Cozy little cocktails bar.

What a cozy and romantic gem in the arts district. Cocktails are fun and sophisticated. Service is spot on! Do yourself a favor and stop for drinks if your are in then neighborhood.

A refined shabby chic dive bar.

By yoyomousa |

It’s a bit unfair to call this place a dive bar however it does make most of the criteria for one. But! It has chic elements, like comfortable couches and great cocktails. Craft Beer drinkers will not be disappointed, with the selection. A quiet place before 9 PM, a younger crowd later with a high energy vibe at the weekend. We have pre dinner cocktails here before eating at Esther’s across the road. Knowledgeable bar staff we’ll versed in all the cocktails we have asked for. My wife believes they have the 2nd best Cosmopolitan in Vegas.

Great Reprieve from the Strip

By Tama&Bingo |

Excellent cocktails and a funky atmosphere make this a must visit when you're ready to grow up and get away from the strip.

Fun Mixology!

By Erikjoot |

Great seasonal bartender-inspired menu! Small but quality craft beer selection. A new local hangout! If you're in the area give it a try!

Whisky Bar!

By TravelLeigh10 |

Velveteen Rabbit is a low key, casual bar with a wide variety of cocktails and the bar tenders know a tremendous amount about what flavor profiles mix well with what. On "First Fridays" they have a menu of specialty cocktails that the bartenders have created. If it's not super busy, you can ask the bar tender to make you something special. Tell him/her what you like, they'll ask you some questions to narrow in and they'll come up with something special. We were there on a Friday night. It gets busy after 9pm and there's a DJ. The don't serve food but the bar is on a lively street with multiple restaurants.

What a Gem!!

By AngelMoralespr |

Amazing local spot right on main street downtown. Very cozy and friendly atmosphere with a chic touch. If you like to have a good night and also dance around is the place to come, you can hang out with tons of cirque du soleil performers that love this spot as well and battle them on the dance floor. Amazing variety of drinks, cocktails, beers and the bartenders are top notch. They are truly professionals and most likely can create anything for you.( lots of tasty options, so try those first) On first Friday's they normally have a food truck outside their location, which i don't know if they own or are friends, but the food is out of the world as well, easy options, but very tasty. If you are around this are definitely should be in your to do list.

Back at my favorite watering hole

By Genetix71 |

If you want real and non pretentious people as bar tenders, who actually seem to like their job and the customers than this is your place to go. It’s a bit far if you stay at the strip, but visit the art district while you are there. Love it

Cool little bar

By Stephanie S |

Stooped in because the name was cool. The drunks were great. The bartender was awesome and the atmosphere was Cool!

Back by Popular Demand

By Garrett L |

We visited here on a Sunday night because the trivia was back by popular demand according to their facebook page. We were one of only 2 teams there but the competition was still tough We lost. Drinks were delicious! Happy hour well drinks are a great deal and their custom-made drinks were snazzy. The vibe is hip and laid-back. They have couches and mason jar chandeliers. Overall we really liked it but it would have been more fun if more people were there (which there probably would be on another night).

Go NOW, Awesome place and great drinks

By Cheers2life |

Why oh WHY.... did we wait so many years to hit this place???? Once you walk in there is a "hostess stand" they ask if you have a reservation. We didn't, but got to sit bar top (which we usually do). Place has a very awesome feel, dark, mishmash chairs/tables with a somewhat Gothic /eclectic vibe. Service was AMAZING and the drinks where even better. On the pricier side $18 a drink.. but that's Vegas going rate. Seriously.. GO NOW!! At least once, this place is AMAZING.

Gem!

By Amy B |

Lovely little bar with talented, creative bartenders. They even made a lovely strawberry mocktail. If you want to escape from Vegas, this is the place to go!

Not a restaurant - no food

Don't forget to pay for street parking FYI. Vintage couches, soft lighting. We love it here its very relaxed. Excellently prepared drinks with quality products.

Maybe my newest most favorite cocktail bar (and good beer too) in Vegas

By SJM-Weasel |

OK -- Vegas is FULL of bars. We all know that right? But where do the local service industry people go when they want a drink? Well, by all accounts it appears to be this place! I went there after a few local friends said they go there, and I can see why. It's very very unassuming from the outside (understatement maybe) -- but walk in and the whole vibe changes. Maybe a bit "hipster" (?) to some -- but hell, I'm old enough to be some of their father's and I felt right at home -- so what the heck. It has lots of comfy sofas and chairs, a beautiful long wooden bar and some high tops and I think booths in the back. It's semi-dark with interesting art hanging on the walls. But you didn't come here for that -- you come here for the drinks! The mixologists can probably make ANYTHING -- but for sure try one or two of the seasonal drinks! I honestly have never ever seen such a creative drink menu! I tried two of them (The Wizard cuz I felt Harry Potterish) and the "Mule On Rouge" because of the pun! I won't go into details except both drinks had some eclectic ingredients (lime rhubarb bitters in one and nonino in the other, and I have no idea what "nonino" even is!) but the drinks were terrific. They also have a decent beer selection (12) on tap - -from a wide variety of well known famous microbrews (not a Coors Light or PBR in sight!) YAY! Also the prices were pretty darn reasonable for the quality - about $10 per drink and $7 per pint of beer. Compared to the Strip it's a steal -- to downtown -- it's a bit more $$$ but a lot more flavor! If you want a real locals place -- and amazing drinks -- come here!

Super Cool Spot!

By Anthony R |

I love the ambiance and the venue! The mixologist are good people! Located on the new and updated Main Street just south of Charleston Blvd. It is a cool spot that does get packed around 11p. DJ plays modern music and there is an outdoor area as well. The drink menu is extensive and they have a printed seasonal booklet that I picked as well! No cover charge and era hope it stays that way as it gains popularity. I saw age ranges from 20s-40s. The drink prices are $$ so you won’t break your pockets/wallets/purses if you want a nice night out!

Private Party was a blast

By beth m |

We went to a private event here and had a blast. The employees went above and beyond to accomodate us. It was off the beaten path, but definately was funWill definately go back the next time we visit Vegas

Local Gem of bars!

By Jen S |

Love love love this place. From the older style music, to the victorian couches and chairs, to the hipster bartenders custom making every drink. If you have the money to spend (think 10 bucks minimum per drink), this place is worth it. Drink menu changes all the time, so you can always try something different and delicious. Also if you don't like your drink the bartenders are happy to replace it or change it for you. I couldn't believe that! Atmosphere is on point, great for hanging out with friends, relaxing, or going on a date. The inside is usually quiet A local must if you are in the downtown area. Great for starting or finishing your night. I love this place and have gone many times! Will be back once I move back to Vegas.

Quirky Cocktail bar in Arts District w/top-notch cocktails

By Sarah-Ryan1 |

I normally don't love dark spaces/bars, but this place has such a creative vibe with the oversized red "throne" chairs & couches & just the whole set-up. The outside picnic area with heaters is also fun, didn't even recognize that space until walking to the back. The whole bar somehow smelled amazing/spicy incense without being overwhelming. Super friendly bartenders, very attentive even when busy. You won't be ignored (our experience at other "fancy" bars) & not stuffy at all. Just straightforward & friendly. I have to laugh at reviews referring to this as a "dive bar"--that, it is not. It is a little on the hipster side but whatever, it's charming. Drinks are pricey, but on par with prices elsewhere in the area. Cocktails are delicious, some of the best in town that I've tried. Very impressed! We don't go out to bars often, but we'll come back here again.

Vibes

By See_Chris_jetset |

Great local spot for unique crafted cocktails. The vibe is very loungey, low-lighting, areas with sofas and tables... There is also a back patio. The music was OK on the night we went - that was our only area where they might improve. Otherwise, a great night out in downtown Vegas!

Interesting place

By Juplife71 |

This place is cool & has a eclectic vibe. Vintage couches & chairs, unique artwork, & unusual drink menu. We tried several drink all different , but I don't "recommend Worlds in a small room" this drink tastes like a coffin if a coffin had a taste! Yuck! Bartenders were cool & exchanged the drink without out an issue. I also loved the "brainless raspberry beer".

Quite a nice location...

By John L |

....for a craft cocktail. Impressive selection of tap beer. Our bartender for the night was Derek (hope I spelled it correctly) who was a blast to speak with. Will return with no hesitation next time we're in town.

Most amazing atmosphere, furnishings, lighting and bar staff

By tenspeed21 |

The cocktails are made with great care. Four of us each had a different one, and they were all divine.

Step back in time

By McWett |

This like taking a trip back in time to the golden age of real bars with real bartenders. We came to see a play, "The Cat's Meow" set on William Randolph Hearst's boat. Since the Velveteen Rabbit is very intimate with a long bar and comfortable chairs and love seats along one wall the play was done up close and personal. You felt that you were a part of it as the actors were a few feet and sometimes inches away. The bar itself is warm and cozy. The bartenders can make most any drink including those that were popular in the twenties and thirties. They also have a range of beers on tap as well as wine. You can tell that they care about their patrons as they make sure you are comfortable and have what you need to have an enjoyable time. This was our first time and we will be back.

Outstanding cocktails

By RiceWP |

It is always refreshing to find a bar that knows it's classic cocktails without having to look up the recipe on the Internet. This is that kind of place. My wife had found a list of bars that bartenders go to in Vegas so we decided to give this a try. We were glad we did. We tried one of their specialty cocktails and it was a little heavy but very tasty. The rest of the evening we enjoyed classic cocktails and they were made to perfection. We would recommend this bar to anyone who loves a good drink.

Square Ice Infusions

By christina_onthe_road |

Thank goodness this place didn't reek of hipter trendy, or I never would have gone. It's tasteful, sophisticated and yet very local. I found this place down to earth, and the people quite polite and helpful. Just watch the bartenders, who clearly know their drinks, or find yourself sucking down one of the many craft beers on that night's beer list. This place has a delightful patio, for actually talking to your friends, and we found a decent dj on Saturday night. The best part, though, were the carefully constructed cocktails. The infusions are truly unique, and you won't ever get the same taste twice, because of the subtlety of the product. Go, relax, enjoy.

Fantastic New Downtown LV Bar

By thedlr |

Now this is what a downtown LV bar should be. Nothing pretentious. Nothing spectacular. Just comfortable seating. Friendly and knowledgable bar staff. Excellent craft beer selection on draft. Granted, our visit on a Sunday night during Memorial Day weekend may have been unusual. We were previously down on Fremont East and the area wasn't busy at all. But I enjoyed having an available parking space seconds away from the entrance. I liked not having to show ID to a door person. I even appreciated the fact that they have no servers roaming the seating areas. To order a drink, you go to the bar and they bring it out to you. The only thing that disappointed me is that (I think) there used to be some awesome street art on the side wall of the building. I can understand the removal, but it's still a shame. I could be wrong. Perhaps the street art is on another similarly looking building and is alive and well.

Fun, quirky bar

By jeremydbrooks |

This is a fun, quirky little place that, I believe, is run by sisters. Hipster-ish vibe, which means lots of beards, man-buns, flannel, and a boutique menu of expensive, complicated drinks. But you can just order a beer or a basic well drink and be just as happy.

Cocktails expertly made and not that far off the beaten track.

By darrencG3274NL |

A friendly cocktail bar with a slightly retro New Orleans feel to it, chatty staff and good selection of craft beer. One of the regular customers offered me a sip of Japanese whiskey "Ichiro Malt Chichibu" it's the best I've ever tasted. They have it. You want it. It's only $25. You'll never want to drink any other whisky again! I regret not getting a chance to return here, but then the rodeo had just rolled in to town!

Fun!

By Genetix71 |

Now finally that's a fun little place to be, far away from the typical Vegas pretentiousness. The cocktails were great, the prices reasonable, the atmosphere perfect, Music was actually Music (The Smiths, The Cure, The Clash, etc) and the bartenders actually seemed to love their job! Best place in Vegas!

Fancy. Trendy. Hipster.

By Atomic_City |

Fancy inventive cocktails with a pricetag to match. Pretty decor. Owned and ran by sisters. Free parking on the side.

Such a fun night

By Wadingmoose |

Great cocktails served by bartenders who know their stuff. After a couple of cocktails, we left ourselves in the bartender's capable hands and let him pick a drink for us. We were not disappointed. It was a fun night out with friends and may become a must stop for our trips to Vegas.

Posh cocktails in a unique setting

By dtlvtbl |

I like to bring out of town friends to this place for a posh cocktail before or after a meal downtown. This is not a place to sit and drink all night I would say, but excellent for a special occasion. I enjoy the moody atmosphere and decor.

Artisanal cocktails

By Marc A |

If your looking for cocktails that will set the standard for adult beverages... Don't miss this locals favorite spot! You will never be the same!

Freestyle cockails

By Nick S |

A little out the way but a great venue. Good for live music if you want that but on our night there was no music on but we had a great time. Engaging friendly team behind the bar and, although there is a very comprehensive drinks menu, the team will create a drink for you based on what you like. Prices very good and worth a detour from either the Strip or Old Town. You can get 4 cocktails for the price of 1.5 compared to prices on the Strip.

Very, very cool

By Greg P |

It is a bit off the strip, but it is an experience. The cocktails were excellent and the place is awesome. It is dark and very unique. From the outside, it looks like a shack. Drinks were about $17 a piece, but carefully curated. We had an expresso martinis (made with Tequila) and the town - a mezcal drink. I was super impressed well worth the trip to the Arts district.

Cool place off the beaten path

By 409Stephanie |

This bar was a cool place off of the beaten path. The drinks were delicious and the decor was unique! We had a great time when we stopped here.

Very cool place

By true443 |

First time here and I loved it. Very cool vibe. The dj was excellent. Drinks were great. Prices were reasonable. This place reminded me of NYC. Very artsy. Will definitely be visiting again.

Really cool cocktail bar in the Arts District

By Kerri B |

Really cool cocktail bar, popular with the locals in the Arts District. Great menu of unique cocktails and relaxed, safe vibe. Would definitely visit again.

mixed drinks

By Brunohits |

Great local spot in downtown Las Vegas.... Came here with a couple of friends and the bartender made my wife her custom mixed drink... she told her what kind of drink she wanted and the girl mixed her some tasty alcohol... will come back.

Out of the way adventure...

By teehee30 |

Great drinks, friendly locals...it is a little difficult to find and the area is a little dicey but worth the trip! Would recommend a visit if you want away from the strip and to experience/meet some people that live in Vegas.

Like hanging in Peter Max's living room

By simiseeu |

Talk about atmosphere!! This darkened saloon, just on the outskirts of the Arts District, is pure retro, circa 1967 Haight-Ashbury. What a relaxing, yet fun environment. Vintage sofas and chairs line the opposite side of this narrow bar. Lots of Peter Max-like pictures on the wall. Another wall contains a projection of white moving images, really cool. And of course the drinks......very creative. I had the Faircrest Drive, which contains peach liquor, scotch, grand poppy and celery mist (where the heck do you find celery mist?). It was a small yet potent concoction. The Mrs selected Amorous Congress, made with apricot jam bourbon, dry vermouth, amaro canella, and an absinthe rinse. Not quite as strong as mine, but still packed a punch and very tasty to boot. We arrived late at night, about a half hour before closing, which is at 2am. It's funny, out of the dozen or so patrons still hanging around, it looked like we were the only ones over 30. But hey, that's what life is all about. Mis it up! We were told a DJ spins some music on the weekend, so that would be worth a return visit in and of itself. If you're in the area, stop by and enjoy a well made drink and soak in the eclectic atmosphere.

You must come here for drinks

By Tim W |

The Velveteen is the place to go for custom-made crafted cocktails. They're not pretentious like most mixology bars and the prices are nice too. The staff will help you find a great drink if you tell them what you like and you'll love the results. My wife always finds a new favorite here; me, I like to stick with the classics, but Velveteen always adds a twist which kicks my drink up a notch.

Not a bad bar, but off the beaten path

By mmgohoos |

The Velveteen Rabit is a small, quaint establishment tucked in to main street in what would be an unrecognizable building. It's located several minutes north of the Stratosphere, a ways away from the strip. As for the part of town, as a visitor, I was glad to be in a group.

Quirky, downtown Arts District 18b cocktail bar

By LeFemmemetale |

I love this place. They have a drink menu that changes seasonally and are very unusual, however you can also just get a scotch on the rocks if you so please. It's located next to a few other amazing places within walking distance, so one is able to check out a variety of things. The ambiance is dark and mysterious; it has kind of a weird soundtrack, but huge, awesome art pieces and unique backlighting. No dress code, but I do feel under dressed in flip flops, and overdressed in fancy well-matched dress and accessories. This is oe of the places I stop in with my hubby on date night.

Mary is a gem!

By Brewermidwife |

I had a fantastic experience here from beginning to end. The indoor space is funky, cozy, and comfortable. However, the star of the show was my bartender, Mary. She was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. We chatted about craft cocktails and unique spirits. I started my evening off with the punch of the day, which was excellent. Next, Mary curated a cocktail for me based on the number of characteristics and my favorite spirit… It was absolutely amazing. I didn’t think she could follow it up with anything as great, but she made me a curated Mocktail that was every bit as good as any “real” cocktail I’ve had. Mary, thanks for making my last night in Vegas enjoyable. The Velveteen Rabbit is lucky to have you on board.

Very cool, eclectic place.

By more4les2018 |

I’d seen this on Vegas’s best bars off strip the last couple of trips so we finally made it over there. It’s a small place downtown. First, let me say the bartenders are extremely nice and informative about their cocktails. These guys and gals put a lot of effort into the preparation of their drinks. I doubt if there is anything they can’t make and a bunch I’d never even heard of before. The beer selection is a bit limited but does cover a variety of taste preferences. They had live music the night we went that was really good. Mainly, my rating is for the bartenders, the excellent reasonably priced drinks and the cool vibe.

Great Cocktail bar in the Arts District

By robbiefitz |

Stopped in for a few drinks after dinner. Very cool atmosphere and decor. The bartender was great and the drinks were fantastic.

Great cocktails in no-frills setting

By mschmidt31 |

The bartenders make great seasonal cocktails without high prices. The look is pretty no-frills: exposed conduit, etc Very easy to get to from either downtown or the Strip.

Cider on tap!!!

By TML1995 |

Located in the art district of downtown Las Vegas is a hidden gem called the Velveteen Rabbit. From the outside its easy for you to miss it. Simply marked with a neon sign high above the door you can walk right on by. Once in side you are greeted by skilled bartenders and a artsy bar. Great cocktails are available that can be drank at the bar, at the cute sitting areas or out on the back patio. Lots of upcycled lighting fixtures and furniture. What made me the happiest is hard cider on tap. There are so far 3 to choose from Ace ciders. Yum!!

Creativity is Their Name

By AngelMoralespr |

Velveteen rabbit is my favorite bar in town and downtown and every town, starting with the amazing selection of beers on tap, lots of them different that anywhere else, also regular beer for the more conservative people and when it comes to drink and creating drinks, well just forget about it, the bartenders here from my opinion are alchemist, masters, magicians, etc, etc. they have an extensive knowledge and can make anything you like and ask, but I would recommend trying some of their drinks of the menu, I know you won't regret and you never try anything like that before. If you go on a first Friday, that means the first Friday of the month (🙄) they usually have one of the best food trucks in town, truknyaki , they served some amazing Japanese burritos, with fried rice and veggies and meat that are to die for, is the perfect combination for an amazing cocktail or beer, if is not first Friday, well the truck is not there, but the bar is still the best in town, go check it out.

Great Cocktails and Fun Vibe!

By Lea K |

I visited in November the night before Thanksgiving - we had excellent service and great cocktails. It was a great place to go and disappear from the craziness of the strip. Highly recommend.

Great place in arts district

By jeff b |

Been here a couple of times now and both times had great service. Bartender CJ makes a great Thai tea infused gin drink highly recommend trying it.

Creative, Eclectic vibe.

By Kate F |

The interior is sweet; well appointed sitting area perfect for hipster insta snaps. The drinks are delicious, and inventive. The zine/menu was my most favorite part! For $1, you can purchase the menu to support the arts. A great addition to dtlv.

Excellent hidden gem

By Cameron T |

I was looking for places away from the typical Vegas experience and found this place. It is an amazing little cocktail bar with an discrete store front that seemed fairly unknown. It was a slow Sunday night and we were there for a pub quiz so I am not sure how busy it gets. The bartenders were both very friendly and I cannot express enough how good the cocktails were. The Wooden Nickel is honestly the best cocktail I have ever had. The atmosphere of the place is unique and the walls are covered in psychedelic artwork. I will return next time I am in Vegaz

Relaxed vibe; Top notch cocktails

By katravler |

You can dress up or down - no one cares. This place is laid back and super cool for a drink. It’s downtown LV so get a Lyft or Uber. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor is darker and has bar area and comfortable couches / chairs. Definitely will return and refer others.

Best cocktail ever

By SPage54 |

What a great cocktail bar in a very cool part of Las Vegas, the Arts District! Went out of my way to have a cocktail there and it is so worth it. I had a “midnight” cocktail, superb! I will return!
