Food was good, however when paying, they asked for PIN number, which of course I did not give, Then found out later that they had tried to use it on line for Chinese retailer

We went here looking for traditional dim sum and some proper Chinese food. We hadn't booked - just headed for Chinatown and picked a place at random so it was good that we were sat down immediately at a window seat - to be fair, there were lots of available seats - we were one of only 3 tables. The lady who sat us down was pleasant enough but didn't exactly crack a smile. She left a bunch of menus and scooted off. Another equally glum male appeared with a pot of green tea - which incidentally, was lovely! A third, even more melancholic server arrived and took our order which was a couple of dim sum and a couple of mains - which all arrived within a few minutes of each other - which was a shame as it would have been nice to savour the flavours. The dim sum was listed on a 'tick the box' paper menu - it could have done with some better explanations - most of the dim sum looked the same - it would have been helpful to know what each of them contained. My main - prawns with ginger and green onions was, to put it generously, tasteless. It was watery, with huge chunks of spring onions, slices of ginger that were akin to bits of garden mulch and lots of shelled prawns that had virtually no seasoning. The bottle of Sauvignon Blanc was actually a Sauvignon/semillion but was nice enough. Not exactly what I was expecting but the dim sum was the light that brightened the experience.

When in Chicago’s Chinatown and looking for something new? May I suggest Triple Crown Restaurant, they serve Dim Sum and Cantonese dishes. We eat only off the Dim Sum menu. We tried several dishes and was very good. We were impressed that we are planning a trip back to try other dishes soon. Well price food and filling too.

We were in Chinatown, Chicago for a few days & we stopped in at the Triple Crown twice! 👑Food was fantastic & drinks were really good. Dim sum is everywhere in Chinatown & the dim sum here was excellent! Service was very good! Cant wait to return again soon!🙂

Food was good. Staff was so-so. Went for dim sum. No carts, you order off a menu. Staff just drops the menu off and walks away, so be prepared to be talked down to and made to feel like an idiot if you don’t fill it out correctly.

Had Dim Sum for lunch. Expansive menu, very reasonable prices, efficient service. Overall a good experience, the eggplant dish and the BBQ pork buns were especially delicious.

We stopped here for a drink and a rest while strolling through China Town. The restaurant is on the second floor overlooking Wentworth Avenue. It has traditional Chinese decor and very attentive staff. We had Lucky Buddha beer, some tea, and coconut cake (which is really more like coconut jello). They have a wide variety of Dim Sum.

We wanted to eat in Chinatown, and saw that Triple Crown had a good reputation. As others have experienced, we were very pleased with the food, but had a more difficult time with the service. We ordered a variety of foods, some appetizers, a few dim sum items, and an entree. Having never eaten at that type of restaurant, we were confused by the multiple menus. There was a traditional menu and a picture menu. The picture menu primarily had the dim sum items, along with some appetizers. We ordered a few things off of there by writing numbers in the small boxes. When we tried to order off of the traditional menu, we encountered some challenges. When we asked for some items, we were directed to the other menu for similar but not the same items, which was frustrating. At one point; we asked for a bowl of white rice. The waitress pointed out a full entree on the picture menu. We just have up on the rice. The food we did receive was very good and we had an overall enjoyable experience. If someone was more comfortable with that type of menu system, they would probably find it very enjoyable.

The food was quite good, but the rest not really welcoming, starting with the Mood, the staff unfriendly and although 2 h the restaurant should still be open was already cleaned around us and armchairs put on the tables

Came here and had a lovely Sunday Dim Sum meal with friends. All the food came out quickly and together which was nice. The service was not good with tea refills though which we didn't care for. Overall it was a great experience for a local China experience.

Excellent dim sum (siu mai, bean curd, scallop) that holds its shape perfectly! Fast, polite service and a nice, bustling street view unlike typical America. Really liked it.

I went late afternoon on a Monday. You order off a dim sum menu with pictures and they make everything fresh. The different dishes were very good to excellent. I also had the Triple Crown special crispy fried thin noodles with seafood, which was fantastic. It came with big shrimp, scallops, fish, straw mushrooms and baby bok choy. It was easy to get to, a two block walk from the Red line train Chinatown station, use the first car if headed south. The ride was 5 minutes from downtown.

Do they have a bad restaurant in Chinatown? Is there a secret menu for Chinese & another for everyone else? Maybe, just maybe??? If there is they lost it. The ambiance, fast & friendly service is simply wonderful, the menu has everything you can think of and a few more surprises that you haven’t. Everything is created and prepared for the Asian pallet cooked to perfection sourcing local products accompanied with imported Asian products. If you’re looking for the real thing, you want to eat here.

Very good food; Just the detail of some not very clean glasses, but the food was very good and reasonable prices. And they have a special menu at a good price until 3 in the afternoon

For someone coming from Toronto, we found the food and service exceeding our expectations. This is definitely a spot we would visit when we are back in the city.

Stopped in here on a whim. The atmosphere was friendly, the food was great. The servers were very helpful as we tried to decide which options to try. We loved everything!

We hoped to find a bit more Chinese/American Asia kitchen, but that was not the case. Not was the service very helpful assisting on the order. We therefore were kind of rushed to place the order which was turning out to be ok, different than expected, but ok. For our generous tip we did not receive a thank you which was a pity.

Fill your belly with amazing food! So many good items on the menu to choose from! Everything we selected was amazing. Plenty of room as well.

Came here for dinner with a group of eight. We ordered their Dinner for 8. Entrée portion are very small so I recommend ordering more food. Food was flavorful and server was very friendly. Power went out during our dinner and the management found flashlights and lanterns so we could keep eating. Power did come back on at the end of our dinner. Overall it was a nice meal. Décor is very aged and restroom is not appealing.

Every time we come to Chicago, we try to make an effort to come here. It does not disappoint. Food is good, service is efficient and friendly.

Dined solo here on tasty dum sum as starters and stir fried prawns for main. Good portion sizes and free hot green tea.

We ordered a few dim sum, noodle, seafood dishes and congee. Everything exceeded my expectations! Authentic food and great service. Food came out really quickly too. Next time in Chicago, I would definitely come back here again.

The food was awesome! As good as in Chinatown New York City! Mostly Asian customers; traditional big round tables- so much fun to get all kinds of dishes, put them on the lazy Susan and share family style. Finger licking good! Definitely will be back during my next visit to Chicago!!!

Our Uber dropped us in Chinatown, and we asked for his recommendation for where to eat while we were sightseeing-and this was it. It had about a thirty minute wait the whole time we were there, so it must be a pretty popular place. We had the S&S Chicken (which was amazing, Chicken and Shrimp fried rice which was really good too. The fried dumplings/dipping sauce were outstanding, and so were the egg rolls. The service was weird, or at least not what we are use to, but other than that it was a Chinese restaurant with really good food.

We recently lunched at Triple Crown. While the service was good, the food was just so-so. We ordered from the dim sum, lunch, and dinner menus. The dim sum items were the tastiest and freshest. The other dishes were rather gloppy and tasteless. We won't be going back.

My 14 y.o. son and I stayed at the Jasline Hotel and decided to walk around Chinatown to check it out. We felt like having dim sum, so after looking up reviews, we found Triple Crown, which was VERY close to our hotel. We came on a weekday and were seated right away. We were seated next to the window and had a great view of the community center. We marked what we wanted on the paper menu and the waiter came and confirmed our order. I think there was maybe one item that was not available that day. In any case, the food was made fresh and delivered to our table when it was ready. I was really impressed with the quality and the freshness. All of the dim sum dishes we ordered were tasty and when the bill was totaled, we were able to see what items we ordered (in English and Chinese) and how much each item cost. I really liked the receipts being so user-friendly. In many Chinese restaurants, everything is hand tallied with Chinese writing and you don't know what anything means (unless you are able to read Chinese). The total bill was surprisingly less than what I had anticipated, so I was very pleased. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go again the next time I am in Chicago.

I asked my hotel where to get a nice meal in Chinatown, and he recommended Triple Crown located within walking distance. It was late, and being a light eater, I ordered chicken egg rolls and hot and sour soup to take back to the hotel. Both were good and still hot when I sat down to eat. It was good enough that I returned the next night for a repeat meal. Be aware they are located on the second floor and apparently specialize in Cantonese style cuisine.

the food here is terrible! you ask for some sweet and sour chicken, and the chicken comes so sweet that it looks like a desert. the cleaning is terrible, the crabs stays beside the bathrooms. terrible waitress too. i won't come back here.

I stopped by here at night and it was great. Lots of options and easy menu. Service was ok, but when food arrived I was very happy. Good seafood great buns. Would love to visit again next time im in Chicago.

This is a must stop for us while in Chicago. The service is fast, food is excellent and so are the prices! We came mid afternoon this time and got a seat by the window. It was nice to I relook the street while enjoying our entrees.

The reviews were all pretty good, so we thought we would venture out to Chinatown for dinner while on our visit to Chicago. It was a little later (8:30) in the evening, on Sunday, but the place still had a good crowd. We had two servers, the first one looked "out of it" and the second was completely overwhelmed. My entrée arrived first, 10 minutes later our appetizer came, then 10 minutes later my husband's entrée arrived. My roasted duck looked like it sat under the heat lamp for 3 days, and his filet with vegetables was a horrible cut of beef and greasy. Definitely not a filet cut! On a different note, the bathrooms were filthy with toilet paper and paper towels all over the toilets and floor. I do not recommend this place at all!

Wonderful food! Great selection of menu food items! Not too expensive. Small lunch menu available! Great service! Good for kids as well!!!!

You know really good dim sum? The kind where you bite into the dumpling and you get an explosion of juice and flavor? Well, you won't find that here. The dim sum here is utter crap: sticky, dry and no flavor whatsoever. Maybe I am spoiled by my experiences in Hong Kong, but this place was sorely lacking in anything approaching authenticity. If you are reading this because you want an honest assessment from someone who has eaten Michelin star dim sum before, then consider this advice and keep looking. This place is not worth it.

Our first time for Dim Sum and we loved it. We could barely understand what was said and had to point at pictures as they brought the carts around but we would do it again in a heartbeat. It was a great experience and really cheap. Four of us ate for $25 and were plenty full.

Their food was very tasty and had the opportunity to taste some meals I have never tasted in any other chinese restaurants.

Went here with my family and had excellent dim sum and drinks. Will definitely come back again! The buns and General Tsao with the Lucky Buddha beer is a winner.

This spot is great for dim sum. This is not my first time here. They are typical very busy on the weekends. I have had consistent food quality and service here. I was seated right away. The service staff checked on me consistently and moved plates out of the way as I loved through each course. I ordered my favorites here, shrimp dumpling, scallop dumpling, chicken feet, shrimp balls, bbq bun and egg custard, soft shell crab and pea pod tips. All came out fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place for their authentic food and amazing seating arrangement overlooking the busy street below.

Really neat place. Definately felt authentic. Lots of locals dining there. Food was good. It was a neat experience

We had some dim sum dishes and family style orders of bbq pork fried rice, sesame chicken, and Singapore rice noodles. Everything was very good. The hot tea was perfect for the very cold day we visited!

I am not a dim sum expert. In fact I've only had it twice - both times at this restaurant (but 8 years apart). My teenage sons, friend, and I went to Triple Crown after a day of Chicago sightseeing. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. We ordered a collection of plates to share: BBQ pork dumplings, soup dumplings, BBQ short ribs, Chinese broccoli, shrimp dumplings (both steamed and fried). My 18 year old didn't want to share and ordered a full dinner of sesame chicken with broccoli. Everything tasted delicious, but my absolute favorites were the soup dumplings and the Chinese broccoli (broccoli raab with ginger stir fried). Everyone was happy with the food. The bill to feed 4 of us until we were stuffed (and we brought home a meal's worth of sesame chicken) was under $80 before tip. One note: my friend had only visited this restaurant for lunch and was surprised that they served food differently at supper. Instead of wheeling out carts of dim sum for you to choose from like at lunch, at dinner you order from a menu. As for the service...ugh! To be fair it was at least this bad on my last visit 8 years ago. And while I showed up for the food, it would be nice if the staff pretended to be glad to be there, or glad that we were there. Getting water and soda refills was like pulling teeth, getting all of our food without having to remind them that some items had not yet been served was impossible, and getting a friendly smile was unthinkable. Would I go again? Yes, the dim sum was great. If I were a Chicago local I would either spend some time developing a relationship with the staff for better treatment, or find another dim sum place.

So good! They have an amazing dim sum menu in addition to a very large regular menu. Menu is slightly confusing and if you are first timer ask for an explanation or you will be sitting there for quite some time! Food was amazing though, marking 4/5 because there was not a kids menu and just bc of the confusion but food wise an A+

Extensive menu. 11 yr old grandson ordered stirfry shrimp without the ginger & green onions. They were very accommodating, and he loved it. Good service.

This was easy to find in Chinatown! And, it was the busiest place on the block for our 11:30 on a Wednesday in March visit! Mostly there were locals enjoying dim sum. We chose the place on recommendation from family and friends. We ordered off the dim sum menu and had soup-dumplings, beef balls, braised short-ribs and honeycomb cake (only a total of $16!), along with hot tea to drink. We had never had dim sum and looked-it up on the internet to even know what it meant. The people who recommended the restaurant will drive 3-hours to eat the dumplings. We, were completely unimpressed and could not understand the attraction. We like Asian cuisine. Though it was seemingly authentic, the waitress was too rushed. I ordered tea and she never asked the other two people in my party if they wanted anything. They ended-up drinking tea too. At the table they give a dim sum menu and a pen. You are supposed to write on the menu the number of each entree you want. However, the way the menu is set-up, they list the prices as small, medium and large. Therefore we noted 'S', 'M' and 'L' on the menu. The waitress told us we did it wrong and changed everything to a '1'. She said we could always order more later. The dishes came out one at a time (not served all at once). Only chop sticks were provided (no big deal unless you are trying to eat horrifically grissly/fatty, overcooked beef spare ribs). I literally could NOT take a bite. They were AWFUL!!!!!!! The dumplings were tastey, but small. The beef balls were tastey but had an unfamiliar texture that bothered some in my party. I wish the waitress had been more helpful and took time to explain things when we asked. There was a lot of assumptions made on her behalf and a haste to get us served and moving on.

Wonderful restaurant for dim sum. There was great variety in the menu: meat, seafood, dumplings, vegetables. Went with a party of four. Allowed everyone to share a great number of different dishes. Probably the highlight of our trip to Chicago.

This looks like a classier Chinese joint in china town, from outside has menu and two floors. go inside and nice waiting area, clean with lights and u go up stairs to give name and sit/eat. Not as large as u think. Has neat chair covers. U can see the lobster, crabs, fish, etc. in back in several tanks that will be "eaten" - lol. Bathroom filthy and not attended to w/towels all over. Is a bit dated and needs a sprucing up. Had one young waitress that didn't speak English well and also asked several xs what we wanted and repeated yet still not right. Several other peeps brought our food. Had to ask and ask for 4th entrée (of the 4 for our 4th guest) and for my fried rice. Rice was light brown and no veggies, not what i'm used to. General tso chicken and orange chicken too light in flavor, too chewy (overcooked?) and just didn't taste like accustomed too. Tea nice touch, but don't expect sugar or lemon. Water had NO ice and went warm quick. A/C light too. Tables close together. one in my party had salt and pepper shrimp and Mongolian beef and liked. Crab Rangoon awesome. Just fell short of my expectations and for the price, not what I hoped for

Very tasty dim sum- complete with the moving carts through the restaurant during weekends so you can order by pointing to your favorite items. Have enjoyed this tradition in many cities- Triple Crown is among the most authentic! Yum!

This restaurant is first class. the food is outlandishly good, and honestly not that expensive. You get these huge plates of food, so be prepared to take some home, or share. The staff is wonderful, the service fast. This is a must stop every time we come to Chicago.

We chose this spot because of proximity to White Sox game as we were thru on the Red Line, and the fact they served Dim Sum later in the day than some other spots in the area. A menu sheet was provided - photos and prices clearly displayed. We indicated our choices, the number of each dish we desired and in short order the 8! dishes we had selected arrived - piping hot! Good food - reasonable prices - attentive service. Nice pre-game meal stop.

I was a bit skeptical about going to a dim sum restaurant for breakfast, especially since I was going by myself. My previous experience of dim sum had involved wait staff pushing little trays with various offerings, and I was concerned there would be too much lag time between the offerings I would want. Triple Crown had really good reviews, so I decided to give it a try in spite of my reservations. I am so glad I did. Their restaurant seats you in a large well lit and beautifully appointed room with a pot of hot tea and a sheet listing all of the offerings with a picture and description of each with prices and a key to guide you as to how large of a portion each is. You mark which you want, and one by one the little plates come out. Each arrived quickly after the other, so they were able to be enjoyed together. They were freshly made, pretty as the pictures and absolutely delicious. The entire meal was exotic, tasty and completely budget friendly, My nice big pot of tea was only $0.50, and the dishes I chose were each under $4.

Came here on a Friday night with a few friends while visiting Chicago. We had a dim sum dinner. Very affordable for a group. The shrimp and corn dumpling was my favorite, the shrimp and chives not so much. The custard bun was very sweet- I considered it a dessert. I think the steamed BBQ Pork bun was a table favorite.

Wonderful dim sum traditionally prepared and served. With all of the dim sum places available in Chinatown it is hard to decide where to go. This one was recommended to me and I found it highly enjoyable as well as reasonably priced.

We read a review on trip advisor about places to eat in China town. We picked The Triple Crown restaurant and we were happy we did! The restaurant was cozy, clean, and efficient. The food came out hot and delicious! We had the lunch specials, and tea. We will certainly go back!

The restaurant is large and service is good. Location wise is also great, at the front of chinatown gate. Came for lunch. Food is not bad although a bit salty for me. We ordered dimsum. It just happened we ordered fried potsickle and fried pork dumpling for breakfast in other restaurant in Chinatown and the two were much better in earlier restaurant than here.

We wanted to try dim sum and chose this restaurant due to its convenient location and nice looking atmosphere. We were not disappointed! They have a full Chinese menu with everything you could possibly want plus the separate dim sum menu. You are given a paper order sheet with all the dim sum choices. It shows a picture and a short description. (See photo below) You mark off what your group would like to share. We ordered a variety of items including desserts. All were absolutely delicious! Service was good however a little slow. I actually had to go ask for our bill after sitting there about 15 minutes after finishing our meal. We ordered a lot of food and I was pleasantly surprised how reasonable our bill was! They also validate parking for a cheaper rate. Oh, the jasmine tea served with the meal was wonderful!

We ordered many different things...everything was nothing short of excellent. My son tried things he has never tried before (which is a feat) and he loved everything.

This restaurant is popular and busy! We arrived just before 4 pm on a Saturday and had no wait. By the time we left at 5:30, people were lined up. There’s no waiting area to speak of, so I recommend going early. The food was outstanding. For dim sum, we ordered #3, Chiu Chow dumplings, which turned out to be my favorite….my husband didn’t care for them. They have something green in them along with meat, and a slight fishy taste. I thought they were amazing. We also ordered #14, short ribs with Korean sauce, and #36 chicken and mushroom Siu mai. Both were outstanding. Off the main menu we ordered Twice Cooked Pork, which had whole peppercorns and was delectable. Also abalone mushrooms with pea pod greens, which had less pizzazz but was delicious. The service was excellent. The price was beyond reasonable. The only things I could criticize were the martini and wine. They were both cheap and horrible. Stick to the jasmine tea and you won’t be disappointed. Absolutely loved this dining experience!! Thank you to the owners for such a wonderful restaurant!

Great food! Service is not as friendly and not bilingual (English). The food is fresh. Done at ordering. Need friendly customer service and more bilingual staff. Most only speak Chinese.

A large banquet hall size restaurants for family style meals, this place was pretty good. It s perfect for quality Chinese Hong Kong style food since there were plenty of 10 person tables there. Nice expansive menu, quick service by the staff and decent ambiance. Dishes we ordered were salt pepper pork chops, soy sauce chicken, snow pea leaves, salty fish pork, chicken and eggplants, and beef and mushrooms. All were presentable and tasty. Prices were low to mid range. Even with a waiting line, were in and out in 90 minutes.

Triple Crown has the best dim sum in Chinatown (although I think the best in the city is Furama in Uptown). Triple Crown's menu is quite extensive with standard dim sum prices. The service was prompt and the atmosphere comparable to many of the restaurants. For dim sum in Chinatown, this is my go to spot.

We were here with a Chicago Food Planet tour of Chinatown and started here with Dim Sum, the Chinese version of appetizers served at tea time. We had 3 different appetizers which were excellent and some things I had never had before. The restaurant has authentic music and decor. Serving staff were very attentive to our group of 12 people. I plan to return next time I am in Chicago.

If you have traveled to China this will remind you of classic restaurants there. The staff was very friendly and they explain how to order and what is recommended. The food was very good, fast, authentic, and fresh. A typical Chinatown restaurant so I wouldn't say it's fancy. Great dim sum and noodles. Order the fried sesame balls...Yum! Worth the visit!

Lively dim sum place. Like all dim sum in any Chinatown, be assertive and ask for things, especially the dumplings. TIP: BE WILLING TO SIT WITH OTHERS AND YOU'LL GET IN ASAP! Here, the server advised us to order certain dim sum to ensure we received it. Our favorite dim sum dishes: pineapple-glazed bbq pork roll, shrimp & corn dumplings & soup dumplings. All the veggies we ordered were great. Loved the sauces on the clams XO and the octopus XO -- oddly the sauces were completely different, despite both being XO, but both sauces were tasty. The soy chow mein was subpar -- it needed sauce badly. Overall an excellent experience, and so inexpensive!

We visit Chinatown annually in the summer. Of all of our meals over the last several years, this was the best. Clean, comfortable restaurant (good A/C on a 100 degree day!). Dim sum menu was very easy to navigate and understand so that we didn't end up with ingredients that we wished to avoid (like lamb intestines!). We were able to get a window table, which gave a nice view of the gate. The food was excellent. The service was attentive. Bathrooms were above average for Chinatown, which is significant for this area.

We visited on a Sunday and there were dim sum carts aplenty going around! It has many tables, but is also very popular as there aren't too many restaurants in Chinatown. We ordered off the menu and enjoyed what we had. We were able to take advantage of the lunch special pricing right at the cut off time of 3pm, which made the meal very reasonable.

Although this restaurant is highly reviewed, we found the food to be flavorless. The dim sum was hard to distinguish flavor. The specialty noodle dish was dried out. The roast duck was served with dry rice and no pancakes. Service never asked how the food was only did we want to order more. We have been going to Chicago’s Chinatown for over 30 years. This was the first disappointing meal!

Large upstairs restaurant serving dim sum into the evening. Service was attentive. Servings were large and steaming hot. Prices were lower than in East Coast Chinatowns like DC or Boston. Flavor was OK, albeit a bit different from what I'm used to at other Cantonese restaurants.

This is one of the most authentic dim sum restaurants I have visited. Most of the clientele Asian, not surprising considering it is at the beginning of Chinatown. What I liked about their dim sum was that it could be ordered individually, rather than just being selected from random carts wheeled around as many dim sum restaurants do. The quality of the food was excellent and reasonable.

I was visiting my cousins in Chicago and they took me to TCR for dinner because of the delicious food. The food was indeed tasty, and of good quality. The orange chicken was excellent and my favorite dish was the shrimp and chives dumplings! However, I wish that the waiters and waitresses paid attention to is, even if a little! We had to ask to order multiple times, and the staff were cold and unfriendly. I highly recommend the food here, but if you plan on visiting, do no expect a friendly environment. Bon appetit!

Dim sum here is great. They have a traditional full menu as well. Menu is accessible for both, and value is great across the board. Recommend going in a group to enjoy the full experience. One of my go to spot in Chinatown.

Just got back from trying to eat at this place. I usually restrict myself to recommending places that are good, but this place is so poor that I feel it’s necessary to warn others. The place was about a third full when we entered at 7 pm on a Thursday night. First time in Chicago’s Chinatown. We (two people) were shown to a corner table in a large, no-frills dining area. Our server, a polite lady in her middle years, took our order, on an electronic device. Nothing too out-of-the-ordinary - vegetable spring rolls, hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, vegetable fried rice, Singapore chow mei fun. Standard, unadventurous fare, that we’ve eaten many times before, in many different towns and cities.. Time passed. Then the hot and sour soup showed up, brought to the table by a young man who was new to us, and who we never saw again The soup was barely warm, and pretty much tasteless. But I was very hungry, so I began to eat it, slowly. More time passed. My companion was shifting in his seat. We were looking around for someone, anyone to ask about the rest of our order, but our area seemed server-free. Just before the point at which I was going to try to hunt down someone to help us, an elderly woman showed up with the spring rolls. These were a few degrees above stone cold, and had clearly been cooked several hours earlier and then abandoned, as they were rock-hard, and filled with stale, tasteless vegetal goo. My companion, desperate to have something to eat, proceeded to wolf them down. Several minutes later, the fried rice arrived and, miracle of miracles, it was hotter than tepid, had been recently cooked and tasted decent. We began to eat it, in anticipation of the other entree making an appearance, but no luck there. We’d almost finished eating it before I managed to attract the attention of a young man who was working a nearby table. I asked him if he could maybe inquire about the whereabouts of the egg drop soup, and the other entree. He checked his own electronic device, looked puzzled, and then disappeared for a while, only to reappear with the soup, which was, as you might have expected, barely warm to the touch. The chow mei fun was brought to the table shortly thereafter, by a woman who may have been our original server, but the intervening length of time, and the sheer number of people involved made that guesswork. True to form, the noodles were lukewarm, tasteless and elderly. Yet another person, a young woman, showed up and asked us if everything was good. I advised her that it wasn’t, for the reasons outlined above. she said that she would “talk to the chef.” I pointed out that the fact that the food was cold would hardly be the chef’s fault, and she repeated that she would “talk to the chef.” I asked to speak with the manager. She said that at that time, she was in charge. I asked if I could speak with the chef. She said the chef didn’t speak English. At this point, I began to lose the will to live, so I asked for the check and paid it, using HER electronic devic, including a tip for the many, assorted severs (because I’ve worked as a server, too), and we left. And that was our experience of the Triple Crown restaurant, in Chicago’s Chinatown. I’ve tried to make it reasonably entertaining, for you, but it was anything but entertaining for us. Feel free to try the place out for yourself, but don’t blame me, ‘cos I did warn you!

On estimate time of delivery ! Still warm, Food was nice like it should be ! Tasted real good ! A total yes !

We decided to change our to go place in Chinatown and tried this one , and glad we did! Dim Sum carts fill your eyes and appetite as you can choose which plate to order, with the option of a la carte also. We tried several but my favorites were the scallop dumpling, the taro and pork spring roll and the pork dumplings. Service was fast and the restaurant can accommodate fast so there was no wait when we came around 2pm.

We were looking for the Dim Sum experience we are used to with the rolling carts where you point to what you want, but apparently that's not how it is done in Chicago's Chinatown. After asking around we decided on Triple Crown, but knew we had to order off the menu. The nice thing is that the pictures, names and descriptions made it easy to order our favorites. We had BBQ pork buns, shrimp dumplings, shrimp and pork dumplings, Chinese broccoli, BBQ pork crepe and sesame balls. All of that was around $30, very reasonable. The service wasn't quite as good; we had to ask more than one person and more than one time for more tea, more hot sauce and hot mustard. The dishes arrived at the table uncut, and since knives are not ever on a table in a Chinese restaurant, we had to figure out how to cut them into bite sizes. Also, part of our table chose to order off of the regular (not dim sum) menu, and their food didn't start arriving until after we had received all of ours. We felt bad having to eat in front of them, but we couldn't share with them due to dietary issues, so they encouraged us not to wait. So the food was really good, but other issues made it a less than impressive experience.

On another part of my adventure in Chicago I dined at Triple Crown Restaurant in Chinatown Chicago. The restaurant itself was very neat and looked very well kept. As we sat down I let my friends (who are native to Chicago) order the food...and it was delicious! Each item was full of its own unique flavor my absolute favorites were their bao which is like a dumpling filled with either different meats or something sweet like custard or chocolate, and their sticky rice. Sticky rice is prepared in banana leaves and has Chinese sausage and some sort of egg that tastes good when eaten with the rice. There are so many options to choose from here so check it out and have fun with the choices you have and make it interesting! Enjoy!

This place looks like it hasn't changed in decades, because it has not. The place is outdated and does not have great ambiance which is okay with me because I am here for the great food coming out of the kitchen. They make soups with great depth of flavor, unlike some of the other neighboring restaurants. The duck dishes here are outstanding. If great Chinese food and not so great ambiance is what your looking for then this is your place. I did not give the highest rating because the place could use a rehabilitation.

First, I will say the food was pretty good. However, service was not. No one came to take our orders until we flagged them down. Drinks that were ordered were not brought until servers were reminded of the order. There were 6 of us and each order was brought out at different times. Also, it wasn’t very clean, especially the bathrooms! Would not recommend this restaurant.

My daughter loves to hit the K-Pop store in Chinatown when we visit Chicago. We wandered into the Triple Crown for authentic Chinese. We were happy to find the Dim Sum here at the Triple Crown. Tried many new items to us and were not disappointed. Recommend you try a variety from the Dim Sum menu. Prices were very reasonable.

I truly like their dim sum menu (served also for dinner) and the rest of the menu. Portions are huge

Food was mediocre at best, service ok, restaurant was much better years ago. Asian food is my favorite, was very nauseated after eating here.

No issues getting in. Server was attentive. Not a fan of our dim sum coming out at different times and would have preferred everything at once, but everything did come out quickly. Some of the food tasted the same but was very good. Egg drop soupd was watery. Would have liked more sauce options. Very clean compared to nearby restaurants. Prices were fair. I enjoyed the view from the second story. Would come back again.

We arrived well past the lunch hour, but service was super slow. Maybe due to us being in a corner instead of on the open main floor. Regardless. Took a long time to get water, refills, food, etc. Food was spectacular though! Honestly some of the best Chinese I've had in a long time. This restaurant changed my mind about dim sum. I was NOT a fan of it as a whole, but this restaurant changed my mind about it.

Let me start by saying we went there at an off time. 2:30 PM. Egg Drop soup would have been very good if it was warm. After sending it back, it was only 1 degree warmer. Pu Pu platter appetizer nothing special at all. Seafood trio entree not any better. Very bland. However, Mongolian Beef was outstanding. That's the standard they need to achieve for all dishes.

I was familiar with 2 other dim sum houses, one has been torn down and the other with a new name. We chose Triple Crown due to the traditional carts. Caution, dining is on the 2nd floor. We had to carry our stroller upstairs and fold it. All of our favorites were present, taro cake, turnip cake, lotus sticky rice, etc., but we found a few new favorites including the shrimp and corn dumplings and the coconut cake, which was like coconut jello jigglers. A sweet ending. 2 adults, a healthy 6 year old and an excited toddler filled ourselves for $45. Additionally, much of the staff speaks very good English and even with the carts were helpful to go find items that you would like. They also have a picture menu with brief descriptions to watch for goodies.

Discovered this place years ago and don't know why I waited so long to do a review. I was on a mission to find great pork and shrimp dumplings and this place has the best. Everytime I have had them they are great. The staff is quick and efficient. They are not going to stand around and chit chat. They will answer any menu questions. Seating is quick, I don't think I have ever waited more than 20 minutes. If you are anywhere near Chicago's China Town please don't miss the experience.

I wanted to get some dim sum in chicago but didn't have much time. So I tried this place after they told me they validate parking for that big chinatown parking lot. The wait time on Sunday was around 20 minutes so I decided to take the stuff to go. They have a picture menu that you just mark off the items you want and they bring it to you. The price per place was from $3-$5. This is a little pricey compared to the prices in California, but the food quality was better than the options I got living in Ohio and Washington. The food was good but the tofu got me a little sick. I would try this place again. Good place to go if you need to validate parking with $10 spend.

Worth the visit and the food was alright. Would visit again. The dumplins were the best of the lot, just dont ask to use their toilet.

A true Dim Sum experience where each dish is brought out in bamboo steamers and placed on the lazy susan table top. The half duck was also perfect and full of flavor. An extensive and almost intimidating menu but each item was perfectly cooked and full of different flavors. Great people watching and a great overall experience.

The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the building. Hidden & don't miss it. Dim sun & small plates appropriate for sharing. Lunch menu has pictures with familiar selections. Affordable & comfortable. Food comes out hot, perfectly prepared & presented

My son and I stopped in Chinatown for a lunch. Close to the train on Wentworth. Restaurant is upstairs , look up for the signage. They offer a nice selection of Dim Sum. Before you order, look on the table card, both sides, they offer daily specials at a better price. I noticed them too late and had already placed my order. They are quick , so there is no time to change your mind. The food was good. Really enjoyed the green beans... no meat... so tasty! My son loved the sesame chicken. We had a nice table that faced the street and he enjoyed being able to look out! Enjoyed our lunch.

We enjoyed our visit into China town. This place is right at the entrance. Its on the second floor. We were seated right away. We got a pic menu and description of each dish for dumplings. It was dummy proof. We got the shrimp dumplings which were so light and tasty, we enjoyed our first time trying chicken feet, we liked the shrimp and pork bun. Dessert we enjoyed the piggy dumplings made with custard. We also enjoyed a really large bowl of chicken corn soup. It was such a reasonable bill and we lovec the food.

We came here on a Saturday evening and the place was busy. The service was totally lackluster; she took our order but never spoke to us. The food was good and our entrees came out fast. The prices are reasonably. Facility is like the majority of the restaurants in this area and you have to accept the fact that the Chicago Health Department is not doing its job.

The shrimp dim sum and salt and pepper eggplant were awesome! Could have just made tjat my dinner! Service was quick and food fresh.

The popular spot in China Town. Had trouble communicating with waitress, but food was good. Even my children enjoyed it. Hot tea didn't have any flavor though.

Hey saw the 4-5 🌟 reviews and tried it too! We loved it. Yum! My friend forgot her sweater there, thought it was lost, & they had it. We went back the next day to get it & had more great food! Thx👍🏻

They have a huge range of dimsums to choose from. And they are really good. The waiters are good in suggesting one of your choice. I like their fried rice which is flavourful unlike most of the Chinese restaurants who serve very bland fried rice. We also tried Hunan crab and spicy pork. They were both awesome. Portions are good. Park in front of the restaurant and pay on the roadside kiosks. Or you can also park opposite the library. But construction is going on in that area . This is our second visit and we love it.

Triple Crown catered our wedding and 2 years later this is still the best Chinese food/wedding food that any of our guests and us have ever had!! Spencer Ng created a menu that was diverse yet agreeable for all 200 of our guests. A lot of our wedding guests have not had much Chinese food before but to this day everyone still raves about the food. Many of our guests asked which restaurant catered our meal and they could not wait to go to the restaurant themselves! Our menu included: Chicken Corn Chowder - Velvety smooth, creamy, beautiful spirals of egg and corn. Very traditional and super tasty! Beef Tenderloin - So tender and flavorful! Stir fried Shrimp and Scallop with XO sauce - The shrimp just popped in your mouth it was so fresh Japanese egg tofu with black mushroom over bok choy - Cooked so well, the japanese egg tofu was so delicate and delicious! Crispy Fried Chicken - Spencer cooked this on site and it was phenomenal Fillet of Sole stir fried with Sugar snap peas - The favorite dish of all of our guests! Lucky Fried Rice - Very traditional and very tasty Double Happiness E-Fu noodles - My husbands favorite, wonderful flavor and wok essence! As more time passes we are more grateful of Spencer and his team for making our wedding such a night to remember for so many people. Thank you for all your hard work, we will always love Triple Crown!!!!

This was our first visit to Chicago's Chinatown. Thanks to Yelp we ended up at Triple Crown for lunch and dim sum. While the service was a little unfriendly, the food was great and incredibly reasonable. The pork buns were fabulous, as was the curried calamari and sea weed rolls. We would definitely return!

This was a busy place. We took a number, had a long wait. So-so food. Erratic, sluggish service, each dish coming one at a time with long pauses between. As a positive I can say that the menu is long and has everything one could ask for.

Large restaurant with an expansive menu. Reasonable prices, friendly staff. Clean bathrooms and delicious dim sum. Also validated our parking! Fun to eat on the 2nd floor overlooking the street. Would eat here again.

A girls weekend with no agenda and we decided to stroll around China town and grab lunch. It was hard to pick a restaurant- some looked dirty, others had no customers and some had dishes too exotic for us. We decided that Triple Crown would be a good option because it was very crowded and over half the dining area was full of Asians. They are known for dim sum. We had never had it before. We tried a vegetable dumpling- it was good but we didn't love it. We had more traditional "Americanized Chinese"- chicken fried rice (there was very little chicken in it and no vegetables except bamboo sprouts), egg rolls and crab rangoon. The crab rangoon was our favorite. The tea hit the spot on a cold day and that was the right amount of food between 2 of us to share. I would love to go back with people who have been there before and know what is good to try more dim sum. Some tables had 10+ dishes brought out to them. We just weren't in an adventurous mood.

The waitstaff were efficient, friendly and helpful. The food was brought out in a very timely manner. We each enjoyed our meals. For some it was our second time and a first. We will definitely come again.

Had shrimp dumplings, fried sticky rice and fried curry octopus. All very authentic tastes and good.

Great Place to come and have dim sum. You order from a picture menu which helps you with what you are ordering so all dishes arrive to your table hot not sitting around. Reasonably priced about 15 bucks for generous portions each

We stopped here after asking a local clerk in Chinatown,Chicago. We sat family style with a big lazy susan to share all of our awesome dim sum and specialty dishes with each other. Great atmosphere and quick service and great food with lots of choices for all types of eaters.

Great dim sum, service, ambience, and price. Very traditional and fun location. We came around 10:30 on a Sunday morning and were seated immediately by the big windows. It got busy quickly!

After 3 hours of shopping around Chinatown we were ready for a good snack around 10:00 PM We had been looking at all the options. Most were open but barren. We decided to go with the one that was still quite busy. In my experience and I'm sure yours as well, the busiest places typically are the best. First off, the atmosphere is very invited and quite authentic. The Dim Sum selection was small but adequate and very delicious. the regular menu was large and had a nice wide range of entree's so that even the pickiest eaters could find something. I was a bit surprised that our service was lacking. We had to flag a server down for everything we needed...everything! We didn't bother telling them one of our entree's was the right one because really it didn't matter, it was all good food with the exception of the extremely dry Chicken Skewers. You can skip them. But the Soup Dumplings and everything else we got was really tasty. The final say...We were very pleased we tried Triple Crown and will go here again.

We had a wonderful experience here for a Sunday dim sum brunch. We were being taken out by regulars, so they took care of the ordering. What a feast! At least 10 different kinds of dumplings, (some pork, some vegan, some fish), stuffed peppers with shrimp, eggplant with shrimp, and chicken feet - a delicacy new to me but very tasty. Very helpful to have locals to help with food etiquette, serving and ordering. Don't miss the soup dumplings, a delicate standout for me. Sauces were all delicious. This is not at all touristy and mostly peopled by Chinese; very crowded and popular -- long line after 11 so we were glad we went early. Consider reserving. The bill for 4 people with all the food and service was under $100. We look forward to a return.

It's fantastic soup dumplings- just incredible taste!!!!! Dim sum is also very delicious with shrimp, scallops - taste very very good!!! Mmmmmmm.....!!!!! Yummy food!!!! I'm in love with your restaurant and your food!!! My also recommendation to try - Golden duck- it's just simply great!!!!! Me and my husband love this place and we definitely will come back again and again and will recommend this place to our friends!!!! Thank you very much to owners of this Triple Crown Restaurant!!!! Bob and Artem

We really enjoyed Dim Sum for lunch here - the picture menu made all the difference (having had Dim Sum other places and not knowing what we were getting!) Our kids (5 & 7) enjoyed what we ordered as well and tried everything! We had 5 small plates for $20! Service was nice and helpful when we had questions. I'd go back every time we're in Chicago!

First, the food was good. We ordered a couple meals, dim sum, and eggrolls and it was plenty for our family of 4 (two young kids). Service was only so-so we had a few serving us and it might've bene better if it was just one and she knew what we had/didn't have. Overall we were happy with our choice!

After Chinese New year parade had to have dim sum. Good variety, great quality and tasty. Great service and quite inexpensive. Recommended.

Very good Chinese seafood restaurant. We tried a shrimp dish and another dish with shrimp, scallops and squid. It was said to have a hot sauce, but it was not by any means hot, but very well tasting. I recommend this restaurant for genuine Chinese food, in particular fish and seafood.

Ordinary! Nothing especially tasty or overwhelming here & the service was not friendly. I wasn’t told about their lunch specials & so I ordered a $19 entrée. Later I found out that there were almost the same entrées on their lunch menu for $10. I thought this was unkind & unwelcoming of this restaurant. I’ve posted photos in my review, along with my bill, so you can see what I had to eat. I just got your run of the mill Chinese stir-fry, wonton soup & shrimp rolls with tea. That’s what I was craving because I had dumplings the night before. I had to request the tea because it was not offered to me. So many wonderful Chinese restaurants in Chinatowns all over the world. I won’t return to this one!

I was at this restaurant with a group of folks from a university with which I volunteer. We were in Chicago for a conference. There were several of us and a couple of folks had some food allergies/intolerances. The wait staff at the Triple Crown were very helpful in picking out some items that would suit all of us. All of the food was very good and the service was friendly and quick. We had a very good time.

Braised chicken feet was the best we've had although scallop & shrimp dumplings, chive & shrimp dumplings, and congee were also very good. Bathroom was fairly clean and service was quick. Reasonable prices.

We had the Shumai, Roasted Duck, Salt & Pepper Shrimp, and Glass Noodles stir fry. Hot tea and waters were served to us soon after we were seated. Dishes came out one at a time, so I recommend family-style eating. Food was a 5-star, but really a 3-4 star on ambiance (it’s very loud and hot) and service was lacking, felt very much like we were there to eat and then get the table turned. But like I said, the food was a 5. So I’ll leave it at a 4 on my overall.

We sampled about 7 different dishes from the dim sum menu. Everything seemed to be made in-house and fresh with all of the standard offerings. All of the dim sum were very good but the pan-fried pork and shrimp bun, chicken feet, and stuffed sticky rice were the standouts (and were phenomenal!) We also got the Singapore rice noodles which we thoroughly enjoyed. The service could have been a little more attentive but it was late... so it's understandable.

I went here today around 1:30 for dim sum. I did not mind the delay between the 3 dim sum orders and each was served hot. The soupy dumpling was served hot and full of the juicy soup. I liked that it held in tact. The flavor was average. I asked for water and indicated no hot tea. Instead I received no water the entire Meal. I found it odd that the server set a hot tea pot down on the table. She never set a tea cup down to drink it if I did change My mind. No one ever asked if I needed anything or if I was ok. Go figure they did charge for the tea. I just wanted to try this place out. I did not correct them on the overcharging for tea and I did leave a 15% tip. I will never go back see no reason that I would recommend this place to anyone. There are better options in the neighborhood. I will give them a solid rating 3 for this visit.

Dropped into Triple Crown while in town for a concert, specifically wanting dim sum, and wasn't disappointed. We got four dishes (siu mai, bbq pork buns, fried chicken dumplings, and sticky rice) and it kept us well satisfied until late in the day without breaking the bank - even our local dim sum restaurant back home isn't as affordable!

The food is quite cheap, but not tasty, the service was the worst. When asking for ground pepper, the bus girl just pointed to no where assume that we were regular there. The server never bothered to check on us after taking order. Avoid if you can!

We ordered a few items from the appetizer & Bao menu and a large beef stir fry noodle dish. All of the food was delicious and served quickly. Service is friendly and menu has many options for all budgets. They have daily bar drink specials too. Good place for small and large group gatherings. Family friendly atmosphere

Totally hit the spot for our dim sum craving. Triple Crown is a traditional dim sum parlor (reminds me of China Pearl back home in Boston) with a variety of carts, but they also will take orders for specific items. This helps with a big dim sum pet peeve of mine -- filling up before getting the items I want. Tasty dumplings, properly greasy fried items, congee, steamed buns, and a few stray vegetables hiding here or there. Not unique or exceptional, but a very good representation of classic dim sum.

So nice to have late night options when craving Chinese,in most cities Chinese restaurants are the first to end their business day leaving Chinese food lovers frustrated and hungry! So that being said even mediocre Chinese food is good when available this late at night, this is even more true after a night of heavy partying. In the case of Triple Crown the food though not spectacular came at the best time, and the different dim sum items we ordered went from quite good to so so. The atmosphere at about a quarter to midnight was nice with mostly a few late night revelers (die-hard partiers to be out on a Thursday night for sure!) and a couple tables of budget conscious students probably sharing dishes. I must say the service was on point, and the young man who took our orders was unusually friendly for that late hour. Good service with a smile is always appreciated. Anyhow it might've not been the best Chinese meal I've had but boy would I give anything to have them around open late night in my hometown!

Went on a Sunday at 2pm, the place was about half full. You have the option of eating from the carts or ordering from the picture menu. Service was excellent, most employees spoke good English. The food we got from the carts must have been circulating for quite a while; two of the three dishes were barely warm. The food we ordered from the menu, however, was piping hot. Portions were good and the prices low. Food was nothing spectacular, but all typical dishes were made well. Recommendation? Unless you get a seat right by the kitchen door, order from the menu instead of the carts.

Awesome Chinese and one of the best in china town which is why i always end up going when I’m in chicago. Just try and see for yourself.

Definitely plan to return to the Triple Crown again. Excellent tasting food. Loved the lemon chicken. I would go back just for that dish. We can't find it as good from the typical Chinese take out near home. And we have tried a few hoping for something similar without luck. Plus, the portions were huge.

The waitress was rude, yelled at us that it was 8:30. They closed at 9 pm. We quickly ordered hot sour soup, crab Rangoon, egg roll and pot stickers( imperial). Also kung pao chicken, salt and pepper soft shell crabs, and beef chop suey. The food was terrible. It lacked taste. The womens bathroom was so filthy, it was cringeworthy. No tea was offered. I have never left a review like this. We were in the city just for the night. One of the ABC 7 Chicago food reviewers picture was on the front door so we thought, let’s try it thinking his endorsement of the place was good. We’ve been going to Chinatown for decades. We will never go back to this awful restaurant.

Chinatown was on their bucket list! Place was nice & clean food was just okay & service needs a little improvement! I have visited other Chinese Resturant that had sweet hit tea & almond cookies. I guess that was considered a no-no to ask for because the waitress was clearly upset at my request. Party of 7 two adults with three tweens and two ages 8/10. Gratuity was automatically added to the sales check & .50 per person was also added. The one major plus is the servings are huge the orange & general tso chicken meal can feed two.

There's some of the best authentic dim sum here! I love the Fish Conjee, Shrimp Dumplings, Spring Rolls, and even the Beef Chow Fun. However, the wait is pretty long and it's pretty crowded most of the time. However, I would totally recommend for an amazing Chinese Restaurant!

The selection is great and the food is amazing. The service is fair as we weren't sure who was waiting on us. The food comes out very quickly. Our favorite dishes were: Stir-fried Beef Flat Rice Noodles, Har Gow Dumplings and the Sesame Chicken. Avoid getting the Siu Mai (Pork & Shrimp Dumplings).

During our stay in Chinatown, we stopped in for dinner. We ordered the appetizer sampler, hoping to experience some new, authentic flavors, everything was really bland and boring. The fried rice was good. Our waters were always kept full, that's a huge plus.

My wife and I trekked over to Chinatown for some dim sum and stumbled upon Triple Crown! Wow! We couldn't have been more satisfied with our experience. They bring around carts full of prepared dishes for you to immediately choose from. We picked the fried sesame ball and shrimp and chives dumpling. Very tasty! I ordered the lunch special vermicelli noodle and my wife ordered general tsao shrimp (she's a pescatarian), and both were delicious. If you're in Chicago and looking for a great place for Chinese food, look no further!!

Dim Sum and all your Chinese favorites are here for your dining pleasure. It's located on the 2nd floor. The large windows offer great views of Chinatown while you eat. Service was fast and friendly. The food was tasty and served in big portions.

Since we were staying in Chinatown, we decided to try a restaurant that served dim sum. It was the only one nearby that was open late on a Monday night. We ordered a variety of items using the picture menu as a guide. Most of the dishes were delicious. Being newbies, we ordered about twice as much food as we could eat (total bill around $40 US). The waiter was very accommodating giving us take home boxes. We had a great first experience and I would recommend this restaurant. I especially enjoyed the orange decor.

Been living mostly in Shenzhen and HK past 10 years. My bar is not high in USA for Chinese food - but you can get a decent dim sum in LA and even Las Vegas. This place was horrible. Har Gow smelled fishy - the shrimp used were old. Chou Zhou dumplings were not even close. Shanghai soup dumplings had no soup inside. Chicken feet in black bean sauce were in a sickly sugar sweet sauce - Not a black bean in sight. My Chinese GF ordered beef noodle. Terrible. I mean, they could not even cook basic chinese food. And that is not that hard to do. The staff were rude, disinterested and all seemed unhappy to be working there. We could NOT eat any of the food that came and paid and left. We walked around Chicago's Chinatown - and got the impression that all the restaurants offering dimsum were being supplied with horrible frozen stuff from one supplier.

For a first time, we ordered the standard meals. The Cantonese fried rice is bland! The roasted quail was overcooked. Happily the roasted duck was an average value as well as the bun bao. Finally the pork steamed crepes are pretty good... not enough to me to reach out the average mark.

What can I say? This is a must do if in Chinatown. Quick to be seated no matter how busy. I like that they have both people going by with carts and you are also provided a picture menu to order items faster. Soy sauce & hot chili oil is not at the table but you can ask the server for them. Two kinds of spare ribs, four kinds of shrimp dumplings, turnip cake, Chinese broccoli was less than $40. I wish we had dim sum this cheap & good where I live!

I have visited the restaurant several times over the years and it is my GO TO place in Chicago. They make the dim sum from scratch, so it is never overdone.

Food here was fine. Serving sizes were large and we ordered too much. We had two dim sum, one stir fry a vege dish and rice. Didn't need the vegetables as the stir fry came with a lot of vegetables. They brought a different bottle of wine to the one we ordered and didn't even explain so marking them down a bit for that.

Stopped in based on its high rating. Considered the dim sum but the pictures were not appealing. We did order one dim sum dish and the consistency of the filling was awful. We shared a chow mein and a chicken lunch special. Nothing fancy or veery tasteful.

This place is great! Very reasonable prices for dim sum and everything was absolutely delicious! I will totally come back!

DimSum is ok but don’t order anything with octopus ! My husband was sick for entire week after eating here. Th e ladies bathroom toilets [2] were not working . I would add a pic but it was so disgusting i will spare the reality of how negligent the Resturant is in cleanliness . Truly spare yourself of destroying your trip to Chicago with the possibility of illness from this restaurants lack of cleanliness. Disgusting I am shocked that this restaurant appeared so well reviewed by trip advisor.

I have to admit I am a Chinese food snob.I think that NYC has the best Chinese food in America. When a Chicago cabdriver told us that the food at Triple Crown was the best Chinese food in Chicago it raised our curiosity. We started out with 2 choices from the dim sum menu.Vegetable dumplings and shrimp chive dumplings. The dumplings were homemade and tha fillings were delicious. We then had salt and pepper string beans. They were delicious. They had garlic and jalapeños on them and other delicious spices I am not sure what it was.We had oysters steamed with garlic and black bean sauce. It was great. We also had Szechuan Shrimp which was nicely spiced over a bed of broccoli. We couldn't finish the small Chinese wild mushroom soup we ordered.A small soup is enough for three.I also had 2 Lucky Buddha beers which went perfectly with the spicy dishes.Upon paying I asked the cashier if there was a Chinese bakery nearby that made almond cookies. She said we have almond cookies and sent over 4 cookies. We not only had great food at Triple Crown but we had a lot of fun.Who knew Chicago had a great Chinatown.

My niece and I went to the art institute and then here for a late lunch to take in a bit of culture. Took an UBER for about $5. Since it was a cooler day the .50 pot of tea tasted good upon arrival. You walk up the stairs to the second floor and our table was at the windows looking out over the street where we could people watch as well. Both of our dishes were good! Took the "L" back to our hotel right off the red line. Great outing.

My wife and I walked from the Hyatt to Chinatown for dinner and found the Triple Crown Restaurant to be a pleasant surprise. Enjoyed the soft shell crab and clam soup. The walk was an easy 30 minute walk to Chinatown. Plenty to of meals to choose from.....

Great experience going to Triple Crown restaurant in Old Chinatown. I’d definitely, go back but earlier time bc I got there just b4 closing. I ordered a few things to get a good sampler of items. Sooo, many items on the menu. Staff is very nice. If ur in the area take the Redline train to Cermak/ Chinatown come down escalator stairs & cross street make a left turn & viola Triple Crown is 50 ft from the corner. I recommend this restaurant.

The dim sum here is very good and there is a bigger menu selection. We were glad we came early because by noon there was a long waiting line. Service was good and friendly.

My hubs and I ate here; the food was great and cooked perfectly. We ordered 4 dim sum: chicken feet (for him- he said they were great but I didn’t touch them), soup dumplings (great), pork and shrimp wonton (excellent) and scallop dumpling (great). They brought out two sauces- one was very bland and had a faint vinegar flavor; we thought it was plum vinegar? They also brought out brown sauce (hoisin, maybe-it was sweet) and it had a dollop of a very hot red sauce in it. The tea served was nice and we shared a bottle of wine for less than $50 bill total. We left full. Chinatown is a very interesting neighborhood. We wanted to take the tour that goes through four restaurants and landmarks in the area but we had limited time.

Located on the second second floor, the restaurant is hugh. This was our first visit in four years. We had nine people in our party and did not have to wait. We enjoyed their Dim Sum because of the tasty choices and the large number of items (over 70). The items that were really outstanding included the green beans, pot stickers, hugh oysters, salt and pepper eggplant, shrimp dumpling, leek dumpling, BBQ pork (not fatty/chewy), curried octopus, and sticky rice. We didn't care for the corn shrimp and the breaded pork. Because the place was very busy, the staff stacked dirty dishes on the floor by the restrooms. We don't know if we will return.

Shrimp Dumpling, Steamed Beef Ball, Fried Minced Pork Dumpling, Shrimp Crepe and Beef Crepe are good. Deep Fried Taro was cold. It was the last entrée they brought out and the server kept telling us it was being made. Theoretically it should have come out piping hot and when we told them it was cold the manager said this is how they make the deep fried taro. They were nice and told us they would take it off our tab but when we received our bill it was not deducted. Next, they did not give us their Monday discount 20% off. They said it is not valid on a holiday. It was President’s Day but it was not busy. Most people work on President’s Day so not sure if you would consider it a holiday. I guess it is a rule so we will have to accept the fine print. Average, I would eat there but there are other dim sum restaurants with better service.

We ate there twice and the waitress recognized us the second time we ate. We saw the Original Triple Crown restaurant just a short distance away but didn't go there because the Triple Crown we ate at was so good.

Years ago I used to come to this place when it was new and they stopped serving the egg custard pies with other dim sum. They took it off the menu but now they have it again. The rest of the dim sum menu was standard but I did try mango roll that other places don't carry and it was great. Service is very prompt after order placed. No carts running around like years ago.

The dim sum is excellent. Stop there. The other dishes are ordinary, and portions are far too large. This is a highly rated venue. What does this say about the quality of Chinese food in Chicago.

Had fantastic lunch at this restaurant today. Some of the reviews suggest that the service is sub par. Did not have that experience. Everyone was kind and helpful. The food is the star here however. Had dim sum with crepes, roasted pork, Chinese broccoli with best oyster sauce ever. Many Orientals eating there. I spent about $35 on taxis from my hotel to this restaurant and back. Absolutely worth it!

The dim sum at Triple Crown is hands down one of the best in Chinatown. Their soups are so gigantic, they could fit the whole Titanic. Soup dumplings are outstanding. Some other faves are the bbq pork buns, sticky rice wrapped in leaves, and fried taro. Love their hot tea. The wait is usually short, and so worth it.

I fell I love with the green beans here. The dim sum is also fantastic. A great place to gather with grooms family style for a very affordable price. Fun experience for the kids also.

We're looking for the dim sum place in Chinatown and we saw this one which closed to the parking lot. It's good choice with fresh and tasty dishes. The price was better than we expected it.

It's really hard to get any chicken item without their sweet sauce. I told them that I needed a spicy non sweet chicken dish and they suggested me to take general tsos Chicken which was also labeled as spicy in their menu. It's actually Sweet and sour chicken. There is no spicy. Nothing at all. They could tell us or suggested me something else but nope. Every time I ordered spicy non sweet chicken dish I had the sweet chicken dish. They simply don't know what's called spicy and non sweet. Very disappointed

This restaurant caught my attention upon my arrival in Chinatown.Quite busy on weekends so maybe the service might disappoint you a bit and it's only normal.Other than that the personnel was very kind.Typical Chinese restaurant hall on the first floor with the traditional round tables. They serve you a kettle of tea with every order. The food comes in huge portions so don't expect to try various dishes. It's impossible to eat this much! The quality of the food was very good and at very reasonable prices.I would recommend this place in Chinatown. It's a bit risky to just pick any place here.

Service was rude and the dim sum not enjoyable. We also ordered off the menu and found our dish to be too salty and uninspiring.

Dim sum was of poor quality, with fatty grissly stuff here and there. For instance, the "stuffed eggplant" was stuffed with pork fat. I mean PORK FAT. The kind of stuff you'd used to grease a barbecue The dinners from the menu were OK. Just. The waitstaff was bored, bordering on contemptuous. Has Chicago's Chinatown slipped to the point where this is a top-class restaurant? I hope not.

A friend who once lived in Taiwan wanted authentic Chinese food so we all tagged along. She ordered a bunch of stuff- dumplings, egg rolls, some turnip patty thing, etc. The table turned so we could all sample things. There were no forks so we stabbed things with chopsticks! :). The food was good & the bill was about $50 for 6 people to try some new food. Staff was friendly & patient with us!

Triple crown is a lovely establishment wow what a view you are greeted and seated really good authentic dishes inspired by old world tradition i love it everybody I take there love it also

Ordered a lot - their signature dumplings, the shrimp and chive dumpling, shanghai soup dumpling and the shrimp rolls and their kungpao chicken and egg rolls we had a very satisfying dinner. It is a holiday weekend, Saturday and we thought 4:30pm would be early enough…we had to wait for 15 minutes to get seated but when we left - there was a long line of people waiting to get in. We ordered shrimp rolls for take out too 👍.
A new experience for us - our worst dim sum ever had...
We had not been to China Town for many years, and the original Three Happiness was closed (that tells you how long it has been). We eat dim sum all around the world - we are by no means snobs, but know what it should taste like. We visited on a saturday at noon, which should be prime time for fresh, hot dim sum. For starters, our hot water for our tea was cold. The basic dim sum on the carts was also cold, which surprised me until I realized that all the "more sophisticated" dim sum had to be ordered from the kitchen. Thats when I realized the food on the carts had been making the rounds for an hour or more... We ordered several plates from the kitchen and the Chinese broccoli (kai lan) came out basically tasteless. We requested they put some sesame oil on top - but they said they did not have any. We left several plates behind, left uneaten because they were greasy and nasty. I love to eat and think hard before I leave food behind uneaten - but this was a no brainer...
