Good Food at a great price

By jtg8073 |

Took my employees out for Christmas Dinner. Staff was very polite and attentive to are needs. Parking can be difficult. You have to love BYOB. Place was about half full so it was not too noisy. We all had some sort of chicken platter that we all thought was great. They served Cream of Chicken Rice soup which was very good. The canoli was very fresh and creamy. I have been there about 8 times and have never had a bad meal.

The Olive Garden is Better

By Kathleen C |

This is not an authentic Italian Restaurant. The owners from what I undertstand are from Albania or some place like that. You can bring your own bottle, which is good, because this helped cover the taste of the food. Bread was brought out with both butter as well as the oil to dip it into. It's unusual to have butter with the bread, usually you have to ask for it. My husband and another person at our table ordered the veal parm. My husband is a food scientist and said the veal was a frozen patty and not fresh. The other person who ordered the veal parm said the linguini was over cooked. The other person at our table ordered something I never heard of before and she said it was not authentic Italian; she should know since she is Italian. I had the baked manicotti, it wasn't bad, it was ok. I would rave about this place and the 4 of us said we would not go back there. We would all rather eat at the Olive Garden instead.

Perfect dinner

I went there while I was on vacation and had a wonderful time there. The atmosphere was great. Our orders arrived fast and the food was excellent. I am looking forward to come back the next time I will be in Philadelphia

Neighborhood Gem

By JMH101 |

This little neighborhood Italian BYOB is big on great food, friendly service and reasonable prices. Our table of five had entrees ranging from Chicken Parm and Shrimp Scampi, Tortellini Alfredo & Chicken Marsala. We had the very good Caesar Salads & also very good House Salads with their delicious house dressing and delicious Italian bread that accompanied our meal. We finished our great meals with wonderful desserts of creamy Cheesecake and an a scrumptious Lemoncello Cake.

Great little BYOB

My husband and I had never even heard of the place but probably drove by it 100 hundred times. Great little restaurant. Food was great service was good and the price was reasonable. Our party was chatting so long we didn't realize we'd been there almost 3 hours! We will definitely go back.

Terrifif food and BYOB

By Mary Anne M |

Great neighborhood location in NE Philadelphia. They have been open at least a couple of years and have chosen not to get a liquor license. There used to be lots of thee places around and this is one of a few left in the Philadelphia area. This was the second year in a row we went there for dinner. The food is consistently good, reasonably priced and service is attentive.

Pleasantly Surprised

By Weddingwoman |

Recently had dinner here and was pleasantly surprised- the restaurant is very small but the food was delicious...the mussels and calamari were the best- the menu offered a lot to choose from and the prices were average. The waitresses were friendly but the noise level was excruciating because of the size and closeness of the tables..... skip dessert- unless you want a 'Sam's Club like' cake.

One of our favorite locals.

This is a great BYO. The food is consistently good. Muscles red for an appetizer is a tasty choice. Always a nice selection of specials. It does get a bit loud when crowded, but hey you can't have everything. My wife and swear we can usually eat hear for cheaper than if we cooked ourselves.

Friendly neighborhood Italian restaurant

By Kenneth G |

Tuscany Ristorante is a small, privately owned, BYOB Italian restaurant in NE Philadelphia. On a Saturday night the place was busy, but we were surprised to be seated immediately. The food is authentic Italian. Service was a little slow, but that is probably because each dish is prepared fresh. Seating is a little tight, but if you don't mind striking up a conversation with the party in the next table, it's fine. Prices are average for this type of restaurant. The waitresses were friendly. Some of them had accents, which made them a little difficult to understand in the noise of the restaurant, but we had no problem ordering. Having been to the big chain Italian restaurants, it was nice to eat at a friendly neighborhood restaurant like Tuscany.

Loved the food

My mother and I went on a Tues night and didn't make a reservation. We did get seated right away around 6:30 and it filled up fast. Food was very good, we both had veal dishes and service was good as well. The limoncello mascarpone cake was amazing! The only downside was that it is small and a bit loud. Weekends must be really crowded so definitely make a reservation. Parking lot is also very small and on a busy street, I would suggest parking on one of the side streets.

Birthday Dinner

I Took my Wife here for her Birthday 🎂 Dinner and the food was awesome. And our server Kristina was very pleasant. She even put a lit Birthday 🎂 candle 🕯 in our lemoncino cake and sang Happy Birthday we thought that was cool.

Looks are deceiving

From the outside, Tuscany doesn't look like much; it's sandwiched in between a bar and another eaterie. But once you're inside, it is a clean and attractive restaurant, albeit smallish. Everything else about it is excellent. The menu is wide-ranging and we had tried various dishes and each one was delicious, Their sauces are right on the money, and their service is timely. Good prices. They give you nice portions, too. The music was just right. We were very impressed. It has limited parking and you may need to park on a side street. We go to this restaurant on off hours as it can get quite packed and a bit noisy.

Love Tuscany!

My husband and I are regulars - food is delicious. Great portions, affordable. Arta and Kia are wonderful. Sometimes a little noisy, but well worth the visit.

Great food, limited parking.

Great little find. Food was very good, BYOB, very friendly staff. The Mussels are to die for, as was the Tortolini. Parking is tight, so plan ahead.

Good Local Restaurant

By gdubsPhiladelphia_PA |

At the last minute on a Saturday night, my wife, son and I decided to stop here for dinner. It's located in a small storefront at Rhawn Street just below the Roosevelt Blvd. The place was packed with diners. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The menu offers a wide selection of Italian fare at really moderate prices ($13 to $20). The food is very fresh and tasty. I was quite surprised at this little jem in NE Philly. The only downside is the noise level. Since the place is small and gets crowded the noise level is high. Also, it's a BYOB which helps keep the cost of the meal down. Great place!

Excellent food!

No matter what we've had here...always got a great meal! Their food is very good. It's very reasonably priced. The service is excellent and it's BYOB. Perfect little gem of a restaurant tucked away in a shopping center. You won't be disappointed! Im Italian and quite picky and I think this place is awesome!

Valentine's Day Fail

By Ron S |

It has been a while since I ate there, but I had a HORRIBLE experience on Valentine's Day of 2014. When my fiancé and I arrived, they seated us down the basement. One of the first things I notice was the Bilco doors were blocked with some shelf made out of 2X4's with a plant on top of it. So in case of an emergency, we would have had to find another way out. Initially, the hostess sat us next to a door that had a strong draft coming from the seams. It was low thirties that day, so it was uncomfortable without having my jacket on. I usually don't eat at a restaurant with my jacket on, so I asked to be moved to a table directly in front of us. They complied. After sitting in the new seat for approximately 5 minutes, I realize when I moved my feet that I was swishing around in a puddle underneath the table. The rug was soaked. That explained the mildew smell that kind of smacked us in the face when we arrived. As a result, we move our seats again. By that time, I was pretty annoyed, but I understand things happen. We finally ordered our food. I ordered the Steak Pizzaiola and my fiancé ordered pasta with vodka sauce. This so called New York Strip steak tasted like it was frozen and defrosted a few times. It tasted rotten, really. I had about 3 bites and couldn't eat anymore. The waitress politely asked how everything was. I told her truthfully that "it is really bad and it tastes rotten." She insisted that I get something else. I insisted that I did not. A sense of urgency to get out of there came over me. I kind of expected the check to be discounted. When I looked at it, EVERYTHING was charged at full price. My fiancé just told me we, “we will never come back,” and she would pay so I didn't cause a scene. I wasn't really going to cause a scene, but I didn't even eat my meal because it was so bad. I didn't feel like I should have to pay for it. So my fiancé paid for it since she recommended the place. I wrote an email addressing the owner using the email address posted on their website and did not receive a response. I guess if they are too busy to make sure their steaks are good, they are too busy to reply to my email. I said to myself, “I’ll see if they reply,” but then forgot. Recently, something made me think about that night and it dawned on me that they did not reply. So, I am writing this review. I hope they read this and take it into consideration.

TOUGH TO RATE

By John V |

Very good food at a very good price but........ Too crowed, too small, noisy clientele. fair/poor atmosphere. Not a fancy menu, selection basic but good, desert selection poor.Often a long wait for a table because the "not upper end clientele" have brought in a case or two of beer and are camped out for the night. Back to basics.... good sized portions at a very fair price. BYOB makes it an inexpensive meal. Atmosphere (the people mostly) stops me from giving this place a much better rating. I suspect going early on a week night would be a better experience.

Italian Gem in the Northeast

By bosuka |

Reasonably priced, fresh delicious Italian food restaurant. Had the lasagna, a little different in that it comes out in a bowl sort of free form but fresh, cooked to perfection and not too much ground meat to overpower it, among the best I have ever had My wife had the penne in vodka sauce with bacon. Delicious, not over sauced, just enough bacon, and a generous portion, enough for two people. The Caesar salad that is a salad option that comes with the meal was perfect, just the right amount of tasty dressing on very fresh romaine! Even the bread was delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. Very clean and tidy dining room!

Delicious!!!

2015 Valentines Day, my husband and I made reservations and we're not disappointed. We were seated right away and there was a rose on each table, the ambiance was lovely, tuscany look but not over done. My appetizer was clams in a garlic sauce and it was delicious, the bread was so good and there was dipping oil but the clam garlic sauce was perfect for dipping! For a main dish we had Chicken Parmigiano and Chicken Marsala which were again delicious. Very attentive waitress. We will definitely go again, can't wait.
