I do not need 200 letters for this review. "The entire experience was really really good and it was not too expensive for SF city". The rest of the review is details. The atmosphere was fun. The food was fresh and flavorful. The service was attentive without being pushy. The pace of the meal was unhurried, but not boring. The only real complaint is the house wine was expensive.

Our first visit and we were very pleased. The variety was Mediterrainean food and it was new and varied. We had 4 different lunch dishes and they were all very good and served temperature hot.Fillmore is a great street for food. Can not wait to go back.Nice service.

No reservations required but it can’t hurt because this restaurant gets busy. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The hostess was pleasant and courteous. The menu is simple: appetizers, main course and beverage( beer, wine, tea, espresso and regular coffee). Everyone in our family enjoyed their meals. They were all cooked to perfection!

Wonderful food---wide variety of mezes or starter dishes and good variety/number of entrees. Wine list is not extensive but it is interesting---Greek, Turkish, French, American wines not outrageously priced. Restaurant has a very comfortable contemporary feel and service was first rate. Will definitely go back next time in town. Friends that live in the city recommended it highly and they were right on.

Enjoyed a light, informal supper with friends. Nice summer salads, halloumi and bread. The vegetarian tagine was especially delicious. Not busy on a Monday summer evening, great service, but likely to be a bit noisy when crowded.

We had dinner at this restaurant last night at about 6 p.m. and found it not crowded. We were seated very quickly and orders were taken promptly. We ordered items from "Bigger Plate" section of the menu as the menu is divided into "small plate" and "bigger plates". We ordered the shorts ribs and the lamb kebab. Both were very tasty and hit the spot just right for the both of us. However, if you are looking for big portions to fill a big appetite, 2 orders even from the "bigger plate" menu will not do it. The prices are a little on the pricey side but not out of line for this neighborhood. Worth a try if you're interested in Mediterranean/Turkish food. The service was also very attentive...

I came in for a casual lunch and glad that I did. They moved from Clement Street to Fillmore which was a smooth move. At lunch this joint is fast casual. Order at the counter, take a number, food brought to table. I ordered the chicken kebab combo plate. Chicken skewers, pita bread, and a side salad. Exactly what I wanted. At night there is white table cloth service.

I had been searching for a really good Turkish place in town. My party of three were all knocked out by this one. This place is great! The service was really nice, with what I took to be a couple of members of a Turkish family (I may be wrong) greeting us kindly, seating us, and telling us about the food. Our server was a really nice young man (who definitely was from Turkey!), who said that only a year and a half ago, he didn't know a single word of English, but now spoke it very well, in my opinion. Then there were a runner and a busser or two. All of them were very helpful, and gave us good advice about the food. Chief of which was the Moussaka! BOY was that good. It was so rich and hearty and sweet. The chicken shish kebab was also outrageous. The lamb meatballs made my friend very happy. So did the Turkish lentil soup (we all really dug that). So did the tagine, a mildly spicy-to-medium spicy sauce that went with their rice. You could eat the sauce by itself, it was amazing. Also, this roasted cauliflower dish was really wonderful. And the manti (little dumpling- or ravioli-like packets containing beef). Really, absolutely everything. They have a wine list that is not huge, but it's perfectly chosen, with some great beers and ales on tap, some fine Bordeaux wines, and even some Turkish wines too. They even have ayran! The decor was modern and very tasteful, and the space was very open and comfortable. It didn't have the deafening noise that some restaurants inflict upon you, just enough noise to be lively. Oh, and that chocolate dessert was OUTRAGEOUS. SUPER-good. If you're interested in exploring Turkish cuisine (and everyone should, it's really fabulous and underappreciated), I'd start here!

Came here based on TA reviews and was not disappointed. Food took some time to arrive which i like. It tasted freshly home made. Service was great from charming staff.

Nice space. The waitstaff were pleasant and earnest. We started off with a crisp bottle of assyrtiko. The Brussel sprouts and falafel salads were very good. The main courses of chicken and lamb kebabs were very good. We had two issues with the service. My wife and daughter both ordered the chicken kebabs. When my daughter said "I'll have the same thing," it was somehow heard as "I'll have the salmon." So she got the wrong entree. That was fixed gracefully. More annoyingly, the main courses were served before we were done with our appetizers. This is a pet peeve of mine and cost Troya a star. We still had a good meal and would give them another shot.

Stopped by with a large family group that has a wide variety of dishes (falafel, wraps, salads, kabobs, and bowls) and everything was great. Service was good, though we came at an off peak time. Prices were reasonable. We recommend this restaurant.

We were roaming around the Fillmore Jazz Festival this weekend and decided to stop at Troya Mediterranean Kitchen for lunch. As soon as we entered we were met and shown to a table. The tables are a litle too close together so you have to squeeze your body between them to get to the bench seating along the wall. (and I'm not fat) We reviewed the menu and while somewhat limited everything we ordered was outstanding. My wife and I shared the Feta Cigars, Turkish Meatballs and Arugula salad to start. The stand outs were the Feta Cigars - crispy on the outside, melted feta cheese on the inside with a bowl of honey and chopped pistachio pieces to roll it in. My only negative about it was that the honey in the small dipping bowl is watered down, making it hard for the pistachio pieces to stick to the Feta Cigar. The Turkish Meatballs were delicious. Slightly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. They come with haydari to dip them in - not that they need it. I just wish there were more than 3 on the plate. They forgot about my main course, the Lamb Rulo wrap, so they gave me some a complimentary plate of the Turkish flat bread with a dip. The wait was worth it. The flavors in the Lamb Rulo were incredible. I definitely recommend this place for a meal. It is reasonably priced and the food is very good. The two of us ate for $42. We didn't buy any wine or beer. My wife had iced tea and I had water.

Best place for authentic food !!!cheers !!! Perfect service ,ample choices in the menu ,excellent interior!! The owner is a great person !! Absolutely professional!!!!

The food is very tasty, and price is good. Loving the service as well. Fillmore Street is a great place to visit.

My husband and I dropped in for an early dinner here and had a wonderful experience. The vegetarian moussaka was A great blend of vegetables, lentils and spices. My husband had a wonderful honey and cinnamon lamb dish. We paired it with two Greek wines that we were not familiar with - and we were very pleased. Service as helpful with just the right amount of responsiveness.

On a birthday trip with my teenage daughter we chose this restaurant and it has become the benchmark upon which ALL OTHER RESTAURANTS are now rated in her mind. She L-O-V-E-D it! The decor was stylish, the service was excellent and the food was fantastic and well-priced. Five stars!

Saturday brunch inside listening to Turkish music was fantastic. We shared roasted cauliflower, fried Brussels (a little too oily) and spicy fries. Good Turkish ice tea and Turkish delight desert. Will return

I was here with a friend, and we enjoyed our meal but felt there could be some improvement - we started with the grilled avocado, then had Chicken Kebab (dry) and Braised Lamb Wrap (which they kindly made into a salad form to be low carb, but this protein was also overcooked). We splurged to share a Pot de Creme which was fine.

On a weeknight in mid-November when some of the Fillmore Street restaurants looked like they had room to spare Troya was busy and bustling with virtually every table filled. And no wonder: delicious food in a buoyant, friendly atmosphere. We love lamb so we naturally gravitated to the lamb dishes. First we had the distinctive and flavorful warm hummus with fried mustard greens and house smoked lamb bacon. Then Elaine had the grilled lamb kabob and Jeff the braised lamb shoulder. This was some of the tastiest lamb either of us could ever recall eating. It just melted in our mouth. Anyone needing a lamb fix and ready to head for Pacific Heights should definitely put Troya on their list. JeffandElaine

We had a nice selection of traditional "what you'd expect" food at a Mediterranean restaurant. Hummus, Tzaziki, ffafel, etc. The nicest thing was that it was not crowded even though we went on a busy Saturday. Would definitely go back--just wouldn't rush to go back.

I’ve eaten here on a couple of occasions. I found it better on my first visit but that was mainly because I choose better first time. It is a cafe/ restaurant that is open all day. For what you receive you are paying a little bit over the mark. Basic mains of two kebab skewers, 6 meat balls with rice and salad start at 18 dollars. The wine I noted was approximately 48 dollars for the cheapest bottle. I decided on the local cider at 8 dollars a can. Kebabs here are good but you are paying for it.

Excellent Greek food, friendly staff, and amazing value for quality of food. Great stop in for a snack or full meal, you won't be disappointed.

Good place. I recommend it. The flavor was very good on my lamb kabob - just the right amount of charred crispiness and the right amount of tenderness in the meat. Portions on the 2 kabobs were just right. Good balance of meat and vegetables (zucchini, onion, red pepper). I would recommend the restaurant tweak a couple of things. The portion of rice was too small. I had to order more rice, for which they charged me $3. This really bothered me. The entree plate was cold. Most restaurants know to warm the plate for an entree. And the hummus appetizer was cold. I prefer it warmed unless I'm at home pulling it out of the fridge. The wine was good, in my opinion; $9 for a glass of Pinot Noir. The dessert was great. Pistachio baklava with homemade ice cream. Total bill with tip was $68 by myself. I would come back.

We ended up going twice during our stay in San Fran ! Great meal, very good service. Definitively a place to go .

Very friendly & attentive staff for dinner. Very good chicken kabab & fried brussel sprouts. Loved the Harissa, spicy & flavorful. Lots of other items I would like to try in the future. Good solid Mediterranean food here. Nice setting. Definitely worth a visit.

The food is packed with flavor, the waiters are friendly and helpful, and the wine is crisp and cool.. All in one place!

The menu was delightful. The ambience is nice and service adequate. The asparagus soup was pretty good, the Turkish bread (like pieces of foccacia the size of 2 small bagels) was good, but seemed expensive at $4.50. The roasted cauliflower seemed flat and uninspired - about 12 bites for $12. For the sardines I expected whole fish as I would get in Europe, but there were just 4 filets at $12. I always find filets old tasting compared to whole fish and one of these actually tasted fishy-bad. We were told the baklava is the best ever. We are used to light, flaky, mille-feuille baklava with pistachios and honey. This was more like a tiny danish soaked in buttery-honey. In fact probably the actually worst baklava either of us ever had. So we were disappointed in almost everything we had. C'est la vie.

We arrived earlier than our reservation and were greeted warmly and seated at a well-located table. The decor is creative and pleasing. The menu offers a variety of inspired choices. I had the salmon brochettes, which were perfectly seared. The sauce was excellent, and the accompanying squash was prepared just right.

Absolutely delicious meal at Troya on Saturday. We split three small plates and two entrees and were plenty full. Our server helped us make some decisions on the small plates which were fantastic: lamb meatball, dipping trio and roasted brussel sprout. Lame kebab and Manti were our mains and were excellent.

We were there for lunch and had no idea what to expect. I can tell you: it was sooo good! We had to wait a bit, but it was all fresh and absolutely yammi!

The appetizer selection here is fabulous and changes periodically! We are especially fond of the roasted cauliflower and the peppers (similar to padron ones) as well as the tasty flatbreads. My husband loves the special little dumpling pasta with a yogurty sauce, and I often order the chicken kebab. It consists of two skewers over chickpeas and so if you've had appetizers first, it's s good dish to share. Atmosphere is friendly and casual. It's one of our neighborhood gems and we dine here often (and have introduced many friends to it) and always hope to get our favorite waiter!

I had Turkish Scramble. Instead of exotic cheese on the menu they tossed a few feta slices. The check came charging $1 more than on their menu. Being an accountant, I am good with numbers. Of course I didn't say anything. The dish was nothing special. The service was good, very polite and attentive.

We are big fans of Turkish food and I think it is a bit of a stretch to call this Turkish. The dishes were highly erratic and really overpriced. We were a group of 6 so we could have quite a selection. The hummus starter was nice but only 41/2 slices of bread. The green beans had about 9 green beans on the plate! Mushrooms also kind of lackluster . This isn't chef inspired food as much as a reasonable home cook. I don't think we had anything that most home cooks couldn't put together. The flatbread descriptions were nice, but again very lackluster. I don't think I would go back,

Fun Atmosphere and loved the small plate appetizers. Our friend was gluten free and they accommodated her nicely with suggestions for her meal. Brussel Sprouts were delicious as well as the cheese plate. My husband enjoyed the steak.

Love the food and ambiance at this small and local Turkish fusion restaurant. This is our go-to restaurant with my girlfriends. Great staff and delicious flavors.

By coincidence we found this fusion Mediterranean restaurant. Fillmore street is full of surprises. Good quality food close to Turkish cuisine with many variations. The setting is comfortable but modern. The service is very friendly. Would recommend you to try if you are on a walk on Fillmore.

Excellent med style food - lots for veggies and great service too. Spot on food and the restaurant is modern and distinctive

It was a find as we walked along Fillmore street and it appealed to the two vdgitarians with me! crispy brussell sprouts were delicious and the falafel dishes were tasty and well presented. I opted for the chicken wrap which was filled with chicken and taste. Great place for a quick lunch while out shopping and the staff were efficient and friendly.

This restaurant was a lovely place to have a casual dinner with a friend. The menu is definitely Turkish but with quite a few updates and surprising combinations. We had the Brussels sprouts (highly recommend) and some sort of citrus salad as appetizers and ordered the kefta kabab and chicken kabab for main dishes. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. I'd definitely go again!

Just had dinner here tonight after a friend recommended it. Food was wonderful! It is labeled as Turkish fare, but it is similar to Arabic food of other middle eastern countries. I had the braised lamb shank with spinach, mushrooms, and quinoa. My husband had the chicken kabob with veggies and cannellini beans (sans the hot paprika sauce). Both were scrumptious! Our waitress was prompt and helpful. Other staff who delivered food from the kitchen were also pleasant. We were so pleased that we plan to return in a few days. You can opt for mezza (small plates) of some of their offerings or a larger plate of full-sized entree. Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Just went by around 9 for a drink and a small plate. Got the cauliflower and the hummus with a glass of wine. Both meals were light and flavorful, just good enough to make you want to Keep eating it. Id like to go back to try the full size entrees

Lentil soup is amazing. Exactly how it is done in Turkey. Owners are friendly. The place is very tidy and clean..

What a lovely little place right in the middle of all the fancy shops and restaurants of PacHeights. We had great appetizers, Dolmas and Crispy Brussel Sprouts, and then a big Falafel Bowl and the Salmon Kebab. All absolutely delicious and very well priced. For dessert we shared the Sütlaç, a Turkish Rice Pudding. Wonderful service and very friendly and attentive. I'll be there again soon

We enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch, sharing three plates: Mizuna Salad, Brussels Sprouts and Braised Lamb Wrap. All of them were quite tasty and perfectly prepared. The hard-working and friendly staff made us feel quite welcomed. With so many options from which to choose on the Fillmore strip, this understated one is a great choice. We had visited once before, nearly a year ago, and this meal was even more satisfying. Glad we came back. And we will do so again!

The nice about this place: the outdoor seating is well done and the servers are masked and polite. The food: we ordered cauliflower (tasted good but very oily) and chicken skewers (chicken average and the rice with it was sticky and strangely flavored). This would have been a 3 star review if not for the plates. The food arrived on wood slabs with roughly missing bark that looked like someone fished them out of a garbage bin. I don't love rustic tableware in general but one of these wooden slabs had a nail hammered into it. I can't imagine this is a sanitary option for food service and recommend that they toss these and find normal plates.

Visiting San Francisco for my 14-year-old’s birthday and we decided to have dinner here. Now, most young teens may balk at za’atar spice and vegetable dishes, but not this kid. Oh no. The food was “possibly the best meal I’ve EVER had”, said the teen. She closed her eyes and tilted her head back at the flavors. She loved the decor. She shared all her dishes with me (her dorky mom) and asked if I loved it as much as she did. What a kid. What a place. They even brought her a little plate with 2 flavors of baklava, one with a candle in it. NOICE. We wish we had such a cute place in our city. Thank you, Troya.

Family outing last night to this modern Turkish Mediterranean cuisine eatery resulted in a most pleasurable experience. Starting with basic flatbreads, moving through yogurt and cumin-laced small bite delicacies, incredibly savory Mediterranean style braised sardines, octopus and other plates, delicious house bread dipped in amazingly flavored sauces, to lamb and vegan full plate kebabs, and, finally, incredibly good not overly sweet desserts with Turkish coffee. All in all a rewarding experience worth follow up visits. Hope these young chefs and owner keep expanding their horizons to produce more amazing dishes and tastes. All in this was an amazing experience. And guess what we drank during the meal-- rose champagne, red and white burgundies all of which complimented these savory darlings delightfully.

Excellent food served by a very friendly staff. Everything we ordered was delicious. Loved the wine from Greece although we thought it was a bit overpriced. Restaurant property is beautiful with ample outside seating. Outstanding recommendations and flawless service provided by Filiz.

Had dinner with two friends at Troya. We closed the place. So, it's a great place to have a conversation. The staff is really friendly and the food is prepared and presented well. They offer a simple and unique Mediterranean cuisine. I had the vegetarian dish.

I suggested this to two friends based on reviews locally when Troya on Fillmore first opened. and the fact that I had a Groupon. The menu seemed great, but my hangar steak was served cold and quite rare rather than medium rare, the roasted cauliflower not roasted well or seasoned and still semi raw, & the chicken kebab was underseasoned by anyone's standard. My one friend reported her short ribs were "okay, I guess".The beet salad was uninspired as well. Even saving a few $ on the $40 off Groupon, the meal for 3 with 3 appies, 3 entrees and three glasses of wine (we skipped dessert based on the issues with the earlier items ordered) came to $125 before tip. We tipped well because the service was good, but I'd not go back here based on food quality.
Fresh food, friendly staff
Had a wonderful meal here recently when looking for something fresh and healthy. Selected a few different items to share and wasn't disappointed. The food we had was fresh, high quality and certainly of a mediteranean style. A good wine and beer selection matched well to the food. Our female waitress was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the food being served which ensured a very enjoyable night.
