Delicious Chinese Food!

By Jill R |

We were hiking nearby and decided to try Tsing Tao - it was a great find! The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, and we all decided we would definitely come back. We ordered about four dishes and shared them family-style among five people. That was plenty of food for us without leftovers.

Good Chinese Food in SF

By NancySF |

This restaurant is one of three I think. I have also been to the one in West Portal. I have only been for lunch, but the lunch portions are huge and so cheap. I have had a few things, sesame chicken, lemon chicken, peking beef, etc. and they have all tasted so great. Parking here is a bit difficult, but if you are way out in the avenues this is a good place to grab a quick lunch.

Best Chinese Restaurant Around

By Kat654 |

I've been going to this Chinese restaurant for better than 30 years. It is family owned and operated and while there are Chinese restaurants practically on every corner in San Francisco, this one has never disappointed. They do a huge take out business, but we usually dine inside. They have great lunch specials, the portions are good as is the service. If you like lemon chicken, it is the VERY BEST I have ever had anywhere. It is a must for me while visiting the City.

Good Food, Good Price, Fast Delivery

We live nearby and order from here often. Pickup is always ready 15 minutes after ordering and delivery is quicker than any other place I know of. The food is good, lots of options. Don't eat in often, not the best ambiance.

Great, Inexpensive Lunch

By NancySF |

Went to Tsing Tao again after not being there for a very long time to see if the food was still as good as it had been. We went for lunch around 1PM and it was rather empty, but that is what you would expect from a little neighborhood restaurant in the middle of the week. The service was nice and fast, and the food came out almost immediately. Lunch for the two of us was less than $16.00. The lunch specials are served with hot and sour soup, entrée which is rather large and served with steamed rice (which you can upgrade to brown rice, chowmein, etc.) and tea. To end the meal you are given orange slices and fortune cookies, well, one cookie each. The food is delicious and inexpensive, so give it a try. I will definitely go again.

It's my neighborhood "Go To."

I love this place for the food and service. I have only eaten in once, so it's about 99% take-away. Best items are the soups and the chicken dishes, but I can't really say that I have had a bad meal. I just wish the pot stickers were not as doughy and allowed to crisp in a pan before taking them home. I love also how they will bring my take out order next door to the bar so I can watch the Giants and have a beer while I wait! Excellent.

Basic SF Chinese food experience

This is our usual Chinese take-out place since we live in the neighborhood. Depending on what you order, you can get excellent food, or average. Stay away from the American-type food like Orange Chicken or anything deep-fried and battered. If you order vegetable and seafood or meat dishes, they do quite well, and the prices are good.

The best in the city, Forever.

We lived in the outer Richmond district in the City for 8 years and this was our go-to Chinese delivery place the whole time. We bought a house in Oakland in 2003 and I trek back for this food the way I trek back for my Dentist, and hairdresser. All my favorite restaurants from when I left are still open and there is a reason why.. This place has the BEST chinese food. I bring my friends from New York here. And THEY are like OMG. It's the only place that makes wontons with real meat in them instead of like a pebble of pork. Their veggies are always green and crispy-there is just NO bad food here. And the prices are still very reasonable. This restaurant always makes me happy and is ALWAYS worth the drive over. I am SO GLAD they are still at it!

Nice and unpretentious with great food

We were actually looking for a different restaurant in the area when we decided to try this one instead and we didn't regret it. Much better Chinese than anything we had the "pleasure" to taste in Chinatown. Recommended.

Just OK via delivery

By Scott M |

I was in SF and on a rainy night I ordered via Uber Eats. Springs rolls (fine) Prawn dish (very average) Fried rice (ok) Put simply the prawn dish was a real let down and the quality of prawns (well shrimp) weren't great. I saw good reviews on Trip Advisor and perhaps just a bad night and I always believe in giving a place at least two tries so fingers crossed for when I'm back in 3 weeks.....

Really Good Chinese Food!

By Domfas |

My dad told me to come here after trying it on a recent trip to San Fran. This place did not disappoint! It was really really goood greasy take out food. I loved the fried rice and noodles. I also loved the dragon beef. The only negative thing I have to say was that I really felt like I had eaten friend food after eating it (ie. tired, bloated etc). But it was so good that it was hard to stop eating!

Just as Good for Over 30 Years

By Kat654 |

I've literally been visiting this Chinese Restaurant for over 30 years. It's a must when in the City. The service is always great, the portions are good, the prices are fair, and they have a great selection. For sure one of my favs.

Friendly, warm service

Short walk from Legion of Honor. Great find. The owner seemed to know at least half of the people that came through the door. That is always a good sign. Many lunch specials at $7.95. Fast service, genuinely friendly. A great find.

Time warp from 1970, great value, straightforward

By pbridge1300 |

Time warp from 1970. Old fashioned interior, old-fashioned menu, old-fashioned prices. This is not haut cuisine, it's $12 lunch plates, and generous servings. Convenient to the Legion of Honor and relatively convenient to the Bridge and the beach. I go to the Legion regularly, and that will give me opportunities to return here.

Great neighborhood Chinese restaurant

By NanjingBob |

This is a delightful, unassuming, little Chinese restaurant in a neighborhood outside the bustle of Chinatown and downtown San Francisco. The prices are modest and the food is excellent, so that Tsing Tao compares favorably with the best of Chinatown. I particularly recommend the chili pepper prawns and , as well as their hot and sour soup. Most Chinese restaurants in the U.S. artificially thicken hot and sour soup, but Tsing Tao avoids that, which I believe provides a much more appealing and natural texture. Although not fancy, Tsing Tao one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Even though the dishes are somewhat Americanized, Tsing Tao has several dishes that remind me of those I ate while living in China.

Chinese food SF

We drove over an hour from Redwood City California on vacation because the reviews were very good for this place. It didn't disappoint! The food was fantastic, the staff were friendly, and the service was quick. The price was extremely reasonable for the amount of food we were given. The pictures I am sharing are After we finished eating! I would go back in a heart beat. Excellent restaurant!

Excellent value for lunch (near Legion of Honor)

By ccvvbb |

The weekday lunch special costs $6.50 and includes a small bowl of hot and sour soup, a large plate of rice and selected entree, plus a pot of Jasmine tea. We had the Kung Pao chicken - tasty and hot, and the pork with green string beans - very good. They serve large portions - you won't leave feeling hungry! We saw a group of construction workers eating here, and they looked very satisfied when leaving. We sure were!

Outstanding food at a bargain price

By chinadochill |

Three friends and I were walking on Clement and noted this relatively obscure small Chinese restaurant and decided to drop in for a small lunch. The place is classically Beijing with a dozen or so tables and almost nothing of decorative interest. The menu was, tosay the least, extenxive. There must’ve been 40 different one specials ranging in price from seven dollars to nine dollars. We ordered four different ones. The excellent hot and sour soup came immediately and the mandarin and Szechuan main dishes, always with rice, followed at the perfect pace. All tasted excellent. This place will be on my Favorite list for a long time to come.
