Old school restaurant

By bcsystems |

From the entrance to once you get inside and take in the decor, this place just gives you the vibes of old school restaurant. It is rather large and noisy place. The service was very good and a decent variety of steaks, seafood, Italian, and even sushi rolls on the menu. We were not too hungry so we ordered the bolognese, a salad, and lobster pot pie to share. The bolognese was not what I was use to as it felt more like meatballs as oppose to meat sauce.

A Good Night at Trivoli Tavern

By Rick Fazio |

Trivoli Tavern did not disappoint. Started the night off right with a slightly dirty martini, no vermouth, tossed in some blue cheese stuffed olives, and it was spot-on. The vodka martini, shaken not stirred, hit just as hard. Those olives alone are worth the trip. šŸø It was also great to see my good friend Bryan(plumper), who flew in for the week for work from Seattle. Always good catching up with friends over a solid meal. šŸ’– Started with some fresh East Coast oysters, chilled just right, and a bowl of New England clam chowder that was loaded with flavor, and hit the spot. 🦪 🄣 The fried chicken dinner was a standout, crispy, juicy, and served with smooth flavorful mashed potatoes and a super unique coleslaw that was nothing like the usual stuff you get around here. šŸ„šŸ„” But the real showstopper was the chicken pot pie. When I saw that bone with the bone marrow stuck in the middle, I was floored. What a move! It was unexpected! šŸ’– Wrapped it up with the Butterfinger pie, and it was the perfect finish—chocolate, peanut butter, and that signature crunch, with the meringue, the higher, the meringue, the closer to god! ļæ¼Every part of the meal was a hit. If you haven’t been, do yourself a favor and go. You won’t regret it! šŸøšŸ¦Ŗ 🄣 🐄 🄧 šŸ– 🧁 šŸ’–

Visited for a quick lunch and ended up staying longer than planned. The soups and salads were flavorful, and the bread tasted homemade. No long wait for food, even though it was busy. Relaxed vibe, friendly team, and you can actually hear each other talk.

Celebrating husband Birthday

By Nuha K 56 |

Beautiful vibe ambiance. Great service and delicious food. We sat outside and it felt as if we were in Europe. They are famous for their chicken pot pie, but in May we had the lobster roll sandwich and the fish and chips. Must order the coconut shrimp and hot corn bread.

Amazing …

10/10 phenomenal dinner spot, must make a reservation . I can’t say enough good things about this place…food service and atmosphere, great place to celebrate a special occasion

A terrible disappointment!

By tishvigna1 |

Although the restaurant is very cool and old world like, it was a terrible disappointment! How does a restaurant boldly advertise Lobster rolls, Lobster Pot Pie and fish and chips and at 5:30pm on a Sunday, the server tells us that they have run out of these 3 key items. We personally went there for the lobster rolls, imagine our dissatisfaction! Service was very good , thank you Westley and team but we Would not go back…

Beautiful Anniversary Dinner

By Clay G |

For Restaurant Week and to celebrate our anniversary, my girlfriend and I came down to Trivoli Tavern for a starter, an entree, a side, and a dessert. For the starters, we had the sushi rolls. I had the crispy shrimp roll and I really enjoyed it. Usually I’m not a huge fan of avocado in things since a lot of dishes tend to overemphasize it, but the flavoring here was subtle and actually enhanced the roll. My girlfriend who is celiac could not have the crispy shrimp roll but they were kind enough to substitute that out for a gluten-free cucumber roll that she really enjoyed. For the mains, I had steak and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked wonderfully and every bite was tender and delicious. My girlfriend had the gluten-free vodka rigatoni. A lot of gluten-free pastas are notoriously a little off but this one tasted incredible. She was also able to have French fries since they have a dedicated gluten-free fryer. For dessert, I got the key lime pie. Even though I could barely fit anything else in my stomach after the rest of the meal, it was too tasty not to scarf down. Also, since we were celebrating our anniversary, they gave a complimentary ice cream with chocolate sauce. Overall, I had a great dining experience at Trivoli Tavern. The staff’s attention to detail when accommodating my girlfriend’s dietary restrictions was extremely comforting. I’d love to come back again soon.

Best meal in Chicago

By Kelli R |

Arrived around 5pm on Friday night and grabbed a seat at the bar. Eddie took care of us and was incredible! He gave amazing recommendations and service! We enjoyed the crab ragoons, pigs in a blanket, ribeye Med Rare (cooked to perfection) spicy tuna roll, and date cake. My husband and I both agreed one of the best meals we’ve had in Chicago! If looking for a place to dine couldn’t recommend it more.

Great decor

By minnesotans4 |

We were impressed with the elegant supper club decor but the music was so loud we could not hear people seated across from us at a table for four. We noticed that our table was under a speaker which didn't help. We started with the 1/2 dozen oysters which were average. The Tavern wedge salad was exceptional. My son's truffle bucatini was rather bland. My husband thought his spaghetti bolognese was quite delicious which is quite a statement since we just returned from Bologna. My daughter and I split the Trivoli cut prime rib and the meat was very flavorful and done to our liking. The au gratin potatoes need some work and did not really care for the taste. The carafe of red wine was not to our liking. Nick, our server, was exceptional and was always checking to see if everything was ok. He was very personable as well. There were highs and lows to the meal so that accounts for the average rating. I think it's worth a second visit when we return to Chicago.

Garbage truck in the patio

By Dragos L |

Food is good but we waited for an hour to get it .. was a Saturday night.. We were outside tables around the corner!!! Big mistake!!!! Around 8 o'clock the big garbage truck pulls in and started to dump the dumpsters for about 20-30 min until we couldn't stay anymore and we left... The stink and the sound of the truck was unbearable Food is ok

Rancid shellfish

Avoid this place at all costs. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and ended up violently sick for hours after eating it. When I contacted Trivoli about the food poisoning, they completely brushed me off, claiming nothing was wrong on their end. After doing some research, I found out that often restaurants will resist admitting fault in cases of foodborne illness because it opens them up to legal action. It is better for bottom line to pretend everything is fine and hope you don't have proof. Let this review make a difference to you: don't risk ending up bent over the toilet all evening like I did. It is a shame the waiters were so kind. I will never be back.

Beautiful 1940s jazz club with phenomenal food!

By Katie B |

This was one of our favorite spots on our visit to Chicago! The restaurant including the outdoor cobblestone patio were gorgeous. Quaint and fancy both. Dress is upscale casual (especially indoors). Great for adults or families with teenagers. The food is wonderful. Portions are very large (including sides) so ask your server for recommendations on the right amount of food for your party. The sticky date pudding was excellent. And I have never said this before- the side of broccoli with buerre blanc sauce was fantastic! Our server was excellent. Highly recommend!

Best Restaurant in Chicago!!

By Megan |

Trivoli is expensive but it is so worth is. I think this is one of the best restaurants I have been to in Chicago. The ambiance is immaculate and great for any time of the day. I got the cheeseburger and it was by far the best I have had, even my friends said so too! Great options that are also shareable. Their service was a bit slow but it gave us time to catch up as friends. They even have a happy hour! I highly recommend this place and I will be coming back.

Fantastic ambience, food and service.

By Norman |

Visited for an evening meal with my wife and son. Can honestly say it's the best ambience we've experienced in Chicago so far, real theatre! Italian cuisine prepared and presented par excellence. Would definitely return, highly recommend.

Outstanding Restaurant where the food is only outmatched by the service

By Davis R |

We had a great experience at Trivoli. The staff is simple top notch. I think I only refilled my water once myself with the carafe on the table. Everything was just perfect. The Truffle Butter Bread service was great as were the pigs in a blanket. Our Steak Frites was perfect. The temperature was spot on and that's difficult with a thinner steak. The best dessert we had in the city was the Butterfinger Pie and the Brown Butter Ice-cream. These are not to be missed. The Limoncello was also a surprise. Absolutely order this as a Digestif with dessert. We were celebrating our engagement and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.

Out in Chicago

By Nuha K 56 |

Very bussy place if not over crowded. It seems popular for young ages. It is so hard to make a reservation. You need 30 days in advance. We had dinner for 2. Food very good and service is excellent. Not expensive.

Tremendous night

By PBC7 |

Restaurant is in a cool part of town (West Loop). You are welcomed instantaneously as you arrive. The restaurant is dark and the music is on the louder side but it is a supper club in the truest Midwest sense of the word. We went with friends and we did not have any issue talking with each other. Our server Stevie was fantastic. She was knowledgeable and friendly. Had drinks to start. I had a very well made Old Fashioned. We were looking at the house salad and she suggested the half portion instead of the whole. She was right on, it was delicious as well. One friend had the cornbread which was beautifully served and very tasty. I had the Shrimp Scampi, the shrimp were large, fresh and not overpoweringly garlicy. Delicious! My wife had the Orrichetti which was AMAZING. Other friend had the fish and chips which he said was really good. Whoever this this place is pricy is nuts. My shrimp was $25....where can you eat like that in Chicago? Trivoli will be on our standards list every time we visit Chicago. Don't miss this place.

A Hidden Gem in Chicago: Trivoli Tavern Delivers Great Food and Atmosphere

By Defne Ertuna |

Trivoli Tavern in Chicago is a delightful spot that effortlessly combines a cozy atmosphere with excellent food and drinks. Located in a charming part of the city, this tavern has a relaxed, inviting vibe that makes it perfect for a casual night out or a laid-back dinner with friends. What really sets Trivoli Tavern apart, though, is the drink selection. Their craft cocktails are expertly made, with balanced flavors that are both inventive and satisfying. I particularly enjoyed their signature cocktails, which showcased local spirits and fresh ingredients. They also have a good selection of beers and wines, making it easy to find the perfect drink to pair with your meal. The service is friendly and attentive, and the staff creates a welcoming atmosphere that adds to the overall experience. Whether you're stopping by for a quick drink or a full meal, Trivoli Tavern offers a fantastic blend of good food, drinks, and ambiance, making it a great choice in the Chicago dining scene.

Best Restaurant In Chicago

By Jame G. |

I’ve been to The Gage. I’ve been to BLVD Streakhouse. I’ve been to Terrace 16 in Trump Tower. This place tops them all. Has a speakeasy vibe. Incredible service. Incredible drinks. Delicious food. Cool vibe. You need a reservation.

Fantastic!

By Badcop |

We absolutely LOVED this restaurant! We found it when we were at Green Street Meats, since it's right next door. We went in to check it out and decided to try it for dinner the next weekend. They didn't have any reservations, but the lovely woman at the front was able to move some things around and fit us in. The ambience is wonderful. It felt like we went back in time, but in such a wonderful way. We were in a cosy booth and started with cocktails. They brought the bread pretty quickly, which we appreciated. My husband ordered an ice tea and they accidentally brought him a Long Island Iced Tea. It was no big deal at all, but the manager came over to apologize and they comped up an order or mashed potatoes and the iced tea. That's the way to provide great client service. Everything we had was delicious! The date cake for dessert was magic. I would say that it is probably our favorite restaurant that we've eaten at in Chicago and we've been to many. We can't wait to return!!

Great spot for dinner in the West Loop!

By Susan A |

We were celebrating two birthdays on June 20, 2024 and we had an amazing dinner with Jenna as our server. The Cornbread skillet was delicious along with the slow roasted meatball appetizer. We had the French Onion soup, Chicken Pot Pie and Spicy Shrimp pasta that were outstanding. The room is large and can be loud and we sat in the upper area in a booth that was perfect. We were surprised with local homemade gelato with a candle that made the night special!

European village vibes

By MKL |

We ate here yesterday in the early evening and it was a lovely visit! This place has a lovely outdoor patio that is tucked away in a quaint cobblestone alley. The second you turn the corner and start walking into this alley, its like you're transported straight into a European village. It's very charming and really set the vibe for the whole evening. We had a reservation for 4:15pm and I'm so glad we had a table reserved because it was PACKED already even though it was a little early for the usual dinner time crowd. I highly recommend making a reservation online prior to coming so that you don't have to wait! We had a lovely waiter who was able to recommend some drinks and dishes, which were all divine. We had the vodka rigatoni which was delicious and the shrimp scampi. The only thing we were disappointed by was that the shrimp scampi did not include pasta.... I know, I know, shrimp scampi doesn't *need* to include pasta, but at most other restaurants it does, and I'm sorry but $28.99 is really steep for 6 shrimps in a dish with some sauce and a piece of garlic bread on the side.... I ended up giving half my pasta to my fiance just to make it a full meal. We ordered the sticky date cake for dessert and we highly recommend! It was delicious. There is street parking available but we had trouble finding a spot so we opted for a garage down the street. Overall, lovely experience. (minus the lack of pasta). We will be back because we loved the vibe but probably won't order this shrimp dish again unless they decide to add pasta to the dish or provide more than 6 shrimps....

Outstanding

Great place, great food cocktails and drinks, very nice service. Special mention about the delicious dessert date cake. Overall a great place

Stunning place.

By Naomi H |

Beautiful place! Clean. Great, friendly, efficient service and food was delicious. The only complaint I had was that the music was too loud, we had to yell to talk to each other.

Unforgettable Dining Experience

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

What an amazing place in the trendy West Loop. The uniquely decorated wood paneled dark and cozy dining room is like stepping back in time but the vibe inside is young, energetic and fun. Service was excellent. Best of all was the meal we ordered. The filet mignon with bƩarnaise sauce that I had was one of the finest ever experienced. Our dining experience here was truly unforgettable.

Great service, good food but WAY TOO NOISY

By EileenPH |

We were a party of 7 for a birthday dinner. Our server was wonderful and most attentive. The food, while pricy was delicious. But the evening would have been so much better if the music was not so loud. It was hard to have conversation. Based on the noise level, we won't be back

Worth the visit

By KatWomanNYC |

Excellent prime rib. I also enjoyed the bread which I would normally avoid. Lovely atmosphere and not to loud to have a business meeting.

Great place

By kkc330 |

Everything was fantastic. The ambiance, food, service, music. All delightful. 100/100 would recommend. Would love to go back and try more—We were so full. Looking forward to next time here.

Don’t miss it

By Twinsmom99 |

This restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of great energy. The service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and perfectly timed. Now, let’s talk about the food! We started with the pigs in a blanket, which were perfectly golden and deliciously savory. The Wagyu cheeseburger was next-level—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. And the shrimp scampi? Absolutely divine! The shrimp were fresh and succulent, and the sauce had just the right balance of garlic and butter. Every bite was a delight, and the overall experience was fantastic. If you’re looking for a restaurant with great vibes, excellent service, and incredible food, this is the place to be. Can’t wait to come back!

Eh

By kathy C |

Good food. Pretty annoying how the hostess with short blonde hair was flirting with my boyfriend right in front of me though. Didnt even acknowledge me. Reservation was under my name and literally did not even look in my direction and kept asking him questions and giggling and not looking at me. We were also the only customers at the hostess stand so its not like she was busy. My boyfriend was even shocked. Would not recommend going here on a date!!!!!

Trivoli Tavern has the best atmosphere!

By crunch6 |

We love the upscale atmosphere of an elegant 1920's supper club. The decor is just so stunning. The food is absolutely delicious starting with the cocktails and appetizers, the salads (enough for 4 people), entrees and desserts. The staff is so attentive.

A very cool place with a great ambiance!

By Jurgen P |

A very cool place with a very good ambiance, very good service and food. Drinks are measured and small. Even the way into the restaurant is a cool alley.

Wonderful dinner

By Life2Travel |

We had a wonderful dinner from start to finish. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, service was attentive. We enjoyed the chopped salad, burgers, chicken pot pie and the ribs. Desserts looked great but we were too full. Will definitely return !

Stellar Experience

By alirblack |

I couldn’t recommend this place enough. The whole experience was incredible. From two service industry folks who were celebrating our anniversary, it was so nice to be on the other side and they did us so well. We will be back, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Great restaurant in West Loop

By Twinsmom99 |

Absolutely adorable restaurant! We enjoyed the crab rations, shrimp scampi, and steak and frites. All were delicious. Great ambiance (but quite dark).

Great food, great atmosphere

By David |

What a great place! Really cozy and atmospherically decorated. The music fits perfectly (blues). Our server was super friendly and helpful. The food, the filet mignon, was very, very delicious! Perfectly cooked. If you're in Chicago, this is definitely worth a visit!

Dark & Beautiful

Please try and I mean TRY THEIR COMPLIMENTARY bread with butter! I enjoyed their cocunut shrimp and immensely loved the fact that this was a dark restaurant!

Best pasta ever!

By Joanna M |

- hands down, best handmade pasta I’ve ever had - very cute tavern- gives off Harry Potter Vibes - happy hour everyday from 4:30-5:30 (cheaper apps and drinks) - we ordered the vodka rigatoni & truffle pasta - both amazing

Full bellies and warm hearts.

By McKayla H |

Amazing food and fantastic service. Got the incorrect cocktail by mistake but staff was quick to fix me the correct one and gave us complimentary dessert as well. Loved the vibrancy and look forward to returning next time we are in the city.

Uber COOL vibe in this swanky tavern/restaurant

By Massimoo |

Dimmed lighting, swanky atmosphere and impeccable service highlight this West Loop tavern. A bit loud, and lighting dimmed (part of the ambiance), but impeccable service, fabulous food, tasty cocktails and stellar people watching highlight this destination.

Great New(ish) Restaurant in the West Loop

By Chris M |

This could be our new favorite place in the West Loop. It is owned by the same group that owns Bavette's (another fabulous restaurant), but the vibe is buzzier and more fun. Our food was excellent and the service was too. Highly recommended.

Old Europe

By godsbooboo |

This is a unique restaurant in a warm setting with great food. Accessing the restaurant via a cobblestone alley begins the feeling of an old European restaurant. The inside has a cozy feel to it even though it is a large place. From drinks, appetizers, to the main course, all was superb. The service was adequate and helpful as well. We would definitely suggest trying this place for a romantic dinner or for any size gathering of friends, family. The only complaint is the roughly $10 charge just to make a reservation. That money is NOT applied to the final bill.
