Not worth going to

By Virginia A |

The feigned sweetness of the woman greeting customers is obviously fake. The eatery is dimly lighted. The woman said the tables are reserved and directed us to the bar. There were only two of us and we don't even drink alcohol. There were two empty tables behind us which were still empty by the time we leave, which made me wonder why she seated us to the bar. There were also some empty tables on the other area of the place. We ordered lamb and calamari. The tiny calamari were greasy. The lamb was small and hardly any meat in it. Definitely not worth the money they are charging. We won't be back, ever! I left a decent tip just because the server is attentive and friendly.

Great Experience!

Trela offered a perfectly great meal! The spanikopita, the chicken dishes, the hummus and assorted sips with pita...all wonderfully prepared. Delicious. I cannot wait to return!

Perfect intro to Greece before our trip

Great food and service. Perfect place before our trip to Greece. The food was a good as anything we had in Greece. We have been twice with friends and both times it was excellent

Lovely staff, bad kitchen

By Iambic |

We really wanted to like Trela. It’s a pretty space. The staff is terrific: friendly, attentive, and helpful. The menu has all the main Greek standards. Portions are reasonable for the prices. Dishes are nicely presented. The problem is the food just isn’t that good. With one exception, dishes were surprisingly bland. There was little to no spice. The exception was the giant beans. They came with a sauce that had an overpowering flavor (ouzo?) that wasn’t listed among the ingredients on the menu. The fried calamari appetizer arrived tepid—under room temperature. Maybe the restaurant intends to provide the dish that way, but we prefer ours hot. The octopus entree was so overcooked the knife supplied could barely cut it. If this were a new restaurant, we might chalk up the problems to growing pains. In an establishment of a couple of years running, the problems appear to run deeper.

Super delicious food

So, so good. Excellent service (friendly and on top of things), super delicious food (orzo with mizithra, lemon potatoes, chicken souvlaki, spanikopita, bread with three sauces; everything was really flavorful and perfectly prepared), lively ambiance, and fair prices for the quality and quantity of food. Street parking, but we had no trouble finding a (free) spot just around the corner/less than a block away. Highly recommend if you want legit Greek food.

LAMMMMMB!!!!!!

By Michael P |

Small restaurant space but the service has always been great. I really recommend the skewers but omg the lamb is to die for. It’s one of those roll your eyes in the back of your head experience. Totally worth every single penny. I will always get the lamb every time I go there.
