Good Vegan Spot

By Yolanda H |

If you want a true vegan spot, you have to visit! There were plenty of choices on the menu. I really like that! On a not so positive note, my food came out a bit more on the cool side. That was such a turn off for my taste buds.

Yes, Yes, Yes

You want vegan food done right?! This is the place to be. We came to VFH after going to the State Fair and we were not disappointed. I got the Chick'Em Fried Oyser Mushroom basket that came with fresh cut homemade fries. My friend ordered several of the sides - black beans, two orders of spinach, mashed potatoes, and a piece of cake. My basket was delicious and had a perfect crunchy texture, but was a little greasy for me, but was still yummy. Those fries were the perfect length and thickness. My friend said the spinach was delicious, but the beans and mashed potatoes were just okay. The cake was good, but the icing was a little sweet for our tastes. Overall this is a great local place to try good vegan food. Yes, we will definitely be back again.

Excellent all around. Something for everyone!

Wow! This food was delicious! First but not last visit. Solo, couples, families, friend groups were all there at 3 in the afternoon. Oak Cliff area in a converted home. Extensive menu. We started with an appetizer sampler- my fav was the buffalo cauliflower. Husband got Cajun baked pasta- huge portion. He loved it. I got a greens and feta on flatbread and would happily get again. Lots of choices from breakfast items, salads, burgers, seafood and sandwiches. Took our German choc cake to go as we were stuffed. Very nice staff. Parking a little tricky. There are a few spaces in back. Can’t wait to go back.

Highlight of a bad trip to the city of Dallas

I am so happy to have found this spot. Huge portions, original entrees and items on the menu, great taste, and very filling. I was so full for 2 days after trying the chicken fried cauliflower entree and boudin balls. Please open a location in Austin. North Austin specifically.

Huge portions, excellent taste

Huge portions, excellent taste and presentation. Fish-fried oyster mushrooms were to die for. Thick breading, huge mushrooms, really tasty. Jambalaya is very filling and has just the right amount of spice. Shrimp po-boy has vegan shrimp that were an impressive likeness to real shrimp in every way. Closer than impossible burgers are to real beef. We had to do take out because of COVID but will eagerly go back.

Vegan Food House

A nice little spot in the Bishop Arts district. This place opened in 2019. As the name indicates, it’s all vegan.

Great Food

Great food, simple and plain! If you are looking for delicious vegan food with a creole twist, then this is your place!

Fried and dense

By Odysseus King |

Labeling something Vegan doesn’t necessarily mean one will be eating a nutritious and satisfying meal. It was a Saturday. The online menu is lengthy but of a similar vibe. Lots and lots of fried food and potatoes and sandwiches. The wait was over 30 minutes. The food was a bit too salty for my tastes and everything was heavy and dense. This wasn’t what I expected or desired but they obviously have a following that feels differently to me. The prices are high.

Homestyle Vegan

We decided to celebrate and since one of us loves vegan soul food, we decided to give Vegan Food House a try. It was so good! Highlights were the fried vegan shrimp po boy sandwich and the smothered chicken seitan in creole gravy. The only miss were the fries - too soggy. Everything else was delicious. The service was good and the vibe very homestyle. We'll definitely go back.

On my first visit to VFH, I was really impressed and want to go back soon. You will find lots of creative vegan dishes with a creole flair in a cozy spot with a unique atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful service.

Amazing food and lots of of variety

By Phgn |

It looks like a house from outside, but it’s a cool restaurant inside. They have open seating and you order food by scanning the QR code. The food is just amazing! They have so much variety. We tried 4-6 different food items and all of them tasted sooo good. Would definitely go there when we are in the area.

I took my Son for his birthday. we both got a togo box . the food had no flavor except for salt. I order I bunch of different dishes because it was a celebration and I wanted to try a variety of their dishes. I was really unfappy with the taste and the quality. Haven't been back.

One of the best vegan meals I've ever had HANDS DOWN

Seriously impressive. Awesome food and portions, beautiful space in an adorable house with a lovely and spacious porch. I will tell all my friends to go here. Support them!

Good greasy all vegan food - but bring time

By Vieltraveller |

Cute vegan restaurant in a regular house a bit outside of Bishop Arts District. The food is more comfort and greasy style food, so nothing light, but the food was excellent. Consulting the menu and ordering through their website though wasn't convenient at all and the wait for the meals after ordering was very long.

Not my cup or tea

VFH has a lot to love about the ideal and concept of vegan eating? Who gets to decide what the universal vegan eating should Look or Taste like? YOU do👏For myself and my husband VFH didn't quiet meet that standard;(Considering we are new to the lifestyle eating of plant base. Our standards aren't quiet established yet. So the atmosphere is GREAT and would make for a pleasant eating experience. However that does NOT translate to presentation and taste of food. I had the New York Cheese sandwich. It was suppose to be similar to a chopped beef or sloppy joe. Didn't quiet get there for me and the one dimensional flavor translated to a salty taste. Considering we switched to celtic salt which is VERY salty. I didn't think eating out at a vegan place would ever have salty food. The 2 bunned sandwiches were good portion just not eatable for me or my husband:(. My husband had the burger it was passable. The watermelon tea drink was really sweet and tasted nothing like watermelon:(To be fair my husband and I had dined at DaMunchies and V-Eats and Spiral diner as well as ITSO and Sankofa so our eating out is very limited and we are rebuilding our taste buds. In our other life we dined at Black Jack Pizza(best burger)Furrs (most economic) Celebration(fine dinning)Other than that we mostly ate at home basic meals. So although VFH isn't our cup of tea I would still reccomend you give it a try for yourself it might be yours🍴

Vegan Food that tasted like its meat counterpart

By Samoray H |

I am a new vegan that started raw and am now on cooked food. Felt like eating out and was looking for a vegan restaurant that wasn't just salads. Decided on VFH and was not disappointed. I had the Fried chickem and the Fried fish. Amazing my mom who is not vegan came with me and had a smile on her face the entire time. Service was great and food was great. The mac and cheese was to die for and the red beans and rice tasted great. Pleased and will be back.10/10

I made a trip to Dallas for my Birthday dinner, and I had to top at the Vegan Food House. Soon as I walked in I was greeted by the server. The atmosphere was amazing a nice. I love the set up to order your food using a QR code at the table. The food was amazing I ordered, The Stewed Creole Jackfruit over Rice and OMG!!! The food was seasoned and so fresh. Everything was above my expectations!!
