Small friendly restaurant. Great if you love fondues of course, which we do. Simple menu , good service. Not the best fondue meal we have ever had but even so this is worth visiting as a casual restaurant and night out.

The appetizers and dessert are worth driving through rush hour for! The entree portion I could do without with, although they have sone INCREDIBLE dipping sauces for that part of the meal. But the cheeses for the appitizers...oh that was heaven!

This place NW Portland has the potential. However the service was rude at best. We arrived 15 minutes early and we were no seated even though there plenty of seats. When we went back the food was disappointing at best. We are used to the melting pot and or authentic Swiss fondue. The only bright spot to this place is that they added caramelized onion to the cheese. We will avoid this place from now on.

Took advantage of the Portland Dine Out month. Excellent service, friendly experienced server and good food.

We had dinner here to celebrate our son's birthday. The cheese choices were unique and we really enjoyed them. The entree fondues were very good but unless you get the fondue for two, the portions are pretty small. The dessert was fantastic. It's very small inside but family friendly. We would definitely go again.

We had the early bird special fondue experience. This was a good way to sample a variety of items at a more reasonable price. Our server was very attentive and helpful but not obtrusive. The ruby port cheese fondue was amazing. By sharing our entrees, Steak and lobster and east meets west, which included chicken, pork, prawns and scallops we had a nice mix of proteins. The oven roasted polenta was very flavorful. To end your meal we enjoyed wonderful chocolate butterscotch fondue which included bite size pieces of fruit, cheese cake, pound cake, and cookie dough for dipping. We had a leisurely time chatting and enjoying our food and look forward to going back again.

My family enjoyed this night out to a great restaurant. The staff was fantastic and made sure all of our needs were met. We enjoyed the food and ambiance. It’s a must on the to do list.

Urban Fondue was a lot of fun. Food is inventive and not your typical Fondue menu. They bring you seasoned broth to cook instead of oil so it's a little healthier. We did the Fondue experience which was nice because it gave you a variety to try. The ambiance is dark but cozy. The only drawback is that it's a little on the expensive side. But overall a fun experience and good food.

This is our preferred fondue restaurant in Portland. You must make reservations and leave time to find parking, though. It's reasonably priced, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable, the service is timely, the portions are healthy-sized, and the staff is extremely attentive. Ask for a booth along the sides of the restaurant, or for a table by the front windows or along the back walls, rather than the tables floating about in the high-traffic center of the restaurant. Enjoy fancy adult beverages while your kids are entertained timing the food cooking in your fondue pot. Consider an earlier reservation if you have young children, as the restaurant has a decidedly hip adult vibe the later in the evening it gets. Ask about the seasonal/special/happy hour offerings, especially if you're on a tight budget. ALL all the broths, cheeses, and dips are fresh and uniquely delicious (I can't pick favorites). Save room for the dessert fondue, too, because they're also spectacular.

The service was amazing, it is a bit complicated if you have never been to a fondue restaurant before. But the staff spent the time to go over the all the options ( and there are many) and made sure we had the right mix of food so we could all have what we wanted. take time here .. it is a easy hour and a half to two hour dinner place and don't rush.. have a few good drinks from the Bartini next door and enjoy the atmosphere that you are in.. enjoy your family or friends.. or that special date you have been waiting for.

Took my dad here for Father's Day, We thoroughly enjoyed it. The Caramel Cognac Fondue was amazing. I enjoyed the steak and lobster fondue entree. The Mojotini was also amazing.

I went to Bartini during happy hour and had two martinis and an order of hummus and bread--all for $10.50. The martinis were good, and there's a big selection, although they tend towards the sweet/fruity "martinis." (You can find some real martinis in there, too.) Service was friendly. The place does get crowded at happy hour.

It 's been really fun utilizing Portland Dining Month as an excuse to try restaurants that typically are not on our radar. When going through the participating restaurant list, Urban Fondue caught our eye. It's a relatively small but intimate place with a bar next door that makes specialty Martini's. We're not 'sippers', so we opted for a glass of wine instead to help us digest the menu. The server was really personable and great at steering us to options she thought we would like. We started with a shared bowl of Swiss and Gruyere cheese fondue finished with caramelized sweet onions and port wine accompanied by a large basket of french bread. They have obviously done this for awhile, as they knew exactly how many pieces of bread were needed to fully utilize the fondue. This was probably our favorite course. Our second course consisted of plates of Baby Lobster tails and Tiger Prawns and Pork with Chicken Breast, Bay Scallops, and more Tiger Prawns. Both plates also came with sliced veggies and mushrooms. Our broth choice was the Seasoned Firepot Broth. Not knowing the main course 'plates' also came with mixed veggies, we also ordered grilled asparagus (served really charred) and the polenta cakes (excellent). There was plenty of food, BUT, even with the 'spiciest' broth available and all the dipping sauces on the side, we found everything either overpowered by the dipping sauces or really under seasoned. A shaker of some herb mix or even salt and pepper on the table would have been a welcome addition. Also, the Scallops tasted really 'fishy' and not as fresh as they could have been. The selection of our dessert fondue was probably our most difficult. To choose a single fondue between a half a dozen mixed chocolates, caramel, butterscotch, cheescake, bananas foster, and others was almost daunting. We finally chose the Caramel Cognac Fudge in which to dip our plate of mixed fruits, cheesecake, cookie dough, and pastries. The first half a dozen bites were great, but a little too sweet for us near the end. All in all, it was a fun and enjoyable experience in a pretty space with excellent service that, in the future, we would probably save for a special occasion . A group night out or birthday party would be perfect. Under the right circumstances, we'd do it again.

I was with a group of friends for a girls night. We decided that fondue would be fun and we weren't disappointed. We were seated on time in a very comfy booth. Our server was polite and made great recommendations (the ruby port!) and was on top of all our needs throughout the night. The entree's were lots of fun, playing with the hourglasses to cook our food was particularly enjoyable. After all that the selection of things to dip at dessert was amazing. They had everything from cream puffs to cookie dough to fruit. It was a really good night and I will definitely be returning.

Went with a friend and a couple cousins, four total. Saturday night 7 p.m. reservations. Were seated almost immediately. The cousins ordered a dish for two to share, my friend ordered chicken, and I ordered lobster/shrimp. The two broths we chose were the firepot and the chicken, the lighter ones. White wine. Everything was good but in some cases the 3 minute timer wasn't enough, some times too much. I am a decent cook and I accidentally undercooked a piece of my lobster - but I ate it anyways and I was fine the next day. Everyone had a great time, good ambience, good service. I would definitely recommend it for fondue lovers.

Had my daughter’s birthday dinner. It’s fun to try something different and it’s entertaining. Can’t say the food was great but it was ok. Menu is pricey. Definitely didn’t walk out of there fully satisfied but it was a great celebration.

Decided to make a date night out of Thanksgiving this year and Urban Fondue didn't disappoint! Our fondue experience began with a special cheese: Swiss/Gouda with basil pesto and balsamic... One of the tastiest things I've ever eaten! We moved on to the entree- fondue for two, with all kinds of meats and some veggies. All were good; especially enjoyed tomato aioli and mushroom demi glacé dipping sauces (we got maybe a dozen of the in all). For dessert we had chocolate and peanut butter- large assortment of cakes and fruit for dipping and oh so tasty. Diverse and tasty cocktail menu as well. Servers were very friendly and attentive. We left extremely satisfied - a great unique Thanksgiving dinner. We'll definitely be back, holiday or not!

We had four tables, four to a table. Ended up with five at our table. I had read a review that complained about having to cook your own food. Well, I think that falls under, 'unclear on the concept'. Onward. We arrived during happy hour, and I urge you to do the same. A few extras are thrown in during that time. However, the Choice of sauces in which to cook, and sauces in which to dip seem to be regular items. With five people, it became difficult to keep track of who was cooking what. They give you an hourglass, with cooking times. I gave up trying to keep track, so just used the timer on my phone kept track of my own skewer, and had everything cooked the correct time. I don't know if they have a wine list, but they share a connection with Bartini's. Killer Martinis. I had three made with tequila. They tasted like frothy ice cream and went down quite nicely, thank you. We were there for a birthday party. There is a long table near the back, and another area for groups. Give yourself a few weeks (months?) lead time for those. A word on parking. Avoid parking next door at Trader Joe's parking lot. Good chance your ride will leave on a hook. Street parking is tight, so if you want to make the happy hour, arrive early, or, dump everyone off to claim the table while you hunt for a spot. There is public transportation all around the area. One member of our party did ride a bus, but he knows his way around town. The rest of us drove. Our waitstaff was a hoot. For that matter, everyone there was friendly and helpful. Dessert dipping was blissful. Three sauces, and all sorts of good stuff to dunk. General comment of the group was that it was not as expensive as they thought would be. So, good spot to celebrate. Don't forget happy hour. Check their website for times.

Great selection of drinks. There has to be close to 100 different “tinis” on the drink menu. Something for everyone. Nice selection of happy hour food. The portions were a bit small, and would not pay ‘non-happy’ hour prices for anything. Very small establishment, so get here early if you want a table. The service was a little slow, especially for food. Overall, a good place to hit up for happy hour with the “girls”.

This isn't our first experience with a fondue type experience. And this wasn't a bad fondue experience. It just wasn't a very good fondue experience. We can immediately see the table is way too small for a party of 5, but it appeared the only option. Our first experience with the server was him informing us there was another reservation @ 6:30, so we had to hustle through our dining experience. Not great. The food was good, bordering on delicious. The bread was unremarkable, while the french onion sausage was delightful. The appetizer cheeses were also delicious, though there didn't appear to be enough for the bread provided. Perhaps ordering the sausage and fruit plates exceeded the cheese limit? The entree was also above average, though the heat pots stopped producing heat well before we finished cooking the raw meats. Also, not great. The biggest complaint was the drink service. Our glasses were constantly empty, and getting replacements seemed to take an act of congress. Apparently they get the drinks from the bar next door, which made for a 10-15 minute turnaround time, once we finally were able to request them from the server. Super not great, and not helpful for the 2 hour turnaround they were so concerned about. Overall, it seemed like an average experience for an above average price. And don't even get me started on the parking, which had no bearing on the scores given.

Urban Fondue was an excellent location for our daughter's Sweet 16 birthday dinner! The girls had a wonderful time, amazing food & our waiter, Arturo, was the best! Very attentive, friendly, great at suggestions off the menu & overall a great experience! Thank you!

I have always enjoyed this restaurant. We visited last night for the Portland Dining Month special. We had a reservation at 6:00 PM and were seated immediately. I will note that if you don't have a reservation, they do not have anywhere to wait so you will be standing outside waiting for a table to open up. Our waiter showed us the drink menu but did not try and push us into buying cocktails or wine. We went with the smoked cheddar, brie & gorgonzola, and white cheddar with caraway for our cheese selections. The white cheddar and brie & gorgonzola were far better than the smoked cheddar. I wish the cheese fondue came with an assortment of dipping items rather than just bread. You can add dipping options but it costs extra. The 2nd course is the meats cooked in broth. I had the chef's cut with pork, seasoned steak and an assortment of vegetables and tortellini. This was my least favorite because it takes so long to cook all the individual items and our group grew restless. The dessert round we chose chocolate and peanut butter and chocolate heathbar. Both were delicious but the chocolate and peanut butter was a bit chunky and not as smooth as I would have liked. The assortment of dessert dipping options is phenomenal (cheesecake, cookie dough, fruit, cream puffs, donuts, etc.). I have not been to Melting Pot for their happy hour which I hear is pretty good, but for a dinner service, I'd pick Urban Fondue every time.

I was a bit disappointed, overall. The cheese and dessert was excellent, but I wouldn't order the entree fondue again. Service was friendly and efficient. It might be personal preference, but meat cooked in broth is not appealing to me. There was too much meat and vegetables, nobody at our table was able to finish. The vegetables and tortellini didn't really cook all the way in the broth, they needed a long time. The dessert fondue was really good, but again, so much food there was no way to finish. It would be nice to have the option of fruit, pastries, or both. We wanted more fruit in the end and had way too many pastries. I found the lighting was very dim as well. Overall, would come again to eat the cheese and bread, but was not a fan of the entree course. Portion sizes could use some improvement - too much food!

My friend and I were visiting from the east coast and on our last night we wanted to try something different and fun. We made a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. I had been to a few other fondue restaurants back home and this place was pretty average compared to them. The serving size for the cheese and the desserts was very small. The fondue sits on a candle/burner instead of on a stove thats built into the table so the fondue became a little rough/gummy. I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone.

really good fondue experience, and great cocktails (since they are affiliated with the next door restaurant 'Bartini')

Not a bad place. Little small inside, but lighting in good. Menu can be confusing so let the waiter know, he explains everything. The staff is really friendly and come by to check on you every so often. Their martini's are outstanding. Fun place to go and have a few drinks and talk with friends.

Martinis were decent but expensive. The cheese fondues were fine, lots of bread to go with it. The rest was not, not enough of anything accept tortellinis, tiniest bay scallops. But a lot of dipping sauces. Couldn't taste any raspberries in the chocolate sauce, which was cold. Service was decent.

Quaint restaurant, excellent service with the exception of pushing cocktails and wine to the point of being annoying. Portland dining month consisted of 3 courses. 1st course was the best overall. A brie and gorgonzola fondue with bread. Excellent. 2nd course was shrimp, lobster and vegetables in a chicken based broth that really was nothing memorable. They included a variety of dipping sauces but didn't enhance the lackluster taste of the few shrimp and scant pieces of lobster that came with the meal. Lobster was on the mealy side and the shrimp medium size 4-6 pieces. Dessert was a chocolate fondue with a variety of dippables that included strawberry, apricot, donuts, cream puffs, cookie dough and cheesecake. Nothing stood out and fondue was a bit on the runny side. Overall nothing that would make us return especially at the lack of food even for Portland dining month prices.

Reservations is a good idea and easily done from their website. Nice cozy place with incredible food. All the appetizer fondue is INCREDIBLE! The sauces for the entree's are yummy. Be sure to save room for the desserts!! This place is MUCH BETTER than Melting Pot any day!

Three of us tried this for a birthday outing during Portland dining month. I wish we'd opted for another choice. We arrived a little early for our reservation and there was not enough room for all 3 of us to sit to wait. A couple came in after about ten minutes without a reservation. Although they were initially told the place was full, the pushy guy of the two basically said he knew people often didn't show up, and surely they could find a place for them, which they did, seating them before us, and at a more comfortable table! The waitress, who had been working so many shifts she was losing her voice, helped us select a wine for our differing palates, and was patient, efficient, and very pleasant, even funny. As there were three of us, and the menu s built around even numbers sharing, we were pleased to get two cheese choices, not just one. I'd like to suggest that the restaurant consider offering a choice of two desserts OR two cheeses, as we could agree on the cheese, but not the chocolate, so the birthday girl, a people pleaser, did not get the dessert she would have loved trying. I do have to recommend the ruby port and brie/ gorgonzola cheeses, and both were tasty, as was the sausage side. We were not offered the extra bread to go, which made me really hope they weren't reusing it, but also that they weren't wasting it. The dessert we chose was the raspberry swirl, which was good. The dipper selection was nice, especially the cream puff😀, but I would give the cookie dough a pass. It would have been great to offer more fruit and less dough-based options for gluten-free folks. Incidentally, no mention of gluten-free option for the cheese course either. The big let down was the main course. Because the meats will be in the cooking liquid for such a short amount of time, it doesn't impart much, if any, flavour to the proteins (and we chose the ones we were told had the strongest flavour). That means they would ideally be pre-seasoned. If they were, you couldn't see or taste it. That might explain the need for nine different dipping sauces for after the cooking. The Thai peanut, plum, and blackberry ketchup were tasty. They do let you take the extra protein home, but you have to cook it first. Given the lack of seasoning, it means you can't make it taste any better at home than it did at the restaurant. You have to smother it in something. I'm not sure if they preseason the meat at the Melting Pot, but I never had a problem with it lacking taste there. I do want to mention the cute hourglasses used to monitor cooking time. They are a great idea. However, they are all three-minute timers, and most of the items require less time. It would help if there were markings on the timers with 30 second or at least one minute increments. Finally, we were disappointed that nothing special was done for the birthday girl, even though we had told the waitress, and we had gifts with us. I know they have something special, as it turned out a table close to us was also celebrating a birthday and got a special dessert presentation. If you doing visit, I would suggest the "Fondue Experience", which will save money.

Go here, get it all....cheese, meat, seafood and of course the chocolate fondue! A fun experience for a special occasion or for out of town guests. Make a reservation.

DH and I went here last night on a Groupon. We've had mixed success with Groupon - some companies deliver as promised and some treat you like a second class customer - they honor it, but bad seating, etc. Not so with Urban Fondue. The host greeted us and after a very short (3 minutes) wait seated us in a very comfortable booth that offered privacy and yet also offered a view for people watching (bonus). First off we ordered from their very large menu of martinis. I ordered a simple dirty martini. It came plain and I just chalked up to "oh well" and I started sipping. The host saw and immediately came and replaced it with a truly dirty martini. Quick and very nice about that - I really appreciate that I didn't have to point it out - they caught and remedied it immediately. DH had a huckleberry martini and he said it was delish. The restaurant has multiple people taking orders and bringing out food - all to ensure you have prompt service. In this case, the host himself took our order and walked us through the fondue experience of how it worked, time to expect for meal (about 90 minutes) to complete the courses, recommendations and really thoughtful questions about things we like (spices, heat of peppers, etc.) and I must say having a completely custom experience was delightful. The bread that came with the fondue was soft inside, crunchy crust outside and perfect complement to the cheese we had chosen (little balls of cheese in it with sweet peppers). We added to it by getting sides of housemade sausage (excellent) and grilled asparagus. It was delicious, warm, and wonderfully gooey. Piggies we were we gobbled it up. The main courses were very good. I chose the east meets west (chicken, pork and seafood) and DH went for the surf 'n turf (not a surprise). The brought out a pot of broth to cook your food in and gave us each little 3 minute timers to time our food. Your entrée comes in little sliced up pieces that you put on your dipping skewer (you get 2) and you put it in the pot and turn over the timer. When the sand runs out - magically your food is cooked and ready to eat. The trick here is to put the cooked food on your plate and before eating, start another round so by the time you are done eating, the next set is ready. I would say it took us about 10 rounds to cook all the food that came with the entrée - very generous. It is not a dine and dash concept. I really liked it because it spaced out the meal, gave us something to do throughout and we had a lot of fun sharing between us. The entrée also comes with about 8 different sauces you can put on your plate for your cooked food. Mixing and matching was fun and plenty of "honey you have GOT to try this" ensued. The only negative here was the skewers are same size as fondue skewers so you can cook only a very little bit at a time. But that's a small negative against the fun we had doing this. Frankly, with the opportunity to space out the eating, the gooey filling fondue earlier, we were giving each other the 'uh-oh' look towards the end realizing we still had the dessert course to go. We manned up and got through it - rich, thick dark chocolate with toasted hazelnuts sprinkled on top. The dipping items were: bananas, cookie dough (2 kinds), frozen cheesecake, strawberries, dried apricots and small éclair type balls - all to be dipped in that warm bowl of chocolate in front of us. When we had ordered earlier, not knowing how bountiful the dessert already was, we had ordered strawberries infused with Grand Marnier to go with this. Overkill. This dessert is so generous on it's own you don't need to add to it. At the end, when the check came it was very inexpensive thanks to our coupon. However, they also provider what it would have cost without the coupon so you can trip appropriately (appreciated that) and we saw that without it the meal would have been about $100. That's the three courses, we each had 2 martinis, and the addition of the sausage, asparagus sides and the GM infused strawberries. Very reasonable considering the care and attention the staff provide, the food itself being very fresh and palatable. A lot of attention has been given to making this a fun experience for the patrons. The one true negative here is that this is in NW Portland. We went on a Wednesday night at 7:30 and that was bad for parking. By that time most people who life in the area are home and the streets are jam packed with cars. And of course, it being NW Portland, jaywalkers not looking and trying to watch for them and look for open space at same time just a hassle. We arrived 40 minutes early and spent that time driving around and around trying to find a place to park. Next time (and there will be one) we will likely take the public transportation and just walk over. Saves a headache.

Party of 7 including 3 teenagers. Had our own section in the rear of the dining area. Ordered some sampler that had an appetiser, main course and dessert. First course had 3 delicious cheese fondue, main course had a variety of cooking pots and sauces for the beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, scallops and lobster. Dessert fondues were tiranamisu, chocolate and chocolate with peanut butter. We dipped cake, cream puffs, cookies etc. Definitley go back when in Portland. Great Meal!!!!

We went here for our special Thanksgiving dinner, both because we wanted to do something special in our new adopted Vancouver/Portland region, and because we wanted a nice dinner that would be suitable for both my wife (vegetarian) and me. The dinner was exquisite! We had a cheese fondue starter with a wonderful swiss cheese / onion / pepper mix, and we could not get enough. We'll go back some time just to eat that one delightful course! Our main courses were meats and veggies respectively, in broths that were selected by the chef to match our entree choices. We had a wonderful selection of of eight or nine sauces to dip our bites as they came out of the pots. To finish, we had an incredibly decadent dessert fondue: bananas foster dipping sauce (hot caramel with banana liquor) with bananas (of course!), marshmallows, cookie dough, strawberries, fudge and mini cream puffs. WOW! We will be back!

My wife and I have been to the Melting Pot for fondue numerous times, but wanted to try something different. This was a nice change of pace and definitely was a LOT less expensive. A local restaurant with a Portland flair, the fondue was served over a tea light. Not quite to the temperature that we would have preferred, but the flavor of the fondue outweighed the necessity of food temperature. We simply wanted a cheese and dessert, and the server was happy to accomodate. We tried two different types of cheese fondue, the gorgonzola and brie with toasted hazelnuts and another one (can't remember the cheese) finished with port wine. They were both very tasty and went great with the bread, sausage and fruit. We finished with a black forest fondue that was equally tasty, served with many different dipping options. We walked away satisfied, not overly full, with money left in our wallet to head elsewhere for drinks. If you like fondue, give this place a try.

This restaurant has an incredible atmosphere and even better food. The service was outstanding as well. We tried the Dip and Dine, which means you choose a fondue from a pretty impressive menu, 2 main courses, and a dessert. We had four people so we could share 2 of each. We tried the seasonal fondue which was figs and prosciutto . It was a little on the spendy side at $36.95 per person, however, just $31.95 DURING HAPPY HOUR MONDAY–SATURDAY TIL 6PM & ALL EVENING SUNDAY.

If you've been to the Melting Pot for fondue, this is better. It's cozy, not stuffy, not pretentious, the cheeses are delicious, the deserts are yummy! I could just come for desert. It's spendy, but definitely fun to do with friends. Wait staff was excellent! They explained everything thoroughly, and was cautious with those of us who had food allergies. Will brings more friends here next month.

My friends took me to Urban Fondue for my birthday. There were eight of us and they handled us well. We had three cheese fondues, three broth fondues and three chocolate/caramel fondue. The cheese varieties were all so great and yet different. The broth fondue was complicated and I would skip this next time. You were given raw meat and fish, a 3 minute timer and lots of instructions for safety. Not worth it. The dessert fondue was over the top sweet and yet I loved it. I will go there again but just get the cheese fondue and I loved it! The waiter was good. The 18% gratuity was automatically included and when we confirmed this he said "yes but feel free to add to it"....I didn't like that response as we ordered 4 bottles of wine as well and spent about $400 total.

This is a fun place for a new kind of dining experience, but it's a little spendy and the food is just ok.

I've been here a couple of times now, most recently last night to celebrate my nieces birthday. The Fondue Experience is a great 3 course (with an additional side to split) option. The cheese course is, by far, the star of the show. We had the monthly special which is white cheddar with sautéed onion and sun-dried tomato. Amazing!! The main course was just okay. The broth for cooking the meats/veggies was pretty flavorless and the dipping sauces, although there were many, were mostly were bland. The entree plate has lots of food on it... meats, veggies and some tortellini. You will not leave hungry! The dessert Fondue is delicious. Honestly, ours seemed slightly burnt, which I've also seen mentioned in reviews on another site. The chocolate was not silky smooth, it was lumpy and starting to clump. A sign of being overcooked. We enjoyed it nonetheless and I recommend Urban Fondue for a fun night out!

Excellent Happy Hour (at Bartini)... if you can catch it!

This was the perfect place for a nicer extended family meal. The fondue and suggestions are amazing. Definitely go on an empty stomach - even sharing with couples you'll fill up. Leave room for dessert! The staff is friendly and full of great suggestions. They even allowed us to move tables, because the booth was too low for my father to get in and out of comfortably.

Went last night with a group of 7 people. I had made reservations on open table so we had no problem being seated right away. We all had martinis from Bartini which is next door (some day we have to go to happy hour there and so the mini-fondues). We opted for the shared special. We shared several cheese fondues - my fave was the tomato basil but we also all liked the brie & gorgonzola and the ruby port. Then we each had the entree - plate of proteins you cooked in different pots of broth. then we shared 4 dessert fondues. Great fondues with big assortment of things to dip into it. I am not sure who thinks the servings were small - we all felt like we had to be rolled out at end of the night (in a good, happy way). Maybe because we did the full flight and shared? And I can not say enough about the service. Was fast but not pushy. He made a lot of great suggestions for us. And he was sensitive to a shellfish allergy we had to deal with. We will definitely be going back!

After going to Happy Hour at Urban Fondue's sister bar, Bartini, we decided to go for dinner to try the full experience. We chose the 'fondue experience' which has a price of $26.95 per person all day on Sunday (vs. $30.95 regularly). With this dinner you get a cheese appetizer to share, an entree, and dessert to share. We have tried both the smoked cheddar and tomato-basil cheddar starters and while both were very good, the tomato-basil had that extra pop of flavor. My husband chose steak and lobster for his entree and I chose prawns and lobster. The seafood was very tasty but the steak was a little tough despite adjustments to the cooking time and the portion size was smaller. And lastly dessert... aww, my favorite part! The dipping items were extensive with everything from pound cake, to fruit, to cookie dough. Both the rocky road and carmel dips were excellent. Overall, a fun and different kind of dining experience. We liked it so much we brought our families on our return trip. As a tip, get reservations... it makes things much easier!

I want to address a few common complaints I have found in the other reviews. First off, this is not a place to find a value/bargain for your food. If you want a buffet then go to a buffet. If you want a bargain meal, go to a chain restaurant and get endless shrimp or soup/bread sticks. Secondly, at this price point don't set your expectations too high. This restaurant is actually quite comparable in cost to many middle of the road chain restaurants. I spent less than $100 for 2 meals which including cheese fondue (appetizer if you will), 2 entrees, dessert and 2 drinks (alcoholic). This is not fine dining, expect to spend at least double what I spent and a dress code if you want fine dining. The quality of the food is actually not bad, the cheese fondue, albeit a bit on the smaller side was delicious. I see complaints about it being heated by candle and therefore not staying hot enough. This, however, was no problem for us perhaps because we ate fairly quickly, and only had one cheese fondue. As for the meats, I had no issue at all. The portions are on the smaller side, so most of our 12 dipping sauces went to waste except for a couple favorites. Personally I had no problem with the quality of the meats because you are dipping them. A common complaint is the amount of time it takes to cook. Be smart, cook while you eat and try all of the options, cut your meats into smaller portions and enjoy it. Towards the end we just used the scoop and laid all of our stuff in it and cooked a big batch. The broth almost seems pointless given that you are cooking it for only 3 minutes and will dip your meat anyways. The dessert was fantastic, so many things to dip, most was excellent, with exception to the items that didn't really soak up the chocolate like the dried apricot, but the cookie dough more than made up for it! All-in-all Value 4/5 (Quality for price paid - not quantity) Location 4/5 (nice neighborhood but a bit out of the way and on street parking) Taste 4/5 (was satisfied with all menu items) Experience 4/5 (fun. slightly romantic) Return Value 4/5 (likelihood of coming back) Overall 4/5 - a very solid restaurant TL;DR ::: Fun, moderately priced, worth trying, but don't set your expectations higher than the price you are paying.

Was not as impressed this time. We ordered the port wine fondue and received way too much bread for the amount of fondue we got. The flavor was good, the fondue was not thick enough like most traditional fondues. Also, the dessert fondues apparently are no longer included in the happy hour price. I would recommend the Gorgonzola fondue and wish we got it this time again.

The cheese fondue and the chocolate dessert fondue were both excellent. The entree fondues were ok. Our broth was not hot enough to cook the seafood. At first we thought it was just the timers as one was twice as fast as the other, so tried timing on my phone but still did not cook in 6 more min. Sauces did little to improve flavor of food. Waiters attentive. Decor could use an update. Reasonably priced dinner.

The fondue was OK, a little too watery, but fine. It does not serve 2 people as it says on their menu so be prepared to order more food.

We went here on a Friday night with a good friend of ours. The atmosphere was a little loud, but nothing too terrible. We did the fondue experience with the Ruby Port and Tomato Basil fondues, steak & lobster, east meets west, and chicken as the entrees, and peanut butter & chocolate fondue for dessert. We chose the roasted beef and seasoned firepot as our broths. They bring you the meat raw and you cook them in the broths, using a hourglass timer set for 3 minutes. We were also given all of the various dipping sauces available. It was a fun experience to try different broths and dipping sauces with different foods. Lots of food to share between the three of us. Recommend to try this out.

It was a fun experience to cook and dip various items into cheese, broths, and chocolate. But, ultimately I just thought it was only ok. It may have been the combos we chose but the main protein was just too bland with the broths we cooked them in.

Went here for Happy Hour (all day on Sundays and Mondays). They had a huge selection of martinis to choose from, divided into fruity, dessert, spicy, bold, herb etc. There is one for everyone's taste! Didn't have any food, but the portions looked on the smaller side. Establishment isn't very large and it's located in a popular spot in Portland so be prepared for a little bit of a wait (we waited maybe 15 mins). I will be back again!

Honestly, we had reservations at Melting Pot and cancelled them to come here after many comments from friends that this was an upgrade. They didn't lie. Urban Fondue met every ridiculous expectation I could have had and the only gripe, isn't even their fault or issue...the parking sucks. But that's the area. Uber if you can and use it as an excuse to get more drinks and get lost in the night :) We did the Fondue for 2, in this reservation I had stated we were celebrating an anniversary and also requested a booth. Upon arrival, we had a very short wait before we were taken to a cozy pillow padded romantic red booth. I strongly advise requesting one with your reservation if you're going as a couple. It helped drown out the noise and has a way of making you feel special away from the other tables strewn throughout. The building is quite noisy and during the dinner rush (we went at 7pm on a Saturday night), it was moderate noise. Nothing to be annoyed by but not as quiet as you might like during slower times. Now, we'll start with the drinks...they are next door to Bartini and its my understanding the staff is combined along with the restaurant and bar. The menu is almost overwhelming, narrowing down a drink can take a minute, but luckily you have a lot of time during this experience to try a few different ones if you'd like. I had the seasonal wine flight and he had an extra dirty martini...we both were very pleased. Additionally we were given water and always offered refills throughout dinner. Back to the Fondue for 2 dinner...such an inexpensive special occasion dining experience. $37 each, we got to pick a cheese fondue (get the RUBY PORT, OMG!) that came with bread, we got to pick two different entrees and broths, a side (fingerling potatoes were yumm), and then a dessert fondue which you can't go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate. The assortment of dips and foods was insane. To top it off, we got champagne and strawberries. Thank you URBAN FONDUE!! <3

I decided on Urban Fondue over Melting Pot in an effort to support the local business, and the experience was better than average. Plus: waiter had a great personality and was very helpful in navigating the menu. Minus: the fondue timer hourglasses are for three minutes. Only about half of the items I got in my entree needed 3 minutes, the rest were 1, 1.5, or 2 minutes. Not to mention, the 'heartier meats' (pork, chicken) took longer than the 3 minutes, so the cooking time instructions were worthless. We just ended up throwing everything in there and fishing pieces out like stew meat! Plus: drinks were amazing! The Diablo, featuring habanero-infused vodka, and the Oatmeal Cookie with dessert were amazing. Minus: booth seats sunk quite far down, you feel like a 5 yer old at the dinner table. I'm 5'10" and it was uncomfortably low seating. Overall: if you don't drink cocktails with dinner, don't go. The drinks were definitely the highlight of the experience.

This is not good fondue, not good service, not quiet and not worth the BIG price tag. We felt rushed from the moment we sat down. The servers all seemed upset to work there. We ordered a couple of salads an appetizer, a couple of cheese fondues with several sides to dip along with the bread and a couple of dessert fondues. We were served both salads, the appetizer, all of the sides and the cheese fondues all at once on a tiny 4 person table. The servers seemed to want to just throw the plates down wherever and get the heck out of there. At a point they were putting one plate on top of another. The quality of the bread, the cheese and the sides was very poor. The fondue itself was just ok. The chocolate fondues and those side were also gross. I’m pretty sure they picked up most of the ingredients from a 7-11. Don’t bother.

I wish there was a 3.5 rating, but alas there isn't. There wasn't anything wrong with the meal--just nothing special. Did Dining month, the value is good, plenty of food and good quality. You start with a choice of cheese fondue (served with bread and made for 2) The Port cheese sauce was very tasty. Next moved on to entree, picked lobster/ steak and the chicken. Hot pots of broth are brought to the table designed to match your selection. Broths were ok, nothing special. Thought there would be a bit more flavor. Dessert is one of the chocolate fondues, selection is nice. We tried peanut butter and the caramel. Caramel is good, peanut butter a bit too sweet. It is served with 2 cookie doughs (too sweet) cheesecake, poundcake, dried apricot, pineapple and strawberry. Possibly a donut. Lots of sweet, felt like more fruit would have been better. Service was great and is a good value. Place is tired. Booth seats are butt sprung, upholstery is really showing its age.

We decided to give Urban Fondue a try for my daughter's birthday. Having done The Melting Pot previously. We had a reservation. When we arrived (on time), we were told that it would be a 15-20min wait to be seated, even though we had a reservation. We had underage people in our party, and couldn't wait in the bar. So, with no other place for our party to wait, we were stuck standing outside in February cold weather. Once we were finally seated, it took another 15-20min for the server to take our drink order, and another 20min to get our drinks. By this time we are a full hour past our reservation. We are given minor apologies from our server, but no hurry to fix the delays. When we were able to order, we informed the server that we had someone that required gluten free, and another with a nut allergy. The server assured us we would not have to worry about any of our choices, and that he would supply gluten free bread for the cheese portion. When the cheese arrived, we noticed (after several bites), that one of the cheese options contained hazelnuts. Luckily, the person with the nut allergy was not allergic to tree nuts. Once we told the server, his only response was "oh, sorry about that". Upon completion of the meal, there was no compensation for the MANY critical errors in service. To add insult to injury, the full 18% gratuity was added to our bill because we had a party of 6. The only reason I didn't have it removed was that the busboy was fantastic, and I didn't want to penalize him for the servers lack of ability to do his job. Beyond the service, the cheese course was very good. The main course was just OK. Trying to determine if lobster is cooked appropriately in that lighting by just using a timer is a bit foolish. The dessert course was fantastic. I will also say the gluten free bread was very good as well. If you look at my other reviews, you will see that I am fair in my perception of good food and service. This experience was abysmal, and we definitely will not be going back.

My friends had been raving about this place so I decided to try it. I was not at all disappointed with any part of my experience. Our waiter had excellent service, explained the menu well (they have savoury fondue!!!), make good recommendations and best of all, the prices were reasonable for the quality of food we ate. We ordered the cheesecake fondue (literally cheescake components melted in to the fondue). A sweet cream cheese base topped with berry syrup drizzle and graham cracker crumbs served with pieces of sponge and cheesecake, cookie dough, fresh fruit and doughnut pieces. The atmosphere is intimate and private if you are in a booth. Overall a clean place and great place to eat a fondue meal! I will definitely be back.

We celebrated Thanksgiving at the Urban Fondue. I made a reservation via Open Table and received a call the day before to confirm the reservation. Our server was patient and explained the menu. We had cheese fondue, but different ones. We tried the Ruby port and brie and gorgonzola. Both tasted good and were filling. We had red wine and it was good. It is a unique experience. You should plan to spend some time. We had a fruit and cheese plate and it was nice It is not something you should do in a rush. Parking is tough. I would recommend for special occasions and or if you are looking for a change of pace.

Everyone had a fondue pot in the 60's and made some melted cheese concoction... Well this is fondue done right ! It can be a light snack or a three course meal - then desert. They have a wide variety of offerings. You can begin with a cheese fondue and then progress to meat / seafood fondue pot, followed up with a chocolate fondue with fruit and other delights. The restaurant can be very busy on the weekends - so plan ahead or go early. Parking can be a challenge on weeknight and weekends as well but it worth a slight walk.

Recently had dinner here with a party of 5. We should have taken advice of friends--go for appetizers (excellent cheese fondue!) or dessert (the chocolate selections are great) but skip the entree. Sauces are crucial for good main dish fondue. The sauces here are obviously from a bottle--but you could go to any good market and get better. If the restaurant really wants to make a name for itself, it should make it's own sauces. Service was so-so. Not enough forks provided (even when we asked for more!). Patrons should have a fork to eat with that does not go into the common pot and should have at least two forks to cook with. We might return for the cheese, but not the full meal.

The dinner I had here was amazing! There were three courses of fondue including a cheese appetizer fondue, a fondue for dipping a variety of meats, and an amazing dessert fondue. There were so many fondue options that looked delicious, it took us a while to order. Urban Fondue is a little on the expensive side, but it's great for a fun and formal night out with family and friends. Well worth the visit!

We decided to give this place a try and were not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable and quickly made great food and drink recommendations. You can enjoy a cozy dinner while watching and mingling with all that Portland has to offer. You can walk around and take in the neighborhood before or after your meal. Drinks were tasty and not too pricey and you get more than enough great food for the cost. We will be returning for an evening with the kids.

Bartini is part of Urban Fondue and is a great little place for Happy Hour in the Alphabet District. Service was prompt and our waitress was super friendly. We had a table for the four of us and we decided to share a few items: Ahi Tuna Sliders - Good amount of Ahi Tuna to bun ratio. I loved the pickled ginger in the sliders. Delicious and satisfying. Mashed Potato Marini - Mashed potatoes with brie and blue cheese sprinkled on top. Mixed them into the potato and it was gooey and comforting. Salmon Mousse - Was average. It tasted like Philidelphia salmon cream cheese. Crab and artichoke dip - creamy and a great compliment to our drinks. Pork Tacos - This was my favorite item. The pork was flavorful and the lime really set off the lettuce and sauce within the soft tortilla taco too. Martinis - I asked for a dirty martini and it was the perfect amount of olive juice and vermouth. It was strong and they gave us a huge amount as well. My kind of place!

It was hotter in the building than it was outside on a hot summer day. We had to go outside to cool off and it was over 90 degrees outside. It took over an hour to order and get our food. The food was not great and very expensive. Not worth the time and money to go.

Urban Fondue is in our neighborhood and it always looks cozy and inviting. So, on a chilly Friday winter evening we went in (reservations needed if during prime dinner hours). Head waiter was friendly and solicitous. We ordered standard fondue and also chocolate fondue for dessert Sausage and vegies for fondue were cold, and cheese was not warm enough to bring them to an appetizing temperature. Cheese ran out long before we were done with things to put into it. We mentioned this to waiter, who said this always happens. Too bad for us. Chocolate fondue was similarly not warm enough. Not expensive for a dinner, but pricey for what we got..

We love this restaurant. The cheese fondues are delicious; especially the white cheddar caraway. We like the fact they use broths instead of oils for the entrees. The desserts are scrumptious. Our two favorites are Caramel Cognac and Tiramisu. The servers are very attentive and very helpful on your first visit.

Parking is insane, we had to park far away though we visited on a Saturday night. Tables are crammed in this place to the point where servers can't help but touch you when they was by. The food tasted fine and the experience was interesting but I guess we are not fondue people. We had never done it before and prefer not to cook our own food, so we won't return. You cook your own veggies and protein in broth at your table and monitor it with timers they give you. It was so dark in there that we had to hope our food was fully cooked by time and not sight.

Great little fondue place. I've been to both the Melting Pot and Urban Fondue in Downtown Portland. They are both great experiences. How they differ- Urban is cozy, more laid back. The tables are smaller and the environment is less formal. There are no burners on the tables at Urban - they have those little sterno cups under the clay pots for warmth. They broth, cheese, and chocolates are brought to you already smoldering hot. Unlike Melting pot where they put the ingredients in right in front of you. I agree with other reviews - the multitude of sauces presented to us was a bit daunting. Ok - if there was one negative- it would be the excessive sauce presentation. Still -GREAT time and GREAT food.

Fondues are simple meals and meant to be enjoyed with family and friends. They're casual - it's as much about the conversation, chit-chat and banter as it is the food. Urban Fondue seems to be trying a bit too hard to be cool and sophisticated instead of letting the food and the experience be the selling point. The cheese fondue we had was really good. Great in fact. We complemented this with a nice bottle of wine. The chocolate fondue we shared after was complicated and fussy...fruit, cream puffs, sponge cake and cookie dough. Cookie dough..what's that about? So here's my advice. (1) Don't make a visit here all about a special occasion. We'd just come from Trader Joe's and had some shopping with us. Big deal. (2) Don't be persuaded by the waiting staff to order the 3 course meal. It's too much. (3) Go for any cheese fondue, grab a bottle of wine and if you opt for the chocolate fondue to finish, (4) keep it simple and ask for just fruit. You'll have a great meal. Enjoy.

This place is a horrible ''wanna-be" Melting Pot. The cheese fondue that we ordered tasted very suspiciously like Velveeta... I think this place cuts corners and it shows in their food quality. The only good part was decent service. Urban Fondue is more like Urban Fon-don't.

Super fun place. Veronika was our server and she was amazing. Super prompt and knowledgeable of the menu. Really enjoyed dinner. The hostess was soooo helpful with our trip plans. While we waited she gave us good ideas for our trip. Really appreciate that. Everyone was kind and accommodating. Make reservations it’s full. Love the Brie fondue and the heath bar dessert. I could totally see why people only do cheese and dessert. It’s plenty. We had the full meal and wasn’t too too much but was a lot of food. Come hungry

The 1/2 price menu @ 4;00pm is GREAT! Nothing to dislike except it"s small and fills up fast.Great location right next to Trader Joes afterwards.

First off we were seated outside by the garbage. It smelled awful! Then we were served the worst martinis we had ever had! You would think with a name like Bartini that they would serve good martinis. We were sadly mistaken! Watered down and disgusting! Next we order cheese fondue. You would think being called Urban Fondue that the fondue would be yummy. Again we were sadly mistaken. It tasted like jarred alfredo sauce. We will never return!

I recently purchased a groupon for this restaurant. I failed to read closely the fine print that it had a short use by date and only good M-Th. We were celebrating our 33 year anniversary and decided to go to Portland for the event. Even though I grew up in SE Portland I now try to stay away as it has become too weird for me. The location of the restaurant was a perfect example of this, parking can be a challenge and except for all the people using electronic devices at the sidewalk tables I thought we had traveled back into the 60’s. I like to people watch but seeing the guy wash his feet and shoes in the 4 corner public fountain was a little much! If you like a martini you might want to start next door at Bartini’s during their happy hour a lot of their drinks are ½ off. Somehow the two are connected but do not try and get the ½ prices inside the restaurant, no can do! If you want to relax at Bartini’s first give yourself an hour because the restaurant is really strict about your reservation time, which by the way reservations are mandatory, I watched as t least 4 couples walked away because they could not get a table until 10 pm, it was Monday night and not even 5:30 pm yet! The décor and atmosphere is nice but definitely crowded, this would not a place for a romantic dinner. The food and our server, Jennifer is what made the evening great. She provided us with enough information and suggestions we needed to use our three course Groupon. For us we went with the Brie & Gorgonzola cheese fondue, the Urban Fondue for two, and Heathbar fondue desert. All of our food came fresh and there was plenty of it. This is a great adventure place just be ready to drop an easy $100 with tip.

Service was a little slow as was slammed but server (China) was very helpful and her suggestions were right on the money. If going there suggest make reservations as space is limited and make sure allow for couple hours as is an experience not just a meal. Ruby Port cheese fondue was amazing, would have licked the pot if could of. Tiramisu fondue for the desert also highly recommend. Actually wish had just done those two as entree was only so so, hard to get a good cook on the tortellini and some of the vegetables. Pricing fairly average for a fondue place, by that I mean count on at least $80 for a couple that has full meal and 2 drinks plus tip (and if lucky and get China as server you are going to want to tip well 😃)

The service was excellent but there was a teen age party going on at the same time we were there. the girls were so noisy, we couldn't visit at times. The staff should have, needed to, ask the girls to tone it down so the other diners could enjoy their dining experience. The food was good but the portions were incredibly small.

Worst wait staff in town

My wife and I went to Urban Fondue on a Saturday to celebrate her birthday. We arrived for our 7pm reservation and were surprised to find the restaurant only half full. It doesn't appear that reservations were necessary as it never filled beyond about 2/3 full all evening. All of the food was good but not great. We ordered the full meal deal for about $32 per person, and drank one of the less expensive wines by the glass. We started with the Ruby Port cheese fondue, which was served with chunks of sourdough. For a few extra dollars we added an order of asparagus. All of this appeared fresh and tasted great. For entrees, she had the Northwest Chicken, and I had the Steak & Lobster (which was an extra 2 or 3 dollars). All three were fresh and tasted good, but we both wondered how sure we could be that the chicken and lobster were cooked enough. They provide sand timers, but we both cooked well beyond the recommended 3 minutes just to be sure. We used the Seasoned Firepot as our cooking broth and it tasted great. Our side dish was the Yukon potatoes, and they were the weakest part of the whole meal. They reminded me of the dehydrated au gratin potatoes I've made at home when desperate for a quick side dish. Dessert was really good. We ordered the Housemade Chocolate Fondue (this is the basic one) and it was served with a plate of items to dip. Most of the items were fresh and tasted great (strawberries, banana, pineapple, pound cake), but we could do without the cookie dough and the cheesecake. Both of those were just goo on the plate. A quibble: the wine pours were very skimpy. Our total bill was about $150 including meal, wine, and tip. Tip: There's a very small underground parking garage on Flanders at 23rd. $4 for the entire evening!

Urban Fondue is an excellent departure from traditional dining fare. The ambiance is very funky 23rd street hipster dark. Time your visit as it fills up fast during peak hours. Explore the menu and don't miss the drink menu served from the "Bartini" bar next door. In fact, these two are a perfect little combo. Get gourmet martinis in the fondue restaurant or get fondue in the martini bar. Excellent happy hour in the Bartini.

I came here for my going away dinner with colleagues before moving back home from Portland to NYC. We had a wonderful time here and every fondue we ordered were delicious. We had about 15 people so we pretty much had all of the ones they have on the menu to share. Of course the various chocolate and dessert ones ended up being the stars of the meal for everyone, I actually enjoyed the savory ones just as much. Great decently quick service especially for a large group.

Reservations of course! Good company a must! Better quality food NEEDED.. Why not? Faster service please oh please......pLEASE, We were talked into the three course special. Take my advice DONT. But do....ORDER One of the cheese fondues and some sausage and fruit. I loved the bread and the cheese fondues. But, having waitstaff bring raw meats to my table 45 minutes after bringing the cooking broths, did not leave me with the feel of assurance I need when cooking raw meats. No timer, no explanation of what to do. I am an accomplished cook but, this was sketchy. The seafood was brought UNMARINTATED ... SO ended up being pretty tasteless. I truly believe they ran out of meat or workers or both, hence the 45 minute wait for our entrees. The dessert fondue was pleasant but, the cut up desserts seemed to be of mass produced variety. Just like a Costco tasting. I must say the martini was superb. So go order some cheese fondue some fruit or sausage and you will leave happy and not feeling like your hard earned money is wasted.

We went to Urban Fondue with another couple and had a great meal in a cozy, fun setting. The food, drinks & service were all great. If you want to experience something outside the norm, this is it. If you don't mind eating early, you can get a 3-course fondue meal for $26 per person if seated by 6 pm. Highly recommend it!!!

I love fondue and the only place that does it well is the Melting Pot. I love trying restaurants that aren't chains so I gave Urban Fondue a try. I love the decor, it is a little goth and I love that ambiance so it started out great. The appetizer course, a cheese fondue was really good. The dessert fondue was really good but the middle left something to be desired. I am guessing the reason the Melting Pot is the only fondue restaurant around is because perhaps this is harder than it looks. The foods, were presented sloppily. Even the dessert offerings were kind of just thrown on the plate, but even though they're waiting to be dipped, it should be attractive to the diner. The same could be said for the main course, it was just sloppily presented and the broth wasn't flavorful enough. Because of the ambiance, I would have wine and cheese fondue on a date, or even wine and dessert fondue, but I would go elsewhere for the main course.

Was week of Valentines Day and didn't have a reservation. Just wanted to take my daughter for dessert and was seated immediately! Great service. Many fondue selections to choose from w/ lots of goodies to dip! We had the Black Forest Chocolate Fondue. It had wonderful cherries in it, so good!

Good but not my favorite fondue. Nice ambiance.

I have had fondue in too many cities around the world to count, but this was quite lovely. We had a big corner booth and ordered the complete cheese, meat and chocolate and were impressed with every course! Definitely get the garlic sausage with the cheese, it is divine! We had lobster and shrimp and chicken and pork and scallops(the scallops were miniscule and not good, would have been better to just leave them off). Our waiter was attentive and helpful and the martinis from Bartini (attached and next door) were quite yummy (key lime is fabby!). The place was packed and many walk ins had to be turned away! Make a ressie!

This is the coolest place ever....and I love a good martini. We had happy hour in the 1st part of the establishment called Bartini. The menu is very, very nice, the price were great, and the services...well, just fabulous. The portion size were larger than we realized so we ordered too much food, but we manage to taste everything...and it was all great. Bartini is small, snug, but the ambiance is black and royal blue, so it just fine. Will be going back, and will be doing to the 2nd part of the establishment, the fondue part.

My husband and I went here for the first time a few years ago and then compared it with the "other" popular fondue restaurant, The Melting Pot. We definitely like Urban Fondue better. The service was fabulous and the smaller atmosphere made the evening much nicer. We just returned last week with friends and we LOVED our food. Our favorites are the brie/gorgonzola cheese starter; the steak and lobster main course, and the Tiramisu dessert fondue. We also had some amazing drinks. Parking was a bit of a problem, but the food was worth it!

Deep red decor, melty cheese, cooking in broth, retro sauces, modern sauces, chocolate fondue, and 100+ martinis. Skip the plain cheddar (boring) but the mixed cheeses are great. More fruit with the dessert fondues would be better. Dipping cookie dough in ultra sweet fondue is a bit much. Overall worth the trip when you're looking to rock the cords & turtleneck.

We selected Urban Fondue as we were searching for a unique experience to share with my wife's visiting father and our adult sons and girl friends. UF really fit the bill. Along with very tasty food, it was a fun adventure to have such a

I brought my family here with a Groupon I had purchased for $78. The location is Northwest Portland, where there is a lot of foot traffic. Parking on the street is very scarce, and if you park in the Trader Joe's parking lot, be prepared for an $80 parking ticket. The Mait're De informed me of this. The meal, and service, was fantastic. We had 2 cheese pots for the opening course (Cheddar and Tomato Basil) served with bread and a pear, apple and grape plate. My wife, 23 year old son, 16 year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The 2nd course, we each got to pick our meat plate. The kids chose the chicken and my wife and I chose the chicken, pork, scallops and shrimp plate. Two pots accompanied (Chicken broth and Beef broth). They also gave us each a 3 minute sand timer to time the food cooking in the pot. Everything takes roughly 3 minutes except for the Tortellini that took 8 minutes. We also chose 2 differing potato dishes to accompany, both very good. It came with 8 different sauces to use after cooking. The desert course was superb. We chose 2 pots (Peanut Butter & Chocolate and Bananas Foster). Absolutely KILLER! They give you Doughnut Pieces, Cookie Dough, Cheesecake Bites, Bananas and Strawberries to dunk or drizzle the sauces on. An incredible meal that we will try again. Now that we know where to park (23rd and Flanders Parking Garage).
Pretty decent but not coming back
Had reservations for a booth that wasnt ready when we showed up. The smoked cheese appetizer was excellent! The main course (seafood for me and lobster for my girlfriend) was on the small side for the price but it was decent. My girlfriends lobster was fantastic! The pancetta with goat cheese was covered in a beef demiglaze that was way to salty and made my girlfriend sick. The drinks were amazing and bartini next door was awesome! They have some of the best martinis in town!!! We will be going back to bartini but not to urban fondue.
