Let me start by saying we LOVE the St. Regis but Tre Dita is the most pretentious restaurant I have been to in a long time. Let me tell you my story!... My husband and I decided to share the porterhouse ($290). It came with a gorgeous arugula salad and smashed roasted potatoes.... all good so far.... my husband asked for mushrooms and the waiter told us "its busy in the kitchen, its Saturday night and Chef won't want to do that".... We requested that he asked the chef anyway..... The food arrived, no mushrooms, and we asked the delivery waiter if the mushrooms were coming to which he siad "you want mushrooms, of course, I'll ask chef... the original waiter came back and said "you see, this is why I told you it wasn't an option tonight.... chef says a side of the mushrooms will be $70..... When we explained that the dishes that have mushrooms in them were only running around $38 for the entire dish, he said "do you want the mushrooms or not"? When the staff become more important than the customer, you are heading down a slipper slope.

I truly wanted to enjoy this restaurant, as I had heard nothing but wonderful things about the food, the views, and the service. In many ways, those expectations were met. The food was delicious, and the service provided by our waiter, bussers, and the manager was top-notch. Unfortunately, the reason for this very negative review is our experience with the hostess staff at the front. My wife and I felt we were treated differently and unfairly by the three hostesses working that evening. I cannot say with certainty whether it was due to our age, our Asian race, or our appearance, but we were left with a deeply unsettling feeling of being prejudged. I understand that this restaurant is extremely popular and was fully booked, even on a Monday night. However, from the moment we arrived, there were concerning signs. Our menus were handed to a busser to seat us, and it felt as though the hostesses were reluctant to do so themselves. We were seated at a wobbly table that appeared out of place in the floor plan, positioned directly by the entrance, adjacent to Christmas garland décor, and in the midst of constant foot traffic. Feeling uncomfortable, I politely asked our busser whether it was possible to be seated at an empty table across the room. After checking, we were told that the table was reserved for a party of four and that there were no available tables in the main dining area. Reluctantly, we agreed to remain at the original table. As dinner service began, our waiter—who was very kind and professional—reviewed the menu and took our order. Shortly thereafter, I noticed again that the table was unstable and asked if it could be fixed so we could dine comfortably. While waiting for assistance, I observed one of the hostesses escorting guests into the main dining area. To my surprise, the table we had been told was reserved for four guests was then seated with a party of two. At that point, I requested to speak with the manager. He was extremely gracious, understanding, and promptly remedied the situation. In fact, every staff member we interacted with was respectful and professional, with the exception of the hostess staff. However, by the time we were reseated at a more appropriate table among the general dining area, the atmosphere had noticeably shifted. It felt as though the entire staff was walking on eggshells, and even our new waiter—who was equally courteous—appeared cautious. I had no desire to cause a scene. I simply wanted to move past the incident and enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done. For anyone who has experienced prejudice, it is an incredibly unsettling and painful feeling—to not be treated fairly or with the same respect afforded to others. While I genuinely enjoyed the food and appreciated the efforts of the manager and service staff to correct the situation, the tone set by the hostess staff that evening had a lasting impact on our experience. I had every intention of ordering another pasta dish—the handmade pasta was excellent—and dessert as well. However, after feeling sufficiently patronized, I chose to finish only what I had ordered and leave it at that. I truly wish I had been able to speak directly with the hostesses to understand why we were treated differently from other guests dining that evening. I sincerely hope future diners do not experience the same unfair treatment we encountered. Prejudice and unequal treatment are no laughing matter. Thank you for taking the time to read and understand my review.

We dined at Tre Dita for our girls trip to Chicago. The experience from start to finish was a 12/10! The views, the decor… all stunning! We had an amazing waiter, Antonio, that made the experience so great for us. We ordered 5 different pasta dishes for the table to share family style. We also ordered both breads, meatballs, and the Sea Bass and a steak! Every single thing came out cooked to perfection. The favorite overall was the Tortelli, but there wasn’t a dish on the table that we didn’t finish. If we’re ever in Chicago again, this will definitely be on our itinerary!

Talk about dining in luxury. My wife and I always enjoyed spending an evening at the long since closed Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. But Tre Dita takes fine dining to another level. Located in the St. Regis Hotel at 401 East Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago, a 101-story skyscraper in the new River East neighborhood, Tre Dita is a Tuscan steakhouse and pasta restaurant from Los Angeles chef Evan Funke and the Chicago-based Lettuce Entertain You empire. It features luxurious trappings and a luxurious marble bar with extensive bar food that includes bruschetta, prawns, meatballs, potatoes, salads, antipasti, pasta, even swordfish, yellowfin tuna, prime ribeye, filet mignon and New York strip steak. Housed on the second floor, Tre Dita still offers stunning views of the city and Lake Michigan with its 44-foot high ceilings and 40-foot high windows. The dining room is open from 5 to 9 daily and the bar is open from 4 to 10 Sunday through Thursday and 4 to 11 on Friday and Saturday. We started with classic bruschetta with marinated cherry tomatoes, garlic, basil and extra virgin olive oil, braised beef short rib meatballs and blue prawns. As expected, Branzino is on the menu. My favorite. Grilled Adriatic sea bass with artichokes, shaved fennel, mint and lemon. Delicious. With Yukon Gold potatoes and braised Tuscan kale with garlic and peperoncino. My wife chose an eight-ounce Creekstone filet mignon with sea salt and extra virgin olive oil with Yukon Gold potatoes and canellini beans with prosciutto brodo, garlic and bread crumbs. For dessert, there is nothing better than tiramisu. Tre Dita opened in May but already has managed to attract an impressive list of clientele who appreciate fine dining on a majestic scale.

Quick summary: yes, this is a pricey spot (what did you expect at the St. Regis?) The Italian-focused menu is delicious and freshly prepared, with a variety of pastas, meats, and small plates (that are still a good size and shareable.) Stunning setting in a high-ceilinged room with Lake Michigan views. Friendly, professional service. We were two couples celebrating anniversaries, and were thrilled to come here for a special night. Up front: the food was all delicious and well-prepared. Portions are a good size, so you might want to share some items, especially if ordering a steak. The foccacia is pillow-y soft and something you must have ($11.) Each couple split a salad of various fresh greens and/or panzanella ($21 and $26 respectively,) which was ample to split. We also did some splitting of the fish dishes (swordfish, arctic char...) $40's) and the pastas ($30's, mostly, although one ordered it as a main course.) The gnudi "pasta" was an eye-opener - sort of like gnocci, but make with spinach and cheese, not potato - light as air and so delish. The side of fagioli stracotto was also great. Sides are about $12. We were pretty full about to skip dessert, but had coffees or espresso ($7-$8.) The management heard it was our anniversaries, and gave us complimentary chocolate mousse-like desserts (small, but really - we were full - but these are a delight for a couple of bites, and a very nice thought. Full bar and deep wine list, mostly above $100, but very nice bottles. And yes, we started with a $200 bottle of Pol Roger, and saluted Mr. Churchill (whose favorite champage was Pol Roger.) But the salutes should also go to the friendly, helpful, professional wait staff - always there when you needed them. The room is wonderful - stunning setting with high ceilings and lake view, and a blessedly controlled level of sound. You can have a conversation with other people at your table. Try to snag a window-side table. Admittedly, the price point is high, but worth it. Would love to return and see what is next on the menu.

I was a little leery having heard how this is the hottest place in town, impossible to get a table, such a beautiful room, etc... too often these places don't live up to the hype. Not here! Tre Dita is hitting on all cylinders. Wow! Absolutely loved the entire dining experience. I loved the understated elegance of the beautiful room and the top level service during the meal. They don't act like this place is a big deal. They just go about their service with great professionalism and pride in what they do. There's a nice connection with the guest. You never feel rushed. We were in good hands with our professional and accommodating waiter, Danilo... he made us feel he was taking care of our every need. Our sommelier, Vernon, was also fantastic. The food? Everything was insanely great! We focused on the pastas that chef Evan Funke is well known for. The CARAMELLE DI MAIS with Michigan Sweet Corn and Parmigiano Reggiano was a show stopper. The texture of the pasta so velvety, the flavors delicate... as it's seasonal, don't miss this dish if it's still on the menu! PICI CACIO e PEPE with Pecorino Croccolo, Black Pepper was fantastic as well, and perfect in contrast... a more traditional dish, but loved the chewy, heavier noodles of goodness, perfectly seasoned. Seems like you can't go wrong with any of the pastas here! I like that they position the steaks as dishes to share, slicing the meats before presenting to the table... like you're at a family dinner. The Wood Fire Grill, along with their method of cooking, added some magic to the TAGLIATA di MANZO, a 8oz Prime Ribeye Cap seasoned with Sea Salt, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This is a cut you don't see often, and it was amazing. Very rich, buttery, super tender... we loved it. Paired the steak with an order of their PATATE FRITTE Yukon Gold Potatoes with Rosemary, Wild Fennel Pollen... perfect! The wine list is well chosen. I was happy to see the 2022 Grattamacco Rosso, a Tuscan red from Bolgheri (30% Cabernet, 30% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Sangiovese and 5% Petit Verdot). Of course, as you'd expect, really nice wine glasses. Kudos to management, Chef Funke and the entire team for what they are doing here. Can't wait to return and explore the menu further. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I recently had an opportunity to celebrate my birthday at the fine restaurant and it did not disappoint me. Everything about my experience was amazing. The service was exceptional, the cocktails were amazing, the wine list was incredible, the ambiance was lovely, the view was very nice. The menu offers a good selection of vegetarian pastas which is perfect for me and all the pastas are freshly made on the premises. It has a really good choice of steaks. My hats off to the whole team for making my experience a very special one. If you are ever in the Chicago, this is a must.

I avoid new restaurants for at least a month, but I was anxious about to try Tre Dita. And after only open for 1 week they knocked it out of the park. The service was exceptional from start to finish. The food is unparalleled and the Bistecca Alla Fiorentina is not to be missed. Yes, it’s expensive but you will not regret it. Seriously the best steak we have ever had. And the pasta and the focaccia and the everything. Outstanding!

My recent dining experience at Tre Dita on 17 May was profoundly disappointing, especially in light of a previous positive experience in September of last year. While the food was excellent, the service was unacceptable, marred by what appeared to be a disturbing pattern of age discrimination. We had a reservation for four, but upon arrival, we were directed to a table that was woefully inadequate – barely 30 inches in circumference and height, with child-sized seating. This table's location, sandwiched between a server station and the restroom/kitchen entrance, was also highly undesirable. When we requested a larger table nearby, we were initially told it was reserved for a party of five. This explanation was dubious, as the table in question consisted of a small loveseat and two small chairs, with a table only marginally larger than our own. After a 45-minute wait, during which we were only offered water (no offer of drinks, bread, or appetizers), we informed the server we were leaving. Only then did the explanation for the other table change, and we were finally seated there. However, this did not remedy the situation. Throughout the evening, we observed younger patrons being offered superior seating options, even when their party size was disproportionate to the table. Older patrons, meanwhile, were consistently directed to tables similar to the inadequate one we were initially given. We witnessed other diners complaining about this, but they were not offered any alternatives, despite the fact that open tables were clearly available. Notably, the "party of five" for the table we were initially denied never materialized. Beyond the seating issues, the service remained abysmal. No manager ever approached our table to apologize for the initial seating debacle. We purchased two bottles of wine, yet were left to fill our own glasses. My wife's white wine disappeared after only two glasses were poured, and was never replaced, though we were certainly charged for it. The bar service area was chaotic, with employees appearing disengaged and uncertain in their roles.

Underwhelmed given the hype. The fresh pastas are not better than places like Torchio, but are more expensive. Appetizer meatballs not fine; the thin breading is sticky, the interior mushy. The most interesting sounding dessert on the menu has a fun presentation, average flavors. Standard service.

Outstanding service and staff. Great ambiance and setup. Drinks and food are up to the mark. It is slightly loud and difficult to get reservation.

Simply, in the top 10 restaurants I’ve ever eaten at, and I’ve done a lot of eating at restaurants, worldwide. Three cheers to the chef, the entire staff, whoever designed this place, and every person that works there. I can’t say enough good things about our dining experience from the time we arrived until the time we left. If there is a place in Chicago that provides better service and incredibly good Italian food in an upscale but cozy venue I’d like to know where it is. Every single person that waited on us was a consummate professional, very friendly, and added to the dining experience. I’ll attach some photos of the food because trying to describe the food would detract from its amazing presentation and taste. Superb! I will say, however, that the pasta was homemade, everything was perfectly prepared, and everything was a taste sensation. The shrimp and steak were world class, but so was everything … Among the best food I have tasted in longer than I can remember. This is a must go to restaurant while you’re in Chicago although I would strongly encourage you to make a reservation early. It is a pricey meal and worth every penny! Just go!

Thanks to a recommendation I did Tre Dita Restaurant, it was even better than described! Everything just makes your taste buds leap for joy! Very upscale and top-tier vibe. Service was fabulous!

Five of us dined here. Lovely evening with attentive service and gorgeous views and a sumptuous dining room. We were welcomed with a very small glass of vermouth. A kind gesture setting the tone for a special dining experience. I especially recommend the lemon pasta and pasta with duck rags. Both were deliciously sublime. The streak and whole fish were competently prepared. Desert was mostly fabulous with lemon ball cookies both tart and sweet and extremely moist. The tiramisu was an 8 on my scale out of 10. The chocolate disk capping the desert, while decorative, detracted from the lusciously creamy and almost (in my mind) perfectly balanced finished product. The only downside to the evening was that people don’t seem to dress more formally for the occasion of fine dining. Next thing you know the younger set will show up in their pajamas or sweats. Advice to establishment: require a dress code.

I had made a reservation at Tre Dita for my birthday celebration and I could not get a seat in the dining room, so they said they could seat us at a table in the bar lounge and we could order off the dinner menu. I figured it was not what I wanted, but I was hoping it would be ok. The restaurant only books out for 7 days and I have read other reviews where people actually wait until 1 minute after midnight when they post the next day's available reservations, to try and get a table in the dining room. We did not know this at the time and by 6am that morning, the dining room was fully booked. So they know what they are doing when it comes to marketing. When we arrived, we were seated in the bar lounge at a very small table for 3 people and it was not good at all. It was hard to eat because the table was so low. It was just awkward. There were a few tables that looked ok, but ours was not one of them unfortunately. The food at Tre Dita was ok, but definitely overpriced and not worth the expense! We also tried to use Lettuce Entertain You Points and they have implemented a policy that you cannot use points after 3pm on a Saturday. We were beyond frustrated that we could not use points. We all agreed that we would not return to Tre Dita, mainly because the food is just too overpriced for it just being mediocre. The service was excellent! I can't remember the name of our female server unfortunately, but she was super nice and really explained everything well and made suggestions regarding items on the menu.

Amazing Dinner! We were guests at the St. Regis for our anniversary and able to get a table for 2. The ambiance is a modern 1920s feel with wood, leather, velvet. It’s definitely a nice design and a warm golden feeling. We tried the white focaccia bread, a nice salad, several different drinks from the specialty menu. The pastas here are superb! We had the linguini al limone. We wanted to try several items and the entire menu is made for sharing. Also tried the veal milanese and the ribeye. The steak is fantastic! The service is impeccable and Brad Gertz, the manager came by to check on our table. There’s a reason it’s one tough reservation to get. Highly recommended!

Really outstanding pastas and the 60 day age ribeye was excellent. A little expensive but we shared it three ways so it worked out. I wouldn't hesitate recommending tre Dita for anyone planning a special meal.

I was worried that Tre Dita wouldn't live up to the hype, especially after playing the reservation game that is annoying. You have to log into Open Table 7 days prior at midnight. I tried at exactly midnight and the only reservation available was at 5:30 in the bar area. I called that day and they were able to move us into the main room and I'm so glad we ate there. The room is stunning! One of the most beautiful dining rooms I've been in. The lighting and music level were perfect. The focaccia bread was melt in your mouth good and the short rib meatballs were delicious. We each ordered a different pasta dish and shared. We loved everything, including the vanilla dessert and I don't normally like Italian desserts. The pacing of the meal and our server were spot on. It is expensive, but I didn't think any more than other upscale, Chicago restaurants. There were two slight negatives. The wine pours were good, but we called the martinis baby martinis because the glass was only slightly bigger than a cordial. Certainly not worth it, so we switched to wine. The hostess had a bit of an attitude. We had a reservation for 4 but one of our party was sick so only 3 of us were there. She seemed put off by that. Also, we walked through the bar area and it was very loud, so we were so happy that we had been in the main room. Other than that, we had a great experience and will definitely go back!

Went for a dinner celebrating a wedding just under 30 people, cocktails and dinner. Getting to the room did require a bit of a trudge up the stairs but the room had a magnificent view and was well appointed and set. Excellent service- attentive but not intrusive. Cocktails expertly crafted. Remarkable wines from Italy at the right temperature in good glass. Menu Italian, finest ingredients, sauces right, handmade pasta, Adjusted service to our pace . Well done.

My wife and I have recently dined at Tre Dita and, unfortunately, our experience was far from what I had hoped for. While the service was great and the staff were attentive, the overall dining experience left much to be desired. Firstly, the pasta dishes were inconsistent. One piece of lasagna bastarda was undercooked, doughy, and hard to cut with a fork, which was quite disappointing. On the other hand, the swordfish steak was amazing and cooked to perfection. However, the experience was significantly marred by the back server with a serious case of the sniffles who brought out the fish, making the meal quite off-putting and distorted the experience. Overall, despite the great service, the inconsistencies in the food and the hygiene issues with the staff made for a disappointing dining experience.

We really enjoyed Tre Dita after a long day of touristing. Although we were still dressed as tourists, we were welcomed in and had a great table overlooking the river and the skyline. The dinners were excellent with fresh hand-made pasta (you can see them making it as you come in) with nice variety to the menu. The only little glitch was our server who didn't really seem he wanted to be there. We didn't hear about the specials and we had a tough time flagging him down for a glass of wine. I don't think this is a problem with the whole of Tre Dita as we saw other tables receiving excellent attentive service, just not our table. Yes, it is expensive but we thought considering the quality of the food and the fantastic atmosphere, a good value.

There are many restaurants to choose from in Chicago but I really wanted to try the Morel mushroom that I saw was served in the spinach gnudi since my family and I would forage for these when I was a little girl. Unfortunately, the Morel wasn't being served at the time of our visit but Chanterelles were served instead. The gnudi was the softest most flavorful dish I could hope to eat. We also ordered a special that evening that is not normally served on the menu, a ravioli that included freshly grated truffle mushrooms on top and again, so much flavor. The swordfish was delicious too. Everything we ate was a delight. The service was amazing and staff took time to educate us on the mushrooms and our meals. We never felt rushed even though all tables were full and a stream of people continued to show up. I highly recommend this restaurant, staff, and Chef for creating such a beautiful sensory experience. The only other restaurant I've eaten at that compares is Sentido Norte Provincia de Guanacaste, Las Catalinas. The cumulative effect of all the senses being treated at once really does it for me.

I was visiting Chicago from the UK for my daughter’s birthday. We have visited this restaurant before. My daughter booked for her birthday only to find we were sat looking at the kitchen with our backs to the windows ! I asked to move near to the window where there were at least three vacant tables for the whole time we were there. Despite this we were still seated away from the window with a poor view. The service was not attentive with the waiter even apologising for not bringing the wine to the table sooner. Listening to the tables nearby the menu was described in detail and the wine was poured when empty which was not the case for us.I seriously don’t mind pouring my own wine but was disappointed by the service that we personally received for what should have been a good experience. There was also a lot of sediment in the wine bottle. We paid the bill in cash and the waiter said he would bring the change but didn’t assuming it was for the service charge. A disappointing experience for what should have been a special occasion. A lot could be improved with regards to customer service and for treating all customers equally. On a positive note they did bring a desert for my daughter’s birthday. A lot of room for improvement for a restaurant that could be tip top

We went to Tre Dita for our anniversary, hoping for a special evening. Instead, it turned into a complete disaster. We had requested a window table. When we arrived, they showed us to a table in a hallway. After some conversation , they moved us to a "better" table — still nowhere near a window. We brought a special bottle of wine — over $200 retail, if you could even find it — knowing corkage was $50. Fine. But apparently, the $50 doesn’t even cover pouring the wine? We had to pour it ourselves. The food itself was good, but not remotely good enough to make up for the service failures. The ultimate insult: we ordered two glasses of cabernet. There was only one cabernet listed by the glass on the menu. Instead, they brought something else — and when the bill came (mid-glass!), we found out they'd served us wine at $74 per glass! When we questioned it, the waiter passed us off to a manager, who “generously” agreed to charge $19 per glass instead. Then — unbelievably — they took away our half-finished glasses. Were they planning to resell the wine to someone else? The whole night was an embarrassing, overpriced mess. What was supposed to be a beautiful anniversary dinner turned into a disaster. We live in Chicago — there are so many better places to spend your money and have a real fine dining experience.

My friend and I made a 4:30 reservation for a table in the bar for a pre-theatre early dinner. We shared three pasta dishes, which was more than enough. We thought they were all delicious, as were the cocktails. I will say the atmosphere, as well as the OUTSTANDING service made the experience extra special. They have mastered the ability to cater to your every need, without being imposing. Great job service team!

The wife made the reservations, party of 4. We Valet the car $38. This is an Italian Tuscany dinning experience. I like how the elevator system has 5 options for you to pick on the touch screen. Once selected it tells you what elevator to go too, there are no buttons to push so you end up exactly where you’re going. Me and the wife were a little early so we took a seat at the bar. The bar area was very nice with plenty of different seating options. One could debate color options or even decor but I liked the atmosphere and vibe. The bar staff was very friendly and informative, all wearing white jackets and looking very professional. They have a very nice selection of spirits, you have to imagine an average drink is going to cost you around $20 or so. Are full party was available and we took a b line to the table. Seating was nice also, I loved the large windows allowing you to view out over the Chicago river while dinning. Waite staff was also excellent, explained everything and help us with a few options we were debating over. All and all we had a ln excellent time, service was on point, food was excellent and the bill was not bad. Would I go back with my wife yes, would I go with friends yes, would I go to have a drink yes. I hope this helps you in considering this restaurant Oh!! They hand make their pasta! It was amazing 🤩

The location is stunning, decor, view are an experience on its own. I was expecting better food. It is good but recipes are very simple and nothing is exceptional. Appetizer nothing special, pasta ok and meats good but very expensive. Service was ok but not to level expected for such a high end place. We ordered several desserts which were the best part of the meal and the waiter brought us warm plates right out of the dishwasher? Nice experience but not a place I would return for food or service.

Classy upscale restaurant at the St Regis Hotel on Wacker Dr in Chicago The two areas serve the same Italian menu but we choose the more casual Bar area. The service was done quite professionally & properly by Griffin. Food was excellent and good variety of Italian fare. We shared two pasta dishes however the Barrata Salad stole the show.

If I'm not mistaken, this space in the glitzy St. Regis Hotel at 401 East Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago, on the south bank of the Chicago River, between Michigan Avenue and Du Sable Lake Shore Drive, has been occupied by other restaurants since the building was constructed. I know. I've been here before. But this is more special. And memorable. For several reasons. Mostly, Tre Dita is a first-class Italian restaurant that celebrates Tuscan cuisine under the stewardship of noted chef Evan Funke. And it's a creation of the Chicago-based Lettuce Entertain You empire. LEY has over 120 restaurants in its stable and Tre Dita is one of the latest. LEY knows how to do things right. Open from 4 to 9:30 Sunday through Thursday and 4 to 10:30 on Friday and Saturday, it features an open hearth grill and lots of impressive accents. Not to mention impeccable service. I started with classic bruschetta with marinated tomatoes, garlic, basil and extra virgin oil. I knew I liked this restaurant the minute I noticed Branzino, my favorite fish, is on the menu. The light but meaty and tasty Adriatic sea bass is grilled with artichokes, shaved fennel, mint and lemon. I was introduced to Branzino at a Florida restaurant several years ago and it is appearing on more and more menus. I wish I could say the same for profiteroles. For dessert, I enjoyed a large portion of classic tiramisu with mascarpone, espresso and marsala. When was the last time you visited an Italian restaurant that didn't feature tiramisu?

Tiny dinner from the tea party theme of Alice and Wonderland. If you want to donate money ahead of time for your meal you might as well. The service was awful unless your alone. The staff was not trained to handle lots of people. Each cocktail gets smaller as you order. The average glass size is made for shots not cocktails. The cost needs to be lower since your getting a taster not a full cocktail. Each item ordered gives the person one item. The meal is so small that, you might as well eat before you go to this place. This concept needs to be kept for tea time not dinner. I or my party will never return.

The restaurant is in an incredible location right on the waterfront, cozy atmosphere and very professional Service. A must if you are in Chicago

Interestingly I was actually not able to make it to Tre Dita at all and this review is about a visit that was not there. We wanted a classy dinner for my son who was graduating that weekend and with my family. I tried booking a table but was told I cannot book more than a week out and i should call. When i called, I was told the same answer and was told that the booking opens at 12 midnight CST 7 days prior to when I want to book it. I was happy to go on 30 May, 31 May or 1 Jun. So on 23 May, at midnight CST, i logged in. My wife, son and I logged in simultaneously 5 mins before the time. From 1155 PM to midnight, it kept telling me that I am more than 7 days away and cannot book. But sharp at midnight CST, when we logged in, there were no slots available virtually. The same thing happened a day later and another day later. If this is not suspicious, what is it? How come we are not allowed to book 7 days in advance but the second the bookings open, all slots are already pre-reserved. I have been to several nice places much in demand but never seen a place like this where (a) they will not take bookings more than 7 days in advance (b) exactly 7 days in advance, nothing will be available (c) no person will be willing to answer the phone, help or even respond to emails. I am sure Tre Dita is a fine restaurant but with this kind of snootiness, not sure how long an establishment can remain really precious.

This was a horrible experience from the outset. The host could not find a reservation that the concierge at the hotel I was staying at made. They made no attempt to be helpful. I called the concierge at my hotel, and they were able to talk to the restaurant management and resolve this. The lead host or maître-d' came over and said they could offer me a table but I had to vacate the table by 7:15 pm (mind you this was originally a 5:30pm reservation and it was now 6pm). So, I was treated like this was my problem, and I had to help them manage their mistake. I should have walked out at this point, but there was still the promise of good food. The table they had for me was in the "Tower." We made a comment about all the stairs up to the Tower, and the host said, "Oh, I probably should have mentioned that." You think? Aside from the stairs, you could hear the kitchen staff yelling at each other immediately below. Ambience! Equally, the wait staff got the message that they needed to rush us out to the door as that it how they operated. Unfortunately, the promise of good food never materialized. The linguine al limon, which was recommended by our server, tasted like biting into a lemon. All you could taste was lemon. The tiramisu was heavy on the booze. I have been to Tuscany. I had food there that surely puts this restaurant to shame, and it didn't cost nearly as much. I can only assume that many diners here are retroactively justifying the experience based on the price they paid. But price is no indication of quality. And Tre Dita not only makes that point, they underline it.

The restaurant’s ambiance strikes the perfect note of rustic elegance. Warm lighting, soft music, and attentive servers who know the menu inside out make you feel like royalty. The menu features handmade pasta that’s delicate and flavorful. For steak, this place is a revelation. Their Bone-In Ribeye, arrives perfectly seared with a crust that’s smoky and savory. Cut into it, and the interior is a juicy medium rare that almost glows.

Luxury! What an amazing place! The view was breathtaking! The food was so tasty! :) Everything was delicious and posh! I will certainly be back!

Visited this restaurant twice now. Overall it has good food and good service in the restaurant, although some of the courses were rushed. However, on both occasions we had to wait almost 30 minutes beyond our reservation time to be seated with no apology or explanation from the Maitre d or host who is arrogant and dismissive with guests. Expect better from a high-end restaurant than this, especially at a St. Regis hotel.

I only learned that the resturant had just opened after dining there, but that explains some things. We had reservations (made a week in advance (as you can't make them any earlier) for 7:45 and we were seated nearly 45 minutes later on a Wednesday night. Five of us were delegated to 2 benches to sit. No invite to sit in the bar, no apologies. When we were finally seated, it took time to get water and silverware. The place was packed. Our server was lovely, knowledgeable, accommodating and very, very personable. Once the ball got rolling the food came out fairly quickly (except for the risotto which was comped because of the delay). The food itself was delicious, unique and beautifully presented. The decor and city views were impressive. They definitely have growing pains that you can feel -- they were overwhelmed with people and seemingly not enough tables for reserved guests despite being an enormous restaurant, some of the hosts had the "look" but not the warmth to grace the hospitality business. For me it was a one time experience (I don't dine so fancily normally but it was a milestone birthday for a relative...) and overall a lovely night. Our family member who we were celebrating felt very special being there. If you are thinking of going, I'd wait a couple of months for them to iron out their growing pains. Also note, it was over $400 for 5 people (no alcohol).

Tre Dita Cucina Tosana is the upscale, intimate, classy and trendy Italian restaurant at 401 East Wacker Drive, in the luxurious St. Regis Hotel, that has been created by award-winning chef Evan Funke. Tre Dita is Italian for "three fingers," the precise thickness of Tre Dita's signature steak, the Bistecca Florentina. But Funke offers many delicious Tuscan options, all cooked over his open-hearth grill. Open from 4 to 10 Sunday through Thursday and 4 to 11 on Friday and Saturday, Tre Dita checks all the boxes for a superb fine dining experience. I started with warm, soft focaccia topped with rosemary and sea salt, classic bruschetta with garlic, tomatoes, basil and extra virgin oil and blue prawns with salsa verde and lemon. For my entree, I was presented with a delicate problem: Which one, eight-ounce Creekstone filet mignon or Branzino? I opted for my favorite Mediterranean sea bass, grilled Adriatic Branzino, with artichokes, shaved fennel, mint and lemon. With Yukon Gold potatoes and Cannellini beans with prosciutto, garlic an bread crumbs. Given the chance, I rarely pass up Branzino. It has become increasingly popular, especially at high-end restaurants, that I am intrigued to see how various chefs prepare it. Evan Funke knows how. For dessert, I chose classic tiramisu with mascarpone, marsala and espresso.

Apparently this is one of the hot new restaurants in Chicago. When calling for a reservation they told us they release tables 7 days ahead and to call at 12:01 am 7 days ahead in order to get a table. We called as suggested, all tables in restaurant were booked so we booked a table in the bar. We had high expectations which did not pan out. Ordered a martini which was the worst martini I have ever had. Ordered extra dry, came out with a greenish tinge and all I could taste was olive juice. The meal was OK. The pasta, which the chef is known for, was excellent. The rest of the meal was mediocre at best. The focaccia was very strange. It was similar to a large, very oily Parker House roll. Not like any focaccia I have ever eaten whether here or in Italy. I was excited to try the anchovies. The presentation was beautiful but the taste was very fishy and the sauce was green and oily. Not much taste other than salt. The meatball appetizer was good but not outstanding. We opted not to get dessert based on the previous dishes. They have a lot of servers but the service did not reflect the amount of people working there. Not worth staying up till midnight to get a reservation.

Abbondanza! Meaning "life of plenty!" My husband's birthday dinner was exceptional. Our high-touch experience with Darma serving in the Bar area (perfect Aperol non-alc cocktail with a signature ice cube!), Josiah as lead server (entirely knows his stuff/super personality), Bradley as one of Lettuce Entertain You company's top managers - we'll be talking about our visit for quite a long while! Every detail explained, conversed about - matched with sensational & authentic ingredients, put us right back in Tuscany. (we'd like a pair of those gorgeous Italian green leather chairs!) Of course every luxury hotel should have a Concierge life Mark Kraemer. Mark secured a "windows to the world" table - in architect Jeanne Gang's Chicago masterpiece. This was our 2nd visit -- already planning for #3!

Don’t celebrate Birthday at Tre Dita! Food is Ok, but not impressive. But with my bill 400$ for 2 main plates and wine at the bar, I didn’t get the expected service and Birthday dessert for my boyfriend. The staff just don’t care.
Nice food spoiled by rushed delivery of food.
We went on Sunday afternoon to Bar Tre Dita for the "La Merenda Toscana", which they describe as "La Merenda is a cherished tradition of leisurely afternoon snacking that embodies the heart of Tuscany". However, we were seated at 2pm and by 2.25pm we had already been served all of the savory dishes, so much for "LEISURELY" !!!!! If it wasn't for the fact that we'd ordered a bottle of champagne, our entire "leisurely afternoon" of snacking would have been over with in half and hour. Everything we were served was lovely but the pacing was totally off. We were only half way through eating our first course of cold appetizers when the second course of hot dishes was served. between the two of us we had 9 plates of food on the table at the same time. The food was good, the staff attentive, the room is nice but we felt incredibly rushed and cheated of what we hoped would be a leisurely Sunday afternoon.
