Location was close to Homewood Suites so we ordered take out. Good garlic eggplant. Atmosphere seemed more modern (not your mothers Chineese restaurant) and fun.

Chickenless in Seattle

By Rviking |

Not very good. The potstickers were okay, but entrees were a disappointment. Sesame chicken had no chicken in it. Literally fried skin. Just bad.

Stumbled upon this delicious Chinese Food while in Seattle

By Melissa Y |

My teenage daughter and I were staying in Seattle for the night and were craving Chinese food for dinner. It happened to be my birthday, so I wanted to go somewhere kind of nice. Having absolutely no idea what would be a good place (we're traveling from Texas), we happened to drive by the Uptown China Restaurant and decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did!!! The food was delicious (hot and sour soup, sesame chicken, "10 ingredient" sauteed rice thread noodles), service was friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. It was a memorable meal and such a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend stopping in for some delicious Chinese food if you're ever in Seattle.

Great Way to Start Date Night

By Lora F |

Visited around 6:30 on a Friday night, and both bar & restaurant were pretty full. We were seated quickly in a nice, quiet booth. Took a few minutes to get a server, but then drinks and appetizers came quickly. The dirty martini was worth it, as were the pot stickers. But the highlight was to come ... With our dinner order in, the owner came in and started making the rounds to all the tables, saying hello and hugging those she knew better. My boyfriend has known Yumei for years, and she was extremely warm in welcoming him and in our first meeting. In fact, she came back and chatted with us a while, shared some funny stories. The food: honey walnut prawns -- you must order this dish. Nice plump prawns in a sweet but not too sweet sauce with corpulent walnuts. Heavenly. The sauteed green beans are also a must -- not hot but just spicy enough, crisp-tender and very flavorful. I always get almond friend chicken wherever I go -- sometimes frightening and sometimes disappointing -- but they got this dish right ... a crisp panko breading, brown gravy portioned without drowning the meat, and a generous sprinkling of almond halves. Round it out with white rice, and we're fueled and ready to take on the rest of date night. The decor: too many Chinese restaurants are, to borrow a line from the movie "Clueless", what you'd call a "Monet" -- looks good at a distance but a big ol' mess once you get up close. However, at Uptown the furniture is solid and clean, the walls are well painted, not scratched or dinged, the art is tasteful and fresh looking, then purists can get their fill of red Chinese lanterns and stuff like that. Quite certain my new and high regard for this place isn't borne of a martini halo effect or prior propaganda by my boyfriend, I very much look forward to going again and trying even more delightful sounding dishes from the menu.

Our Families Favorite

By Tony S |

On our 4 day trip to Seattle this was everyone’s favorite restaurant! The little kids loved it. The adults loved it. Very friendly, accommodating and delicious food. Highly recommended to everyone!

Just GREAT!

Have eaten at Uptown more time than I can remember and each time the food and service are GREAT! Can't recommend it highly enough.

Full of locals...decent food.

We found this place while visiting Seattle and loved the friendliness of the place. Potsticoers were wonderful.

Tasty,Spicy chinese food in downtown Seattle

By Pradeep Kaushal |

Very friendly staff. Got good suggestion for making good selection of our food. We ordered chicken pot stickers, Hot & sour Soup,Shrimp noodles,Cashew prwans and another entree of Chicken. quantities were plentiful and tasted spicy and delicious as per our taste. Felt totally satisfied and full. Ambience is informal and friendly. Ideal place for family dining. Nice view of Space needle behind the restaurant. Will surely visit this place again and again.

Our Go-To Chinese Restaurant

By OrcasIslandDream |

We have been enjoying meals here for over 20 years and even had our rehearsal dinner here. You can't go wrong with the dry sauteed string beans and Chang Sa Chicken. The service is friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend if one enjoys American style Chinese food.

Yu Mae is the best!

You Mae, the owner made us feel welcome and added a healthy dose of fun and laughter to our meal! The food was delicious and priced just right👍🏻 It's easy to see why they have been in business over 20 years!!!

Just okay

By skippie_8 |

Service was slow for a somewhat early dinner on a Sunday. Decor is clean and pleasant. Nice to have free parking in lot behind restaurant. Our group had 2 appetizers and three entrees. The appetizer s though small were good. Potstickers and spring rolls standard fare. The entrees were a mixed bag. I had a shrimp walnut dish. It was not hot when served and sauce had coagulated. After a few bites I could no longer eat it. Rich and pasty consistency. The other two entrees were okay...chicken and broccoli -the vegetables had seen a better day...broccoli was almost yellow. The other dish was fine. Nice to have a reasonably priced Chinese restaurant in neighborhood...just wish food was better.

Awesome neighborhood place

By Hystericalhappiness |

Air conditioned. Great service and unique twist on Chinese. Reasonably priced. Love the beef and shrimp dishes. My husband likes the duck, you can order in advance.

Our local hangout

By sgirlie |

I know it's not the greatest chinese food in the world, but it's pretty darn good. My friends and I go here fairly often, and their lunch deal is great.

Nice Chinese Food

Great, simple place. Good selection. One of the best Sweet and Sour soups I ever had. Mongolian beef and Lime Chicken were very good. Reasonable pricing. Good service.

Good good good service

By LesleyGulledge |

I really enjoyed the Hunan Tofu Bean curd dish I got as well as the hot and sour soup. Everything was rich in flavor and the server was lovely. They don't offer desserts, though, which we didn't mind but if you care about having that option, keep that in mind. It's reasonably priced and a casual eating spot!

No brag, just Fact: Best Hot and Sour Soup in Seattle!

By sexybaby7399 |

We went here last night at 10 pm and were very pleasantly surprised to Find the best hot and sour soup in Seattle along with respectable won ton soup (my wife coveted my hot and sour which she tried and wished she ordered) along with outstanding house special rice! and great customer service from Frank and he even served us very sweet oranges peeled on the rind along with fortune cookies and sent us home with extra hot and sour soup to go with our leftover house special rice for later! Great customer service and great Chinese food! We will be back and highly recommend it to you! Drinks are a bit on the spendy side with long islands and mai tais at 9.50 and well drinks at 7

Yum!

By Katie S |

OMG, I can't say enough about the food! We were in town for a few days and I was craving some Chinese food and this place was a few blocks from our hotel. It was delicious. The sweet and sour chicken was awesome -not just the typical chicken nugget plopped in sauce. The fruit and vegetables were superb (apples, who knew?) The lo-mein, rice, everything you'd expect and a few surprises too. Definitely recommend!

Gorgeous and Speedy Takeout

By MrsBaum |

We went here for convenience and we're glad we did. We ordered and had our food in around 5 minutes. My husband had the honey walnut Prawns which looked lovely. I had chicken fried rice (which I have at every takeaway) and it was the best I've had in the States by far. Gorgeous.

LEGIT CHINESE FOOD

By Jeff T |

I read the reviews on this place on TA and Yelp--mixed and im shocked. What is everyone looking for? Darn! this place was very good and fairly priced for how much food you got. Visiting my brother and staying in Lower Queen Ann outside the city, we walked down the two blocks from our hotel. Nice walk. We are from so cal and have some awesome Chinese food establishments there-----but by comparison. its up there. we had: hot and sour soup, garlic chicken, walnut shrimp, Mongolian beef, and mixed fried rice. All of it was very very good. Service was also good. Price for all 5 of us to eat including tip was $90. Not too bad, considering we could have done with one less meal. Plus White rice and a Beer. I will go back next time visiting my brother. Not a flash or swank place to eat, but food is good and service also good. highly recommend it.

Great, Authentic Chinese Food

This place is a little off the beaten path but worth the trip. The hot and sour soup was delicious. All the dishes were made with fresh ingredient. Everything was delicious.

Fun Evening

By Shannan S |

I come here with two of my very best friends for our quarterly get togethers. We have been coming to Uptown for years and it will continue to be our first choice place to meet up. The bar service is good and the bartenders attentive. The bar area is a bit small so if you are visiting with a group or do not want to have to sit at the bar, I would suggest getting there before happy hour or waiting until the "rush" has subsided at around 7:30pm. The restaurant space is nice but we almost exclusively sit in the bar as it has great windows for people watching. As for the menu, I love their dry sauteed green beans and shrimp toast. The wonton soup is also a favorite. Point to note... they have a very limited parking lot. If you are driving, you may have to find a street spot (good luck!) or use a pay lot so factor that in when planning a visit. When in lower Queen Anne, this is worth a stop.

Awful service, decent food

By WorldD_TRaveler789 |

Wow, unbelievably awful service. The waitress was slow to bring to us water and take our order. Our entrees came prior to the appetizer we ordered. There were three of us at dinner and two of us ordered a similar rice dish. At the conclusion of the meal, they combined the rice dishes into the SAME box. Really? Not only do we not live at the same house, two different people ate off the respective plates and now its in the same box. In the garbage it goes. After calling the restaurant to have it resolved, we were basically told nothing could be done. I am extremely disappointed. I am a local and have been going to this restaurant for some time. After getting the wrong order on several prior visits, this is the final straw. There was no reason for two DIFFERENT dishes, to be put in the same box, especially when it should be obvious that the guests at the table do not live together. Buyer beware and I for one, will not be going back.

Worst General Tao Chicken I’ve ever tasted

By Joanne N |

We are visiting here in Seattle and my husband wanted Chinese food for his Father’s Day dinner. This place seemed to get good reviews, so we ordered take out. My sesame chicken was ok, but his General Tso’s was flat, greasy, and tasteless. So disappointed. And $12 for a side of tasteless rice noodles in a little box. What a rip off. A very disappointed customer.

Delicious...and they deliver

By Mikeriesadventures |

We ate once at the restaurant and then had them deliver to our hotel room on a different night. Both times the food was excellent. Large portions, reasonable pricing. Thumbs up!

Great Food, HUGE Martinis!

By SEAtoJHM |

This is our go to for take out, pre concert, and after work meeting place. Excellent food at dinner, but lunches have been so so. Very friendly bartenders who pour HUGE martinis, and the owner Yu-Mei makes everyone feel like family. If we havent been in in a while she gives a hug with a scolding! Some of the best menu items are the Dry Sauteed Green Beans, the Crispy Walnut Prawns, and although not on the menu, the Shrimp Toast. If you are near Queen Anne or the Seattle Center (where the Space Needle is for you out of towners) give this place a try!

revisted after 4 years and as good as ever

By mwhamburger |

fast service, nice interior, good choices for 9.25 (Lunch). Yes, the price has gone up but what hasn't? the Almond chicken with white rice, a spicy soup, and a veggie roll were very satisfying and almost too much for me .. plus Chinese tea. They have a few parking places in the back. Come early.

Best Chinese Food, Servers, Owners!

By Toni B |

This is a restaurant I discovered many years ago, and one I still travel to for the best food around! I now live in the suburbs after moving outside Seattle when I got married. The food is always fresh and tastes wonderful. Yu Mei runs the place and you will not find a friendlier face to greet you when you are at Uptown China. After one time in her restaurant, she remembered both my name AND my mom's name as well, and now my husband-:) The restaurant is immaculate and service is great as well as friendly. Great small bar to enjoy cocktails and some great dinner if you like an intimate atmosphere. I promise you won't be sorry if you love great Chinese food.

Decent Chinese Food

By Daniel W |

Nice place. Great Hot and Sour Soup. Somewhat crowded for dining but take out of good. Main dishes are large.

Reasonably Priced

By Toroniee T |

The restaurant is spacious and has a full bar on one side away from the main seating area. Food serving is large. Walking along Thomas St is a safer walk than Denny Way to get to this restaurant. Plus, you get to see the Space Needle.

Good food, but online menu was a problem

By James S |

The food was well-seasoned and prepared. Very well-done veggies! The eggrolls were tasty and not too greasy. Delivery was on time and quick. The major bummer was that there was no rice. I called and was told I had to order rice separately. We would have gladly paid for rice but had no idea this was an extra. I recommend to the restaurant that you correct the problem because it is rare if ever that Asian food wouldn't be accompanied by rice.

Enjoyable Chinese Fare

By PNWExplorer1 |

My wife and I have been eating here for five years. We experience great service, great pricing, and great value. We enjoy our warm welcomes from and conversations with owner Yu-Mei Wang.

Fun Chinese place for lunch!

By Ellespeth |

Uptown China has great food & excellent service! I met friends for a lovely, relaxing lunch. It's a family-run business & we enjoyed this place. Our waitress was very helpful. Their lunch specials are priced great, ($15-) especially for downtown Seattle area. I had Sweet & Sour Chicken, which came with a cup of Soup, appetizer, choice of rice and hot tea. Very enjoyable. *They also have free parking.

Our got to Chinese restaurant in Seattle

By Seattlegirl720 |

We love this place. Never had a bad meal here. Over the years we have ordered almost everything on the menu all is good. We especially like the honey walnut prawns, the crispy chicken, Mongolian beef etc etc etc because really it is all good. Added bonus the entire staff is wonderful. Whether you sit in the bar or the dining room you will get great service. Also note that they have a small parking lot behind the place for customers. Because it is small there is not always a spot available but getting free parking in Seattle is always nice too.

We were very disappointed in the takeout.

By Paul P |

We were very disappointed in the takeout. The food is mediocre at best, portions are very small. Very pricy for the amount of food you get. Most Chinese restaurants in NYC and east coast would provide at least 30 percent more food for the price. No rice was provided, and they were missing part of order. Not even one fortune cookie was provided. Really?!! Save your money, order elsewhere.

YUMMY Food, Great Service!

By Tamara S |

First time visiting, we were impressed! Very good friendly, excellent service. Great food and reasonably priced. EXTRA points for restaurant and restroom cleanliness, not to mention this place has a parking lot in back small but very handy. Highly recommend.

Fraud

Ordered my usual online and there website charged my card and canceled my order thay say thay dident take my money but bank says thay did so her it is 2 days later and still no refund there sneaky just be couscous about this place

Avoid this restaurant

By kawoh |

Got 2 lunch specials food was pretty bad. Not somewhere I'll be coming back to. I mean these dishes were amateurish. Disgusting.

Loved the Honey Walnut Prawns

By KellyM0602 |

Excellent food and service. The sweet and sour pork was excellent too, not at all greasy. We tried the sautéed green beans and they were a little sweet and a little spicy so I wouldn't order them again. The meal was served with tea and sliced oranges and fortune cookies for dessert. The menu is extensive. If we were staying in Seattle longer I would definitely return to try some other dishes.

more than acceptable, standard Chinese

By N_in_Seattle |

Didn't actually "eat" there, just ordered takeout for the traditional Jewish Christmas Eve celebration with friends (instead of going out, this year each of us got takeout wherever we chose, then brought it to a house to share the meals). The "house special" of chicken and veggies in white wine sauce was pretty bland, though the peppers, broccoli, bok choy, and such were nicely al dente. OTOH, I thoroughly enjoyed the Szechuan tofu, which was properly spicy-hot with a rich sauce that wasn't overly cornstarchy. The potstickers had much more filling than I'm accustomed to, maybe even (if you can believe it) too much. Service on the phone and while we waited for our packed-up food was very good. When I asked to have it ready an hour after my call, instead of the 20 minutes it would take to prepare it, they were completely accommodating to the request. We only waited at the hostess counter about five minutes after arriving, during which the hostess chatted with us, took phone reservations, showed parties to their tables, worked the cash register/credit cards, and bantered with other guests. In a city where Chinese is usually either very old-school Ameri-Chinese (Moo Goo Gai Pan, sweet&sour chicken, eggrolls) or challengingly "real" regional dishes, Uptown comes in somewhere between. More toward Ameri-Chinese, but willing to offer dishes with a bit of the challenge to them.

Great non oily Chinese

By bruce allan b |

We have visited this place many times always excellent. Yesterday most recent (late June) my preference is s veggie dish Buddha’s delight which is perfectly prepared. Their Mongolian beef, seafood noodles everything good. We have all been to China. The owner of 25 years very personable Taiwanese woman. They also have gluten free snd veggie dishes and a good martini!. Kid friendly by the way

Good service, good food

Everyone who worked there was very nice. Walking distance from my hotel Food was great, and service was great Complimentary tea :)

Not Authentic, Overpriced, "Chop Suey" styled Chinese restaurant

By Steven T |

This place must have new ownership because the menu is reduced to only 2 pages. The prices are about 40% higher than the International District. But the biggest change is believe it or not Uptown China has devolved into a "Chop Suey" styled restaurant. I ordered their "Pan Fried Noodles" to go since there is no longer a "chow mein " on the menu. When I got home I noticed a large soup container in the bag. I assumed they made an error and gave me someone else's soup. However, when I opened the noodle container it contained only noodles! The noodles were hard and shaped like a round disc with the consistency of uncooked instant ramen noodles. I then realized the "soup" container was supposed to be poured over (??!!) the dry noodles! It's obvious this place is targeting people who are not familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine. I believe there is a place for "Americanized Chinese food". But this was a few notches below that going back to the "Chop Suey" styled food you might find in a Midwestern Chinese restaurant from the 1970's. To the owners I say please don't assume your customers are ignorant in the ways of decent authentic Chinese food. Americanized Chinese food is fine but please don't drown the food in thick starchy sauces. Wok cook over ultra high heat with minimal oil and no sauce and let the customers taste the "dragon's breath".

Just what we were craving

By MitchandLuke |

Chicken and broccoli was very delicious with steamed rice. Server was super nice and accommodating. Thanks for making our last dinner in Seattle special. We will be missing this restaurant tomorrow. Wish you were in mid Missouri.

Very Good Food

By Joan C |

We had a meal here recently one evening. Very nice staff, great sense of humor on the menu. Drinks were very good. We ordered two dishes to share. The food was good, quite a bit better than average Chinese American food. My partner loves Chinese food and would definitely eat here again.

Tasty Chinese, Fun Spot

By suzpru |

The casual place is delightful. Interesting menu, fresh and delicious food. Cool little neighborhood too.

Good food with some healthy options

By Tracey M |

It is not what my Chinese friends would call authentic, but they like it anyway. I am impressed that they are trying to add some healthy options - namely "Pat's Special" which features steamed vegetables with your choice of meat. Reasonable prices and able to accomodate large groups.

Did they change ownership?

By ontheroad80 |

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. I used to work nearby and ate there on a regular basis, as it was one of my favorite restaurants. Our visit was during the semi final of the world cup and the service showed. We were the only customers in the restaurant and it did not seem like they were interested in serving us. It took unusually long for our server to come back and take our order, and even longer to get our food. My wife ordered sweet and sour shrimp and was not pleased. Mostly batter, and not much in the way of shrimp. I ordered the Mongolian beef as it was always one of my favorite dishes there. Very bland seasoning and honestly not very good. Seattle has a lot of outstanding Asian restaurants and customers like us are used to good food. Unfortunately, this place has gone down hill since we were there last a couple years ago. The prices were a bit much for what we got. White rice is extra, if you can believe it. Most Asian restaurants will give it to you as part of your order. Really sad, as this used to be one of my favorite hangouts awhile back. Definitely will not be back.

Great lunch spot!

By Brenda and Chuc... T |

We love this restaurant and go there frequently for lunch. The food is good and the service is excellent.

A Hidden Gem!

By Larry K |

Located at the foot of Queen Anne Hill, Uptown China serves awesome food. A neighborhood favorite for 20+ years. Happy hour or multi course meal the food is consistently great and the staff always friendly.

28 years of delicious, authentic Chinese Cuisine.

By vivian f |

My mother owned 4 Chinese restaurants in Texas. I think she would love Yu-Mei's Uptown food; service was fast, food was hot and tasty, owner is friendly, what more would does a restaurant need to deliver as a small business? Loved the hot and sour soup, spring rolls with fresh made hot mustard sauce, brown rice with kung pao chicken, and real orange peels in the generous cuts of orange chicken.

Great neighborhood restaurant

By John D |

We went with friends who have been to this Chinese restaurant many times. They know the owner and the water and we had a wonderful time. In addition the food is superb. Very friendly neighborhood restaurant that is frequented by locals. We enjoyed all of the dishes that we ordered. By the way they have a full bar.

Excellent dinner for two, served family style.

By Joseph S |

We were looking for a place to dine before going to an event at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Uptown Chinese is a quick walk from the 1st Street Parking Garage. We ordered Almond Chicken and Chicken Fried Brown Rice. The food came quickly. The food was hot and plentiful for two people. The Chicken fried brown rice was moist, had an authentic taste and was made with a good compliment of vegetables. The service was friendly and attentive. The price was very reasonable. Uptown Chinese Restaurant is now on our list of favorite places near Seattle Center.p

Excellent service and very good food!

By MZC-Grandma |

This was close to our hotel and it generally very good reviews so we decided to try it. We weren’t disappointed! We were seated right away and our attentive server arrived promptly. We ordered spring rolls and jade and pearl prawns with brown rice. The order arrived incredibly promptly and we were not disappointed! The spring rolls were tasty and the entree EXCELLENT! There were numerous prawns & the variety of vegetables were cooked to perfection. It was served in their (very light) white wine sauce which left you feeling like it had been a healthy choice. There was also a pleasant surprise with the usual fortune cookies - delicious orange wedges that had been cut in such a way to make them easy to eat. We really enjoyed our choice.

Great starters but the entrees weren't remotely spicy - not even the General Tso's chicken - which is marked as spicy...

By seattle_thistle |

Great starters but the entrees weren't remotely spicy - not even the General Tso's chicken - which is marked as spicy on the menu.

Good Classic Chinese

By EJDavis83 |

We love coming to Uptown China for great food, easy to bring any size of group, YuMei, the owner, always welcomes everyone as if it's her own home, awesome drinks. My favorite dishes: honey walnut prawns, fried rice, chicken with broccoli, almond chicken, and the amazing chicken wings. Also they deliver downtown/queen Anne area!

Love this place

By angelsiou1 |

The food is delicious and very friendly service. I love how the place has a neiborhood feel to it. I felt very welcomed. I especially loved the parking behind the restuarant. This is the best Chinese food I've found in Seattle so far.

Outstanding!

By MartyandSusan |

Amazing restaurant! I have been going there since the early 1990's and the food is always excellent. Great drinks too.

Delicious Chinese Food !

By VOgirl |

We went to Yu-Mei's for dinner while visiting a friend in Seattle. This small neighborhood eatery is big on satisfaction. We ordered a couple of appetizers, and 3 different entrees which were all yummy. Yu mei is such a friendly host/owner. She cam around and spoke to us, checking on our experience. That was a nice touch. Next time we are in Seattle, we'll definitely go back.

The best Chinese you will ever eat!!

By Eryn B |

Try our go to menu when eating here: Lemon chicken and garlic string beans mixed together over rice with the lemon sauce and soy sauce drizzled over it. Barbeque pork and wonton soup for your appetizers. Ah dinner of champs!! I have never had a better lemon chicken anywhere else and I have looked EVERYWHERE!!

I will be back, this is a destination spot

By Boom-Pelham |

I was with my wife and daughter last Sunday (5/21). We had a movie to watch and were in a bit of a hurry. The staff took our order promptly, food was delivered in short order and it was excellent. The Honey Walnut Prawns came with a quick pickled Jicama that was interesting, innovative and really added to the dish. We also had pork fried rice and sweet & sour chicken, and an order of pot stickers.

No disappointments here - local suggestions still prevail

By Chris D |

Upon arriving at the Maxwell Hotel, my folks and I asked for a decent place in the Queen Anne area, preferably Chinese. The receptionist recommended Uptown China, which was about a 10 minute stroll away. We arrived at the restaurant and were pleased to see that the majority of the patrons in the restaurant were of Chinese origin, which I think generally is a good sign for ethnic cuisine. Service was attentive and friendly The food did not disappoint at all. The soups were excellent, and all three of us enjoyed our entrees. I had some excellent sesame chicken, and the folks enjoyed their Mongolian Beef. Perhaps this restaurant was under new management. It could be perhaps that we were from the southeastern US (South Carolina and Florida) and are not used to west coast expectations. Whatever the situation, I'm honestly surprised that prior reviews of this place (in English) have been less than flattering. In a rare instance, I'm glad I didn't consult TripAdvisor beforehand, or else we wouldn't have gone there. Thanks to the Maxwell Hotel receptionist, we didn't miss out.

Worst Experience Ever

By Alex Hodschayan |

We ordered Uptown China for delivery. They had decent reviews online and we thought that we would give it a try. To being with, we were told that delivery would take about 30 minutes. Almost 2 hours later our food arrived. The delivery person refused to come upstairs to our apartment and insisted that we meet them around the block. When we got the food, we thought it smelled odd, but thought we would at least try it. The chicken was yellow on the inside, cold to the touch. We called to try and get a refund and they refused to even speak to us. Awful experience.

Easy to order via Yelp

By Trishyco |

We were able to to put a nice order together and have it delivered where we were staying. The food was tasty and it was easy! Perfect for a "Girl's Night In".

Pretty good food, well priced and nice servers.

By Canamgut |

It's what you would expect from a Chinese restraint like this. The decor isn't plush, but it is good food, good location, and fairly priced (40 for four of is to eat with an extra order of Lo mein.). Overall it's a good restraunt for everyone to go to. Would recommend to all my friends.

Great find!!

By Cindy R |

Very nice find…. Waitress was awesome!!! Kung pao chicken was the best! Orange chicken was second…General tsao came in last, it was just bland.

Horrible experience

By Sarah S |

Horrible experience ordering online! We ordered online directly through the website and saw that it would take 100 minutes. We thought that was long, but waited that amount of time. At 105 minutes we called to check on the status. The woman who answered the phone just said it was on its way, without getting any information from me, and hung up. We waited 20 more minutes, and called again. This time, she got our information, and said that she could not find the order. Then she hung up on us. We called back and said "why did you hang up on us?" She replied, "what do you want?". We had already paid for our order online! She then magically found our order, and said it would get there in 20-30 minutes. 45 minutes (2hr 50min total) later, we finally got our food. The food was average. It may be fine eating in. I do NOT recommend- especially ordering online.

Best Chinese in Seattle

By ReallyCool M |

I came with my two children, my husband, my sister and my brother in law, and we all agreed that this was the best Chinese food we love had in a very long time. We were seated right away, had quick service, and although our order was complicated we got everything we asked for. I tasted the orders of the rest of my group and I enjoyed everything they ordered. The owner came out and was very friendly when she greeted us afterword, and we all went home more than satisfied. We will gladly come back again the next time we have an opportunity, and we recommend that you do too.

Very solid/safe Chinese food

By wjkowalski |

I would rate this as a very safe "go to" restaurant to which you would go with both Asian and Western friends. It's definitely upscale from the divey places in the International District, but that safety also means that frisson of flavor and excitement is not there. I've never been disappointed in visiting here, and the owner often comes around to check on your happiness (which to me is a positive sign), but my taste buds have also never happy-danced in raptures. This is simply top notch westerner-safe Chinese comfort food. It deserves 3.5 stars, and I'll push it to 4 when I visit some time and I get a happy-dance going.

We don’t have Your Cat!

By Ravjad |

We love humour, especially when it is a spoof on biased opinions and prejudices. So, a short walk from Hilton Homewood Suites in Queen Anne, got us to Uptown China Restaurant with its blackboard on the street. Brilliant! My kind of place so we ventured in. It is a simple restaurant with friendly service, ample options on menu and staff who are knowledgeable and willing to engage and discuss options. We ordered two dishes - lamb fried rice and chicken with cashew nuts. Lamb with 3 spicy and chicken as 4, 5 being highest. They were delicious. And servings were such that we took left overs back to the hotel. An establishment that we can return to when next in neighbourhood.

Very friendly family place

By .BettyBoopClaire |

We found this Chinese near our hotel. Very friendly place. The owner a beautiful lady was chatty and picked our food for us. It was delicious and plenty of choices. Also we had a couple of bottles of wine. The family and friends had a great evening in this restaurant.

A Seattle staple for me

By Michael P |

I used to live across the street from Uptown China. So, this place was a gem to me. Every time I visit Seattle I go back here for the pan fried noodles. There are a TON of great restaurants in lower Queen Anne, and this one isn't really in a highly visible area. But, it is super. The menu looks quite extensive, but I always get the pan fried noodles. They're delicious! The interior is nice and the service is decent. The takeout portions weren't skimpy, either. It's a great place for locals. But, it's also a REALLY short walk from the monorail/Space Needle for those looking for some good Chinese food.

Hot and Sour Soup a Winner!

Uptown China claims they have the best Hot and Sour Soup in Seattle, and I have to agree. Although I don’t live in Washington State, their soup rivals the best I’ve ever had. I also enjoyed General Tso’s Chicken and Mongolian Beef. The excellent food matches the service. Cocktails are generous and prepared from locally sourced alcohol.

STAY AWAY

Morally bankrupt...should be ashamed of what they charge for small, cold portions. I am embarrassed I got ripped off.

Feeling like Chinese? Here's a good place.

Food: The food was good. Nothing that blows my mind but I am in no way dissatisfied with the food. If you feel like having Chinese for dinner with not other particulars, this is a good choice. There have a decent amount of food and there will be at least one dish you like and something new as well. Service: The servers were very good at being attentive and the waits for seating and food arriving weren't long at all. The dishes were cleared and replaced efficiently and at the right time (i.e. not before we had finished). Location: Not hard to get to but parking might be a challenge. There was some parking behind the building but not enough for a full restaurant.

My favorite here is the Singapore Noodles, love them. The rest of the menu is respectable and I order delivery here every now and again.

We walked down to this restaurant because it was a nice night. Very friendly people. Very good and filling. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Very good authentic Chinese food. Great service and food came out hot. Bring an appetite, the portions are not small. Really enjoyed our meal after a long day of walking the city.
