Friendly relaxed Egyptian/ Middle Eastern food. Recommend the 5 salads and the lentil soup. Amazing complimentary semolina cake.

After crossing the bridge and on the way to Brooklyn Heights Promenade you cans find the cafe. Good for brunch and prices are very reasonable.

The seating area outside is covered by a loose carpet which hides the slope in the ground. One of the group I was with sat on a seat and it tipped backwards. He hit his head and it caused a gash. This will happen again and somebody may be more badly hurt next time. We did not get the drinks we ordered and the staff were unapologetic, obstructive and unhelpful.

One of the best meals I've had in my first four months in NYC. Very friendly service, broad menu for vegetarians and meat-lovers and (bonus for my very picky Muslim family), all the meat is halaal. Definitely bringing future visitors here.

We treated ourselves to a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (a must adventure for a tourist) and needed a bite to eat, so found this on Trip Advisor. The physical appearance is not much to look at but like many NY restaurants, you cannot let that get in the way of what may be a good meal. The seating was comfortable and the service was excellent. The food was good but the fresh bread was really fresh --- the pita served to us came out of the over a few seconds before. The two adults got the 5 salad plate (you choose from about 10 choices) and there was plenty of food.

I visit this eaterie whenever I visit New York. The food is always tasty (although) I mostly only have the soup and the falafel. It's not the most fancy place but the food is always tasty and it's very cheap.

Almost walked right past this very simple, "the food is the reason for being here" restaurant. Reminded me of the little holes in the wall we loved so much while traveling through Israel and the Middle East. Food is authentic, absolutely delicious and generous in portions. Loved the Chicken with Salad, which was perfectly spiced (not too spicy) and savory and came with hummus and salad. My son had the chicken pitta (pizza) which was much milder and as a result, he had some of mine:) Falafel, Feta, Olives all offered separately as "small salad appetizers" - try a few. They are inexpensive and delicious. Definitely coming back.

Great place for Lunch. Solid Falafel & the "lamb pit-za" thing is very good. Note: it is not licensed, but very reasonably priced - falafel is about $5 and the Pitza's are about $7-8.

we only had drinks and baklava, but the baklava was amazing! I often run into baklava being too sweet, but this one was perfect. highly recommend!

Great stop on a hot day for some beers, baklava and smoothies. Umbrellas outside, so pleasant shaded area to relax. Very friendly owner who talked with us for a while. And the prices were just right.

Honestly, one of the worst places, with the worst staff possible. If anyone is even slightly considering going there, THINK AGAIN!!! After we politely told the staff that there was water in our food, he told us ‘that if we complain and the owner found out, he would be fired.’ He then called the police on us for making a complain about his poor service. I hope the owner see’s this comment, and seriously considers who he employs next time. Not only this happened, the staff member who wouldn’t give his name, got extremely aggressive, and wasted precious police time.

As someone who ventures to the Mediterranean often, I can appreciate good Mediterranean food. And this restaurant definitely has the best Mediterranean food in Brooklyn. I actually found their water to be absolutely delicious.

My gym buddies and I lunch here about. once a week, because we live (and exercise) in the neighborhood. Its out of the way, on a non-commercial street, so its never crowded. Everything, even the pita bread, is made fresh and its all delicious. Its very casual, but the service is friendly and accommodating to special requests and substitutions.

I have lost count of how many times I have been to Tutt over the years. I can honestly say it is my go-to place for dinner when all I want is good chow cheap. Tutt serves well prepared, tasty, generous meals without any fanfare. There is something on the menu to please absolutely everyone from carnivores to vegans; soup to sweet; chilled to steaming. Service is efficient and involves no tiring chit-chat. Pita bread is made fresh for each order, arriving at the table in a domed steaming puff. Love the "pitzas," chicken plate and rolled up sandwiches that require a two handed hold. Since my last review, Tutt has stopped allowing BYOB. It is now a completely alcohol free restaurant. Some outdoor seating at 2 long tables provide the opportunity for al fresco dining.

The worst customer service experience . I'm very upset that as a customer who was ordering not for the first time was treated poorly and more than that. I made an order on Uber Eats for this restaurant and pre-paid everything at the time when order was placed , however when delivery boy arrived I opened my package and realize that all order was wrong and the food that was inside was probably belonging to somebody else . I was calling the restaurant and requested to talk with somebody and explained that was a wrong order or my order was replaced, gentleman didn't speak any English and arguing in different language over the phone and past my phone to another gentlemen I explained that I paid for my food and wrong items was delivered he asked rudely "What is your location?" I said my location and my name he said " Aha NO we can not deliver your food you are far away for us !" I was in shock what he just told me but it wasn't far away to charge my card and deliver wrong items. I told him I 'm sorry you treating your customer this way but I paid for the food and never got my items he said : "Sorry I'm busy I have go, I have to go customer waiting for me" and hang up . I'm in shock, I wouldn't recommend . DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE ! Awful service they will rob you in anything they can.

A very local eatery with great food. Home made pita shows authenticity and these came nice and fluffy! The falafel was fresh and moist inside. The chicken plate was yummy too. Perfect portions. There's indoor and outdoor seating, a clean toilet and an ATM as its CASH only!

We love this place! The food is great - everything is good! Welcoming of the kids - had the milkshakes, smoothies, hummus, shish kebobs and pitza. Delicious every time. Family owned place with fast, friendly service. Can't be beat!

Ordered chicken plate-- chicken "nibs" were grisly and greasy (see post). Hummus bland. Salad dressing boring. We are regular eaters of Mediterranean food and Tutt's was the worse. I could put up with the boring decor, gritty bathroom with no paper towel, and poor service if the food was any good. There were four of us--two meals arrived and the other two came 10 minutes later! Just awful lunch. Don't go!

We placed an order via Grubhub from Tutt Cafe and picked up at assigned time. The order process was not smooth because it got canceled and duplicated when we were picking up our order. The staff was friendly but not familiar with the issues caused by Grubhub which was frustrating. It was fixed in the end by Grubhub but was time-consuming. We had their Green Pitza, Leg of Lamb Plate and Baklava. The food was decent especially the leg of lamb. The lamb was cooked properly with no gamey taste even my husband who hates lamb finished his plate. We were disappointed with their baklava which was not the best in our experience and the filling was way too little.

Me and my partner have been here on two different trips to New York, over the space of about 4 years. Each time has been memorable. Great Location, Great service, Very friendly. The Pitza is highly reccomended. An Egyptian pizza on a pitta bread base. Toppings galore, and cooked to perfection. We will one hundered percent, be going back on our next visit. We even got dessert for free, and it was beautiful. We couldn't rate this place enough. Go People!

If you are visiting NYC, consider walking over the Brooklyn Bridge, swinging over to the promenade, admiring the view and then . . . go to Tutt Cafe. This place serves honest, delicious and surprisingly healthy fare. The pitas are all stretched by hand. They make their own hot sauce. The waiters have lively smiling faces and the prices . . . I am almost embarrased each time I get the bill. They are BYOB and there is a terrific wine shop called Montague Liquors on Montague Street. Michael knows everthing and he can hook you up with a great bottle. So, between the BYOB and the very thrifty fare, a family of four can eat for $40. There is a little outdoor area, if the weather is nice. The indoor area is modestly decorated, but clean.

This hidden little gem is worth the walk if you're in the Brooklyn Bridge area. The lamb plate and Mixed salad plate are the bomb!!! Order the xtra pita bread and prepare for some great eating.

Excellent break after visiting Brooklyn Bridge. Restaurant ideally placed, and everything was delicious and freshly prepared. Great welcome in addition!

Really taste and fresh food. The service is great and people are really nice. I would definitely go back.

great falafel and lamb sandwiches

If you want good quality freshly cooked yet low priced Middle-Eastern food, this is the place for you. My girlfriend thought the falafel here was the best she'd ever tasted, whilst I had some delicious chicken in pitta bread. We only stumbled on this by chance whilst wandering through Brooklyn, but I can't recommend it highly enough.

Small and cozy. Food was very inexpensive. Located mins from the A/C and 2/3 Lines. Service was good- above average for small operation such as this one. .... scenic view of lower Manhattan skyline and the bridge just a short walk away

A nice area to take a walk in. Delicious food. No frills.

Great small neighborhood restaurant in Brooklyn heights. They deliver and the service is prompt and friendly.

A great local spot for inexpensive and tasty food. Not sure why it's never more crowded. We order take out from here sometimes. Never had anything that wasn't excellent.

The owner is very hands on here. He sat us, took our order, rearranged tables to accommodate other guests. You can tell he really cares about his place. The food is so good! I ordered the five salad plate. Everything was fresh and delicious.

Great food, especially kofta Kebab. Hot pitas with the food. And even nice music. The staff is really nice too.

Tucked away on a quiet street in Brooklyn Heights, this little restaurant offers authentic Mediterranean food at very good value. A perfect place to stop off after a walk on the Promenade, a visit to Barge Music, the Brooklyn Historical Society or Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Perfect neighborhood spot! Owners very friendly and pizzas are great!!! Also had chicken salad with hummus delish! Big delivery service in neighborhood.

Even if you had never had middle eastern food you will love this place. Note to those who enjoy some wine when you dine, you can bring your own.

Here for lunch, had been a few years since first visit. The spinach pie was excellent. Gyro's could have had more substance. Taste was fine, recall it having been better. Sat on sidewalk soaking in views and people watching. Prices are very reasonable, cash only.

After walking across the Brooklyn Bridge we were looking for a place to grab a beer and some food before catching the subway back to Manhattan. This place met those criteria. The food is Middle Easter and everyone liked what they ordered. The portions are considerable and two out of the three of us couldn't finish. They also have non-alcoholic beer.

3 of us went here and had the mixed salad and some wraps, best middle eastern food café we went to. They make the bread when you order. Definitely try the dessert was fantastic. Service was good and the salads were very Fresh. IF you can get here go.

Stopped by to pick up my takeout order of chicken skewer with housemate hummus (awesome!) and a chicken Schwartz sandwich. Both ere incredible, will definitely be back!

Fantastic little family restaurant, tucked into a residential neighborhood. We had a superb lunch on New Years Eve. The hummus is excellent and everyone (2 adults, 2 kids) enjoyed their meals. If you don't feel like waiting for the line outside Grimaldi's, this is a short walk away and totally worth it. One note - no credit cards, but they have an ATM inside.

Very open and friendly owner, we could add people to our table without problems. The food tasted very good and we even got a tasty egyptian cake for free :)

Don't stand in line at Grimaldi's. Walk a few blocks up Columbia Heights from the Brooklyn Bridge or two short blocks from the Promenade. Freshly made pitas, good sandwiches (skip the onions) and delicious pizzas. Try the spinach pie. Best ever and only $6.

Nice atmosphere, good quality and cheap food. No problem with the service, although it was a calm afternoon with few customers.

Whilst visiting New York I ate here 5 times - sometimes just 2 of us but on one occasion we numbered 8. Each time the food was fresh and tasty and the prices good. The waiter who served us each time was fast and friendly and I will definitely be back when next I visit my daughter.

great food, cheap, with nice waiter staff (look for Mark!) in a nice neighborhood with the Brooklyn Promenade a two-block walk away....

Service can be slow, but the fresh-baked pitas are just too good. I eat here at least once a week.

Great food, fantastic prices, friendly / personal service. Wonderful menu - soups, dips, sandwiches, pizza, Turkish coffee. On a primarily residential Hicks Street in lovely Brooklyn Heights. Unhappy with the ambiance? Seriously? Lots of room. Quiet. Clean. Casual and unhurried. Comfortable. What else do you need? Some caveats. Cash only. Perhaps the worst parking situation in the city - so walk. No wine, no beer - just plenty of great food.. Just the smell of the deflating hot sphere of freshly baked pita and I know that I am back in Middle Eastern food heaven!

Living in the SF Bay Area, great Mid Eastern food is difficult to find. In Briiklyn, it was easy. We had the lamb Pitza, a pita topped with savory spiced lamb. Superb. My wife and I shared a salad ad dip plate that had creamy hummus, superior foule, serviceable falafel and great baba ganouche. It was a memorable meal. I will be back next time I am in Brooklyn.

If you happen to be in the area, please come here for lunch! They make one of the best falafel sandwiches, because they make their own pita bread fresh when you order it! Cost is pretty cheap too! It's easy to get to by the A/C (High Street stop) train and 2/3 train (Clark St stop). Afterwards, take a walk around the scenic neighborhood and walk off all that food you just ate!

This is a neighborhood restaurant worth seeking out. Dishes are fresh and delicious. Don't expect atmosphere, but service is good and a family can eat well and affordably.

Dropped by after reading the Yelp reviews on my Iphone...we loved it...sat outside. Had the 5 salad plate, the falafel plate and some amazing pitta bread...great place and tremendous value...three blocks from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade...great place - wonderful food, great location, friendly staff.....

We were at Bargemusic & decided to take the short walk uphill to Tutt Café. It was like traveling back in time to when every block in Brooklyn Heights/ Park Slope had a Middle Eastern eatery. The difference is, everything at Tutt is fresh and wholesome. We shared a roast lamb platter & "5 salad" platter. The pureed lentil soup, the baba ghanoush, and the fresh made, puffy pita, were especially fine. Not fancy, but friendly--toys on the shelf for waiting kids--a real neighborhood place.

We came to this restaurant by chance. We walked around and searched on TripAdvisor for a Mediterranean restaurant and found this restaurant. The food experience was really nice. Very tasty food. I ate Egyptian-style horira soup. A comforting and very tasty dish. The service was very courteous and relatively fast. Very reasonable prices. In short, recommended

This is a little family run Middle Eastern cafe that is a great value. It is very popular among locals, even if the decorations are a bit garish. Having lived in the middle east myself, I find the food authentic and very tasty. They are open for lunch and dinner.

The food here is excellent, service is good, prices are very reasonable compared to most places around here. I go here often and haven't been disappointed. Bring cash, it's cash only.
Wonderful Middle Eastern Food
It's just a little spot, don't miss it! It's "cash only" but the price is right. We ate here twice in our 7 day visit. Our groups of 8 and then 6 were accommodated quickly. The service is relaxed, but friendly and personal. Menu has a great variety of authentic choices. The varieties of pizza were a big hit. Pita and hummus are awesome!
