Good night

By Duke D |

We've visited here many times through a couple of ups and downs. I am very pleased to say that it's back on form. Every thing we had was fabulous. Great food, great service and a thorough good night ready had by all.

Excellent neighborhood Thai!

By Meghan R |

I live right in the neighborhood, and it doesn't get much better than this! Trio has great atmosphere, is BYO, and an excellent, fresh menu! I especially love their Pineapple Fried Rice and Drunken Noodles. The steamed dumpling appetizer is also very good. I have gone here with my boyfriend, and have taken my parents here too, and both times it was wonderful; everyone enjoyed their meal. I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area!

Neighborhood restaurant, world class food

By SteveSora |

Trio BYOB is everything a restaurant should be. Great food (of course), not expensive, and in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The cusine is billed as Asian Fusion or Thai, but the menu and specials offer something (great) for everyone. Close to the park and the museums, it is our favorite "discovery" in the city.

Delicious little gem!

We came to this restaurant on a whim because it was in walking distance of where we were staying. My meal was fabulous! I had the Pad Woonsen. It was flavourful and not spicy. Our daughters ordered two stirfry type dishes and they asked for a spice/hot level of two - but by the end of the meal they were joking about flames coming out of their mouths! They said it was much higher than two. This is a BYOB restaurant, so my husband ran back to our place and brought back a bottle of red wine and our waiter made us the best pitcher of red wine sangria I have ever had! Highly recommend, great experience!

Small Wonder, Big Flavor

By Egodoc |

Excellent Thai food...a real treat since we have manyThai restaurants in the area but onky a few really meet the standards. Traditonal pad thai with exceptional flavors, chicken satay that, while not marinated overnight in a traditional way, tha tactually tastes grilled and not dried out, crispy duck which in fact crisped skin with moist and tender meat, and appetizers that could be entrees in and of themselves. Wonderfully attentive and knowledgeable service. Great meal..

Please my experience be an aberration!

By shorevet |

Having read mostly great reviews we visited Trio on a Wednesday evening. The place is unpretentious, quiet and nicely decorated. The staff while poorly trained was adequate. Our fried calamari and the pouch appetizer were good. I know good Thai food. The Pad Thai special, Drunken Noodle, Glasses noodles were not good (Overcooked glob). The duck was also poor. The manager very nicely concurred about the miss with the pad thai, and substituted a house salad with rancid walnuts. I hope for their sake that the our visit was an aberration. I can't believe that most patrons would accept bad food. Unfortunately I probably will never go back since the area has so many choices. Was the busboy cooking on the night we dined?

Food is hit or miss

By jlaroche |

Everytime I order the pad Thai, I get something different. Sometimes it's great, but other times it's average at best. After so much time in business, I would expect better consistency for a popular item on their menu.

wasted time

We had delivery from this restaurant a few weeks ago. Just ordered again to the same address and they called us back 15 minutes later to tell us they won't deliver to our address (in center city). They should know where they deliver to and be consistent. Won't be ordering or visiting here in the future.

Our favorite Thai place in Philly

By PhillyWanderers |

Parking is always a chore, but it's worth the hassle to dine at this terribly charming and wonderful BYOB. We are never disappointed and have brought many friends here. Salmon, pork with drunken noodles, shrimp corn cakes, spring rolls, Thai house salad, Chilean sea bass. All were fresh as can be with wonderful sauces. Desserts are also delectable. And with a BYOB, the cost of a 3 course dinner is so reasonable. We also saw some very long-lost friends from way out of town just happened to be dining while we were there and we wanted to anonymously treat them to dinner. Our waiter was very helpful and accommodating. Eventually, as they were leaving, the friends saw us and we had a happy reunion (after not seeing each other 15 years). They then sat at our table and we chatted for over an hour. The wait staff continued to serve us water and tea and coffee, even though we were done and had paid the bill. Just a very friendly place.

Meh.

By Taylor W |

Our dining experience here could be summed up with "Meh." It was nothing special, even below average -- I should have heeded the other reviews! We arrived and were seated promptly thanks to our reservations. To start, we ordered the beggar's pouches and the spring rolls. The spring rolls were fine, nothing spectacular. The beggar's pouches were disappointing -- the crab was shredded into tiny strings, and there was an odd flavor to them. The same sauce came with both of them. My boyfriend described it as "tasting like salsa" I couldn't say I completely disagreed. For our entrees, he ordered Pad Wooten with scallops. I really wanted the pineapple fried rice with duck; however, they had sold out of the shredded duck to put in dishes, but I could still order half of a duck... So that is what I did. The half of a crispy duck with a yellow curry sauce, rice, and veggies. The Pad Wooten itself was good, from my boyfriend's reports; however, the scallops... Just NO. They were obviously frozen, many were split in half. They were rubbery and had no color on them whatsoever! Scallops should have a lovely golden, caramelized crust. Trio missed that mark completely. I will say, my duck was quite good. I enjoyed it, although I wish there would have been more sauce, and no vegetables came with it, as the menu said it did. We decided we were not going to stay for dessert... But then our waiter came around with the iPad to show us the dessert menu (I will admit it, that was pretty cool). And he said the word chocolate, and I was done for. So I ordered the flourless chocolate cake. If you want a hunk of fudge, go for this. And I don't mean this in a complimentary way. In between orders, we did not see our waiter. He maybe came and checked on us once, and we had to wait forever for him to come after our entrees were finished. Our meal ended up costing about $80. Overall, I would not recommend, and would not go back. The one nice aspect of this is that it is BYOB.

College Buddies

My buddies and I met at this restaurant for a reunion. We had a great time. The food is classic Thai, and very good. The staff was helpful and friendly. It is byob so we brought our own beer and wine which went well. It is near the art museum which is convenient.

Seemingly hidden in plain sight

Great find. This place is in a prominent location but because it’s in the ground-floor of a large apt building, if you blink while walking or driving by you’ll miss it. Nice menu selection; some things run very spicy but they can control the spice on certain dishes. Everything eaten at our table was good. Prices were fair.

ALWAYS!!! great food and service

By Jill E |

We love Trio! Food is always great and wonderful service. This has become our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We also love that it's a BYOB so that we can bring our favorite bottle or wine or beer and it helps to keep the cost of dining out reasonable.

Valentine’s Day specials were

Valentine’s Day specials were amazing but dessert takes it home! Great dinner and service as always. Across from the art museum super easy to get to after spending the day at the museum.

Fantastic Thai

By eandbbutler |

In the Fairmount neighborhood we are fortunate to have a variety of restaurants from which to choose. This BYOB is one of the best for service, food and ambiance. The weekly specials are very creative and always give us an opportunity to try new dishes. The beggars pouches appetizer is filled with flavor and their seafood dishes and the crispy duck are delicious. The kitchen is very accommodating to special diets.

Roof deck dining

By minookajoe |

Off the beaten path but worth the diversion. Diverse menu too. Thai dishes delicious & degree of spice to your taste. Seafood combination dish just the right size with rice. Pad Tai delights. Byob for lower costs. Friendly attentive staff. Cozy atmosphere. Prepare to climb stairs in this converted row house. But I am sure 1st floor seating is available. And desserts are scrumptious. Consider sharing.

Such great food

By Kristie B |

Great prices too! Everything is homemade and wonderful. Staff is friendly. My faves are the shrimp Pad Thai and the vege samosas! If you are going to the art museum-make this be a stop for you. BYOB

Lovely, Quiet and Delicious

Delicious, fresh food at reasonable prices. Quiet dining (a rarity these days) and an excellent waitstaff. Lovely.

A wonderful neighborhood spot

By BetsyR19130 |

Trio is consistently good. Fresh food, well prepared and nicely presented. We appreciate the many vegetarian offerings, the BYO policy, the ability to pay by credit card, and the casual, unhurried ambiance. Their various pad Thais are fabulous and we've enjoyed wonderful specials in addition to the standard menu fare. Well worth a visit!

Awesome value - - very well done

By WileyPost |

This is a great Thia / Asian fusion style restaurant with incredible food and excellent service. On top of that it is BYOB. Very nice neighborhood setting. The salmon I had was prepared perfectly. My wife had the crab cakes and raved about them. We were in Philly for a wedding, but should we return, I will definitely make a stop at Trio.

Trio has a new location - is still excellent! Worth repeat visits.

By Craig W |

First of all, Trio is no longer at 2624 Brown St., and has moved to 2601 Pennsylvania Ave. This should be updated on TripAdvisor, asap. The next thing to mention is that the Thai menu is still in place and everything offered and prepared there is excellent, from apps to desserts. Flavors are stellar, spice level can be adjusted to meet your taste and portions are generous. You should arrive hungry! As a repeat customer, I can honestly say that it never disappoints and, its BYOB, which is fantastic.

Excellent value, sizeable portions

By Louis T |

Unfortunately we had a baby in the restaurant who liked to screech for no reason at all. Otherwise, we found the food to be very tasty and spiced as we ordered. The stir fry vegetables with chicken was spiced mildly (as we asked for 1 on the spice), and it was plentiful, with lots of chicken, and very tasty. The pad thai with shrimp was done nicely, flavorful, but with less tamarind sauce than I am used to. Service was good, but there were only 3 or 4 tables full at 5pm on a warm Memorial Day weekend Saturday. All in all, the four of us were very satisfied with serving size, value, and service.

Great ice tea! Beggars pouches fun appetizers. Pad Thai with any seafood or chicken delicious. Not Spicy but sweetness & lime present mouthfuls of goodness. Atmospherically pleasing. Evolving menu with some old Isabel favorites.

First time / Last time!

By Valentina B |

I was looking forward to enjoying a lovely Mother's Day dinner on the deck -- it didn't happen! We should have left IMMEDIATELY after the waiter spilled hot soup on one of us. The food was not tasty or appetizing. Two of our hot dishes arrived at the same time, but then I had to wait 10 minutes to receive my salad while the others started to eat. The ingredients in the dishes were not as written on the menu, and when we asked why these ingredients were missing, one waiter said it was not written on the menu (but it was), and another waiter finally admitted that some ingredients in the dishes changed and yet nothing was said when we placed our order. We will definitely never eat here again.

Fright and Bite

By Stephanie G |

Took my best friend here for his birthday. We did the fright and bite experience. He loved, loved, loved his birthday present! Our server, Greg was wonderful and very experienced. He was able to give us directions to the penitentiary after our meal. We will be doing this again next year!

No pre packaged foods

Any menu item is delicious. Delicious style Asian food with a special twist! Seafood hot pot delightful. Try seating on roof deck! Bring wine for red or white sangria. Tasty treat.

I love their pineapple fried rice!

By Seth S |

They just completed a successful move to PA ave only a few blocks from their old location. I must admit there was some growing / moving pains including a few nights of very slow service that almost made us give up on it. But I am happy to say they are back to the old familiar and efficient service with great food! This place is an old standby for my group of friends and besides the moving adjustment period never fails the impress and satisfy. Plenty of vegan and vegi options on the menu. The Tom Yum soup is a favorite of mine along with the pineapple rice with chicken. My mouth waters every time I think of eating there. Would have been 5 star without the moving pains.

Delicious seafood special

By VicB1977 |

What a great little find, the seafood special was fabulous. The right level of spice, fantastic flavours, good quality seafood, attentive service and BYOB.

Great food and dining ambience!

By Travel1516 |

Excellent food, mix of thai/american. BYOB, but there are 3 floors of dining and an outdoor deck on the 3rd floor has a great view of downtown Center City,

Restaurant Week

By Ri A |

My friends and I decided to try this place for restaurant week. They had a $30 menu that came with an app, a main, and dessert. I got the vegi spring rolls which were good. Then I got the seafood melody for my main and it was ok. Very large portion and very filling. For dessert I had the cheese cake. I didn't think that there was anything special about the restaurant. Their food was good but I gave it 3 stars because of the service. They were so slow with everything. The ambiance outside was great though.
