this is the place to go.

I enjoyed an excellent business lunch at Traxx on a Wednesday afternoon. Valet park for $8. Several tables available. Ask for a table in the outdoor patio. Linen tablecloths and napkins. The service was fast and professional. I was quickly seated and my waiter immediately mentioned the special of the day. I ordered the Grilled Chicken "Cobb" Sandwich without the bacon and it was fresh and delicious. I recommend Traxx for a downtown business lunch and I would return there.

Historic Union Station is one of the last places you might expect to find a restaurant of this caliber. I was very surprised to find such a great restaurant at the Union Train Station. We had a party of 8 and we were a little pressed for time. The food portions were abundant and delicious and served in a timely fashion but not rushed. The staff was attentive and we were able to have wonderful meal and get to our next meeting in plenty of time.

When Union Station in Los Angeles was planned, the city fathers didn't want an Eastern style railroad station. They wanted something that would immediately evoke California for passengers disembarking in LA. The style they chose is called Neo Mission, that is, "New Mission" style. And indeed it is a building in the style of the missions. Inside, the style is Art Deco, from the chairs in the waiting room to the lofty ceilings. Set amid this architectural splendor is Traxx. My wife and I have been aware of this restaurant for a number of years, but frankly, i don't think of Union Station as a dining destination. However, one night my wife announced that she was taking me to a surprise dinner. Part of the surprise was that we took the Metro from the Universal City station to Union Station. Once there, it was a very short walk to Traxx, set in the main waiting room. The restaurant was cozy inside, if somewhat empty. The chairs and banquettes are beautifully upholstered, completely in harmony with the Art Deco interior of the Station. The dinner menu is fairly complete, but my wife and I zeroed on the same dish...chicken cooked under a brick. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and served on a bed of garlicky mashed potatoes, surrounded by fresh chanterelle mushrooms. All in all, a very very tasty dish. We drank a glass of Caldera Viogner to accompany it. I definitely recommend Traxx as a dining venue if you are downtown, or coming thru Union Station via the train. You won't be disappointed.

I went there with my boyfriend on a Friday night and had the best clam chowder ever!! It was so good I wished I had had another bowl instead of my crab cake.

I live in Orange County and met my sister (down from the Bay Area on business) for dinner here, using the Metrolink train. Union Station is convenient for those meeting up via public transit, because it has Amtrak, Metrolink, Metro subway and many bus lines all converging on it. I rode Metrolink into LA, my sister rode a Dash D bus from downtown for 35 cents, runs every 5-6 minutes and stops right outside her office building. She was not familiar with the layout of downtown LA and appreciated an easy-to-find, direct bus link to the station. I asked half a dozen people who visit LA frequently for downtown recommendations. Of those six, five recommended Traxx. Several of them said that to find better food downtown, you'd have to spend twice as much, and that no one could touch the quality at this price point. I ride the train to LA several times a year, had always noticed Traxx while exiting the station, but always assumed that a restaurant with a station franchise couldn't be very good, due to lack of competition. We ate outside the restaurant in the concourse, beautiful Art Deco interior with soaring beamed ceilings. This was the last major train station built in the USA and it's an architectural treasure. My sister ordered two appetizers, asparagus and crab cakes: superb. Being from the Bay Area, she is rather difficult to impress, but she was amazed at the service and quality of the food. I tried the hangar steak, delicious with a whiskey peppercorn sauce, and they gladly substituted spring vegetables in place of the frites listed on the menu. Despite having to meet at rush hour (5:30-6:30) when the station was full of commuters, the interior was surprisingly free of echoes and not overly noisy. The interior dining room is cozy and intimate, but if you want to people watch and feel as if you are part of a big city, the concourse tables are the place to eat. The lunch menu is more moderately priced, and offers a choice of smaller or full sized entrees, though lunch is served only Monday-Friday. This would be a great place for those in business or law to meet clients who have journeyed to LA by train. Most of the patrons were smartly dressed. Given that it's only open Saturday for dinner and closed for Sunday, it most likely doesn't serve too many casually dressed sightseers. My sister and I were in what might call "office casual" and did not look out of place on a Wednesday evening.

Traxx Restaurant is located in Los Angeles' iconic Union Station, as the premier restaurant among several available dining options. There is an interior dining room with an open kitchen in the back, or optionally you can sit in a roped-off area in front of it surrounded by the art deco architecture of the station and passengers walking by. There is a separate full bar across the main corridor, where you can get drinks and bar food, and where the waiters fetch your beverages when you are dining. The menu has a good variety to is, including various small plates and entrees. One might wrongly assume that a restaurant in a train station wouldn't be any better than one in an airport, but we have eaten at Traxx several times with excellent results. Traxx (and Union Station) are easy to get to via Metro Rail (Red, Purple, and Gold lines), or if you drive there you can park under the adjacent Patsaouras Bus Center.

Saw this place in union station and thought I would try it. I was there with my auntie, and she really liked the inside. We sat in the main room, and it was pretty nice. My auntie likes people watching and this is a nice place to do it. You can see all the people getting home from work. The service was great, and the food was not too bad. We did eat like kings though. I had a really good chicken sandwich, and my auntie had a reuben. It wasn't amazing but definitely worth trying.

We had appetizers and drinks here while waiting to board the Southwest Chief...the whole experience was an adventure and a half! The surrounding Depot is gorgeous in architecture and character. The drinks are good and the shrimp cocktail was enough for two. Delightful, cannot wait to return.

This restaurant is located inside the Los Angeles Union Station. There are tables in a small, pleasant room and others in the main concourse just off the waiting room. I ate in the main concourse so I could watch the people go by on their way home from work or on longer trips. The people watching is wonderful. The food and service were excellentl. I had an appetizer, main course and dessert and all were very well executed. There is a good wine list by the bottle and by the glass. I went early and enjoyed watching the crowds rushing to their commuter trains.

We stopped here to celebrate our business meeting and enjoyed 3 delicious drinks before catching our train home: cosmo, gin and tonic, and a cider. Loved them all. About $26 + tips.

Convenient location to meet clients if you are traveling into LA by train or Metro. Great food from the lunch menu (soups, salads, sandwiches and full entrees) great service. If you plan to be talking business, you should probably ask to sit "inside"...There are café table out in the open station and it can get a little noisy there. You can make reservations online via their website.

Visited the downtown area for the day, using the train as our mode of transportation. As our visit wound down, my wife and I found ourselves seated comfortably in the bar section of Traxx Isabell our server and bartender was very friendly and brought our cold beer to our table with style and grace. Good music, low light and a cool vibe. Waiting for our train was way more enjoyable

Got married there!

Traxx at the Union Station in Los Angeles is a fun way to see the architecture of Union Station in LA.Its a higher scale restaurant there (for 2 with wine - its about $80-100). The food is quite good.....the pork chop was very large and the steak was excellent.Several parties there were enjoying birthday and anniversary celebrations while we were there....so good to get a reservation. Deserts are fine (but they seem to run out of several very early in the evening.) Service was attentive and nice. Wines were good; full bar (including those drinks you sometimes cannot get such as ouzo, pernod, etc.). Would I go back? Probably not as the location is ok but not stellar when paying this amount of money for dinner. There are so many people coming and going on the Metro and on Amtrak. But for one time outing -it is well worth it!

Had a long layover and needed a good drink and snack. Had the chicken wings and a glass of wine which were excellent. Good place for people watching

There are not many food options in Los Angeles Union Station so I stopped into Traxx for a nice meal before my evening train departed. I ordered the seared wild salmon and it was absolutely delicious!!! I believe the menu description read, Seared Wild Salmon with Melted Leeks & Beurre Blanc. I should've taken a photo! The salmon filet was perfectly cooked with a crisp skin outside and tender meat inside. They provide a bread basket and butter while you wait and the busboy was very prompt at clearing empty dishes from my table. If you decide to sit at one of the tables outside of the restaurant, be aware that the people watching is no Rodeo Drive. While I was there a man in a wheel chair claiming his name was Kobe Bryant cursed out security guards.

We had not been to Traxx for several years and found it to be a very nice surprise. Chef Brendan and server Serge made the evening. Pacing was very good! The food was verywell prepared, I had crab cakes and my wife had the salad. Both excellant. I had thhe striped bass and she had the cassoulet. The fish was great! The cassoulet while not the usual style of Perigord with pork belly had small amounts of merguez sausage had enormous slices of lamb equivalent to three good lamb chops. The setting in the art deco uniun station is worth the trip itself.

If you have any commuter friends, this is a great place to grab dinner. Nicely decorated in the famous deco style of Union Station, this restaurant offered both concourse and interior seating. I would say the serving sizes were a tad small for the price but the food was good. My friend ordered the pork chop and it was the real-winner of the evening. My husband had the scallops, which were good. However, there were only 4 and the side dish of pureed carrot wasn't substantial enough for him. I ordered the special which was seared salmon with a garlic purple potato mash. I thought the salmon was cooked nicely. Overall, it was a nice meal with good service and would likely go again to meet my friends on the go.

Hi,I went with my stepdaughter to LA for one day bye train and when we came back in the station we found that restaurant by luck.We were very hungry and there was steak au poivre on the menu.Normally nine on ten in the restaurant they can't make it like it must be.So I asked the lady and she explained me very good how it was done and I must agree she was right. It was the best stuk au poivre I ate in an restaurant .Happy me.Also very friendly staff .dont hesitate,go for it if you really like pepper steak.the rest I can't judge.

I was tired and hungry when I came across this haven at the AmTrak depot. The food was good and the service good. I ate outdoors and it was very pleasant. Oh yes good wine also.

Missed one train so we had dinner at Traxx while waiting the for the last of the day; and we were happy with the choice. There was a very loud gaming show going on nearby so we ate inside rather than people watch from the patio. Crab cakes was one of the best examples we've found in California. Nice amount of crab, little filler and a nice bit of spice on the meat A mango salsa added to the enjoyment. The Gumbo was not as successful. There were several large shrimp in the dish, all vastly overcook and tough. The whitefish and sausage were good, as was the broth. But the way overcooked shrimp kinda spoiled the dish for me. Service was decent and prices in-line with what you expect from fine dining in Los Angeles.

The menu is not extensive, but there are very good choices for most tastes, and at very reasonable cost for the quality. The service is attentive and friendly. My wife does not eat meat, and she was as happy as I was. The restaurant is in the main concourse of the beautifully restored Union Station, with dining areas in the concourse, in a separate indoor area adjacent to the concourse, and in the garden outside the restaurant. The concourse area offers great people-watching, but is a bit noisy. We chose the more isolated indoor area, primarily because my wife feared that outdoors might get too chilly as the evening wore on. The outdoor area is quite pleasant, and we were quite happy with our choice indoors.

We tried the chicken dish and a few deserts, very happy with the service, environment, and unique tastes prepared by the chef here. Highly recommend.

Some friends and I made a day-trip on the train to Los Angeles and had lunch at Traxx (11:30 AM). On our arrival, we were taken inside by the hostess, to a round table near the front window. The service was good (not outstanding) and our server was not especially friendly (never saw a smile). The food was tasty; everyone in our party of five was pleased. Among the items ordered were the Waldorf Salad, Hanger Steak, and Fennel Risotto/Prawns; all really enjoyed their lunches. Two of us got the "Traxx Burgers"; they were good, perhaps not as good as the "Habit" or much better than "In & Out," and probably not worth $14. As I was eating it, I was wishing I'd gone to get a Philippe's Beef Dip from up the street! There was lipstick on my coffee cup, but the server promptly brought a new one when I pointed it out. It was a nice lunch outing because I love the ambience of Union Station, but the prices for lunch seemed a bit high for what you got. I'm not eager to go back.

This white-tablecloth place inside Union Station is rather small, which is nice. The lunch menu is short but inviting. I had the Ruben sandwich which was perfectly prepared and more than ample. My companion enjoyed the burger which he said was excellent. Service was wonderful. Highly recommended, but closed between lunch and dinner.

This is a lovely little bar situated in the wonderful Art Deco Union Station. We stopped by for drinks twice during our day trip to this area. Service was good, prices reasonable and it was a great place just to kick back and enjoy a rest with a cold beer. Food being served during the lunchtime service looked very good.

This is the most decent restaurant which you will find inside the LA Union station, in my view. It's a very quiet place, right at the entrance of a LA union station, which is usually a crowded place, where you can both drink and dine. The Menu list is not that long. But the food which they serve is actually pretty good. A good place to try out. My rating would be Very good; 4 stars!

Greatly exceeded expectations for quality and uniqueness of food. My caprese sandwich was truly a delight. Went on the Union Station tour first, had lunch - YUM!! Wandered the Olivera area and came back for a cocktail in the lounge. Both the restaurant and the lounge had GREAT staff. Will go back.

Located inside Los Angeles Union Train Station. I was impressed by the quality service and excellent food (steak and sea food). Was pretty pricey for what I received. I was able to be seated (with out reservations) and had my food within 45 minutes (if you have an inbound train to catch). I actually treated myself for my last night in LA.

Dropping off a friend at Union Station, and to be honest, it was so dang hot outside, I wanted to just sit inside at a nice restaurant. Traxx was perfect. Located near front entrance of the station, it’s cool, hip decor beaconed me to come in. Henoch was the server and almost could read my mind, me wanting cold water and a place to sit. Ordered the Waldorf Salad and it was cool perfection (if you’re sensing a trend here, you get it-when did the world get SO UNBEARABLY HOT) Fresh greens, red grapes, candied nuts and slightly sweet dressing. Highly recommend.

if your stuck at Union, Go Here! One TV, but snack on some fries with the dipping sauces, all of them are awesome! Beers off tap and the people are nice! Good hang out while you wait for your train/bus.

Traxx is on Alameda right near the train station. The food is quite good and they have a full bar. They have fresh fish everyday and they also have great crab cakes. The service is very good and the prices are reasonable. We loved their deserts.

Traxx is located inside Union Station, Los Angeles. Very nice setting. However the menu is very limited and the food was only so so. I guess it's ok for someone already there traveling on a train that day and wants a nice restaurant to dine while waiting. I don't think it's worth it to go there otherwise.

Myself and 3 other friends took the train from Orange County to Traxx Restaurant in Union station and met up with another friend from Santa Barbara. We chose this restaurant because it was convenient and I had heard good things. Unfortunately, our experience did not begin to meet any of these positive reviews. 4 of us had the Waldorf Salad, which most of us basically left half finished. The greens were not fresh, and the apple was sliced so thin we thought they had forgotten to put it in. We were never asked if we wanted anything to drink, never asked if we wanted dessert. We had to ask our waiter twice for some rolls, and finally at the end one of us went and physically asked at the bar for some bread. We got 4 small pieces of bread at the finish of our meal. Would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience. Maybe other dishes would have been better, but then again, there's no excuse for poor service.

Ate dinner here on our last night in Los Angeles while waiting for train in historic Union Station. I had striped bass and friend had halibut. We were very pleased with the meal but were surprised that the rolls were cold. Rating would be higher if the rolls were heated or a type not usually heated. Otherwise the meal and service were excellent. Great atmosphere, especially considering it is located in a train station. We ate in the open area where we could people watch. We also had the options of eating inside or in the outside patio.

We travel mostly by Amtrak and pass through Los Angeles Union Station several times each year and always try to have lunch or dinner in Traxx. We like the tables in the concourse so we can enjoy the fabulous art deco ambiance and amazing people watching as commuters and long-distance travelers go to and from their trains. We have dined here many times and have always found great food and service. The wine list is limited, but what is offered is good and reasonably priced. Both the lunch and dinner menus have a nice variety and I especially like the Green Chile Posole with Grilled Chicken… Avocado, Tomato, Radish, Cotija Cheese, Cilantro Almond Pesto & a Fire Roasted Tortilla on the dinner menu. For dessert, we like either the Lemon Curd Tart with Raspberry Coulis or Classic Vanilla Bean Crème Brulée. When we catch the Southwest Chief to Chicago, which departs at 6:10 pm, we go for an appetizer and sparkling wine and then have dinner on the train. Few train stations offer fine dining options, so this is a rare find.

The idea of sitting in a bar sipping drinks while waiting for the train is so romantic. Moscow Mule and a Martini makes for great drinks before heading home.

Great atmosphere very clean wonderful bar staff ..drinks were perfect appetizers delicious fun place to go train station gorgeous!!!!

Had some mid-day cocktails and a terrific bratwurst sandwich on a sunny L.A./ afternoon. After an hour or so walking through Olvera Street, if you have had your fill of Mexican fare, try this great spot!

We were on a 10PM overnight train and decided to get a late (7:30PM) dinner. This is the only place in Union Station for a sit-down meal, and since it was late, we did not want to venture outside the station as we had done on previous trips. The menu was extremely "high-end" and there was no children's menu (or at least we were not offered one). We ended up sharing a salad with (burned) chicken. $30 for a salad + tea + coffee seemed high. Plus, we overheard a server complaining about a tip. This place could be so much better if it didn't overshoot. The Union Station crowd is not a high-end crowd. It would be better served by a mid-range cafe/diner with more modest food choices. If it's daylight, I'd recommend venturing out to Olvera Street or Chinatown for a meal instead. Both are within easy walking distance.

I went to Traxx last night. Our waiter Jacob was great. I had two bottles of wine to taste, and I didn't like either one of them that was unusual. Then I ordered a New York Strip which was baked I ordered medium to medium rare, and I got a well done piece of meat. I was disspointed sadly, I would try it again, hopefully with a much better experience, but the atmosphere of being at Union Station was really nice, and the restaurant is so clean. The two ladies I was with ordered the salmon and they both loved it. The Ceasars Salad with the Mediterranean white anchovies was also very enjoyable. The cosmopolitan was great, the glasses were too small would be my only complain, I would try again, but they have to be careful with a steak.

We had a long day walking in the area as tourists when we entered Union Station to catch the Gold Line. We did not get past Traxx Bar and stopped for a drink. Sefton kept us entertained as well as all the different folks who stopped in from all sorts of places. Our drink turned into 3 hours and as people watchers, we loved it there.

I broke my Amtrak trip from San Diego to San Luis Obispo by getting off at Union Station just to have lunch at Traxx. What a good move! I became an instant fan of their menu, service and amazing location where you can watch the world walk by without being in the thick of it. So, returning to LA, I stopped there for dinner before going to my B&B. And after a long day sightseeing, I had a martini in the bar before hopping the Metro. Don't offhand recall my menu choices, but obviously they were excellent or I wouldn't have been a new repeat customer. My B&B hostess and her daughters, lifelong residents of LA, said Traxx is one of their favorites. Take it from a local!

First, location. Right on the main drag through Union Station. Ultimate people watching patio dining. Second, service. Outstanding. There every time you wanted anything and not oppressive. Third, food. OMG! I had no idea food this good could be at a train station. The creme brulé was off the hook. If you have the time, eat here. The prices are reasonable. Best way to kill an hour waiting for your train.

This restaurant serves Continental, casual dining. Souls, salads, chicken and fish are the specialty items, but you also have other choices as well. The desserts are also delicious

Traxx serves excellent upscale food in the beautifully preserved Union Station Train Station in Los Angeles. Caesar salad and halibut, crab cakes were all excellent with generous portions.Service was thoughful and caring. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for...excellent food and service, generous portions and a superior place to meet if you are coming from different directions on the Red Line, Metrolink, or Amtrak. Highly recommended!

I thought I was invisible ! Arrived there about 5 :00 p.m. and set at the bar after getting out of the office. Two bartenders and a bar back totally ignored me so after 10 minutes I left. They just talked with each other while the bar back set the candles on the table. Right in front of me ,they just did not ask me nothing, totally ignored me ! Really rude.

I was in LAUPT at dinner, and there are some pretty limited options. Personally I am a burger in a local bar sort of guy, but hey, I'm on vacation. Traxx is right inside the Los Angeles union station, with seating inside the restaurant and tables out in the station itself. I had a local fish dish that was the special, and it was outstanding. I would have enjoyed a salad or small side dish with it, but that is not how i guess things are done with fine dining. There are some oddities, the sever had to go to the bar on the other side of the station for my beer, and if you are sitting at the tables not in the restaurant but out in the station, you are going to get pan handled. The staff does shoo them off, but it is another distraction for them. Bottom line is if I ever find myself back here, i would eat here again and try something else, and would also seek out a salad or side dish option.

Interesting place. We went for dinner at 9pm Saturday night. Union station is beautiful and should be seen once at least Valet parking is subsidized by the restaraunt. Traxx bar is across the hall from the restaraunt and seemed fine inside but was totally dead at 9pm on a Saturday night (literally 2 or 3 people there). Prior to going I saw that the restaraunt had gotten kind of mixed reviews. Overall we thought it was very good. I had tenderloin cooked rare which was EXCELLENT. Literally might have been one of the best steaks I've ever had. My wife had a risotto and prawns dish that she actually liked but I didn't like at all. The rissoto was sweet tasting and unique but it just seemed like something you could have gotten from a can. Our crabcake appetizer was good with lots of crabmeat and we also split vanilla bean creme brulee which I'd say was average. Personally I would sit inside the restaraunt for a quiet dinner because on their "patio" in the station there are lots of people walking around near the tables. Overall we had a good experience and a good dinner that was reasonably priced to other comparative LA restaurants. I'm not sure we'll go again, but I'm glad we went once.

Fine dining in the beautiful historic Union Station. Excellent service, good wine list. Definitely recommended as a place to spend a hour or more before your train leaves.

As a longtime LA resident, I cannot believe I waited this long to make it to Traxx. This is a restaurant that truly understands hospitality. I have very rarely seen the level of service I was treated to at Traxx. Adam and Dylan went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied. To feel genuinely taken care of is quality often lost in restaurants today. The food was outstanding (the Caesar salad was tremendous and the Eggplant Tapenade absolutely wonderful). The drinks were delicious. The atmosphere historic and charming. Those elements are important, but it was the graciousness of Adam and Dylan that will bring me back above all!

My husband and I were looking for a place for dinner close to Disney Concert Hall where we were attending a concert. There are quite a few to choose from but we settled on a great little restaurant located in Union Station called Traxx. We had been here for drinks and dinner before and really enjoyed it then. On this visit, it seemed that the menu was smaller. It wasn't crowded at all for a Saturday night but we had early reservations (6 p.m.) so I don't know if business has dropped off. This time we sat "inside" which means not in the concourse where you can do some serious people watching. There was only one waitress but she was doing a pretty good job of handling all the tables. My husband ordered the rib-eye steak and I had the soup du jour which was a green gazpacho and rock shrimp pasta with a lime-cilantro cream sauce. My husband gave high marks to the steak remarking that the garlic sauce really enhanced the flavor of the meat. I thought the soup was excellent. The pasta was good but body was lacking in the sauce. It had good flavor but it wasn't creamy enough. I couldn't finish it and ended up taking a doggie bag home. The chef didn't scrimp on the shrimp. The dish was loaded with them and they were perfectly cooked. I hope Traxx is around for a long time. They have a bar just across the concourse which we didn't visit on this trip but it was really nice when were there a couple years ago. Nice benefit, there is valet parking which the restaurant validates so it's only $4 plus tip to park. In L.A. that's called a bargain with a capital B.

Very convenient place for 5 of us to meet dinner- three of us walked 2 blocks after a meeting at the CA Endowment Center- and another took the metro from Claremont and- one person drove in from west LA. We decided on Traxx bar for drinks at 4pm and then an early dinner at 5pm when the restaurant opened- Very glad we did. Enjoyed delicious cucumber gazpacho, large crab cakes, southwest bean and quinoa salad, green salads, and chicken risotto- shared a delicious flour less chocolate cake. Lovely setting. Good wine and service and validated parking!

My travel companion and I ever a late and leisurely lunch here a few hours prior to the Southwest Chief departure. The menu is not extensive, but the quality is very good and the setting classy. I had the roasted vegetable and the friend had a Caesar salad and the pistols, which I also sampled. We enjoyed a Creme Brûlée ands Lemon tart. Service by Tom was gracious. I would certainly eT here I the future.

Traxx Restaurant and Bar is located in the historic Union Station in downtown Los Angeles (note that while the neighborhood is described by Tripadvisor as "South San Gabriel Valley", that is rather misleading). We were there for lunch, so I can't review the dinner menu. Because it was a very hot day we opted against dining on the patio, although it looked lovely, and instead sat in the concourse area where we could enjoy the architecture. Service was outstanding, and the food wonderful. We had the crabcakes appetizer (excellent), a Traxx Burger and fries (very good), and the chocolate praline cake with creme anglaise (spectacular for chocolate lovers!). We would caution other guests - and this is not a criticism of the restaurant - that Union Station isn't air-conditioned (or if it is, the A/C wasn't working that day). So if the weather is warm, dress accordingly. As for the bar, we didn't visit it but noted that it is separate from the restaurant, across the concourse. All in all, a great lunch in a wonderful setting. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could (a half-point deducted for the lack of air conditioning, a minor quibble and really not their fault.) We'll be back!

Our group of 10 went there last Saturday and all left happy. The atmosphere was great as the palce was quiet and we could all easily hear each other which is unusual for a group of that size. The server was very responsive and all were happy with their meals. I had the prok chop; the portion was generous and was delightfully creative. The chef, who came to our table to check in on us, uses a lot of unusual and somewhat strong spices so if you order the chipolte fries, beware, We would definitely recommend this as a delightful restaurant with creative food. There are not a large number of entrees but all were very good to excellent. Enjoy.

Surprising find in the middle of Union Station. Stop in for a bite.

We have been vacationing and we are here waiting for our train at Union Station. We decided to get dinner and we pick this restaurant...first off we were greeted by a very nice person she showed us to a table that we got to pick...I ordered a Amaretto Sour and it was delicious my friend order a beer the beer couldn't been colder. We than order our dinner...I order the seafood mussels they were delicious I recommend them. My friend order striped bass it was delicious and excellent...than we ordered dessert...I had creme brulee with a garnish of slice strawberries it was delicious...my friend order bread pudding it was delicious. We both had coffee. The service was great, the food was excellent. If ever we are here again we will be eating here.

Setting is better than the overpriced food

Traxx has been a desired destination for us for 10 years, but it didn't happen until a surprise birthday for me last night. We had an outstanding experience in one of my favorite buildings in the world--Union Station. We live in the burbs, and caught the 6:08 Amtrak Surfliner from Anaheim. Arrived at Traxx and the champagne my wife ordered was there chilling on our table for 5. A very intriguing menu, and the small plates told us that Traxx was indeed the right place all these years. My venison carpaccio was a treat. We all ordered different dinners, and everyone raved, including the vegetarian. My fennel risotto was tasty, tasty...big flavors. My wife's pork chop in the mission fig sauce disappeared, and while she's not a polenta lover, the Traxx polenta scored big time with her. Bread pudding with rosemary was another surprising, new taste, and delicious. After dinner, we explored Union Station for maybe 40 minutes, then caught the 10:15 train back to Anaheim. A memorable adventure. A big thank you to the Traxx team.

The most surprising thing about this superb restaurant is that it is smack in the middle of the Union Train Station. I look forward to dining here at least once a month because everything on the menu is creatively prepared and savory. Last week the martini was ice cold and crisp, the mussel appetizer spicy and fresh, the beet salad lush, the sea bass delectable. I have enjoyed each and every of the dozens of meals I have had here, while watching the most interesting parade of humanity pass my table. Truly a feast for both the stomach and eyes. Amtrak travel is a great way to avoid traffic and this restaurant adds to each pleasurable experience.

Traxx is a lovely restaurant in the middle of Union Station. The service has been perfect every time I have gone and the menu is interesting-not just the usual choices. There is also outdoor eating in back and on the other side of Union Station is the bar portion of Traxx-definitely a great place to hang out if you really are waiting for a train. They'll even bring you food from the restaurant.

Taking advantage of a delay in a train departure we decided to eat at the one sitdown restuarant in Union Station in downtown LA. I had a wonderful crab cake appetizer full of real crab and not much filler and a great slightly spicy sauce and a really good Pinot Grigio.. My teenage grandson had the Salad Nicosie that he loved and ate every bit! Would recommend both any time.

My husband and I are lunch there while waiting for our train. Our food was delicious, wait staff attentive and decor was lovely. My husband had the seared salmon and I had the crab cake, both were delicious! We will definitely eat here again on our next trip.

My husband and I went here for my birthday dinner. The service was a little slow, but that was okay because we weren't in any hurry. The server was polite and helpful when he did get to us. The food was very good, well presented. The restaurant is small and quiet, clean and nicely appointed , but it is inside of Union station, which can be very busy with foot traffic passing by. There is an outside section, but Dine inside to avoid the close up view of the dregs of humanity going to and from trains. A little pricey, but good for a nice Downtown lunch or dinner. Would go again!

I've been to Traxx twice, both times for events. The first time was for a literary reading on a Saturday night and the second was, more recently, for the Stoney Awards (Stonewall Democratic Club). Both times, I noticed that the servers and bartenders seemed to be expert at handling large groups of people. The food served at the Stoneys was great, but you definitely had to be positioned strategically in order to get some of the best items, like the chicken skewers and mushroom toasts. If I need to hold a large group event, I will keep this Traxx in mind. There was valet parking available and, even with area construction, the train station was easy to find. The train station is a beautiful facility and adds a bit of old world glamor to the venue.

We chose this because of its location - within the magnificent Union Station in Los Angeles - but were pleasantly surprised by the food as well. The station is one of the last great US railway stations, built in 1939, and is worth a visit on its own. The restaurant is located just off the main concourse and there is also a busy bar area. Food was good and at $97 for 2 people for 2 courses, not too expensive. The best dish we had was the striped bass with fennel but it was all good. Well worth a visit if you are in this part of town.

Probably I went at a wrong time. 6 pm for a dinner! Very welcoming atmosphear inside. Pineapple juice was not fresh as suggested and the starter bread was cold. However the bass I ordered was perfect. Good place to eat. Recommended. 3.5/5

I enjoyed the stunning architect of the train station. The food was delicious. I had the venison carpaccio with horseradish sauce. The risotto was really yummy.

Just the finishing touch on this Iconic Train Station! Fabulous architecture, restorations in progress, and this tiny little bar/bistro/restaurant is tucked into little corner of the completely charming train station. Dark wood, reminiscent of the Very Old Movies on the Silver Screen! Stop by, even if you're in a rush to commute. Take in the history and ambiance of this fabulous building and it's history!

The food and service in Traxx Restaurant located in Union Station is very good. The prices are a little on the high side. It is mainly open for lunch and dinner and it is closed on Sundays and holidays. The draw back is that you have to pay for parking if you drive there.

At our table we ordered the tenderloin and pork chops. Both were delicious. The service wasn't incredible but it was a laid-back atmosphere and we had a great time. I would definitely recommend it.

I have been through Union Station a few times over the past five years and never had time to stop and eat at the Traxx restaurant inside. Fortunately last night I had 3 hours and was determined to have a nice meal there. Wow! I should not have waited. This is food worth missing a train for. The service from Amber was 1st class. I had the perfectly grilled pork chops which were served with delicious sautéed spinach, roasted potatoes, and roasted figs and grapes. I never ate a roasted grape or fig before, but I'm telling you, everything on this plate came together in true gourmand style. There were so many wonderful tastes separately and yet even better when eaten together and washed down with the cabernet from Paso Robles. What a treat! I was only sort of hungry but I couldn't stop eating it...I just took my time. The restaurant ambiance is superb! The style of the building I've always admired. It is a beautiful art deco building that makes one feel as if you walked back in time, even with many travelers' attention on their smartphones. The restaurant has that sleek and sophisticated feel from the 1930s with the crisp white linens, candles and flowers on each table, and the seasonal decor along the walls. I half expected to see Dagney Taggart come in and sit at her usual table! Do not miss a chance to dine here. I had to let the chef know how much I loved, loved, loved the meal. I would make the trip from my home in San Marcos via train just to eat here.

While passing through on a train trip, I purposely dined at the Traxx Restaurant and Bar due to the favorable reviews from previous customers. I was not disappointed; in fact, my meal was a delightful experience. I chose to sit just outside the restaurant in the roped off area, enjoying a martini and watching all of the people come and go. To soak up the beauty and grandness of this station’s art deco design, to watch people off on their travels, to dine on fine food with elegant service – it does not get any better than this. My lunch was straight up. The wait staff was professional, friendly and attentive. My martini was a good size, not stingy, and expertly made. I ordered a salad with smoked chicken, apples, pecans, and feta cheese, which was generously sized. Some people may say the menu is pricey. I would rather say it is one of the best values I have enjoyed in a long time. I would rather dine once at Traxx than a dozen times at any chain restaurant. If you want the best of the best, prepare to be delighted and entertained. Enjoy for a moment, an elegant experience that defines the civility of a lifestyle we are losing way too quickly.

Have not been to the restaurant lately but the seperate bar is way over priced. $6 for a can of PBR! I will not be back.

This is my third visit to Traxx, but the first time with my husband. When we arrived for our 7:00 reservation, the place was busy with a couple of large groups, so we chose to sit on the concourse just outside the restaurant. That ended up being a great choice, as we were able to enjoy the amazing architecture of Union Station, as well as people watch. The menu is rather limited, but the choices are superb. My husband had the wild salmon and I chose the pork chop. Both of us enjoyed our meal immensely. The food was prepared perfectly and the accompaniments were paired well. The server was working by herself, and the bar is across the way, so sometimes service and seating can be slow, but all in all we had a great time! We would definitely return!
