Well while visiting LA we discover trejos tacos and boy we were very happy with the tacos and burritos. Drink were strong and service was friendly. I would definitely visit again next time visiting LA

We went here for dinner and it was so delicious. I got the vegetarian burrito and my boyfriend got the churros and they were the best churros and burritos we have had! I had 2 margarita’s and they were so so good and so strong! I loved them! The waitress was lovely and attentive. When we come back to LA we will be coming back. Hopefully we may see Danny Trejo this time!

Wandering the streets of Hollywood and we came upon Trejos Cantina.. What a delightful gem!!! Food was excellent, service was great, Trejos home brew craft beer was stellar!! And to top it off, Danny "Machete" Trejos was in the house! What a lovely human being he is! Spent time talking to people, giving hugs! I got the distinct impression that this is not something he does infrequently.. It appeared that he knew the regulars and sits down and breaks bread... I highly recommend a stop here. We had Tortilla soup, street corn, fried fish taco, jackfruit taco and churros!!!

Great food, great vibe, great staff, great beer (we're desperate to bring Trejo's cerveza to the UK). I can definitely recommend this place.

Came here for a quick bite while waiting to check into our hotel. The pulled jackfruit tacos were amazing! Service was fast and great prices

The chips were awesome. The service was great. The food was average. The carne asada tasted steamed. The Carnitas Taco tasted more like pulled pork. Carnitas are suppose to have some texture to them. The Guva Lime drink was good. I would not go out if my way to come back.

We had tacos for dinner and loved them! The street tacos are only $2-3 during happy hour but they are very small, it's probably better to just get regular tacos. We also had the OG and Cartel margaritas. Both were delicious, the Cartel had a zesty salt rim. Our server was great and super knowledgeable. The restaurant itself was fun and eclectic with a nice bar seating area, tables for small and large parties, and outdoor patio seating.

This place is fantastic. We went on a Tuesday so they have a special for....taco Tuesday! Of course. Traditional tacos and also traditional with a modern twist. You will not be disappointed!

Excellent food and service. Tried Trejo's branded beer, the Pork Taquitos and the spicy chicken quesadillas, all were really, really good!

Having been a fan of Danny Trejo for years I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try out his food when we walked by and I noticed the Cantina. I'd actually go so far as to say that the food at Trejo's Cantina was among the best food we ate while in the States. Great mexican food at a great price, well worth a visit!

We loved this place and will be back. Great service, nice casual vibe and fabulous food. We had nachos to start, up there with the best we’ve ever had. Then steak asada burrito and steak tacos - sooooo tasty! This is exactly what a Mexican restaurant should be like. Don’t miss it!

I'm a vegan, my boyfriend is not. I ordered one of each vegan taco and was very pleased. My top two were the black pepper tofu and the young jackfruit. SO GOOD. And filling. My boyfriend got a steak burrito and enjoyed it but says he prefers the tacos (which he had at the other location last summer). The strawberry lemonade is amazing. If we lived in the area, we'd go here every week. Thanks, Danny Trejo, for creating a place where everyone feels welcome!!

Been here a few times with family and friends and the food is great and the atmosphere fun. Danny also stops by from time to time and sat and talked with us. What a cool dude!

Perfect place to eat after a long day at Universal Studios. Ordered the Steak Asada Burrito with a frozen Margarita wife ordered Roasted Cauliflower, for dessert order the homemade Churros (Amazing). Being from Texas and spoiled with some great Tex-Mex food Trejo's Cantina truly hit the Spot and will definitely be back! Rachel our waitress was cordial. The only reason I don't give it a 5 is lack of parking !

Trejo’s Cantina is excellent. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the food is delicious and healthy and their drink menu is great. We started with excellent margaritas which were followed by chips and an outstanding salsa as well as a terrific guacamole. For the main dish I opted for a Mexican salad with kale, tomatoes, cucumbers and grilled shrimp which turned out to be excellent. My wife opted for fish tacos that she could not stop raving about. The icing on the cake was that Danny Trejo stopped by to say hello. He could not have been nicer. I highly recommend this restaurant.

It's worth stopping by just to get a T Shirt that says Trejo's Tacos or Trejo's Cerveza or Trejo's Cantina with Danny Trejo's mug on the front. And if you don't know who Danny Trejo is, well, that's just sad for you. In all seriousness my wife randomly picked this place because she wanted tacos - and she has no idea who Danny Trejo is. We (my wife and 17 year old vegetarian son) got 2 apps - cheesy bean dip and guac and chips and both were fantastic. My wife went with Mushroom Asada burrito (not "messy" whic means covered with melted cheese) and my son got the Mushroom Asada bowl. Both enjoyed their version of the Mushroom Asada. I got a Chicken Tikka taco - fabulously spicy - and a Beef Barbacoa taco which was absolutely ordinary. We tacked on a beer and a spicy margarita and came out around $20 per person. The T shirt cost more than 2 tacos and a beer. Ambiance is fun and lively and the service was great. Would go here again (when I return to LA).

I'd love to sit here and chill for a couple hours, drinking Micheladas and savoring shrimp or fried chicken tacos with friends, but the tables and chairs are designed to make you eat and run. The food really is great, but it seems as though they want you in and out--a fast turnover rate may be good for business, but so is loyalty.

A cute place with very good horchata and cold brew coffee. The chips and salsa were great - salty chips with lime zest dipped into a very tasty, spicy salsa. We tried the cauliflower vegan tacos which had a good flavor despite an odd texture from the street corn. But of the three types of tacos we tried, it was our favorite. The jackfruit was a little off-putting due to the texture and the mix of sweet/salty taste combinations. But we were glad to try something different. The steak asada, however, was disappointing - the tiny bits of charred steak were chewy and the small amount of pesto was flavorless. The other drawback is that the cantina looked dark and closed from the road. Thought the place wasn't even open in the afternoon. But on the positive side, the fried chicken tacos I saw on another table looked yummy. Perhaps next time. Reason for the very good rating is the unique tacos and the Trejo's name.

I have been to this place a few times. I have aleays enjoyed the food here. The las time I went I also tried a margarita flight. It was really tasty. I've been to this location a few times when visiting my siblings who lives in LA.

We stopped in for a late but quick dinner bc we were in the area and ordered street style tacos and some apps. The street corn was delicious as were the chicharrones. The carnitas were especially juicy (not dry) and I loved the Baja fried fish taco. The tacos only come with one tortilla that is slightly bigger than street tacos. My friend had the jackfruit tacos and they were too sweet for my taste. All in all it was a fun night out with friends.

This place was good, but I wouldn’t necessarily choose it over the many other amazing places in LA. Nothing particularly stood out to me about it.

We love Trejo so we had to eat here, food is great, Margaritas were fantastic, service was great, overall a really good experience. Short walk to Hollywood Blvd and the walk of fame.

We came here for an early dinner before a party. Although we arrived at 5:30, it was already filling up. The interior is fun, lively, and not too noisy. The servers are friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the food is good, especially for those of us who like our food spicy. We had the chips and guacamole first. Chips were hot and fresh, and the guacamole was zesty and spicy, with sliced jalapeños on top. It was a far cry from the bland, generic mashed avocados other places call “guacamole.” We then shared the chicken quesadilla, which was stuffed full of chicken, juicy, and with enough spice to keep it interesting. The aioli was fine, but I liked it better with the house hot sauce. We each had an avocado taco. I had a steak asado taco, and my husband had the beef barbacoa taco. We asked for them on flour tortillas, because even though we like spicy food a lot, evidently we also still suffer from terminal whiteness. But the server was happy to accommodate this request. The tacos were great! The avocado was fried and served with a spicy chipotle sauce that delivered tons of flavor. The two beef tacos were juicy without being greasy, and did not need much sauce; the flavor stood on its own. We thought we were finished, and even paid the check, but then the table next to us got churros, and we had to order a plate for our table. Worth it. They came piping hot to the table, with chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces. I liked both sauces, but honestly, neither was as good as just the hot churro by itself. It melted into my mouth like a burst of sugary love. The perfect end to a very good meal. I definitely recommend for a nice, casual, and indulgent meal.

Totally loved this place! Horchata and strawberry Fresca were delish. Enjoyed the blackened salmon taco as well as the shrimp. The brown sauce on the shrimp are spicy so if ordering for kids ask that they offer the shrimp plain. Great service, good food. A must try.

The Service: Very attentive. Staffs are very friendly, always have smile on their face. The Food: LOVE LOVE LOVE their new taco menu~ Chicken Tikka Masala Taco - Spanish Rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, Pico de Gallo, Escabeche mint crema on flour tortilla. Cheeseburger Taco - Ground beef, Taco seasoning, Nacho cheese sauce, Cheese blend, Red onion, Cilantro, Cherry tomatoes and Bacon. Mexi Falafel Taco - Kale, Cashew Cream and Pickled onions. Super creative creation, it is not just Mexican flavor anymore, they combine with other cuisines. That is what LA all about... multi-cultural! Think outside the box~ Good job Chef!!! The Parking: Plaza parking lot and street metered parking (free after 8pm)

We went by this place and decided to give it a shot... 2 families with kids. The place was very busy but they could arrange 2 tables in less than 5 minutes which was great. Food was very good, we've had the Grilled Chicken Bowl, the Chicken Taco, Chips & Guacamole. Was a very good experience!

The jackfruit is a multiple fruit, composed of hundreds to thousands of individual flowers, and the fleshy petals are eaten. The fruit is huge! I had read that a jackfruit had a similar texture and flavor of pulled pork. I couldn't wait to try it. My son and I went for lunch yesterday and it turned out to be our favorite taco! Absolutely sensational. Also, it's vegan. The Baja Fish with mango salsa was a close second. Their chips and salsa and their guacamole are also wonderful.

Came here during happy hour to grab a half priced OG Margarita. Was tasty although a small glass for even half off tbh. Along with it I decided to grab two tacos including the Mushroom Asiago which was really delish and my second was the Salmon which was even more delish. I will definitely be back for their tacos. Yum. Fast, friendly service makes this a good dining destination. Danny often stops by for a visit or dine in.

This place was conveniently located near the concert at nearby The Hotel Cafe, so my friend and I decided to eat here. Delicious tacos, a bit expensive at the regular rice of $6-$4, but during Happy Hour (4-7pm M-F), the street tacos were only $2 each! and drinks were affordable too. Spacious cool space. I will be back!

Good location but boring interior. Small portions, food could be better. We met Danny Trejo and he was very nice and friendly.

We came to this place on a local recommendation, unaware of the supposed 'star' connotations. First things first, we were surprised how quiet the place was for a midweek night - we didn't expect the joint to be jumping but did expect that we and a handful of others would't be the only patrons. Service was fine enough - friendly and knowledgable - and certainly not out of step with the general vibe in LA. But in truth the food was pretty disappointing - the fries were stone cold and the Mexi-falafel I tried was only a little warmer, despite the foil sleeve. Not a meal to remember.

The service was poor, and 32 bucks for a couple of average burritos is ridiculous. More hype than flavor. The decor was nice but in LA there are plenty of mom n pop Mexican restaurants with much more flavor, value, and ambiance without the hype or gouging. The bill for a lunch of 3 was over 100 bucks! Come on Danny! Don’t gouge your fans. 25 bucks for a T-shirt? The bill also included Taco Tuesday, which are really just appetizers. Taco trucks have more flavor and value.

Below average and a non event. Silly tasteless portions. No true Mexican or anyone who appreciates a good Mexican food should come here. The staff was nice and your pointless meal Is out within 2 minutes so that’s a plus. The end!

My friend and I were staying in Hollywood Hills which. conveniently, was near this location. On our first night in L.A., we drove by this marquee and I wanted to check out the food. Monday morning, we walked by it on the way to a yoga studio. After getting our sweat on, we wanted a refreshment and a snack. We walked into this establishment and were greeted immediately. The bartender wanted to suggest a few items while we perused the beer menu. He offered samples of beer as well which was great. We chose an IPA and a michelada. After checking out the menu, we chose the guacamole, street corn and a pastor taco. The guacamole was great. The chips were salty enough to add to the guacamole. I loved the street corn and the taco was okay. I have had better pastor tacos. However, knowing it was somewhat new I figured they would evolve into bettering that. Service was great--kind, knowledgeable and gracious. Food was fine. Great guacamole and street corn. I'm glad that I noticed the marquee on the first night in L.A. I would definitely return. It was perfect post yoga. Thank you!

I’ve been waiting for years to try this place and it was well worth the wait. Authentic food with a special touch. It was so good we went back 2 day’s later for more. Fresh ingredients - great menu with loads of options for vegetarians - and it all tastes great. Definitely get a frozen margarita if you have the chance

I’ve come for the tacos of Machete! Take 2 - after a great experience at the Woodland Hills location we eagerly headed to Hollywood to find our expectations met. This is a smaller, busier space than the Woodland Hills spot…you can pay to valet park in their lot, but beware the price seems to go up every 15 minutes. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated at a table…first a little too close to the always open garage door style entry to the patio (it was a cold night), and then at a booth further away. (Try to set in the dining area on the other side of the bar if outside temperatures bother you.) The chips and salsa once again didn’t disappoint in terms of taste. I had tasted all of the vegetarian tacos on my visit to the other locale so I went for the Jackfruit burrito this time around. It was on the spicy side, but not too spicy…just heartily spicy…it was a generous size and really filled me up. (Also it’s normally vegan but I eat dairy so I had them add cheese which was quite tasty. We also had our server’s recommendation of the Fortaleza Tequila chilled and neat. (I’d asked for his favorite non $25 sipping tequila.) It was smooth and delicious and up there with any other tequila my more experienced tequila drinking wife has had. We love the vegetarian meals we can get at Trejo’s and this will remain on our list of crave worthy foods. (And I’m not just saying that to appease the wrath of Machete.)

We visited for dinner early May 2025 after booking via OpenTable. We enjoyed the selection of margaritas, including a margarita flight. Food was tasty, service good and the price reasonable. I would recommend a visit if you are in the vicinity.

I tried Trejo Tacos first in Coachella and I had to try them again! I order the spicy chicken empanada and chicharrones with tanjin as appetizer, the Tortilla soup, which was very good and the beef barbacoa tacos, this was my favorite food. The meat was so juicy and tasty! To drink I got the Date Sweetened Horchata, it was good not too sweet but creamy. But the item that blew my mind was the churros! they were so crispy and tasty, it comes with 2 dipping sauces, the chocolate one was amazing! I will go back when I'm in town. Service was very good as well!

I'm a recent transplant to LA. My boyfriend and I are both native Texans, so the Mexican food standards are high and we were really missing the flavors of home. We're both big Trejo fans and thought it would be fun to try his cantina. We were NOT disappointed! Extensive menu with all sorts of tacos. Good flavors in everything. PERFECT portion sizes (we thought to ourselves that Trejo's would be the perfect place to get a table outside, have some beers, and almost do the tacos like tapas. Just keep 'em coming! :P ). Lots of beers on top and a good selection of Mexican beers. We were really pleased with it and intend to go back often.

Easy access with outdoor dining. Street food, great chips and salsa, burritos and tacos. Nearby Hollywood and Vine intersection

3.5/5 When we decided to visit LA, we wanted to eat at one of the Trejo Trio restaurants (Cantina, Tacos, or Coffee and Donuts). I'll admit, I only wanted to eat here because it's owned by Danny Trejo. The cantina was the closest to where we were shopping and staying so we decided to have an early dinner here. We got here just in time to indulge in their happy hour menu which included discount tacos ($2 each) and drinks. I went with all three happy hour tacos (Jackfruit, carnitas, grilled chicken). I was also intrigued by the date sweetened horchata so I ordered that as well. The interior is modern and I love all the unique touches in the design. There are various paintings of Trejo in his different roles on the walls, including a gigantic one of him as Machete (Machete don't joke!). The date horchata was cool, sweet and refreshing. I liked the added depth of flavor that the dates contributed to the drink. I'd definitely get this again. The happy hour tacos were street taco size, and were nicely presented. They were decent. Out of all three, the jackfruit was my favorite. My husband had the carnitas burrito, enchilada style. It was enormous! It barely fit the plate it was on. Despite the size, he had no problem finishing that burrito. Service was friendly and cheerful. The one negative, which is a common problem everywhere you eat in LA is that parking was a hassle. If you don't mind a potential short walk, street parking will give you 2 hours of time, or you can use the plaza's valet for $8.

The cauliflower tacos were really tasty but the Jackfruit tacos were the best! Huge selection of beers. I tried the unicorn beer and it was great. My favorite cocktail was the cartel, soo yummy. It consisted of cucumber vodka, watermelon juice and triple sec. sooo good Our waiter was super friendly and recommended the lavender margarita and it was yummy. I definitely want to come back during their happy hour.

Friendly, fast and efficient service. The quesadillas were a bit bland, but the guac was top notch. They have a great variety of local beers on tap, and some really cool Trejo merchandise.

Went on an evening with friends...the bean dip/guac with chips appitizer was delicious (we ordered a 2nd!), the Pineapple Cartinas burrito (not too much heat!) & Chicken Tiki taco (onion-y )were the favorites at the table. Our servers (Alysson & Christian) were excellent. 1st time visit....I will go back

We enjoyed our food enough but they didn't have everything on the menu. We wouldn't go out of our way to return.

This is an ideal location for a larger group as it is equipped with long benches. The menu is standard Mexican fare; however, the price is great but the quality is even better.

No problem getting a table on a Saturday night. Danny Trejo is a celebrity. They use his face on the logo and sell shirts hats and other souvenirs. Service is fast but was confused on our visit. My wet burrito was dry, my wife’s no cheese tacos had cheese and it took us 20 minutes to get the drinks we ordered. The food has some slight tweaks but is pretty standard stuff. Tacos and Burritos. The Trejo hot sauce is killer. Nice full flavor with a cayenne kick.

We had been told by a friend that we had to go here and try the cauliflower tacos and the guacamole....they were right! Delicious! Just different enough to be fun but not weird ha! The guacamole had pistachios in it which was amazing! Great street tacos and the pork was incredibly moist. For dessert try the churros! Very casual and super laid back. Friendly staff too!

Found this place by accident when I last visited Los Angeles in 2018: it was well worth trying, I enjoyed everything I had (two tacos followed by churros wig a beer and a mojito) and would go again in my next trip here.

This place is just so cool. We stayed in a hotel round the corner and had to pop in. The steak nachos are the best damn nachos i’ve ever had. So good! Can’t wait to go back.

On a whim decided to stop in for a quick drink and some nachos. The service was amazing. The margaritas were incredible. Trejo's Cerveza (beer) was surprisingly good. There is also a variety of other beers to chose from I unreservedly suggest this place if you are in the area and are hungry.
First time!
First time diner at Trejo's. He is one of my favorite actors, so, I had to try it out. I got the burrito for lunch and could not finish it! The food was really good and the staff was friendly. We went there for lunch on a trip to our Cali office. I would go back again for happy hour. If you don't know where it is, you may miss it.
