Stopped into Venice Ale House for lunch while on the Boardwalk. We were quickly sat, offered menus, and drink options. I ordered the vegan sandwhich with tofu and tempeh. The food was delicious and the space offered great people watching. I will be back next time I go to Venice!

While out for a walk along the Venice boardwalk we stopped in for a cold beer and a rest. The servers were friendly and the choice of craft beer was good. All together and enjoyable stop along the Venice boardwalk

Great customer service, fast delivery of meals. Nice ambiance however beware those with kids, bar tunes had explicit lyrics, (believe outdoor seating did not have same music). Margaritas were citrusy and non sweet (how I like them!) , ordinary salmon (overcooked, lacking flavour) but veggies and poke bowl were fantastic! Indoor and outdoor seating, shaded or sunny and partial views of the beach. First time at VB, but appears to be one of the better dining options. Beer sampler in a skateboard looked awesome!

We visited Venice Ale House with friends from the area while on our honeymoon trip down the California coast. The staff were very friendly and chatty. The food was really good. The beer was even better, especially when the flights are served in skateboards! We had a great evening and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Went here for lunch when I was at Venice Beach. Suggest arriving early. Patio fills up fast. There's a limit to the time you can spend on the patio- essentially you have to keep ordering food if you want to stay. This place has limited follow up from the servers after the food comes. Do not expect glasses to be refilled with water or additional water decanters to be brought to the table. You will have to flag down the servers if you want additional beers. This seemed like one of the busiest places on Venice beach- it's fun but hectic.

I was laid over in LA so I made to check out Venice Beach. Unfortunately it was cold and rainy, so it was nearly deserted. The bright spot of my afternoon was this place. The burger was great and so was every beer I tasted. Be sure to order a “skate” (flight) of some local brews. The house IPA is pleasantly snappy and pairs well with said burger, which is available in lamb, beef, and veggie.

As my wife has driven me to drink and our visit to California has been beset with argument after argument i thought i'd drown my sorrows in the only place i know, a public house catering to the esoteric drinker! The Mrs went swimming in the hotel pool and practically flirting with everyone so i was free to spend the afternoon drowning my sorrows. This establishment is amazingly comfortable and the offerings they have on display are wide and i was spoilt for choice. I started on the low end of the alcoholic spectrum but as i went to the higher strength premium beers (which were nicely priced) i found myself chatting to the locals about my decayed life and stalled career. They seemed to have strained smiles but the atmosphere was pleasant enough. Californians are amazingly nice people and way easy to talk to. The bar staff were incredibly attentive and helpful with the choice on offer. As you would expect, Venice Beach is eccentric and filled with tanned people everywhere looking cool. The View from the bar was amazing and watching the sunset was especially mesmerising. Highly recommend this place.

Absolutely recommended. This is a gem amid the squalor of the boardwalk. The food was fresh, delicious and reasonably priced with a million dollar view. Too bad about the neighbors.

All organic and super tasty. Really good food, we would recommend this place at any time. Large portions, fresh food and friendly staff! We tried 8 different dishes and all were good!

We stopped here on our way up the coast after the Rams/Packer game. It was a lovely night and we sat outside and enjoyed the people watching A light parade on bikes went by at one point which was fun to watch. The food and beverages were very good. I would recommend if in the area again. Staff was amazing accommodating our party of 14. We were happy to split up to make it easy for them and they worked to get us close together. Parking can be an issue, but traffic is too, so it goes hand in hand.

We stopped in for a snack and drinks. It was quite busy and got a table out on the patio by the open window/wall. It took a while for our server to get to us. We ordered a spicy margarita, a stout beer (they only had one available as they were out of the others) and a cosmo. Snacks were guacamole for a crowd, crab cakes and a lamb burger. The guac came with fresh chips; the crab cakes were made with quinoa and there were two large ones on a bed of greens with a garlic and chili aioli. The lamb burger was cooked to medium rare as requested and was very juicy and served with roasted red potatoes and greens. Food and drinks were all excellent. The only downfall was that tables are really close together and makes it hard to move around. Definately recommend. (Christa)

My partner liked it but I didn't like the dish (nachos) at all. The club sandwiches finally looked nicer…. On the other hand, I only give 2/5 because of the systematic 20% tips when adding (we pay by ordering at the counter! No one comes to take our order). I find it abusive

Food not eatable Drinks - „home made ginger ale“ consists of a bottle fever tree tonic and way to much ginger in it. Price to high for this quality! NO service but automatic charge of graduity to the bill!!

We were walking down the beach in Venice and decided to have a quick lunch. This place was listed as being in the top 1% of Los Angeles restaurants on trip advisor. We were curious as to why a pub on Venice beach would have such a high rating so we decided to stop. At first, the short menu and simple terrasse made us a bit wary but after ordering beer and lunch, my wife and I were both very happily surprised. My wife ordered the “sesame crusted ahi tuna”, which is a tuna sandwich. When it arrived, you could clearly see that the tuna was fresh and the salad on the plate looked fresh and delicious. This was confirmed by my wed who said that her meal was delicious. The avocados, tomatoes, chipotle and arugula gave the tuna a good combination of flavors which made it simply delicious. Not being very hungry, I decided to just order some crab cakes. Wow, they were a really good surprise: i was not hungry so I did not care and I just expected a small plate of little dried up things to dunk in a sauce somehow. What I actually got were two very large crab cakes made with quinoa on top of a fresh salad with avocados and two mayonnaise’s (one chipotle and one garlic aioli) which were both very delicious and married themselves with the crab cakes perfectly. Coupled with a selection of craft beers, we had a wonderful relaxed atmosphere on their terrasse directly on the beach walkway. Recommended when you want to chill out on Venice beach! Enjoy!

We showed up without reservation, and were told to come back in 20mins. Twenty minutes later we went back just to find out that they had given our table away, as we were not there. Make sure to stand right in front of the host waiting for your table, or you'll lose it (they don't give you a pager). Outdoor tables are a mix of communal tables (very difficult to get in and out if you are sitting close to the street) or tables for 2/4 people. Seats are available inside, however it's very noisy with loud music. I ordered a burger, the waiter didn't ask how I wanted it so I forgot to specify. The burger came very raw, so I sent it back to have it cooked longer. Burgers are priced at $14 + toppings, so in the end you are looking at $17-18 for a burger with fries and salad. The restaurant is very low key, like all places along the boardwalk. It's good enough for a quick lunch without expectations.

Nice little restaurant close to the beach in Venice. Brews are great, tried the shrimp tacos who were just outstanding. Not to forget the permanent show on the streets.

This little stop on the boardwalk is a great place for happy hour or lunch. Great people watching located right of the heart of the boardwalk. Long taplist with a good beer selection and great food options for pub type fare. Really enjoyed.

It was hard for me to enjoy my meal because the place was so loud. The music was loud and the people yelling around us were too loud. We sat outside but it was enclosed. My husband thought his beer was okay and we both ordered burgers. Our orders arrived but had to be sent back as they were messed up. My burger was a little bland so I was disappointed as I really like that they serve grass fed meat. The potatoes were really good. We saw someone getting beer tastes on a skateboard and that looked cool but we probably won't go back unless it's daylight, sunny and not as busy so that we can enjoy sitting outside.

My son and I went out to LA for a college visit and had some time so we checked out the beach and the Venice Ale House. We got there late morning and I had heard that they make an awesome cup of coffee. But it was not to be as they didn't have any coffee that day. Earl Grey is no match for a finely brewed cup a Joe. Anyway no problem. I did order their wonderful Mediterranean omelet. It was very fresh with spinach and avocado. It came with lovely bacon and perfect breakfast potatoes. I would eat here again and order this omelet! Steps for the beach and right on the boardwalk you can't go wrong with the Venice Ale House!

This place is very conveniently located on the Venice Beach walk, great place to soak in the atmosphere and just watch the people. Nice to sit there and enjoy the food and observing the area. If on the other hand you come in, just for drinks, then you are more of a second class citizen, even when the place is almost empty.

The seating was very confusing, we were told we could only sit on the patio if we were eating so sat inside at the bar, we then decided to grab an appetizer and asked if we could move outside but they said it was no longer possible. It is a shame as if we were sitting on the patio we probably would have ordered more drinks and stayed longer, after all we travelled all the way to the US and wanted to be in the sunshine. That said, inside was fun and the bartender was great - we asked for a flight and it arrived on a skateboard which left us with big grins. Fantastic selection of beer and would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

My wife and I stopped in for a cool one on a hot summer afternoon. The place was busy but the staff was very friendly. The place does not brew its own beer but had plenty of craft beers on tap to choose from. We did not eat but the food looked and smelled terrific. This is defintely a stop to be repeated.

Great tasting, healthy food is a rarity in the U.S., but this place had it in spades. Service was brilliant and beers were good.

If you happen to be walking on the boardwalk and you seem to need a beer, dont doubt it. Lots of food options. Great beer. The terrace has a great view

Had dinner here two nights during our stay. Great variety of boutique beers. Good variety on menu with plenty of vegetarian options available. The wait staff very friendly and helpful. Food was fresh and tasty, but nothing special. Outdoor and indoor seating.

The service was awesome at this place. We were originally going to have lunch here, but there wasn't a lot to our taste, so we ended up just getting a couple of beers. The guy let us try a few beers before we made a decision which was awesome. The only reason why i have rated "average" was because we could find anything we wanted to eat on the menu, otherwise I would have rated higher.

Our family have had dinner at beautiful sunset time and have Nacho and Chille and a glass of napa wine.Hall stuff's had a passion and a hospitality for the guest service and the dishes were amazing nice and reasonable price.

We stopped to have a few beers with friends here on a Sunday afternoon. The bar area was very crowded (there's also seating outside if you are ordering food there) but we were served drinks quickly. We were a little in the way until a spot at the bar opened up but it was a lively environment and great location right at Venice Beach. They had a wide range of beer and food selections as well.

Good food, nice selection and brunch is available late, I believe until 2 pm! Good beer selection. Beautiful location and outdoor seating. Not the largest establishment but they make it work. However the only bathroom I found was a one stall that created a bit of a line and complaining people.

As my girlfriend and I sauntered down the Venice Beach boardwalk in early May I expected some crazy interesting characters but I didn’t expect the exquisite eating experience we had at the Venice Ale House. My girlfriend and I spent a couple of hours walking up and down the boardwalk and when we started getting hungry around lunch time we thought we would have to settle for something, let’s say, less than healthy. Boy, were we surprised when we happened into the Venice Ale House right on the boardwalk and saw their sign that indicated organic food. She had the veggie burger and I had the free-range chicken sandwich, both with red roasted potatoes. Both were excellent. If you’re in the area I highly recommend the place, especially if eating healthy is important to you.

The location is great and enjoyed my beers when the server would come by. Hard to believe that would be a problem when sitting right outside the door into the establishment. When you were able to flag her down and order a beer, it was 10 - 15 minutes before it showed up. To me that is not good service. My friends and I wanted to eat dinner however were afraid if we placed an order for food, it might arrive the next day. Can't recommend this place.

We were staying at a hotel just off the beach near Rose Avenue. In that immediate area, there’s 4 or 5 places to eat. I would describe this place as sort of casual but nice. There is a great selection of micro brews and a decent wine selection, though not a ton of spirit selections. We were there for dinner and sat outside under the awning. Service was friendly and we didn’t wait too long for the food. We order wings and a chopped salad – both of which were very good. There’s a municipal parking lot across the boardwalk right on the beach. Parking was $5 and it stayed open until midnight – absolutely your best bet to find parking in that area.

Great burgers, beer, music and vibe. Easy going and attentive staff. At the end of Rose and beginning of the ocean... not a bad location!

Had a great experience here! Had good reviews on TripAdvisor so decided to try it. Service & food was wonderful. The beer selection was great and meal portions large. I couldn't eat all mine. Good selections on menu for vegans & vegetarians. Nice atmosphere. Will go again!

We visited Venice Ale House on a recent visit to L.A. After a walk on the beach, we took our spot outside right along the walk way. The service was friendly and fast, and the menu was typical pub food, but good never the less. One of our members has a true issue with gluten, and they had several selections to choose from. I would come here again, it was a great place to take a rest and have a beer, while enjoying all that comes with Venice beach.

Arrived on Saturday afternoon, expecting a wait, but didn’t realize the names on the list didn’t get seated in order! We were told it was up to a 45 minute wait for a table, but then watched “friends” of the two women working the front get constantly seated in front of us. When questioned, both feigned ignorance of this fact, and never apologized for their blatant error and favoritism. Just to be clear, “friends” arrived after us, without reservations (putting their names on the list too), but not once, not twice, but three times were seated before us and others. Management should be ashamed of their front end staff!

Food was ok but expensive. Not good enough value for money. But the service was very poor. Without my personal assistance my family could eat with fingers. Not recommend.

This has always been a great spot to hit while at Venice Beach. The food is good enough and drinks are fine.. but seriously, there is no longer wait staff and you have to order at the counter and there is a mandatory 20% gratuity. Ok, I get it but then don’t flip that screen around and ask me to tip you on top of the already required fee. Be careful when you check out or you will be paying 40%.

I guess people will respond that this is the American way, but it's absolutely disgusting to see the seperation of wealth while trying to enjoy your meal. On the one hand these people are filthy and make for such an unsanitary eating environment, flip side how can a country so wealthy treat it's people like this. Either way, the "ambiance" is not worth it. Head to a different beach in town. Or a different country.

Perfect spot right on the Boardwalk. Great outdoor seating as well as tall tables and some bar areas inside. Music is loud and there's always a decent crowd inside. Came here with a friend for a drink and dinner to catch up. Weekdays on the Venice boardwalk can be a crapshoot since you never know if a place will close early. We were there at 9pm and two other places we'd tried had already closed. Luckily for us, Venice Ale House was still serving. Got the grilled salmon over roast veggies, and it hit the spot. Healthy enough but still very tasty. Good portions so I was not hungry at all. Friend got the tacos. Prices are a bit high, but it's the boardwalk! They also have awesome beer-kombucha and beer-lemonade drinks that I would highly recommend. Great if you want something a little lighter with your meal.

All things seemed to meet and align perfectly at The Venice Ale House - music, artists, surfers, skaters, laughter, etc. etc. during an epic sunset and the only thing that broke my draw was the smell of the food and the beer pint glass glow here at The Venice Ale house. The food and drink exceeded my expectations, the prices are well worth it, and the service was phenomenal. Our server (Jessy) was not only so accommodating and sweetly so, she was extremely welcoming. A1 spot.

We stopped here for dinner while staying in the area. This place is busy! There are very small indoor and outdoor seating areas facing right out on to Venice beach. The food is very tasty and great value. We decided to share a portion of chilli and nachos and it was more than enough for both of us! This was a great stop for a meal out on Venice beach, I would come back here again!

We got right in and were seated on the patio. The service was good and the food was incredible. They have a great selection of beer and their cocktails are delicious. There is great people watching if you sit outside and a great view of the beach, ocean and sunset. We will definitely be going back!

After a long walk around Santa Monica and the Venice Boardwalk we stopped by the Venice Ale House for lunch. And wow, I had the Crab Cake Sandwich. Please, if your ever near this restaurant, stop and have this food. It is absolutely spectacular...

There isn't a better positioned patio in all of Venice. You might have to wait to get sat, but once you do, order a drink and get comfortable. Food and beer selection is quality and the people watching is equally enjoyable. Chips and guacamole are a fan favorite way to start. There are also plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. So come hungry and wear some sunscreen, you won't want to leave.

The regulars don’t support the 20% mandatory tip. This is ridiculous. I tip all the time. It should be that The tips for the day should be split to all workers. We should be able to decide to tip or not. I’m not coming here any more and I’ve warned my friends and family.

Venice Ale House is a great eatery right on Venice Beach Walkway. Very reasonably priced and looks like a local favorite. Also being an ale house they have a good selection of local drafts. Very loud though between the live music on the walk and the music from the restaurant it was a little comical at times!!! The food was excellent!!! Burgers and nachos delicious!!!

Stopped to eat here with my mom while walking at Venice Beach. So many great options on the menu, we had a really hard time deciding what to order. We got the poke bowl and an order of guacamole and salsa. Delicious! Every bite was amazing! Everything we saw on other people's plates was delicious too. Very reasonably priced and a nice vibe overall.

Great location and excellent beer selection. I had breakfast here and it was okay, but nothing to write home about.

We arrived later at LAX and was looking for a quick but good dinner option. Our hotel recommended the Ale House and we both enjoyed nicely prepared salads (she had the beet salad and I had the shaved fennel / parmesan salad) and a nice selection of beer. Went back by during the next day and it was packed.

Little queue, good service, nice people, good food and draft beer. Special mention to the Tuna Melt.

Visit of this pub-beach restaurant was thqt better what is offers You all Venice Beach... Staffs were very fine, friendly without any problems.... maybe we were waiting little more for service, but there was too much people so it was OK. But what is very bad are toilets...

Fantastic that's all there is to say the service was spot on , the weather the food and the beer is great to If your in LA go there Loved it

We stumbled across this on a trek back across the beach after a day in the sun . What a lovely find, the food was delicious , the waitress service extremely attentive and there was a very good selection of house wines and real ales . Best of all they were able to provide gluten free bread options ...... something that has been difficult to access during the holiday ...the only downside was a $2 additional charge for the privilege..All in all however a good find on a hot day & definitely worth a visit .

Great Mac and cheese.....a huge potion size full.pf flavour! Gutted the corn appetizer was off! Lovel drinks friendly staff and amazing beach location. only downer is that it's a major hassle for strollers. maybe dedicate one table space that accommodates this nicely? Would recommend as a bite for lunch

My wife and I tried to get a table at this place on a busy afternoon. We approached the two young women at the podium and put our name on the list. We were told the wait could be around 45 minutes. We sat on a bench next to the hostess station and watched people walk up and get put on the list. Two friends (yes, it was more than obvious) of the hostesses arrived and asked how long the wait would be for two people. They were told to come back in about 15 minutes. I then questioned one of the women about the wait time and got the run around.... - things like "It's impossible to tell exactly how long it will take" and so on. Ok, so I sat back down. Sure enough, their friends returned shortly and were seated. We watched this happen with other friends a few minutes later. Favoritism? Yes! My wife wrote a Trip Advisor review stating what I have just written. The manager responded to her review stating that it was a misunderstanding.... that it was a table for four that became available before our table for two. We witnessed exactly what happened (three times!) The first group of friends consisted of only two people. Same with the following two instances. I let the hostesses know what we had witnessed and found a different restaurant nearby. It's unfortunate that management referred to the incident as simply a misunderstanding. There would be no reason for me to make something like this up.

My family enjoyed a great lunch at the Venice Ale House during our trip to Venice Beach. The service was friendly and quick, and the food was delicious! The only thing I would improve would be spacing out the tables a bit - our chairs and those of the group behind us literally banged each other the whole time, and we were all sitting as far in as possible, but it's a prime location for eating, so I get the need to squeeze as many folks in a possible!

We were for a lunch there and we were positively surprised from the burgers. Also we had a nice skater beer. All in all, perfect place for food on the beach.

Great place with seaview. Stopped with the family to grap a bite and a beer and where really amazed by the great food, good beer tap selection and the friendly staff … we recommend to go and have some relaxed time

We turned up 8ish for dinner and drinks. We were seated straight away but it was pretty cool outside. But when a table came about inside our hostess was really accommodating. The guacamole serve was not as big as other places but the salad serves were HUGE and between 2 girls we couldn’t get through it. Great selection of beers. Perfect for a day after the beach.

Awesome beer spot just on the beach, lovely selection of beers, great food , friendly relaxed atmosphere, great place to relax and have a nice cold one and people watch. I would visit here again and recommend it to friends and family

The menu is loaded with organic local choices. Nice breakfast menu as well. Had the beef burger with bacon and cheese. It was easily one of the better burgers I’ve had in a while. Great selection of draft beers. Service is a little slow, but maybe it’s just laid-back in that West Coast style.

Right along the boardwalk and can sit on patio and people watch while enjoying good beverages and food. Fresh and healthy food choices. Very nice menu. Good craft beer selections. Serve their paddles of samples on a skateboard. Pretty cool.

Friendly people and good food which we had to order at the bar. This was no problemen. There was a DJ playing nice music. This was a bit loud and hindered a normal conversation on the outside terras.

Ceveche appetizer was just okay. It wasn't very tender. The beer was great. We had a tuna melt and the vegan chopped salad and they were both very good. It's a busy place and the servers were doing their best to keep up. The menu had a lot of good options and I would definitely go back to try something else. The outside tables are super close together which wasn't ideal for conversation but also not the worst.

The owner is so sweet, the bartenders are THE BESTTT. I go here every time I go to Venice, the drinks are amazing and the breakfast, lunch and dinner is just as good ! Shoutout to Thomas, dave and robbi !! Everyone is So sweet and beautiful view of the beach of course + right next to the best parking !

Me and my boyfriend went there on Monday. I had Mediterranean salad and I ordered chicken on the side which was yummy . My boyfriend had burger and loved it. Very polite waitress and prices were okay.

Fantastic food and location, but many spots have a patio as nice as theirs in Venice -- patio is cramped and small really. But food was unqualified excellent. The nachos won the day of all the items we ordered. Saw them repeatedly turn patrons away who wanted to sit outside but would not order "full meals" and frankly that is a bit of a put off.

Very nice place, trendy atmosphere, fast service, excellent dishes, friendly waiters..A place to stop by for a drink or to eat..

Stopped here for lunch and a couple of beers as we strolled along Venice beach. Great menu and all the food that came out looked delicious - it tasted great too. Good location right on Venice beach - good for people watching.

We visited twice during our trip, once for lunch and once for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. We sat outside for lunch and it was a great place to soak up all the atmosphere of Venice Beach. For dinner we sat in the covered outside area. We tried lots - bruschetta, their great baked potatoes and a couple of types of burgers. Everything was delicious and a step up from any other bar type food we had in Santa Monica. Great beers and staff too. It would be perfect if they had more restrooms as there was always a queue.

Typical Venice beach resto's aren't worth your time for the price and quality of food but Venice Ale House is the exception! Food is all organic, never frozen and delicious. Highly recommend the organic beef burger and the jalapeños add the perfect punch!

The Ale House has a nice selection of beers. We had burgers which was a deluxe/café style burger, which everyone agreed was very nice. Prices are reasonable for what you get. I will visit again if I get the opportunity.

Included in our ordered - tuna melt, mac and cheese and mediterranean omelet, everyone enjoyed their food. Drinks were good but the homemade ginger ale was excellent. The restaurant is at the edge of the boardwalk and it is worth the walk up. Our server was busy but took care of us.

We stopped Sunday afternoon for a quick bite after walking the beach. The bar area was crazy crowded, but we were able to find a table outside. The tables are extremely close to each other. Service wasn't the quickest, but like I said it was crazy crowded. Drinks were ordered, but for coke/pepsi, the only have an "organic cola". We decided to stick with water. I ordered a burger, nothing to rave about.

Located right off the boardwalk this place was busy. The beer selection was great. Traditional beer “flights” are replaced by “skates”. The beer samples come out on a skateboard! It was an unexpected surprise. Had the seared tuna sandwich for dinner. It was delicious. Check this place out if you are in the area.

One of the joys of the Ale House, apart from the 20+ beers on tap, is just sitting over a leisurely lunch, with a beer or two, and watching southern California at play. Whenever we are in Santa Monica, we take time to walk down the beach to Venice, sit outside, order some lunch and a beer and just let the world, and its partners/dogs/ cats/ children go by - we recommend this activity to all the readers of this review. Food is simple but good, service is charming and the beer gets better and better! Pay a visit, you will like it!

Having been before we knew what to expect. It's a place with a large list of craft beer and a great food menu to cater for anyone and everything. We had a few pints and listened to a familiar set of music tracks that kept the atmosphere really friendly. Your in Venice Beach so don't expect it to be cheap but in all honesty it's not bad value.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The worst experience I've ever had at any place. The "pretty" girl who wouldn't give me her name is probably the worst female I've met in my entire life. She needs to get fired and get help. Will never look at this place in my life again. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is probably the only place to get a decent drink and feed on the boardwalk at Venice Beach. They have a really nice selection of local craft beers and good organic meals. It's a great place to watch the happenings of the Boardwalk and I would recommend it as the only place directly on the Boardwalk to have a drink and a casual meal.

Sit back and relax and watch the world go by. Good selection of beers, great food (try the nachos) and friendly staff.

We hadn’t planned a lunch spot when we visited Venice so popped in here. Staff were very friendly and a great range of meals. All cooked well and very tasty.

This place never gets old, they have great food, they are friendly and it's a fabulous place to take in the sights and sounds of Venice. You will find good quality food, locally sourced where possible and plenty of options for all types of diets. Great choice in Venice, we have been coming here since 2007...and it's consistently great!

For all the hustle and bustle on Venice this is a great place to pit stop. Beer choice is great and Cali only. I had the Venice pale but spoilt for choice.

I probably walked by this place a hundred times, but never tried it. A friend suggested it. What a revelation! Amazing food and I had a cocktail with jalapeños and cucumbers that was yum yum yum. Service could have been better, but I think it was a newbie waitress. I yelped about it, and the manager responded perfectly. If you're on Ocean Front, this place gets my highest recommendation.

Came here on a quick, laid back trip for Hubby's birthday. We loved it. The burger was good, the roasted potatoes were AMAZING!! I had sangria, and I was impressed. My husband loved his beer. Location is ideal, its a great stopping point in between Venice beach and Santa Monica pier.

Busy place serving a good choice of beers and organic food. Seating outside and a few tables inside. The service is slow but the food is worth it! You totally taste the difference from the other places. Perfect for people staying at the Venice suites.

We dropped in here for a couple of drinks. They have a large selection on local beers. The prices were descent. We didn’t try the food. If you want outside seating you need to order food. However we had a nice seat by the window and was able to see the sunset.

This is on the main boardwalk area of Venice Beach... It has a small amount of indoor and outdoor seating and is a really busy place. there is live music as well so a nice little place to stop and have an ale. They do food here which did look good but we didn't eat there today.

Pretty solid find there is a lot of places to try out in Venice but this place had it all, really good food, drinks and atmosphere.

Venice Ale House offered a great range of ales at a very reasonable price (for Los Angeles anyway). This place is comparable beer wise to a good English pub. It’s well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I saw this place while walking on the beach and just thought about coming to have a beer. I was amazed by the great selections of beer. The bartender was amazing, Dave our server too and even the busboy was very polite. But the hostess... she looked as if she was in a bad mood, I asked about 3 questions all she did was say she didn't know and didn't try to get the answer, never brought us water. Didn't offer the menu... This place deserves a 5 and the food was amazing. But the negative impression I had of the hostess really spoilt some of the amazing vibe of the Ale House. I visited on the evening on Sept 5.

We dropped into the Venice Ale House for a bevvy after walking along the promenade. We were a bit taken aback to learn that the barmaid had automatically added a 20% gratuity without any reference to us. We thought it was a bit high handed. As a result, we decided against ordering anything else and left after finishing our drinks.

I went there Sunday for lunch. The service was great and the food was good. However, there were only about 12 people in the restaurant and the noise level was extremely loud. I hope management see this review and hopefully will add sound deadeners to reduce the noise level

We were here in Dec and only got beer as we like to try different beer. They had a good selection of beer. We got the 8 oz 8 flights each. The beer was given pretty cool as it was in a skateboard. If by the pier, I would recommend at least one beer here.

We tried looking for a diner - fest and far between on Venice Beach. Came across this place-deliciozo! Had fresh food, breakfast you with fruit and granola, salad, with a beautiful mix of leaves The beers are really good - tastes that make you talk about them rather than just guzzling. Service was top notch.

They have great salmon, nachos, and drinks. Pretty much everything is so delicious here the chefs are great at what they do. The staff is really cool and nice but the sunset views behind the Santa Monica pier are iconic! I love this place.

During our most recent visit to Venice we had lunch at the Venice Ale House and were pleasantly surprised! Typically, beach side restaurants serve mediocre food at a high price, but the food at the Venice Ale House was high quality, fresh, and delicious. The portion size was large for all the available options and the pricing was moderate. The burgers and sandwiches all come with salad and “Unfried” potatoes, so I would recommend skipping an appetizer unless you have a big appetite. The views and laid back atmosphere create a perfect casual dining experience.

Great place right on the boardwalk Lots of different beers and great food. There’s seating inside or on the patio with a view of the surf, sand and people. It gets a little crowded, but that’s because the food and beer is great!

Tiny hopping bar and restaurant right on the boardwalk. Amazing burgers with rosemary potatoes. Tons of beer choices. Definitely recommend.

Service by people who clearly love their beer and enjoy working with and serving people who do. This place has the quirky nature and individual personality the is the heart of craft beer. The beer selection was for every palate from pilsner to stout (served on a skateboard if you want an untraditional paddle). Food was also very good rounding this off as a great venue well worth the visit.

Enjoyed the vegetable tacos here so much along with the Tangerine beer. I was thrilled that they had small pour options so I could try a couple of local beers. The sun set right over that water, which just made everything perfect! Staff was wonderful, look forward to coming back!

The location may be very key at Venice Ale House, with great views of the beach. But the waiting staff are atrocious. We were there around noon for several drinks, but this was cut short to one round after a waitress spilled part of my pint into my bag which was beside the table. Without offering an apology she quickly proceeded to get the bill for us without even asking if we were staying for another round and/or drinks.

Our server was very rude and condescending. She had no time, patience or customer care. This stung far too much when we were told there was a mandatory 20% service charge as we were a party of 5 (3 of them children). No doubt hidden in small print. Our server did not warrant this and the food did not outweigh obnoxious server.

We had a nice evening with our family of 6 at the Venice Ale House. Quite cool location. Not exactly the most efficient waiters but always friendly. Food was very good, beer was okay. I wonder why no American brewery can or will brew a Hefeweizen in the German style... the don‘t call it Hefeweizen but wheat beer. But we will come back

Stopped in for lunch. Great choice. Right by Venice boardwalk. The Ahi Tuna is tops here. Large portions and very good with the toasted sesame Seeds crusted on it. The potatoes and curry were great. Vegetables so fresh. Such a nice lunch. Felt it was very quality for the price.

We happened on Venice Ale House because it was near our car, and we were starved. I'm really glad we did. My daughter and I eat a special diet, and the menu was large enough that we were able to find food to suit our needs, as well as the others in our group. I'd go back if I were in the area.

So on a very hot day walked from Santa Monica to Venice and came across this place - even though before 12.00 the place (indoors and outdoors) was packed it had a great vibe and decent range of drinks at reasonable prices - beer was nicely cold and decent wine selections. Right on the promenade so ocean views too All good

I had the house vegan burger. It was absolutely amazing! Great beer selection and nice staff. Would definitely come back again.

We went in for a late lunch and a drink not knowing what to expect. The inside seating area is small. But most people were happy to be outside even though it was cold and windy. Plus the people watching is awesome. Chalkboard and brick interior walls were very stylish and it was a very nice atmosphere. The service, food and drinks were all excellent. I ordered the grilled cheese on sourdough with tomato and avocado. It was the BEST grilled cheese I have ever had in my life!!!! And a wonderful organic red blend wine was the perfect accompaniment. Highly recommend!!!!

The breading of the crab cake sandwich tasted like corn chips. I didn't like it. My husband had a steak salad and he said he liked it.

We just had a great meal with a fantastic tuna sandwiches and a a couple of nice ales. Great that they serve 1/2 pints so you can try Several of their great assortment. A bit slow service some time.

Great location. Sitting on Venice beach strip. Food was very good, and so was the service. They have great artisan beer. This is a busy corner, and you will get an eye full with the local « intertainement »…it is a very lively area, with lots of characters. If you enjoy a lively area with great food, this is your spot!

You can’t eat good fish tacos with a yummy bear and right on the Venice boardwalk (sort of). Great location and good good. The action up this far north of the main boardwalk is lame and tame. Ha. Will continue to visit for sure.

First night in LA wondering round Venice beach I come across this place that pulled me in, staff were really friendly and place has a cool vibe, I ordered shrimp tacos which were really nice and very filling. Menu was really varied top marks

Stopped in here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Our server Isaac was fantastic so attentive and friendly. Food was delicious we ordered the chicken quesadilla which was very filling and the bleu cheese beef burger which was cooked well. Great spot to sit while watching the sunset. Will recommend to everyone to stop in here for a bite to eat

With some excellent menu choices and a huge selection of craft beers, this is an ideal spot to watch the word go by while having lunch or dinner!! And the staff are courteous & helpful. Highly Recommended

So, strolling along like the typical tourists, we came across this place and decided to get some shade a bit of lunch. The service was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed the Cobb salad. Our kids enjoyed the burgers too. I'd definitely recommend this place.

Very cool “hot spot”, you can see a lot of locals here, a great sign, getting a reservation is pretty hard, took us forever to get a table, especially outdoors. However, I usually have dinner here every time I come to California, its very enjoyable, the drinks are amazing, the food is amazing, and its “cool”. The corn on the Cob "a la Mexicana" is great.

Had a good lunch here, extensive menu choices. A couple of beer options not available. Not a great selection for kids. Host was so rude all the tables were talking about her. Took 10 mins to get drinks inside when we were waiting for a table. Recommended but service can be improved.

Me, my wife and 2 kids (11 & 12) stopped in here for lunch while taking in Venice Boardwalk while on vacation. It was a little pricey but well worth the money. The food was top notch, service was great, beer selection great and the organic, fresh lemonade was the best I’ve ever had. Great views of the beach and the boardwalk as well

stopped for lunch whilst out and about along Venice Beach. Indoor and outdoors seating, attentive service, great choice of ales and good choice of food; good burgers and veggie club sandwich...would recommend if you want to eat practically on the beach.

Went here for drinks before heading over for The Conners show. Dive bar, but with very good beer selection. Lots of Cali weirdos. Friendly staff. No where to park except in a city parking lot across street at $19.00 a day, no hour parking.

Total rip off. Ridiculously overpriced. Clip joint for non-locals. 20 % surcharge not properly disclosed. No service. Sticky tables. The burger was decent, but I say run away.

Ate here 3 times during our stay over New Year. Good choice of beer reasonably priced, basic selection of wine, but good enough for me. The food is delicious, especially recommend the Atlantic Salmon with garlic mash, yum yum.... Oh and the omelettes are good too . Lovely friendly waitresses, thanks for taking the time to chat to us..... Barman efficient and professional. Loved the attmosphere inside and the sunshine outside. Delicious fresh food, good beer, cold wine and sunshine, what more could anyone ask for.

If you have the patience to wait for a table, your efforts will get rewarded nicely! You can make your wait more enjoyable by trying a beer or two at the bar, they have an awesome selection of local beers. The food is, surprisingly for the area, extremely good, many organic selections, fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. The service is wonderful, friendly and prompt. The only complain, it is a little crowded, they do not have a lot of room for the number of people.

This place has a cool vibe and happy staff. The meals are great and there is a selection of local craft beers. No soda and gluten free choices if required. On the down side they added a 20% gratituity and then asked for a tip.

Love this place. Right in the heart of the Venice boardwalk. Long Ale list that offers just about everything one would want. Good service and friendly crowd. Parking just across the boardwalk.

This is a pretty regular bar in many aspects; food is good bar fare and they offer up a nice selection of beers and cocktails. I had a few drinks and a tuna melt - a great, tasty lunch meal. Definitely one of the better choices along the boardwalk.

Ate dinner at Venice Ale House with my mom and two boys. The menu had something for everyone. The food was fresh, organic, delicious and the staff was so very nice!! Great people, Great food and a people watching fantastic location!!

We had lunch here when staying in the Venice beach area. The hamburger was one of the best I've had in the last 10 years. Truly excellent and good value. The beer was also up to standard. The service was good and very friendly. I'd recommend this place for lunch to anybody visiting the area.

Plenty of beers offered on tap. Each that ai had was beautiful. Went for the Cali Cheese Steak sandwich and it was delightful. Great bar, great food, great beer. Which all led to a great afternoon!!

We ordered a skate of beers, which included different beers of our choice served on a skateboard. It was a fun idea and a nice way to try different beers. This is placed right by Venice beach to the view is nice with the ocean, beach and all of the people walking by. I liked that the sitting area outside wasn't completely opened and had walls with big windows, keeping a bit of the wind out but still let you enjoy the view. The food was good and the service was good. Accept for the person who placed us in line for the table. She felt very nonchalant and when we got back after 20 min like she said, it felt like she forgot us and gave our spot to people that just arrived so we had to wait for like 15 more minutes.

Venice is an exciting spot there are lots of shops and street performers. Parking is the biggest headache. There is Beach lot parking for $18, if you can get in there. Various other lots can be as much as $40... we utilized the parking lot at Rose and Main across the street from The CVS. 15 for the day and your two blocks from the water and boardwalk. Venice Ale house had a wait but the food looked so good. Patio dining allows you to be shaded and take in all The sites food was healthy and gourmet. Vegans and Gluten Free folks can also get a meal. The beer selection was great

Expected more from an Ale House! Beer was flat, staff were generally unfriendly. Good location for people watching on the boardwalk.

Every time I visit Venice's Boardwalk, I have to make a stop at Venice Ale House. Huge selection of handcrafted beer and very affordable wines. But it's the food that I love. Mainly organic and doesn't matter what I ever ordered it tasted superb. My strong recommendation for any visitor to Venice, if you don't mind to wait a little longer on weekends and sometimes unwanted entertainment from local "residents" of Venice Boardwalk.

Dinner on a remarkably beautiful day with the Cool Manayunk Chick and one of our adult children... Over all, the establishment did a fairly good job. Beer were cold and we dined next to the beach. Portions were generous as well as being presented well. Of all three meals, I had the salmon, CMC the cob salad and youngest, wings. It is not however, your typical pub grub. Nor will you find yourself disappointed. The food, while a bit out there, the quality and care is obvious. If you like to people watch, this is the place. Warnning: there are many homeless that are part of the view.

Spent an afternoon at the patio of Venice Ale House. Food and ale was pretty decent, service was excellent and the sunset view was spectacular. If you spend a day at Venice Beach, highly recommend this place for a break.

The beer was awesome! I had the white fish tacos and didn't think they were great. Other menu items are probably better. Good service and cute atmosphere.

Had the afternoon in Venice, thought we would stop by for drinks and a meal....what I encountered could only be described as complete chaos from hostess to waitresses. From my view they seemed to be extremely short staffed. I really wanted to give a better review but I couldn't. The food was ok, drinks were good Location excellent!

Delicious! I visited this place in mid Nov. 2019 w/ a coworker, searching for a bite to eat and a refreshing drink. 1st timers, we were pleasantly surprised. Cool vibe, great food and drink menu for all meals. Had the mussels and bruschetta. Great flavor, fresh. Would definitely return.

Attended here for a late afternoon snack and a couple beers. Decided on the large nachos without meat. Very tasty and fresh vegetables plenty for two. Good beer selection and reasonably priced.

My fiancé and I came here for lunch a few times whilst in Venice beach - delicious food, freshly squeezed juices which is great when you’re a little jet lagged, beautiful scenery and if you sit outside you’re in the perfect spot of Venice beach for people watching. This place gets busy so grab a table if you see one available. This place is suitable for family, friends, couples and going solo. Suitable for all groups.

We waited and waited and waited for a table only to be very disappointed in the food and service. Location is great, service and food not so much. Keep walking....

Even if the bar is well located in the heart of the Venice boardwalk, and the prices are ok, the food was not great and the waiters were not nice. I had great memories from one year ago but then I would not go back.

Venice Beach boardwalk is not a particularly pleasant place after dark, and this is a haven of peace and good beer. We ate here and really enjoyed the food, especially the tacos. The only problem is that it started closing about 9.00pm just when we fancied another drink, so we had to go somewhere else.

So maybe I am just tired from all the walking, but I was a little disappointed with the Ale house. The busy atmosphere leads you to believe it must be great. But in honesty, it’s just alright. Granted, the wait was immensely shorter than predicted. The server was pleasant. The people watching was fun. The beer and alcohol selection was good. But the food was just okay. Good variety and healthy options. Our order did get botched, but a discount was applied to the ticket. I would recommend the place for booze and entertainment. I guess I should have known that an Ale house would be a let down for food.

Nipped in here on a spur of the moment but got a seat on a bench outside. I ordered the chicken, goats cheese and advocado ciabatta with added bacon. Absolutely yummy. Was served quickly and food was hot and tasty. The waitress was cute too, which always helps 👍. I’d definitely return the next time I’m in Venice !

Quick place to grub and happy hour. Great selection of beer and heavy kabocha. Had the small nachos and it still fed two.

Food and service was awesome but the toilets were disgusting and the response from staff when we informed them of their condition resembled disdain and ignorance. They were cleaned while we were eating but the experience wasn’t great

We stayed nearby , this place was a short stroll. Sat outdoors, great view / vibe. Food & drink quick & tasty. (Burger & Tuna Melt) Great selection of beer. Would Return.

My husband and I had lunch early on a Friday afternoon just a week ago. The location (we sat on the patio) is unbeatable for people watching, the hostess was very friendly, but I’m not so sure about the waitress we had. It just seemed that we were wasting her time although we ordered a full meal with drinks. It took her several minutes to get to us for our drink order and then at least another 10 minutes to get the drinks to us. The food arrived surprisingly quickly and was delicious! It also took the waitress several minutes to get our change back to us after we paid cash. We were back in the area the following Monday and stopped in for an afternoon drink at their inside bar. Service and drinks were awesome!! My husband loves craft beers and they have quite a nice and varied menu. We’ll definitely go back next trip....hopefully without getting the not so enthusiastic waitress.

We spent a saturday afternoon here and we liked a lot. nice beer and nice food. the staff was friendly too!

We came by for a casual dinner to meet up with friends. It was super busy around 6pm, and turns into mostly a bar around 8:30pm. Service is very slow to take orders, refill water, and get the check. Food is really tasty with big portions! We got the shrimp tacos, Cobb salad, Mediterranean salad, BATA sandwich and the tuna poke bowl - all were excellent. Our appetizer, the guacamole, also comes with a large side of salsa. Good beer and wine list, and you can get pitchers! Overall a good place to bring friends. Easy, relaxed, and super casual. Good view of Venice Beach, so you can people watch if you want to! It’s also next to a parking lot, which is less expensive than valet parking.

We stopped in for a beer and ended up eating a delicious meal. We had grilled cheese and tomato basil soup, chicken wings and ahi tuna sandwich. loved it all. The service was great and it situated right on the Venice Beach walkway so the people watching was outstanding. It was walking distance to our hotel and we felt safe walking home in the late evening.

Stopped here on our walking tour of the Venice strip. Nice, friendly place to sit down, enjoy a beverage and people watch. Lively atmosphere with great service and fun music. It was a little chilly this day, so we ended up inside to watch the sunset. We didn’t eat here, but the food looked great and much better than typical bar fare. As you can see in the picture, there is parking right across the street.

Walked the Boardwalk and decided to give this a shot. Getting situated was a bit of a challenge, but we got a good location. Tends to be loud between the crowd inside and outside. Hectic as it was during lunch so service was good, but not great. Food was very good. Not well advertised, but they charge automatic 20% gratuity on parties over 5.

You can't beat the ocean view and people watching. Bar seating on the inside, tables under umbrellas and an awning, outside. It's outdoorsy, casual, kind of loud in a fun beachy way, younger attentive wait staff and delicious lunch. Everyone near our table was discussing how good their meals were. (tables are super close together. Don't go if you're claustraphobic) It's right on the corner of Rose Ave and the boardwalk, at the beach. Easy place to find or meet a friend for a drink. I will defintely return!

Just scrumptious. The hostess was radiant, the manager vivacious, (She visited our table to make sure we were enjoying our meal.) Our waitress Vanessa was beautiful with a Mona Lisa smile, quite witty. Excellent service all around! A fun place to be on the boardwalk with a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean. Tables crowded close together. Would round tables create more space? Sat next to a crabby couple with a fussy child. Babysitters anyone? Nothing the waitress offered would suit them. No need to be rude to a waitress who is serving you such delicious food, so pleasantly. Canadian, I'm puzzled that a few customers do not have better manners and treat a server, who was very accommodating, with such disdain. On the other hand, traveling with a child is hard. Still, this is a bar restaurant for grown-ups. The parents had a baby out far too late. Fell in love with Venice Beach and scrumptious food at the Ale House. Like Arnold, "We'll be back!"

Good beer :-) no coffee :-( We didn't eat, but the food looked good. Awesome view and atmosphere. Staff were helpful

Ordered tacos, they were hastily made and did not taste like anything. Literally worst i have ever had. Side nachos were good though and my friend liked his nacho platter. However not a 4 star place, realistically 3-.

If you are looking for a slightly more upscale spot on the boardwalk where you can people watch, eat good food, great music, and SUPERB beer list.. this is the spot! Watch the sunset and enjoy- they offer flights of beer on a skateboard and an amazing sake served with a giant fresh coconut, so refreshing. It is more expensive then other choices off the boardwalk but you cant' beat the action. Another favorite is the Kombucha/beer cocktai;

We didn’t have to wait too long on a windy Thursday afternoon for a table. The food came out relatively quickly with the beers coming out beforehand. I had the beef burger with cheese and it was a little dry. I had to use the Ketchup that came with my potatoes to give it some flavour. The vegan chilli dish was pretty tasty though. Get a table outside to watch the interesting sights of Venice stroll past.

It's hard to recommend anywhere directly on the beach, other than Venice Ale House. Good selection of bowls (Inc Poke), salads and sandwiches. The BATA sandwich was delicious and accompanied with tasty roast potatoes. Exceptional beer selection, with many local LA breweries represented.
Great place to chill and people watch
Great food and nice selection of local beers. Great to sit and people watch on Venice Beach. Can't fault it.
