WE went to Uncle Vito's as soon as we arrived in San Francisco after a long drive. It was perfect. Delicious pizza and a sandwich with a refreshing drink.

I was walking around San Francisco and found a great pizzeria. It was a great choice on my part. Reasonable prices, delicious food and fast service. Highly recommend

Scottish family of 4. 25 minute wait but well worth it. Food (pizza) was superb and very reasonably priced for city centre. Loads of locals doing takeaway which speaks volumes

Kinda picked this place as a random pizza place I would try if I was in mood for pizza on my trip. Was pretty good. Wouldn’t have problem eating again. Little greasy but most are. Kinda small place and can get loud if the right people are in there drinking, which happened to be the case when we were there. But enjoyed.

Good pizza. Very good crust. Great Cesar salad, and an amazing burger. The burger doesn’t look like much but it’s amazing! Worth to visit There was a line but got my food within 20 minutes

Arrived into SF late and asked at hotel (Stanford Court) where I could get something to eat. Directed to Uncle Vitos and the place was still packed at 11pm. Got our order in and what a great pizza. Superb!. Went back three times over the next few dyas of our stay. They even remembered us which was very satisfying. Great service, great food and reasonably priced. Keep it up guys.

Amazing little Italian place. Food amazing. I had the lasagna. The service was fast and good. Maybe little too cocky. Waiter didn't write the order and tried to remember all 5 dishes and unfortunately came back with the wrong toppings on a pizza and my son had to sit through all of us eating. But food was delicious.

Food was fairly OK, price/performance just OK. The atmosphere was very plain. Service was rather unfriendly. When no tip was given, the waitress almost freaked out.

That photo in the listing with the pizza LOADED with goodies? Take a good look... because that's NOT what you get. What's delivered is an anemic, limp version of that. Really disappointing.

Arriving into San Fran mid afternoon, it wasn't easy to find an open pizza place near our hotel. We ended up at Uncle Vito's. It's very small, retro (to put it nicely) about 7 tables and seems more like a take out pizza place for those in the neighbourhood. I can't recommend this place as it was very mediocre, bland food. It's an in and out kind of establishment where the one server is a no nonsense, don't ask questions kind of guy. I ordered the pesto fettuccini thinking it was just pesto sauce but it turned out to be pesto mixed with alfredo and very rich. Other items ordered at our table were spaghetti with a side of meatballs, a basic cheese pizza and meat pizza. The pasta dishes were supposed to come with garlic bread so after waiting a while for it once my meal had been served, I asked for the garlic bread and the waiter told me they were out. He said he could give me plain bread so I took it. The consensus was ... 2 out of 5.

I ordered a small 10" Mountain pizza to pick up and take away. It was tasty and plenty of toppings, but a little bit crispy for my liking. I like to fold my pizza over. The size was plenty for me, as I'm a big eater and finished it. I'm glad I ordered early, as was starting to get busy inside at 5.30pm.

Disappointed with the Pizza - very bland tasting base. Service friendly enough. Wouldn't re-visit though.

We were staying a short walk from Uncle Vito's and were searching for somewhere to get a quite bite to eat, when we happened to walk past this restaurant. We ordered the pesto pizza to take-away, which was made in their pizza ovens fresh and was absolutely delicious.

Felt like I was in my uncle's kitchen in this cozy restaurant. We shared a pizza (the daily pizza with an assortment of veggie toppings) and pasta (fettuccini primavera) and both were delicious! Pizza crust was yummy without being too greasy.

So glad we found this spot while visiting San Francisco. Being able to watch and hear the cable cars go by, the hustle and bustle, this place had a great atmosphere. The food was fantastic (we love pizza so managed a medium pizza each!), the service friendly and the prices were reasonable. It seems they do a great business in take-out as well, since plenty of people were coming in to order at the counter. If you're nearby, this place has my recommendation if you're a pizza fan!

Bad pizza and overall very run down and no air conditioning in the hot summer temperatures, also very unfriendly service!!

We stayed at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, and this little Pizza Parlour was right down the street. A friendly reception as soon as you arrive with fresh food cooked right next to the seating area. The Ravioli was amazing with loads of meaty sauce. Pizzas were delicious with no greese. We visited three times during our stay because we enjoyed the food so much. Highly recommended and reasonably priced restaurant.

Disgusting food and bad service. Rude manager and sloppy service. Our visit was met with rudeness and cold pizzas and pasta marina was like vomit

On our visit to San Francisco, we were in mood for pizza. This was close to our condo, so gave it a try. Was not disappointed. Excellent pizza

We came here yesterday following the good comments left on TripAdvisor and were very disappointed by both the owner's welcome and the quality of the pizzas on offer. We had originally planned to dine there and were asked to wait 15 minutes as there was no room in the dining room. I left for 5 minutes, leaving my wife to wait. When I returned, the owner had refused her a table that had become available on the pretext that I wasn't there and in a very unpleasant tone of voice. We were asked to wait again until a table became available. After waiting 15 minutes we decided to order a pizza to take away. This was served 15 minutes later. In short, 45 minutes after our arrival we paid 25 dollars for a medium-sized pizza that could be compared to the 12 euros pizzas sold in chain pizza restaurants in France. Worthless. Reputation more than usurped.

Perfect Pizzas and Spaghetti (our daughter said the best ever). Friendly waiter, the food came really fast (the whole place was full!).

We wanted a place near where we were staying and this was recommended. My wife had a gluten free pizza which was a thin crust and very tasty. Prices were quite reasonable and the food was very good. Service was quick (this was a Saturday evening) but not rushed.

Tasty, lovely and friendly! Three great ingredients for a great enjoyable evening. I brought my sister here after a full on day in the city and it was the cherry on top! We always stay locally and love to take the short stroll up to Uncle Vito’s! The pizzas are ever so tasty and HUGE. My usual is the calzone but as we were sharing this time we went for a half and half and just seeing how they do it all before it shows up on your table is espectacular.

Small corner restaurant with delicious Italian food, especially the pizzas. The only downer was being reprimanded for having put our own water bottles on the table, since "it deters other customers from ordering drinks"!?!

Cozy little place on Bush/Powell. Very tasty pizza and the staff are lovely folks. Well worth the visit!

Went to eat there with two families, told the guy we had 9 people. He got very frustrated and told me why dis I not read the sign on the front. It says they can’t seat that many. He was so rude and nasty that my daughter left in tears. I just told him I didn’t see the sign and didn’t know the rules. He said he is so sick of people. Dude is off the hook. I would never recommend this place. Don’t think I have ever experienced someone like this, we wanted to give them business. Just be nice, and tell us you can’t seat us and to do take out, unbelievable!!!

Super busy little restaurant, barely a dozen tables so we had takeaway. I'd visited Uncle Vitos about a decade ago and wanted to return because it was so good and still is! $68 AUD for 2 takeaway calzones though .. my goodness. So tasty I'm (almost) not mad about it.

The food here is great. I was in SF for two nights recently. I stayed at the Westin St. Francis, but all the restaurants- and room service- were closed, so I had to turn to outside options. I love pizza, so I gave this place a try. It turns out they serve some seriously good pizza. They have a nice variety of preconceived pies, and of course you can create your own. I also sampled their burger, which was excellent. If you have a chance to try their food, take it!

Affordable, cheerful with warm staff and a cosy atmosphere. Open late so great for those post drink munchies!

Literally the worst pizza I have ever had. Ordered a large meats pizza and wasn’t even able to finish 1 slice. I am puzzled by the good reviews because I would recommend anyone to go and buy a frozen pizza as it would be better then this awful pizza. Simply disgusting from the cardboard crust the tasteless toppings. I highly recommend to anyone not to be fooled by their good ratings

I have visited San Francisco twice in the last month. I made a return to Uncle Vito's for the excellent pizza and sweet hand tossed crust. THe deep fried tortellini appetizer to start is very tasty. Small and intimate place to go for dinner. Well with the 10 block walk this time. Give it a try. You will be hooked!!!

I do not understand too much the reviews, I found the pizzas very good and especially very great. We waited a little while, because there are people which is normal.

Nice authentic corner pizza place, seating upstairs and down, quite dark and bare inside but cosy, staff serving was very friendly. Starters seemed a little over cooked and the pizza was nice

We ate here three evenings in a row because we enjoyed the food. There is lots of menu options and we were able to order vegetarian and vegan/non diary meals, too. The attentive servers were pleasant and we left well fed and very satisfied!

Local joint. Excellent meatballs and spaghetti. Excellent pizza. Very reasonable prices. Also Excellent service. I will go back.

Great food, great service, even when the food was to go, temperature, packing and preservation were good. Great flavor and Delightful experience. Good cost-benefit ratio.

Food is very good. Place is like in Italy: a bit rough but authentic. But since take away is a big chunk of their business, you may wait more than a while in the dining room...

Not sure what more to say. First night in San Francisco and exactly what we needed. Good food (and cheap beer for the area). Yes 👍

Superb SF pizza. The owner and staff were super friendly and accommodating. We shared a very reasonable bottle of Chianti and the most delicious minnestrone soup in the city. But the sausage and mushroom pizza was just perfect. Delicious crust and sauce and wonderful cheese. Our server Alejandra was also wonderful. Can't wait to go back!

Uncle Vito’s was my favourite evening meal in SF by a long mile. It may not seem much upon arrival but the food tasted incredible. We shared the fettuccine Siena pasta and the mountain pizza. All the food was SO delicious!! I could not recommend this restaurant any more. It was really fairly priced for the quality we were served. Very friendly service too.

The place is tight, yet we visited when it was not crowded, so we choose our seats and the food was fast to come. The menu is a bit limited but the food is good and the service is good. We tried the pizza and the pasta and both were fine.

Really busy Saturday night but managed to get a table after about a 15 minutes wait. All of our food was fabulous and great value too. Cheapest and best food we had during our stay. Thank you.

Excellent, popular Pizzeria serving local population around Union Square. Can't book and popularity supported by early evening queues out of main tourist season. Beware that the large pizza is almost sufficient for 4 people! Friendly and efficient service in the night we visited

Waitress really not kind, restaurant really dirty and I go on .... Spicy dough, too greasy pizza etc... the cola tasted like the toilet fleet!

The place to sit in was small, however, as there weren't many people it was nice. Pizza we had was very delicious and we really enjoyed it. However, staff wasn't very organised. No one came to check if we need anything and it took time to pay.

Food was good would definitely have it again, however I was disappointed with the server, she was very condescending and had showed poor attitude to the fact that the 15% of the bill amount was not chosen. Below average service why should this be worth a 15% tip especially when she reacts in the manner she did!

We always make a point of having a meal at Uncle Vito's. The food is consistently good. The chicken ravioli pasta special was spot on. I also recommend the cheese ravioli friti with the marinara sauce, yummy! The food is always great and the service friendly, attentive and professional. If you want a great meal, check out Uncle Vito's! Cannot wait to go back on our next trip to SF!

Great pizza & pasta at good prize. Small place. Expect to que for awhile to get a seat. Both locals & tourists.

One eat-in, one 'to go' whilst we were in San Francisco w/c 22/6/19. Both visits were very good. The queue is out of the door for takeaways most nights so that is a welcome sign. Pizzas are well made and very tasty.

We always come here for dinner after we attend a football game. Great service and great food. Even got a great pizza to go.

We chose Uncle Vito’s because it was close to our hotel and the prices looked good. Well we made an excellent choice! Pleasant people, the inside wasn’t anything special but the wonderful aroma greeting you as you stepped in made up for decor. Food was excellent! If we had more time here we would go back again.

Truly one of the worst pizzas if EVER had! I was expecting AUTHENTIC but this “pizza” was like eating cardboard! The pasta looked slightly better!

We were just in from the 3 day train ride from Chicago to San Francisco, had just checked in to our hotel and wanted something quick without getting dressed up, but not fast food. The house wine was excellent. We opted for Pizzas and they offered a personal size which was great. Our total EAP price was extremely reasonable for a large city like San Francisco. Also saw many locals coming and going. We went back a second time after a long day of touring.

While the restaurant is small and does a roaring take-away trade we were seated at once. Cristiano, our waiter, explained he was a Brazilian not an Italian, but that he loved Italian food. My partner has always been a fan of garlic mushrooms and these mushrooms were sautéed in garlic to such an extent that chunks of garlic were visible in the dish. My partner said that the mushrooms were delicious. I've had ravioli many times before, this filled pasta is popular all over the world, but this was the first time I had seen ravioli fried. Apparently, it is an American adaption of the Italian dish, and a pleasant adaption it is. The marinara dipping sauce was rich with peppery tomato and the ravioli when dipped in oozed with cheese and soaked up the tomato sauce. I had the sense to cut the ravioli, as the cheese inside was piping hot and needed to cool a little before dipping into the sauce. Instead of one of the pre-selected pizzas, My partner opted for a simple pizza with pepperoni and onion. He was delighted when it came and loved the crispness of the traditional thin crust on which it was served. As I often do when eating in an Italian pizzeria, I opted for the Calzone, this stuffed pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, salami, ricotta and mozzarella cheese was a wonderful combination of crispy crust, oozing meat and delicious cheese. Yummy indeed.

Fantastic food and service. All food was fresh and tasted delicious. Reasonably priced for such a popular location. Would highly recommend.

Excellent pizza near Union Square. Ordered online and picked up a delicious pizza in 15 minutes. Front counter staff were so kind and generous!! The pizza was incredible!

Last night in this expensive city compared to DUBLIN AND HAVING BEEN TRAVELING FOR3 weeks this Restaurant ticked all the boxes. Delicious food ,nice half carafe of wine good chaser salad, and pastas perfectly prepared made us very happy. Good service from our server who has worked in the restaurant for past40 years.

Great little local place. The service was great and the food too. We had the antipasto salad and the mountain pizza. It was great. Give this place a try.

With little time to find anywhere to eat as we were arriving late evening had very little options, what a great little place, pizza was excellent as was the Mrs lasagna was the best she’s had, with a carafe of wine to swill it down at $20 so cheap, local beer for me was great, it doesn’t look inviting but trust me try this place you won’t be disappointed.

We ordered pizza take out from this place twice. We loved the pizza and the fact that it was under $20. Perfect for us!

Fantastic Italian food for (low) prices not normal for San Francisco. We had to wait more than an hour for an available table, but was worthwhile.

The pizzas are excellent and the pasta fabolous People real kind. A place, where you have to go :)..

The restaurant area itself is very casual so I recommend grabbing takeaway.!its a very busy place but they are well organised. I ate here twice and had good pizza both times. The mountain pizza was my fave

After thinking around for a while, it felt like pizza was what I felt like for dinner this first day in SF. Found this place just a couple of streets from the hotel and gave it a go, walked in and was not noticed even though there was a sign asking people to wait for seating. Eventually I was shown to a table on the upper floor and given the menu and after that everything flowed as it should. The pizza was perfectly ok, not the best I've had, but also nothing that stood out in the other direction, perfectly ok, however, you have to keep in mind that I paid about $40 for the pizza and two beers, which was really over the top.

We had just had a 12 hour flight so were very tired and not up for walking around looking for food. It looked like a takeaway but had seats through a doorway to the left. We sat down and ordered a pizza, burger and a green salad. The food was definitely better than the ambience suggested and the only reason we didn't return was because there was so much choice in the city. Good value.

This is my go to place for a one night layover in SFO. Always the pasta primavera, always tasty and a huge portion. The side salad is enough for 2 people. There's always a wee wait as this place is busy but my pasta is totally yum!

Quite nice by American standards. Food was good, value for money acceptable, service fast and friendly.

To escape. The waitress was not nice. Pasta with tomato sauce infects. I'm not talking about even worse pizzas. The whole thing was way too hot. The drinks tasted like toilets, they smelled like javelle. A tip avoid

Very casual pizzeria with a decent range. Great waiting staff. It's as basic as it is casual but a nice place for a lighter meal. A shame that they only had the dull boring label beer on offer

Visited Uncle Vito’s hoping for a no frills easy going restaurant with good pizza. But the pizza was very average with cheap toppings. Wouldn’t come back as there’s so many better pizzas around.

We just fancied pizza and spotting Uncle Vitos from the cable car we decided to visit on the return trip. If you're after a posh pizza restaurant, look elsewhere. If you're after good honest pizza a decent price with a great atmosphere thean this is the place for you. We over ordered with a large pepperoni salami & sausage. Cheese garlic bread and fries. There were four of us, and we left pizza as it simply was too large. The pizza tasted great and friendly staff. Definitely worth a vist...

Small and simple restaurant in downtown, the pizzas are very good but the rest has nothing, the place is dark and somewhat shabby and the service is not the friendliest We repeated two days but to take away since our hotel was next door

Uncle Vito was there on a Sunday night making sure everyone was seated and getting the best food! I love all of the little restaurants in San Francisco and this one did not disappoint! Pizza was delicious! The city vibe and atmosphere were perfect! Very popular and busy! Excellent service! It’s the kind of place that actually cares that you have a nice experience and great food.

Uncle Vito's had soft lighting, warmth, and the feel of an authentic Italian experience! The staff was kind and attentive, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the Fettuccini Primavera and a half carafe of red wine to split with your SO!

Three of us ate on a Weds evening. Place was good and busy, waited a while to be served, but it was really worth it. Good service, great tasting pizza. Had the 16" calzone between two of us and our son had the pepperoni pizza. It was lovely would go back.

“We had dinner there — a cozy and pleasant place with very friendly staff. The pizza was excellent, and The price was reasonable . we had a lovely night overall.”

Uncle Vito's is a great place for pizza and calzones. Reasonably priced, especially for the location, it's classic hand-tossed pizza. I ordered the calzone (to take out) and it was excellent.

We arrived and people were queuing out the door. After a long day sightseeing we needed food. We were told 35 mins wait & hesitated but decided to go for it as reviews were good. Our party of 5 was seated in less than 10 mins. Drinks service prompt & when our food arrived it was delicious. Reasonable priced but you get loads. Well worth a visit.

Two of us stopped at Uncle Vito's for late night dinner on a Sunday night. Vito's is fairly small, but it was packed. They told us 15 minutes, but we waited closer to 45 for our table. We were seated close to 10pm and didn't get our food until about 10:30pm. The food was good and reasonably priced for a little joint this close to Union Square. I had the Greek salad and my son the cheese ravioli pesto.

Convenient location because it is close to Union Square. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Food portions are plentiful and Service fast.

Nice pizza to take back to hotel . Just arrived in San Fran staying at the grant hotel and the pizza place is just across the road

Stopped in here by chance as I was "climbing" back up Powell to my hotel. To my delight, they had personal size pizzas (8") at a reasonable price. Took one back to my hotel room and then came back every night sfter that until my flight home. The pizza is wonderful. but so is the experience: everyone who works here is warm and welcoming. One evening I didn't have exact change, but Uncle Vito said "close enough." This restaurant IS busy, but as I waited for my take-out, it seemed to me that they seated people fairly quickly. One of the best parts of my recent trip! BRAVO!

Got a red eye ( pepperoni, roasted red pepper and red onion) to take away. Base was firm, thick, and quite sweet. Topping was ok. Not the best pizza we’ve had in San Francisco

We found out they were open only from 5-11...glad we were able to confirm that as we thought they were recently closed down. We had a delicious 12 inch Red Eye pizza loaded with pepperoni, red peppers, red onions for $18.

Service si really bad and the waiting time for items is too long. Pizza is great. I suggest to order to go.

Spent too long drinking cocktails at the bar, and needed a late night dinner. Turned up late, but they found us a table, the pizza was excellent. Great place, reasonable prices.

tThere were 9 in our party, 5 adults and 4 children which is always a challenge when trying to get a table at a popular restaurant but the staff were charming and found us an excellent table on the first floor. the pizzas went down a storm with the kids and i enjoyed my lasagne very much.. Good simple wine list and not unreasonable bill.

Great pizza, the best I have tried. Waiters are so kind and efficient. Maybe you will have to wait for a while but they tell you the approximate time in advance.

Average pizza at best, kinda dirty and run down inside. I thought this was gonna be one of those local joints with "character" and the pizza would be great, but that was not the case. There are better options.

Pizza with electric oven. Considering that we are in the US, I recommend a stuffed pizza: we had a margherita (with mozzarella) and a Hawaii, the latter actually better than the first because here salt is almost absent in the dough. Otherwise good cooking, very friendly staff and small and welcoming local. Very good value for money.

I had a side salad and a vegetarian pizza Both were good. Service was good. Price wasn’t too bad either. It was crowded and lots of people were getting takeout.

We stopped into Uncle Vito’s when on the way to a performance at the Masonic Theater. We sat upstairs and had a really great server. The pizza was pretty good and it was fast to arrive which was great since we didn’t have a lot of time.

Good pizza and nice staff, tasty and got us seated quickly. Cafe style with a good vibe. Seemed to be very busy with take aways. Would revisit.

Great, huge pizzas. wen arrived just before 11pm (closing time) and they were happy to serve us with a smile.

We went to this place to buy a takeaway pizza. After placing the order they made us wait in a corner near the bathroom and with all the noise there was we didn't hear when they called us. They located us and gave us the pizza, but with a face of annoyance that was not necessary (especially since the place is small and we were 2 families who were waiting for the pizza to take away, it was not that difficult to locate us). A shame because the pizza is delicious.

We went to Uncle Vito’s to get pizza as takeaway. The place was was crowded, but we were quickly able to place our order - that was not on the menu - what a service. I would go to Uncle Vito’s for pizza next time I stay at the Chancellor Hotel.

This place is busy which to me is a good sign, we had a takeaway pizza “The Mountain” which was fresh, had a perfect crispy crust and had just the right amount of toppings. Great value and excellent quality.

Busy little place on a Saturday night, but we were seated right away (long line out the door by the time we left). We had a large veggie pizza and it was indeed large! And fresh and delicious! We ate our fill and took several leftover pieces back to our hotel for another day. I appreciated that when we each ordered a glass of house red wine, they brought us a half carafe (more wine, lower price). Seriously, the half carafe was under$10, and it was pretty good! We were also impressed with the kindness and grace with which the waiter handled a spilled coke at a neighboring table.

I had the chicken ravioli special with mushrooms in a red garlic sauce, was very good, rich. Wife had the pesto fet, she also said was very good. Good, prompt service. Would go back & recommend.

I’ve had take out from here before and it was very average but it was local to the hotel I was staying at. Decided to eat in this time. Very rude staff. We were told to sit upstairs, lots of tables available. We were asked to move to a smaller table and we asked if we could stay put as the other table was tiny and a friend was going to join us. After 15 minutes no one reappeared. My colleague went to enquire about being served. He was told we wouldn’t be served unless we moved. Unsurprisingly we left. Basically laughed at as we left the restaurant. We walked the 10 mins to Tony’s pizza. Far better pizza and lovely staff. I sadly won’t be revisiting Uncle Vito’s.

The dough is heavy like bread, it's dry and not really crispy. Ingredients are reasonable, nothing special. Service was fast. Feels expensive for such average pizza.

I love this pizzeria!!!!! You are strolling through the city and feeling quite hungry but don’t want to go somewhere pretentious... If this is you, and you like pizza etc, then go here! Between four people we had one large salad and one large pizza. The salad was honestly soooo tasty as was the pizza! Okay, it’s perfect to my taste but some people may not find the crust thin enough. We didn’t try pasta dishes so I cannot comment on those. Anyway, the service here is great. They are quick and polite. Prices are not bad if you share a pizza.

We stumbled in on our way back to our hotel. Quickly seated. Wait staff was what I’ve come to expect in this city (poor at best). Food was good... average pizza

They were obviously busy 75 minutes for a delivery, if they’re busy they’re normally good - correct. 15 minutes and ready as I walked in the door. Lovely thin crust base, fresh ingredients well cooked, cannot fault.

There is not much ambiance in this place; however, the food was good and prices reasonable. The staff was busy and were not particularly cordial or attentive; service was poor ( no one checked back to refill beverages, etc). I think they are so distracted doing pizzas and other food for takeout that in-restaurant guests are neglected. The Sunday night we were there the place was crowded. I think there are too many tables too close together. My companion raved about the fettuccine with baby clams. The side salads were very large as were the entrees. Even though the food was very good, I was turned off by the plain, crowded atmosphere of the restaurant and the poor service.

⸻ Avoid Uncle Vito’s Pizzeria on Bush Street — A Truly Horrible Experience There are literally a million incredible food options in San Francisco — do yourself a favor and skip Uncle Vito’s Pizzeria. From the moment we stepped inside, it was clear this place wasn’t worth our time, energy, or money. We were “greeted” by a man who claimed to be Uncle Vito himself — and let me tell you, if he’s the owner, this place needs a serious wake-up call. He was rude, obnoxious, and completely unprofessional. My adult son was quietly sitting in one of the very limited chairs available to wait when Uncle Vito tripped over him. Instead of offering a simple apology, he scolded my son and told him he wasn’t “sitting correctly.” It was appalling. As for the food — from our quick and unfortunate glance, it looked undercooked, boring, and completely unappetizing. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, uninviting, and just unpleasant. Within minutes, I turned to my son and said, “Let’s go.” That should say it all. San Francisco is a world-class food city. You can find fantastic, welcoming restaurants on nearly every block. This is not one of them. Uncle Vito, if this is how you treat your customers, it might be time to retire — and definitely not in hospitality. ⸻

This is a very casual place, no need to dress up or anything. It looked busy but we were seated and served straight away. I had The Greek pizza, which consisted of feta, olives, green bell peppers and salami. It was amazing. Proper authentic Italian pizza. Prices were extremely reasonable and I had a carafe of wine. Friendly service. Unfussy and perfect,

Ordered the vegetarian pizza which was very tasty with lots of toppings. The crust was delicious as was the whole pizza.

I was in San Francisco on business and stayed at the Marriott around the corner from Uncle Vito’s. My friend and I were looking for a quick bite to grab, but didn’t want to eat poorly. After climbing this insane hill we came to Uncle Vito’s and were very pleased with what we saw. The restaurant is fairly small and business was booming so we had to wait approximately 20 minutes to be seated. We watched as they brought these amazing pasta dishes and the aroma that filled the air was heavenly. Once we were seated, I settled for a pizza with spinach, feta, and roasted red peppers. I was not disappointed. In fact, as I’m typing this, I’m yearning for more. The crust was crispy and thick. It was definitely an old family recipe. There was plenty of sauce and cheese on the pizza unlike some other authentic pizza joints I’ve been to. Our server was fast and friendly even in the wake of the craziness. I will definitely was returning on my next visit.

A short walk from union square and you will find this little pizza restaurant. We didn’t have to wait too long for a table, but be prepared that you may need to as when we left there was a much bigger queue and there are only a few tables. The restaurant itself is small and little dark but clean. We ordered pizzas and the spaghetti and meatballs. All were freshly prepared and extremely tasty. Our server was obviously rushed off his feet so was efficient but not chatty - he was pleasant when we asked him questions though. Great price for the food we had and you can takeaway anything you don’t finish. There is a cable car stop right across the road if you are heading away from union square - much easier than waiting at the start/end of the line.

Good food in this small restaurant. Well paid for. Prima wijn. The service was friendly. We got free garlic bread, which was delicious.

Last minute stop and they managed to squeeze us in.. Great place with some fantastic food and wine. Fantastic value for money

The absolute worst pizza I have ever had! Not sure how to classify this food other then inedible. Steer clear of this disgusting excuse for pizza!

Just across the street from our hotel. Got a table at 5pm for an early supper. It ticked the box. Nothing fancy, friendly service and a reasonable cost for SF.

Really good pizza in a good location. This place was just a short walk from our hotel in union square so we gave it a try and it did not disappoint.

Experience so so, the pizzas are not the top and the staff seemed unorganized. I hope for them it was just the wrong night

Wife and arrived in San Fran, shower and change and basically wanted food as we’ve been up for what feels like for days!!! Quick and easy. Home made. Gorgeous. Do go. It’s not special inside but it is as it’s real and well popular. The hill to get there is a killer but arnt they all.

If you're staying near Union Square, this is a great spot for classic pizza. It's not "gourmet" or super fancy as many of the options in SF are. This is just a tasty crust, with well made sauce and quality ingredients. We were traveling with our 10 year old daughter and it was just what she wanted!

Uncle Vito's is always busy and freqented a lot by locals, also for takeaway. The setup is simple, food is very nice and good value for money. It's not a place to spend a romatic evening but we liked it very much.

Visited twice during vacation in CA. Cosy place with great staff and the best pepperoni pizza on San Francisco!

Uncle vito’s is the classic old fashioned pizza joint you would expect to see in many films. It’s friendly staff, incredible pizza and classic decor are some of the great attributes of vito’s. There prices are reasonable and I would definitely recommend a visit, but if you are visiting with a larger party maybe order to-go as there is limited dinning space.

We stayed in San Fransico for 4 nights and out of 3 nights I ate here. The pizza was to die for, it was absolutely delicious. The staff are friendly and you never have to wait long for the food. The food was at a good price too. I miss this place already.

Having a pizza late at night, not too far from our hotel we came across Uncle Vito's. They are open untill 11:00pm, It's a nice place to eat late at night and don't want to wait too long. I had the hamburger (the burger), It was ok for it's price although the meat was a tad dry. My wife had the ravioli marinara which she said was excellent.

It's a fantastic place. Very cozy place, friendly waitress and delicious food. We had a very rich garlic bread and a spectacular pizza. The taste of the dough was perfect, the tomato sauce delicious and all the ingredients fresh and tasty. A highly recommended place.

When we walked in we thought we'd sit at the bottom but we got put in the upstairs storage room, pretty old and shabby. The worst thing was the waitress, her attitude was very risque in the answers. In addition we were surprised that we had to consume a minimum of money, when we were placing the order he told us and there is nothing in the restaurant to advise him. About normal pizza, nothing special, if you've eaten Italian pizza. Not recommended.

After long hours walk in by the shopping area in san Fco we found this restaurant in the same way of the cable car back to the pear area Is just fews block from union square we walking there We try the pasta rabiatta and the lasagna excellent with good prices and excellently server by British waiter sorry I forget him name

Menus are well worn definitely in need of a new one. Our salad was very good like the dressing in too many beans for my taste, but worth ordering. Pizza was good though had a sweet taste reasonably priced quick in and out.

Visited 10/06/2023 Stopped in here for a bite after the place we wanted wasn't open, and we were so glad of that! This pizza was delicious, the pizza size was good, toppings and cheese even better. We had a side of fries that were perfectly cooked. Obviously a popular place as we grabbed the last table inside, and there was a queue out of the door for pick-up as we left. It was your typical italian food, but it was some of the nicest pizza we had had in a long while. Not greasy, dough was well cooked but not burnt or squishy. We would recommend stopping in and indulging.

Fantastic small pizzeria on the Powell st cable car line. No frills, but excellent pizza with a good choice for vegetarians.

Uncle Vito is a traditional Italian diner with a no-nonsense flair and ambiance. The entrance leads customer into the small walkway next to a large and behind-the-counter kitchen where pizzas and pastas are prepped freshly by the down-to-earth cooks. An open door leads to a nice dining area of 7 tables of 2 - 4 seats each, where singles, couples and small groups dine. The staff can be moody: sometimes super-friendly and sometimes curt. Prices are reasonable. Their very tasty Lasagne comes with a large tomato salad & a side garlic bread. Their pizzas arrived to tables hot and fresh. Check out the Mountain Pizza if you're a meat eater who wants some finely roasted veggies - even the small size will satisfy 2 people or you could ask for a box to pack your leftover pizza. Their tomato sauce is rich and deep. Did we see Uncle Vito in a Hawaiian shirt? This place is a bustling take-out or takeaway business and have seats for 4 seat for people waiting for their take-outs. Various people stopped in to pick up mostly pizzas and sometimes pastas, but the dining area is well-spaced and quieter. Buon Appetito!

Great food! Garlic bread in advance (which was really not necessary considering the portions) Pizza and lasagna. Plenty of everything. Pick up is also possible! Service was smooth. Recommended! Downstairs and above a few tables.

The pizza at Uncle Vito’s was delicious, it has a crispy base and such tasty ingredients. The size of the pizza is generous.

Great little pizza shop with reasonable prices. Had the pasta which was delicious. Very nice blokes behind the counter.

This pizza restaurant was just across from where we were staying so ate there the first night as we were all tired. Pizza and pasta were delicious. So we ate there two other nights. Picked a different dish each night and loved it, highly recommend it. It’s not a big restaurant but seems to be frequented by locals with lots of takeaways. Upstairs seating too. Staff were friendly. Will go back if we are ever in San Fran again.

Classic neighborhood pizzeria, with huge portions of pasta too. Very tiny place with small number of tables, so they don't accept groups of more than six. Fast, friendly service, delicious food and the house red was good too.

My wife & I in 4 days in San Francisco ended up eating twice at Uncle Vito's! Food was very fresh & more importantly tasty. Both times we had different vegetarian pizzas & pasta & were not let down.

Coming from Chicago we are picky about our pizza. Very good and would definitely recommend. The pizza is not like a Chicago pizza but more like a N.Y. style that we have experienced in traveling.

I had an excellent pasta dish, salad, and 1/2 carafe of white wine for only $36! Best value I experienced this trip in SFO. It was right across the street from my equally good hotel Cornell de France.

My lady friend and I stopped by after seeing the holiday decor and stopped by for dinner. Good hand made dough pizza with reasonable prices on the beer. Close to Union Square and easier to get seated than most other places. The place was busy yet they managed well.

The pizza was delicious and the service was fantastic. This is a place with character, the decor is 'worn in' - but it is cosy, welcoming and homely Its a no-bullsh1t kind of place. The prices are refreshingly reasonable. We loved it on our first visit and went straight back the next night. Thanks Uncle Vito, thumbs up from the UK!

Pizza restaurant close to union square, quick service no frills. Check out the owners Honda bike outside.

Not recommended. Very disorganized. I had ordered a takeaway pizza and they served people who arrived after me. I certainly won't be returning

Wanted to try local pizza instead of usual franchises. Was very disappointed with what we got. The pizza was very greasy and did not enjoy. Would not recommend.

Me and my colleague came here three times during our one week stay. We just loved the pizza! Good value for money! Just a caution: A large pizza is LARGE! 😂

Yesterday (9/8) about 21h30 my husband and I went to Uncle Vítos regardin advice from TripAdvisor. The recepcionist (might be The owner or The manager, The only Man running around ) told US tô wait nearby The restroom Doors. He demanded"Whats Your nome? Go there and sit there). 20 minutes of waiting He called US for a table upstairs. More 15 min we were going tô order and me and my husband interruptor each other once, He goes " stop talking at The same time! I cannot listen!". Then my husband made a gesture for me to go ahead, and I order for some basil pizza. He scream: I don't know what there is, I have pesto pizza, which is diferente!". And I said, ok (I Know that pesto is a sauce made of basil). When He brought our refreshments and I didin't thank him He (my husband did say) He madeira jovem about me like ,"Aí aí ai" (as in The Latina or mexican lady is mad). But I am brazilan and nobody deserves his irritation and discrimination. Is The pizza were good I would eat it and go home. But it was a oven (gas) baked crust with dry cheese and some pesto. We had one piece and left. Nobody deserves this kind of treatmen, neurotic and rude Man! Stop serving People, you don't Live them!

Good value, fast service, good food quality, nice location. We had T"he Mountain" - sixteen inch was enough for four people

I had a small specialty pizza that was very good. Husband and daughter split a regular pizza. Good food and reasonable prices - can't ask for more!

I am a reasonably regular visitor to uncle vitos as I thoroughly enjoy the food there. We went as a party of 6 and sat upstairs for a change. Food was great as always..and the service was friendly and efficient. However when we came to pay the bill, we used 2 cards and cash. One card was supposed to have been charged $26, the other card was supposed to have been charged $78. Unfortunately only my card appears to have been used therefore charging me $104 . I tried to contact you via telephone once I realised this had happened after checking my account but I could not get through to you as the line was constantly busy. How do I go about getting this $78 refunded to my card.?

The pizza I had was very average and far too expensive for what it was to be completely honest. This was disappointing, considering the restaurant had been operating for a long time and pizza was meant to be its speciality. The female waiter (with a zip-up top/hoodie) was overattentive. She asked me and other customers how the food was far too many times and it frankly got very annoying and strange. I was asked at least 5 times in the hour I was there and the group of Japanese women next to me were asked even more. When I paid the bill with cash and the waiter saw I had left the exact amount with no tip, her attitude suddenly changed and got very rude. She just said something along the lines of "you can leave now". When I tried to say thank you, she ignored me and gave me a dirty look. As someone who also works in the restaurant trade, I found this very rude and unprofessional. Waiters need to understand that a tip/gratuity is not something that is guaranteed to be given by everyone after every meal and is not something that will be given for average (or even poor) food and service. And for a waiter to become rude and dismissive because they didn't get a tip is very telling of their character and personality. Will not be coming back.

Located just a short walk from union square, this was one of the best meals we had in San fransisco, the atmosphere is great, staff are very attentive and food was delicious at a great price!

This place is GOOD and both the tourists and SFO locals know it. Waited in line 20 minutes for a table but the wait was worth it. Great meal at a VERY reasonable price.

We visited here a couple of times when staying in San Francisco. Covid regulations were adhered to - lovely laid back feel. Drinks very reasonably priced. Food superb - we had mountain pizza which was stunning and meatballs, equally good. Super friendly service and all in all brilliant experience- hope to see you again soon

Very disappointed as the restaurant was recommended by our Pension. Unkind welcome by the boss who challenges me dryly when I just glance at the dirty, unpleasant waitress who does not look at you when she takes the order and the pasta was medium, drowned in sauce

The staff are friendly, they do have beer and wine and daily specials. Small place but excellent service, we went for lunch and enjoyed it.

Fantastic pizza! highly recommend when visiting San Fran. It is small. If you can't get seating - get take away! We were fortunate on the night we visited that there were no queues.

But yes, why not try pizza in Frisco? And here we are at "Uncle Vito"! The pizza was good, electric oven, but crispy dough though no salt. Fresh ingredients, in short pleasant surprise! Recommended for a quick stop and not to spend the usual $100 each time!

Pizza was very tasteless: no salt, no spices. It was edible, but we wouldn't go back. You can also save yourself the wine.

This is a small but busy pizzeria right in the heart of Powell St. There is a wide choice for pizza and plenty of other offerings. Everything are at very reasonable prices and the service is good too.

Food is excellent. Specialties are pizza and pasta. We returned a couple of nights and had the eggplant parmigiana, meat lasagna, pizza, Greek salad. Service was fantastic. $, Prices are great. Dinner only.

Great pizza, great service. Price for soft drinks more than fair. Overall, the price performance totally fits - good price / good food

The pizza here was excellent and good value for San Francisco. Service was friendly and efficient. No frills restaurant.

This is the 3rd time we've eaten at this institution! The linguini and clams are the best! Wine is inexpensive, drinkable, and generous. We love this place!

Right across from our hotel near Union Square. Delicious pizzas and pasta. Reasonable prices. Quick service. A great place to go late at night.

A casual venue for a pizza or pasta meal. Pizzas are large and great to share. It can take a while to get a seat to dine in, but worth the wait.
Good Pizza
Good food and friendly staff, be prepare to wait a bit for a table since the capacity is very limited but worth the wait,
