Amazing food, menu, prices, service and atmosphere! Would highly recommend this over your "typical" pub restaurant!

First time there last night for dinner. I really can not say anything negative, perhaps other than it can get a little pricey with the a la cart menu but not too bad. Happy Hour runs until 6 with discounted appetizers and half price specialty cocktails. Also discounts on the large beer and wine selection. The service was fast and attentive. The waiter explained the portions and suggested that everything essentially served two people so sharing is was best way to go. There were two of us and this worked out perfectly. The Monkey Bread was delicious and I recommend ordering it. We both ordered the Sun dried Tomato and Prosciutto Meatloaf. For sides we ordered Green Bean Creole and 5 Cheese Potato au Gratin. All, especially the meatloaf, were delicious! We shared the Ménage a Trois Cobbler for desert which was also very good. Great view of downtown from the rooftop patio, it can get a little cool though if it's windy. I am sure that's not a problem when it's a little warmer. I highly recommend Urban Eats and will return for sure.

This is a great place on Washington, combination restaurant, bar, deli. Good for singles, dates, lunch or dinner. I will be back.

One of my favorite places to eat burgers. The sliders are to die for.. I usually get the Cowboy sliders with no bbq sauce and an extra side of garlic lime (?) aioli. It is sooooo good. and the shoe string fries. The fried green tomatoes are good but a very small portion for the price. The brussel sprouts are really great... and enough to share. We started making our version at home because we enjoyed them so much. We tried the brunch here and it wasnt too bad.. I preferred the dinner and the sweet treats downstairs!

Don’t miss this place when in town, 2nd year in a row for us. Although they don’t take reservations their call ahead works great. Made the call enroute was told it would be about 20 minutes, arrived 20 minutes later and was immediately seated. You can’t enjoy Urban Eats without an order of Monkey Bread, we split an order of Garlic Pork Roast (so tender) and Skillet Cauliflower. Plenty of both to share and enjoy. Parking is limited so we used valet. Great time!

I like dining in better but in a time crunch the market downstairs is great for a light lunch or dinner. The prices are a little high but the quality is always good.

Went here as an alternative to another favorite place that was closed. I really think this place deserves a 3.5 for the following reason, its overpriced. Now the food quality is excellent but for the prices and quantity of food just does not work for us. We spent $58 for 3 without drinks and tip and split 3 sides and a main entree and some bread. We were hungry within a few hours. Just not enough food for a diner like atmosphere.

I have been so many times now. There isn't one thing negative to say. The staff is SO happy and glad you are there. They have a nice bakery , cheese, sausage market. I suggest you try the Vietnamese bottled coffee in the market. Eat upstairs or down better yet when it's cool the upper deck is great. Full bar and complimentary valet.

Great brunch with quirky options. So many interesting options I would share like small plates. Friend green tomato sliders, monkey with friends, beignet with chicken and so many more. Carafe of mimosa or other drink choices make for a special event.

Friendly diner-style servers, exquisite flavors, healthy choices - what more could you want? Upstairs is seated dining bistro style. Downstairs is retail, coffee house, bakery. All of it is delish.

We joined friends for dinner here for the first time. We started with a cocktail. Three of us tried the Pick Up but without the agave syrup and straight up. It was good but still too sweet so the second round, we asked them to leave out the white cranberry juice, too. Much better. Our other friend had the Perfect Manhattan. We shared the Brussels Toss salad which was delicious and a generous size. We shared the au gratin potatoes side which was amazing with 5 kinds of cheese. I had the Fried green tomatoes stack app as my entree and it was good. The fried green tomatoes were layered with greens, mushrooms, and beets. Very tasty. My partner had the meatball (sort of a meatloaf dish), again, generous portion and he liked it. Our friends had a pork loin salad and the tuna entree. Both were satisfied with their choices. Our waiter Steve was very helpful and gave good service. There is a parking lot, but it is valet. The restaurant is upstairs. Downstairs is a market with some interesting gourmet offerings. I would go back if I were in the area.

Had a great meal here, Very cool 'hip' place with a small market downstairs. We shared mob boss sliders, 3 pig Mac n cheese and truffle fries. The truffle fries were the most flavorful I have had in Houston, the sliders were large and tasty and the Mac n Cheese full of bacony, hammy flavor too. The berry cobbler was only so so (a wee bit dry) but they had a nice selection of desserts.

Tried this cute place for the first time on a Monday. The HH food is tasty and heavy. They do not skimp in the flavor. Great HH wines and champagne options. The 1st floor is a cute little market. This is a definite must try.

I can't say anything but good things about this restaurant. The atmosphere was comfortable and noise was subdued. Service was attentive without being in your conversations. The food was excellent and different. Portions are easily divided, so you can share. It's casual food with sophisticated flavors. They have done an excellent job coming up with a unique menu, though the items and ingredients are easily recognizable by the average person. It's the combinations and seasonings that make them different. Good place for a casual date, a meal with friends or even your parents. (Don't bring the kids unless they are open to different things.) Prices are on the high end of average for this type of food.

You walk in to a take away grocery store/prepared food establishment. You are then directed upstairs for the dining rooms. We sat outside. Had brunch. The food was more than ample. Different takes but not weird. Server over the top excellent.

When in doubt about where to have dinner, this is always a good decision. The bartenders are all warm, friendly and fun and are willing to give suggestions on menu items. The beer and wine menu is nice with the downstairs a small grocery. I also love the various Frida Kahlo images randomly stationed throughout the building. The friend chicken is my favorite! YUM!

Dined here at the recommendation of our AirBnB host, great choice. Started off with an appetizer of Monkey Breads “with friends” plenty for 4 to share, then we split pork tenderloin roast, with Mac and cheese side. All superb! Great service from Jonathan and definitely listen to his recommendations. Happy hour is 3-6, don’t be a minute late!

We have visited on a number of occasions. I've eaten lunch there by myself, as well as dinner with my husband. Good food, excellent cocktails. Staff always friendly and helpful. Real good atmosphere.

Ate lunch at Urban Eats. The menu is amazing, hip, interesting. We were a party of four and each ordered something different and had fried green tomatoes with beets and goat cheese as an appetizer. Everything we ordered was excellent, the service was excellent,as was the valet parking. It was a nice, warm February day in Houston so we were able to have roof top seating. The place is awesome!!!

On the way to San Antonio, my daughter and I stopped here for lunch. We were greeted warmly by Jared who could tell we needed a bit of guidance. The restaurant is upstairs, but downstairs is a treat in itself! They have a market, sandwiches, coffee, and bakery items. After lunch, we treated ourselves to coffee and dessert for the road. We loved the decor and artwork upstairs. Our lunch was delicious, and the service was friendly and prompt. Overall, we were very happy with our experience!

When you first walk in, there are great food options to eat there downstairs or to take away. So many temptations. Or you can go upstairs to dine in. There is a decent amount of seating at tables or at the bar. We chose the bar. Service was very attentive. My party of four all went for the sliders from which there are ten to choose. There are also four different ways that you can dress up your fries. I left here very satisfied and will definitely come back here again.

We stopped in late Saturday night and there was a 30 minute wait for upstairs. We decided to eat downstairs. We ordered the Mac n Cheese and the meatloaf. From the first bite it was wonderful. The serving sizes were good but we didn't have room for dessert. This will be another must next time we are in the area.

Service was friendly but not efficient and the prices are reasonable. Now for the food which was great. I had the Chimichanga and she had the breakfast pie make sure to be hungry when you come. Nice outdoor patio

The place is a bit loud and a bit proud of their unique twist on things but everything tastes great. A 20 something crowed rocks the place. I would go back for sure .

Drawn in by the red umbrellas, really surprised by deliciousness and quality of food. Spinach salad, brussel sprout salad and salmon with couscous landed on our table and we all shared, plus red velvet cupcake. I know its tough for restaurants right now but they upped their game. Lots of local art plus deli downstairs, fun!

This restaurant was suggested to me by a coworker as a place with an eclectic menu. That held true. As a first timer be sure to ask questions as the layout and menu can be slightly confusing. The food was good and the portions were nice. I would go back.

We stop in here and normally grab a biscuit with bacon egg and cheese to go after we work out. I know what you are thinking -- "you eat that after working out!" We sure do and for your information -- we SPLIT the biscuit because ii so large. When we got our first one, they said try the bacon-jalapeno jam. With some trepidation we did. It is amazing!!! They have all sorts of neat food pre-packaged for lunch or dinner. That will be our next adventure. My waste line is glad they are not with in walking distance.

I came with some friends for brunch and it was a great experience. My fiancé and I had the chimichanga and the hash and both were fantastic. They had a number of drinks they offered and the atmosphere was open and lively. My coffee was good and they had several local brews on tap. We'll definitely be back.

Storms throughout Houston so this is the only place on Washington open! I am so happy! Quick service and the food is delicious! We got 3 Pig whit truffle mac & cheese and mushroom bread pudding. Both are fabulous and I would order either one again! I will be back to try other dishes!

Creative menu, urban feel, awesome location. Service was excellent. Menu features bar fare such as need sliders, truffle Mac and cheese, curried and pickled vegetable salads. Will return.

We visited Urban Eats for the first time this weekend & I can't wait to go back! I had the Mob Boss sliders & the hubby got the Southern Chick sliders. Both were good but the Southern Chick was my fav & I want to try the Fried Green Tomatoes one next time. I also want to try the Monkey Bread! Our waitress Monica was friendly & helpful & we had fun shopping downstairs. Will be back for sure!!

Had a wonderful evening: great food, service, and drinks. Loved the casual atmosphere. We were there during off hours and it was perfect. Great happy hour prices, too! Our server, Mimi, was delightful and incredibly helpful with menu item questions. Birthday celebration was enjoyed by all.

We were overnighting in Houston’s historic district and found this suggestion from YELP. The downstairs area is for take out and has a small area for coffee where you can sit. The bar is upstairs with the hot food. I got the chicken soup and Monkey bread. Every bite was heaven. The spices were perfect. Appetizer was the fried green tomatoes. Very nicely done. My only regret was we had no room for desert.

I had the fried green tomato BLT. Such wonderful flavors! It is a lot of food but very delicious. I liked it so much that I finished every bit of it. Ate in the Market part down stairs. Service is wonderful. They have delicious baked good and amazing staff

O! M! Goodness! Fresh. Tasty! Authentic worth a twist! Indescribably good! My new fave! Can't waitto come back! Awesome atmosphere, great service and really great bar tender. I don't drink alcoholic beverages and have requested a virgin mojito many times, either they don't make it at all or is awful, this chick nailed it! Thank you! So we had the Meat and Cheese... the homemade nuts and fig jam... fabulous! Just got back from Europe and didn't get any ratatouille, that's OK because the Ratatouille and Baked Goat Cheese is amazing! Probably wouldn't have been this good in Paris! 3 Pig, no not us, Truffled Mac & Cheese. Best mac and cheese! Better than, other places that aren't worth mentioning! 5 Cheese Potato au Gratin, was OK compared to everything else, but pour the au gratin cheese on the mac and cheese!!! Hello flavor town! We'll most definitely be beck! Thanks for the awesome experience! Owner is extremely helpful too!

Three friends and I ate here recently. What a find! Super menu with lots of interesting healthy choices. Every thing we ordered was special. Service and valet parking are a plus. The deli downstairs would be a great spot to get a picnic to go.

Had lunch with our son, his girlfriend and our 8 year old daughter. Sandwiches and salads were great but no appealing choices for children. Service was ok except out server was somewhat unprofessional. He was making small talk in front of our child and said some words that weren't appropriate. Otherwise, we had a good experience and will go back but will need to bring other food in for our daughter.

Wow. Where to even begin. We arrived around 12:30, there was a 15-20 min wait for 2 people. That was totally fine, so I told the hostess we'd be sitting outside to wait. Thirty minutes passed and we were still waiting. We went to check in with the hostess, and she panicked, it appeared she had totally forgotten about us. We head upstairs to find a 3/4 full restaurant, plenty of open tables including the bar which easily sat 20 people with not one person sitting at it. Over 10 more minutes passed before the waitress came to our table, we went ahead and put in our orders, not wanting to delay our meal any further. Thirty plus more minutes go by, no sign of food or our waitress. When the food finally arrives, the Brasserie Benedict is cold. We send it back and start to eat the chicken and beignets, which was hot and decent tasting, but what they are calling a beignet is not exactly a beignet. We split this dish and completely finish it. A few more minutes of waiting pass and we decide the wait for the new benedict is not even worth it. We tell our waitress we'd like to pass on the benedict all together. She tried to convince us not to, but out minds are made up. The manager comes out and brings us a boxed up benedict to go, and explains we won't be charged. A nice gesture, but now we are taking home a meal that will once again, be cold. However we recognize the attempt to make things better and ask for the check. After the waitress has ran my card, she brings me back the bill to sign. I open the bill to find a receipt and NO CARD. Unbelievable. I has to track our waitress down and ask for y card. She digs around in the back for some time before coming back with it. At this point, we just want to be out of this place. We're still hungry and just ready to go get food elsewhere. We head down to the valet and give the attendant our ticket. He refuses to take it and tells us to be patient. The attendants begin bickering with each other. Our car is parked right in front of us, so we kindly ask if we can just take the keys, since they are so backed up with the wait as is. One of the attendants begins yelling at us to be more patient. I've had enough and walk away. After some negotiation, we eventually just take the keys, and get the car ourselves. In total we spent over 2 hours at this place to leave hungry and extremely frustrated. We will not be back.

Food was good. We had had eggplant napoleon, meatloaf, bread pudding, pasta entrees for dinner on a friday nite. Really liked monkey bread with seasoned oil, nice twist as bread was not sweet.would go here again.

Omgoodness! Ate in upstairs. Very nice atmosphere got there before it got crowded. Had the monkey bread, meatloaf, Mac n cheese, fried chicken strips over a heaping helping of delicious Brussel sprouts!!! The meal was great the staff was great and made for a great first time experience. But wait, I'm not finished...the bread pudding was out-freaking-standing! I felt so happy all over afterwards. I will be back!

We went out with my son for a birthday lunch. Sat outside on the second floor balcony. Nice view of downtown Houston. The Mac and Meat lunch was great, the best meatloaf I ever had. Ahi Tuna and Couscous was very well prepared. The Club Cobb Wedge Salad would have made a meal by itself. I had a house white wine of good quality, and my son had a bloody mary that looked like a meal in itself. I was surprised at the menu and the preparation, the service was good but not great.

I checked the menu online before stopping by for lunch. The food and service were both great. The dessert options are unmatched!! Can't wait to return!

Had dinner with a date. We ate on the second floor balcony which has good views of downtown Houston. The Monkey Bread appetizer is the best thing since Parker House rolls. We did not see an elevator. This makes getting to the second floor dining room a pretty good workout. Parking is limited, but valet parking is complimentary.

Great Sunday brunch. Fresh and quick, made to order eggs, salads, burgers and the fries are amazing! I would definitely recommend.

The service at both the market and restaurant was excellent, warm and efficient. Lovely art on the walls. The Sunday Dinner slider with roasted pork and the fixings on fresh bread was delicious. The shoestring style fries were crisp and well seasoned. Everyone at the table was pleased with the food they chose.

A very urban place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. In the Netherlands we would call this place 'gezellig'. Great selection of coffee (really good), cakes, sandwiches, etc. And for dinner a great selection of good food. While waiting for your order you can walk around and buy all kinds of food to take home, like good olive oil from Italy, mustard from French, etc. Oh..and the staff is really really really friendly.

Whatever you do you need to order Monkey Bread and Friends as an appetizer!!! It was a delicious bread served with olives, cheese, and meat. We got an order to share, but it was so good I wished I ordered one for myself. Instead I had a Spinach Salad that was good. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. It's a very nice location for lunch. I plan to come back again.

Not a five by some less than crisp duck fat potatoes. Great breakfast sandwiches and tremendous bacon. Sliders looked great. A bit cramped(what isn't on Washington?) and a trifle on the millennial side. Good service and a great bar. We will go back when it isn't Sunday brunch. Quality ingredients.

The atmosphere is urban chic and super clean. The restaurant upstairs is quiete, which is appreciated as the friends can talk. The good is somewhat unimaginative and tasty but basic. Our 3 people dinner was half chicken, brussels, cauliflower, monkey bread and mac n cheese. No drinks, no tip, $60. I really think it is overpriced for all the basics... just an opinion...

Foodie Foodie Foodie I am. I also love to cook. It's almost a sin they created this cute little place, market below and bar/bistro up top. It is to say the least...YUM. Food porn. We had to start the Fried Green Tomatoes layered with goat cheese followed by the award winning Cowboy slider, brussel sprouts and 3 Pig Mac. The cocktails were delish as well. Got there about 7pm on a Saturday busy but still able to get a seat. By 10 when we left it was PACKED. Can't say enough good things about this place. Our server was a hoot. Live entertainment setting up just as we were leaving. Will definitely be back!

We tried it for the first time and we were both impressed. We love the multiple setups they have. The top floor has a bar and patio (a lounge feel). The ground floor level is set up like a market where you can pick up some deli meats, prepared sandwiches/salads/desserts and you can order food food from the counter. They also have a street patio with a light service(a few people taking your order) Their Salad choices is great!! Their sandwich menu is all sliders. If they add more sandwich varieties then in my opinion they will attract more fans.

Fun place, good food, service could be better. The cowboy sliders were excellent. Outside patio is very nice.

Wow!! Are here today for first time. IT WAS AMAZING!! There's a small bakery downstairs where they make their own breads. They also have already made stuff for a quick pick up meal. Then upstairs is a restaurant. The food was so flavorful. Would recommend to every one. It's a new restaurant but it is soooo worth trying.

Went to this place with some friends that were regulars, it was much hyped to me and it lived up to the hype. Sat at the bar for several hours talked with the bartenders and even met the owners. Everyone was very friendly and we had a great time. The bar offers some great drinks that the bartenders created. We even got the story behind some of the names. The food was amazing. I will warn you though its mostly bar food style instead of main course dishes. We started with the fired goat cheese in red sauce with rolls, if you are a cheese or bread lover you NEED to order that. Then we all order different fancy fries to try. I do not normally like stuff piled on my fires but they were great. I was very temped to get dessert because they offered bread pudding but my last few times to order it at other places left me scared. The Chef came out and told me I guaranteed I would love it or my money back. IT WAS THE BEST BREAD PUDDING I HAVE EVER HAD. No lie. GET THE BREAD PUDDING. I did not really see the downstairs portion of the restaurant, but the upstairs was several tables around a central bar. A little tight but not too bad. Oddly enough they have TVs but they like to keep them on random movie channels. A word of warning parking is limited but they do offer valet parking.

I had a friend visiting from LA and I wanted to take her somewhere cute with outdoor seating and I kept seeing Urban Eats pop up in my search so I decided to try it out. We went on a Friday afternoon around 1. It wasn’t packed but there was a good amount of people. The downstairs market area is really cute and offers a lot of items off their menu so you don’t have to stay and eat if you are on the go. Their walls have art for sale (assumingly done by local artists) which adds to the uniqueness and charm. Upstairs is a full restaurant with a patio overlooking the Houston skyline but as it was chilly, we ate inside. The staff was immediately attentive - almost too attentive. My only complaint was that our waitress followed us right over to the table and asked what we wanted to drink before we even sat down. I felt rushed. But everything else was amazing! The food was incredible. We started with the monkey bread which I would recommend to anyone and shared a few other items. I have been telling so many people to go there because everything is incredible. We even spoke to the owner who was an absolute treat to talk to. Can’t wait to go back!

What a great place to spend an evening over dinner with friends at. A lovely dining space upstairs with a great elevated, open-air patio and a Market down below, this place has a lot to offer its diners. Each menu item, whether food or beverage, is compiled thoughtfully with quality ingredients. Definitely will be returning.

Parking spaces are few and many of the spots are reserved for take-out making the parking situation even worse. The multiple spots reserved for take-out sit empty while everyone else is driving around the block trying to find a space. The food is attractively presented, however it tastes marginal. Worse was the service. Several people at our table received their entrees while the rest of us sat there waiting. 10 minutes went by until finally I got up and asked where our entrees were. I was told the servers didn't know we were together. We stood in line to order together and sat at the same table. How did you not know we were together? If some people at a table have no food how do you NOT KNOW they are waiting on their food? The worst part of it was we received a scolding to always let the servers know we are together. Once again - how could you not know we are together when we are ordering together and sitting at the same table? And, why scold? Why not just apologize and get the food out asap. The best thing about Urban Eats is the location. But that doesn't make up for the terrible parking, so so taste, and lousy service. I also bought items from the deli - banana bread, cupcakes. Much to my surprise, they did not taste good. They looked delicious and I normally love baked goods. But these did not have a good flavor. I also ordered the monkey bread because I read in the reviews that it is tasty. However, once again, it tastes just like ordinary rolls. Nothing to get excited about.

Ate brunch here and had a great chimichanga. You can eat inside, outside or upstairs. There is a nice shop inside to buy locally sourced items. You will find a broad range of selections at brunch and local sodas too. The wait staff is a little slow but they are cool.

Enjoyed an early dinner sitting on the patio upstairs. We shared the green tomato blt, an order of mac and cheese and an order of Brussels sprouts. All wre excellent. The Brussels sprouts were tender and very tasty. The Mac and cheese was carbo heaven and I could have eaten more of the blt sliders they were so good. They have a good selection of beer available. Service was good. Attentive but not overbearing. I ordered a latte and a red velvet cheesecake on my way out at the counter downstairs. I think I'll go back very soon and repeat the same order !

This is a Must for any meal. Everything is homemade with huge portion sizes. Great vibe and so welcoming. Marco was top notch and made are experience fantastic. Don’t miss out!

We went on a Saturday night around 7:00pm. Able to get a table for 4 without waiting but it was near full. The restaurant is upstairs but can get food in their market down stairs. It was a nice little dining area but not super big. Outside seating is available and would like to try later when it is not so HOT in Houston, Texas! The pork roast was dry and when we told the waiter he offered more gravy. The meatloaf, Mac and cheese Anne au gratin potatoes were all very good. Shoestring fries good addition as well. Waiter was a little slow on refilling drinks and did not even offer my husband trill on his water. He drank mine. We had the bread pudding for dessert and was good. Overall, we enjoyed time away with friends at a new place. I would probably return but won't get the pork roast.

Small place but I like the design and decor.. Good service and a cool tiny market downstairs.. Overall good ambience.. However the food left a lot to be desired. The menu is very small (not a bad thing) but it's fries with different toppings and oils, different salads or sliders. Today we had the Duck Lyon fries, Cowboy sliders and Brasserie sliders.. First everything was served cold. Cold fries with truffle oil or whatever was on it only made them more soft. The duck pate that was served with them smelled and tasted like cat food. The sliders had good flavor and taste but we're also cold. Not a good experience, wouldn't recommend this place.

Food was quite good as was the service. Some unusual and well done menu items. Mostly high stool type tables, not for the imbalanced. Food and wine prices good value. Primarily young crowd. Interesting concept with food store and bakery downstairs and restaurant upstairs. No practical alternative that we saw to valet parking and they were pretty bad - slow, confused. If you don't have handicap parking sticker, go by Uber or bicycle. Maybe I'm just used to hustling, savvy valet parkers.

Three couples met here for a catch up evening...we loved it. First they have an upstairs outside patio that allows cigars :-) love this place already!! The drink selection is wide and the house specials are very interesting a good. The food is very GOOD and reasonable. Order something with bread, as it comes fresh from the downstairs bakery and market!! They have live music on the weekends (at least that is what we know), was a single person playing some really good jazz! Very vibrant and lively scene! Oh for you dog owners and lovers, your family members are welcome!!!

This was my first time visiting Urban Eats! My friend and I were looking for a close restaurant to eat and enjoy Happy Hour before a concert at a venue nearby. We sat upstairs in the outside patio. Happy Hour drinks were reasonably priced at half off and strong! Definitely heavy pours! The food was delicious! We ordered appetizers off the HH menu.. sliders and kale & artichoke dip. Our waiter was John and he was very attentive and helpful; amazing service. I would definitely come back again! Good people watching. Nice place to bring a date. Great overall experience.

Haven't gone to a restaurant in a long time where in the first bite I said, "This is incrediblily good." Had the salad that has Brussel sprouts and it was simply wonderful. My friend had a quiche that she said was marvelous. The portions were generous but it was so delicious I didn't leave a mortal. The dining room is upstairs(you have to walk up) and we ate downstairs but I sent a friend there for dinner and they were very pleased and liked the upstairs.

This place was very good. However, I think even though it is a neighborhood place to eat doesn't mean children always belong. Anyway, Very friendly staff, very friendly and I liked it. The food menu could expand a little more as well.

Visited here again on my arrival back in Houston. We always sit at the bar to eat, I enjoy watching the bar staff make all their cocktails. Rebecca and Casey always do a grand job, polite, friendly and helpful. They usually make me a French martini which is not on their regular bar menu. My husband and I normally share a meal here as good size portions. This time we had the meat loaf with roasted root veg, delicious. With some left over to take home. I personally would have liked some extra sauce or gravy with the meatloaf. I'll ask if I order this again. Didn't stay too long today as tired. They usually have a live music on Saturday evenings, which we missed today.

When you walk in it looks like a deli/take out store with artisan foods and condiments. They also have counter service for a quick take out meal/snacks. We came on Sunday so only the limited amount brunch menu was available. The variety of food was still out of the box eclectic. I got the fried green tomato sliders...absolutely delicious! The chipotle tomato relish/jelly really made it perfect. My husband purchased a veggie lasagna from the delivery cooler that they kindly warmed up from him. Our daughter got a side of rosemary potatoes and 'fried chicken' which was really just chicken tenders. We also shared the rosemary garlic bread which a definite 'must get'. Their soft whipped butter was so tasty. We'll definitely be back to checkout the regular menu during the week.

Back after a couple of years and it’s still as good. Easy valet parking ( complimentary) Deck has great views of downtown.Brussel sprout salad with chicken great for me. Cowboy sliders ok for wife. Reasonable at $42 excl booze. Definitely worth a try

First things first. This place would garner 3 stars if it weren't for the fact that the valet parking attendants - self parking wasn't available at the time - stole a roll of quarters from my cup holder which I was planning to take to the bank after my lunch. I clearly remember placing it in the cup holder and thinking to myself when I turned over the keys "maybe I should put it in my pocket and not leave it in view"....but I didn't. It's my fault for being stupid and leaving something like $10 in quarters in plain sight. As for the food and service: I visited during brunch on a Saturday, and it was my first time here. I ordered the fried chicken tenders and beignets. The tenders were moist, juicy and flavorful...each one stuffed into a beignet and drizzled with honey. The beignets were a bit dry -- I think they are baked, not fried -- and had more of a dinner roll texture than beignet. That said, they were a tasty treat and worth the $12 menu price. The baked goods for sale on the 1st floor looked tasty, but most of the cheeses, meats and shelf items (honey, spices, vinegars etc) can be purchased at HEB for less money. All in all, I would probably return here to try other menu items -- if valet parking wasn't the only parking option. Sorry, you've lost my business.

Ate here with girlfriends for lunch recently. Most ordered a slider of some kind and liked them. I ordered the pork tenderloin and apple salad which was delicious and very ample. We also ordered some of the desserts including the lemon meringue tartlet and the chocolate pecan tarte which were also good. Small store downstairs sells colored pastas, pastries and other items. Small parking lot which you have to valet your car.

I had been told that this place had great bread pudding so I planned to eat light and save room for desert. I had the barbecue slider and it came with salad and string french fried potatoes. All yummie. Took home salad and french fries. Sliders were good. Monkey bread was tasty. Would definitely order the monkey bread again. Service was attentive and excellent.

This market/deli and full service restaurant is a great spot for a snack or meal. Chic upscale urban mix here. Staff is friendly and efficient and complimentary valet parking makes it easy to sneak in and get away from Houston traffic.

My sliders were okay (cowboy, I think they were called)- nothing to write home about. Next time I go, I'll try something else in the hopes I get something better. The truffle fries, though...oh my word. You must - absolutely MUST - try them. Seriously. Waiter was friendly, helpful, and personable. Vibe was young, hip, urban, but fairly chill. We ate on the outside balcony and it was nice and quiet, didn't feel crowded.

Stopped in for brunch with a friend and we already made a note that we will need to come back. The food was delicious and the service friendly. We arrived when it opened and it was not super busy or noisy while we were there. I had their buttermilk waffles with mixed berries and basil berry syrup while my friend had their veggie omelette. Both were well done and served in a timely manner. Once you're done eating, you can swing by the small shop and bakery within the restaurant. It was a great way to start the day.

Waited 15 minutes for a table around lunch on a Sunday. Wasn’t unhappy with that until we got upstairs and saw 10 empty tables. Claims to be kid friendly but they had no high chairs and no kids menu. Server was quite cranky and seemed unhappy to be bothered to serve us. She took our drink order, went to the restroom and then 15 minutes later we received our two lattes and kids milks. Lattes had been splashed all over the saucers despite them being $5 drinks. Food was good but we won’t return.

Nice, edgy place along Washington Street in Houston. Great, plentiful salads and a wonderful shop as you enter with baked goods and other take-away items. Super friendly staff but table service is a bit uncertain. Nice, eclectic seating in about three different areas. We tried three different goodies from the bakery and all were excellent, especially the biscotti and the gigantic chocolate chip cookie!

We went for lunch. We both ordered the sliders. The fried green tomato blt slider was ok but they must have used cherry tomatoes. The tomato was so small it didn't even cover the bun. Really it's a slider! More like a bun sandwich. The same with the cowboy, not very tasty again no meat! The best part of the meal the cold beer. The service was very good nice waiter. This is a no return!

Early dinner at Urban Eats. Like most Houston restaurants, this one has their valet parking as well and after reading the nightmares of other reviewers we were determined to park ourselves. As others have mentioned there is a take-out shop downstairs, dining room upstairs. Chose several items from the happy hour menu..beef slider, chicken slider, parmesan fries, fried green tomatoes, and a warm brussel sprout salad. The waiter told us that the sliders are "what they are famous for." The chicken was on the dry side, the beef was very tasty with the onion rings on top but I cannot say it was fantastic. The tomatoes were outstanding, and the brussel sprout salad was very tasty--warm, not overdressed, crisp greens, croutons. Menu has numerous appetizers, small plates and entrees. I can see why it attracts big crowds later in the evening and on the weekends..has a millennial "vibe" to it. I would give it a solid 3.5.

My awesome husband took me here last weekend on our "date night," and we were eager to enjoy their Houston Restaurant Week menu. We were greeted and seated right away and our server was friendly. From there, it was downhill. The restaurant was very, very warm with little air circulation. I had the ahi tuna, which was overcooked. I was brought the wrong dessert, then the server "rushed" my chocolate torte, which was then overly sweet with a texture that was very displeasing. As others have noted, the room was very loud. Hubby's meatloaf and mac and cheese were very good, but overall, I was very disappointed.

This is a newer place on Washington Ave. Neat concept. First floor has unique cooking ingredients, spices, jellies, etc for foodies. Also a small but nice bakery. The restaurant and bar are on the second floor. I had the Cowboy sliders (2) that comes with a salad and frites (thinly cut fries). That was plenty for lunch. The meat was cooked well and the frites were good as well. My co-worker had the mac n cheese which was outstanding. They have a good variety of frites selections, sliders, and salads. The service was very good, nice servers that could answer questions we had re the menu. A nice experience. I would review their menu on-line and then definitely go.

We went here for my birthday celebration- I was late but the waiter picked a wonderful beverage out for me and the monkey bread was delicious. The entree and deserts were good also. Overall a nice place for dinner.

Apart from the downstairs market which has many exotic foods and condiments , the upstairs restaurant is well décoréd and friendly , yes a terrace and full bar . The food is plenty , creative presentation and flavours all excellent , well worth the visit , lunch for 3 - 47$ reasonable for the size and deliciousness Valet parking only , complimentary Great place

Had a marvelous lunch we dined on the eggplant Napoleon and the chicken sandwich and beef salad for appetizers we had fried green tomatoes yum yum and the bread, awesome! We will definitely be back soon.... I hear they have a great brunch on weekends. Cool atmosphere 😀

We found this place while staying in downtown Houston for a conference and loved it! We went there for lunch and luckily got there before it was too crowded because they have limited parking. We tried the Mac n Cheese and the sliders. Both were very good and we loved the hip atmosphere and décor in the restaurant. The store with a small bakery is on the first floor and the restaurant is on the 2nd level. This place should be climbing in the rankings on TripAdvisor soon as it was very busy and the food was excellent!

A nice place to get a take home dinner and they even provide parking for this idea. The cookies are big and delish but a little pricey.

My best friend gave me a choice of places to go for my birthday and I choose Urban Eats and I am so glad that I did! It is a really cool place with a market on the first floor where you can get sandwiches, drinks and other things and up stairs is the bar/restaurant and a patio. We went on a Saturday at 6 pm and was seated right away. It was busy but not in a bad way. Our waiter was nice and we ordered drinks and appetizers, I had the Bewitched (2) which consisted of hibiscus vodka, rose water, prosecco & citrus and it was so good! We shared the Stacked Fried Green Tomatoes and it was so good! I don't much care for beets because they taste like dirt but with all the other ingredients you hardly taste the beets at all. We both ordered sliders, I had the Picnic, toasted ciabatta roll, smoky BBQ chopped brisket, aged white cheddar, red cabbage slaw and dill pickles and my friend had the Sunday Dinner, herbed focaccia, garlic clove pork pot roast, provolone, flash fried green beans, sauteed onions & mushrooms with savory arugula & brown gravy, which really tasted like Sunday dinner after church! I really enjoyed my birthday dinner here at Urban Eats and can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu! Highly recommend!

Save room for dessert - the flourless chocolate cake and lemon tart were both outstanding. The southern chick slider was pretty good but the BBQ ones were only so-so. The wine list is limited but the beer list is much better. I'd probably come back here for dessert but not necessarily dinner. Service was quick and attentive. The restaurant and bar are on the 2nd floor. A grab and go with fresh bread and great looking deserts are on the ground floor. There is valet parking - parking is tight in this area of town.

This is our first visit to the cafe of Urban Eats - we were so impressed with the market we came back for lunch. A fun mixture of flavors on fries and sandwiches - We tried the 5 Cheese potato au gratin - thinly sliced potatoes in a creamy cheese sauce - yum. We all tried different sliders and upgraded 2 of the fry sides to bistro pommes frites - One had the fried green tomato BLT on pretzel roll - smoked bacon, green tomato with peach pepper jam; another had The Picnic - ciabatta roll with bbq briskett, cheddar and red cabbage slaw; then Sunday Dinner - herbed focaccia, clove pork roast with fried green beans, onions and brown gravy and I had the best - Cowboy - yeast roll with sirloin burger, cheese, bacon, onion strings topped with bourbon bbq sauce - all come with a side of greens and fries. I had the B&C fries - bacon, cheddar diced onions with bbq sauce - all delicious, savory and dripping - need napkins! The cafe portion is upstairs over the market with a nice patio on the side with umbrellas. The market and front patio also serve the same menu. No elevator, only stairs available. The bar is also upstairs. Friendly staff - lunch time had a full crowd, but the noise level seemed minimal. Prices are reasonable. Very enjoyable meal - - we will be back.

Wife and I were running late and starving from after having fasted several hours for to facilitate medical testing. We couldn't make up our minds as to what to eat when we passed this place. There was much to choose from; our breakfasts and drinks were quite good albeit pricey. Service was over the top friendly and responsive. Only real problem we had was having to drive around the block a few times due to little available parking and one-way streets encircling it; cannot imagine if we came at a busy time of day. We'll return someday if and when we're in the neighborhood; it is 50 miles from home.

Went there on a recommendation from friends. The ambiance is young casual, concrete floors, high ceilings, and brushed steel table tops. Clientele predominantly 30s and casual. With all this in mind, it was very noisy. Menus is toward comfort food with a lot of variety. My wife and I had no trouble finding things that looked interesting. She had grilled salmon and I had pork pot roast. Our sides were skillet brussel sprouts, roasted potatoes and carrots, and shoestring potatoes with truffle oil and parmesan. Everything was excellent except for the pork; it was good but not excellent. There is some god wine on the list as well as an extensive beer selection. Jerrid our server did a terrific job on all counts. Even with the noise, we will go back; too many interesting things to try.

We had lunch here on a week day - it was amazing. You can either sit in the deli downstairs, or in the restaurant upstairs. There is a roof terace, but it was a bit to sunny to sit out, so we chose inside, upstairs. Fantastic staff, happy to answer all questions about the menu and we were thrilled with our choices - one veggie, one meat eater. Fresh, tasty, generous, well priced food in a great setting - would certainly come back again. Loved it!

A friend suggested this restaurant as she had recently visited. She also suggested which dish to order. When we walked in, we were surprised because it looked more like a coffee shop. The man behind the counter must have read our expressions and explained the full restaurant was upstairs. We were pleased with the restaurant atmosphere. They also have outside dining on a deck. I followed my friend's suggestion and ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT sliders. My son and I also shared the Stacked Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer. We were concerned that it might be an overload, but since you can't get them everywhere, we ordered anyway. The dishes were different from each other, both were excellent, BUT those sliders were over the top delicious! The combination of the aoli and the peach pepper jam created an amazing flavor. The service was good as well. I can't wait to go back again.

First night in Houston and good dinning place to go, food was great also drinks and great ambiance only thing you need to be hungry to eat everything there.

So first restuarant visited on Christmas 2017 holidays. Some friends suggested it and they invited us and normally they choose well. I researched them first and thought the menu was quite a bit with some Interesting items to choose from but nothing that really jumped out at me..... fast forward to dinner time and I was pleasantly surprised. When you enter your greeted with a lovely smell coming from the kitchen which is situated downstairs in their lovely in house store/deli type grab and go I would call it. Dining is upstairs and is cosy and modern. I thought the tables were small but surprisingly everything fit well and didn't seem cramped at all esp with 7 of us choosing different things and all drinking alcohol plus big glasses of water. The main items I think you should try, definitely a must to order is the monkey bread ( we ordered 4 they were that good) That savoury inside with rosemary and a sweet glaze straight out the oven softness and warm. I went for the steak which was a perfectly done and the au jus was amazing I quite liked the shoestring fries that they came with and the aoli with the truffle oil was an awesome addition. The meatloaf with the Mac and cheese was tasty aswell ( no I didn't order both a friend had that one lol) our other friend Don had the Cowboy sliders which he enjoyed. To finish I had the lemon meringue which I have a weakness for lacked the wow factor but the bread pudding my wife had is a must order. All in all a nice experience, a great wine list and a good selection of top shelf liquors to choose from and beers. Our server ( forgot her name but she works for Google aswell) was awesome and funny. Thanks to Graham and Claudio for choosing this venue we will see me going again, def worth a visit guys. Look out for alot more reviews over the next couple weeks. Eat well, Live well!

Excellent sliders and perfect Manhattan Mac and cheese is always a treat and breakfast is always wonderful You can't miss with any of the salads

Urban Eats opened on Washington Avenue last November. It is a pleasant surprise for a stretch of Houston dominated by sports bars and pizza places. The ground floor is a take-out food deli with a range of salads, entrees and desserts. We ate upstairs, a low-key eatery with a very pleasant atmosphere and good service. The menu is fresh bar fare with a nice range of salads, sliders and veggie dishes. The wine list is eclectic and affordable, by the glass or the bottle. We ordered the Cowboy Sliders which were tasty, although overcooked. We also had the Brussels Toss salad which was fresh and tasty. All-in-all, Urban Eats is a welcome addition to the otherwise alcohol-oriented establishments on this popular stretch of Houston's "nightline".

We stopped in for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. Despite being the end of a very busy lunch service, we were greeted promptly and directed upstairs for full service dining. The staff upstairs treated us well and made recommendations for drinks and lunch plates. We were not disappointed in our B&C fries or the Chicken thru The Garden. Be warned the servings are very tasty but large. We both ate from each plate and had enough to take a portion home. There are lots of interesting items on the menu that will bring us back. The dining room is filled with original art, and great music plays at a level that allows all to enjoy it and good conversation. Good job Urban Eats! We look forward to our next meal with you.

We shared 2 lunch choices. The meat & cheese board is superb and a pear apple salad. Service was prompt, they came back to check on us regularly. At the end the owner went out of his way to ensure I could purchase some of the bacon jam as a gift for a friend. Great selection of cheeses in the deli including some truly sharp cheddar... Fabulous. Outdoor tables are shared, we found people very pleasant & accommodating.

Definitely very surprised by this place. It has excellent food and service and a perfect place to go get a hearty meal after the gym.

Been here twice, the second time was after a several month long hiatus due to bad service. If I'm paying for a meal, I expect decent service. The first time was just tragic, but right after opening, so they got a pass. However with supbar service again ... it will make me think twice before sending others here. I went for a Sunday brunch with a girlfriend and sat on the patio ... a different server overheard us discussing mimosas, and said he'd let our server know to put in the order. FIFTEEN minutes later, after two other tables on the patio got sat AFTER us AND received drinks, our actual server came out ..... to confirm that he told her we wanted mimosas, and is that correct. Uh, what? Why? Just, bring them! They have been ordered! This is not that hard. This is the kind of stuff that drives me crazy, because I'm paying for convenience at this point, not to beg.

This was my second visit. I liked it better the first time. Their food is just so- so and the wine list is really lame. Not in a hurry to go back.

A must stop place. Great service, unique menu, and sliders are a must. Wide selection of GF/V options. Come hungry.

We had lunch here, mostly salads, which were quite good. The Pommes Frites with parmesan and truffle oil were really good and a large portion 3 of us shared. The best part of the meal however, was the dessert, especially the bread pudding. Get the bread pudding. They have a bakery downstairs.

We love Urban Eats! Their drinks are amazing and their food is to die for! The menu can look a little intimidating, but in all our visits we've never had something that wasn't amazing. It can fill up fast, so get there early if you want a table. The spicy margarita is my favorite!

Went for dinner on a Friday night. Downstairs in the grocery with patio dining, if want the restaurant you walk up the stair located in the back around the checker out counter. Have both inside and outside eating. We chose to sit outside, as it is covered and fans are blowing I had the 1/4 chicken with spinach and cauliflower and my husband got the grilled chicken goat cheese salad Both were decent portions, and tasted excellent. The chicken is bone in of course, so it is a little hard to eat with knife and fork, but tasted great. My husbands salad was large and the goat cheese on the toasted was good. We also got an order of the savory monkey bread with was soft and warm. also tried their bread pudding and chocolate brownie for dessert. Both were excellent. The drip coffee was good, but was only warm when we got it, as I prefer mine hot. Service was good. Good selection of wine, and beer was well as cocktails. Free parking, but it is limited. Will go back

I have heard some great comments and read some great reviews about this place. While we were over near them, we decided to give them a try for late lunch, and as my title of this post says, I was totally disappointed. Not only with the food bad but the way they handled my concerns/complaints. Two items order, and both of them were bad. First item Chinese chicken salad. Simple problem, no chicken. When I brought this to their attention was told, they were out of chicken, and when the person who took the order told the kitchen to make it without chicken. The second item was the Ruben slider. I ordered it with crispy french fries, which were the highlight of the meal. They also made the pastrami crispy, another word for dried out.
Skip the Fried Chicken Salad
Met my grown kids for dinner on a Monday. The service was good, but I was disappointed by the food. I ordered the fried chicken salad and it looked like processed frozen chicken from a box. It literally looked and tasted like large McNuggets plopped on a salad. I think you would be much better off with sliders. Service was good and everyone liked the drinks.
