Wonderful seafood

By smithsher5 |

Very nice dining experience. Lovely ambiance, and very good food and service.. The seafood is delicious. My husband and I enjoyed the King crab which they are known for.

Horrible Customer Service

By T A |

Miles the waiter was horrible! My colleague and I decided to visit Truck Seafood as we heard such wonderful reviews about the menu from the Post Oak Uptown staff. We like to visit locations and add the good ones to the list of recommended locations in that city. Miles our server was very annoyed with us from the time he came over to introduce himself and pour the water. We thought it was just a long day and he would warm up to giving good customer service. However, as we asked about ingredients in the drink menu he constantly repeated that he did not know and that we should select our entrees. The experience was very rushed and we started to feel uncomfortable. After our drinks and meals arrived. He began to sweep the carpet in front of our table as we were eating. Then he brought the check and told us we needed to sign it right then as his ride was out front. This was a very disappointing experience. The food was wonderful but I think I’ll recommend never visiting this location to my conference speakers or attendees.

Service

By Phong H |

This place is very nice. Plenty of choices from steaks to seafoods. Foods are good and the service is probably very good. We really liked it.

Lovely seafood lunch !

By rojaan1 |

We had a late lunch here recently. I had the stone crab claws, and then the scallops with parmesan mash and my husband had the mussels and then redfish with crawfish sauce on crab fried rice. It was a lovely meal, served by the friendly Hilary. A bottle of New Zealand white wine, but no room for desserts !! A great place for our last meal in Texas !

Beautiful Room, Exquisite Food, Great Service

By Robert Franklin |

I have enjoyed Truluck’s for the past 15 years in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Naples and now, Houston. This is a world class, premiere seafood and steak extravaganza. We took an early dinner, 4:30 PM, the day after Thanksgiving. Located on a busy Boulevard in the shopping district of Westheimer, this freestanding modern white structure has valet parking and free surface area parking. The room is festive with plants and trees adorned with Christmas lighting and decorations, a visual delight. Enjoyed the following: - bread service is a round loaf of baked brioche with Parmesan sprinkled on top. - Sonoma salad with cranberries, pecans and blue cheese is superb. - Stone crab claw entrée (three large claws) with an exquisite mustard sauce, - Spicy blueberry margarita is complex in its citrus blend. - key lime pie has a thick graham cracker and almond crust with a lush whipped cream. It is wonderful and served in two sizes. - in lieu of cappuccino I had a coffee with Baileys. - all of the servers were terrific and friendly. Other seafood restaurants I tried in this city may pretend to be upscale but are above average, at best.. Truluck’s brings the class and great flavor without being ostentatious.

Good memories

By Dutchlondoner |

Organised a surprise retirement dinner here for a valued colleague. The staff, beginning with those from helping to plan the dinner and those hosting and serving on the night were friendly and very accommodating. The food, drinks and wine were good too.

Fantastic seafood, in comfortable elegant environment.

By Myra E |

Wonderful seafood and if you are a crab lover this is the place to dine in Houston. It is a beautiful restaurant and good for conversation. It is not too loud, the service is fantastic. Great wine list.

Very Good Food

By Alejandro Z |

I came here to have lunch and had the house tossed salad which was actually quite good. I would recommend this place

Dinner

By Scielbi |

we had a good dinner here last evening. The place was pretty much empty which is bad for them. The raw oysters were good & fresh but not very tasty. Our choices were PEI & Massachusetts so we had 6 of each. The red fish my friends had was very good according to them & the tuna main course I has was also good. Service was fair. I might return here again when I come back to Houston however it is pricey.

Great for Special Occasions

By Mark B |

My wife made a dinner reservation on OpenTable for the Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend. It was not too crowded, but it being our first visit on a Sunday night, we were not sure if it was typical for a Sunday, or if it just that weekend. For our tax bracket, Truluck’s is not a restaurant that we would frequent on a normal basis. The food was very good, but considering the price, it better be. I would say that the service from our waiter was very good, with one exception, when the waiter forgot to bring my wife ice for her water glass.

Phenomenal Experience!

By Kathy B |

From the greeting at the door to exiting at the end of the dinner, this was an amazing experience. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The server was professional, friendly and very accommodating. I had the seabass with cauliflower rice florentine and it was superb. The menu has a wide variety of options. I would go to this restaurant over and over again.

Great seafood

By zdaati |

Nice place and great service by rose. Had the crab claws to start and then the lobster. Not cheap but tasty and the lobster was huge surprised me with size. Nice wine along.

Crab claws are the best

By anasthepsychic |

Crab claws are the best, always consistent .. I love their soups Great sides to choose from, Save Room for dessert

Excellent meal - surf and turf

By TheDude1974 |

Located in the Galleria area off Westheimer, this is one of the top Houston restaurants. A very large space, lots of tables that can still provide some privacy. A classy restaurant, don’t show up in shorts or a t-shirt. I had a golf shirt on and felt somewhat under dressed. Lots of comments about service in other posts, I found the service to be professional, friendly, helpful and on point. The food is amazingly good, their specialty is stone crab. I did not realize that the stone crab is actually an appetizer, it is so good, absolutely delicious. Served cold, with all the shells cracked, it’s so tasty, with large, generous pieces of crab. Filet steak was on for the entree, perfectly prepared and presented. The steak was a great cut and they certainly deserve their reputation for steaks. Dessert was layered ice cream, flambeed with a lemon crust, very cool when they flambé it in front of you. Drinks are plentiful and varied, they have a fantastic wine selection. Overall a very enjoyable evening, certainly not inexpensive, but one of the best restaurants in Houston.

A joyeful sea food experience

By ManelHarrathi |

I have never enjoyed such a sea food experience It's just wow . The food is amazing and so the desert. I highly recommend it for a Houtanian experience while on travel or vacation

Disappointing and expensive for what it is

By Emmanuelle6519 |

I had the catch of the day for dinner which was a broiled flounder. I wished the server warned me that the fish serves well 2 person with moderate appetite. Otherwise, as I was alone, I would have chosen something else. The intent of the recipe was good: the fish was broiled with fresh tarragon and slices of lemon. However, the texture of the fish was disappointing - it was like chewing on a cotton ball, typical of frozen fish. The wine list is quite extensive but the wines offered by the glass are not that high end as the price is.

Lovely five star dinner

By TAMAN1951 |

Great service. A restaurant with a great server is off to a great start. Stone crabs were a hit. Perfect appetizer. Prime beef meatballs were delicious. Nice crisp salad. Perfectly seared scallops. Lobster was awesome. They did a special desert for a birthday. Great meal. Not cheap but so worth it.

Great late dinner

By lmc2003 |

We ate here near Christmas time after attending a play in the area. It has parking or you can use their valet. The menu had much to choose from and I started with a Sonoma Greens Salad. It was tasty and the greens were not overwhelmed with the pecans, cheese and dressing. I finally settled on the Miso Glazed Sea Bass as my main. It was amazing. The flavor combination was perfect. My husband chose the Chef's filet. They cooked it exactly as he asked and he was very pleased. The service was top notch with out being overwhelming.

So far they keep us coming back ..

By Crystal C |

For the first time in multiple visits I can’t say our service was the best. However , the food was so good that it won’t deter us from going back . The 11oz S.A. Lobster Tail was out of this world and as always the stone claws were terrific.

Classy Place - Happy Hour Too 👍

By WinchyTraveller |

Really loved Truluck’s - very classy and my cocktail and my husband’s whiskey were lovely. We didn’t eat because we planned badly on this occasion - but the food looked delicious. Only observation - seemed to be full of single men at the bar!! Staff/waiters couldn’t have been better.

Great dining establishment

By srwjohn |

After tossing coins to see where we should eat in Houston, Truluck’s won the toss and we are lucky to have experienced this dining establishment. The service and food were phenomenal.

Even Better Than Expected

By Elias M. |

Any restaurant can have a "lapse," or an "off night." It's a rare restaurant that can not only recover but exceed your expectations. Rather than even mention the lapse, I have to say that Houston's Truluck's staff excelled at recovery and service. Manager Oliver Castellanos took personal responsibility for our anniversary dinner. He provided us with the perfect table, with the perfect waitperson, and then checked on us through our dinner to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Rose, our waitress was the epitome of a restaurant professional. She made great suggestions for wine and appetizers as well as gave us great descriptives to answer our questions. The crab was the draw and we were not disappointed. Further, my Missus said the lobster bisque was silky-smooth and decadent. She also enjoyed the spicy-sweet Halibut. My bone-in ribeye was cooked to perfection and while I ordered the wine and mushroom reduction, it was entirely unnecessary. The coffee is excellent and is a wonderful accompaniment to the baked Alaska. I cannot recommend Truluck's enough.

Great music

By MJNHouston |

The music in the bar area never is disappoints. Whichever piano man is playing, they always plays songs everyone likes.

Birthday

By Jason H |

Went on 1/25/20 for birthday celebration and was very pleased with the service (including valet), food and ambiance.

Great Food and Service

By eddie s |

I took my clients here for dinner. Food (Stone Crabs for appetizer) was excellent. Service and menu choices were very good. Salads, Steaks, Seafood you name it they have it. Will return again.

Perfection

By PDHouston |

It’s the time of year for get togethers with family and friends so it’s time for Trulucks. The place, food, wine and service were all spectacular. Not often do I find everything perfect but Trulucks pulled it off. Really really pleasant evening to kick the Christmas festivities off in style. Try it you will like it

A pleasant surprise

By leo88copper |

It is located close to the Galleria, in a small plaza. I have no problem to get a parking space. The restaurant also has a valet parking service. Crab cake is the best with huge lumps at all. Fresh and tasty. I order salmon sonoma salad (entree) and cream corn as a side dish. All are perfect. A very pleasant, relaxing place good for business or family.

Had a great time !

By Jaciel p |

Went to celebrate my friends birthday and they didn’t disappoint. We had a great time. The food was great! Service was amazing. They have live music. Definitely going back specially since my server told me they have happy hour every day 2-6.

Outstanding Seafood!!

By FAM1955 |

This place is very good for seafood.... and has been like that for years. We went on a wednesday night. Place was full but were able to locate a table (to be sure make reservation); ordered oysters and stone crabs... outstanding... deserts are huge: one could be enough for two or even three people.... Service was very good too.... One of the few places that still have live music....

Great Seafood Restaurant

By Carolina S |

I just celebrated my anniversary and my husband made the reservation; we had our nice table decorated with rose petals; the attention is always excellent and the food even better; we also got as complement a desert

A great experience

By Traveler mom |

If you are looking for a great dining experience, this place is a must to visit. Food is super delicious, and the service was more than great and perfect. Our waiter was so professional and friendly. We went for a couple romantic dinner, and we are glad that we chose this place. To be noted that if you order a whole fish is not going to be 100% bones free, which I didn’t mind. Very nice place for couple or business.

Unespected failure

By Sandro B |

We expected top class restaurant but we have ben high disappointed. Amazing the tryed to serve us unknown Red Wine with crasso and, after out company, the game us lo quality White Wine even without swing the botte. service of sous ha ben terribile. for a 130 dollari per person it ha ben most a disastri,I Will neve come again

Amazing

By Kamilah R |

This is not the everyday type of restaurant. We went on a girls trip. It is pricey but the food is amazing. My friend paid $110 for a lobster. I ordered the miso sea bass. My only criticism is for $52 it could have been a little more food but it was good nonetheless.

Thank you Trulucks for Guest Pleasing Experiences

By L774TRbarbarad |

Truly exceptional experience at Truluck's. The culinary offerings are outstanding. Truluck's generously hosts the Houston Concierge Association annually. This made Truluck's an easy recommendation for Hilton Hotel guests looking for a phenomenal dining destination. Thank you Truluck's for the special service and wonderful dining experience for HCA and Hilton Hotels.

Top restaurant in Houston

By Rockdoc7 |

One f the best restaurants in Houston for seafood or steak. We had the lobsterscargot for appetizer which was awesome and the the South Africa lobster tail stuffed with crab meat..beyond spectacular along with crab mac and cheese I was full to the gills

Supper with husband

By Vicki E |

Absolutely wonderful food and service!! I had the Sonoma salad which I highly recommend, stuffed-lobster with asparagus, and the trio sampler for desert ... all was fantastic!! The raspberry infused mimosas are a must. We would come back here again.

My favorite lemon drop!!!

By LaWanda |

I have been coming to Truluck’s chain for years. In Austin and Houston. The food and service always great. Houston location is where I frequent and has the BEST lemon drops in the city. Love the piano player and atmosphere. Now this place isn’t the cheapest but well worth it.

Fresh

By Richard |

If your looking for the best of both worlds, this is the restaurant to visit in Houston. Great service and the steaks and fresh seafood are over the top. I had the reddish pontchartrain and it was as good or better than eating it at a fine New Orleans restaurant. The steak was as tasty as any fine steakhouse in the area as well.will definitely visit again the next time in Houston.

Go here for crab!

By Marina R |

The crab claws are flown in fresh and very good! The ambiance is nice and good service. Nice place for a special meal and if you like happy hours, also good

Saturday Afternoon Lunch

By morrismasters |

What a very nice restaurant. I have been to Truluck’s before many times but I have never enjoyed it more than our Saturday lunch. Great Waiter and Server! Very nice and gracious. We are getting older and we quit ordering separate entrees. That doesn’t make the waiters or restaurants happy but it is just that time of our life where we want something we’ll-prepared but not a lot of food. Trulucks took our orders in stride and accommodated is well. We were very appreciative of their service again! We got a Stone Crab claw each. Wonderful with the great sauce they serve. Then shared a chopped salad with a crisp, fresh shrimp with Horseradish Dalad Dressing. Wonderful. Great fresh, hot , soft bread! Then we shared the salad and shared a meatball appetizer. Outstanding! Then a nice, flavorful dessert that was a small size. Just perfection! Thank you Truluck’s!!!

Great stone crab

By mfnoble |

I had dinner with a business colleague. The restaurant is located on Westheimer close to the Galeria. They have a valet parking service and there is plenty of space if you want to park yourself. The room is warm and comfortable with leather booths and white table cloths. The service was a bit brisk and impersonal but efficient. The place was not busy but there were long waits in between courses with no contact from the server. The stone crab legs were fabulous-- as good as Joe's in Miami. I had a filet which was cooked perfectly. The wine list is extensive. This is an expensive place and that is why I did not rate it a five. At this price level I expect everything to be over the top, service included.

Pretty Disappointed

By KLExpat27 |

My husband and I️ came here to celebrate our anniversary, and left wishing we had gone elsewhere. We were greeted very nicely as we arrived and they put rose petals on the table which was a sweet touch. Every manager who walked by thanked us for celebrating with them. After that, everything kind of went downhill. I️ ordered the famous stone crab claws for an appetizer, which were delicious, but they crushed the shell so much that I️ found it hard to take a bite without getting a piece of shell with it. My husband ordered the oysters Rockefeller, and he was not impressed, also noting that he had bits of shell in every bite. The highlight of the meal was the bread and lobster bisque, delicious! But if I️ wanted a good bowl of soup, I️ don’t want to also pay a few hundred dollars for an otherwise mediocre meal. We both ordered steaks, my husband’s was over cooked and had to be sent back. The manager came to apologize and took it off of our bill, which we greatly appreciated. They brought out another steak, cooked correctly, but we still thought that both of ours didn’t have much flavor. They brought out a complementary dessert for our anniversary, which was beautiful and delicious, but by then we were kind of just ready to leave. Side note- the ladies room also needed attention, I️ expected more out of a nice restaurant. We won’t be dining here again.

Excellent Service!

By Jennifer W |

I sat at the bar. The service was outstanding! I had the oysters Rockefeller...it was just ok. The tuna tartare, on the other hand was phenomenal!

Fabulous

By StretchCampbell |

I knew this was going to be a special restaurant the moment I walked in the front door. I never made it to the bar but whoever was entertaining was exceptional. We had a delightful server who was fun and very effective. The menu is $$$ but has a wide variety. I would highly recommend the scallops. It's plentiful! Others ordered the tartar Tower and crab cakes and salads. We skipped dessert but we did enjoy great cocktails. I would highly recommend this restaurant and make your reservations.

Great seafood near the Galleria, Houston

By Chris |

A wide variety of fresh seafood dishes. Waitress Lorena was very attentive and polite, offered good suggestions and knew the dishes, a great plus. Tried their fresh crab claw served on a bed of crushed ice, their lobster bisque and Hawaiian ahi tuna. All perfectly cooked and served by the chef. A great place in Houston, well worth a visit.

some good and some not good, but great waiter Armando

By paulandeddy |

There were 7 of us celebrating our grandson's high school graduation. The various salads where good, the oysters were good but at $60 a dozen they were not outstanding but presentation was. Most of the entrees were good, but the seabass had no flavor. The tuna and crab cake was very good. The steak and lobster was great for the lobster but the steak was over cooked. The $600 botte of champange was not chill eventho we called 2 days ahead of time. Had to wait on it to chill. The stone crab claws were good but for $99 they should have been outstanding.

Dinner for Two

By Loubserpg |

Opulent restaurant with excellent service. I had a bourbon fig liqueur cocktail followed by lobster bisque and then a Hawaiian shrimp dish. The latter has a slight spicy finish to it - complex flavor - pineapple and garlic. Crab rice on the side.

Excellent Seafood

By ecestafe |

This restaurant is located a couple of blocks from the Galleria and offers a great variety of well prepared and fresh seafood dishes. While expensive, their signature dish - Stone Crab Claws - are delicious and fresh. Service is very good and I was very surprised by it. There is a full restaurant option and a bar section with live music which allows for the enjoyment of its great food in a less formal setting. Valet parking is available.

Top Notch Business Lunch!

By Nicole W2015 |

Truluck's, you outdid yourself! What an intimate atmosphere for an important business lunch. The Wednesday special of spicy crusted trout was delicious and our guest said the filet was perfect. The service was on point, not overbearing in the least. We'll be back.

What a place.

By Kurt W |

Great locations. Attentive hostess, waiters and the food is the best, ohh, almost forget about the happy hour that applies for food and drinks. A must.

Fabulous food, service was erratic

By Robert G |

The only reason this is not a 5 star is the service was at times almost non existent. When we were seated it took 15 minutes before before somebody who appeared to be a manager came by and told us he would immediately have some water brought over to us. Once a waitress came over, we would see her about once ever 20 minutes - mainly - order, deliver a course, leave. Now the food - fabulous. Crab, shrimp napolean was tasty and huge. It was the size of a meal. Lobster bisque was tasty with chunks of lobster - very nice. Chateaubriand was at least 7 slices. Super tasty, well prepared, and perfectly prepared with bernaise sauce and a horseradish sauce. Asparagas was very nice. The chocalate cake was a very large piece. Super delicious. The crab cake was delicious lots of crab, and very little filler. Wedge salad - fresh lettuce, perfect dressing. Scallops were super tasty. Carrot cake was super delicous. This is a wonderful place for delicious food, it's not cheap but it's well prepared food in a nice setting. The only negative was the service. There is parking out front, and it appears even valet parking is available. When we were leaving there was a police officer on duty to protect the cars and the cars and those dining.

For seafood it's a joke

By AUSAGUY007 |

Too many rules.. See photos lol So.... how many giant crab claws can you eat... 10 or 20 there Gian steak runs around 150.00 that's about 2 dollars an. Ounce..... Is it the best seafood in the world??? Probably not

Focuss on their Crabs

By NICOLAS R |

Very nice place and ambiance. Excelent service. I did not try their meet. Their Crab Selection is good. King Crab was very ok. However, Soups were not. Clam Chowder was not. Bisque was very tasty, but prepared with hanlf and halg. It is very ok if there is a chef variation on a recipy, but should be said in the menu. Scargots ahd same issue. The last one lost their taste due to the cream. I did not like the price-quality ratio

Pricey but very, very good

By STL63141 |

I was there as part of a team dinner while on business travel. It's not the most expensive restaurant I've ever been to, but enrees are $30-40. I had the Lobster Bisque (which was excellent) and I tried the crab mac and cheese (also good). But the main course was awesome - Redfish Ponchartrain. The wait staff is top notch, and the environment is lovely. They brought a dessert tray to the table that looked amazing, but nobody had room.

Mixed experience

By Gary H |

Service was up to the standards set by other Truluck's locations, but one of us had a seafood dish that was not particularly fresh. Wine prices, as in many Houston locations, are inflated.

Amazing !

By KA L |

We had a private room and the service for our large party was top notch! The food exceeded our expectations and the service was beyond perfection. Well done!

Very good steak

By TTCS80 |

The steak was very good. The staff was very nice. The shared sides were good. The location was easy to get to. The ambiance was nice for the holidays.

Terrible service

By 1223Liinda |

Not one or twice but 3 times the waiter tried to take my plate away while I was still eating. I even called the manager later that evening and was basically just brushed off. We spent over $160 for 2 people and I really don't think we were just taking up table space!

Deliciouso!

By emiegran |

My first time at Truluck's. The service was great, the wait staff was very attentive. I ordered the Redfish Ponchartrain. I'm from Louisiana so, I was curious. My oh my, this dish did not disappoint. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a great pairing. I also ordered a Sazerac. A New Orleans original. Although the glass it was served in was not the usual old fashioned glass, the taste had me thinking of Royal St.(New Orleans) and I was on Westheimer. Thanks for a great meal. You guys will definitely be on my to go to list the next time I'm in town.

Exceptional dinner and service

By Simon B |

This was the last dinner of a month long trip. We wanted something special and we achieved it in spades!! We had the best dinner of our entire month away - amazing!! Waiter Tuan deserves special mention - lovely fellow and very good at what he does. First time I’ve ever seen mouthwash in the washroom - really nice touch. Don’t hesitate!!

Houston institution

By Tom P |

I have been going to Trulucks longer than I care to admit. The happy hours are great and the food is legendary. For years all I had was the seafood. I recently ordered the Ribeye. Now I have a new favorite! thank you Trulucks for years of great food and service!

Good

By Daniela C |

Trulock's is one of my favorite seafood restaurants. My husband and I visit the Woodlands location, so this was my first time at this location. My granddaughter loves seafood and what better place, I thought, than Trulock's. As usually, the food and atmosphere was great, but the service was disappointing. When you visit the Woodlands location, they treat you like you matter. This was a very impersonal, dry and poor service. I will not come back to this location.

Amazing Restaurant

By Michael M |

First time at Truluck’s and was blown away. My wife and I travel pretty frequently and this place ranks up there with some of the best restaurants we’ve eaten at in North America. The crab cakes were phenomenal. The crab Mac and Cheese was fabulous and the steak was cooked perfectly. The flawless baked Alaska for desert was the icing on the cake. I will definitely come back next time I find myself in Houston.

What a fabulous way to start our time in the US

By kennethg578 |

We did our research for a crab and seafood restaurant from Australia. We thought that this would be an appropriate way to start our holiday in the USA. The research was worth it. What a fabulous evening. Very courteous, helpful and friendly staff. The meal was really delicious and we could thoroughly recommend the Lump Crab Cakes, the Lobster Bisque, the Sweet and Spiced Halibut and the Blackened spicy Red Fish. The wine list was very good. Nothing at all detracting. Give them a try

Wife's Birthday

By mike3298 |

What can you say but fantastic. Great Food Great Staff, Waiter was very personable and a fantastic help. Manager was the greatest also.

Excellent; As Good for Seafood as for Red Meat

By davemh333 |

While this is part of a small chain, their standards are always kept high. We've never had a disappointing experience here and can count on Truluck's for fresh, well-prepared seafood at prices that aren't cheap but aren't break the bank either.

Great place for a birthday

By TOSHBLAZE |

Food was great. Our waiter was Rose who did a good job of suggesting wine and selling us on some great options. We never had stone crab she suggested a couple great options and it is hard to say no with the presentation they have with the displays. I wasn't drinking but she brought me a sample of a delicious German wine that I wound up ordering. The only disappointment is we did opt to substitute our sides at $25 bucks a side for the crab mac n cheese and the lobster mashed potatoes. which were both disappointing. (could have bought more booze!) But to be fair we like our food with a Cajun flare and they were pretty bland for our taste. In addition to the stone crab we stared with two crab cakes which were great! The complimentary Baked Alaska Flambe was a great touch and much appreciated. Again our waitress Rose was great and friendly. Will be back for all you can eat stone crab on Mondays! As far as value for the money I don't even know anymore every where we go similar to this costs about the same. Either they're overpriced or my salary isn't keeping up with inflation! =^D PS add some salt, pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper to your sides! =)

A must go to

By yconklin |

Service, food, ambiance all 5 star. The experience was exceptional and this is our go to favorite restaurant. Great for families and special occasions. Must have the carrot cake!!!

Amazing Service and Food Quality

By modboxmom |

Was treated to Truluck's for my birthday this year. It was amazing. The service is top notch. Wait staff as a profession, not as a college part-time job. So many wonderful selections to chose from that you cannot go wrong. I have the cracked king crab legs. Came and made a little fuss over me for my birthday with confetti glitter on the table. Definitely felt very special. Highly recommend.

One of my fave’s!

By Moira W |

One of the best places for stone crab claws... so good! And the king crab is amazing... There is a large selection of gorgeous fish... and they cook a mean steak if seafood is not to your taste. The lobster mash is to die for and the desserts are yummy... and large!!

Sorry excuse for a restuarant

By Deon K |

The food and the price are completely out of kilter. I took a date there. I just came off a multi week tour of Europe dining real well. I had the fillet steak. Not cheap, so one would expect a decent meal? The only vegetable served with the steak is half of a complete garlic. DISGUSTING! THIS IS GOOD FOR BIRTH CONTROL as nothing can come close to you for weeks. 1) I also ordered the potatoes Lyonese - yet again with so much garlic that I did not eat it. 2) Also ordered the creamed spinach. Old, dried up and guess: full of garlic. What is wrong with the cook? Surely this is no chef! I think his resume indicates that he was a cook in the military detention center where nobody could complain. Recommendation: go to McDonalds, Ruth's Chris, Steak 48. Anywhere but here. By the way: I did discuss it with the manager, but still paid full price for the complete order. fine by me, but I know why I avoided the place for 10 years.

Great special occasion restaurant for seafood

By Don B |

This was our first time at Trulucks. The large dining area is divided with booths and other barriers that make it feel Covid-friendly. We had plenty of space between us and the next table. Not knowing the portion sizes, we over ordered...but were glad the next day when we enjoyed the left overs. We ordered scallops and sea bass as our main dishes and both were excellent. The Caesar salad was also excellent with fresh white anchovies on top. The crab and shrimp appetizer was good with very fresh crab and shrimp but could have used less mayonnaise which seemed to hide the delicious seafood a little. Our meal ended with a baked Alaska and coffee. Overall, a very fine dining experience. We will be back.

Make sure you don't miss this place when in Houston

By Ian-Mc-SOR |

Probably the best in Houston. Awesome crab-claws, superb seafood and steaks appear great too. Staff are entertaining and good fun in real non-starchy way. Not to be missed when you’re in Houston.

Delicious

By Pathy2018 |

Good service, nice place, delicious food, in love with the dessert, good place to have a business dinner

Excellent

By upscale-travel |

We go to Truluck's often in Houston (and Dallas) and it never disappoints. Steaks and fish (my very favorite being the whole roasted Branzino) are all so beautifully prepared and of course.. the desserts - yum! The "pretty in pink" drink is also pretty tasty! Location is great and easy in/ out with valet. Great spot.

Yummy!

By Lucy M |

The food was absolutely delicious! Best I've had and we just came from Galveston! The service was top notch and the crab cakes were to die for. I can't wait to come back!

Wow look at all the pictures

By AUSAGUY007 |

Pictures say nothing about flavor they always look very good in the pictures but when you actually eat it totally different what I say this is a high-end restaurant like it was years ago no the quality of their food has gone down you might as well go eat somewhere that has a salad bar and free bread what I booked this place for a date or for business not really

Great Experience - Delicious Food

Celebrated my birthday at Truluck’s a couple of nights ago. The food and the service was awesome! The meal was one of the best I have had out in Houston in a while. I highly recommend it. The cracked stone crab was delicious. Had them for an appetizer. Everyone at the table ate something different, and each person raved about their food. The miso sea bass was WOW! The service was great. Our waiter was the nicest and very attentive. Definitely eat at Truluck’s if you are in Houston, You won’t be sorry!

Excellent service

The place is very to eat crabs claws. Very good oysters from Gulf. The service was excellent. The atmosphire very quite

Exceptional Service/Food Fair

By knem8994 |

The service is excellent, very attentive. The food was absolutely fair. Not exceptional simply fair outside of the ribeye which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The vegan meatballs ok, the crab fried rice was awfu, the positive it was full of crabmeat. The salmon was basic and fair I have had better. Totally not worth spending 100-115.00. I have had better for less and exceptional for more. This meal fell flat. Very dissapointed.

Great Meal & Service!

Sat at the bar. Bartender supper friendly and great service. Food & drink were both excellent. Great meal! next time in Houston I would definitely go again

Holiday Dinner

By adammhunt |

This was our first time here and it happened to be for a Christmas dinner. I was very pleased with the service as well as a majority of the food. My only complaint was the dry aged steak special that I had, it was not as good as I had hoped and my wife's steak was undercooked. The atmosphere is great.

Outstanding first time experience

By Christian B |

My wife ordered the Oyster Rockefeller and I ordered the Ceviche as an appetizer. Both dishes were excellent, best ever. My wife decided to order the Ceviche as a main course because of my comments and a small sample. I order the Redfish Pontchartrain which exceeded my expectations. The dish was a little spicy (just perfect for me) and very tasty. The server was very friendly, knowledgable and very attentive. The live music was very good albeit a little bit on the loud side as it affected the communication. We will definitely be back.

$Yum$

By Robby W |

We had dinner here and spent quite a bit, but we also had some drinks, apps/oysters, salads to go with our main entrees. I loved the filet. The oysters were excellent. Caesar salad was delicious. And nice wine menu. The place was really busy, which is a good sign. Lots of really great smells, dishes, and a lively atmosphere mixed with fine dining made for a great Saturday night.

Amazing service

By Daphne P |

I treated my daughter to an amazing meal here when we were visiting Houston. Restaurants like this probably don’t love it when children show up but we were treated so well! The food was fantastic (caviar, filet and crab), perfectly made martinis (for mom) but the clincher was receiving a personalized thank you note from our server Hillary, mailed to my house in Iowa. Who does this? A+++ service. Can’t wait to go back!

With the exception of the tight parking, this is good on all levels

We were impressed with the food, service, presentation, decorations and ambiance of the property. It really was running on all cylinders to produce an excellent meal and experience. Even the bathrooms were great! We absolute will be back!

Perfection for large group

By Blmhouston |

We had a group of 12 for an 8:00 reservation. The table was nicely set and included a large candelabra with 5 lit candles. The service was excellent - we had at least 4 different servers come by and all were completely coordinated. They bring a fruit tray for your water glass, are open to modifications to the menu, and are extremely attentive. The Sea Bass in Miso glaze was perfection - I had it with asparagus which was the best I’ve ever had.

Blahhhh 🤮

By AUSAGUY007 |

I guess you could say you know what I'm going to say only one word blah yeah if you want the all-you-can-eat crab claws come here but as far as the quality of the food in the salads I would not come here plenty of seafood places around town to visit but I guess if you're stuck in the Galleria you might as well go where the hotel tells you to I guess most of the reviews on here right it is excellent so they'll get more viewers but I'm being honest I probably get better food from Central Market

Maybe we expected too much.

By Katie K |

Truluck's is good, don't get me wrong, I think we were just expecting more. I guess living in a city full of excellent, five-star restaurants really spoils you. Make a reservation if you are dining here on the weekend. It's location makes it super busy with people staying in the Galleria area in addition to just the rest of Houston. There are plenty of private rooms from what we saw, and a large bar area, so it's definitely equipped to handle big parties. The menu is what you would expect if you have ever been to Truluck's before - full of fresh seafood options, but also a robust menu of steak options and unique sides as well. Our favorite appetizers were the crab cakes and the shellfish tower. Both tasted fresh and each presentation was nice, but neither dish overwhelmed us with flavor or excitement. The calamari was not as good as we expected, probably because it was drowning in the mustard/chili sauce. Out of the choices for your second course, stick to the classics like the wedge salad or the lobster bisque (which was good, but served a bit too luke-warm for my taste). Entree choices are plentiful, and the sides can be a bit overwhelming if you order with your eyes and not your stomach. The ahi tuna or the miso-glazed seabass are both excellent, but if you want a unique seafood entree try the whole fresh fish of the day. The crab claws are fresh and delicious, but can be a bit cumbersome to eat if you are trying to impress the other diners at your table. Luckily, you can ask your server for help - or better yet, when you order, just ask that the kitchen prepare everything so that it is VERY easily opened (you may have to swallow your pride a bit for this one). As far as steaks go, the surf and turf is always a good choice (ask about the special that night), but if you just want the flavor of seafood on top of your steak and not an actual side of it, go with the signature chef's bearnaise topping full of blue cheese and crab. There are plenty of sides to choose from, and the portion sizes are more than enough for four (hungry) adults to share. Skip the mashed potatoes and the sauteed spinach (both lacked much flavor besides the obvious butter/oil and salt), and try instead the hasselback potatoes, roasted mushrooms, or the asparagus. The crab fried rice was good, albeit a bit too greasy for our taste, and the lobster mashed potatoes were just mashed potatoes with random seafood flavor. The dessert menu has a surprising element of seasonality in it, but is also adorned with plenty of traditional options like a rich chocolate cake and luxurious creme brulee. We ordered dessert and were surprised with how long it took (nearly 20 minutes), so if you do decide to order something sweet, be sure to save some time and some room in your stomach before the end of the meal. Overall our experience at this location was good (a few hits, a few misses), but what differentiated our dining experience here from those at similar restaurants nearby was the service. At this Truluck's, the service was just not up to par with the food or the atmosphere. Our server was nice, but not very attentive. He remembered some of the things we asked for, but then just completely fell flat when following through with other requests, i.e., he remembered to bring extra horseradish with our seafood tower, but completely forgot to bring over the sommelier and then the bottle of wine we ordered mid-meal. And I know that those things seem knit-picky and not extremely offensive, but when you are paying a pretty penny for both the food AND the service at a nice restaurant at Truluck's, one without the other just doesn't work. Overall, we would likely go back to this restaurant if invited by others or were looking for a group dining destination, but it's not on our short list of great places to dine in Houston.

Oddly, steak house decor, with fantastic seafood and service

By Pepper |

Great attention and knowledge from our server- all the fish was perfect. I had the sea bass which was wonderful- also a Caesar salad that was first rate. My friends had great fish too ( can't remember what it was) and everything was delicious. Nice to have a meal sometimes where everything is done at the highest level of presentation and beautifully sauced and cooked. I was also impressed by the quality of wine offered b y the glass- I had the Archery Summit- which I was shocked was offered by the glass. Kudos on that.

Great crab!

By lovestravel365 |

Every dish we had was perfect and our server, Armando, was wonderful. The crab legs were especially remarkeable, already cracked and easy to remove large pieces of meat. The tuna poke was perfect and fresh, the Alaskan Cod special and the desserts were great. Everyone left happy. Only improvement would be if the creme brûlée were warm instead of served cold. Prices are quite steep...it's more of a special event restaurant. We will be back.

Fantastic Meal Today

By Bryan W |

I took my wife, daughter and son in law here for dinner this week since the wife had never been. I built it up pretty good and no one was disappointed to say the least. We all ordered the filet steaks and they were absolutely perfect and I mean perfect. Served very hot and cooled to absolute perfection. The creamed spinich is the best we ever had. We split the dessert trio where each was able to have a few bites of carrot cake, chocolate cake and my favorite, creme burlee. This is one of the best restaurants in Houston.

Love the Stone Crabs

By Andrew L |

Having previously been to a Truluck's in Florida, we were very much looking forward to visiting the restaurant in Houston and they did not disappoint. The main attraction was the Stone Crab Claw platter but the Stuffed Lobster Tail and the Crab Fried Rice were also excellent. The Baked Alaska then provided a nice finish to the meal. Great overall decor and atmosphere and our server Tuan was also very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

Disappointed my my meal

By Nude Review |

The Filet Oscar Royale has a nice touch with the caviar but the asparagus was I’m shredded and didn’t taste good, not much crab and the bearnaiae wasn’t good.

Nice Dinner with quality food and fine ambiente

By GlucaFst |

Once entering looks a bit as a bistrot, nice ocation, pretty upscale and the suprise was the quality of the food, very good standard all what we have ordered, about the Crab was presented us was looking a bit giant but appreciated the kindness of the waiter. The bill in line with expectation and was finally a nice dinner. Very american the huge colluttorium bottle in the bathroom, very original ... never seen in any other place in the world.

Excellent service and quality in seafood.!!

By Viajero-99W |

We arrived and found excellent service like last time. For wine we chose a very good and powerful Nickel & Nickel cow. Some very good and fresh Stone Crab legs and an excellent lobster bisque. A very fresh and tasty Chilean sea bass, a Catalan cream somewhat loaded with flour.

Inconsistent quality, but a nice place to dine

By Gabriel H |

We stopped at this very nice restaurant for lunch. It advertises as a favored destination for fresh fish and seafood. There is ample parking and valet parking available. The dining area is large, spacious and comfortable. Tables are far enough of each other for privacy (and social distancing). There are regular tables and comfortable booths. Service was prompt and friendly, although somewhat inexperienced. There is a very good wine list, with many available by the glass. We started with fried calamary. They were excellent, fresh, tasty, and the accompanying sauces enhanced the calamari's flavor. The Yellowtail crudo was exquisite, delicate, super fresh and very nicely presented. It was arguably the best part of our meal! Our main dishes arrived while we were still in the middle of our appetizers. That was awkward and a better restaurant would never allow that to happen. We had to send it back to the kitchen until we finished our appetizers. The broiled Chilean Seabass was very good, although the Broccolini side was practically raw and hard to chew. The Trout Amandine was awful: overcooked, mushy at the bottom, not worth touching, much less eating. It was taken off of our check, but it left a bad impression with us. We shared a key Lime pie for dessert: it was awful. The crust was rock hard, and couldn't be broken with a hammer! The custard was good, although not excellent. Overall, the dessert, while very large, didn't do justice to the idea of a key lime pie. If I go to a steak restaurant and my steak is not perfect, that is unacceptable; if a fish place can't make fish perfectly, it shouldn't be in business.

This is how it is done!

We walked here from the JW Marriott - who recommended that we try them for dinner. It is apparent that reservations are necessary, as we were there on a Tuesday night at 7:30 and it was full. Every staff member we met was extremely polite, engaging, and efficient. Our server, Brian, was very helpful w the menu and information re the various entrees. We had the lump crab meat appetizer, scallops, and swordfish entrees and cheesecake for dessert. The food was marvelous and arrived at the table perfectly prepared. Flavors are on point and presentation is excellent. I could not give it a higher recommendation - the entire experience was perfect. They even called me the next day to thank me for joining them. Wow!

Very nice restaurant

By TAMAN1951 |

Ambience is awesome and staff was welcoming. Disappointed in that stone crab season was cut short by Florida but manager did his best to accommodate us. No chicken on the menu. Sea bass was delicious and wife opted for a perfectly executed lobster. Service missed on a couple occasions but overall was OK. On the pricey side but it is an upmarket restaurant.

Great food

I'm in love!

By Tiffany Machelle |

Huge dining area with plenty of seating, most of which (if not all) are booths. My husband and I have been going late night around 10pm, so there hasn't been a crowd or parking issue that I can comment on. The stuffed lobster tail and crab cakes are delicious. The crab is so meaty, some places with crabcakes will usually taste like stuffing but Truluck's has some of the best crab I've had in Houston. Their drink menu is a bit awkward if you're looking for pretty drinks or regular cocktails. I tried some kind of smoking ice drink which was alright for looks and social media, but the 2nd visit I ordered a margarita. If I go a 3rd time, which I plan to, I may order off the menu and ask for a Long Island or simple cosmo. Prices are decent. I haven't had the chance to sit in the lounge as of yet, but the live entertainment is there until closing. You can hear the music throughout the restaurant, so you don't have to be in the lounge to experience the entertainment. I don't know why some restaurants have carpet and then a nice, shiny, waxed floor out of nowhere. I stepped from the carpeted dining room to the nice floor headed to the restroom and the floor said 'nice to meet you' because I hit the floor feet up in the air with a dress on LOL! My shoulder ached for about a week and I felt so embarrased. Only 1 person saw me thank goodness and I think he worked there. Sad part is this occurred BEFORE I ordered a cocktail. It was well needed by the end of the night haha :) Ladies, watch your step or be prepared to tell your story next. Overall, cool restaurant with a laid-back vibe and great for late nights. I will be back over and over again. Awesome staff that I've met so far.

Lovely dinner.

OK we came for the stone crab and they were delicious and plentiful. The steak is as good as any Houston steakhouse. Perfect quality and execution. The catch of the day was a lovely snapper. Lovely Brussel sprouts. Service was top drawer.

My husband’s Birthday dinner at Truluck’s

By pamelad1970 |

This was my first time visiting Truluck's. Actually it wasn't even on my list of places I wanted to visit. Yesterday was my husband's birthday and I was looking for somewhere to take him for a nice dinner. He wanted seafood so I started googling nice places. I was looking on Opentable app and Truluck's came up and had a reservation open for the time we wanted to dine. I made the reservation. We valet parked. We in the restaurant and were promptly seated in a booth. The hosted sprinkled our white linen tablecloth with silver festive confetti in honor of my husband's birthday. The restaurant ambiance and decor was very nice. They had large tables with candelabras which were lit with real candles. It was a very nice atmosphere. Our server was named Tuan. I knew I would like him from his first hello. He was a very nice, friendly and accommodating gentleman. He asked if it was our first time visiting Truluck's and since it was, he made sure he answered all of our questions about the menu and made excellent suggestions for us. I started off with a Tiki Margarita and my husband ordered a Pop Star (cognac). Both were amazing! For appetizers we ordered the meatballs and the Florida Stone crab claws. We ordered the 5 meatballs and they were huge. They brought out this warm, soft buttered bread. I was stuffed before my entree arrived! For the main course I ordered the redfish ponchatrain and my husband ordered a large steak. We shared the sides crab Mac and cheese and crab fried rice. Everything was very good. I couldn't eat much. I asked for my fish and sides to be picked in a to-go box. The icing on the cake for this evening was Tuan bringing out this baked Alaska dessert, setting a blue flame to it and then slicing it for us. Amazing to watch! What a birthday celebration. We both ate as much of the dessert as we could. It was definitely delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant but please bring your full wallet because it is very pricey but considering the ambiance, the service and the quality of food, it was definitely worth every penny! On the way out we noticed a live singer singing in the bar we thought it was a cd playing but it was this guy singing live. We left the restaurant very satisfied. While waiting for our car I noticed this Koi pond full of big beautiful gold fish. Valet promptly pulled our car around and we had memories of a wonderful evening. Thank you Truluck's!

Great ambience - average food

By West River Girl |

This restaurant facility is a great place to meet friends for dinner. We enjoyed the live music and the staff was excellent. However, the food was just average and we were disappointed in the quality of the dishes. When I looked on-line the website indicated they had a gluten-free menu, but when I asked for the menu I was told they didn’t have one. That said, the staff was very knowledgeable and they were able to help me find gluten-free options. For an appetizer we had the raw oysters, and they were just ok. The lobster bisque was very thick and cheesy, not the best. For dinner I had the salmon bearnaise and my husband had the redfish pontchartrain. Neither dish had a lot of flavor and we were disappointed. Houston has many excellent seafood restaurants so we will not return here.

My NEW favorite restaurant in Houston

By Shannon O |

I know food well for trying food Worldwide is a hobby of mine. This place has AMAZING food!! They created us a sampler tower of fresh seafood to start with, even though it wasn’t on the menu and wanted a taste of many samplers. The ribeye was cooked to perfection exactly how I had requested, mediate center and crispy fat and outer layer, PERFECT. The staff was accommodating and we had all of our needs met. I’ll for sure go back on a Thursday to enjoy the live music and hip bar area. Thank you for such a beautiful dinner!!

Beautiful ambiance, fresh seafood

By BarbaraLHW |

Great atmosphere and playlist; unique backlit menus; excellent, personalized service; high-quality, fresh seafood. Our lobster tail (biggest we've ever eaten), crab claws, and scallops were cooked to the perfect textures. Our Texan tastebuds did not perceive any flavor, though. There were sauces on the side, but we still wanted more flavor in the seafood. If we return to enjoy the ambiance, we will focus on appetizers, salads, and sides. It is a lovely, special occasion restaurant.

Delicious crab!!!

By Susan |

We had an amazing New Year’s Eve dinner at Truluck’s! The service impeccable, the atmosphere devine and the food sublime! The ambiance was romantic and elegant. Fun music played in the background just loud enough to enjoy and not be too loud. Crab and more crab! Super delicious! Can’t say enough how much we enjoyed it. The dessert was ‘the icing on the cake’! Try their carrot cake. Amazing!

What happeded

Years ago before they moved across the they were pretty but now it's really gone doesn't taste fresh and there's a lot better seafood places in people come here for their crab although their pictures look the food kind of sucks

Large group has a great evening

By Tomas H |

We had a group of eight enjoy a fantastic evening of seafood and steak. The Ambiance is very nice with some interesting big trophy fish up on the walls and dark wood and leather seats. Definitely has an old-school feeling to it. The live entertainment what's really good and not distracting. We started the evening with large trays of seafood on ice served with a lot of drama as the crab is sitting in some dry ice. The trays are served on lazy Susans that spin around so everyone can get a taste I particularly liked the oysters which were insanely fresh. I asked for the Gorgonzola sauce on my rib eye steak and did not regret it at all. The garlic and Parmesan mashed potatoes were delicious. The table ordered the sampler dessert with chocolate cake, carrot cake, and a creme brulee. I enjoyed the creme brulee very much. Does sugar glaze on top was nice and crunchy and the custard was just right. We enjoyed a nice white wine from Spain called Albarino and I had the house red with my steak. Very tasty. Perfect service, perfect evening. Very pricey

Christina gave us the very best, attentive, friendly service and the entire staff were extremely professional. I was very impressed with the staff’s precautions they executed perfectly, creating the very best safety while not compromising the beautiful ambience of this lovely restaurant. Pleasant ambiance. Lots of seafood choices. I had the lobster bisque and the shrimp cocktail. Very tasty. But very pricey. Service was pretty good.

Birthday

By PattersonPursuits |

We visited for my father in laws 75th birthday. Ordered cocktails and the large seafood sampler appetizer to start. We hen had salads, soups, and steaks. Steak excellent, salads just average. Brought out a happy birthday dessert that fed 6- it was amazing: Baked Alaska. Waiter Will did an excellent job. Super kind with my kids.

A Classic in Houston

By PETERMEX |

Good time in Houston very close to the Gallery. Eat well with refined atmosphere. It is worth knowing this good dining option. Their specialty is seafood, but in Texas they always have good meat.

Outstanding

By psetna |

The food here was amazing. We went on Easter for dinner, to celebrate a special birthday. They truly made her feel special and the food and service were amazing. Only disappointment was they were out of the branzino…. But that just speaks to how good it must surely be. It must have sold out at the Easter brunch. Will def come back for it!

Exceptional in every way

By Downsouth |

Our experience was stellar from start to finish! We opted for the lobscargot, asparagus and Brussels sprouts and couldn’t have been more pleased. Every bite was a feast for the palate. Baked Alaska was a treat for the eyes and the taste buds, and the surroundings are perfect for a special date or for a friendly celebration. Our waiter Raoul was attentive and efficient. We would return for sure!

For that special occasion

By WayfarerOneEleven |

Beautiful restaurant with good spacing for pandemic concerns. Our calamari appetizer was light and flavorful and the suggested wine went well with our meal. Crab cakes, steaks, and especially the scallops were delicious. Whatever the recipe is for the golden beet mixture--I want it! Potatoes Lyonnaise were the perfect accompaniment. We ordered the carrot cake for dessert and we know why it is what they are known for! Fabulous! A surprise second dessert came for our anniversary: Baked Alaska in the shape of a beehive was flambeed before our eyes. Beautiful, delicious and appreciated. A gentleman stopped by our table a couple of times to make sure all was well, which was nice. Not to be forgotten is the live music from the bar area. A wonderful dining experience!

Elegant Experience

By waelfareed |

Truluck’s is one of the high end places around the Galleria. The place is elegant. The service is five stars, very attentive, very welcoming and they know all the information about plates they are serving. The mailer d is welcoming and always there checking on all guests to ensure their satisfaction. The place is open until 10 pm, this is nice for those like to have dinner late. The place is suitable for dates, business meetings. This is way it kind of dressy, or at least smart casual. You have to try it at least once.

Consistently excellent

By DonLoverich |

I owe this place a review as I eat here often on business and pleasure. It has consistently great service and consistently great food. I always start with a large crab claw...expensive but wonderful. I personally recommend the redfish ponchartrain or the seafood salad. But you are very hard pressed to find anything not great on the menu. If dining alone, the bar has a great atmosphere with a really good piano singer. Bar talk is lively and I never end up feeling alone. I think you will enjoy it.

Great food great service.

By TAMAN1951 |

Love the poblano soup. Rich and creamy and fresh shrimp as well. Stone crabs all you can eat are great and reasonably priced. I went for the prime rib eye. Cooked to perfection. Sides are generously proportioned and well executed. No room for desert but they look great. Top drawer service. Good prices.

Best seafood

By Elias Z |

Although expensive, this place has the best seafood in town. It is an upscale place, similar to fancy steakhouses but focused on seafood. The stone crab is excellent! Avoid the king crab is too expensive and not really worth it.

Go for the Stone Crab...Stay for the Dessert!

By FoodFriendsandTravel |

Stone Crab Season is Here! October 15 through May 15. The best I’ve found in Houston is at Trulucks. All you can eat is still available on Mondays...no sharing allowed. But seriously, Thats a lot of claws! My consistent order is 3 Claws (med or large depending on the timeline) with an ice cold iceberg wedge (shared) and a bottle of chilled vino. Perfectly Delicious. Oh yes and save room for the dessert trio. It’s all pricey but worth it. INSIDERS TIP: Get the Stone Crab Platter and share. You get 2 sides plus mixed sizes of claws. Perfect size to share.

Best dinner date, Truly Amazing

One of the few places that truly get what a guest wants. From the Beginning to the end, outstanding. Valet was so nice and professional Management greets you at the door and check in Server was exceptional, knowledgeable, kind, personable, and was there every time they were needed. The food was outstanding Started with the wedge, a few stone crabs, there special Parmesan yeast rolls, we split the whole Branzino, creamed spinach and ended with baked Alaska. Alex was the best and most personable wait person. The signature old fashion’s were outstanding. Can’t wait to go back. Just a great dining experience. Hats off to ownership and management.

Awesome food, great experience

By TheDude1974 |

Truluck’s is a Houston classic steak and seafood restaurant, probably best known for their stone crab. They did not disappoint at our last visit. Started out with jumbo stone crab for an appy, and the tuna tartare, both outstanding! Moved on to the steak and sides. Mac and cheese is always a standout for a side, as well as the creamed spinach. Seared broccoli was excellent as well for a vegetable. Steak was a filet, just excellent. A full selection of every kind of wine you could want, as well as mixed drinks. Dessert took us over the top, the baked Alaskan is a specialty, the carrot cake and chocolate cake servings were huge. Our waiter was professional, completely knowledgeable of the menu, friendly and fun to banter with. Tables and ambience are classic steakhouse style, lots of booths that provide a measure of privacy. It’s business casual, so no tank tops or shorts, you will be completely out of place. It’s certainly not inexpensive, great to go for business or for a special occasion. Overall a place not to miss, looking forward to coming back.

Simply amazing.

Business lunch. Had the business lunch combo with lobster bisque and the Ultimate Steakhouse Filet. Cooked excellently. Bisque had a spice to it and was a little different but wonderful. Service was on-point but not intrusive and we never felt rushed -- but never wanted for anything. 5* all the way around and would eat here all the time if I could.

Oh so good!

By Raiderfe |

We had lunch here after passing by it a few times. The reviews are spot on. Everything was yummy. The crabs were sweet, meaty and tasty. Two people in our party had the lunch specials. One had trout and the other had steak medallions. The lunch specials are well worth the price. The crab fried was the best I have tasted. If I’m ever in the area again I will be sure to stop here again.

Fabulous Seafood

By Vic777_12 |

My wife and I had the jumbo stone crabs for an appetizer and they were amazingly succulent, perfectly cracked for easy access. The service was very nice and the cocktails were a cut above; My wife said, "The bartender obviously knows what s/he is doing." Balanced wine list as well. I could see us returning over and over again.

Fantastic food and service.

By Rob K |

Fantastic food and service. On Monday’s for $89 they bring you stone crab until you say stop. With a salad and side it’s a great deal if you are craving stone crab. It’s not on the menu or advertised you have to ask for it. Extensive wine list and upscale setting.

GREAT FOR STONE CRABS

By SHG |

First let me say that where TripAdvisor asks "What sort of visit was this?" I answered family. However I have had the pleasure of entertaining business associates and friends many times over the years. The wait staff are well trained and attentive. The stone crabs and sides are wonderful (I come from Florida and claim to be a connoisseur of Stone Crabs). If you are not delighted with the freshness or size of your stone crabs let the manager know. Don't be shy, this location truly has a goal to make your meal perfect in every way.. My experience has been that the shift manager will go out of his/her way to make you happy. The lights are dim and warm. They have a piano player that is nice but loud. If you need a quiet table request one that is away from the piano. I normally come with a group of 6 to 10 people for which they have provided a semi-private area. The must is that you give them as much of an advanced reservation as possible. I must say that I have only been to this location during Stone Crab season since they have their own boats that ship from Florida by overnight air daily. They are the only upscale restaurant that I have found in Houston that can make this claim for fresh Stones. They are pricey but worth the expense. I hope that your experience is as satisfying as my family, friends and business associates have been for years.

Don't Wait for A Special Occasion to Try

By James K |

Every detail was perfect. From exchanging white napkins for dark ones so as no to leave lint on our clothes, fruit to flavor our water, a cheerful exit greeting by name - they were on it. The food was excellent; filet, sea bass, calamari, Sonoma salad and dessert sampler. Each was spectacular. Our wait person was personable and loved her job. Jessica was superb.

Great food!

The stone crab was delicious! Comparing this place to Joe's Stone Crab in Miami Beach, I would say they are fairly even. Joe's Stone Crab is one of my favorite restaurants in the world, but both have good stone crab. The waiter's at Joe's are more entertaining, but I would definitely go back to Truluck's in a heartbeat.

Great evening

We order the sea bass and don’t regret, delicious. The ceviche as appetizer was vey good as well. We was lucky in get the last table available, reservation is the way to go. Service was very nice and the ambiance is little dark to my taste an increase in illumination will give more life.

Stone Crab for the win!

By Wetravel4u614 |

One thing that had me most excited about visiting Houston was the fact that stone crab was in season. I had only had it once which was years ago in Vegas and also seemed to miss out each time afterwards. Truluck's was close to our hotel and once I saw that stone crab was available, it was settled for lunch! Very nice restaurant. Even romantic in some regards so I wish we had done dinner. I was worried about the dress code as I did not want to appear too casual, but the dress was flexible as I would imagine it was lunch time. Decent menu with options where I did not feel like I would be too stuffed for lunch. I went with a wedge salad and the crab. Be warned, if it is stone crab season, expect to spend a nice piece of change. I did not mind as I was in the mood to treat myself. The drinks were pretty tasty as well. No complaints what so ever. Nothing particularly stood out, but I have nothing negative to report either. If you stay anywhere near Westheimer in Houston (in the Galleria area) that is a perfect location for restaurants and bars. Happy travels!

Save too for the dessserts!!

I am starting at the desserts because they were so big for many to share. Homemade and just plain delicious. Wide variety of food even for the pickiest of eaters. The waite staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful. Must place to dine!!

AMAZING King Crab!

By Wayne P |

Oh my gosh! They welcomed us and worked perfectly as a team. The culture of a restaurant adds flavor to the food. It doesn't matter how good the food is, if the wait staff don't get along with each other or if they're fighting with the kitchen, I won't come back. Here, they worked as a team. Our waiter, Enrique, was personable and made wonderful recommendations. We were taken care of! The escargot was crazy good. Of course, drowning it in butter just made the need for the fresh bread all the more evident. The spring mix salad was fresh and when presented, it looked like it hadn't been dressed. In fact, it was *perfectly* dressed. Our waiter made recommendations for our dinner and we ended up getting a GREAT bottle of wine and sharing a pound and a half of king crab legs. Cooked perfectly and cracked in the kitchen, you will still end up using your hands (getting a little messy) to get all the goodness out. These are sweet and tender. Our waiter noted that the stone crabs were no longer available from Florida and, while the west coast stone crabs are very good, based on what we had expressed as our desire for a good meal, he steered us toward the King Crab legs. We're so glad he did! We had steamed spinach and garlic along with asparagus for sides. Unfortunately, we were so full, we couldn't do desserts. But WOW, did their dessert presentation tray look amazing! I make it a habit not to visit chain restaurants when traveling. Truluck's has other locations, but this is hardly a chain. And, they keep it so personal, well... we'll be back when we're back in town! Really great food!!! Really great service! (and really convenient to the local hotels)

I'll take Stone Crab any time.

Excellent crab - stone and dungeness. An array of sides to share that were good. Obnoxiously noisy, of course. Nice bar. Impossible to park so give up and use the valet.

Excellent Seafood

We have been to more than a few happy hours at this restaurant. Always a good time with great food and a very good wine list. An old favorite that’s worth a visit.

My wife and I loved this restaurant.

By Michael M |

My wife and I loved this restaurant. We celebrated our anniversary here on December 6 2019. The restaurant is beautiful. Our server, Hilary, was outstanding. She was engaging and knowledgeable everything on the menu. The service was excellent. The food was wonderful. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. Everyone we dealt with was gracious. We will certainly return. They made it a special night for us.

Horrible Birthday

By Paloma P |

Yesterday, unfortunately, I decided to celebrate my 54 th birthday at Truluck. We were six very polite and smart ladies, our experience has been absolutely disastrous. I am Spanish. The rest of my friends are also Spanish, Mexican and Colombian, so the language we were speaking was Spanish. The restaurant was empty and they put a table right next to us with 90% men. I imagine that someone must have complained about our tone of voice or that we spoke in Spanish and the manager came to call our attention. His treatment towards us was really rude and unpleasant because the ones he should have moved were the other group of gentlemen to a more private place, not us, who had arrived at 1:00 in the afternoon, we are respectable ladies and it was my birthday. Furthermore, I would like to point out, with great displeasure, that the treatment we received was absolutely discriminatory because we spoke in Spanish and because our tone of voice was high. If we were bothering other male diners who would have moved them, because the Restaurant was empty. Now I know why. Furthermore, I am absolutely convinced that if any Varon had accompanied us at the table that manager, he would not have dared to address us in those terms. I consider that the treatment has been absolutely discriminatory for reasons of gender and for being Hispanic. I agreed to change tables, because we were accompanied by the mother of one of us, who is a very respectable older lady and she did not want to organize any arguments. Of course I asked for the complaints book and they told me that it does not exist, I want to remind you that in Europe this is illegal, so one of the employees gave us a card with the name of the owner, minutes later the manager had to reprimand or threaten her, because she came back very serious, told us that it wouldn't work any longer and invited us to leave the premises. We ordered stone crab (which by the way was Frozen) , several main dishes (one of them had a hair in the broccoli) and two bottles of champagne. Of course, the affected person with the hair, did not think to say anything about that so as not to bother me on my birthday. The treatment has been absolutely unacceptable and absolutely humiliating with a lack of education, tact and subtlety, when it comes to handling a specific situation easy to resolve if done with education. The final conclusion is that this manager's treatment ruined my birthday and the excitement of inviting my friends and I want to point out that the quality of the food also leaves a lot to be desired, starting with the pain of the restaurant itself, which seems not ventilated. I hope this doesn't happen again to anybody and I hope the owner takes appropriate measures. This situation is absolutely unacceptable in a luxury restaurant , with those prices, in the city of Houston, and with respectable ladies. I want to express my most absolute displeasure and I want to recommend that you do not go to this restaurant to celebrate anything at all, especially if you are Hispanic and speak Spanish because we are discriminated against in our treatment. This violates the equal rights of all citizens, regardless of the color of their skin, gender, race, religion or language they speak. I am absolutely convinced that if my husband, who is the head of investment banking at a global bank, had been sitting with us, this incident would not have occurred, at least the manager would have treated us more politely. The truth is that I expect , at leats , a sincere apology from the restaurant . Paloma P.

Awesome seafood experience

By Santiago F |

It is the Seafood standard. Everything was fresh and delicious. The stone crab claws and shrimps are alluring but the Carrot cake was irresistible. It is perfect for friends or a date.

Simply lovely

Great Seafood in Houston

Near The Gallerias is where Truluck's is, a nice atmosphere will be awaiting for you. All the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of what the are selling to you. We had a very good early dinner with Alaskan King Crab legs and other dishes that where done almost to perfection.

Anniversary Dinner

By tshon71 |

Making reservations was a breeze. Upon arrival, we informed them that we had reservations and were excorted to our table. We were sat at a private and intimate booth (kind of in the shape of a half circle. The table setting was beautiful and the service was great. The CRAB CAKE was to die for & the wedge salad left us speechless it was so good. At the end of our dinner, they treated us to a flambeed dessert which had chocolate in the middle - is was beautiful and very good. The food was amazing and we will defiently go back.

Wonderful Lunch!!

By cooker72 |

We loved our Power Lunch yesterday in this pretty restaurant! The lunch consisted of a starter, an entree, and dessert! The Lobster Bisque was awesome....maybe the best I have tasted! The house salad was very large. Beef Medallions were very good....a bit over cooked for rare, but very tender! Fried Shrimp were amazing! We took dessert “to go”! Chocolate Cake and Carrot Cake we’re both wonderful! Our experience was delightful, partly due to our server Norma Jean! She was great!

Great Place for Birthday Celebration, etc

By Alvin Brown |

If you in the area and great place for dinner and lunch and what an amazing staff. For Appetizers try both Fresh Crab Claws & Prime Meatballs and the main course you can try Sweet and Spicy Dutch Yellowtail and Turf & Surf* 7 oz. filet, South African lobster tail. Cooked wonderful and to perfection and its a must try. Everything on the menu is great and feel free to choose what you like and enjoy.

Great Place to Celebrate Important Milestone

By David L |

My wife and I joined my oldest daughter to celebrate her being debt free. It was an elegant choice for a very special location. The service was impeccable as is usually the case at a restaurant of this stature. I had the surf and turf and it was cooked exactly as I wanted it. We share the asparagus and again very well done. Do notice that this is pretty standard vegetable for such places. The wine was a tad expensive for our normal taste, so we had a bottle of their least expensive red and it was excellent. The dessert was the crowning glory of the evening, a chocolate tower. Yum, Yum, Yum.

Great Seafood and Service

By SteveA |

We went there for celebrate birthday. To start with, service is superb. From the minute you get inside to the minute you leave, entire staff is very attentive and have exceptional Service. Cocktails were made quickly and very flavorful. For appetizers, crab cake is one the best you will have. Other appetizers were good. Lobster bisque was great as well. We all had different fish dishes. All were fresh and definitely worth going back for again. Swordfish still my favorite choice. Side dishes are big and meant to be shared. Overall, everyone had a great time and enjoyed the meal. It wasn’t not my first visit and will not be last. Prices are not cheap but in line with other fine dining restaurants. The quality of the food and service here is well worth it.

Ask for Ryan

By Sean R |

Truluck’s is often recommended and rated as $$$$ both are well deserved. Clearly when you pay more you do expect more and Trulucks does not disappoint. It is consistently does a excellent job in service, food preparation and attention to detail to make your dining experience the best it can be. For the gluten free people there is a separate GF menu and a kitchen staff knowledgeable and willing to accommodate. Only one draw back is no GF dessert choices except fruit and Creme Caramel. We were served by a young man named Ryan who set the bar for table service and we will be sure to go back and ask for him.

Excellent Service and Attention

By Chuck F |

It was great to be seated at my reservation time at a table in the area I requested. Our waiter was attentive, but not aggressive. We did take a while to order. The fish was prepared perfectly and the sides were excellent.

Excellent for any social occasion #trustme

By Philsgreat |

Our first time at Truluck's...and it was probably the best dining experience we have had in Houston. I even gave the valet a premium tip (a different top for you reader: may want to make reservations here and have some change in you for valet because parking is slim picking) We loved this place! The food was superb! Full of flavor, the right portions and brought out in a timely manner. Never expect an empty glass of whatever you're drinking because their attention to service is on point. We loved the ambiance and from the looks of of things this is a popular spot because we went on Monday night and it was packed! We were seated in the lounge area where there was live music that enhanced the good vibes even higher. That piano player, whoever he is, was terrific! The entertainment alone was worth the visit. We really enjoyed ourselves here and think you will too. If you haven't been, go and check it out for yourself.

Not Bad But Not As Good As remembered

By Global Fox |

Been a while so a new destination revisited. Was certainly popular and despite being very busy service was first rate. Downside was entrees came when we were still consuming appetizers. Ceviche very good, trout over cooked and dry. Ambience was great but overall the food was below what I remember which tempered the experience. Menu is varied and diverse which is very good. Valet parking first rate. Price was reasonable for the standard of restaurant.

This has to be the best seafood in town

By Benjamin C |

This has to be the best seafood place in town. From the moment you walk until the moment you leave you are treated phenomenally well. My partner and I went to celebrate an anniversary and we will definitely be returning. I highly recommend the South African lobster tails. They have an excellent consistency and are not rubbery like at some other restaurants. They are fresh and you can tell that they are received either daily or at a maximum every two days. I also had the Ahi tuna which was seared to perfection and very fresh as well. It had none of the “cold“ taste that some of the other seafood places have. My partner had the steak which he said was very good. However if you’re going to come here go for the seafood as it is outstanding. Their selection of oysters was very good. The service is outstanding. In these strange and unique times this establishment was definitely practicing social distancing and have implemented every reasonable sanitation standard possible. They had hand sanitizer restaurant the restaurant, and the tables and booths were well spread out. The bathrooms hand sanitizer and touch free door openers. Excellent establishment and very safe.

Nice restaurant for birthday!

By Chris C. |

Every dish exceeded our expectations; only complaints are scallops had a funky smell & valet parking workers weren’t helpful and ignored our call to help taking pictures. Every waiter inside restaurant was very polite and friendly. The marshmallow fire dessert was the star of the show, very nice environment. Overall, would come again and recommend.

Fantastic all the way around

They seated us immediately, the oysters and lobster was spectacular- everything came out in an orderly fashion and we savored everything
