Great place for families

By dayoppermom |

When we walked in with a babe in arms, we were greeted like family. A paper was layed down so that we didn't have to worry about cleaning up under the high chair. As we sat, we were handed a small bowl and a baby fork with a perfectly ripen banana and a basket of toys. The place was noisy, noisy. The food was fantastic, freshly made, enough food to feed an army. Most exceptionable was the fresh food bowl that came with every entree, every fruit imaginable. Big gluten free menu was also helpful.

Huge menu, welcoming to kids, get there early!

By elilip |

Whenever I eat at Tweet with my kids, the staff kindly ask how old they are and provide a "busy basket" of books, puzzles, toys, etc. that are age-appropriate. Even older kids can get a basket with brainteasers, etc. What a great way to while away the time waiting for your food. The giant menu at Tweet will satisfy most palates and is very accommodating of dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc). I had a delicious portobello benedict the last time I dined there. My kids are partial to the oatmeal. The restaurant is very busy for breakfast and lunch on the weekends, so get there early and/or expect to wait a while. Also, the restaurant is cash only (there is an ATM inside if you should need one). Our servers are always friendly and helpful, and the coffee is good too! We love Tweet.

Tweet, a wonderful place to eat

Wonderful food, large portions, gluten free options, cocktails available, friendly, efficient, knowledgable staff, very interesting art. I'm a bit of a foodie and I'd highly recommend you seek out Tweet.

Sunday Brunch, Breakfast, Lunch or a Bar Meal

By xjpc2 |

I've been going here for years and the experience has always been consistent. Great service and attentive staff. The menu has many choices, including gluten free and vegetarian. Most of the ingredients are organic. The brunch is usually packed on Sunday, and the overflow queue completely fills the bar. This should give you an idea of why the ratings here are consistent. While frequented by LGBT, the establishment welcomes all, and does their best to keep the diners happy. We waited for our table for about 45 minutes which was enough time to browse the menu, make our meal choices, and enjoy two beverages, one of which was complimentary coffee, which by the way, was awesome. We noted that when tables were vacated, there was a 60 second turn time for clean up and occupancy by the next customers. The attached bar/lounge is served by the kitchen of Tweet well into the late evening. The menu is different but many of the same choices are available. Do be mindful of the cash only policy. I personally don't view this as a negative but some people are really irritated by this. There is an ATM on site.

Wedding brunch

By Mindy F |

I joined friends at Tweets for brunch before a wedding. The restaurant is fantastic, very welcoming to all. There were about 20 of us and everyone was very happy with the service, the atmosphere and the amazing food. Huge homemade portions with incredible vegetarian selections. Any time.e I am in Chicago, I will be stopping in.

Awesome neighborhood brunch. Great bloody Mary's

By bebechgo |

A neighborhood favorite for brunch. Great cocktails, they have a half dozen different bloody Mary's. They have numerous gluten free and vegetarian options. Today I had the biscuits & gravy and my friend had an omelet. I've had the chilliquilles numerous times. They start everyone with a small bite of coffee cake and cup of fruit. The owner gives back to the community and has tons of great art hanging on the walls. a favorite LGBTQ hangout.

Ok Tweet's is a little pricey for the average working stiff, and there can be an hour and a half wait for Sunday...

Ok Tweet's is a little pricey for the average working stiff, and there can be an hour and a half wait for Sunday Brunch, but the food is excellent, mostly organic, The staff is friendly and very accommodating, Free coffee while your waiting for a table. The biscuits and gravy are to die for, My friend Pam loves the Crab Cakes Florentine, The crowd is as friendly and gay as a Christmas goose. If for some reason you didn't get enough to eat, stick around til 4pm on Sundays for the free bbq/buffet Michelle and Dave prepare for the neighborhood.

Love Tweet

By Holly Golightly |

I've been visiting Tweet since it opened. I love the fresh organic ingredients and all the healthy options. Great menu with loads of options so there's something for everyone. Nice sweets to start along with a cup of fruit. One of the best breakfast options around.

Very good

By SRQPam |

I was in town visiting friends who live in this neighborhood. Although I am not a fan of the big breakfast I did agree to go along with the hype and have the "experience" as they suggested. I was not disappointed. I honestly did not peruse the menu extensively because once I saw the crab cakes I was done! I went for the platter version with a side salad to keep it on the light side. Absolutely excellent and not filled with a lot of bread crumbs. Very nice! Next time I'm in the area I will save a little room and have it Benedict style. Fun little breakfast/brunch place!

Fantastic drinks and brunch

By Barbara C |

Always crowded on weekends and worth the wait. Excellent drinks in Big Chicks bar next door while you wait. Known for their amazing Bloody Mary's. Order whatever strikes your fancy. It's all great. No reservations. Cash only. There's an ATM in the store up the block. It's like a big party. Wait staff are fun and very efficient.

Great little spot in Uptown

By Fillmore6 |

My husband and I ate here at the suggestion of our Airbnb. It was only three blocks from us so it was very convenient! We had breakfast and it was wonderful! The fruit cups were fresh, the little slices of coffee cake on the tables were delicious, and the drinks were tasty! Waitstaff was fast and prices were cheap! They also had a huge menu that can accommodate almost any diet. Tip: this place is CASH only but has an ATM

GREAT food, quirky staff, all around good time.

By Eric B |

My wife and I met a friend at Tweet for brunch yesterday. We only had to wait 10 minutes or so for a table. Fair warning, they pack them in so you'll be hearing the conversation at the next table. It's a Chicago thing, no big deal. The crabcake benedict was truly delicious. Everything that came out of the kitchen was amazing. When we were seated, the busboy noticed out table was a tad wobbly and came back to fix it without asking. The food was just really great. When we were finished eating and had paid (CASH ONLY) the hostess came by and told us it was time to go, haha! It doesn't get more Chicago than that! For a real treat, visit Tweet!

LOVE ME SOME TWEET

By alexchicago1 |

Awesome. Brunch. Cash only. Grab a drink before or after grubbing out at Big Chicks, the adjoining bar.. Tweet has a huge menu with all the most delicious diner-y breakfast and lunch items. I love the biscuits & gravy, any of the Benedict’s- especially the country Benedict, because gravy. The avocado toast is bomb. The breakfast burritos are tasty and huge. I can not recommend this spot enough!

Cosy place, mediocre service

By Berrap |

Had a brunch at this place. Good food and affordable prices. Cosy and unique; yet mediocre and impersonal service. Initially, the staff felt arrogant and not very easy-going when my friend asked questions regarding her allergies. When I got a hair in my salad and explained this to the waiter, I was simply replied upon with an "OK". Shortly after, I received a new one but never an excuse. Such a thing could happen the best; yet was handled very badly. Good food and prices, but the place needs more of a personal touch when it comes to service.

Very good - get there early to avoid a wait

By tuffy0317 |

We were smart (lucky?) enough to get seated right away when we went to Tweet for Sunday breakfast on the recommendation of a friend. I think that was only because we walked in the door at 9:15am, though! What a great neighborhood place! Our waiter was super friendly. When we told him we were relocating to the area, he took a minute out to chat with us about the neighborhood and others around it (as did the people sitting at the table next to us). The service was top notch - our water glasses and coffee cups were never empty. I ordered the quiche of the day, which was awesome. The serving was huge - literally 1/4 of the entire quiche. It came with fruit, a little salad and a croissant - way more than enough food. My husband got an omelet, which was also huge. They were nice enough to bring us complimentary bowls of fruit while we were waiting for our food. While I do think it would be a good place for families if you sat outside or in the main room, just be cautious with little ones sitting in the second room next to the bar: lots of photos (artful) of male and female nudity. It didn't bother us in the least, but may not be something parents want to deal with at 9am! Overall an excellent meal!

Fabulous place for breakfast!

By Joe D |

During a recent trip to Chicago and surrounding areas, we visited Tweet twice for breakfast - what a fabulous place to eat breakfast! Tweet is in north Chicago, in an interesting and lively area - parking doesn’t seem too bad; we managed to park outside. It’s a big place inside and bustles with customers. On arrival, your party will be presented with a plate with several pieces of cake - one for each in your group (complementary!) and the style of cake varies (daily I guess) but is fairly light but is a nice touch whilst you are perusing the BIG menu. Being America, the non-stop coffee gets poured (decaf available) and nice cold fresh water as well The staff work very hard and the food is so good - we had things like pumpkin pancakes, French toast, etc but there is a wide choice. I would thoroughly recommend that you visit Tweet for a breakfast treat if you visit Chicago - the food is great, the staff are nice and enthusiastic and it’s a good experience - there’s even a bar next door (same owners )!

Love this breakfast place!

By ColoAvsPuckhead |

Visited while visiting a family member who lives in the neighborhood. We drove and were fortunate to find a parking place very close, but can imagine this might be difficult at times. The host greeted us very warmly, and they give you small pieces of cake to nibble on while ordering. Our server, Rex, was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu - which was helpful because there are a wide range of choices. He continued to be very friendly and appropriately attentive throughout. We had the corned beef hash, Portland omelette, and crabcake Benedict - all were well-prepared, well-presented, and delicious. Prices were reasonable. Will definitely put on list for return visit. Be aware - they are cash only.

Great food, attentive and quick service

By Lev |

This place is a true gem in the Edgewater/Uptown area. I can't think of one bad thing about Tweet. Even the fact that it's cash only does not bother me. The food is fantastic, the staff is attentive, the service is quick. Be sure to get there early on the weekends as the wait can be a while (a testament to Tweet's popularity). There is something on the menu for everyone. From awesome pancakes to low-carb (the steak and eggs!) to gluten free options, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Please provide senior menu

By rosyshade |

So many options. Great food. But the portions are enormous. We are regular customers when we visit Chicago. Please offer a section of smaller portions for those of us who don't have enormous appetites!

Worth The Wait!!

By litlflogr |

Worth the wait! Went there this morning for breakfast, had probably a 30 minute wait and it was worth it. Loudish, friendly vibe waiting in the bar area for our table. Before we even sat down, they asked if we wanted the gluten-free menu - we didn't but it was nice that there was the option. Pumpkin bread on the table and fruit before breakfast, and it just got better from there! When we got to the menu, it was overwhelming with so many good choices - I couldn't decide so the waitress suggested - I ended up getting the Santa Fe Special - black bean patties covered with egg and home made salsa. Fabulous!! Also, our waitress was so friendly and happy. Everything about this place made me smile.

Worth the wait - but carve out a lot of time!!

By BeckyR154 |

A group of us recently had brunch here (on a Sunday). It was a solid one hour wait, but they crammed us into a quaint little table and it was totally worth it. The food is remarkable, staff is great and the place has a great buzz. I had the eggs florentine and was still full by the time I got back home to Denver that night. Great GF menu if you need it.

wonderful food and service!

By Hikrbabe |

We ate lunch here one day and then came back the next for brunch because the service and food were simply excellent! Great burgers and breakfast burritos!

One of the best breakfasts in Chicago!

By Diane K |

We discovered Tweet today and really enjoyed our breakfast. We went on a Saturday morning and from the reviews we knew it would be busy. We arrived 20 minutes before their opening time of 8:30 - and were the first ones there. It started getting much busier after 9 am. Our meal started out with a nice complimentary piece of coconut coffee cake. I had the Eggs Florentine - which were great. It came with a super fruit cup - a lot of variety of fruit and everything was fresh. It also came with a side salad which was very generous and had nice toppings (tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, etc..). Service was also very good. Wish we lived closer by - so we could make this a regular breakfast place for us. Note no reservations and you must pay with cash.

My favorite brunch place

By rachelle1625 |

Tweet is by far my favorite restaurant for brunch. They have a fantastic selection of bloody marys and other cocktails. And the food is always great, no matter what I order (everything comes with a fruit cup and when you sit at your table you get a delicious complementary little coffee cake). They are cash only, and only seat you when the entire party has arrived. They usually get pretty packed during rush brunch periods, but it's worth the wait. And while you're waiting, they have a bar with board games to hang out at. The wait staff are hilarious and have tons of personality. Love this place!

Gluten Free Brunch!

By Ilrak |

I was so excited to find out that there was a place with gluten free brunch offerings, and Tweet did not disappoint. They have an entire separate gluten free brunch menu and even give you a gluten free pastry at the door when you request the special menu. The pumpkin pancakes were absolutely delicious. The service is very fast, but the place can get very busy and loud during brunch.

Great, funky breakfast place

By Scott M |

Not surprisingly, this place was jammed at 11:30am on a Sunday. They must have had 150 people seated or waiting in their 3-sectioned storefront - one is Big Chick's Bar, where you wait and drink what you will (bloody Mary). Board games available for the hopelessly waiting. Super nice and friendly staff, mostly LGBT, as were the diners. Menu is fabulous, filled with beautiful, brimming plates of omelettes, breakfast burritos, benedicts and a bunch of gluten-free items. We had the corn arepas (with 2 eggs, black beans, avocado, and a fruit cup), the crabcake croissant with avocado and bacon, and the chilaquiles. All excellent. If you have the time, go here for brunch and have a little drink and a breakfast party.

Favorite Place while Visiting Chicago

By Cutiepet2tie |

Everyone says you have to get Chicago Pizza while in Chicago, but everyone needs to go to Tweet for brunch. Just what I wanted to see while in Chi-Town. A place where tourists and locals can unite. I had the Chilequiles (sp?) and it was absolutely amazing. I thought it was reasonably priced for the amount you receive. The give you a fruit bowl as well with actual good fruit like strawberries, blackberries, and pineapple. None of the crap fruit that most people give you. The staff kept our coffee cups filled and were very attentive to everything that we needed. The food was spectacular!!! Will definitely go back while in Chicago!

Incredible! A must try!!!

By Hart |

Brunch is amazing here. Great service but always a wait. They only accept cash but it’s worth it & ATM is on-site. They have low carb benedicts too. Great server & kept me in coffee. They will do side salads instead of potatoes. I loved the omelette & you choose your own fillings. Huge though- be prepared.

Very "in crowd" but still has good food

By Patrick J |

I went there on Sunday so of course there was a crowd. Most were from the mid 20's to mid 30's. They are what used to be called a hip joint. The customers are the ones that would have been Yuppies in an earlier age. The thing that they have in common is a like for good and healthy food. That is not a bad thing. They are a little costly but it is a deal. When they seat you they give you a small but flavorful pastry. The meal comes with a fine fruit salad. The omelet was very well done and I got a small salad with it instead of hash browns. They are a cash only place. They do have a full bar to wait for your table at or to drink at.

Truly Something To Tweet About

By Kate S |

This place has it all. Really. When we walked in the door we were instantly greeted by a woman who could've been a character in a Christopher Isherwood book - theatrical, savvy, hip, warm, and who somehow makes you feel as if, because you've come here, you are now part of an inner Chicago circle. You might have a chance to notice the art. The building. The collections in the restaurant and the bar. Then you get the food. The coffee. Much of it is locally grown and organic, all of it that I tasted was out-of-this world incredible. We lingered to read the paper and speak with the owner (Michelle Fire?), who has a great sense of humor and still works regularly, even though she's owned the bar and restaurant a long time. It's that kind of place. She told us her favorite eats in Chicago and we told her ours in Portland. She said to make sure to check out the walls.. And they're amazing. If you can get to this part of Chicago DO. And when you're here, go to this gem. Bring cash, as they aren't playing the credit card game. Be aware of popular times, too. This is not an undiscovered gem.

No joke - this place has the best hash browns I have ever had!

By chitowncuse |

This was my second trip to Tweet. Their food and service are terrific, and they make the best hash browns I have ever eaten in my life! They are crispy without being overdone, and they are shredded and not cubed - Perfect! I have now been there for both breakfast and lunch and both meals were fabulous!

Wonderful breakfast/brunch spot in the City.

By Steven and Kare... F |

The Eggs Benedict and broiled pork chop with eggs were great--9/10. Sampled the carrot cake and it was delicious. Extensive menu looks really interesting.

Owner Kicked Us Out To Turn Over Table.

By Bonnie T |

The food and ambiance (although loud) were good. Our server was good too. But as we finished our last bites and put our forks down, the owner asked us to leave because others were waiting, and she needed the table. We said we wanted one more cup of coffee while we settled the bill, and she told the server not to give us more coffee but to collect our money. There are way too many good restaurants in the city to get away with being this rude to paying customers. We hadn't lolligagged at all and said we'd leave after one more sip. She was more interested in making money than making reasonably happy customers. I don't care how good the food might be. An owner like this does not deserve our business.

Best brunch, hands down

By WeekendWanders |

I first showed up to Tweet on NYE, and haven't been able to stay away since. There is always a crowd, but even the wait is enjoyable, since they provide games (and delicious morning beverages) at adjacent bar.

Happy Little Brunch Place

By Kat B |

My friend Des and I stopped here last Saturday for breakfast. I loved it. There was a bit of a wait (all of 10 minutes or so) but we stopped at the bar for a morning nip while we were waiting. It gave me a few minutes to take in all the art on the walls (everything is very LGBT friendly here, and the art is no exception), and giggle at the selection of board games available for use. It sort of reminded me of a more cheerful Victorian's Midnight Cafe in Columbus, OH. I ordered a Mimosa and Des ordered a Bellini. Both came in champagne flute, and were $6 a piece... I kind of freaked at the price a little bit but such is my small town upbringing. That's actually decent for alcohol in the city. For breakfast, I ordered 2 eggs over medium with a side of fresh fruit, sliced tomatoes and an english muffin. The eggs were perfect. Too many places have I gone where they're not quite sure what over medium means. I just added a little salt and pepper and inhaled them. I liked that they use cage free/organic eggs. The tomatoes, though obviously not in season, were still flavorful and ripe. The fruit was also tasty. Not over or under-ripe, and they included some blueberries, blackberries, and other fruit that one doesn't normally find at the Bob Evans down the street. The coffee was also yummy. Des ordered the French toast, and three HUGE slices came on a plate that may have actually been bigger than she was! She really enjoys them though, and says she orders them every time she comes. Our server was very nice. Very down to earth and helpful, and had good recommendations for us. The one thing that was kind of a pain was that they only take cash. I'm used to just using my card everywhere, and really most places in Chicago take a card, but I did have to stop at the ATM. Conveniently, it was right behind our table. :)

More than meets the eye

By Pablo R |

The waiting protocol for this restaurant is something other restaurants need to enact at their own establishments. When I went it was decently busy. Our wait was around 20 minutes but the waiting area is a bar which is a genius idea. Perfect thing to do to kill time while and build a bit of an appetite if you’re not a morning eater. I got a breakfast burrito and a Bloody Mary while I was there. The Bloody Mary was ok but the burrito was pretty good. Nice and hearty and filling. I can eat so I always appreciate places that don’t skimp on the serving sizes. The overall experience including the respectfulness of staff and ambiance is why I rate it so high.

One of the Best Brunches in the Chi!

By kimborkr |

Want to have breakfast/brunch where a vegetarian and a meat lover will be equally satisfied? Well this is your place! Tweet is a hidden treasure in the Uptown area. Now you will have wait on Saturdays and Sundays, but it is worth the wait to be seated and greeted with their signature and yummy coffee cake parallelograms, and then washing them down with a mimosa or gramosa diva. My buddy ordered the Quiche of the day and had plenty to take home. It was served with fruit, a croissant and side salad and the quiche slice was HUGE! My boyfriend ordered the corn-beef hash with eggs and a never-ending pot of hot tea. And I had their Vegetarian Biscuits & Gravy made with veggie patties and spoon licken’ gravy. Like I said, the portions are big, so you will have plenty to take home. And you should save room for a slice of their delectable cakes, like the Red Velvet! No matter were you live in the city, it is worth the drive, bus or subway and wait time to experience breakfast/brunch at Tweet. Everyone will leave fat and happy!

Great Homestyle Breakfast

By Chad D |

Tweet exudes a hipster atmosphere, with most of their menu talking about free range chickens and milk from grass fed cows. This was a slight turn off for me, but I know these traits are important to some people. Looking past that trait, the restaurant itself is very good. When they seat you at the table they have a free treat for you. In my case it was some sort of coconut cake. In addition each menu item comes with a nice fruit cup. I mention the fruit cup is nice because it is filled with berries and not melons. The breakfast itself is on the pricier side (10-15$) per person, but you are paying for the nice atmosphere and organic foods they serve. I ordered the corn beef hash with scrambled eggs, which was nothing short of excellent. The coffee is pretty run of the mill diner coffee which has its own charm. The service was pretty good, there were at least 2 times where I had to flag down the waiter when he walked by. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants a filling breakfast before a long day of sight seeing.

Always WONDERFUL!!

By Kara W |

The service and menu offerings at Tweet are always exceptional. They also offer a gluten-free menu. Servings are more than generous and often involve a take-away container. My favorite is the protein platter, but there are many great options on the menu. The lox platter is an absolutely beautiful presentation. Brunch cocktails, specialty teas and great coffee. Bring the kids...Tweet's activity baskets are amazing :)

Delicious and fun

By MKTravels5 |

This place just makes you feel good in every way! From the minute we walked in and were warmly welcomed by Alex to the gentleman who refilled our water glasses, each member of Tweet’s staff was friendly and enthusiastic. The food options were plentiful- literally something for everyone’s taste and dietary needs. More than that though, it was all delicious! This is the perfect brunch spot!

Comfortable, and a bit funky . . .

By ukiah17 |

This has an old-timey feel, perhaps once a music venue, divided into two rooms, with an outdoor seating area on the sidewalk as well. Extensive menu - almost overwhelming - but wonderful in that this place caters to every dietary need. Staff is welcoming and prompt, service efficient and wonderful. Nice fruit cups to start us off with a late lunch, along with a small plate of some sort of powdered sugar spice cake for the table. Sweet touch! My simple eggs benedict was just right, accompanied by fresh leafy green salad. Happy to recommend this friendly spot on the south end of Andersonville.

If you like your eggs with a side of rudeness.....

By Shana S |

I'm not even sure they deserve one star! (But I'll give them one for the bloody marys) So my friend and I decide to have brunch. She suggests Tweet, she said she had heard good things. We get there and there's a wait, but figure it's a Sunday in Chicago and that's to be expected. They take our names to their list and send us over to a busy bar section to wait. We drink bloody marys and wait for about an hour and a half. They finally call our names and we were seated. As soon as we're in our seats our waiter is there to take our order. The rest of the meal was rushed. The food came lightning fast and then as soon as we even looked like we were going to put our forks down, he was there to almost remove our plates at last bite. That was the only other time we saw him. He never inquired about our meal once. He wrote the check out at the table and left it in the middle of the table. He told us to check out up front when WE WE'RE READY. We both still had coffee to finish, so we continue our conversation when the hostess comes to our table to tell us she "can make change for us" whenever were ready...odd considering we were just told to pay at the front and we never asked for change. She comes back after 5 mins and this time says she'll "be happy to settle our bill" WHEN WE'RE READY. We both nod and give a confusing smile. As soon as she leaves a bust boy comes over, he removes a napkin, a glass and asked if we needed anything else. My friend asks for a coffee refill and he awkwardly nods and I watch as he walks over to the guy that was calling names who is now looking right at me and shaking his head no that we can not have more coffee. (Supposedly, they have bottomless coffee, though we were never asked if we wanted more coffee). He walks up to our table and says to us "if you girls want to drink coffee and talk, you can do that all day at the bar, but not here". I couldn't believe it. It was so rude, even the people next to us noticed and commented. When I commented on his rudeness he got huffy and walked away. We had only actually been seated for about 20 mins after waiting an hour and a half. Needless to say, weekend brunch is busy, but that is no excuse to treat customers like they're doing something wrong by wanted to have a nice meal, conversation, and finish their coffee!

Two days two visits!

We traveled to Chicago to see a show at the Aragon. We found Tweet on TripAdvisor while looking for a brunch spot, and I'm so glad we did! Service was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly, and the food was superb! We went back the next day as well. I'd eat there every morning if I lived in Chicago! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Great Environment

Tweet is a good brunch place! The price may be a little over price. But you get what you pay for. Portions are huge. They have gluten-free menu. It's always packed. The food is good. Friendly staff as well.

A Gluten-Free MUST!

By ildikosloan |

If anyone in your party has gluten-free needs, Tweet is the place to be! Half of our group had gluten-free needs, and Tweet exceeded our expectations. They have a comprehensive gluten free breakfast menu. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous! The staff was attentive and friendly! I wish I stayed in Chicago longer, just so I could go back!

The best corn beef hash ever

By Anna C |

Tweet is a cool little place off of Sheridan Road in uptown. Their corn beef hash is to die for. Love how they give you with a little pastries before your meal while you’re waiting. I’m also a huge fan of the fruit cups that come with the breakfast. The art is very cool on the walls, lots of local people. The only downside is if you’re trying to get in on the weekend, be prepared for a long wait. However that’s the typical situation when you’re trying to get breakfast in Chicago on the weekend. On the bright side there’s free coffee while you wait for your table.

One of the Best Brunch Places in Chicago

By JayAsh N |

Rated one of the best brunch places in Chicago, this places lives up to its expectations. Although Sunday brunch can have long wait times, this can be an excuse to try their awesome bloddy maries that come in 5 different levels of spiciness. My all time favorite is their lox sandwich. However, their biscuits and gravy are also to die for. Wait staff are very congenial too..Great place to spend a sunday afternoon.

FABULOUS BRUNCH

By Leigh L |

We went to brunch at Tweet before the Cubs game. The food is EXCELLENT, the crowd eclectic. Great prices too. Wonderful way to start the Sunday in Chicago.

Great

By T G |

I came to Tweet's fifty minutes prior to it closing! The place was crowded, but i did get seated upon walking in. This place has a different feel to it considering its hooked to a bar which is named "Big Chicks". I couldn't stop looking around, and at the pictures because of the different feel. It has the scenery of a bar, but serves breakfast & brunch. Anyway, what ever their doing it's sure working, because it's rated four stars on Yelp, and had every seat filled, except the two seats at my table : ) The service, and food was great! Even though they were packed; the waiter's and waitresses acknowledged me and other customers in a friendly manner, even while leaving. Tweet's takes cash only, but does have an ATM inside, but to be safe I'd carry cash upon arriving in case there is a malfunction with the machine. As for parking i recommend parking in the neighborhood, or either taking the train. You can get off at CTA Argyle; walk towards the Lakefront, and take a left on Sheridan. Tweet's will be right there on Sheridan. I enjoyed Tweet's, and this definitely will not ne my last visit. Even though it took me a good fifteen minutes to order, i wasnt disappointed with what i ordered it went down quickly. I stopped in angry and hungry, and left happy and bloated! Enjoy! : )

Typical Breakfast diner food

By BBuddy |

We went here with friends who live in Chicago. We ended up having to wait an hour for a seat for Brunch only to find that most of the menu was just breakfast (at 2 PM). the whole place is kitchy and they have a side bar where you can get drinks while you're waiting for a seat. The Bloody Mary I had before the meal was very good I ended up having a chicken club sandwich and my husband had a hamburger. The hamburger was a typical burger nothing special and the club sandwich was fine. They give you chip with the sandwiches. Our friends got the egg benedict and seemed to like it. Food was fine, nothing special. I would go back but I wouldn't wait even 30 minutes for a table.

Loved the Eggs

This is a pretty cute little place, it felt a little out the way but worth the effort to find the place. Megan and I arrived a brunch rush hour, so waiting was the game for nearly 30 to 45 minutes. However, there was a sufficient waiting area down by the bar with table and chairs and also plenty of drinks if required. Eventually a very friendly member of staff took us to the table and great us with a nice glass of water and some lovely pound cake. What a nice touch.... I got Eggs Benidict and boy the eggs were amazing. Megan got an omlette special. It looks absolutely amazing. My main came with a fruit salad at the end. Wasn't on the menu, so was this another nice touch and gift. Drinks flowed as and when needed. There is also a handy ATM inside. I coudn't work out whether they accepted card payments.

Great Breakfast

Always delicious food in large portions. Everything has just a little twist to make it stand out from the ordinary. The service is second to none. Just remember to bring cash as they do not accept credit cards.

Prejudice

By AngelicTravel2 |

I recently had a really poor experience at Tweet with who I believe was the manager and/or owner. My friend and I went here for brunch and ended up staying slightly past closing time. We were done eating, but I was still drinking my tea and we were chatting - this is typically fine at most places. The manager came up, told us she needed us to pay right now, rudely took our bill off the table (which I hadn't even gotten a chance to look at yet,) and walked to the register. I would like to note there was group of white men also eating and they were not asked to leave and pay their bill at this moment - my friend and I are Black. When we got to the register, my friend and I began discussing how we would split the bill - which was $30 and some change. Since I had 3 $10 dollar bills and no change, I put down the $30, my friend put down a few dollars for her half of the tip, and began searching for the change for the remainder of the bill and I waited for her to give me her half of the bill so that I could leave my tip. We're actively discussing all of this out loud in front of the manager who can hear us, then the manager interrupts us and uses a dollar from my friends tip to cover the remaining change and then begins to chastise us saying "is this all you're leaving for a tip? This isn't even 10% - it's needs to be at least $6 - are you guys not from Chicago." I start trying to explain to her that we're still discussing how to divide the bill and she interrupts again telling us we need to leave a larger tip and she's just trying advocate for her waiters. I once again explain, that if she would give us a moment to discuss our bill, we can figure out what we're leaving for a tip. She then snatches the bill and the money, and angrily huffs away to the back. Meanwhile, the group of white men are still chit chatting it up without a problem. So I, too, walked away because I wasn't giving any more of my money to this establishment. Tweet promotes itself as an advocate/haven for the LGBTQ+ community; however, you CANNOT advocate for one minority group while actively discriminating against others - that defeats the purpose. Also - let's be clear - I have no problem tipping. In fact I was going to leave a tip larger than 10% because I understand that is additional income for people and I have no problem paying people for their time and service. I didn't tip because you're prejudice. Maybe you should host a few internal training sessions on how to treat people of color with respect - so you can then be properly advocate for your waiters - as you claim you were doing.

Energetic breakfast and lunch place

Great bloody Mary's, wide variety of egg dishes, pancakes. Lots of vegetarian dishes, sandwiches, and many other lunch favorites. Don't miss this north side brunch venue!

Breakfast at Tweets

By pkflyer248@aol.com |

My daughter and I had breakfast there yesterday. She had a huge breakfast burrito with tater tots and fresh fruit plus a pumpkin spice piece of cake. I had crab cakes on a croissant with fries and fresh fruit with pumpkin spice piece of cake. The place was jammed with lots of people waiting. The server was excellant. When I told him of my hearing problem he bent down and spoke directly into my ear. We have been to Tweets many times. She lives 3-4 blocks away. Always look forward to Tweets in Chicago.

Great local spot!

We went twice in three days for breakfast, yeah its that good! It's a great local spot that has great food and service! We will go again and again when we visit.

Super Delicious French Toast

By SeasonedFoodie |

I went with a friend to Tweet for breakfast. I’d never been here so didn’t know what to expect. The waiter suggested I get the French toast. I asked if they could add pecans to the French toast and “Voila!” A super delicious breakfast burst before my eyes. Add a side of crispy bacon and it’s done. So good I’ve been back a couple of times, but the wait was too long. I guess everyone knows how good it is. I’ll keep trying and will recreate this breakfast treat!

great breakfast burritos! also, while you wait there is free coffee and tons of board games to play... awesome.

Great food, great service.

We ate at Tweet for the first time and loved it. Wonderful food choices including an extensive gluten free menu. Service was good and attentive. Get there early on the weekend to avoid a long wait. Only drawback was that they only took cash - no credit card payments.

Excellent Brunch

By James B |

Tweet, Let's Eat, is a warm, comfotable brunch locale with a diverse menu to fit a variety of tastes. The menu accommodates vegan and gluten-free diets as well as hearty fare for the hungriest! The vibe was friendly and welcoming. We had the corn arepas with eggs and organic black beans and the Santa Fe special, black bean patties topped with organic eggs and salsa. This is one of the best brunch places in Chicago!

It's the little touches that make this place so great!

By Schmidly6 |

From the homemade bread on the table when you arrive to the fruit cup (or warm apple compote today) to the attention the staff pays to you, this place is great! Lots of good choices and great quality food!

Solid breakfast

By Popcorn Poppa 1 |

I spent four days in Chicago recently and ate breakfast at four different restaurants in and around Andersonville. Tweet was by far my favorite. Strong coffee, friendly wait staff, and a menu that went beyond standard omelettes and pancakes to vegan / vegetarian options. I wish I'd eaten there every morning.

Really great food and service!

By Brooke P |

I have been to Tweet twice- this last time with my two year old in tow. We did have about a half hour wait (not bad for Sunday morning at brunch time) and when we were seated, they had thought of everything for my son! They had a basket of little toys to play with and there was pastry on the table waiting for us, including a gluten free option for my husband! Their food is exceptional- I highly recommend!

A family-friendly favorite

By James M |

We arrived at 8:30 with family on a Saturday and were seated immediately. This is a favorite place for the 2-1/2-year-old in the group because of the activity box and the attentive staff. They greeted us warmly and were on top of things from start to finish. They weren’t busy at that time, but gave the impression they could handle any crowd. Tweet is vegetarian and gluten-free friendly. We enjoyed coffee cake slices on the table while looking over the extensive menu. It was hard to decide, but we were all happy with our choices; all delicious, hot, and attractively presented. My wife was especially impressed with the china teacup provided for her tea, rare in any restaurant. The rather small dining area is nicely decorated with photography and mirrors to open the space. We’d gladly return to try something else on the menu.

Very nice brunch place

It's a very very good brunch place in Chicago. Really enjoyed my two brunch there. Delicious and healthy. Food always comes with a full cup of fruit.

Excellent quality-price ratio!

By gloriavallfor |

We had brunch here on Sunday's morning! The service was excellent and their menu has a wide variety of options (that let's you personalize your dish a lot!). The food was really nice, I had an asparagus omelette (that also comes with a salad, a fruit bowl and toasts or tomatoes) which I would really recommend!

Worth the long wait!

By Fru |

Great staff, wonderful to kids, totally delicious, charming, quirky vibe. Long wait but worth it. Lots of vegan & gluten free options alongside traditional fare like bacon & hash browns.

Incredible brunch any day of the week!

By farr333 |

This is our third visit to Tweet, each meal more delicious and interesting than the last. All menu items are freshly prepared and innovative, yet still qualify as comfort food. We ordered the Santa Fe (meatless) and the gluten-free pancakes, not because of dietary restrictions, but just because they sounded delicious. And they were! Cocktails were fantastic. Service was flawless, and prices are reasonable. Try to avoid peak times, as this joint is pretty popular.

Rude, Rude, Rude

By Paulette V |

Our third time at Tweet, each time to celebrate my daughter's birthday as she loved the place, until today. Food and wait staff excellent as always, which is why I'm sure people put up with their host and woman who answers the phone (the owner?) who are the rudest I have ever encountered serving the public. I'm going to vent so that anyone thinking about going there with a group will not even try. They don't want you and will actually tell you that. From the minute we arrived, the host was rude, including to my 97 year old mom. He made her feel terrible by telling me, in her earshot, that he had passed over us because we didn't have her inside when he called our table (we had kept her in the car as she has a walker). So he 'showed us' and she had to wait in the crowded bar area even though my husband had arrived an hour earlier to put in our name and let them know she would be with us (they did not care). Then, as I see is a common theme from previous reviews, before we had even finished eating, the host came to us and said 'thank you so much for coming today, we have other hungry guests' and handed me the bill. I am not kidding! And the servers started clearing our places. No one even asked if we wanted dessert. By then we were pretty much in shock by the whole situation so just packed up what was left and got up and left. Once my family (9 adults) was out of the restaurant, I pulled the host aside and told him that I had never been treated so poorly or made to feel so unwelcome at a restaurant. He didn't apologize but simply told me that we should have chosen another restaurant for our group birthday celebration. Well, next time we certainly will. So, with all of the wonderful, delicious, choices in our great city, I urge you to reward those that make you feel welcome and want you back. Tweet is not one of them.

Amazing food & staff

I loved the CA Eggs Benedict. Our server was very friendly. My friend has a gluten sensitivity & they have a special gluten-free menu. Very accommodating & delicious. We were pleased.

Amazing!

By Here2Sea |

I love the variety, the service, the clientele, and the atmosphere. The sidewalk seating is a perfect way to wake up. Parking is pretty easy to find nearby. We enjoyed the country benedict. Yum! Service is fast. Your coffee cup will never be empty. And you'll leave with a satisfied and full belly.

The BEST value & eats for breakfast! YUM!!!

By pezdisney |

I found this place on the internet when searching for a fun, good place to eat for breakfast and this is the place. Met the wonderfully friendly owner there too at the register. A sweetheart of an owner who loves her work and restaurant. Always good to see. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere and the tasty food. I ordered an omlette and toast, typical true, but they make it taste and present it so well. Friendly people everywhere here. YUM. I could eat their breakfast for dinner!!! I understand it's a Chicago favorite.

Delightful

By twhite90 |

My wife and I went for breakfast with my sister and her boyfriend, who are regular patrons. My wife has to avoid gluten and dairy, and she got the GF Santa Fe, which she liked. I ordered the Heavenly Havarti omelet, which had a great blend of flavors. The coffee cake type thing they offer to everyone is good too. Highly recommended!

Amazing brunch menu and fabulous atmosphere

By Anne5880 |

This menu could not have been more diverse and delicious! Are you looking for a classic Midwest breakfast of biscuits and gravy, a vegan breakfast of black bean patties, gluten free pancakes? You'll find them here. The place was packed when we went but that's just a sign of how great the food is if people are willing to wait for a table. The great thing is the bar next door. You can have a free cup of coffee while you're waiting in a large room (I hate being stuck by the front door trying to be unobtrusive while waiting). The servers are all amazing and this is clearly the place to go for brunch in Chicago.

Awesome Gluten-free Options!

By SKK63 |

You know they understand gluten-free dining when they provide a delicious baked good option when you first sit at the table for anyone who's trying to avoid gluten. And there is an entire dedicated brunch menu! Great service, delicious food, cute place.

My new favorite Breakfast/Brunch spot Ever!

By Bunnie |

Girls Trip landed us in Chicago. We ate breakfast/brunch here every day for 4 days! Not one thing was less than perfection! The staff is amazing! Be prepared for a wait on the weekends.

Very Veggie friendly brunch

By mendokusai |

This establishment besides Big Chicks gay bar might not be in the nicest neighbourhood in the city, but it's definitely a find. Busy on the weekends with a wait, service is snappy and attentive. Menu has a number of vegetarian options and plenty to keep meat-eaters happy too!

Brunch on a Saturday

By Nancy S |

On the recommendation of our daughter we ventured to Tweet for brunch. The wait in the vintage bar area is very unique. Be sure to wander about and look at all the photos and art work on the wall. The bar is original from the 40's. The wait staff is very attentive to detail. This would be a five star rating with the exception of a delay for an order of Gluten Free pancakes. So worth the wait.

Tweet tweet, let's eat!

By jennygirl57 |

Had brunch here while visiting our son; he and his GF live nearby and recommended it. Charming place, loaded with interesting photography on walls. We had the Walter salad, scrambled eggs and lox, and the country benedict. Ice tea and iced coffee served with refill in glass carafe, nice touch. Waitstaff friendly and attentive. Will definitely return. Cash only.

Breakfast Time

By Susan T |

Visited over holiday weekend and although busy and a wait, it was a great meal. Staff helpful and attentive. Ample portions for all, including the vegetarians and little ones. They have games and even supply a kids basket with crayons and such to entertain while waiting.

So Worth The Wait!

By veggiemind |

You walk into a small, cramped, and bustling space and think...let's leave. However, the aromas wafting from their menu lure you to the waiting area where you can grab a free coffee. As the line forms and goes out the door, you thank your lucky stars you dragged yourself out of bed early enough to beat the crowd. The brunch on the weekends is so worth the wait. Great satisfying portions and tasty spins on the classic brunch menu make this place worth the visit for locals and visitors alike. I highly recommend this restaurant as a Chicago must-see.

Gluten Free GALORE

By Sarah |

We were thrilled to find this restaurant with SO many gluten free options. The good stuff: The food! I enjoyed a Portabello Benedict and my husband a Caprese Omelette. We were both VERY satisfied. The hollandaise on mine was wonderful. I’ll get another Benedict next time I go back. The hash browns were great and the seasonal fruit cup contained fruit that actually tasted like fruit (not water). The service: Excellent and friendly. You expect uptight hipsters and find friendly accommodating people. Oh, and the pastries they set down when you are seated... D E L I S H. Room for improvement: The bacon is $4 for 3 slices and the slices are pretty small. The Bloody Mary boasts of a kick but the Classic Bloody Mary left some spice to be desired. At the end of the day, It is already our new favorite brunch spot. We loved the option to sit outside! Good to know: Cash only (but they have an ATM) Last seating is at 2:45.

Good food

By Debbie A |

I thought this was a cute place. I also loved that they had a lot of choices for vegetarian and gluten free patrons. Nice atmosphere.

Good food extensive menu but way too loud

By Amy H |

Popular busy place. We got there early (10) and didn't need to wait-by the time we left there were many parties waiting to be seated. Extensive menu especially for vegetarians who often have few options. Mostly in the egg category but some salads, sandwiches etc. food was reasonably priced/maybe a little on the high side and tasty. The noise level is so high that I had to shout to be heard to the woman on my left. I might go back and try the outdoor seating but wouldn't eat in the indoor space again. I prefer to be able to have conversations with the people in dining with.

Yummy Brunch in Uptown

Awesome breakfast/brunch spot. Great menu (they have a different menu on the weekends - FYI) Friendly staff, yummy food. Can be busy but I think its worth the wait.

The Spanish breakfast, Fresh tomatoes at this time are available, I do not understand that we are served tomatoes in concerves!! I won't come back

Nice atmosphere

By daniel k |

Wish I could say this place had better food. The environment is nice, there are outdoor tables, even though there was a wait the list moved quickly. My buckwheat pancakes were meh, nothing memorable and my husbands mexican areapas breakfast wasn't very spicy and didn't have cilantro on it which could have helped it. All in all, an okay spot but nothing exciting or fabulous.

I think I've been here 3 times in the last couple months and I don't live in Chicago. 'Nuf said! The French toast is really good. I've had the Tweet salad with a salmon patty and that was terrific. The servers are always lovely and pretty quick. Love this spot!

While Tweet is well-known for breakfast and brunch it's a good place to go when you feel like a salad for lunch. They have several different ones and they are filled with fresh ingredients and also huge. After being so diet-conscious, you can indulge in a slice of red velvet cake! There's outdoor seating in fine weather.

Went here breakfast. The food was delicious and quickly served. Our server was the nicest and best server I’ve had in a long time. We had an assortment of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. It was all good and served quickly served despite being full.

Gluten Free, Vegan, All Organic, Or Just Plain Good

By sbsfl |

Was going to an event in Uptown Chicago, and was looking for a local breakfast place. Happened upon this place, and it was just what I was looking for. The little neighborhood spot has extensive gluten-free, vegan and organic choices, but also just a lot of great offerings in general. I had scrambled farm fresh eggs and hash browns, rye toast with a great selection of jams (I tried red raspberry and blackberry). Most meals also come with a cup of delicious fresh fruit. You can dine streetside, or inside. Free wifi. Also has plenty of lunch options. Love finding places like this.

Must do brunch here! Had the #8 Breakfast burrito. Served with fruit cup and some type of great pastry with chocolate when we sat down. Waited in bar & loved all the Bloody Mary choices. Went with the boozy iced coffee- Mothers Little Helper! Just warning you need cash here- no credit cards. Great Benedict’s here too!

BEST brunch in Chicagoland!!

WOW, what a terrific meal! Huge, flavorful brunch consumed by all 4 of us. Order tea as your beverage and it will be served in a English Fine Bone China cup and saucer fit for the Queen! We loved every morsel, and think that it is good value for money, even if a bit pricey.

Great atmosphere, well worth the wait

By Diamond D |

Came here on the Sunday of labor day. Great food, marvellous atmosphere. A little bit of a wait but plenty of room in the bar to sit and grab a drink and chat while waiting

Fantastic place to fit any diet restrictions

By JenMJM |

Had a wonderful brunch here with my cousin and her husband who used to live in the neighborhood. They are both gluten-free and lactose intolerant, and I can see why they love this place so much! The menu is VAST, and there is about everything on it that you can possible imagine that fits ANY diet criteria. I had the Heavenly Havarti Omelette, and I wish that I had chosen something a little different because the flavor wasn't quite there for me - too subdued, I think. I love that nearly everything on the menu is organic and/or local. Please note, they only accept cash and this place gets packed on a late Sunday morning!

Chi-Town Gem

By Caitlyn |

I am a huge brunch fan. First off, if there's a wait (which there usually is), they send you to the waiting area where they have board games you can play while you have yourself a drink. They have an actual Bloody Mary menu and all sorts of craft beers on tap. The food= unbelievable. Each meal comes with a small but loaded fresh fruit cup and the food comes out quick. Hashbrowns are perfectly cooked. Try the Crab-Cake Benedict. WHOA! Plus, we had an awesome server named Janada, so I think that made the experience even better! Ask for her. Love this place and will definitely visit again the next time I am in town!

Good menu with lots of choices.

By barb777 |

It's tough to choose just one thing on the menu, since there are so many good choices. The food is decent and hearty. You can't go home hungry! We went on a Sunday morning for brunch and it was very very crowded and very very noisy. So, if you're looking for a calm, relaxing brunch, this may not be the place for you. It was very loud, so we couldn't really talk much during our meal, which was disappointing. The wait was an hour, but there is a bar area to stand and wait with a few seats. They do provide free coffee while you wait, but no decaf , unfortunately. They mentioned they were exceptionally busy that day and it usually isn't that crowded. I'd think about trrying it again if there wasn't the wait - and if I could get a cup of decaf if I did need to wait. Not alot of parking nearby, either. The bloody mary's were just ok, nothing special.

Excellent brunch/lunch spot!

By silverms |

This has become one of my favorite brunch places in the city! I bring all out of town friends here for a delicious, large-portion, colorful, fresh brunch or lunch. Super vegetarian and gluten-free friendly. Excellent staff.

Tweet--A Sweet Spot

By Chicago-BB |

I finally visited this popular restaurant for a birthday breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning. It's cash only and there's always a wait but it's worth it and painless. Free coffee and water in the adjacent room that doubles as a bar at night. The dining rooms are eclectic--casual, mismatched tables and chairs in adjoining rooms spaced close together, yet still comfortable. Service is speedy and efficient, without a lot of time for chit-chat. I was immediately impressed with the menu. Interesting options in both sweet and savory as well as lots of gluten free and vegan choices. Add to that lots of cocktails and an assortment of Bloody Mary's and everyone should be pleased. We were immediately served their house bread--this time coconut bread. Our table enjoyed a country Benedict (excellently flavored sauce) a quiche of the day (huge portion) Corned Beef and Hash (tasty meat) and avocado toast (perfectly seasoned avocados with a side of Pico de Gallo). Everything was delicious and came with fresh fruit and two of the entrees came with a side salad. Next time I will ask for dressing as my wonderful green salad didn't seem well-dressed. We arrived in Uptown on the CTA Red Line and that is the only caution that might be worth noting. The area around the Red Line stop seemed dicey especially for a Saturday morning. I'm not fond of seeing people street peeing or having groups of four and five people asking me for money. We will definitely go back, but probably drive.

Good food and plenty of it

By baltoteach |

My wife and I went to Tweet on a recommendation while on a recent visit to Chicago. The morning weather was fantastic with temperatures in the upper sixties so when we spotted patio seating, we knew we were sitting outside. My wife went for arepas (corn pancakes) with a fried egg, cilantro, chorizo and salsa on top. I ordered an omelet with Danish blue cheese (I love blue cheese) and spinach. The food was fantastic and it was one of the best omelets I’ve eaten. The cheese just melted throughout and gave me a warm feeling with every bite. Our waiter, Walter, was very attentive and the owner, Michelle, was very helpful and nice. It was a great breakfast experience and our only regret was that we could not return before going home.

Excellent brunch restaurant

The choices and quality of the generous meals makes Tweet the go to brunch experience. The bar menu is fantastic as well.

Mediocre food and cash only

By HelenaGuerra |

Sometimes a place with a good rating on Yelp doesn't mean anything. But even Tripadvisor reviewers, that are more trustable, are giving it an excellent rating. I couldn't disagree more with that. I'm giving 2 stars because the staff was super nice. Otherwise I would give 1 star. We ordered - French toast It had butter on top. It was really disgusting. Butter and syrup, seriously?! Instead of French toast this could be called heart stroke. It deserves 1 star. It was the worse French toast that I already had in Chicago. - Country Benedict eggs The sauce was incredible bad. I also disliked the potatoes. It wasn't tasty at all. It also deserves 1 star. And this place is CASH ONLY. Seriously, which type of restaurant doesn't accept cards?! Even more ridiculous is complaining about this with the manager/ owner and see that she doesn't care about customers opinions. Btw, the restroom was disgusting!

Perfect in every way

By Kathleen S |

The attention to detail is part of what makes this restaurant so very good. We chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful morning. The waiter brought us some fantastic chocolate chip coffee cake to eat while we looked at the menu and had our drink orders taken. We ordered entrees, so they brought us out the most beautifully presented fruit cups we had ever seen next. The fruit was fresh and not supplemented with anything from a can. There was a wide variety of food choices suitable for vegans, vegetarians, and those pursuing a gluten-free diet. The entrees came with a choice of hash browns, sliced tomatoes or a good portion of a beautifully made salad. The house vinaigrette was perfect. Portions were generous. The wait staff was readily available and attentive without hovering. This is a LBGT (etc) friendly place, just very welcoming and friendly all around. We felt very comfortable and not at all rushed. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will share a picture later.

Awesome breakfast!

Tweet exceeded all expectations. When we arrived, the host acted like we were longtime friends yet we had never met. Seated right away with an activity basket for both of my kids. Warm, complimentary donuts delivered to the table upon being seated. Great food and a great, laid back atmosphere. Definitely recommend if you are in that area of Chicago.

Good. Busy. 3 1/2 Stars?

By jahhp |

So, I would have given this place 3 1/2 stars vs. the 3 that I gave it if I could have. I have lived in Chicago for over 14 years and have always wanted to try Tweet, but never made it. The wait for Sunday brunch for my friend and I was about 45 minutes. The place was PACKED (good for them!). They do offer free water & coffee in the bar area. I am not a coffee drinker, but friend is and said it was rather weak. I had heard fantastic things about Tweet and I guess I will give it another try. Nothing was BAD, mind you, but nothing was FANTASTIC either. I had the eggs benedict, my friend had the florentine benedict. My friend remarked how the poached eggs were slightly overdone (I know, picky, but...he was right). They were not DRY, however and WERE tasty (actually, when I cut into my second egg, it was a bit less done, but still not as runny as it should have been. My friend had the same thing with his second egg). He had raved about the hash browns before we got them. I was really looking forward to them. He was disappointed this time as was I. Again, not BAD, but not great either. The fruit cup that came with the meals was fine. Also, when seated, we had a complimentary sweet that was very good. I will say that I did feel at one point as if we were being rushed out of there. I understand that you want to turn tables to get more people accommodated, but it was kind of rude. Portions were good and prices were very reasonable. I appreciated the organic eggs as well. The owner is lovely and the vibe is energetic. It was a fun time overall, and I will most likely be back. I suppose my expectations were higher than what I got, so knowing that will probably help me enjoy it more next time. I just hope the food is a bit more consistent with the rave reviews I've heard from friends all these years.

One of my favorites!

By FlemishPolska |

I love this place so much! I visit about once per week. -Food is always fantastic -Portions are large -Service is attentive, efficient, kind and perfect -Menu has tons of variety -Vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian options -Cute and unique atmosphere -Full bar for brunch -Every meal comes with fruit cup -Outdoor seating -Down to earth, laid back, non-judgmental, LGBT friendly! Keep in mind, this is CASH ONLY, but there is an ATM in the restaurant. They are only open for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Once they close, they open up the bar next door, Big Chicks - which I also love!

Very Nice Brunch

By Companion3076 |

The wait is long but the reward is great! Nice mimosas and great breakfast with nice, friendly service. Every dish at my table of four was great. We had the danish "bignets" as a table appetizer and it was great. Don't miss the extensive art collection on the walls of both the restaurant and the bar next door. This is a Chicago winner!!!!!

I can't say enough about Tweet. Breakfast was DELICIOUS! The staff was friendly and worked very quickly. We arrived at 10:00 a.m. and the place was packed, however, after a short time at the bar enjoying a beverage, we were seated. The staff was very friendly and our food arrived quickly, We tried the french toast, a breakfast burrito, eggs benedict, and their corned beef hash. One important note, the restaurant closes at 3:00 p.m. and does not accept credit cards (cash only), however, there is an ATM on-site for those who didn't bring enough cash ($2.00 ATM fee).

ASK US TO LEAVE, BEFORE WE WERE DONE!!!!

By Susan P |

Met friends there for breakfast, we were almost done and the owner, and later the bus boy, came to our table and asked us to leave, because people were waiting, I was so up set, and never had been treated like that before, We work hard for our money and spent around 60-70 dollars with drinks. I will never go there again, and hope others read this...and go some where else were they are treated with respect...

I want to live here

By Ann F |

And I want the people who work here to be my brothers and sisters, and I want the cooks to be my parents and I want them to make me eat everything that's good for me - which is basically everything on the menu. We were a large group and the place as jammed and the weather was terrible. In spite of all that, these guys made us feel welcome and warm, like they were so happy we came. The long wait was managed with humor - and a round on the house - and the food was abundant and oh so good. It's the kind of restaurant that Chicago is known for - that great neighborhood place that welcomes everybody. I think Mr. Rogers must be a silent partner. I can't wait to go back. Tweet, tweet.

Yummy Pumpkin Pancakes

By got2go |

Come for the Pancakes, stay for the great service! My daughter and her roommate insisted I accompany them to one of their favorite breakfast spots before we left the city for good. What a wonderful idea. Their two favorite items, Gluten Free Pumpkin Pancakes and Corn Beef Hash are definitely worth the trip. The pancakes don't really have a strong pumpkin flavor, more cinnamon than pumpkin,I would say. The corn beef hash is made there I am told and not at all greasy like many other hash's can be. I ordered the asparagus and ham omelet, but unfortunately the eggs were a bit over cooked. Be sure to ask the server to have the cook watch that and I think it will be fine. Our server was cheerful, and helpful, making the trip a totally positive experience. Eating outside on a warm spring day with very few customers didn't hurt either of course, as they are not open 7 days a week due to an increase in business.

Very nice breakfast

By Onthegoboomer |

We had brunch here and it was very nice. The staff are pleasant and the food is average. We ordered a breakfast burrito and it was essentially an omelette wrapped in a tortilla and the steak was pretty sparse. Fun environment though.

Definitely going back!

Delicious food!! Everything that was coming out of the kitchen looked mouth watering. Great value place with lots of character and something for every taste bud. Sweet, savory, spicy, healthy. Lots of vegan and gluten free options.

Great place for breakfast, lunch or brunch.

By Alan C |

I can understand the lines on the weekends to dine here. I have lived in the neighborhood for many years, but had the opportunity to visit with some out of town friends this past weekend. There is seating inside in two dining rooms and limited outside patio dining. Prices just a touch higher than some in the neighborhood, but the food quality and portions make up for the difference. Enjoyed the food so much, had to return in two days to enjoy again. Have only had breakfasts/brunch, but the salads look huge and looking forward to a burger on the next trip. A must try for everyone in the area. If eating outside, please be aware there is bee activity on the patio and it is a cash only establishment. Overall, felt like I was on a vacation

Amazing breakfast/brunch! Just be prepared to wait.

Love the gluten-free pumpkin pancakes

By Toni K |

A funky neighborhood brunch place, it's hopping with regulars (for good reason) so you may have to wait 10-15 minutes - but they do an excellent job of managing the crowd (they don't rush you either) - immediate service and quick delivery. All the food is great and plentiful. A little noisy but that's okay because you are busy eating!!

Great Breakfast and Exotic Art

By Lynn8894 |

This place has it all for a lively morning on the city. My Maytag blue cheese omelet rocked, the breakfast burrito delivered, and when you are put on the waiting list you are ushered into a bar full of some of the city's liveliest characters, and big beautiful drinks and art that ranges from sublime nudity to Frida Kahlo. If you are seated immediately and have youngsters you'll be offered a basket full of games. All in all a bit hit.

Dollar burger night!

Tweet is a great place to gather with friends, do brunch on Sunday or Monday dollar burgers. Full bar, juke box, and sidewalk seating area.

Best Breakfast in the City!

By esuitorf |

My wife and I have been to tweet more than a half of a dozen times in the last 6 months. We love it so much that we have brought all of our parents and friends. The service is always excellent and the food is so good! My wife has Celiac and cannot eaten gluten; they are always so careful and accommodating. The cake and fruit before your meal are a great start and it only gets better from there. Don't forgot to bring cash and there may be a wait at busier times!

Delightful and Delicious Brunch

By Bill |

Their menu is mind boggling with great breakfast creations. There must be at least 11 different versions of Eggs Benedict. My son and I enjoyed the Crab Hollandaise Benedict and the Veggie Benedict at a sidewalk table on a gorgeous Monday morning. We shared an order of the Biscuits and Gravy just to taste their homemade sausage gravy. Our meals were absolutely wonderful. They started us out with a wonderful pastry followed by fruit cup and then our entrees. The service was very friendly but more importantly it was so very professional. This is definitely a place to try if you’ve not been here yet. I will certainly return to try another one of their delicious creations. To everyone at Tweets....many kudos on a job well done.

Take Your Appetite

By NMPCC100 |

I went here for lunch recently. I think this is more of a brunch/breakfast place as most of the menu was for that kind of food. I had a chicken salad which was very good and the portion was enormous. Extensive drinks selection and very friendly and welcoming staff.

Fun Brunch Spot

By DowntownDean |

Met some friends here for brunch while visiting Chicago. Walkable from the Metro. Had a long wait to get a table, but that is because the food is so good. Very lively crowd and drinks available in the bar while you wait for your table. Lots of vegan options if you need them. You do need to pay with cash, so that could be an issue if you don't have any on hand. A very good option for brunch if you aren't in a hurry.

Mediocre. Seems like something of an LGBT "place to be and be seen" more than anything else. The biggest disappointment was the aebleskiver which were really bad: served cold and were dry and flavorless. I hated telling the women sitting next to me that they were nasty, but they asked. As a venue, Tweet seems to want to be thought of as friendly, neighborly, but the service didn't convey that. My waitress, in particular, was either humorless or just not very clever or both. Won't go back unless I have to.

Great good and waitstaff

Enjoyed a great breakfast with out of town friends outdoors on the fenced in sidewalk dining area. The place was crowded and the atmosphere was relaxing and friendly. Eggs Benedict awesome !

Tweet tweet yumalicious!

By Aggy |

Excellent service. Excellent food and presentation- clean eating! And eggs from non-caged chickens:) Seems to me tweet is doing it right- DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE. We are two mornings in a row and I had the veggie Benedict both times. Consistent and spot on. Keep it up! PS Everyone was very friendly. Professional and business driven w kindness. Never crossed paths w anyone even slightly rude. Maybe busy, but never rude.

Great food, quick service- bring cash!

By jessz1717 |

Visited Tweet for brunch on a late Saturday morning with a friend. Very crowded place, but we were seated within a couple of minutes. Great service, our waiter was very attentive. I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of eggs and bacon and my friend had the Country Benedict. Both were delicious! Just note that there is a cash only policy! They do have an ATM inside but it's a $2 fee. We paid for parking out front, but the door says there is a lot out back.
