Family business that has been there for over 23 year, that's how long I been here. They prepare to order so there is a wait and well worth it. The food is A+.........Like others say dont let the area fool you, I will recommend my VP ti this place as I have confident in the service and food, I gi at least one, maybe twice a month...Satisfied Customer.

LOVE the Spinach and Potatoes ~ LOVE the veggie patties ~ LOVE the Rice and Peas! Don't Love the SLOW service. The food is so good, I was tempted to give an Excellent rating, but the service is so slow that it doesn't seem right. If you have the time to just chill and wait, THE FOOD IS WORTH THE WAIT!

Dang, this place is good. I couldn't find my original restaurant, but k we this one go decent reviews. When I saw all the cars out front, I decided to risk it. Don't let the area scare you away. The place is a true hole in the wall. Take out or dine in and you seat yourself. I had the Whiting fish and shrimp brown stew. It had onions and bell peppers, too. Sides were rice and cabbage. All good and the brown stew had a rich flavor. I mixed it with the rice and cabbage, yum. I went went the waitresses recommendation, but next time I am going to ask for something spicier. I can't wait to come back on my next trip to Atlanta. And they know what sweet tea is!

The food is not the same. It is overcooked, the conch was salty, the crab patty was not hot. I also got a vegetable plate and the vegetables were overcooked, not seasoned. New management are not cooking the food the same as the previous owners.

I checked out this restaurant, on a resent trip to Atlanta, The food was great. Wonderful flavor. Very tasty, nice portion, reasonable price. Great service.

This is one of those places that you go for the food and not the atmosphere. The boneless Jamaican Jerk chicken with black beans and yellow rice is amazing. If you don't like to sweat when eating then you might tell them you want it mild or medium. The staff is very friendly and the prices are low for the quality and amount of food you get. The dining room is pretty shabby, just like the neighborhood, so I don't recommend it for date night but if you want some great food at great prices then give this place a try.

Visited from Maryland and wanted some island food. I called a friend and he recommended this restaurant. Well let me tell you our hats goes off to the cook 6 times. All the meat was nice and sweet down to the hot and spicy jerk. The food was fresh cook to order love love that. The long wait was worth all the money We spent. WHOM ever the executive chef and sous chef is I need some lessons. Lol You have been touch with a gift. I will be back every time I visit Atlanta.

The service was great and the patrons friendly. This restaurant was not very busy for "dine in", but there were TONS of people in and out for "carry out". Lots of locals, too. That's a fair indicator to the consistently good food. The good: - Seasoning, sauces, and flavor was excellent! You will not find bland chain food here - The portions were very generous - The staff extremely friendly with great service. They were great at letting me know what's next - Mac and Cheese reminded me of my mom's - definitely a great side dish that's not out of a box - Home cooking feel with non-traditional dishes The bad: - This restaurant is in the back corner of a parking lot, kind of a "run down" feel (but it's very clean) - Non-traditional dishes, so I wouldn't expect my spoiled kids to find anything on the menu they would want beyond the Mac and Cheese - My bone-in chicken was so overcooked that pieces of softened bones were constantly finding their way into my mouth - surprisingly still juicy and tender, kind of a "all day in the crock pot" kind of chicken Overall, I will definitely eat here again when I'm in town. Be sure you're truly ready for a "taste of local food" when you come here.

The restaurant looks like an out of the way place that you might not give a thought to going in. The inside is clean an the atmosphere very welcoming. The food is very fresh. It takes a little longer to prepare, but the food is excellent. Especially the jerk wraps and goat. Prices are good for the money, Staff friendly

Easily in the top 5 best eateries amongst most Caribbean folks in Atlanta. Everything is hot, fresh and delicious! Curry goat, brown stew fish and chicken, patties, escovich fish, roti, callaloo, the soups ... everything here is crazy good. They also have an extensive vegetarian menu. I'm sure it's good, but curry goat is my weakness so I usually have that. Prices are fair and portions are huge. It's in a weird location (at the edge of a rundown strip mall) but people make the trek here religiously for the food. It's. Just. That. Good.

First time trying Caribbean food and loving it. Their snapper curry was good. I love their brown rice and veggies. The environment inside the restaurant felt like a foreign country.

My family and I have been coming here for about 10 years. I went back today for the first time in about 2 years. I forgot how good it was! This is by far the best Jerk Chicken, brown stew chicken, and beef patties I have ever had. It takes a minute to get your food, but it's always fresh. Kudos to the chefs and owners for not sacrificing quality for speed. The prices are very reasonable. For $9.50 you can get a large Jerk Chicken Dinner. You will have leftovers to take to work. Great Job!

Found this thru google maps with a search for nearby restaurants. Tucked away in an old strip mall off the beaten path. There were three take out orders ahead of us and another six which came in after us at 5pm on a summer Thursday. All were locals except for us. Well priced, good tasting, huge portions..........what more can one ask for? We ordered the jerk chicken with black beans, collard greensand brown rice. The second dish was spinach with dal curry. So good!!! Totally recommend.

It seems that relatively few customers dine in like we did, but mostly do takeout. Four firemen were ahead of us getting takeout so that was a good sign. The wait for the food was pretty long, but the food was well worth it. Many of the customers appeared to be Jamaican which is a sign of quality ethnic food. Great vegetarian and meat choices. Very close to Atlanta airport.

Wow! This place has a menu that rivals my Caribbean Roots! (Jamaican & Belizian)! I had the Conch...3 ways sauteed, fried, and Stewed Snapper w/ Shrimp, Yellow Rice, and Calaloo. My Sweetheart had : Salmon Salad, Oxtails,Yams, and Steamed Cabbage. We shared our desserts: Carrot Cake & Red Velvet Cheescake. This was my best Carribean Meal in Atlanta!!!! A New Fav for sure!

First Responders get a discount ,but NO MILITARY discount? Retired Disabled Vet(21yrs)!!!VERY DISRESPECTFUL...I WONT BE BACK!

This is our second favorite restaurant in or close to the 285 loop. Just an amazing place to eat. The jerk chicken with black beans and yellow rice, tropical shrimp fettuccine, and oxtail are superb and worth the drive. The place is not in the greatest area but there are always friendly people there with tons of airport workers and many police officers eating there regularly. Kitchen is very clean with average rating of 95 or so. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance. The staff is one of the nicest crew anywhere with employees who have been there for years. Huge menu with tons of specials and killer deserts. Lots of room for large parties. And it's super cheap eats.

like previous reviews its in an old tucked away strip mall .However, the service and the food is FAntastic. ..they also cater to Vegans and vegetarians. What more can you ask for....This Place is Truly a diamond in the rough

Found this place with a search on google maps to where I was staying. Tucked away in a little strip mall, a little off the beaten path this restaurant is a local hit. There were many locals ahead of us for take out orders, and many followed us with take out orders. Non stop customers at 5pm on a summer Thursday. There was a nice spread on the menu. We ordered the boneless jerk chicken with black beans, collard greens and brown rice. The second entree was a vegetarian specialty with spinach and dal. Huge portions, well priced, and very tasty. So good!!!

I love this place the food is amazing friendly waiters never not satisfied. Great service great foodš

Went today on a recommendation from family and it was all that I got the mixed platter that's curry goat curry chicken and oxtails lip smacking good a side of rice and cabbage and I was in heaven I will be back on my next visit!!!!

Excellent service and great food. Enjoyed the mango juice and the curried chicken was well flavored, tender and juicy. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit!

Visiting a friend while in Atlanta, she recommended Tropical Cuisine for dinner for me and my girls. I am NOT a big fan of hole in the wall island food because its usually so generic and mushy to me and not a lot of vegetarian choices.. Well when I looked at the menu for Tropical I was pleasantly surprised to find vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu. I ordered the Spinach and Daal, the Vegetarian Roti, vegetarian calaloo, rice and peas, lemon pound cake, and red velvet cake and I must say that EVERYTHING I put in my mouth was DELICIOUS!!!! Oh and they had this mango drink too that was crazy good!!! My friend ordered the curry goat roti and there was not a bite left. My girls cleaned their plates! Besides that the staff was SO nice and patient! On my return trip a week later, I got off the plane and when my friend pickd me up I told her to drive straight Tropical Cuisine because I had placed my order as soon as I landed! Love it!

Their jerk chicken is really good, but beware: the bone-in comes REALLY hot, as you should expect from authentic jerk chicken. If you are a little sensitive to spice the good news is their boneless chicken comes with sauce on the side so you can administer your own heat :)

I love this place. the staff is great and the food is awesome. I especially love the chicken and pasta with tropical sauce and the pepper steak

Very pleased with the friendly staff and unique menu options. The jerk chicken was spicy and delicious. Service was fairly fast, no complaints here.

Do not let looks fool you. This place is in the rough part of town and at first you would think I better not stop here. This place is amazing. Meat pies, soups, collard greens, chicken, red snapper. The prices are great too. I can not stress enough to try this place out. It is amazing

We've been customers for years and have referred all our friends and family. They have delicious vegan dishes such as: curry tofu, sweet and sour tofu, BBQ tofu roti, split pea soup and a great tasting veggie pasta( add tropical sauce) It's a great place to eat out with non vegetarian family and friends. They have something on the menu for everyone. I like that they can accomodate large parties. We gone there plenty of times to celebrate birthday's and graduations.

The jerk chicken salad is awesome. The wait is lengthy , but I think they cook everything to order. The guy at the register is very personable . It is a must try. Nice menu selection

Me and my family have been eating here for over 3 years. The food is great and the family us wonderful!! Tried the brown stew shrimp for the first time, it was so good, we went back again.

In our group we had native Jamaicans, Trinidadians, and Dominicans. Although the beef patties weren't on the list, they do sell them for $2. The saltfish and ackee with dumplings, little bananas, and yam were AMAZING! The sweet plantains were cooked perfectly throughout, and jerk chicken was deliciously extra spicy. Seems like the chicken was seasoned, cooked, and then had the sauce poured over it. The lemonade was made from scratch and comes with free refills. I feel the "long wait" that ones talk about in their reviews was exaggerated. The food is cooked to order so I feel it was a realistic reasonable time for non frozen food. During our dine in experience, I counted over 20 people that came to pick up their to-go orders! This is now our new go-to restaurant while in Georgia. We highly recommend it to family and friends!

A variety of dishes were all quite good. The place was packed at lunch so service a little slow, but definitely worth the slight wait for food. Food this good shouldn't be hurried.

Always a wait but worth it. Not my favorite spot for dine in but great food every time so the lines can get long. They will make it as spicy as you want. Today I'm having the small jerk chicken, bone in extra spicy, cabbage and yellow rice. Yummy!

I tried this place after seeing reviews on trip advisor. I took someone's advice and got the curry goat plate. It was good but I had lots of fat on the meat and bones, which I did not expect. Had I know about the bones, I would have ordered something else. Overall it was good but I would get the roti next time.

Friendly staff and a nice lunch. Goat Curry on rice is great. Akee and Saltfish served with several sides - no wonder it's the national dish of Jamaica! Will definitely go back.

My father in law, his wife, my hubby & of had a late lunch at Tropical Cuisine on a Monday afternoon. I ordered the escovich whole snapper w/rice & peas, vegetable medley & fried plantains. It was SUPERB! It was made to order & VERY fresh! My hubby has the curried goat w/rice & peas, veggies & fried plantains, it was delicious! My father in law & his wife both had the fried whiting & they enjoyed it. The service was good, however, if you're in a rush bypass this gem, because most of the food is made when ordered! I can't wait to return!

Looks like a hole in the wall, but service and food were excellent. Spicy Jerk Chickenāā Vegetable Samosa ā Vegetable Rotiā and Collard Greensāāā Definitely recommend for authentic Caribbean food. Service was fabulous and friendly, but food like this is not fast so enjoy. Four stars only as our plantains never made it to the tableš and Yams had too much sugar as did the Ginger Beer. Otherwise, was wonderful.

A family run business featuring Caribbean cuisine. Tucked away in a deteriorating strip mall, patrons and staff all wonderful. Ackee and Saltfish dinner was delicious, took it to go, took 15 minutes to prepare. Health department review 94% A, clean, dated interior, delicious food.

I consider this to be the best meal on my recent seven day trip to Georgia and Alabama. My spouse and I both had a generous portion of the jerk chicken that was quite tasty and well spiced. The main dish came with two sides. The restaurant isn't fancy, but I wasn't expecting fine dining. Our waitress was a bit overworked but very friendly so that I was willing to forgive having to wait a bit for my food. If I lived in the area, I would certainly go back to try the other dishes on the menu. Finally, dinner for two including tax and tip was only $20.

Tropical Cuisine has simply good food. They cook to order, so there is typically a bit of a wait, however, the food is well worth it. I ordered the callaloo and saltfish. It arrived piping hot and delicious for my take-out order. Prices are average. Service is friendly. The dine-in atmosphere is basic. The restroom is clean. It's very convenient to the airport and the interstate. I'll probably call my order in the next time, just to expedite pick-up.

The food was most deliteful. Had to wait alittle longer than usual. But good things come to those who wait.

The Jerk Chicken Pasta is to die for. The Key Lime Pie put me in a Happy Mood. The food was outstanding. Good service.

Great Caribbean food. Friendly staff. I ordered the Chicken curry, very good and very big. The restaurant is kinda hidden in the strip center.

This was our first time visiting and I must say the food was Great. The service was also great they were very professional and friendly. I am not a fan of vinegar in my greens I just donāt like the taste I told the waitress and without hesitation she changed it to the steam cabbage and I must say I was very pleased. I got the oxtails and my daughter got the sample plate with the curry goat, curry chicken and oxtails and she loved it. The Mac n cheese was for my Granddaughter and it was very good. I will return when Iām in the area and have a taste for good food.

The ox tails, cabbage, beans n rice all very good. Best Caribbean meal I've had in awhile. The entire menu looks great. I wish they were in Michigan with me!

Nice hole in the wall type place with great food. Don't be put off by the Location it's worth a try, I've eaten a lot of Jamaican food and this was good.

Very good service. Staff helped with selections. Not fast but very good. Hard to find but worth it. Salt fish and calaoo was delicious. Curry goat was great.

The food was yummy. After a long day with snacks and no real did, my husband an i were looking for a restaurant not familiar to our area (Mississippi). After a Google search we find Tropical Cuisine. As we were pulling up you wonder what is in this modest restuarant.... We found delicous carribeanfood. I gave the curry goat a try (I was feeling risky) and I was not disappointed. I have never eaten curry goat before, however ever bite was flavorful. My husband had the jerk chicken wrap, with tropikool drink. Our waitress was very nice and she took her time and was patient with me because I really did not know what I wanted. The atmosphere is relaxed there were several families and single people just sitting around eating and enjoying the afternoon. I definitely encourage you to stop by this restaurant if you're visiting the Atlanta College Park area near the airport. You get tasty food at a good price and quick service.

There service and food is top tier! My favorite is the Jerk Chicken Alfredo Pasta. I always order mine medium spicy. The pasta is cooked to perfection.

I had a long layover before departing back overseas. Called up a friend and this is the place she suggested!! Great Food.. Great Service! I will definitely go back!!!!

I am a big fan of Jamaican food and I thought this would be the closest thing to some good Jamaican food based on the reviews but it was very disappointing. If you are used to good Jamaican food don't order the fish here try something else. The rice was good, but the fish was not nor was the sorrell.
Food was yummy!
I visited this restaurant after taking someone to pick up food. They swore by it so I checked it out the following week. As an islander myself, the food was good. I tried the lunch portion curry chicken with rice and peas and steamed cabbage. Everything tasted great. I don't eat everyone's rice and peas but theirs was delish. They make theirs with gungo (pigeon) peas and not the kidney beans which I prefer b/c it's not dry. The curry itself had a spice to it but I enjoyed every drop. I gave it 4 stars because the checkout area was rather crowded and a hassle. Other than that it was great!
