The food is amazing here. Much more high end than you might expect being in a hotel. The Chicken Katsu sandwich is amazing! There bar is really well stocked with some great beers on tap.

My friend and I happened upon here when out looking for a place to have brunch. The atmosphere was fun and hip, and the staff was very friendly. But most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious!! There are multiple options to choose from, but I couldn’t resist the huevos rancheros. The pork was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. And it matched perfectly with my fruity bubbles. I’ll definitely be back!

You don’t always know what to expect from hotel restaurants but Urban Steel is a gem! I’ll go out if my way to dine here any time I’m in the area. We enjoyed a variety of dishes family style and they were all delish: maple bacon brussel sprouts, short ribs, kale cesar and the chicken Kastu sandwich. Flavors were complex, portions generous and presentation excellent. Good local wine and beer offerings too!

This place is truly a hidden gem. Located in the hotel lobby of a Slabtown hotel, Urban Steel Kitchen + Bar, was an unexpected find. After researching restaurants in the area we decided to give it a try. It's a very underwhelming place from the outside. But once inside, you'll find both ambience and tasty eats. The cocktails are fresh and the food is amazing. I cannot recommend the brioche french toast enough, it is the best I've ever eaten. The gentleman that helped us was basically running the entire front of the restaurant by himself and he was doing it with ease. Make a trip over to Slabtown to try this place, you will not be disappointed!

This hotel did not previously have a restaurant and have revamped the lobby to accommodate one and what a great choice they made! Breakfast was delicious with every employee I came in contact with excited about the food and the hotel. I have always been very impressed with all the Silver Cloud Hotels in Washington and this one in Portland, they have made something good even better. No more having to go for a walk to find food and no longer being at the mercy of hiring someone to bring food especially if you arrive after traditional dinner hours. Thank you for this excellent option! :>

We were staying at the hotel and ordered room service for something special for my daughter. She loved being able to choose what she wanted and the service was very quick. She LOVES cheeseburgers and theirs was one of her favorites that she's ever had. We also ordered salad, fries and some appetizers. Everything was wonderful including the service. We also visited for breakfast which was just as great - don't miss out on their lemon pancakes!

I went for lunch before spending the day around Portland. The service from the bartender was friendly, helpful and would up being a fun conversation. She recommended the chicken katsu sandwich. The chef there really knows how to create a good contrast of flavors. It will for sure go here again even if I’m not staying at the silver cloud because it’s full on worth the visit for the food alone. I’m sad I didn’t do breakfast there

Great food and drinks. Nice little spot to hit after work or on the go. Brussels and fries were great for food and they made a fantastic Manhattan! Plus they have a great wine list!

The Silver Cloud is a great place to stay. I away give it high marks but I also diss its food. I want to make amends. I have actually never eaten in this restaurant. I have had items from the room service menu several times. The problem is I am old and have certain things I expect…oatmeal, bacon or ham or sausage and eggs, sandwiches etc. the menu puts me off because the offerings don’t look like anything I would want-except the salmon. It is because everything is trendy- the sauces, pestos , wine sauces (I can’t have alcohol ). But the food may actually be excellent. I think you should stay in the hotel and eat at their restaurant and tell us how you liked the food. I hope you give 5 stars to offset my prior remarks. I may try it myself before I leave. Enjoy.

I wish I had taken pictures of the food but I was so enthralled by my first taste that I lost all common sense lol . This is a must go to spot!!! We started off with drinks. These were craft cocktails and fancy so our server was kind in answering all of our silly questions as I am not a craft person. I am now though!!!. The attention to detail made the drinks not only beautiful to look at but the taste matched the presentation. Our server, Sam, was extremely knowledgeable in guiding each of us to what we would appreciate most. She did not disappoint, in any of her recommendations. Now, let’s talk about the food..... if I lived in Portland this would be my go to place.!! Yes, it is in a hotel But that doesn’t deter from the mouth watering creations that our chef prepared for us. All I hope is that food net work does not find him because I want him selfishly for myself anytime I visit. He wasn’t giving up his recipe for his aioli sauce that came with the delicate thin fries that were done to perfection. :( The Brussel sprouts were slightly sweet with the perfect balance of who knows what goodness he put in there but I’m sold. Yes!! I love Brussel sprouts. Who knew!! Well at least here I do. So we all decided to finish the night off just sharing as we had been with a brunch item as you can order all day long ;) pork belly hash. Yep. I said it. Pork belly hash with poached eggs all done to perfectly melt In your mouth in a symphony of delectable yumminess. Just thinking about it has my mouth watering in anticipation of my next visit!! Highly recommend!!! They do carry out and delivery. Wonder if they would deliver to Key West LoL

We did a quick staycation at the hotel and really enjoyed it. Dinner at the restaurant was great—everything came out quickly and tasted amazing. The truffle pasta with pork belly and the garlic fries were definitely the highlights. As a special treat, we also ordered room service for breakfast the next morning. The portions were generous, and the French toast was so good that it’s worth coming back just for that. Having a latte delivered to my room while I'm still in pajamas is such a treat! If you’re looking for a smaller, more intimate spot that isn’t super crowded like a lot of Slabtown restaurants these days, definitely check out Urban Steel.

We had breakfast in the space that before remodeling was free motel breakfast. No more free, it is all a pay menu. Menu selections were attractive and reasonably priced but not adequately prepared. Service was a big negative. Server reported that he had not served before and was really a chef. Very nice but shouldn't be my problem because their serve staff didn't show up for work. We had to ask for salt and pepper, hot sauce, etc. even water. It probably would have been more agreeable had to chef stayed in the kitchen and the server waited on tables.

We came down from our third floor room at the hotel to get a bite to eat for dinner here in their dining room on a Saturday night in June in the 6 o'clock hour. There was only one other party present when we arrived, but the place filled in more throughout the following hour. Charlie was our server. My son got a Coke for $3, whereas I went with a Breakside IPA beer on draft for $9. As a comparison, I was able to get the same Breakside IPA beer on draft at a restaurant in Gleneden Beach, OR the night before for only $6.50 so a bit of a hefty markup going on here. Food wise, my son ordered a Cacio e Peppe ($24) with added Katsu Chicken ($7 extra). My wife got the Grilled Chicken Club for $19. A Chicken Katsu Sandwich ($18) with a house salad was my dinner choice. It's a tasty sandwich and you're not doing wrong by choosing it, especially with a beer. As a night cap I also had a Manhattan with Buffalo Trace bourbon for $14. Comparison time again! I was able to get an Old Fashioned with BT bourbon at a restaurant in Gleneden Beach, OR the night before for only $10.50 so still seeing a hefty markup, at least when it comes to the bar.
Delicious meal
We stayed in the Silver Cloud hotel and took the easy option to dine in. And were pleasantly surprised - fresh and inventive food and nice cocktails. My mom had the burger, and I had a few different vegetarian starters - garlic fries, kale Cesar salad and fried brussles sprouts. All large portions, delicious, and the Brussels were to die for - loved the food!
