You will never have to worry if you have time to eat before a meeting. The service is speedy and the food is very good. I love their lox, eggs and onions scrambled or pancake style. The soups are delish and their deli meats lean fresh and tasty. Look out for the desserts...they are addictive!

Nice atmosphere; crowded for lunch. Service adequate, not special. Good quality food, better than a lot .

We really enjoyed the huge salads at this deli. The food was excellent, and wait staff were really customer service oriented.

Best pastrami on rye. Great crunchy crust on the rye bread. Wife and I split a sandwich with coleslaw and kosher half dill pickles.

Travelled to the San Fernando Valley for a friend's celebration in Tarzana we turned to Google Maps to make a dinner choice and found Uncle Bernie's Deli. It was near our final location and review gave it very good ratings, and its chicken soup drew high praise. Unfortunately that chef must have been off when we visited as the chicken soup served to us was, at best, mediocre. While the chicken and vegetables were abundant the broth was thin and the matzoh ball tasteless. Also disappointing was the sky high pastrami sandwich. Even with the coleslaw it was dry and barely edible. I believe it was the first time I have failed to finish a pastrami sandwich. The only positive aspect was that the waiters were prompt and attentive and the prices reasonable.

I recently had lunch with a friend at Uncle Bernie’s. As a traditional delicatessen should be, this place didn’t disappoint. Service was prompt and attentive. Casual dining, casual food. The selection of foods on the menu was enormous. Prices were reasonable. Although the place was busy, the food came out pretty quickly. I had a matzo ball soup and a corned beef sandwich. What really impressed me was how much meat was included in the sandwich…. it was huge and pretty much all meat.

Traveled to LA for a family function. Couldn't go home without a bagel with smoked white fish. Can't it where I live. Great service from Janet. Very attentive people and no rush to get us in and out. Poppy seed bagels just like my Grandpa used to make. I come from a family of Bakers so I appreciate good bread and pastry.

The title says it all. I am a lover or pastrami and I've never gotten any grisly sandwiches. I especially love their rubens...excellent sauerkraut

When I visit family (I am from the Boston area) - this has become a go to place While family members come her regularly - I only get to visit several times a year - but every trip includes a visit here !! From the Black pastrami - to Lox and Eggs - to the Deli Omelet - DELICIOUS !!! Brings back great memories of Boston area deli I used to visit often when I was growing up To some it may be pricey - but quantity and quality is excellent ! Enjoy !

Well when the spot we were scheduled to go was shut down by power outage- we headed to uncle bernies- My first visit to this deli- amazing the portions, options and the crowd was theater! We all ordered from a menu that offered 3 courses. Amazing value- I Don't know how they do it. Soup was delicious, main course wonderful and of course a pudding for dessert. Throw back to my childhood in Ohio and the deli dessert.

A few months ago Uncle Bernie’s didn’t have good reviews, I decided not to visit then but I was in the area and double checked the reviews, I am glad I gave them a try! First off, sooo clever of them to use old bagels for bagel chips and butter. Of course, you need the pickles….. The matzo ball soup was very flavorful and delish. The corned beef sando and fries were delightful don’t forget to add the coleslaw to the sando!

Really like this neighborhood-type deli in the heart of Encino, California. It sort of feels like I'm coming home when I stop in for breakfast, lunch or even dinner. Everyone's so friendly and the food is like something that I would have cooked in the kitchen. Whenever we have a group of friends who are trying to decide where to eat, I recommend this place if it's anywhere near the mid-point between our respective homes.

Picked up a very nice very lean corned beef on toasted sour dough bread. These people know how to prep a to go order. We were traveling and I ordered a hot tea. It was double lidded, and wrapped in plastic wrap and put in a plastic bag and nice and hot. I would not hesitate to stop here again when we are in the area. Top quality corned beef.

We piled into a both and ordered a variety of delicious food. The service was excellent the food was just what we wanted. It was my second time there. I expect I will be there again and again

Ate here several times in years past, the food and service were excellent, however went for breakfast today only to find the food was not as we remembered. Eggs were cold, corned beef hash salty and inedible. Crossing this one off the list of places to eat.

Great deli wonderful atmosphere and service pastrami and potato salad great we also had brisket unfortunately was very dry

The name of the restaurant is deceiving because I found it to have such a diverse menu that the only thing I can compare it to is a diner. Was given a table that had no waiter claimed as their own but, after a question to the cashier after a while, finally had someone come by. Service (eventually) was pleasant and professional but friendly and the portions were large and the food tasty. It seems to have a loyal following and I can see why.

Had delivery through GrubHub today and it was delicious. Hard to find a good Jewish deli in the valley, but this one is a winner! Rare roast beef on a real Keizer roll to die for. Corned beef on rye amazing. Definitely a go to from now on.

Uncle Bernie's is down the street from my daughter's home in Encino. She told me she either eats there or takes out weekly. This is in the spirit of the traditional Jewish Delis. Good Matzo Ball Soup. Big selection of preset deli sandwich combos, or make your own. Large menu with breakfast, lunch and dinner selections. This place is popular with the young and old. The portions are large, but try and save room for one of the chocolate eclairs. Check out the take out deli case, with some food selections that are becoming more difficult to find. Especially fish items. Very good quality. Staffed well and good service. Enjoy!

Had a family breakfast here this morning. We were a big family group and they really took care of us and made us feel at home. Breakfast was very good, prices were reasonable and the service was great. The omelets were stuffed and the home fries were not greasy. Everyone had a good time.

Fabulous food, good service, great value. They have all the usual items and also American and Mexican entrees. Personally, I do not go to a deli for American or Mexican but my friends that have ordered those items say they are also excellent. I recommend the cabbage soup and the meat knishes - but that is me. Also love the pastrami sky high.

First off, the owner of Uncle Bernie's is Norm and the restaurant is named after his Uncle Bernie. Best tips for really enjoying the restaurant: ask to be seated in Hal's section. Hal is an amazing waiter and he has been there for 7 - maybe 800 years as Hal was the best waiter when the restaurant was called Fromin's. Tip number two: order the pastrami or corned beef on rye bread as it will give Brent's a run for the money. As for the rye bread - I believe Norm told me that it's twice baked and it is amazing. If you need to be Gluten Free - Norm figured out where to buy really good Gluten Free Rye Bread and it's great. Last - Uncle Bernie has some of the best chicken soup around and it doesn't matter if you add rice, noodles or matzo balls - it's great. All you have to do now is check it out for yourself as I am pretty sure you will agree with me - this place is really good.

I had lunch today at Uncle Bernie's Deli in Encino. It is a large restaurant and filled to the brim at lunchtime. The matzo ball soup was delicious, filled with one large matzo ball, noodles, veggies and shredded chicken. I also ordered the Kishka with gravy, which was the best I ever tasted! Looking forward to trying their sandwiches next visit!

A typical deli, with an extensive menu and pretty much whatever you want can be found. Prices are about right. The food is average - nothing too special, but still comfortable. Service is attentive and it is generally easy to park there. While there are better options not too far away, you could do worse.

A great deli with food you don't have to take out a second mortgage to afford. Their breakfasts are awesome, their brisket is to die for and it's one of the few places around that has Spumoni. A senior can go there after 4pm and get a meal that includes a drink, soup or salad, an entree with 2 sides, desert and tax for under $20.

Great place for lunch! My office has ordered catering from here and the food was excellent. Everyone loved it. I've also ordered several times for delivery and the corned beef is consistently good.

Uncle Bernies is an icon in Encino. Tucked away in a small strip shopping center, this obscure gem has a queue out the door on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Try the smoked fish. It's delish!!

While this deli is not quite as good as Brent's in Northridge, it does have a lot going for it. The soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pickles, rye bread, and desserts are all plentiful and tasty but a little shy of NYC amazing. What makes this Encino deli a success, however, is the family who runs it (and I mean everyone from Norm at the front desk, to Hal the waiter, to Bobbie, Kevin and the busboys) they're all in this together and the result is a warming familiarity that feels like home. Whether you go in once a week or once a month, you'll feel like "mishpoche" at Uncle Bernie's. What also must be pointed out is that Norm (he's Uncle B's nephew from Brooklyn, NY) and his family have consciously worked very hard to make the prices affordable for seniors who frequent the deli. A throwback from the earlier days when an Asian ran it into the ground are the ladies' card tables in the late morning and early lunch time. I often bring clients there for quick meetings and we share some eclairs or chocolate Danish with our coffee in the late afternoon. Ya know' its like family…not the greatest but you can't live without 'em. Give it a shot.

An easy dining experience. Convenient San Fernando valley location. Free parking lot. Large ample seating with lots of booths. No wait at 11:30am on Sunday morning. An endless menu to select from. Good food...(not great)... what you'd expect for a Jewish deli. Large portions. Good service. And...the coffee they served was more than decent. (A lot of delis serve crappy coffee...and you KNOW what I mean.) This is an excellent breakfast option when you don't want to wait an hour for a table at one of the area trendy eateries.

The food at the deli was delicious. I know one does not normally order Chinese Chicken Salad from the deli, but I did and I will say it was fantastic. It is my latest favorite salad. The dressing was perfect. Their rye bread was out of this world. So fresh, so thick, simply wonderful. I wanted to take a loaf home from their bakery, but I was afraid I would eat it all by the time I got home. My husband had a ruben sandwich and he said it was delicious. It was a good sized sandwich and very tasty. My mother's eggs & onions were great hard to mess that up I realize, but my brother said the Cobb Salad was delicious as well. The atmosphere was fine, typical deli interior, booths and tables, etc. The staff was vey friendly, helpful and very efficient. I think it is a family run operation. It was my first time there and I will definitely be back.

Los Angeles has some good choices for delis, and a few less since the start of the pandemic. Uncle Bernie’s is a serviceable choice. The food is about average for deli food, but it does have the typical large and vast deli menu. The service is pretty good, attentive and accommodating and fast. I would return to Uncle Bernie’s but it probably wouldn’t be my first choice.

I love finding a deliI haven’t been to yet. This is a traditional Jewish deli. I had a reuben. My wife had sweet and sour soup. Everything was good from the pickles to the finish.

When it was Froman's, it was ok..then changed management and was terrible. In its latest change of ownership it has improved markedly. Food better and prices good. Good deli selection. Soup was very good, main courses good. Big servings. Service was very attentive. Worth a visit.

Thick slices of delicious rye bread with crunchy crust and lots of caraway seeds. Fast service. Delicious coleslaw. Scrambled eggs cooked just right. Delicious cucumber and onion salad. Delicious cooked onions on the liver. But I requested the liver cooked with just a hint of pink inside and it was raw inside. And summer squash was under cooked. But waitress took them back and they were cooked more and came out okay.

I was invited by friends to lunch.. service was fair but slow..chicken soup average..priced a bit high..only one stall in the bathroom

Great Deli that won't disappoint you. Great menu, prices & food. You might have to wait but it will be worth it. That speaks for itself. Prices are great for a Deli and the menu has something for most everyone.

This is a typical deli, with an extensive menu. The prices are reasonable, and you get a decent, but not necessarily huge, portion. The service is always excellent.

I have lived in Los Angeles for almost five decades and never even heard of this deli which has been here longer than I. We found it in a google search and decided to try it. Not far off the freeway, with parking (which can get full), we were seating quickly and enjoyed the atmosphere. The wait staff was wonderful and the food was outstanding We will be back and use for catering in the future!

We stopped in to try Uncle Bernie's one morning and what a great find! They have quite a large menu and serve breakfast all day. My green chili and cheese omelet with hash browns was generous, hot and delicious. I ate every bit. The scrambled egg, potato and toast combo is very reasonable and the portions are quite large. The Greek omelet was also very good. Their bagels are excellent - next time I'll get some extra to go. The service was fast and efficient. The sandwiches going by our table were piled high with fillings. This place is definitely worth a try if you are hungry!

Ordered my iconic deli meal as the acid test of this deli’s bona fides. The pastrami on rye was excellent, soft, warm and tasty and not too fatty, with good heavily seeded rye bread, but the rest, eh, not so great. Pickles mushy. Cole slaw bland and needed a touch of mayo. Potato pancake, just plain terrible, not good consistency and not cooked well, not crispy or hot, served with two tiny plastic containers, one of sour cream and one of apple sauce (had to ask for more of the latter, and, yes, it came, albeit a while later, with several containers of each, a bit wasteful but nice, I suppose). Yes, too, the endless soda fountain drink. In addition, brisket not good. Cabbage soup, however, was excellent. Cheesecake, seriously bad, not NY style as advertised. When the cake crumbles before you get it on your fork, it’s always a sign of an imposter, plus the taste as well as the texture wanting. Good service. Not dirty, but not very fresh either, especially as you watch the busboys (only saw men in this task) cleaning the tables with some not so clean looking rag and other patrons removing crumbs from their chairs when they sat down. It’s got the usual giant menu, so lots to choose from. Just not inspiring in the best deli category.

Uncle Bernie's Deli is a fine spot; I've only had lunch there but it is crowded! Bernie's is a little noisy but you just talk louder, no problem. This deli occupies the space left by the defunct but long-standing Fromin's Deli. My last visit to Bernie's I had a classic BLT with avocado added and the sandwich and fries were just right -- lots of crispy bacon and the price was very reasonable. My companion had an omelet that looked great --- not sure of the name but there was cheese, avocado and other veggies. We were in a hurry and service was fast and efficient -- I would highly recommend Uncle Bernie's for the food, service, and reasonable prices compared with the very few remaining delis in the L.A. area.

The Jewish deli classics with added Mexican and Standard American touches. The service is first rate and the food is very good to excellent.

We ordered food to go. It was difficult to decide what to order, because there are many wonderful items from which to choose. We decided on a brisket sandwich on rye, a black pastrami sandwich on rye and a brisket sandwich, open faced wirh mashed potatoes. Well all three of us loved the food. We chose cole slaw as our sides, and it was really good. We also bought a quart of marinated cucumbers with onions. SO good! My friend picked out a chocolate eclair. I tell you, it felt like a full five pounds! So big and chocolatey. Honestly, I was way too full to even try it, but my friends loved it!!! I can't recommend Bernie's more! Everything was absolutely delucious!! Thank you, Bernie!!!

This deli is the best we have found in the east valley. Large modern dining area and a vast menu of classic deli fare.

The food is good for those who have a bland palate. The portions are very good and can be shared with 2 people. If I go back to LA, I might visit again

Uncle Bernie's is the ultimate Jewish deli. If you go on a weekend morning, be prepared for a long wait to get a table. The food is great and the service is even better. You'll think you have your own Jewish grandma cooking just for you.

I must say, Uncle Bernie's is busy for a reason - great food, service and variety! They have the BEST matzo balls ever. I cheat at Passover, and buy their Matzo Ball soup and tell my guests I made it. When they ask for the recipe, I tell them it's a family secret.

After visiting a friend in the hospital, my girlfriend wanted to eat dinner at a restaurant she remembered from when she lived in Encino. When we arrived at the location instead of Fromman's we found Uncle Bernie's Deli. Our server Michael was incredibly nice, attentive to our needs and very efficient. I had the tuna club which was delicious and not only filled me up at the restaurant but provided me with lunch the next day at work! Onion rings and cole slaw were yummy too. My friend ordered the cabbage soup. The portion was huge and the soup had great flavor, as well as, tender pieces of brisket in it. Glad we stumbled upon this gem!

Unlike many delis, this one has good food at reasonable prices. The menu has something for everybody - children all the way to good senior selections for dinner. The serving staff is friendly and the afternoon/evening manager makes you feel welcome.

Nice deli. Good food. The waffle sandwich and the omelets are very good . Breakfast all day. Eclairs are also a favorite.

One of my favorite places to order from on the weekends! They have a huge selection and a lot of classic American type breakfast options. Plus their delivery is quick.

The food at Uncle Bernie's is the best in the West Valley. Incredibly fresh ingredients. The Matzo Ball Soup is scrumptious. Sandwiches are HUGE (order one sandwich and ask for an extra piece of bread (it's free). Split the filling and you've got PLENTY for two people. The salads are even more huge. You can't go wrong. And if you're coming at a busy time like weekend lunch, be patient in the parking lot... a spot will open up within a minute or two!

We were frequent guests in this decent deli until last night. A customer came INSIDE the restaurant with her dog. Many guests were looking at one another why this was allowed. I happen to be allergic to pets as was another guest and we approached the night manager. He was abusive to us and said it is the law. It is NOT the law. The law in California is to allow pets OUTSIDE on patios. I like dogs but from a distant due to my allergies and have noticed the law is being abused and misused by people that want to take their pets inside restaurants, grocery stores and other retail establishments.

Authentic deli food, amazing desserts and great waitstaff are just a few of the reasons to visit this place! The portions are huge. Quality is good. I was travelling with my disabled brother, and I was touched by the compassionate and helpful staff. I will return!

Not fancy but good food at reasonable prices. Good choice for families. Great menu selections. Try it and enjoy.

Dropped in for a quick bite with my wife. An enjoyable omelet (spinach and cheese) and potato salad.....all very good along with a toasted bagel and cream cheese. Cost $17 for the two us including tip. Hal, the server, is always accommodating and very nice.

My favorite deli to visit. Came in from Texas and went for a family dinner. The place is always great. Good portions and well presented. The prices are reasonable as well. If you want deli go to this place!
I wish it was better
Used to be Fromin's, much busier now. Caters to those of us who are 65 and older. Service is OK as is the food. Prices are doable, portions are good size. Lots of senior specials
