I haven't eaten here in a quite a while but I was still impressed with the quality of the food. Great selection of burgers on the menu any would please the hungriest of folks!

If you want to have a great time with a great atmosphere along with some great food, come here. The Honey BBQ Bacon burger was delicious, and their beer selections are pretty good.

This is definitely a burger joint. They do have a few other things on the menu, but you go there for great burgers. Everyone loved their burgers and the frozen margaritas were good too! I just wish that you could order a pitcher of margaritas. The inside dining part is small and kind of smells like fried food. The outdoor seating is surprisingly large and a great environment.

Tycoon Flats is locally owned with a hometown, casual feel that specializes in burgers and sandwiches. Their breakfast menu is a surprise, very good and large portions.

Stop in for a bite. nice spot specials different each day. It was a jalapeño bugger. Very good. We both Try ed the fried pickles gummy. Thin cut light breading. Wife had a small gegular hamburger. Also very tasty. As we was in joining are meal the place began to fill up with costumers. They have a out door bar and sitting lots of room. Going back with friends exit time.

Excellent burger and salad for lunch on Sunday. Very friendly waitstaff. On North St. Mary's very close to Trinity University. Highly recommended.

If you have not tried this place you need to. We went for a late lunch. We tried the foie Gras Kobe beef burger at the Boiler Room at the Pearl next to Hotel Emma Friday evening. Good but not much flavor. Then we tried the Roasted Garlic Onion Signature Sauce Burger At Tycoon Flats and it was OMG delicious 😋. Our waitress was super attentive and sweet. We also tried the delicious mixed veggie appetizer. It was light crispy and perfectly paired with the sauce. The veggies were so fresh❣️This Place is my new favorite burger place❣️

Tycoon Flats Restaurant 2926 N St Mary's St, San Antonio, TX 78212 @ (210) 320-0819 Okay, let me first preface this review that I did like the atmosphere and most of the food. However, if I am in the area and want a REAL BURGER... I'm heading to Sam's Burger Joint. Just saying... We didn't have high expectations. The parking lot was full, so that seemed promising. I dropped off my wife in the front and she grabbed us a table. It was busy and bright in their dining room. The waitress was okay. I'm still on the fence with her. Now the food, please!!! 6 Premium JUMBO Wings (8): We tried the Buffalo flavor. They were very good and juicy. But jist came with six. May pass on them if there is a next time due to their pricing of $10.00. Double Ize Box Burger (7.5): I added bacon and mushrooms. It was good, but not great. It was big, so it filling me was not an issue. I wish they toasted/grilled the buns on both sides. The bacon wasn't crispy. It was slightly bland. Aussie Burger w/the Lot (7): was above par. Seemed too busy. Was very filling, but have had better. Mini-Tyke Burger w/Cheese (7.5): Great size for the kiddos. Was seasoned well, but plain. Nachos with Cheese (4): The cheese and beans were above par, but the chips were like cardboard. They tasted soggy and chewy. We should have sent back... Frid Red Onions (9): They were very good and their dipping sauce is very tasty. Overall, it was just okay. Ate it, Conquered it, and moving one. Meh, "Big" Henry #BigHenrysReviews

Excellent burger and fries. We actually split the 1950’s Cheeseburger and it was plenty. Waitress (Rachel) was efficient and very pleasant!

It was and I mean it!! This place was recommended to us by a friend because it was on our way to the zoo. It really is right up the road. It was filled with locals, we were I am pretty sure the only tourists there. Its been on Food Network and I know why!!! WOWWEEEE!!! We ordered the burgers they had other stuff too but its the burgers they are known for so the burgers we tried. Oh and the fried pickles!! Yummy!! Don't miss it. The parking was great the clientele eclectic old and young, hip and not, families large and small. My son asked if we could get him a burger to go after the zoo...so he could try another one before we went home.

Burger joint near south town. This place is well known for their taps and burgers. Prices can vary but lunch is always a good time. Try the soup too!

This eatery is located in an older part of town that has been revamped and sustained over the years and popular with local and tourists. It is in the vicinity of Trinity University between downtown and Brackenridge park. It is a casual atmosphere and a versatile clientele. It is easy to locate from IH 37 and parking was easy. The first thing we noticed was the gorgeous plants and foliage in containers on the open patio, which had a few metal tables with umbrellas, and around the building. There is a large outdoor bar area that is completely shaded by trees. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and there was plenty of seating. At the entrance is a very small bar with stools. Our waitress, Amber, was very friendly, efficient and super attentive. There is a small chalkboard menu with daily burgers, which are all very unique creations, and also lunch combos. The regular menu has a variety of food choices as well. We ordered the two fish taco combo ($8.50), which comes with tea and house tortilla chips and the Havarti/Pickle Burger w/fries ($9) and drink not included but only $2 for tea. The food was prepared timely and presented well with perfect temperature. The fish tacos were delicious and served in double corn tortillas with salsa and dressing on the side. The tortilla chips were very crisp and not greasy. Now make note that in the regular menu it is stated that the all burgers are cooked medium well but on the small chalkboard it does not indicate this. I like my burgers cooked through and this one had some raw looking areas in it that I did not eat. It was very juicy and flavorful and the house made pickles were really good. BUT the bottom bun got soggy really quickly from soaking in the burger juices. I had to leave portions of the burger. The fries were seasoned perfect and fried crisp and not greasy. The entire place inside and out was clean with an inviting, relaxed atmosphere. Even though the inside is not real large and was farely full, it was not overly noisy. I could see this might be a "party" hangout for college age on the weekends. Amber made this experience very pleasant and we enjoyed ourselves.

We took our best friends for burgers and onion rings Labor Day evening to Tycoon Flats. The service and every bite of our meal was wonderful. Even though it was a hot day, they had "cool" outdoor seating and we enjoyed that so much. We highly recommend Tycoon Flats for good food and service.

So, this has been by far the dirtiest restaurant I've been to so far and the smell puts you off your food. It's such a shame because they do actually make a delicious burger but I just cant get passed the filth. I also made the mistake of peeking in the kitchen best I could. Wish I hadn't. This place has a great outdoor bar, I'm guessing that evening time is busy which may explain the foul stale mix of urine and alcohol. The staff like to stand around and talk a lot instead of find things to do.. like cleaning. I would only return here if this place lifted its standards and hygiene. Unfortunately the end result for me was an extended visit to the bathroom once home.

Trinity hang out. Enough said.

Good burgers and bar food in this easy going fun restaurant --we ate outside and it was good and the burgers delish , wings, sandwiches, bar food etc good family place for lunch or dinner

Found this place on accident! We did dine inside due to the heat. My husband enjoyed his Chicago hotdog, our guest liked her 1950 plain cheeseburger but didn’t care for the sweet potato fries. I liked the fried apple, blue cheese, bacon Chicken sandwich. I should have asked for the bun to be toasted, that would have made it better. Couldn’t taste the apples at all, but the bacon was good. Onion rings ok. Not a cheap lunch by any means, sandwiches were approx $18.00 each.

Daily burger specials are delicious, great salads, and nice beer selection. Live music Wednesdays through Sundays. Fun patio to get friends together.

Innovative craft burgers. Fun atmosphere. Great service. Elevate these burgers with the simple addition of salt & pepper to the pattys, & go from a four to a five rating.

Went to visit friends for lunch last weekend and we met at Tycoon Flats. They have a real nice outdoor area with a bar and TVs. I can see this place being great for football watching. I ordered the nachos and was not disappointed. They were very delicious. I chose to add chicken, but you can also substitute beef (see picture). The menu is loaded with options: burgers, fish tacos, salads, and they have an excellent adult beverage selection. The couple we met got mango fish tacos and thouroughly enjoyed them and my wife enjoyed her spinach salad. Our little tyke got a hotdog and was very pleased. One of the gentlemen who run the place, Mike, came over and chatted with us for a few and was very friendly. I would definitely rank this place between 4 and 5 stars. Go give it a try. You won't be regret it.

Great place for hamburgers. On an evening it's a huge community hangout. Don't miss the bar and area outside. Good for lunch and dinner, or late night.

We had outstanding burgers which were off the hook. Can't thank you enough for your food and hospitality. Richard and Malcom you have such a great passion for service and great food. Well done. Thank you for spending sometime with us today on our visit and making us feel so welcome. We travelled from Australia to eat your burgers!!

I loved the mango fish tacos, they were some of the best I've ever had! My husband had the chicken panini. He is VERY picky about food and even he loved it! Very welcoming owner held the door for us on way in & our waitress was on top of her game.

Kind of typical outdoor burger and southwest bar. People were there to have fun. Mango fish tacos were good My wife enjoyed her Greek Panini and our 23 YO son couldn't finish his huge bacon stuffed burger. Unfortunately, we ended up seated with a water cooled fan dripping on us.

I ate there for a late lunch with my 4 kids, ages 6-12, this weekend. It was a winner. The burgers are big, juicy, and on soft, toasted buns. The fried veggies were great. The building has lots of local flavor (read kind of old and funky), but was clean. One word of advice, the kid's meals are small. I had to order a set of mini-tycoon burgers to supplement my 6 and 9 year olds' chicken nugget and hamburger kid's meals. I'd say the kid's meals are better for the 3-4 year old crowd. That said, the bill was still only $11/person, including an appetizer. This was a great spot for a meal after a day at the zoo. They also had a better than average selection of draft beers (IPA's, porters, etc.) Too bad I couldn't sample them since I was the driver for the day.

This is a great outdoor casual burgers, fries, and margaritas place. I love sitting out back at the tables under MISTERS (at times with live music) 1. The food is good bar food... it's not an award winning place but the veggie burger was the best I've had in San Antonio 2. It's a cool atmosphere, with outdoor tables, misters, music, etc. 3. The margaritas are tasting but potent! Watch out! 4. And when it's 100 degrees out did I mention the misters?

We went in for an early dinner (around 5pm) - there weren't many people there. I ordered the southwestern chicken panini and had them do half chips and half onion rings on the side. I thought it was delicious - the chicken sandwich was a little spicy (which I like) with lots of yummy flavor, the chips were crunchy and not over-salted and the onion rings were fantastic. My boyfriend ordered the bean burger - unfortunately our sweet but new waitress thought he meant a garden burger so we were a little confused when it arrived. The manager quickly came out and explained that she isn't familiar with a bean burger but they got us a new one quickly but brought him his onion rings and fries to munch on while the fixed it. He said it was a good burger but not the best bean burger in town. The staff was all super friendly and checked in on us.

They allow dogs which is the main reason we went. Plenty of seating available both inside and out with a (very) small playground area for the children. Its a burger joint so ... The burgers were great with a wide variety from the ordinary - I had the Benedict Burger and fries for $12 (1/2 lb with fried egg, Canadian bacon and house-made Hollandaise) that tasted amazing. Plenty of other options on the menu so will definitely be coming back to try some of the others.

I went for a co-workers going away and was enamored with the amazing food. Tycoon Flats has the most wonderful Grilled Cheese soup!!! Their fish tacos are the bomb!!!! Delicious!!! If you get a chance drop in!!!!

Children’s choice after a concert. Seated outside at picnic tables covered with paper. Okay, except that the tables boards were all uneven so tabletop was all different levels. Drinks split at least 4 times. The potato chips (that their famous for) that came with meals were hard and impossible to chew. The tortilla chips were thick and not good (next table said they were the leftover corn tortillas from day before). The hamburgers and French fries were good. Fish tacos were excellent. Onion rings mot worth the calories! The worst part of visit was the waitress. She fluttered around and mumbled terribly. Would have liked a drink but could not understand her between the mask and mumbling in a quite voice over loud music! We gave up. Wish we had her name but she was a dishwater chin length blonde with shorter stature. Please address with your staff to speak louder and to enunciate the their words do customers can have a pleasant visit!

One of the best burgers I’ve had in SA! I had the benedict burger and it did not disappoint. We had the fried veggies as appetizer and they were delicious! Husband had the Philadelphia cheese steak sandwich which was just ok. Frozen margaritas were not great. Frozen mimosa is definitely worth a mention. I’ll be back to try another specialty burger and likely sticking with beer.

We found this joint via other reviews on Trip Advisor and the Burgers, Brew, & ‘Que show. I read some of the reviews and looked at pictures before we ventured down and let me tell you, we are so glad we came for dinner tonight. We’re visiting from the DFW for the weekend and this will be a place we visit next time we come down and we’ll highly recommend! My husband had the feta, cranberry, and candied bacon burger and it was amazing! I couldn’t decide, so our waiter recommended the mini tykes, where you can try 3 different mini burgers. I was worried they would be super small, but they were great size! I had the Mexican burger, Monte Christo, and the honey bbq bacon burger. My favorite was the Monte Christo, it was a perfect combo of all of it. Definitely will be getting it again on our next trip! My husband loved my Mexican burger and it was great! They had fresh guacamole on it and the perfect amount of queso. It’s family friendly and we loved the atmosphere. Staff were great and despite reading some reviews mentioning cleanliness and appearance of establishment, we didn’t see any of that.

We held our daughter's 21st surprise birthday dinner at Tycoon Flats and they couldn't have done a better job! Because of Covid-19 restrictions, there were the only place that would actually let me make reservations AND they have a great outdoor patio for dining. We don't live in the area so we had not been to Tycoon Flats before. Even though it was June and hot, there was ample shade and a lot of fans to move the air around. We were very comfortable! Our server, Neil, was GREAT! We were a group of 25 and he was on it! He was very attentive, kept the drinks coming and got our food order out in the perfect amount of time. He even had to deal with 20 different checks since everyone was paying for their own meals. I had ordered many appetizers for all the tables and they were so tasty and everyone enjoyed trying all the different items. We had plenty of space to move about and visit but were in our own little area. Even though we were sharing the patio with many other people, it still felt like a private area. The cocktails were on point and the food was amazing!!! We could NOT have been more impressed with the place, Neil, the staff, the cocktails, management and the food! Even the prices were great! We will definitely be back, birthday or not!

Make sure you have an appetite when you visit this place. Three out of four co-workers could not finish their food. Good variety of hamburgers, with a special each day of the week. Staff is very friendly and attentive. They also offer a discount for those in the military and the public sector (police, firefighters, etc).

Although it is known as a hamburger joint.....a very good one..., it also has a great weekend breakfast.. Everything from huge omelets to specialties like sweet potato pancakes, there is something for everyone.. They open at 8 AM on he weekends, and there is no wait if you go early.

This place has great burgers. My husband ordered the Mango Fish Tacos and said it was best he had so far! Nikki, our wait staff, was excellent! Super friendly! The place was very busy (was Saturday lunch time) and it’s sooo worth the wait!

Saw the reviews and decided to try this little burger joint. We were not disappointed. They actually make an old fashioned burger and it is delicious. The fries are great but my favorite are the red onion rings. I like a old fashioned cheese burger but some in my bunch opted for the specialty burgers and they were not disappointed. I find the staff to be friendly and the place clean. We will definitely make this one of our weekend go to spots.

This is the place for all three. Well, the music can be hit or miss in a funky Texas atmosphere. Sweet potato fries are a standout. Where else would you get them?

Randomly found this spot on the way to Brackenridge Park. There seems to be an area with several good options and we went with the one with an open parking spot. That was definitely a sign. Breakfast was great. I have to specifically call out the sweet potato pancakes, although the kids loved their waffles too. Service was just great. I looked through the menu and hop to return for a burger, fried pickles and onion rings this week.

Had a couple of great burgers here. Plus our waiter made great local beer recommendations, PLUS many great tips to enjoy our short time in San Antonio - incuding advise on where to get good breakfast tacos.

We had breaded mushrooms as an appetizer and I should have stopped there. I had a pineapple bacon burger that was great but I was so miserably full, even bringing half the burger home. Service wasn't great but food made up for it

Great happy hour specials menu has many options food was very good outside patio seating with small kids area full bar staff very friendly first time here and we will be back

This place was fantastic highly recommend the smoked ribs, mashed potatoes, and vinegar slaw. The atmosphere was excellent and a real no nonsense set up was welcome. Food was fast and delicious! The barbecue was sweet and unique. Great place in Tobin Hill.

My wife and I frequented Tycoon Flats, we knew it as "The Flats" back in the day, in the late '80's, and were actually very surprised to see them still around after so many years. Most of the places we went to on St. Mary's Street are long gone, so them still being open says a lot. We used to party there, but now we eat there, and we had to order an old favorite, beef fajita nachos. They always served them "properly" with the nachos arranged so all got a good helping of "stuff" and not just piled on like you usually get at the ballgame. They are still done that way, and a pretty good bargain for the price. We also both got burgers, the jalapeno bacon version, and they were both very good. The best thing is that they are confident enough in the quality of their beef to serve them medium-rare if you want! Great! The place hasn't changed a ton, but there are more covers now over the outside areas than I remember. It was pretty quiet there on a Thursday evening, so I'm not sure if it turns into a party place still on the weekends. One thing different is that they have obviously become more family friendly, as there is a playground! that was never three before! Overall, still a fun place with good food.

This is a great place to go if you aren't in a hurry. Eat outside in the "flats" area. There were picnic tables and an outdoor play area for the kids. Almost everyone brought their dog (on a leash). There was a 3-man music group on the stage. The food was really tasty, but the service was crazy slow. It may have been a function of the atmosphere - it seemed like people usually hang out there for a long time.

First time visiting Tycoon Flats - my friends and I had great experience. There were a lot of tables outdoor and there was also a playground for kids to play. We chose to sit inside since it was hot during lunch time. I had the Chef’s choice of the day which was a burger with jalapeño and grilled onion. I liked my burger and the sweet potato fries. I also had a vanilla milkshake which came with a caramel sauce and tortilla soup. Everything tasted great! Parking on-site was a bit small but you can also park on the streets. Great & fun spot in downtown. Will visit again For

First time here. I was looking for a specialty burger as I am on Keto. It is a sit yourself location with picnic tables outside and regular tables inside...no booths. High chairs for children and tons of wait staff. We sat down and in about ten minutes a wonderful smiling young lady came and introduced herself as Jackie. She explained the menu and and we described what we wanted. She directed us to the proper section of the menu and we ordered a Bun-less double meat and cheese burger with bacon, avocado, and an egg. Instead of fries, she recommended the grilled vegetables (OMG- DELICIOUS). We order Topo-Chico(mineral water) dressed. Jackie warned us the food would arrive in approximately 40 minutes and if that was okay? We waited. The TV’s were playing Men In Black and UFC fights...my favorites. We were entertained by the TV’s and the different type of clientele from all walks of life. The attire ranged from suits to shorts...everyone is welcome. Then the food came, as promised approximately 40 minutes later. Again, OMG, it was worth the wait. Fresh, hot, and DELICIOUS. The veggies were super good. We left relaxed and HaPpY. Everyone here was laughing and having a Great time. I will be coming back. Very-Very Nice!

A must for burgers! Fried veggies for appetizer was fantastic. Will be back, but with bigger appetite next time.

North St. Mary's street was a hot strip a couple of decades ago. It was THE place for eats and clubbing until a shooting took place and businesses all but dried up along this strip. Tycoon Flats is one of those businesses that survived. Still one of the best places you can go for a dose of the three B's; beer, band and burger. Nice rustic ole restaurant with indoor seating and a good size outdoor patio and beer garden with oak covered picnic tables and a corrugated tin roof stage for the guitar pickers. There are fewer and fewer places like this where you can sit outside and have an ice cold beer in the shade - a place for locals and tourists alike that just slaps you on the back and says "Howdy. Come on in". Service was good with minor prompting. Burgers were served hot and juicy, fries were crispy and hot as well - can't give 'em that extra star though by reason of my pet peeve numero uno - ask for medium and get well done! What a crime! There outta' be a law! 40 lashes for overdone meat; keel haul the cook. Wait! That's for sailors not Texans. String 'em up, drag 'em through cactus! Make 'em listen to Rap and Hip Hop music until they scream! Since I have a wide taste continuum for most food preparations, I put my pet peeve back in its cage and ate the whole burger; and it was good. You can bet that the snarly little beast will claw its way out again the next time I go to a burger joint though.

If you are looking for a burger in Austin, this place is pretty amazing. The balsamic bacon burger is the best I’ve ever had.

We visited Tycoon Flats with a deal from Groupon. I have lived in San Antonio my whole life and had never been. I must say that I was pretty impressed with the quality of the burgers! The burgers were kinda slow coming out, but it was during a busy lunch hour. Taste and quality more than made up for this. We will definitely return in the future.

I've been to TF many times over the years and have found it to be consistantly (comfortably?) mediocre. Sometimes, like last Sunday, they have just plain awesome music and its always fun to meet up after work there especially in the fall and the spring when the weather is just right for sitting outside. But, almost everytime, the food is average at best. Nothing to write home about but not bad enough to type up a few rants online. Our most recent visit brought us out to listen to some great music. There weren't many people there on Sunday night so it kind of felt like our own private concert. The staff was friendly as usual but the food....ahhh the food....there was not more than 20 people there when we arrived and we ordered a simple plate of nachos. What we got was something only slightly better than my 13 year old would slap together in the microwave. I was bummed. The burgers at TF have always been satisfying, there's no crowd to rush the cooks, what happened? When we asked tohe waitress for something to spice things up a bit, she could only NOT recommend the salsa. In her words "she's had tomato sauce spicier than the TF salsa". Great. Oh, well. Lesson learned. Have a drink. Enjoy the many quality musicians who bless the place from time to time, shoot....even enjoy a football game on the TV's spread about....but, be forewarned about the food. Your very often get what you pay for. Keep the expectations to a minimum and let your friends order first. See how things come out and go from there.

We kept driving by Tycoon Flats on the way to our Airbnb and finally decided to stop one evening (after dinner) for a drink. Tucked away on the very last page of their massive menu was desserts. The creme brulee caught my eye, but after having the wait person describe the bread pudding we went with it. When it was first brought out we thought we mistakingly got a double portion--but no it was a single portion. It was warm, delicious, whiskey sauce on the side--almost a meal in itself.

You will never have a better Margarita (fresh squeezed juice) while waiting on a burger.... order it med rare with extra tomato. The margarits are amazing and your burger will cause drippings down your hands AND the onion rings! But seriously, go there and get a margarita first... sit outside and wait to order food.... cause the food comes quickly. Then when you are pleasantly buzzed from 2 margaritas, order your burger and onion rings. You are now an official Tycoon Flats San Antonian.

The burgers at Tycoon Flats are oversized and gooey..leads to soggy bread so eat it quick! The best thing on the menu is the breakfast/brunch items and the nachos. Go for a beer and some nachos. Not particularly healthy but that's the norm for a burger joint. Great location. St Mary's street is popping. Eat at Tycoon flats and continue on down to the I35 overpass...the pillars are painted by local artists. Enjoy!

The best burgers of all time. So many different varieties it'll be hard to make a choice. Sweet potato fries are great too!

Really fun outdoor patio space which would be a lot of fun in the happy hour / evening hours. Service was a little slow. Read a review that they nickel and dime you. That wasn’t the case with us, every single upcharge was clearly laid out in the menu and explained by our server. First, the el diablo Margarita… WOW! Excellent and spicy. Muddled jalapeno, a nice repasado tequila and fresh lime juice made this the best ‘rita we had in san Antonio. Nachos and salsa were good. The burger was cooked to nice medium, a very good ½ pound of meat. The fries were excellent and the onion rings were clearly hand cut and battered – delicious.

This a a long time favorite of San Antonio natives. Sit inside or out. During summertime, go in the evenings. The many electric fans they have keep it comfortable, but wear cool casual clothing. It's always cool on the inside but not as much fun as listening to the local musicians provide a fun set of songs you will know. Singing along is suggested but not mandatory. We sometime dance in cooler weather. A few cold adult beverages make it easier to get on your feet. The margaritas are really really good. I know, everyone says they have the best, but Tycoon really does. They were featured on that Food Network show with a guy named Guy. I did watch it, and they were spot on. The burgers come in a bunch of combinations, so if you like a good burger, they probably have it on the menu. One thing though. Ask for lots of knapkins. They are some juicy burgers. I like it because they have the 16 oz. Lone Star beers, in the can. Seems like the thing to do while enjoying some real Texas casual fun. It's easy to find if you can get to St. Mary's street. It's just north of downtown, and a short cab ride if you don't feel like driving. We usually show up with several friends, and sometimes just the two of us. It's a fun place to sit and visit with whoever shows up at the large picknik tables.

This place by far has the best burgers in San Antonio! Went there on the spur of the moment and was not disappointed!!! The ambiance was great and they had live music! I tried the Flatsburger which was so delicious that I was craving it for weeks there after!! My boyfriend has the Mexican burger which he loved! We have returned and introduced Tycoon Flats to many people! The only thing that I dislike about this place is the service which does not live up to the food. But other than that, which I hope they change, I do enjoy the food and the people and music!

Just go to Mad Macks for a burger, they have about 6 things on the menu that blow this place away. This place has a menu that's all over the place. Some people love to have their burgers with all kinds of special stuff, which is okay, I found it just a little too much. The burgers were good, not medium rare, or medium as were ordered, more well done. Spending almost Hard Rock prices for a burger at close to $15.00 I'd expect it cooked as ordered, not well done. Service was friendly, however mediocre. Got my order wrong then really took too long to return to our table. I was really close to walking up front to request our check. Over an hour in a burger joint is too long for four people. Fried pickles were fair to poor, however the red onion rings were good. Overall it was a fair experience, probably won't be back.

We were searching for a quick lunch spot and found Tycoon Flats and were eager to try the fun (burger based) menu. They have easy substitutions like turkey burgers or veggie burgers or even grilled chicken-but it seems they are known for their burgers. The place itself is nothing fancy, but our server was friendly and the food was outstanding! We tried the fried avocado (turkey) burger and a regular cheeseburger- everyone was happy. They have lots of specials and a big drink menu. Definitely worth a stop!!

I so badly wanted to like this place. They have real onion rings and enough burger choices to accomodate anyone, including a bean burger for the vegetarians that do not like Impossible or Beyond burgers. Sadly, our excitment stopped here. Mostly this is an outdoor place. I have no proble with that, but upon check in, we were not welcomed nor did we seem wanted. We asked for inside and were taken to this small room. The menus were given to us and we sat whie people walked around ignoring us. When we got served, the waiter was kind. Our order was taken and the food came quick. The meat had no seasoning, so the burgers were nothing special. There was no seasoning in the batter of the onion rings, fried pickles or salt on the homemade chips. Sadly, all 6 of us felt sick within a coupe hours of eating here, with 1 person vomitting. That was all we ate that day, so we are pretty sure that it was the food. The bathrooms were clean but tiny. 6 burgers, 4 sodas was $150.00

7 of us for a Saturday night birthday dinner. J.R. was our server & we couldn't have asked for better. Very attentive, good suggestions. The burgers are huge, fresh ingredients & definitely not ordinary. Had desserts & each could feed 2-4 adults. We live 30+ miles away and can't wait to try it again.

Fun atmosphere, good service and the burgers were prepared to order. The daily specials looked great as well. We will be back the next to we are in town.

This was our first time at Tycoon Flats. Unfortunately it will probably be our last. Wow the food was okay the service was extremely slow In fact while we were there two families were never served and walked out the food is not good enough for the extreme wait. There are definitely better burger places in San Antonio.

We went for Sunday early lunch. There were 10 of us. 1st family of 3 ordered their food; the 2nd family ordered; 3rd family ordered; and 4th family ordered. 3rd family received their order, 4th family received their order. and then no-one else did. Finally 1 order from the other 2 familes arrived. Everyone else had already finished their meal, and when we asked where our food was we were told they had a new kitchen manager who had medded up the orders. Was then told the manager would be out to apologize etc.. He never came and neither did our food.

This is not "your parents" Tycoon Flats. What I mean by that is that they've changed from what they did 10-15 years ago. The beef, although it is high quality beef, is either not seasoned or not seasoned enough. A decade or so ago the seasoning of the beef was excellent. Now it's bland angus beef. Also, you no longer walk up and order. There is now a wait staff. Dont' get me wrong. The wait staff is pretty good but it's an added cost when you add in a tip. A basic cheeseburger with fries and a drink will cost you approx $13 when you add in the tip. Sorry, but it's not worth it.

The Saint Mary's District is an up and coming area of San Antonio, about 20 blocks from downtown on a road that leads to the zoo and Brackenridge Park. There are several clubs featuring an upscale menu and live music/entertainment. Tycoon Flats "where everyone is a Tycoon" sports a large covered beer garden with stage and picnic style seating, more than a dozen craft beers on Tap, and live music most nights. This place would have fit in perfectly in Portland Oregon, or even Austin. Menu is mainly burgers (a couple of vegetarian choices) and some salads. Big 1/2 pound of lean beef type burgers with home made chips or fries, your choice of regular or sweet potato. Entrees ranged from 8.95-14, beer had lots of weekday and happy hour specials. Everyone was happy to be there, and left smiling. Service was above average for San Antonio.

A friend took me that had never been before and let me tell you!!! The Gouda Burger was delicious and juicy!I had mine with the sweet potato fries. He had the homemade chips. We both cleaned our plates. WOW! It is also child and dog friendly!

If the weather's nice, do go out on the patio. Great burgers, sandwiches and sides; live music (weekends) and friendly vibes. Good place to meet your friends, or maybe make new ones at the community picnic tables. Kid-friendly, too, with games and playground.

We went for dinner before a game and left full and very satisfied. Started off with the fried veggies appetizer. Had a good variety and not too greasy for a fried dish. My wife ordered the mini sliders as did our friend while I got the fish tacos. All were very good and would recommend ordering any of them. Service here was great too. This place has indoor seating and a small kids area outside too. In the evenings they usually have a live band playing too. Good place to grab a beer and burger on the St.Marys strip. The only recommendation I would have is to put up something outside to try and keep the flies away a bit more. It wasn't a particularly hot or humid day but for some reason there were quite a lot. Besides that, we will definitely visit again.

I feel this place has really gone down hill.

My wife and I have tried numerous hamburger joints here in San Antonio but have not found one that we really really really liked. We had not been to Tycoon Flats in about 10 years or more. After watching on TV about burger places in the US and different styles of burgers we decided to try Tycoon Flats. We were not disappointed they have numerous specialty burgers that are all 1/2 pound. My wife had the pineapple bacon burger. Beautiful Burger to look at and of course taste just as good as it looks! I had the fried green apple blue cheese and bacon burger same thing looks and tastes just as good as it looks. Service was outstanding by our waiter Joe very friendly no rush and actually suggested some of the burgers. We also had the crispy red onion onion rings and my burger came with sweet potato fries which were just delicious. Can't wait to come back and try the other burgers on the menu.

Going out to dinner on Friday night! We were both hungry for hamburgers. I had originally chosen another hamburger restaurant. Driving there I realized there was a concert that night and parking was not good. Sooo my second choice was Tycoon Flats!!!! All I know is they changed the men and it was awesome!!!! The fries are really good too!!! I can't wait to go back to try a different Burger! They were busy and we had to wait but it was sooo worth it. Go ck. it out!!! Make sure you tell them how you want your meat cooked.

Delicious handmade burgers! Had the mexican burger. It was very good. Had lots of pico and guacamole but the burger was so big you could still taste the meat. I ordered mine med rare and it came out med. it was still flavorful and juicy. Depending on your appetite they are good for sharing bc of their size. The sweet potato fries and fried pickles were also a good choice. Has lots of outdoor seating and a bar outside. Seemed there was more seating outside then inside.

This is the place to go if your looking for some good burgers & hot dogs & ice cold beverages, tycoon flats has it all good music were you & your friends can enjoy good times.

The good? Outstanding selection of burgers, both unique and classic, and a good drink menu to boot! The less than appealing? Overcrowded and the kids were so close to the seating that when they threw playground rubber pieces, innocent and unexpecting patrons suffered the fallout! This overcrowding created stress on the limited staff, who seemed to work on overdrive to keep these large groups and families unsuccessfully happy. The vanilla vodka mango smoothie and the sangria were fantastic. Sweet potato fries were delish!!! Good quality burgers, a little above average as far as meat and arrangement. They were very slow on the hot wings, and they cited a 'glitch' in the point of sale system as a reason to forget one burger, serving two of our 8 patrons approximate 20 minutes AFTER we received the other 6 entrees and another 5 minutes to bring out the onion rings. I believe this was due to staff being overwhelmed and overworked. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed with only 2-3 waitstaff. I never complained, but I ordered a Carlisle plate with the stuffed patty with blue cheese and smoked applewood bacon. I bit into the burger patty only to find it was jalapeño and cheddar. After all of the delays and mess ups, I just ate this spicy selection without further delays. The thing I really dislike about the experience was a couple of corporate beer sales folks working for one of the major distributors was ALLOWED to walk in and offer free Miller Light, interrupting our family. The free beer was cheap bad beer and the gesture was an attempt to lure true beer aficionados away from local craft beers. The miller light duo (not employed by the restaurant) apparently have an agreement with the owner. Unfortunately, they tried to give my 15yo son a free beer. Although an accident, I find this to be an epic fail! I may recommend this place to people with loud kids who need to get away but it's a bit overcrowded and overworked for my tastes, both of which lead to unnecessary mistakes. Probably not a repeat.

The signature burger is awesome. The sauce is the best sauce ever. Lots of beers on tap and more available in bottles or cans. Great patio seating. Love this place.

Title says it all. Had a to go order for a family member. Got home and the burger has no buns. Pathetic. How does that happen?

I loved the beer selection here and all the food was so fresh. We had fried pickles, and they taste like they pickle their own cucumbers in house; so fresh!

Many great choices on the menu. Daily burger specials. Many beers on tap plus full outside bar. My favorite is the Greek burger on a bun with onion rings. The sweet potato fries are hard to say no to. We have eaten there many times and never been disappointed.

Fun outdoor dining that is totally dog friendly ... which is really all I need!!! But the burgers were great, too! Service is OK. Wish they had a better draft beer selection (see: The Cove).

First tme visiting this place. Definitely lack of staff. Indoors is nice, but drinks take an eternity. My draft beer in a frozen mug took about 12 mins to arrive and it was warm. Food is taking waylonger than exected. Debating if paying for the drinks and go elsewhere. Not impressed at all. Their site mentioned live music; there is no live music.

A burger place wasn't what I had in mind today..thinking sushi but with th power outages we had to rethink lunch. Hubby had a burger and ring and I a sald. Both were excellent as was the service.

We were looking for a place to eat close to the zoo and luckily ran across this place! We got the Mexican burger which was pretty delicious. I am not a fan of sweet potato fries in general, but their regular fries were great! We went on a Monday afternoon and there was plenty of space in their outside seating area which is pretty awesome. I imagine this is the happenin' place when the weekend rolls around!

The service was terrible! A meal that should have lasted an hour or less lasted 2 1/2 hours because we had to keep flagging down waitstaff. We were not in any hurry, but it was annoying to be completely ignored. Them the bill was wrong at the end. Sigh... The bathrooms were very unsanitary. One bathroom had a clogged toilet. The other bathroom was missing the drain cover in the floor. There was a hole that was around 3 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep. That is a disaster waiting to happen for anyone wearing heels. The food was good. However, after seeing the restrooms, I'm not too sure about the kitchen. I will not go back. Ever.

The burgers here are fantastic. My favorite so far has been the Monte Cristo Burger and the Benedict Burger. The menu has a wide range of burgers that are unique, but so tasty! However, what I was most impressed by was their Bacon Creme Brûlée. I tried it out of curiosity and was not disappointed. You wouldn’t think they would go well, but the Bacon is candied, so it’s a sweet flavor mixed in with the creaminess that was so good everyone at the table tried it and loved it too. Give it a try!

Went for lunch today had a jalapeno bacon cheese burger and my wife has the old fashioned cheeseburger both very very good will come again, also for dessert the peach cobbler ala mode is a must-have

The food here is pretty good, not mind-blowing but you can count on decent food. The building is cool- it's kind of got a worn look on the outside (in a good way) and the patio is a nice place to sit when the weather is good. It has an original feel, like it's unique (NOT like a chain restaurant at all) and small (but not too small where it's cramped) and it also feels pretty relaxed and down-to-earth.

Eric our waiter was great- knowledgeable, friendly, efficient and even shared a personal talent by crocheting coasters . Definitely a fabulous representative of Tycoon Flats. Everyone loved their food - high quality burgers and fish tacos!

Walked in with a group and were happy about how tasty the Bloody Mary's and Margarita's are. Just avoid the sangria ;) The fish tacos were good and filling.

Terrific hamburgers and outstanding onion rings accompanied by very attentive, friendly and helpful service made for a very pleasant evening meal.

Good variety of burger choices. They all looked terrific. It was also fun to dine outside. Very good food!

When you see the parking lot full of local cars you know it’s Good. Fish taco’s and bloody Mary’s very good. Should have gone back there the second nite instead of Auggies.

Our group of 10 loved this place! It looked like a total dive from the street and we weren’t sure they would have enough seating but based on the reviews we took a chance. Their outdoor seating area was great. Temperature was great even though it was approaching 90+ degrees outside. Shade, shelters and fans made it quite pleasant! Best burger I have ever had! Oh and you have to try their fried pickles too!!

We initially came here for lunch on 04.16.2016 but arrived 30 minutes too early, so we settled for breakfast. Breakfast is VERY good! The food was so delicious, we decided to come back the next day for lunch and boy, was it worth it! Stuffed burgers is the way to go. Mushroom and Swiss with grilled onions and a side of fries. We will definitely be back!

Tried the bacon, blue cheese, and fried apple burger today and, just WOW! I would've never thought an apple would taste so good on a burger! Completely life changing! I want to try the hummus burger next time I visit.

My family and I went there looking for a dog friendly casual dining restaurant. This was a perfect pick. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had a turkey burger and others in the party had a beef burger and fish tacos. All the food was excellent and filling. We sat on the patio and several persons had their pups with them. There is a play area for children. I would go back there any day.

Wow the fish tacos were some of the best I have ever had. Service was also great. The sweet tea keeps coming. To quote Arnold ..... " I'LL BE BACK".

This was my second visit to this eatery. It is convenient if you are looking for a post game meal from many of the colleges in the area. Burgers were good and we all liked the margaritas. Have a decent beer selection as well. Service could be a little more attentive. Had a little hiccup as some of our party wanted a peach cobbler but the waitress informed us the kitchen had closed in spite of having mentioned a desire of ordering earlier. It would have been nice if she had said any last requests due to the kitchen about to close. Otherwise would recommend this restaurant as everyone was happy with their meals.

Tycoon Flats is a N. St. Mary's classic that's been around for a few decades. And it's easy to see why. A classic Texas bar set up. There's some seating inside, but that's not where you'll want to be. Outside, there are many tables (some picnic tables, some round tables), an outdoor bar (lots of Texas beers, margaritas, frozen drinks), TVs playing sports, and fans. So walk over, grab a table outside, and order your favorite drink and a burger. Simple, classic, and really satisfying.

Juicy burgers, good beer selection, decent live music on the patio, service is alrightish, consistency is lacking. Sometimes when I go I get good quality food, sometimes I go and the food isn't the best. Example: I love fried pickles. The first time I had them at Flats they were great, the second time I ordered them, they were soggy and gross. Not a bad place to go for happy hour if you're nearby though.

This place is just about as "local" as you can get! We went there for lunch last week after a friend told us about there great burgers. We were not disappointed! The burgers were thick, juicy, and full of flavor! We also had the fried pickles. They were a little different from your normal, run-of-the-mill fried pickle in that they had a slight sweetness to them. They were great, though! The only draw back to the place is that they have signs all over warning you to lock your car, hide your valuables, etc. So, as a woman, I probably wouldn't go there alone at night. It was fine for my husband, son, and I for a mid-week lunch though. I didn't feel unsafe until I read the signs, but even afterward (when I started looking around more), everything was okay. Bottom line: great food, friendly service, nice "local" feel, but maybe check your surroundings if you go there, especially at night).

On N. St. Mary's this burger joint is handy so I go there often. Not much choice in food -- I recommend the hamburgers and the chalupas. Good place for a late dinner with wine or beer. Service is very friendly. My friend and I usually sit inside, but for larger groups there are big picnic tables outside (very rustic). When there is live music outside it can be very loud.

I think the worst food I've ever eaten! Have no idea how they made it onto the Food Channel. No flavor. Dry, rubbery, frozen burgers. We ordered the mixed fries, (regular & sweet potato), there were literally 3 sweet potato fries. Melissa, our server, said she would bring out another order they never came. SO SLOW!!!!! Bad attitudes! One of the servers was walking by with a pitcher of tea so my dad asked if he could get some, because our server Melissa didn't keep up with our table, she rolled her eyes flung the pitcher toward the cup and when she did it spilled all over the table and on my leg! We asked for the magnager, he did the PC thing and apologized. Not sure if he really talked to her but whatever! NEVER GOING BACK. Do yourself a favor and just don't go.

Recently found out that Tycoon Flats serves breakfast/brunch on weekends, so we gave it a try. Nice variety on the menu. The sweet potato pancakes are quite good -- not too sweet, and you can actually taste the sweet potato! The eggs benedict was likewise respectable, with a tangy hollandaise. Also, you can select your own fillings (3) for your omelet. Note: the breakfast service is not reflected on the website. Hours are 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Try the mini's and mix it up a bit! The Mexican burger is amazing! The Piggy is also very good. Fries are traditional and tasty and a great selection of local craft brews.

This is a great restaurant with fantastic selection of hamburgers some seafood in Greek fries. Highly recommend this restaurant it’s affordable.

Second visit to Tycoon flats; had to come back to try the Monday special; Trinity Burger – ½ lb patty, cheddar cheese, fried egg, topped with chicken fried bacon. It was tasty, not as good as the Greek Burger I had on my first visit, but good. Greek Burger - ½ lb patty, Kalamata olives, tomato and Greek mayo on sourdough bun. Yummy…. Well let’s just say it was fantastikós!! Back to the Trinity Burger; the Chicken fried bacon sounds better than it really is; bacon didn’t seem like it was cooked before being deep fried. Which just means it was soggy/floppy once you got past the chicken fried batter. But the special is a great deal; burger, fries and a drink for $10!! That’s really hard to beat when most of their burgers alone are $12 and over. But overall Tycoon Flat’s burgers are really good. Tycoon flats has worked its way into my weekly rotation; I’ve been in San Antonio on and off since Oct working out a Lackland. So we eat out a lot. Seems like Tycoon Flats would have a great atmosphere out back at night; nice size bar and selection of beer and even wine from Austin on tap. You shouldn’t miss a visit to Tycoon Flats.

A week before I had visited and had a really good experience, including the food, parking and beverages. My only complaint last visit would probably be the fries...what a disappointment. SO much creativity goes into the burgers and the frozen fries are barely an after thought (get the chips, if you don't want to pay for an upgrade or I'm told the sweet potato fries are really good) My burger was way undercooked, the chips tasted like the grease hadn't been changed in awhile and my first beer was flat. I don't know! It's really close to where I'm staying, so I really want to like it...but it just doesn't seem to be very consistent.

We've lived in town for almost three years and we've never been. So one Sunday afternoon in February 2012, we decided to try it for lunch. We actually drove there from downtown and we took St. Mary's from downtown. Not exactly a scenic drive... The area where the restaurant is located has a few other restaurants and bars. I think that is why there are signs telling people to lock their cars. But seeing as there are many places in San Antonio with these signs, I wouldn't worry too much unless you're going to leave valuables in your car, in plain sight. We were actually surprised at how vibrant the area was during an early Sunday afternoon. We sat inside as it was a bit too "kiddy happy" outside on the patio. Our server was a sweet young girl and she made lots of suggestions when we asked. We both eventually settled on getting the burgers since they are supposed to be a specialty of the house. Our burgers came out pretty quickly. The buns looked bakery fresh and the meat was nice and juicy. We thought at first they were a little on the small side but once we finished the burger and fries, we were stuffed. We would definitely go back and that's saying something since there are a ton of burger places in San Antonio.

I order my hamburger well done, BEST hamburger I have ever eaten. Served on a warm kaiser bun, with pickles chopped onions mayo I passed on the mayo mustard and . Very juicy and very flavorful!!! I will definitely be back and I'm telling everyone about it

This place is gem! The bar area, kid area, trees, lights, drinks, food, ambiance is awesome! Just a great place to go to on a normal basis or to take friends/family when they’re in town. Great job TF!!

We went there to meet family. The restaurant had plenty of space for large parties. The burgers and hot dogs were good. Nice margarita's. Service was great.

Our grandson's choice of where he wanted us to celebrate his college graduation and what a great choice it was. Our little group sat outside on their extensive patio. Patrons wore their COVID masks until they arrived at their "table of safety" while employees all wore masks. Great selection of beverages/craft beer. My grandson and I particularly enjoyed their Vanilla Thriller (Absolut Vanilla Vodka with mango). As for the food, we all ordered the burgers and they were huge! 1/2 pound of burger with many choices for toppings. The Fried Apple, Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger was excellent. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable. Would not hesitate to go there again. Restaurant is both family and dog friendly.

Husband brought myself and our three kids here after a full day at the Doseum. We have 3 small children who don't eat huge portions but we're hungry from going all day. Fried pickles for an appetizer, which was edible but swimming in oil. Shared a burger with my daughter which was okay but SA has plenty of spots with much better burgers. Son had chicken fingers which were burnt and not edible. Son was starving so he needed up eating my half of the burger since everything took so long, they were NOT busy at all. First they offered to remake the chicken fingers but then came back and said they would end up the same, that's how they are supposed to look. If that is true than the oil they were using to fry was old and needed replacing. Sever only offered to take the meal off the bill when I suggested it. Usually when there is such a problem you would get a manager visit, that never happened. Cold beer was the highlight.

I went here and ordered a stuff burger with blue cheese and smoked bacon and it was fantastic! It was a little messy but the mess was well worth it. I also ordered a cherry vodka shake and that too was really good. You could taste the ground up cherries really well and barely taste the alcohol. Overall I would come back here to try another burger from their large menu.

Went here with a few friends for brunch. Had some mimosas with brunch, it was pretty good. I'm not accustomed to their hash browns, but I really liked them! Super crunchy! Service was great, the server was nice enough to accommodate our of the menu order. The atmosphere is cozy, we sat outside on the bench seats. There is a small play area for kids, and they allow dogs. It's all very welcoming and friendly!

Was in SA for work for a few months & thank goodness a friend told me about Tycoon Flats. I am a burger fanatic and this place is now in my all time top 3 list. The Bacon balsamic bleu burger will blow your mind. The fries were just ok so I always substituted grilled veggies that were amazing!! The beer garden atmosphere is lovely & they have the greatest live music. Its a great place for a date, friends night out or a family dinner. Sitting outside really is where its at. So if bad weather go for the food but the atmosphere is all about the beer garden.

Boy did Flats nail it (big time) with their "smoked salmon eggs Benedict". We beat the church crowd for Sunday brunch this past weekend...what a great breakfast...apple smoked bacon...really GOOD coffee and our waiter, Tim, could not have been more helpful. Flats hits the mark on good and fun dining right in the new hot area of San Antonio. Keep up the good work, guys. We loved it and I'm still talking about it today!!!

Have a great selection of burgers and drinks. Indoor and outdoor seating. Wide selection of alcohol.

We had really good service! I loved the blue burger and we ordered the mini burgers and tried three different ones, enjoyed the sweet potato fries as well.

Great remodel!!! Campy, cozy and clean! The burgers and salads are great! I'd definitely recommend the Juicy Lucy!

Tycoon Flats has great food, great drink specials, and a great patio with live music on occasion. The restaurant is located close to several dive bars that are very popular with the locals. The parking lot is very small so you might have to park across the street or in the street itself. The customer service is quick and everyone is very friendly.

We went to Tycoon Flats for brunch. The food was delicious and the drinks and service were great. We sat outside in the garden and it was absolutely delightful. There were 4 of us and the other 3 folks had never been there before. They were really happy with everything, especially the great service.

The four of us stopped at Tycoon Flats on Saturday, March 4, 2017 for a late lunch after visiting Alamo Beer Company. My wife ordered the Fried Avocado Burger which was a 1/2 lb burger with pepperjack cheese, hand battered avocado slices, poblano ranch, tortilla strips, and lettuce and tomato. I had a bite of her burger and it was VERY GOOD!! You could taste the creaminess of the avocado, the crunch of the tortilla strips, and a little bit of kick from the poblano ranch. Our daughter had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and our son enjoyed his Mini-Tyke slider. It was a toss up for me. I couldn't decide whether I wanted the Bacon Balsamic Blue Burger which was a 1/2 lb burger with grilled onions, blue cheese, Applewood Smoked Bacon, lettuce, tomato & balsamic vinaigrette; or the Mexican Burger which was a 1/2 lb burger with Flats Queso, fresh guacamole & fresh pico de gallo. I decided to go with the Mexican Burger, and I was not disappointed! I sliced my burger in half to enjoy it, and I will say that it appeared that one half had much more queso than the other; however, I enjoyed it completely. I ordered my hamburger medium well and it had a nice crunch (from the crust that formed on it from the grill) to it. The guacamole was some of the BEST restaurant made guacamole that I've ever eaten!! Many times, restaurants will try "fancy" add-ons but this tasted like it was simply made, but just as delicious as anything that I've ever had!! It was a DELICIOUS hamburger!! And I will add that our waiter, Ryan, was SUPERB!!! Ryan was continuously checking on our needs, replenishing our drinks as needed with no prompting by us. Towards the end of our meal, Ryan came to the table and sat down and explained to us that there had been a mix-up in tickets. The couple next to our table received our bill and paid for it and left before anyone noticed it. To our advantage, the bill that we received was slightly less than our "original" bill. However, we tipped on what would have been our original bill and felt that Ryan was proactive in communicating this to us. He did the right thing (in our minds), but there are too many times where the wait staff would have waited until the guests / customers would have brought it to our attention. It's happened before and I'm sure it'll happen again. But not in this situation. Ryan was FANTASTIC!!

I sat outside in this heat but they have fans with mist outside by the bar and tables, it wasn't that hot. The drinks and burgers were perfect. Pet friendly on the patio as well.

The patio is a great place to unwind after work or on the weekend. They have excellent frozen margaritas. The burgers are outstanding. The one with their signature sauce is my favorite. That sauce is AWESOME! Their wait staff works hard to make your visit perfect. Oh and the nachos!!!!

I was looking for a burger and a beer, so I asked my phone to help me out...after reading the reviews and checking out the menu options, I was off to see what all the hoopla was about! If you like burgers and beer you will not be disappointed! It's in a cramped little building with minimal parking and signs that state "NOT responsible for damage or theft" I was a little leery, but there was still plenty of daylight left, so I took a chance. Inside there is minimal seating, but they also have outdoor seating, and I'm sure on a nice weekend this place is standing room only! My server (656) was ok, it started out well, but after he took my order he was MIA for quite some time. My beer was empty and it was still happy hour. But let's talk about the burger because it was "Memorable"! The savory feta aioli paired with the ever so slightly bitter you get with cranberry and then the icing on the cake "CANDIED BACON" (OMG!) My burger was cooked perfectly, a grilled char on the outside with a nice pink on the inside. It truly does not get any better, the bread was fresh and soft and the toppings were plentiful. I also tried a couple of local IPA's, there is a respectable selection of drafts, bottled, canned beers, margaritas and wine. I will definitely come here again and would (and have already) recommend "Flats" (as locals call it) to anyone who will listen!

O. M. G. Y'all. Omg. Too tasty for words. I don't even really like burgers and was initially disappointed that that was their main menu items after the hubs picked this place. Trust the hubs, grasshopper. For he is following the wisdom of his superior stomach. So much tasty-ness. If you don't find yourself in a another dimension of reality after consuming their amazing creations, you truly need to get your taste buds checked, man. Oh- and order that elevated margarita. It's obviously potent though, (as evidenced by this post-margarita review) but oh so tasty. So. Tasty. I had the Specialty Mini-Tykes- piggy piggy, balsamic, and my favorite, caramelized bacon, with mixed sweet-potato/shoestring fries and our starter was the AMAZING julienne fried pickles with homemade tangy ranch. Nom nom nom. I will return for you, Tycoon Flats. ✌🏻👊🏻

I couldn't believe this place has been here 30 yrs and I missed it?? No more Chris Madrid's.... So nice to go to a great burger place near downtown where you don't need to stand in line for service. 1/2 lbs burgers are fresh and juicy. The service is excellent!! You don't need to wait in line to get a tea refill. It is worth the trip just for the onion rings, thin lightly battered, red onions.

My wife and I stopped by last Saturday to have a drink and a burger on a nice day. We don't expect much at these outdoor hamburger places so it's almost impossible to upset us, but Tycoon Flats did. The service was very slow (big deal, we weren't in a hurry) and the food was okay. What is totally unacceptable is when the waitress pads the bill. She told us that switching out fries to sweet potato fries was .65 cents. She hosed us for $4.65. I asked for a floater of vodka on top of my bloody mary. This is usually an extra buck or two. She charged us $6.50 for a floater which is the price of a full drink. I stiffed her and will never return.

We heard several reviews of this place so we decided to give it a try. This place, in my opinion does not offer anything out of the ordinary from any other burger joint, with the exception of the outdoor patio and outdoor bar. I feel that the burgers at Armadillo's in San Antonio are a bit tastier.

Best burgers my whole party had ever had! The onion rings were just ok. Also the service was fantastic!

we found this restaurant on our first night in San Antonio while we were driving around..You knew by the parking lot that the locals love this place..The bloody mary was excellent ..I had fish taco's and they were very good Prices very reasonable with a kids playing area

We went Friday at 7. We wish we had gotten there sooner for the happy hour. They have a lot of great Texas beers on draft. Tuesday they have them on special. They also have daily burger specials which include a drink and fries for about $9. Their signature 1/2lb burger has a really good sauce which is sautéed onion garlic and peppers pulverized. Most of their specialty burgers with fries is about $10 if it's not the special. We sat inside and were constantly fighting the flies and gnats. If you sit outside maybe there's not such an issue because they have fans and misters. The band was really good. As we were leaving it was packed.

This place is hip and trendy no matter what. Cool laid back servers and damn good homemade food. The beer selection is awesome and so if the food menu. The food is consistent and really good. I don't think I've had anything here that blew my socks off but I've never been disappointed either, solid place.

My friend and I stopped by last sunday to have a drink and a burger on a nice day. We don't expect much at these outdoor hamburger places so it's almost impossible to upset us, but Tycoon Flats did. The service was very slow (big deal, we weren't in a hurry) and the food was just Okay . I will never return.

We called ahead to make sure they were showing our fooball game and they put it on one of their many TV's. They have a great selection of craft and "normal" beers; on tap and canned/bottled. Great menu with appitizers, burgers, wings, and sandwiches. I cannot tell you everything on the menu, I stopped at the burgers. Some of them are huge and fancy and expensive. Turn the page and find some smaller, lower priced burgers. I stopped on the second page, ordered a Jalepeno bacon cheeze 1/3 pound burger and was quite happy. Out door environment, friendly and efficient waitstaff. $50 for a lunch including 3 beers and tip.

Everyone raves about the burgers but I tried the breakfast for the first time last weekend and I’m definitely a fan. Everything was fresh, delicious and plentiful. The owner personally came out to ask how our meal and service was. He was working right alongside his employees who all seemed happy and served all the tables promptly and attentively. There’s live music in the evening. On Saturdays there’s Sangria ans Sundays feature Frozen Margaritas and Titian Bloody Mary’s. Definitely a place off the tourist trap to bring friends and visitors. Awesome place for a Girls night or dinner with the family.

We wandered into Tycoon Flats because the restaurant across the street was too busy. It wasn't very busy, it was an early Sunday afternoon. The waitress was nice and got to us quickly. We ordered the fried pickles as a starter and the first bite I took was a shock to my mouth. They had a very greasy vinegary taste, they tasted like my grandmas homemade pickles. You could actually still taste the cucumber in them. With the shock of the first bite I didn't think I was going to like them, but I did, after the initial shock, they were actually pretty good! That's when the good stopped. The burgers came, we had the Bean Burger and the Flat Burger. I was really looking forward to a good burger and I was hugely disappointed. The burger was actually RAW in some places, but when I cut it in fours to make sure it wasn't raw throughout, I saw that it was just in some places in and around the burger. It grossed me out (it was RAW not pink, I know the difference) but I didn't want to be a pain and complain, so I just forked out the raw stuff and ate some of the rest. The burger was flavored weird, and I just didn't enjoy it. My partner, who is a HUGE burger fan, didn't even eat half of hers. We both agreed... they were gross. The french fries were ok, but way too greasy and the onion rings were good but way too greasy too. All in all...aside from the Fried Pickles, it wasn't a good experience. We've written this on our "not again" list. All this being said.... they told us its big for the drinks, beer and live music. Which leads me to believe that most people are drunk when eating... and we all know that drinking makes anything taste better. Too bad I was sober.

We absolutely loved Tycoon Flats! The outside seating area was pleasant and the live music a bonus! The burgers were great...If you've never been before, I would highly recommend their plate with three sliders on it so that you get to taste three different burgers! My favorite was the Bacon Balsamic Bleu and my wife loved the Greek...my daughter loved her burgers as well. Margaritas served in mason jars and they were fantastic (on the rocks)!

Read all the reviews on here and yelp so I thought I’d try it out. The beer garden is cool you can bring your dog if you want and it’s cool to chill with friends. They also have a good selection of draft beers and TVs outside so that’s a plus. Food is good but overall, nothing to brag about.

If you want a burger, then this is the place to go! Order the Tykes, which is your choice of 3 sliders. Choose from any of the specialty burgers. I enjoyed all 3 of my choices. Sweet potato fries are great. The chips and salsa are simply but delicious. Unique laid back environment. You seat yourself and the server comes to you! Severs are very laid back but efficient at their jobs. Priced well. Great quality.

Overall we really liked this place! We had a burger and fries, which was good. The atmosphere is charming. Friendly service. We had our dogs with us... Would have been a nice touch if they had offered them water. Some problems with the flies once our food came out.

Our first visit to Tycoon Flats and it was awesome. The onion rings were a great start with a beer and the burgers were out if this world. The environment is casual and fun. Out grandson loved it. We will definitely be back soo

This was the most amazing food I've had in all of our Texas travels ,the burgers are the most amazing flavors I've ever experienced, the food the staff the cleanliness the ambulance is just wonderful ...we started with fried pickles that's there own creation then we had margaritas that were scratch made with fresh limes through a juicer best ever but when we got our cherry vodka pineapple topped burger a was blown away ...This place is just the best we traveled 65 miles and so worth it ...the wait staff was the best we have had forever...highly recommended to go out of your way and come hungry and try this ...I can't wait to come back ...

Excellent service, delicious Monte Cristo burger, pleasant atmosphere ! The fried mushrooms were to die for as well as the onion rings!

Decided to drop in for a burger and let the kids run around. It was quiet on Sunday afternoon and waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Last time we were here was a Friday night and they had a band playing Jimmy Buffett cover tunes. We chose a table inside because of the heat, although they had plenty of fans and misters going in the court yard to keep you cool along with the outdoor bar. The kids played in the play area, which consists of a play castle and wood chips, which is enough for their imaginations. We got kids burgers and nuggets for them and we got the Mexican and Flats burgers. The kids meals are a little plain, but our burgers were great. The prices are good and the ambiance is funky and fun for kids. It is even better when the band is there. Parking can be tricky when the lot is full, but you roll the dice any time you choose to eat downtown and surrounding areas. It definitely is a nice alternative to chain restaurants if that is what you are going for.

Walked over to local place for evening drinks. Many families and groups eating inside and outdoor patio. Sat at sticky wooden picnic table with bench. Rushed server.

Such a great atmosphere with the option to eat indoors or out. We chose to sit outdoors at a picnic table and they have misters and fans so it was not terrible even in June. Our waiter was so great helping us choose a burger and even checking to see if they could make the Wednesday special even though it was Saturday (they did). I was working on eating a little healthier and indicated I did not want the fries or chips and he also offered a side salad instead. Everything was good and there was no food left on the table (except my salad because I was stuffed). If you love a great burger this place is a winner!

My title says it all. Good service. Had fish tacos and coffee for $13. Got quite busy over lunchtime but there was no line waiting. I'll go back

We were brought by a local...pricey burgers. Should have stayed down town. Outdoor setting was charming. Lots of local breer on tap.Waiter would not allow us to leave bbq sauce off burger so a little too inflexible for our group.

I have lived in San Antonio my entire life and had never eaten at Tycoon Flats until a few days ago when my boyfriend and I decided to have an early dinner "somewhere new". His family had highly recommended this restaurant when they came in from out of town, so we decided why not try it? We went on a Monday evening around 5:30pm, and it was great! We sat in the open patio outside and started with the chips and salsa along with a frozen margarita. The salsa was spicy and tasty with perfectly thick chips for dipping, and the margarita was not too sweet; made perfectly! We both ordered hamburgers, which came out made to perfection and fries just as delicious to compliment. Overall, the food is awesome, the atmosphere is very laid back and some would call it a "hole in the wall", but it definitely has the food and service to make it an establishment worth coming back to! Can't wait to try it on a live music night!

Excellent food, along with the ability to sit outside with my canine companion, undercover delightful. Recommend the "Cheesesteak"(cannot recall the name of item) with the grilled Veggies.
Never Again!
This was a HUGE disappointment. We ordered the Cranberry Feta Burger and it was cold/old, too sweet, and too messy to eat. Our onion rings and french fries were cold and stale, I'm guessing from the day before. Had to seat ourselves and find our own menus. $6.75 Margarita had zero tequilla in it and was too tart. This place had good reviews, but it was really bad so I have to wonder. We let the server know the issues and she said she took off the onion rings which came with the burger?? Could have gone to Whataburger for $12 and enjoyed a fresh meal. Worst $30 we ever spent.
