Breakfast with a smile...made by Tammy

By ReisenderV |

I stayed in the hotel for a couple of days. The buffet was included in the price of our rooms. That is fortunate because it is expensive if it is not included. The offered food was delicious and the service was outstanding! Tammy was our favorite server and made our breakfast a perfect start in the day.

Inspired

By Pietro620 |

Visited Urban with my wife and had a fabulous experience. The meat and cheese platter was a great appetizer and the New York Strip dinner that followed was one of the best steaks (with mushrooms!) that I've ever had. Diego took great care of us. We highly recommend this place. Bon appetit!

An awesome grilled cheese sandwich

By Txpoet |

This is one of my new favorite places inside the Westin Hotel at the Domain. I invited some friends for lunch there just this week and they loved it too. My first lunch experience there was fantastic. With some friends, I tried the Smoked Brisket Mac N Cheese ($12) for an appetizer-awesome. My entree was a Grilled Cheese & Tomato Bisque ($12). It's the description that got me: "fried green tomato, Brazos Valley smoked gouda and white cheddar, boursin spread." They didn't even describe the tomato bisque, which was great, this coming from a person who is not a huge fan of tomato soups in general. It also came with fries, which I substituted for truffle french fries for $2 more--and they taste really unique! One of my friends got the Kale and Scottish Salmon ($16) and I was truly envious so beautiful was the presentation. Prices aren't cheap, the prices above are luncheon menu. Dinner will cost more. Another reviewer mentioned portion sizes: I found the soup and salad combo I ordered to be quite enough. Some items, such as the fish tacos a friend ordered, were less substantial. If you have a hearty appetite, you will want to get an appetizer or dessert. Now, I come from a restaurant background and the Urban does seriously need to train its waitstaff. I've had two different servers, both of whom didn't bring condiments with coffee or spoons, which is a strange error to make except if they were never instructed at all on how to serve coffee and didn't drink it themselves. Also, one server told me that I could have either the soup or the truffle fries with the grilled cheese sandwich and she was in error, for the menu said the grilled cheese And soup came with truffle fries. When servers make errors with table settings and the menu, you can bet the training is very brief indeed. This sorely irritates me, that the restaurant food is such high quality and this small problem of training the staff hinders the dining experience somewhat. Mostly, the food was too good to care for long about the coffee issues. However, this would be a five-star review were it not for service, for the food had no flaw. Attention should be paid to providing servers with the best training possible, so that service and food are one smooth package. The ambiance is nice, the restaurant does not get too loud, and so far is perhaps too new to be packed during lunch. Reservations weren't required. I don't expect this to continue as more discover their menu. The impression that stays the most in my mind about the restaurant is that the food surpasses anything I expect from a hotel.

Unusually good food in a hotel setting

By Dianne W |

We didn't know what to expect when staying at the Westin Hotel and the front desk highly recommended the Urban Grill. The staff was very friendly, the food was excellent and the live music in the bar carried into the restaurant making the evening even more enjoyable. Food was cooked to perfection and you can see the chefs prepare your meal from the dining room. Will definitely eat here again.

Good variety

By Ch C |

We tried the Buffett on our last day there before checking out. The price for buffett was $19.50 but considering the variety, we thought it was worthwhile. The buffett includes juices, coffee, pastries, waffles, pancakes, cereals, and omelettes. I loved the yogurt with fresh berries, eggs, waffle, and OJ. My hubby loved the omelette with his OK, waffles, fruits, eggs, and bacon.

Stellar seafood in Austin!!

By Northloopta |

Start to finish wonderful food. Totally surprised with gulf shrimp and mussels ordered on a whim. Beats anywhere "downtown/east side" Well taken care of.

Impeccable Restaurant and Service

By mrren_21 |

I visited Urban for lunch today and had a fantastic experience from the time I walked. I had a savory chicken dish which was a great portion size for a good price. The prompt and pleasant server Angela Barry was knowledgeable of the menu and very nice which made the experience even better. I would and will recommend this place to others.

Great date night

By Preston T |

We had dinner here for a date night, not our typical style but I was very impressed. The service was excellent, the food was tasty and my steak cooked just right. Wine pairing was perfect, overall an excellent meal. We will definitely be back.

Great Serives

By james l |

The Urban an American Grill is located in the Westin Austin Hotel. Good food and even greater service.

Mother's Day Brunch

By rrollen53 |

Great time. Food was exceptional and well laid out. The mothers were treated like royalty complete with Roses, Mimosas and live music.

poor value

By Summer |

We went there for dinner, since it was the few that stayed open on the Christmas Day. Like many restaurants inside fancy hotels, this place (inside a Westin) has ok food and fancy price (expensive!). We had three entrees… one of them did not even have sufficient quantity to satisfy an average person. Not recommended.

Fabulous food and service

By Mmohnac |

Even though the Grill was crowded we were treated like celebrities. Service was professional but not bothersome. Our meals were 5 star.

Good Food and open late

By tiffben |

Restaurant is located inside of the Westin. I was staying at the hotel and was looking for something to eat around 10pm. Walked in and was seated immediately. However service was a bit slow. I ordered the kobe burger with truffle fries, it was awesome! I also ordered a Texas Martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. The drink was just ok, the blue cheese in the olives was of poor quality and ruined the flavor of the cocktail. Overall, good food with great décor and atmosphere.

Wish it wasn't soo pricey

By azure88 |

I'm not sure why hotels decide to have really expensive breakfasts. If I'm on a trip I don't want to blow my budget with breakfast. They had a breakfast buffet and we went on a Saturday while staying at the hotel, $50.00 for 2 after gratuity (and we had a discount of $10.00), the a la carte prices were not much more reasonable either. Too bad, if they were more reasonably priced I would have eaten more meals there as the breakfast food was good.

Good food

By takemetouring |

The food is good. The selection is not very wide however. The prices could be a bit lower. The bar serves a wide variety of beverages.

Disappointing

By reut01 |

There is good and there is bad regarding this place. We ordered a big breakfast which included a buffet, extra eggs/waffel/pancake, coffe and juice. The good: the variety of food was great, the service was nice, the place was specious and accepted kids. The bad: the food wasn't good at all. The eggs in the buffet, the pancake and the waffels weren't tasty, the bacon was soaked in grease (not in a good way). The breakfast costs about 20 dollars per person. In conclusion we were very disappointed.

Fantastic Mother's Day Lunch

By Suzy W |

We have been going to Urban since it opened and we love it. The food is consistently good and they change the menu every so often. It is a quiet place to enjoy a good meal and you can hear your table conversation. There was a Mother's Day buffet, which was just outstanding! Service is as good as the food. One of my favorite Austin restaurants and parking is never an issue.

Pork belly?

By kdye |

The 'pork belly carbonara' with 'pork belly, pea shoots, pecorino' turned out to be pasta lightly garnished with bacon pieces and spinach. I guess bacon is one form of pork belly - but this was not the pork belly I was looking forward to.

Great Resturant and awesome service

By Irish_Luxe |

This Resturant is in a great location ( The Domain) and the food is excellent!!

Huge disappointment

By Meredith C |

My boyfriend and I went to urban on Christmas night for dinner. We didn't realize it was in the Westin hotel, though that wasn't a big deal. The fixed price menu wasn't all that impressive and the food was just not good. I ordered the prime rib which was just a sad, unseasoned, not seared, cold piece of meat. The desserts obviously came from the freezer, and the soup (a butternut squash bisque) was too sweet and also cold. When the best part of a four-course meal is the salad and the wine, you know you're paying too much. I wish it had been better, and I'm guessing it probably would've been on any other night other than Christmas. It just felt like there was no love being put into the food.

Business Lunch

By Russ L |

Great place for a business lunch - roomy and great service. Love the exhibition cooking and restaurant finishes.

Great Breakfast, Great Deal, Kids eat Free.

By Derrick S |

I love breakfast buffets and consider myself an expert. Urban does a really good job and you can order anything you want in addition to what's on the buffet. Highly recommend for the $20/person. Kids eat free.

Huge Disappointment

By MC F |

I hate to post negative reviews, especially when the service was terrific. But, the bottom line is, only 1 out of 6 diners completely enjoyed their meals. The major problem: the oil used to fry the chicken, french fries, and to sautee other sides was OLD. I took a bite of the greens that were served with my sister's chicken and waffles, and I had to spit them out. I read a review written by someone else who mentioned the disgusting taste of the oil. I'm just appalled that the staff didn't taste any of that food before serving it. After having thoroughly enjoyed breakfast here the prior year, we were simply shocked. One guest noted that McDonalds has such strict rules about changing their oil - there really is no excuse for a restaurant like Urban to cook in OLD DIRTY OIL. I, myself, ordered the ribeye and it, too, disappointed. Temperature was perfect, but it was underseasoned. The service was fantastic, and the only reason for 2 stars. Amby was excellent.

Small menu but everything is great

By Dorrie9 |

We had a pizza, mac-n-cheese, fish tacos, a basket of fries, and a chicken dish I can't recall the name of. Everything was top-notch and tasted delicious.

Breakfast and Sunday Brunch

By RabbitSam |

Breakfast buffet was great. Very good ham and cheese omelet. Sunday brunch buffet was also very good. Mainly breakfast items, but there was a salad and some great bbq ribs.

Great lunch spot

By Dana nightly |

Staff and service were awesome! Very attentive and was not overcrowded. The chicken club was a great choice recommended by the waitress. Will definitley be back!

Awesome Food

By Texan5169 |

I had a burger and my son had grilled Salmon. The food was as good as any I've ever eaten. Both the burger and Salmon. Very tasty.

Glimpses of Great but sadly Average at Best

By Jay F |

Went on Valentine's and had a Prix fixe three course dinner. The disappointment with this experience began when they seated us in a very exposed table in a near empty restaurant rather than a cozy booth. Began with a decent berry sorbet with raspberries and Prosecco. My wife had the potato soup which was bland and dominated by a scorched taste. I had a fennel, orange, goat cheese and parsley salad that was promising but suffered from a thin tired citrus vinaigrette. For main courses we had a chicken roulade over polenta and spinach that was nicely executed but was a bit bland and lacked zing. The pasta carbonara ravioli over bacon beets was very interesting and arguably the best dish but was appetizer sized and the pea pods were near raw. The panna cotta was well flavored but poorly executed using way too much gelatin. Wine prices are excessive. Overall uneven and disappointing. Perhaps they are better on a regular evening but we are unlikely to learn for wE do not plan to return.

good burgers and mashed potatoes

By Chaitanya D |

good food and ambiance; excellent service; a great restaurant that's easy to get to and has good food. i will definitely eat here again.

Great food

By Becky C |

The food was exceptional. We ate here on Thanksgiving and very much enjoyed the special menu. The price was very reasonable based on what we had to eat and the quality of the food. The server was nice but the service wasn't as quick as you would have expected.

Outstanding

By Andy B |

Great decor, nice vibe, and the food was VERY good. (Very fresh fruit, would love to know where they got it!) But the real highlight was our server, Angie Berry. Wow...she didn't stick to the corporate playbook, she accommodated our every request with a great attitude and smile. Even thought the buffet had just closed 5 min before she was able to scramble together what we would have ordered. We will be back just because of her!

Better than most hotel breakfasts

By Erica R |

My husband and I stayed at The Westin this weekend and upgraded our room to the Executive Level which included complimentary breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised that it was indeed a full breakfast with hot entrees which included made to order pancakes, waffles, and omelets not to mention the fresh fruit and turkey sausages. There was something for everybody at this buffet. They even had proscuitto and cheese. Waitress was good as well.

Urban bar

By Mark G |

I had friends come into town and met them at the Urban bar. The staff was friendly and the bar was clean with a classy decor. But my favorite Parr of the evening had to be the live music. I will definitely be back.

Delicious breakfast with delightful service!

By lisalou216 |

Recently enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the Westin Austin- there were numerous choices for healthy food and my omelet was delicious. We had a large bowl of strawberries, blueberries, and fresh pineapple for the table. Our server was fantastic as well!

Where we ate while staying at the Westin

By Ken G |

Some very interesting dishes. Staff are trained at the nearby Cordon Bleu Academy, affiliated with the French one.

Vegetarians - stay away

By swamisanto |

It was a small group dinner with a fixed menu for us. I was told this is were chef specialities are served!! but I had only 1 option for vegetarians and when i tried to see if they can prepare something else and they mentioned they cannot do much!!! imagine being at a special dinner and chef cannot fix you a veg meal?? finally i was given quinoa and boiled asparagus!! we don't need a chef to prepare that!

Walking Distance to Other Restaurants

By tblpastir |

This restaurant is in the Westin Austin at the Domain. The food is inconsistent visit to visit because every 6 months the chef is moved to another Westin or Sheraton. On the plus side, there is always hope the next chef will be better. And a year ago it was. Excellent food, excellent chef. Now, the dinner menu is unappealing except for Amy's Mexican vanilla bean ice cream. Luckily The Domain offers many restaurants just a short walk or ride away. Before you leave, however, DO stop at the bar. Best bar keep ever. He remembered us from a year ago and if your drink isn't on the menu, he can still make it for you as well or better than you can make it at home. His knowledge and creativity are as large as his hospitality and charm. A true gem in a dismal food court.

Great breakfast!

By Lufdoc |

The Domain is an upscale shopping and dining area in Austin, and this restaurant, in the Westin Domain, follows that lead. Great breakfast buffet, or you can order delightful breakfast entrees like corned beef hash (with FRESH grilled Brussels sprouts, several colors of potatoes, etc.). Lattes, cappuccinos, etc. available as well.

Company Happy Hour

By Denise W |

We were invited to a company happy hour. The food was lukewarm at best. We did not eat dinner but the happy hour appetizers were nothing to write home about.

Great Breakfast!

By Joel S |

Enjoyed breakfast everyday I was at the Westin. Good food and good coffee. Very nice atmosphere. Could eat there everyday!

Away from busy shopping and dine in luxury

By Paulwang127 |

After a day shopping at the Domain we always like to take a little walk away from the busy area and enjoy a nice warm delicious dinner. The Urban is located by the Westin so parking is a breeze. The lobby is very posh and modern and the restaurant are set up with nice contemporary furnishings. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the wait staff are very professional. The menu contains variety of choices and we were overall pleased withe the quality of the food and service.

Business and family

By houmedd |

Great food and ambiance. Very convenient; first we spent sometime at the bar and easily move into the dinning area.

Christmas 2017

By rebeccasharon |

Such a wonderful variety on the buffet today for Christmas with the family! The food and atmosphere helped us feel so pampered. I especially loved the stuffed tomatoes. Such a unique and exciting new surprise for me today!

Great breakfast

By Mr M |

At here yesterday and everyone, even kids enjoyed what was in the buffet. It was about $19 for the wife and I, and kids ate off our plates. Not something we will do often, but it was all very friendly and the staff a real credit to The Westin.

The perfect beginning and end to all The Domain has to offer

By miriamj_jones |

Arriving early before check-in, we grabbed a quick bite to eat. Who knew it would be the best Kale salad in Texas? The staff was so friendly and made our stay so much fun. In addition to all the other great area restaurants, we ate at the hotel every day. It was that good. Can't wait to return. Juanita makes a lemon drop martini that is everything!

An unexpected surprise from a hotel restaurant

By Browncoat_11 |

We normally shy away from hotel restaurants, but the thought of Friday night Austin traffic made us "settle" for Urban on our last visit to the city. What a pleasant surprise! Our server, Kristie, was absolutely charming. Both Kristie's attention and the amazing cheese pizza on the kids' menu won over our littlest picky eater. The calamari appetizer was delicious and the fish tacos were generously sized and delicious. The mac and cheese with peas and bacon would have been better if it were seasoned and the steak was cooked perfectly. The kids' menu was extremely well-priced, contrary to our expectations. We also had breakfast there the next day and it was great. The restaurant was very crowded, but the staff was working hard and no one ever ran out of food or drinks. The buffet included fresh blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries instead of the sad little fruit plate you see at other hotels. The biscuits, eggs, and pancakes were also delicious.

Don't bother!

By Linda S |

After a very long day of travel, we ended up at this hotel restaurant. I should have known that it was not going to be good given the number of people in the restaurant. I ordered the ribeye which was dry and tasteless. The crispy vegetables were beyond recognition. It was truly a disappointing evening! Word to the wise.... Walk across the street and go some place else.

In the Domain..perfect.

By Christal W |

Last night we went here to Urban for our anniversary dinner, kids in tow. I never even knew it was there in the Westin until our friend told us about it. Lately, the Domain has been our go to place as we are taking a break from the whole downtown thing. Urban was perfectly chill. Great food. My husband had the filet that was cooked exactly med rare and was happy to see a great selection of wine. My scallops were delicious! Each bite had avocado, sauteed tomato, arugula and super tasty pickled cantaloupe. (first time having that and it was a perfect fit for the dish!) Kids loved theirs, too. Especially, the Banana Fosters Bread Pudding that they so generously gave us for our anniversary! We devoured it! I love that spiced caramel sauce! The ice cream was Amy's! Yay, local! Diego, the manager, was very professional and definitely made us feel like he was there to take care of anything we needed to make the night special. Roberto, our server, was on it. Very friendly and never missed a beat. I'm so glad we found this place. I'm in the Domain a lot for lunchtime, too, so I will definitely be visiting again and trying more of the menu that we didn't get a chance to try.

Great food, Seasoned Well

The food at Urban was good and seasoned very well. The staff is friendly and the setting is nice as well.

Just Awesome!

By Rick C |

I had the pleasure of having dinner at this awesome place “ Urban, An American grill” Service provided by Alexandros was excellent. Drinks were top notch! Salad, steak and dessert were to die for, Seriously!! My new favorite grill.

Good food

Ate late night. Food was prepared fresh and very good. The waitress was able to tailor the meal to our specific taste.

All American with a Unique Twist

By Philsgreat |

What a great dining experience. Staff was exceptionally pleasant from the get go. Even before we walked in, the hostess offered to help upgrade our selfie to a full body photo. The ambiance and lighting was just perfect for my girlfriend and I. The decor, elegant, modern, boldly warm and the soft music made conversation romantic. I gave Urban a 5 right? So I must comment on the cleanliness of this fine establishment and prompt table service. Now the menu. Very interesting...a proudly american food offering with a unique twist. My girlfriend ordered the cold smoked filet mignon with green beans and mashed potatoes. This flavorful steak is fully grilled, with an infusion of smoke through a hole punctured cellophane cover that produces a unique taste all within the meat. She loved it. I had "The Champ" pizza. Awesome! Just get it. I even ate the crust and trust me when I say for me to eat the crust says a lot about how delicious this pizza was. I'm telling you, GET THIS PIZZA! Also the drinks were good + they give a very healthy serving size of wine in a glass (at least more than we remember at other restaurants). Also we thought the actual menu itself looked pretty cool. It went along with the look of the rest of the place. Over all, this place is a must try. If you are ever in Austin check it out and make sure you come back on here and tell me how right I was about this place. Good job urban :)

Awesome food killer service

By Jonathan P |

Steak was AWESOME and cooked perfectly. Service was prompt...really the only standout restaurant in the Domain.

Great place for a quick bite and drink

By tbennettstmartin |

I had the opportunity to eat twice in the bar area while in Austin for a conference. Both times I had great food and great service. Reasonably priced for a hotel bar/restaurant and a huge selection of cocktail, wine and beer options.

Amazing Breakfast, Amazing Service

By RyanL99 |

Attentive, thoughtful service. Gorgeous breakfast buffet. Really impressive. I can only assume that other meals are just as good.

Shout Out

By Sharron T |

Last Sunday, March 17, I have breakfast at Urban– American Grill at the Westin – Austin at the Domain. Shout out to my waitress, Tammy. She was amazing! She was cheerful, efficient, and attentive. She understands customer service. Way to go, Tammy!

great hotel fare!

By Vanessa R |

Food served quickly, and it was excellent; most times hotel food disappoints, but this restaurant went above and beyond to ensure that you were satisfied whether it was a quick snack with fruit (delicious) to more elegant fare.

Good hotel bar food

By andrewpderry |

The Urban is part of the Westin Hotel at the Domain. I was staying at the hotel so I decided to eat the Urban. It's really American style bar food, with a restaurant attached. I have to say that it was better than most hotel food. I ordered a steak, and the maitre d' was not happy with it. He came over to tell me, gave me an appetizer while I waited and had the steak re-cooked. That's pretty good service!

Great Breakfast

By PatEquack |

That's all we had there was breakfast. Everything was great. Went to the buffet. We did have room service and really enjoyed the omelets. Service was good, had live music which was nice.

Great meal at Westin

By Brandon H |

Service level high and food was excellent. Entertained large group and Westin staff did a great job.

Great breakfast buffet.

By Maryland0505 |

If you are staying at the Westin, eat breakfast here. Service was great as was food quality. Price was around $17 for the buffet and there were outlets next to most tables to keep your stuff charged up for the day.

Pleasantly Surprised

By Barbara-In-Austin |

We recently used a Groupon in this hotel restaurant on a Friday evening. We were met with a pleasant atmosphere in the lobby with live music and people quietly checking in and out of the hotel. The restaurant staff was very welcoming and friendly. The food was quite good and the prices considered moderate for Austin. I had the "special" which was a white fish topped with shrimp and included cheese flavored fries -- delicious and eye pleasing.

The food was amazing absolutely amazing

By danniellebenford |

I would encourage people to go and eat at the restaurant. The food was amazing, good flavor and the Salmon was very fresh and juicy.

Great Food Great Ambiance Great Service

By alm751 |

Really liked this restaurant. I was there for three hours with a friend whom I had not seen for a long time. The waitress was very courteous and did not intrude on our conversation. The food was outstanding. We both had salads and loved them! Definitely would return next time I am in Austin.

Superb!

By love_4_travel4ever |

We purchased a restaurant.com and the reviews are all very good and I must say it is all on point We had a pizza for the crazy sicilian pizza for an appetizer and it was excellent! For dinner I had the chicken fried steak, very different, the flavor was awesome, I do wish there had been a bit more sauce but that is a personal preference, the cornbread puree was awesome and the crispy brussels were divine. My husband had the veal & kobe meatloaf, against very different but it was delicious. Overall a great experience, we were able to walk right it, there was hardly anyone there. Plus the lobby had a little band so it was nice to just relax and enjoy our evening. We will definitely return!

Great breakfast!

By snowbunny16 |

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the buffet breakfast with made to order omelets, waffles and pancakes. Delicous food and amazing service.

Tasty local fare and friendly service.

By R T |

We ate here many times during our visit to Austin. The restaurant has great ambiance with an open kitchen. The chef works on the patron side of the kitchen overseeing the kitchen as well as mingling with the tables ensuring everything is delicious! They have a small yet diverse menu where you can get a hamburger, salmon and everything in between. The mac-n-cheese loaded with bacon and peas was outstanding. All of our meals were tasty and the service was friendly and fast. The breakfast buffet was delicious as well, you place your omelet and pancake order with your waitperson and they deliver it while you are at the buffet. I recommend the breakfast tacos. This restaurant caters to everyone from families to couples. I would return time and again.

Average

By Diana S |

Two business associates and I ate here during a trip to Austin. The ambiance is nice. The food is good. Service was ok. Overall nice, average meal. Few gluten free options.

Tasty

Make sure you try the Kobe burger. It's very tasty and a great price. The fries (chips) are also fantastic.

Valentine’s Day

Nice night out- food, Service, and love music were all highlights of the evening. Roses were a nice touch.

Good food, but horrible service

By txbatgirl |

We ate here for lunch during a conference. It took 40 minutes for our food to arrive and the restaurant was half full. Everyone else around waited just as long for their food and the table next to us ordered from the "express lunch" menu. I saw plenty of wait staff and cooks, so I don't know what the problem was, but I wouldn't advise eating here if you have to be somewhere after lunch,

Great food

By JamesBondLosAngeles |

Went for dinner here and was delighted with the food. I started out with a $5 meatball special which was baked meatballs in tomato sauce with cheese and wonderful. I followed it up with the scallops and grits. This is not a choice that I would make, but the waiter recommended it, I tried it, and I would go back again just to eat it. The grits were very creamy and smooth, and the scallops were perfectly seared. I highly recommend this restaurant.

One of our worst dining experiences

By mellykayi |

My family of 8 came to Austin for Kooza on Sunday. We decided to spend the night at the Westin and eat dinner at the Urban since it had really great reviews. We were the only other table in the restaurant at 8pm. Our waiter was friendly, but... 2 of the 4 salads were never delivered. He disappeared and when we asked about them, he said he never heard them ordered. One of our party cancelled her salad at that time and he said he'd bring the other one quickly. Awhile passed and dinners came out. We asked where the missing salad was and he said he had forgotten. 6 meals arrived out of 8. Awhile passed again before a "manager" came to address the situation. He spoke to only my husband and said it would be coming out soon. We speculated that only one would probably arrive and my chicken and dumplings would continue to be missing. We were not wrong. One dinner was brought, everyone else was half done. Again the manager came over to ask about things and I asked where in the world was my dinner. He said it would be out soon! It was then that I let him have a piece of my mind. I told him not to even bring anything else, as I had lost interest. Later a busboy brought my chicken and I asked him to just box it up. The manager came again and said he would be comping a big part of the bill. We sat and sat and had to ask to please have our bill. After all that, he took off one salad and my chicken and dumplings I never touched as well as my husbands that came half way through the meal! The highly rated chicken and dumplings were extremely salty and no one finished them. The salmon was the only good thing. Sooooo disappointed. So sad

Barflies

By Mike B |

Although food and staff are amazing , they can't get their bar flies under control . I have been eating there for 2 months and get constantly attacked by small flies at the bar. on a bad day they show up in the restaurant as well. gross!

Mouth watering 5 star steaks!

By trixietwoguns |

Do yourself a favor and order the steak. They’re always cooked to perfection. You will not be disappointed. Salads are fantastic as well. The smoked paprika dressing is out of this world. Great atmosphere. Outstanding service. Quite possibly the best restaurant in the domain.

Excellent Thanksgiving specials two years in a row !

By angelahpedersen |

Food was amazing , with a dish to satisfy every member of the family . This is not your typical hotel restaurant .

Needs Improvement

By J. A |

Unlike my initial visit to Urban in 2010, which blew my socks off, this time I was very disappointed. The menu lacked originality, the portions were insane (for kid's meals), and the food was edible but nothing out of the ordinary. If we weren't staying at The Westin, we wouldn't have eaten here, & next time will make other arrangements. On the bright side, the staff was fabulous!

Make sure your diary is cold

By zzzzzz95 |

We ate at the the urban and american grill, we were told that the room temperature cream we were served which was pulled from another table by the server, had been sitting on that table without refrigeration for 1.5 hours. We requested a new one, which the server reluctantly did and then over billed us twice. This restaurant (with the breakfast vouchers), bills sometimes $0 for the included breakfast, and other times $17 depending on the server and day, despite ordering the exact same breakfast. The issues were reluctantly fixed with no apology. Some servers are good, but half the ones that were servicing us were not attentive. Much of the food was excessively greasy.

Urban grill Restaurant at Westin Hotel Domain

By Mercedes U |

The atmosphere is beautiful! However if you expect a good service from the waitress it is better change the restaurant!! The service was slow, inefficient and discourteous!!! The bar food is not covered!! Flies around it. Very dissatisfied!!!

Surprising hotel chain restaurant

By Leslie M |

Our daughter was off with a friend and we just didn't want to cook last Saturday so we decided to check out this restaurant. My pizza with salami, pork belly, garlic and picked onion was wonderful. My husband enjoyed his kale and Scottish salmon salad. The side salad I requested was huge. We share the bourbon and bacon brownie. The chocolate overpowered both of those ingredients although my husband thought the bacon made it salty. We'll definitely return.

Tasty and served hot

By amortrvl |

Urban has a few entree selections that were interesting and tasty. Some of their foods were locally sourced and I like to support this type of locavore mentality. I especially enjoyed their creative quinoa "polenta" dish. Great comfort food. Our meal was also served piping hot, which I always appreciate. Nice casual atmosphere and good service as well.

Best NY Strip!

You can't go wrong ordering this strip! Tender, perfectly prepared, and great service! Laura was amazing as my server! Ask for her, she is a gem!

The interiors have great ambiance. The food a bit pricey but not bad. A great place for a dinner date or just a hangout social with friends. I tried the Kobe Burger, a 15+ dollar burger. Not bad, it has fried bacon inside the burger. Not too many people dining on a Friday night. I actually came to listen to the live music, but you have to go out into the lobby for that. The service was good.

Christmas Day Dinner

By kimshe2 |

Having read reviews I thought this would be a great place to dine on Christmas Day. Their website did not mention a Prix fix menu for the holiday, nor did the person I confirmed our reservation with on Christmas Eve. I have learned to ask now. We arrived and were seated for our reservation. Menus placed, but server lacking for quite a while. The restaurant was not that busy nor did they appear overwhelmed by diners. We asked if the regular menu was available, it was not. We were told we could get the bar menu in the bar. We opted to stay and understood that it was a holiday and that they were trying to work with minimal staff to permit more to spend the holiday with their family. First course, one option - Butternut Soup. 2nd course - two salad options which were both good. Serving size very small and inconsistent among the five of us. 3rd course - four options:Prime Rib, Stuffed Quail, a fish dish with shrimp corndog, Roasted Cauliflower Risotto. 4th course - pecan pie with ice cream (really a pecan tart) or Chocolate Bomb (which was a brownie with ice cream and not the picture on their website). Bottom line, food was good. Service lacked immensely. Expected much better. Very sad to see a busy, busy kitchen dishing out food to the bar patrons while we sat and waited and waited. Wrong entree served at one point and oh yes, the entrees arrived before the 2nd course! Next time, if we are dining in the area, we would opt for the bar!

Soured on Customer Service

By swimster82 |

I went here with my wife and another couple. The ambiance was excellent and the menu selection was impressive for a hotel restaurant. I ordered the peach glazed pork chops which were as expected however the cheese empenada that came with it was cold - freezer cold. I told the waitress and she acted mildly apologetic and said she would let the cook know. Nothing more was said and I cook see the kitchen and cook the entire time. For this, I will not be returning.

Notably Good

By pdSixty8 |

The restaurant was closed to seating but still could order from the lobby bar. I ordered both breakfast and lunch for the days I stayed at the Westin Austin at The Domain. I enjoyed dining at the bar and takeout by the pool. The All American Breakfast and Classic Eggs Benedict were both very good and enjoyed it with my Starbucks coffee. For lunch I enjoyed the Pablano Queso & Chips and Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and both were tasty, but the queso was really good and ordered several times. Overall I was happy with the meals and the service was great as well.

excellent service and food

By scteacher64 |

I know hotel food costs more but this was worth it. Breakfast always had fresh squeezed orange juice and starbucks coffee. Food was fresh and cooked to order. Service was fabulous as out waitress even put a couple of extra pastries in my to go box. We had food from the bar menu at night and it had a nice tex-mex touch. The tacos were the best. Even when they were busy they had enough staff to make sure everyone was taken care of without an excessive wait. That is something you do not see often anymore.

New Year's Eve

By Techxn |

My wife and I were looking for a convenient place in north Austin. Located in the Domain, easy parking. This was a set menu for NYE......nicely done, attentive service, good food. Servings were a bit fast, felt a little rushed for a expensive evening out. Portions were generous.....Beef Tenderloin was cooked perfectly for me. Chocolate cake was awesome.

Very nice for a hotel restaurant

By Penny N |

The four adults and one teenager in our party enjoyed our dinner at urban an american grill. When we arrived around 6 pm on a Friday night the dining room was nearly empty. By the time we finished our meal about 7:30 pm almost all of the tables were occupied. The menu was varied enough for our tastes. The food was very good and nicely presented. The price was mid-range. The grill was visible from our table so we were able to see a little of the action in the kitchen. Service was very good. The entrance to this restaurant is through the lobby for the Westin at The Domain. Parking was easy. We had a reservation but we think you could get seated without one if you arrive as early as we did.

Yummy Burger!

By Alex W |

Was there for lunch on 6/30. Had a great meal with my family. The food was really good! My daughters enjoyed their pizza and burger. I had to try the burger and well. It was recommended by the staff. I added grilled jalapeños. I was not disappointed. Burger was cooked perfectly and the jalapeños were a great choice. I will be back..... make sure to try the bread pudding for dessert as well!

Loved the breakfasts

By FanofHockey |

A very nice breakfast buffet, improved by the offer of freshly made waffles, omelettes and pancakes. The full and plentiful buffet included cereals, oatmeal, fruits, yogurts, breads, and eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, and other items. And service was friendly, efficient, and pleasant.

Not actually open - can get menu items from the bar

By BrianB32931 |

bar staff is trying, food ok but the restaurant should be open at a "Category 6" hotel in the chain.

Good spot in the morning for coffee

By Yogi459 |

I was very pleased with Urban. I ate dinner and breakfast there and was not disappointed. Excellent hotel restaurant.

Great choice of food

By sumellor |

There was ample choice of food, something for whatever mood you are in. I had salmon and it was perfect. The service was perfect and not intrusive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant even if we were not staying at the hotel.

Expected more

By Stacey S |

We ordered three small plates (appetizers) to share between the two of us along with some drinks. The Burrata cheese was yummy. The Wagyu meatballs were OK. The Buffalo Cauliflower Bites came out not only cold but felt chilled, as if they had just come out of the fridge. The waiter was unapologetic and asked if we wanted the chef to try again or just take it off. We decided to just take them off the bill. We paid $106 including tip for two appetizers, two glasses of wine, one cocktail and a beer. No apology. No comp. The best thing about the experience was the martini. Will not be back. Lots of great restaurants in that area.

Great Food, Great Service!

I was staying at the Westin on business and had breakfast every day during my stay. I had both the buffet and ordered from the menu. Food was great, fresh and made to order. The service was awesome! Great start to the day.

Business Lunch

By ndmny |

Attended a large business meeting here and despite being on the main dining floor, it was great. The servers were quick and quiet. Our group had a pick& choose menu with set items which can be arranged with the restaurant if you have a regular meeting. Nothing was over the top but it was perfect for the meeting.

PRICEY BUT EXCELLENT

By Raul J |

The Urban closes rather late at night and is therefore perfect for anyone arriving at the end of the day. The restaurant offers primarily Southwestern fare. Highly recommended.

Terrible experience, subpar food and svc

By Texas23 |

Worst experience ever and big waste of time and money. ... Wish we didn't have to rate it at all. We ate here last night (Sun., May 28, 2017). We were a table of 3. The waitress took more than 15 mins to come take our order after seating us. There were only 3 other tables with people, one of which had already ordered before we arrived. She took orders at the 2 tables seated after ours, even though our table was right next to her station. When she finally came, she put on forced smile when we told her that we had cards to get 2 of our meals free -- comped to us from our last visit at the Westin at the Domain (that's another story in and of itself). We ordered three well done 14oz New York strip steak dinners and one BYOB burger to go. It took 30 mins for them to bring out our dinner. During this time the waitress never came over to check on us or offer anything additional. By the time the food arrived we were hungry and nearly frozen. Not only was it pouring outside but the inside temperature was freezing -- not at all comfortable. 2 of the 3 steaks were NOT done in the middle. And no surprise, it was the 2 free steaks. The asparagus on 2 of the plates was over cooked and the garlic green beans on the third plate tasted like wax. After waiting another 5 mins for the waitress to return we finally flagged her down and asked them if they could redo the steaks and the asparagus and substitute Mac and cheese for 1 of the plates. At this point, our mom was disgusted and decided to return to her room. So we asked them to box up everything to go once they'd finished cooking the steaks. After waiting another 30 mins or so, they brought out our plates. We checked the middle of the steaks and the burger. They seemed done at the time. But once we got to our room and started eating we found other sections that weren't cooked -- despite their own warning in the menu about eating raw or undercooked meats. Furthermore, the meat was swimming in liquid, was somewhat charred and fatty. (Note: it takes skill to cook meat until it's well done and not char it or make it dry. Obviously the chef did not have that skill.) They peaked the mac and cheese with the steak. So it was also sitting in the liquid (which was a dumb thing for them to have done). The mac and cheese tasted like it was made with sour milk (and was basically inedible). The new mashed potatoes were dry and sticky. The burger we got for our dad was dry and had no flavor. Overall, it was a very poor experience and a DRASTIC change from the positive eating experience just 3 months ago. It's as if a new chef had taken over. If so, bad idea. Thank goodness we didn't have to pay for 2 of the dinners. But it appears that they didn't care to do a good job on the food because it was coned. We just hate we wasted any money at this restaurant on the other 2 meals) and our time. Needless to say the waitress didn't get even the base tip. We could've eaten elsewhere and had a much better experience.

Not the best place for lunch or dinner

By Debgiri |

The choices are limited, food is stereotype and the taste is usually not that great. I will rather go out for American good where I would get varieties and also get it cheaper.

Over Priced

By David K |

Breakfast outrageously priced. Dinner was okay, but not fantastic. I had Ceasar Salad with chicken. Was good but not great.

Incredible food with awesome service

By DIANA G |

It has been a long time since I enjoyed a dining experience from start to finish! We were greeted promptly and sat. Out server was excellent and very knowledgeable. The food was absolutely incredible. Started with the Tidbit Brussels and they were amazing. Highly recommend them! Nashville chicken was just yum! Hands down best part of dinner was the dessert. Banana pudding bread with vanilla ice cream...Still dreaming about it! If you're looking for a relaxed and inviting atmosphere with amazing food and service, Urban an American Grill is the place.

Breakfast

By jumail1976 |

Great service, amazing buffet from custom made eggs, waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit and the best part is it's right next to the Westin.

Very Pleasant morning breakfast

By Calvin S |

I was visiting Austin for a business trip and decided that I would have breakfast, for a change. I stayed at the Westin at the Domain in Austin and went down to their restaurant...Urban an American Grill. I have to say that this is my very first time writing a review. But, the greeter, Ms. Xochitl Garcia and my server, Ms. Rosa Losa were two of the most pleasant and effervecent persons that I have met in a hotel restaurant. They made my day. They both greeted and served me like I was a special guest in their home. Put a great big ole Texas smile on my face. I had to find out their names so that I could let the restarant manager know how good they were. We need more people like Xochitl and Rosa. I am full and Happy!!!

Sorority Mom's Weekend

My daughter and I enjoyed three meals at the Urban American Grill over our two day stay at the Westin Domain and all three meals were excellent! One afternoon we shared a pizza at the bar. The bartenders were very attentive and very nice; overall a great experience!!

Best Breakfast Buffet

By Owen M |

Undoubtedly the best Buffet Breakfast. A texas style breakfast assortment with everything you could possibly want. Great table service also.

Tammy K is the very best part of Urban!

By Kristine C |

We’ve stayed at the Westin in The Domain 4-5 times for multiple days over the past 3 years. Our SPG Platinum status allows us to enjoy the breakfast buffet for free. The past two times we’ve visited, it’s been our good fortune to have Tammy K as our server extraordinaire! The food here is great. The buffet is varied and plentiful, so all of our palates are satisfied. Having Tammy smile warmly and greet us as family has made our visits memorable. She truly embodies hospitality and professionalism. Never an empty glass on our table and she always goes above and beyond to ensure a wonderful dining experience. Thanks, Tammy! We can’t wait to visit again.

Could not enjoy this restaurant.

By DevdattaR |

By the time, I wound up my shopping and went to the Restaurant for dinner, I was told that the restaurant was closed. And I had to use the bar instead. Most restaurant in the locality are open till late but not the "Urban an American Grill"

YUM!

By NovemberMay |

Very creative and delicious menu. Leave room for dessert! I rarely try a hotel restaurant, but I checked out the menu and the ambiance and could not resist. It was not the crazy Friday night noisy place we all suffer through for dinner out on the weekends. Great Service and food.

Great menu and service!

By Ciara C |

Visited Urban recently and had such a wonderful experience. I don't eat steak that often, so I splurged and got the Filet Mignon. It was cooked to a medium rare perfection. I'd also highly recommend the seared scallops. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared with such delicious ingredients. The service was great and my martinis were perfect! Can't wait to come back!

Great brunch and very reasonable for a buffet

By ParisHouston |

We had an unexpected great brunch at this restaurant. We didn't realized it was located in the Westin hotel. Buffet food was good. Not a hug buffet per day but they took your egg orders as an a la cart. Liked their mini croissants and danishes and very yummy smoked salmon. Would come back. That ypu
