Is this for real?!

By Susan E |

What a disappointment! My $8 salad was so skimpy, I thought it was the 'side-salad" that came with the entree that I ordered. The $13 'enree' was pathetic. Over-cooked meat that looked like 4 tiny thin hockey pucks. A piece of bread that was SO THIN, you couldn't even call it bread/pita. The onion rings were over-cooked, hard and NO sauce, no nothing. Sad; I will never return.

An amazing, delicious Turkish food away from Turkey! The staff are amazing! Went above and beyond to make our experience 5* each time we go there. It is our Sunday afternoon stop in place now.

Pleasantly surprised

As a Chicago native some friends and I decided to go try Turkitch for lunch. Although a bit hesitant as to what to expect we were also pleasantly surprised from all aspects. The food was exceptionally tasty and a great variety. Mediterranean and Eastern cuisine with Turkish fine dining at its best. The personell was delightful and the store was spotless clean with an open kitchen. Not to mention how clean the bathroom was. Finally probably the best desert we had in a while. Thanks Turkitch. We will be regulars

Amazing food, fresh-made meals. They are currently following Covid-19 rules. Kitchen is visible from inside, looks clean and neat. Although prices are little bit high, we are planning to go again.

Turkitch makes you feel at home by offering real Turkish food

I have been a regular in Turkitch for 9 months. Turkitch’s Ayvalik Panini has always been my favourite, along with their extremely good desserts, always the same great quality food. The main reason behind that great quality is that they import a lot of stuff from Turkey including baklava, borek, and now even traditional Turkish bread varieties, this was something hard to imagine. Their walnut baklava, which is actually homemade, pistachio baklava (also served in carrot sliced shape as in Antep), they all have been great. Turkitch owners have valued the feedback of their customers; thus they improved a lot on menu and service. They kept adding a lot of popular items like steak-cheese wrap and chicken wrap menus. Most importantly, their renewed traditional breakfast plate that reminded me the ambience of a typical breakfast (serpme kahvalti) in Turkey. Moreover, inside Turkitch, you can even find a small Turkish grocery that you can buy Halal meat products such as sucuk, pastirma, manti, and, also, fresh cakes, baklava, cheese, and olives etc. Turkitch has served for a wide variety of people who have dietary restrictions like vegans, vegetarians, Halal/Kosher, gluten free etc... For example, my vegan Brazilian friends loved the kisir and salad in Turkitch, my Bulgarian vegetarian friend really enjoyed borek varieties. I also heard that they only use cane sugar in their dessert products as opposed to unhealthy high fructose corn syrup. Turkitch also offered a lot of famous Turkish street foods that you can hardly ever find elsewhere in some special weekends, like wet burger, kumpir, manti, even Kokorec! But they all disappear quickly! That’s very bad.

Flavorful, friendly, Authentic

My sisters and I ate an assortment from the menu here at Turkitch this morning and it was ALL amazingly delicious. My sister ordered Turkish-style scrambled eggs with bread, which was savory and delicious. I had Su Boregi Menu, a combination of healthy salad and phyllo-dough savory pastry. My other sister tried the waffle, a real treat for those who love fresh fruit and Nutella. A must-try is the Turkish coffee, just remember not to drink the grounds at the bottom of the cup. :) Lastly, we also had the pistachio baklava (definitely try this!) and Kisir(bulgar with a secret magical Turkish sauce and best with squeezed lemon on top). Try it all! We’re here in Chicago for a more days and hope to return again before the end of our journey.

Great coffee and conversation

I stopped by this neighborhood place based on the recommendation of a friend and because I’m traveling to Istanbul later this month and wanted to get a taste of the native flavors before I go. I’m so glad I did. D, who is on staff, was very friendly and polite upon my arrival. When I told her of my upcoming trip, she made me a list of restaurants to try in Istanbul and also recommended some baked goods to try in this eatery. I enjoyed a cup of Turkish coffee, slightly sweetened, and a bite of baklava out in the sun on the patio. Both exceeded my expectations on flavor. I appreciate the friendliness of the staff, the reasonable cost, the cleanliness and menu options, so I will be back for a full meal.

Excellent spot for travellers

I came across this place while craving Turkish Breakfast/Brucnh. It is very close to Lincoln park zoo and botanical garden. Food is great! Serving Turkish coffee with an authentic cup is a good plus.

My stepson introduced us to the sandwiches at lunch while we were in town before the holidays. Would definitely return on another visit.
