As someone who has lived in this area for over 14 years—long before the development of Rock Rose and the arrival of Velvet Taco—it’s disheartening to witness how quickly a simple situation can be mishandled when leadership defers to performative authority over reason. I was seated within Velvet Taco’s designated front-facing patio area, which is part of the business’s premises, albeit unenclosed. I had an unsealed beverage and immediately offered a simple, lawful resolution: to have the drink resealed. Rather than accept this compromise, a contracted security guard escalated the situation unnecessarily. He claimed I was in violation of a TABC regulation, though he lacked both the legal standing and training to enforce such a statute. If a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission violation had genuinely occurred, the responding police officers—present on the scene twice—would have had the authority to enforce it immediately. They did not. Both times, the officers arrived, assessed the situation, and left without taking action, implicitly confirming that no legal infraction had taken place. To Velvet Taco’s credit, management did reseal the beverage, aligning with the solution I offered from the beginning. However, what followed was persistent and condescending treatment from both management and the security guard, who continued to posture as an authoritative figure well beyond his role. At no point did Velvet Taco’s leadership take initiative to de-escalate or reassume control over a situation that was fully within their domain—literally and administratively. Instead, they allowed a third-party security contractor to dictate the customer experience, attempting to enforce laws he was neither qualified nor empowered to act upon. This not only created an unnecessary confrontation but also reflected a serious lapse in judgment from those entrusted to represent the brand. In a rapidly gentrifying district where businesses must work to build trust and accountability with long-term residents, Velvet Taco’s approach here was not just disappointing—it was irresponsible. If you’re going to offer patio seating and operate in accordance with TABC guidelines, your staff should be trained in both the law and respectful engagement. I complied. The law was on my side. Yet I was still treated like a problem. Velvet Taco, do better.

Menu is very eccentric - all are various types of tacos! See attached for what we ordered! All was amazing!! Drinks (frozen blended!) too!!

We came here with a group to kick off a friend's birthday. I'm not a huge Margarita fan, but even less of a beer fan so I went with the Margarita. It was SO GOOD. Also had the Annatto shredded pork tacos. They have a kick, which I wasn't expecting but for someone who isn't a big fan of hot food, they were delicious and doable! Would totally go a here again for both!

If your tastebuds are elite, this is definitely the place for you. They have so many assorted sauces/degrees or heat, etc. for your tacos that you could stay there for hours to figure it out. We sat on the patio when there was a cool breeze, so the grandkids could make a mess....! Their queso is quite good.

We were in Austin celebrating a friend's birthday and all she wanted was tacos and red velvet cake- what are the odds that there happens to be a restaurant that does exactly that! The tacos were unique and delicious. The crowd favorite was the poke taco to mix things up. The cake was DELICIOUS and the perfect sharing size. We ended up getting a second round of tacos (and frozen blood orange margaritas) because it was just a fun spot and had so much to choose from!

We ate here because a friend suggested it. It's in the Domain and walkable if staying in that area. Parking garage near restaurant. It's alacarte style, you pick several different tacos you would like to try. Food was reasonable price. You can dine in or outside. Neat place!

I enjoyed my brief visit to the Velvet Taco. I wondered where the name came from until I saw the amazing looking very well presented Red Velvet cakes on the counter. What they have to do with tacos I have no idea, but if I wasn't gluten free I would have ordered two slices. Ahh the temptation. The taco I had was gluten free and a true delight, I nearly ate it whole. I'll go again and take hubby as I know he will love the place. Cool bathrooms and good alcohol selection as well.

Skeptical that they were prioritizing creativity over taste after reading menu but I was 100% wrong. Outstanding tacos Highly recommend.

The five stars are for this taco alone! We tried the Cuban pig -it was good but not special. Tikka chicken - unusual but again nothing to explode your taste buds. Then the angus brisket- SO good! We all wished we had passed on the cake everyone mentioned and just gotten more of those tacos.

I think you could order anything and be thrilled. Red curry coconut queso? Yep. Awesome. Tacos have such a unique blend of tastes you wouldn't think of messing them up with another sauce. Just awesome.

Great vibe, good prices, husband enjoyed the margaritas, and they have a large variety of tacos to choose from.

Soooo let me start with dessert! The Red Velvet cake is worth driving to Austin for! Oh and the tacos are really good too!

Amazing food!! They have every kind of taco you could think of and most of them are out of the box. The brisket taco is amazing. My friend got the Tikka Chicken taco and loved it. The elote cups are always a huge hit with anyone I go with.

Lines were long, but totally worth the wait! We tried fried paneer, hot tofu with brined pickles and ranch crema; also Tikka Chicken (crisp tenders, spicy tikka sauce, buttered cilantro basmati rice, raita crema, Thai basil). Amazing dinner!

So good! Place an order and give a few tacos a try! Large selection and they all sound good!! Take a seat inside or outside and they will call when it's ready. So delicious!! Best tacos I have ever had! I would go back weekly if I lived in Austin!

I was definitely sold by the descriptions of the tacos that are listed on the glass facing the street. I went in and ordered the rotisserie chicken, Cuban, and braised beef. Where these tacos failed to deliver was flavor. Such awesome ideas, but the flavors were very bland. The Cuban was probably the best of the bunch, but the ingredients were not distributed well throughout. In Austin, there are plenty of better taco choices out there.

The food is great. Call ahead and make sure they have the whole chicken if that is what you would like. They had run out when we went. 😓 All high tops. Loud. Take a jacket because of the maximum air and low temperature.

Best tacos I have ever had. Definitely recommend. So many different varieties to choose from. Quick and friendly service.

It was crowded. We ordered but were unsure what to do. They gave us the dessert but never got the food. It came highly recommended.. maybe try when it is not packed..

Had the weekly special ceviche taco and a fried cauliflower, both on a lettuce wrap instead of a tortilla, friends had a Cuban and one with Indian flavors, and it was a love fest all around. Nice size tacos and there were many other options I want to try as quick as I can get back here With 15% tip my two tacos and a water was under $12. This location is my first to visit and I’m in love!!!

I went here to try some tacos thinking tacos couldn’t really be messed up. I was wrong... the buffalo chicken taco was just not good, the brisket was okay but nothing to make me go back. And the queso was just wrong. I would not go back

First time eating at Velvet Taco. I must say i was surprised by the different selections there were for a taco. I had two Tikka Chicken tacos, and they were hot. But they had excellent flavor and freshly made. The sauces they put on them are incredible. For $4.25 per taco, you really can't beat that. I would pay more; well worth it. Inside and outside seating areas are very lively. We had fifteen people in our group; all loved their tacos. Would definitely go back again. Tips: - Review the menu before you go. Save time instead of thinking at the register. - If you are hungry, three tacos will be enough for you. (one is not sufficient) - They accept Samsung Pay - Parking garage is just down the street (RED Garage)

Stopped in for a quick lunch and chose the Ahi poke and Shredded pork tacos. There are several other choices that look amazing, so we will be returning in the near future.

Went to Velvet Taco in The Domain and tried a chicken taco and a pork taco. The pork was my favorite and it came on a purple tortilla. I also had a side of the corn which was VERY good.

I really enjoyed the tacos. We got shrimp and grits, chicken and waffle, the Korean Fried rice, the picnic and the rotisserie chicken. The picnic and the rotisserie chicken were good, but didn’t compare to the other three. They were so good!!!

Visiting Austin for the afternoon and enjoying a self-guided tour of this very walkable city, we happened upon Velvet Taco. This was our first taste of a famous Austin taco and it was simply amazing. Coming from the Northeast, the best tacos we get are of the fast food variety; so, it is difficult to find a point of comparison when visiting Austin (apparently the taco mecca). Even without something to compare, I can say that these were some of the best things we ate during our visit. There are many, many options and no one will be disappointed with the offerings - shrimp, chicken, beef, tofu, pork, etc - they have it all. We opted for a variety and got eight different tacos to share. Every one was filled with a generous portion of protein and toppings. Every one was delicious. The flavor combinations and freshness was amazing. We also shared a side of guacamole and chips which was equally delicious. Nice crisp chips with a large portion of excellent guac - great texture with just the right amount of heat. Add in the house margarita or sangria (or mix the two together in a frozen swirl) and you have a perfect meal.

Not your typical tacos. Had the tiki taco which was good. Order came up fast too which was good when your hungry late at night.

Stopped in after a night out on Rock Rose. Got the #1, #4 and #12. The food was fantastic. Jimmy, the kitchen manager, was running around making sure every customer was taken care of and left an impression with his positive energy. I'll definitely be coming back here.

I ordered (2) steak quesadillas to go through the website. The order pick up time was 12:28 pm. I arrived at 12:25 pm and waited until 12:57 pm for (2) steak quesadillas… after asking multiple times if my order was ready I was told it was “the next order” things continued like this multiple times until at 12:47 I heard the staff request the chef to cook the (2) steak quesadillas. The chef would ask the staff what the order was after 2 minutes multiple times and seemed like he was not able to understand a simple request of (2) quesadillas as he repeated back to the staff multiple times the incorrect order an the staff needed to keep correcting him. After finally getting my door about (30) minutes late. It is not even a quesadilla. There are 6 pieces of steak between 1 half of a crispy tortilla and the other half soggy with butter. There is no cheese an I cannot bring myself to even eat this. I understand being busy but this service was abysmal

Stopped by while just browsing shopping are. Visiting, so I wanted tacos and looked at Torchy'sm but saw 35 minute wait. Asked a clerk for good tacos that were close and she recommended Velvet Tacos. THANK YOU LAUREN from Coach store. Multiple options, and Cuban Pig and Slow Roasted Angus Brisket were both incredible. Fast good service. Great flavor. Miss the food truck vibe, but tacos were exceptional.

You wouldn't give it a chance, if you were looking for independent, back street Taco restaurants. And instead, this is phenomenal. I had the best tacos in a long while - maybe ever. Strongly recommended.

Good and inexpensive restaurant. Lovely food. Had Falafal lettuce wrap, Paneer and Tofu Tacos, Bufalo chicken Taco and Corn among five of us. Nice decor, beautiful location. Worth visiting.

The restaurant is located in a very nice area full of other restaurants. The food is good and the atmosphere is very nice. The beer was also very good.

I initially was planning to have Thai at Thai Kun in the new section of the Domain. They happen to be closed from3-5? So we went next door to have a taco. I ordered a #3 Spicy Tikka Chicken and a # 12 Slow roasted angus brisket. The #3 was ok, nothing special. The #12 was incredibly flavorful with the red chili mayo & avocado relish. Definetly a return to order item again. I encourage you to check it out.

We went here at 11 AM on a Sunday morning (as soon as they opened). There was no wait, and we were able to order right away. You order at the counter and pick it up at the counter when your name is called. We had a variety of tacos (Korean, Cuban, Tikka Chicken, Nashville Hot Chicken, and fried goat cheese tacos), and an order of blanco queso with blue chips, as well as a bottled soda and a fountain soda. The total was $46 bucks. ALL of the tacos were excellent! The presentation was nicely done as well. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Looking forward to going back soon with friends!

This is one of my favourite places to hand out in Domain after work. They have a very spacious seating arrangement and the tacos are heavenly.

A cheeseburger taco. Sounds interesting until you see its half a beef patty, pickles, onion and lettuce. BORING. The tacos are pricey for Austin standards. You need at least three for a meal. I was offended by the signs everywhere that said "This ain't your mama's house, clean up after yourself". My mama knows how to make tacos. My mama would never be that rude. My mama would be ashamed of charging such high prices and then being rude about it. There are too many wonderful tacos in Austin to settle for mediocre, expensive, un-original, tasteless, tacos. Don't go. Walk on by. Go to a food truck. I never go to Taco Bell but they are better.

Drove to Austin this past Sunday. And went to Velvet Taco read a review in Eater. This is a great place food is off the chain. good service, clean and is located at the Domain in Austin a place full o shops and restaurants.

The wifey and I were craving some good ole hunger soothing tacos. We decided on Velvet Tacos and we were not disappointed. We ordered the crispy tots with local egg, the #19 Bacon, egg frittata, along with some elote corn and two #12 slow roasted Angus brisket tacos. Everything we put in our mouth was delicious. The crispy tots were hot, crispy, covered in bacon, a lite creamy cheese sauce and an over-medium egg. So rich and delicious. A great appetizer. The Brisket tacos were our hands-down favorite from the group. Loved the cilantro and the brisket was tender with a bit of spice. And to wrap it all up is the flour tortilla with a grilled cheese crust! Heck yes!!!

Best tacos ever! Every part of the meal was well seasoned and made with care. The staff was also super caring. Lupe was amazing! Will find a reason to come back again, all the way from home.

Stopped in at 11:30am for lunch on a Saturday and found the place almost empty. Ordered immediately, woman behind the counter offered suggestions, food came out quickly and accurately. It was my first visit, and enjoyed a #12 brisket taco and a #16 fish n chips and enjoyed both. Self serve tea and soft drinks, clean rest rooms and outdoor patio seating in addition to an air conditioned inside. Summary: great food, clean facility, super friendly staff, will definitely be back. Nice work!!

Tacos were great and of different verity. Even for vegetarian like me they had four different options and they were filling.

The music selection really is amazing, the place is spacious and the prices are alright. The amount of vegetables and cheap toppings on the tacos are plain ridiculous, the protein on them should actually taste a little bit more.

We were meeting people for a late night hangout. So it was great to find a place to eat late at night in this location. The local scene is very vibrant and upbeat and the tacos were a great compliment to the atmosphere. Lots of interesting combinations for people with different dietary requirements at a good price. The tacos were comparatively bigger than most other street taco places so worth the extra money you pay for it. We had about 6 different varieties and all of them were extremely flavorful. Good service, too!

We went for the Red Velvet cake. It was soft and moist, with a big layer of vanilla icing. On request (I'm not sure if it normally comes with this) we got a nice drizzle of dulce de leche sauce on top of the cake. There was a slight wait in line to order, but we easily found a table. There is no sit down dining wait service; you order at the front and pick up your food when called.

It is a large restaurant du cuisine purely Mexican specializing in the preparation of Tacos with vases of meat, vegetables and vegetables, also great for those who are vegan. Food: the menu offers a good choice even if it is not very clear what you order, good raw material, very nice presentation, perhaps a little small portions. Drinks without limits. Location: large spaces both indoors and outdoors, both on tables and stools. Service: there is no service, you choose your order at the checkout, you pay and when it is ready you will be called to the microphone to go and collect your order Price: good but not low

This is not the place to find traditional tacos. However, the intense flavors and creative combinations served up at Velvet Taco are amazing. The Chimichurri Steak and the Quesa Birria Duo are incredible. Also, a good place to hit if you are in need of some late-night food. Located at The Domain shopping and entertainment complex. Open until 4am on Friday and Saturday night.

On my visit to Austin, I was brought here and the tacos may sound bizarre but are delicious! The sauces they provide are also a perfect add-on. The presentation of the tacos when your order is ready generates extreme hunger and once the aroma kicks in, you eat! The Chicken Tikka is one I would recommend for first-goers. Visit the domain and try this place before embarking elsewhere!

Amazing food, ordered the brisket nachos and they where ready right as I was getting ready to sit. Fairly busy line was to the door when I walked in.

Im a fan of Torchy Tacos. Been there a lot, but this place is just better. MUCH better. Selection was great. I had the indian and brisket style tacos. Even the presentation was good. They have taco trays your food comes in. I must say that I will also be back for the coconut water/lime. Its one of the selections for the drink. I love the corn appetizer. I also LOVE how short the wait is to get your tacos. Some of the Torchys places take up to 35 min. This place you will be eating in no time

We visited for lunch on a Wednesday and it was a nice visit but not great. Ordering is McDonalds style. Order in a line at a counter and then pick up your food when it's ready. I had the shredded pork at $4.25 and the flank steak at $5.25. The pork is okay but is basically some pork on top of cole slaw which I'm not a big fan of. The flank steak was good, but at $5.25 is a poor value compared to Tourcy's or Tacodeli's similar offering. If I'm in the Domain area again I'll simply order Tacodeli online nearby.

Great tacos! Came to Austin from Australia and dinner hit the spot! Would definitely go again. Have Eason selection for all meals

Their tacos are not only unexpected but incredibly tasty and priced to attract customers. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quick and special meal.

Fun, quick food with a good selection of tacos for a variety of tastes and dietary restrictions. For a "fast food" type place the tacos were nicely presented.

I fell in love with Velvet Taco while spending time in Austin. I love their shrimp and grits taco, buffalo chicken taco, and the rotisserie chicken taco. I learned that there was a location in Chicago where I currently live, and I frequent there often, now! It was walking distance from the hotel I stayed at - the Aloft - and they also had amazing RED VELVET CAKE! It's so good, but be careful, it's addictive!

This is definitely the place to go to wrap up a hard night in the Domain. Located in front of the main bars, expect to be in line, although they make the food quite fast, and there’s always somewhere to sit. The taco selection is super, being my preferred probably “fish and chips” and the “Cuban pig”. Keep in mind that they mix quite a bit of different ingredients in the taco, so the taste is always surprising. 2 tacos per adult is enough, although the really hungry should go with 3.

The by far the worst nachos I have ever had. terrible taste. expensive. I did not have tacos but nachos. I do not recommend them at all. Brisket was good but the rest NO

It’s in the Domain so it’s not going to be cheap. Food was good though. Creative tacos so worth trying at least once.

Great stop on a hot afternoon! Refreshing drinks and wonderful food. Lots to choose from on their menu!

Excellent selection of unique tacos at pretty good prices considering the quality of food you get. Fresh ingredients and you can taste each flavor of topping consistently along with the overall blend of all of the ingredients. Not your run of the mill fast food taco and not like Mexican food but something all on its own. Our first visit made us go back a 2nd time while traveling.

The tacos were AMAZING! I tried the chicken and waffles, Korea fried rice, and the picnic chicken tacos. All of them were exceptionally good! We may go back for a second visit before we leave!

Just had lunch here and will be back to try more tacos. Fun atmosphere, with lots of seating inside and outside. It was busy for lunch and food came out fast. It was good, with a very creative menu. The queso didn't have enough curry in there to even notice, but quest was good. I really liked the curry sauce on the fish & chips taco. Red velvet cake is a large serving so definitely share it with the table. Definitely worth a visit.

For those of us who live in Texas, Mexican and TexMex foods are regular ways of life and most every person I know eats these types of food at least once per week, often more. There are so many different places serving this type of food that a restaurant has to find ways to distinguish itself from the competition. One establishment that has done exactly that is Velvet Taco, located in the Austin Domain. I visited the Austin area for my kid’s birthday and we gave her the option of choosing where to eat. Her first choice wasn’t possible because they didn’t allow kids after a certain hour. But then, she looked down the street and noticed Velvet Taco. The entire family loves Mexican and TexMex so we knew this restaurant was bound to satisfy. Like I stated above, restaurants that serve this type of food are so commonplace that they each need to find some way to stand out in the crowd. Velvet Taco manages to do exactly that through its creative tacos. Options like Spicy Tikka Chicken, Nashville Hot Tofu, Annatto Shredded Pork, Slow Roasted Angus Brisket, and Cuban Pig are among the many tasty and creative taco options. These are not your ordinary tacos- they include such added toppings as pineapple, cilantro, grain mustard, avocado relish, and other extras for a tasty treat that will make you forget you ever visited an average taco establishment. With ordering at Velvet Taco, you place your order at the counter and then wait to be served. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and I like how they deliver the tacos to your table in a metal separator, ready to grab and eat. This helps keep everything separate and makes for a cool photo op, but I should point out that the tacos are not labeled for easy reference. You will have to look at the toppings and figure out which one belongs to which person in your dining party. We had this issue when I was there and ended up just grabbing and eating whatever our hands touched first. TexMex and Mexican food is a regular part of our daily diet here in the Lone Star State. Velvet Taco is a good choice for those who love this type of food and it easily sets itself apart from the competition with its lineup of creative tacos and other foods. It’s a cool place for lunch, brunch, or dinner, right here in Austin’s Domain.

The food is great. We had some tacos, my favorite was tied between the 3.5 and the flank steak one. The queso is good. The service is not. I'm giving 4 stars and not less because the food was so good, but I wouldn't come back because of the service. The kid at the cashier acted like he didn't want to be there, and we were all bothering/inconveniencing him by coming in. I had to ask him to repeat himself several times because he would looking in another direction while talking to us. So bad!

This was my second visit to a Velvet Taco location and I’m obsessed. The crisp tot & local egg side dish is so good; I can’t even describe it - just get it. The elote is pretty special as well. This time I had the #21 barbacoa brisket/egg frittata taco but I love the regular brisket taco as well. Their corn tortillas are fresh and tasty, not dry & weirdly chewy like many other taco joints. Choose a taco with an encrusted flour tortilla for a tasty surprise. I’ll be back to Velvet Taco as often as possible!

First visit to Velvet Taco had us wanting to come back for more. The brisket taco is to die for, and worth any amount of waiting time. The restaurant is nice and spacious with plenty of room to move around especially for people with disabilities and the restrooms are well maintained, even during busy hours.

Really great, tacos. Was here with family and friends. The ambiance is really nice, they have indoor and outdoor seating. Loved it and food was awesome!

We loved the vegan tacos here -- creative and delicious! And we arrived late night so it was extra great to find someplace open that had delicious food!

this spot has great tacos and lovely service. This taco spot is a hidden gem! The tortillas are fresh, the meats are flavorful, and the salsas pack the perfect punch. Whether you go for classic al pastor, tender carnitas, or spicy birria, every bite is a hit. The portions are generous, and the ingredients taste high-quality. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, perfect for a quick bite or a late-night craving. Service is friendly and fast, making the experience even better. If you’re a taco lover, this place is a must-visit. The only downside? You’ll want to order everything on the menu! Highly recommended.

These aren't you're typical tacos. They are very good though. You're in the Domain so you will pay "Domain prices", but not too bad. Two tacos will run you about $10 give or take depending on which tacos you buy.

Stopped in here for happy hour and grabbed some tacos and margaritas. What a treat! Lots of unique flavors, food was fresh and delicious! Will definitely be back!

Stopped here for lunch on my last day and was impressed. It was a bit crowded so we got them to go. They were surprisingly good. I will be back to try more.

You can review my previous reviews as they are 5/5 for this place. Still love the food, but now you are serving coke products. Thanks but no thanks! Coke did virtually nothing for voter suppression in their home state. I will not drink that... plus now I will have to decide if its really worth it to visit your place

Very good location. Service is great too. I think the food can be a little bit more flavorful. I like their Queso. Tacos seem to be a fusion of Indian, Thai, Mediterranean, Mexican, American and may be more. The flavors are very subtle. I wish the flavors are a bit stronger. The late hours of the restaurant are very handy. Better alternative to IHOP :-).

Visited here when my brother was in town, which we also did a couple years ago when meeting up in Fort Worth. We both agreed we loved the flavor profiles of the tacos much more at the Austin location. This is odd, since I looked at my Fort Worth review and I ordered one of the same tacos both times. We couldn’t remember liking it so much in Fort Worth. I had the annatto taco and falafel taco. He had a curry shrimp, and my son had the fish n chips tacos. My son (picky teenager) used the word “amazing,” which says a lot. We will be back! He also loved the red velvet cake, which looked super moist.

We had Velvet Taco 3 times on our 2.5 day trip to Austin and all the tacos were excellent!! They are creative, fun and absolutely delicious. Also, I really loved the Ranch Water! I need this restaurant in my life. Please come to Phoenix!!

Took a few local customers there last month. I was blown away by the various types of great tacos that were available. I binged on the Spicy tikka chicken tacos until I could eat no more. Can't wait to go back when I'm next in town. There are many business lunch type places nearby but I will pass them all on my way to Velvet Taco.

I was in Austin for 4 days and, of course, ate plenty of tacos. The ones I had from their midtown location were incredible. The fried shrimp with hot chili sauce taco was as good as I’ve had anywhere. Also, the Sangria/Margarita swirl was delicious and potent. You have to eat there on your next trip.

Stopped in late night after being out awhile. Had the spicy Nashville tacos. Very flavorful and spicy. Manager on duty was great. We talked for a while and figured out we are both from Houston and they have a location here. If in the area its worth a try.

Never had this kind of tacos before. One of the best I ever had plus we don’t have anything like this in our country. My favorite taco was tika chicken masala.

Best spot for casual tacos and drinks! They had so many unique taco options, with separate menus for chicken, beef, vegetarian, pork, etc. Each taco is sold separately, so you can try many different kinds!

Affordable tacos at reasonable prices. The portions are rather small, so plan on having two or three if you don't want to walk away hungry.

Lots of unique taco flavors, plenty of "fusion" options. Overall tacos were good, but a little overpriced. Margaritas and red curry coconut queso were amazing. Fast service too.

This place intrigued us because of their menu which sounded interesting. Unfortunately, the tacos are not as great - they read better than they taste if you know what I mean. But they definitely get points for the international twist & great vibe. We tried the picnic chicken tacos & finished off with the slice of their red velvet cake. This place is perfect for after bar-hopping late night hunger! They are open till early morning. Do give it try at least once.

First off, I'm a taco freak so there's that. Second they have the best soul food tacos ever and a few healthy ones. My favorites are the Chicken Tikka and Fish and chips (pictured). I only eat fish and chicken. But the others look amazing as well! Definitely my favorite place on rock rose in the domain. Great patio to eat and chill too.

Fantastic food here, and they make it easy to see the entire menu with the ingredients for each selection. Service though is terrible. Over 20 minutes for two simple tacos! The music is so loud that you can barely order, let alone have a conversation. Clearly the target market is the under-25 crowd with nothing else to do. Not worth the time given so many great taco choices.

Staying at the Archer in the North Domain area on a Sunday night and everything was closed after 9:00. Velvet Taco was a savior. Really good tacos, incredible street corn and pretty damn good margaritas. Very reasonable and worth a return visit for lunch, dinner or late night. I now understand why it is always busy.

This is one of our favorite places at the Domain. Usually a fairly short wait, great outdoor seating. The tacos are great and the margaritas are FABULOUS! Highly recommend.

A Very tasty snack. I had the Cuban my friend had a fish and chip taco . Their taco selection is very creative and things I had not seen before . The margarita was excellent as well

Good tacos. Not too big of menu but the ones I had were yummy. Husband liked his choices as well. Tacos were a generous portion.

I have had a difficult time deterring myself from trying any new tacos here because their raw tuna poke taco is that fantastic. I strongly recommend it-I even had 3. Excited to go back.

I had lunch here with my wife recently, she works in the Domain and we met here for a weekday lunch date. She really likes Velvet Taco (she gives it 4.5 out of 5 circles), and recommended we meet there for lunch. It wasn't very crowded, but the first thing I noted was the minimalist seating. There is a lot of outdoor seating, but it was chilly and drizzly so we wanted to sit inside. They have a fair amount of bar-type seating, and a few family style seating tables inside. It took about 15 minutes for the tacos to arrive (we ordered 4 between us), not sure if the wait time goes up if it's crowded. My wife loves the Nashville hot tofu tacos, I tried a brunch taco (steak and eggs), it was good but was missing some seasoning or hot sauce to kick up the flavor. I also tried a shrimp and grits taco, again I thought it was under-seasoned and missed a chance to be a really good taco. I have many friends (including my wife) who swear by Velvet Taco, but I came away from my visit thinking their tacos are decent, but could be so much better.

A fun meeting place for a great lunch. The queso and chips were fabulous! Curry flavors with pickled onion! Tasty... the tacos were fabulous. I had the falafel - flavorful falafel and excellent tahini! The burger and shrimp and grits were also a favorite. Make sure to save room for the red velvet cake! Yes, it was that good!!!! One piece is enough for at least two people. I highly encourage a visit and menu exploration!

You must try! Our fav taco place and consistent comparing to Houston location. One of the best guacs. incredible Paneer and shrimp tacos. They also have this great Mexican corn/chowder type side. nom nom. Perfect taco serving holders, tons of seating, tater tots and fast service.

Came for a quick bite to eat after playing at Top Golf and was rather impressed with the selection of tacos. I had the Nashville hot tofu with the hot sauce on the side (allergies to tomato which is in the hot sauce). It was so tasty even without the sauce I went back for a second! The service was quick and fun. Our table had an order of 8 tacos and they came in a fun tray with taco slots. They also had an eclectic variety of beverages to chose from.

The pictures and descriptions are amazing. The flavors don’t quite live up. A bit basic as you can’t really taste all the elements. Enjoyed the red curry queso and blue corn tortilla chips. Overall a bit of expensive and not really worth it.

Expect a wait here however the line moves relatively quickly... it is order and pick up so no table service. Overall the location is trendy nestled in the heart of the domain area however, it is a bit loud to carry on a normal conversation sometimes maybe a bit strained. The fish tacos are great however the brisket Taco is something that you just can't miss.

My hotel concierge at The Domaine suggested this place to me, and I was not disappointed at all. Very good street tacos offered plus additional yummy side dishes and a good red velvet cake for dessert. Try a variety of 2-3 tacos (chicken, beef, pork, fish) plus the elote corn side dish which is one of their most popular items. So yummy.

I treated my Dad to a 65th birthday brunch here and it was excellent! We had the chicken and waffle taco, kobe burger taco, chicken tikka taco and pulled pork brisket taco, along with coconut curry queso, a shiner beer and mimosa. All were amazing! Affordable prices too. Super friendly staff and they gave my Dad a free slice of Red Velvet cake! Thank you so much for a great meal and dessert! Thank you for being open for dine-in with plenty of indoor and outdoor options. Highly recommend and will return soon!

We tried 4 different tacos, all were amazing. The frozen margarita was also a good decision. The cashier was a little rude but that could also be because we struggled to decide what to order.
Delicious tacos
If you want something quick and delicious to eat, a visit to Velvet Tacos is a great decision. Unique but familiar flavours, and a buffalo chicken that will blow your socks off. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor space, and you can hear the orders being called from outside as well so no need to worry that you'll miss your food.
