Something on the menu for everyone, plus unrivaled freshness and taste! You will not be disappointed!

The food and drinks at this Pearl District farm to table establishment are fresh and wonderful, although conservatively spiced. My server who was very friendly was also somewhat aloof. My drink sat empty every time it was empty and therefore my food got cold as I awaited a refill. The decor is simple and comfortable and there is outside seating as well as a roll-up wall. I definitely would have eaten more and had more drinks if the server had been around! The fresh ingredients are wonderful! My chicken was over cooked, but I was excited about all of the fresh veggies on my plate!

So pleased with this gluten free dining experience! We ordered takeout and it was ready right on time, and everything was SO delicious. The portion sizes were perfect and everything was flavorful and fresh with lots of veggies. We loved it!

We we walking by Verde Cocina in N. Portland and decided to give it a try. The sign said "Fresh with Mexican Flair." Sounded delicious. The menu items were very creatively concocted. I had the special which was a pork burrito in a gluten free corn tortilla with a coconut sauce. My husband had Tofu in Mole sauce. I enjoyed my meal but found the tortilla kind of spongy with the sauce on it. I barely tasted the coconut and was pleased that the sauce wasn't sweet. There is outdoor seating and a full bar. Good meal, Good service and a Nuevo option for us!

Have eaten here several times, as well as their Hillsdale location. Owners are from Guanajuato and have donw a great job with both restaurants.

This is an unpretentious and easy place to go with friends, or family, or even alone. There is vegetarian options along with other possibilities.

We came here on the recommendation of friends, and had high expectations. It's a nice space. Service was good. The menu was a bit boutique. It seems this may have started as a nouveau vegetarian spot which has branched out to include some meat on the menu. That's just a guess, based on the menu. Salads were good. Guacamole was good. Main courses...serving size was more than ample. Presentation was nice. The meals looked nice. But taste was lacking. Both my wife and I found the food extremely bland, as if flavors had been extracted. I'm not sure how the others in our party felt about their meals. But we certainly felt the food detracted from the experience. And that's not good for a restaurant.

Portland seems to have an abundance of creative places to eat. Verde Cocina has several locations. The northeast Cocina is located along a street of creative shops and restaurants. Cocina offers wonderfully fresh ingredients creatively combined into exciting entrees. I had chorizo tacos surrounded by a crisp veggie salad. My friend had a salad with kale, lettuce, corn, black beans and more with a tangy lime dressing. The service was excellent. I would go back again and again if I lived in Portland.

We went there for Super Bowl Sunday and felt welcome right away, the food was excellent, they had a special menu for the day so we went back to try the regular menu and it was even better , everyone was friendly we definitely will go back !

I have had their breakfast, the chilaquiles, at the farmers market by PSU and I knew I had to try dinner when they opened a brick and morter in the pearl. The dinner was just as good. I had a special that included the best tasting corn tamales ever! All of the ingredients in everything were so fresh and perfectly seasoned.

Loved the prickly pear cocktails that were the special of the day. The food here is lovingly prepared with ingredients from local farms and artisans. The dishes are large and easy to share. The chef has created interesting, unique dishes that are healthy takes on traditional dishes. It's a little pricy but worth every penny.

Yummy food and great service. Even though it was snowing outside it’s nice and cozy with great food :)

We discovered this place on the Forktown Food tour and returned a week later. The combination of fresh veggies and tasty meats in tacos and quesadillas is superb! We also had a bean salad with kale, and the 'made from scratch' guacamole is a meal in itself...and those margaritas are awesome, with fresh lime juice and pure agave. Yea, Portland has great seafood but sometimes you need a change of pace and this place will send your palate to the moon!

we stopped by Verde Cocina for dinner, having heard of good things from friends. We were quickly seated, offered water and a menu. The service was friendly and attentive. Several interesting and filling options were on the menu, many with tasty corn tortillas. We tried the pork tacos, mole, and guacamole. Presentation, imagination and fresh ingredients were all excellent. Something was missing however. Maybe it was salt? Maybe herbs/spices? Maybe the chef was interested in letting the food speak for itself. Whatever the case, I felt it could use a little something' something. Everything else was great.

The food options are not your typical Mexican cuisine. I would call it Mexican inspired. The dishes are fresh and include lots of vegetables. We ended up here for a casual business dinner for 6. Reservations are recommended.

We are visiting for a few days and had great experiences around the city with food and beverage except here. Really bad service with a waiter that knew nothing. Had to leave multiple times to ask questions. Weird split bill policy that made no sense. Sent food back that was inevitable but did not even ask what happened, if we wanted anything else, and made us pay for an entree that we just took 1 bite from. Do not go here!!!

We appreciated that this restaurant seemed to have a healthy focus and had unique options. Great to see gluten free and vegan options written on the menu! The food just did not deliver what we were expecting. The flavors were not quite there. None of us finished our food, we tried to eat what we could but didn't find any of it very delicious. We actually left and went somewhere else for a snack. It may have just been our personal preference or expectation for different/more flavor. On the bright side the service was prompt and friendly and the restaurant was clean and cute.

I came here visiting from California at the recommendation of my brother who lives in Portland. It's Mexican food with a healthy twist. My husband and I loved it! I ordered the Salmon Hash and my husband ordered the Huevos Rancheros. We also ordered a side of guacamole with corn tortillas. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I wish we had one in California.

Overall this was a great place for vegan eats. As most spots in the pearl, it had a great atmosphere and the staff was super friendly. Their friendliness made up for a few tiny glitches, which I can easily overlook, but if your super picky, you might get frustrated. We had to ask more than once for chips and a second order of guac., they were busy for the amount of staff, so to me it's no big deal. My only gripe was the size of margaritas, they were small and mostly ice. Now, given that we're in such a trendy area, that may be average, or normal. Being from a non-metro town, we just weren't used to it, so I'm taking away one star. The food was really fantastic and I'm glad we went. On the next trip we'll probably not be drawn back because there are so many great restaurants where you can get vegan food in Pdx. Double the size of the margarita and we would definitely go back.

Diverse menu of meats, vegetarian and vegan. Had salmon tacos that were fresh and flavorful. Corn tortillas were thick and tasted homemade.

I love Verde Cocina. My family appreciates the fresh, local offerings, that are mostly gluten free! Also, the atmosphere is fun and the service great.

We were here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The owner and staff were exceptional! The food was fresh and local. The peach margarita was outstanding! I can't say enough good things!

Have you ever seen the episode of "Portlandia" where the couple inquires about the origin of the chicken on their menu? Well, they would certainly enjoy dining at Verde Cocina! At Verde Cocina the staff can tell you where the chicken, beef, vegetables, etc. originate, because they use locally sourced whole foods to prepare their delicious meals! We found the casual atmosphere of Verde Cocina to be suitable for a family. The restaurant was a bit dark with large wooden booths and cafe styled tables. The garage door opened to allow for indoor/outdoor dining. So, we were a little surprised at the prices when we first looked at the menu; BUT we found the food to be well worth every penny we spent and more. (Don't tell!) The service we received was friendly. Our questions and concerns about ingredients (allergy related) were addressed thoroughly and honestly. The convenient location in the Pearl District allowed us to walk there from our hotel. The warm hand made tortillas and amazingly delicious guacamole, the bean and sweet potato salad with a very tastey dressing, and the beautifully plated carne asada with special mashed potatoes each exceeded our expectations. We appreciate that Verde Cocina takes pride in putting vegetables on every plate. Are you particular about ingredients and the sourcing of food? Are terms like "grass fed" or "free range" important to you? Are you vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, or suffer from food Allergies? You may treasure Verde Cocina as much as we do.

We decided to have an early dinner and sat down 5 minutes before the end of Happy Hour. Our waitress was super friendly and told us to take our time and she would give us Happy Hour prices whenever we were ready to order. The pork burrito with mole sauce and sweet potato kale salad were especially delicious. Great Mexican food and wonderful service.

This is now our neighborhood “go to” spot for great Mexican food. It’s quick, friendly and tasty. And there are lots of healthy options.

First, I'll start by saying I love Mexican food, and I was hopeful when I walked in. Started with an order of guacamole and warm tortillas. The guacamole had very little taste. Seemed like it was mashed avocados, big chunks of tomatoes and no spice. The tortillas did not feel or taste house made, so, started out with disappointment. The two salsas that came with the plate were good, though. Main course was chile relleno (one of my favorite dishes). It was huge, stuffed with quinoa, apples, carrots, cojita, sweet potatoes....basically, too much! It was okay, but I felt it was more of a mish mash with no defined taste. I really had high hopes!

Staff was very friendly, bar like atmosphere. We came during happy hour and were expecting Mexican cuisine. The beer certainly was Mexican, Ceviche without cilantro and onions is not. We left a bit disappointed and headed for the next Brewery.

Verde Cocina at Lunchtime.....Super-Fresh ingredients, really big portions. Delicious and very healthy food! Can cater to the vegetarian, vegan as well as the carnivore. The tortilla soup with added shredded chicken was absolutely delicious......as was everything else.

Touted as a farm to table restaurant, it's tough to do guacamole in Oregon unless that farm is in Mexico. Very limited menu heavy on egg dishes. The food was ok, I had a mole dish. The service was markedly slow and poor. There was a teenage kid there who needs some training. We asked him to bring us something and he never did. Couldn't fault our waitress for that. My friend had papas con chorizo that was mediocre and didnt come with a tortilla of any kind. Nice roasted vegetables for all of our meals.

I loved this place. I had a vegetarian mole dish without the guilt of piles of starch and meat. As a pre-diabetic I was amazed that I could order almost anything on the menu because it was mostly protein and vegetables. Everything was well spiced and delicious. I only wish they would open a branch in Olympia, WA where I live.

This is our new favorite Mexican place in Portland. Great food, especially like the veggies with each dish. Excellent margaritas, too!

This is really good Mexican food. Check it out! Everything is fresh and made right there. The veggies, tortillas, cheese and eggs were delicious.

Good selection of small bites and entrees. Service is very good. Cute and small restaurant that makes it cozy.

So so food. Left wing political crap posted on the wall really turned me off. Woman with blonde pony tail waited on us 3/1/18 5 to 9. She could be friendlier. The usual hipster attitude. I like the 6 dollar half chipotle Caesar. Good for paleo and vegans but nothing to brag about. Oh I enjoyed the House red as well.

Stopped here on a lunch break. The food isn't typical Mexican but fresh with lots of vegetables and salad. Very enjoyable.

Excellent mole. Top-notch tequila (choices). Good sangria. Nice ambience. Wait staff seemed a bit inexperienced, but were very friendly.

The food was very fresh and tasty, and the service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant was a little dark, but not overly so.

The food here is unique and traditional Mexican with a special local flair. Each dish has a lot of vegetables with no stodgy rice and beans. The chile relleno and pork gringas con mole were especially good.

The Tres Tacos were delicious, as well as the tofu bowl my friend ordered. The staff were attentive and efficient. The location is convenient to the Pearl District area.

It is a small and personal setting with a thoughtful menu that includes yummy fresh food with great flavor. The homemade corn tortillas are tasty and unique. Good margaritas and guacamole. They have a community table or you can have your own.

My sister told me about this place and we decided to invite some friends along for drinks. It was both of our birthdays in April. Drinks were great! I tried the tequila flight which was wonderful.

Ran into the bar tender at the 2014 BBQ and Margarita cook-off at Zidell Yards and loved their Prickly Pear Margarita and decided to try them for lunch. Glad we did. We are from SoCal (San Diego) so know 'Mexican' food pretty well but no longer look forward to the standard beans and rice that is included in the meals. Verde Cocina has managed to merge the 'farm to table' concept with Mexican influences and has hit a high note with our tastes. They have a 'boutique' food menu and an excellent drink menu. They manage both vegetarian and carnivores equally well. We had the chicken quesadilla and chili relleno. Both were served on top of freshly prepared vegetables with excellent sauces and true 'Mexican' flavors (not too hot, not too mild). We also have their house margarita and their special strawberry/mint margarita. Both were excellent. Clearly we loved the 'fresh' approach to these Mexican staples and will be returning for both the drinks and the food. The service as also excellent.

Servings were ample; food was fresh; service was attentive; but as one member of our group said, "It's good, but it's not Mexican." I had the pulled pork in mole sauce. How can a dish like than not be bursting with flavor? Alas, it was on the bland side. Maybe it needed a little gluten or one of the many things of which Portlanders pride themselves of being free. Just kidding. The Verde Cocina is taking a new look at Mexican cuisine, and for the most part they are getting it right. Along with experimentation, however, comes the occasional clanger which is the price you pay for innovation. I enjoyed the bold approach this place is taking to traditional cuisine, but feel that they risk crossing over the line from Portland to Portlandia.

This small friendly restaurant is very casual with charming decor. The menu has something for everyone and some dishes that do not appear on the usual Mexican restaurant menu. Included are some vegan options. The list of beers is very good and includes several on tap. The service was excellent.

Another great dinner spot in the Pearl District. They have large variety of vegetarian options and the food is fresh. I did not expect the incredibly large portion size for all the dishes. I was stuffed and couldn't even finish my delicious dinner, which rarely ever happens. The service was attentive and the atmosphere is great. If you're a fan of spicy drinks, definitely get the habanero margarita - so good!

Went out to nice dinner here with a co-worker. The menu is small, but full of tasty options beyond your typical burrito fare. I loved that they had some many vegetarian/vegan options. It made it hard to decide. I got the sweet potato and black bean salad which was a winner, though it's on the smaller side. Other dishes that looked good: seafood medley, ceviche, vegetarian chile relleno. Also, there's a huge list of tequila flights to chose from and mix n' match so I enjoyed sampling different types. I'll definitely be back.

This Celiac-safe restaurant is a brilliant find for its own flavour sake... even if gluten isn’t an issue for you! I don’t really enjoy Mexican food, but these unique dishes, are really delicious. We really loved their green tomatillo salsa. Other highlights include the Verde Bowl, Chimichurri Bowl, and a Molé Enchilada (Gringas con Molé) dish with a sauce made from an old family recipe! Good prices. Huge portions. Great eating!

we had some great tacos and interesting appetizers. really nice service and comfortable atmosphere. we enjoyed it!

Visited here for brunch and it was delicious. 100% gluten free, lots of veggie/vegan/paleo Options too. Farm to Fork style, and you can tell that the menu is well thought out and lots of love has gone into it. I started with a peach Agua Fresca, which was refreshing and tasty (especially in Portland’s 40 degree heat) and decided to go for the Buenos Dias breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the smoked bacon was sweet and chewy like little pieces of candy (I promise that’s a good thing) and the fried veggies and garbanzo beans were incredible. The home made salsa were also perfect. Service wasn’t amazing, but perfectly nice, but the food made up for it. Great for celiacs and nice to have so many options! I’d mention to your server about having celiacs just to double check everything, but a perfect place for brunch!

It is not easy to offer new options with traditional Mexican food. Verde Cocina is almost there. Healthy, green, paleo, gluten free options are very impressive. It's difficult to maintain traditional flavours when channging half the ingredients though. So if you are looking for very tradtional burritos, quesidillas or others, may be not the best place. If you are adventurous, foodie and keen to try a new mexican cuisine, and affordable, Verde Cocin is for you. And the staff is really friendly, with a great bartender making really awesome cocktails

We stopped by Verde Cocina as part of our Forktown Food Tour and it was one of our favorite stops. Superb margarita and a wonderful chocolate/chili mole sauce under a pork enchilada.

We had a fabulous dinner on a First Thursday in the Pearl District. The food was perfectly prepared; fresh ingredients, excellent seasoning, nicely presented. The service was friendly and efficient. The chef came to our table and we felt the passion of his food and cooking. A great find in a foodie town.

Nice server, but really awful food. Menu too small. Mole sauce overpoweringly strong. Took one bite and wanted to barf. Margarita served at happy hour was sour and small. Better to order off the regular menu - see if that tests any better....probably not. Portland has lousy Mexican restaurants. Sad.

Had Sunday brunch here on a cold and rainy day. The decor of the place didn't do much to warm us up. However the food was spot on in making us feel better. My Papas y Chorizo was a spicy combination of veggies, potatoes and generous helping of chorizo topped with two farm fresh eggs. Full bar with rotating taps of Mexican and local craft beer. Service could have been more timely -- only two servers to handle a pretty big space.

I had the Gringas en Mole and was in heaven. I also recommend the Queso Fundido...loaded with grilled veggies and chorizo which was unique. The prices were very reasonable and the food was made from fresh ingredients. No Americanized-mexican food here. I will be back!

We enjoyed dinner so much here that we returned for lunch the next day! The food was wonderful, and the staff - Jeff and Julia - were fantastic and made our meal memorable. The owner came to visit with us as well… we felt like we mattered. We definitely recommend! Especially the ceviche and the enchiladas with poblano coconut sauce!

If you want Mexican fusion food with a good beer and craft cocktail list, this is your place. Nightly specials and plenty of indoor seating. Interesting dishes that take Mexican food to a new level. Worth a try while in downtown Portland.

The food here is consistently great, and at any location. I've eaten at both the Pearl and Sylvan locations. There is always a special of the day that will delight. Noe is a great chef.

Very good unique Mexican food in a cozy setting. The food is not your classic Mexican but offers a good mix of traditional and unique options. Gluten free and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktails are well made and delicious. A delicious casual dinner experience.

Wow just had an amazing meal here at Verde Cocina. We sat at the bar and had sangria and then were treated to quesadillas and chile relleno done with flair and great taste. Entire menu is gluten free but that is secondary to the quality of the food. Prices very reasonable too. Eat here soon!

Good semi-authentic Mexican. Main dishes can be hit or miss, but the sauteed veggies they serve with everything are always spot on. Their cocktails are wonderful as well,

Colleagues and I stopped in for an afternoon snack after a business meeting. Chips/salsa was excellent with tasty chips and two types of salsa. We also ordered some of the tacos off the happy hour menu (pork, beef) which were very good.

The question posed was "is this one of the best meals you've eve had in a restaurant." Well if I was 5 years old I might say yes. What a stupid question. Is this a really good restaurant: Yes; Will you go back: Yes, we have often: Did you dine there this evening: Yes, we took friends there; Have you dined there before: many time: Do you like the food: What do you think: Will you go again: What do you think; Is it traditional Mexican food: Not really, I'd call it NW fusion with a Mexican influence; Will you recommend it to other people: No, only to friends otherwise it might get too crowded; How about the cost: Excellent value; So, do you like this place: Absolutely. Even my picky wife likes to eat here. Sometimes I wish she would dine elsewhere without me but the food is too good. Oh well.

On a lazy Saturday morning, in mood for brunch, I was looking for a place which can provide some new taste and boy I was lucky that i found Verde Cocina. There are multiple branches in Portland area and I went to one near Washington park. It was partially clear day. We seated by windows and we ordered vegetarian food. it was full of nice, healthy ingredients with multiple surprises. The apple+Cheese in Chille Relleno was excellent and is a rare find. It was done so nicely that I enjoyed by one and half hour with that dish!

We've been for brunch and dinner and will keep going back. The food is great, healthy and unique. The tequila selection is legit and the service solid.

I loved the fact that this place accommodates food allergies and intolerances. However, this shouldn't mean that it lacks overpriced flavorless food. My husband and I started off with chips and salsa. The chips were nothing special but I did like the salsas. We also ordered a margarita which was quite tasty. I ordered the paleo bowl for my main meal. This consisted of fresh grilled veggies, chimi-Verde salsa and an extra hearty choice of protein. I opted for the steak as my protein choice. The steak was chewy and a little tough. The flavor within the bowl was missing and I am not sure why. My husband ordered the enchilada of the day which happened to be barbacoa. He said that he was confused about where the meat was within the enchilada. He had also complained about the overall lack of flavor.

We found this restaurant very good. We sat outside and it was a nice evening. I had a mole dish which was huge and I had to take 1/2 of it home. Would go here again.

This restaurant started as a stall at the Portland Farmers Market, where they would buy their produce and eggs from other vendors. Today they still buy local and organic, and, as the menu says, "Everything comes with veggies." It is great Mexican food, with fantastic flavors and textures, but no cliches: no refried beans, no canned anything--just super-fresh, super-tasty food and good service. One thing I wish they would do differently: Their house-made salsas are fantastic, and they used to bring them to the table automatically. Now I have to ask for them. Please just bring them--they're awesome. BTW, I've eaten here more times than I can count!

Dined here for dinner with friends. Atmosphere is modern and cozy. Service was very personable and excellent. Food was surprisingly delicious. Being a huge chips and salsa fan and critic, I must say the chips are the best around! All entrees are authentic with an added twist. Will definitely return.

Where to begin here, let me start with the name since I’m going all out here. The correct way for this name in Spanish would be Cocina Verde not Verde Cocina (in Spanish adjectives go after the noun) but hey that’s as Mexican as this place gets. Cultural (mis) appropriation comes to mind here where the ethnicity is appealing but not the people nor the culture where the food is supposed to be from. Here’s what happened. We asked if they had Mexican beer, how dare we assume that in a ‘Mexican’ restaurant they would carry Mexican beer! The waitress who took a really long time to come to our table (and now we know why), and who was arrogant, rude, and make no mistake down right racist, had heard us speaking Spanish; she gave us a horrible look along with a demeanor and a tone that trust me, we recognize a mile away. She said, “no we don’t carry any of that.” I understand if you personally don’t like people who are bilingual (actually I’m trilingual but who is counting?), or who do not look like you, but is is your job to treat ALL patrons with respect and professionalism. We are going backwards and it is people like you, and places like this one that represent what we really don’t need right now, hate, disrespect, and lack of ethics. This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to in Portland. I can not remember the last time I got up and left before I got the beer that the waitress felt safe pronouncing. I would not recommend la ‘verde cocina’ to ANY of my friends nor to anyone who believes everyone should be treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism.

Not your typical heavy Mexican food. Everything was fresh, whole foods. The best part for my family was the whole menu is gluten free. Gluten eaters would feel right at home here too. Huge portions.

Three of us stopped for a late lunch. The portion sizes were large and the food was very authentic and delicious. They make a legit (tart) Margarita! Also, despite all of the Vegan/Vegetarian signs outside, they also had several meat options for those of us that want it.

I like it here. I've been three times for solo lunch at the bar and i love the clean healthy options. The tequila-lime Carne asada salad with chile dressing? Yum. And their verde rice/quinoa bowls are lively with flavor. People are always nice here too. It's a regular lunch go-to spot for me in pdx. No complaints and i love their house made non-gmo tortillas!!!

Noe and Anna own and operate two restaurants (Pearl District and Hillsdale) and a popular cart at several local Farmers Markets. They source very high quality ingredients, the menu is simple but tasty, and they have a very nice selection of mescals. Fabulous corn tortillas are made fresh and served warm, the guacamole is chunky, the sauces are outstanding (especially the ultra hot inferno!) and entrees arrive under a pile of yummy lightly sautéed locally farmed vegetables. There are several good vegan options on the menu and the kitchen is gluten-free (did I mention the fabulous corn tortillas?). The interiors are very nice, appropriate for a weeknight family dinner or a nice date night.

We had a wonderful dinner at Verde Cocina in the Pearl District. Everything was so fresh tasting, and unlike a lot of other places, the food was extremely healthy. The enchiladas were the best I have ever tasted - it seemed like the enchilada sauce was made especially for me! The service was also excellent, and the ambiance is casual and comfortable.

My friend and I came here for our birthday dinner, and were really disappointed in our choice. I think that if you are paleo, gluten free, or vegan, this would probably be an okay choice. We found the food very bland and flavorless. The chile if the paleo relleno was very undercooked. The drinks were also disappointing. We thought the service was good, and the atmosphere was nice, although the bathrooms were not very clean. Definitely our least favorite dining experience in Portland.

We enjoyed dinner here with fresh guacamole app. Steak salads were plentiful. Food was well prepared and leftovers were appreciated for lunch the next day!

We walk past the place almost daily on way to gym and back home so we had to eventually try it. We recently stopped for dinner with three and lunch for two. First, although the Mexican named dishes were familiar the ingredients were a little different. Veggies were fresh and well prepared. Added protein choices were a little disappointing. Like they were not just freshly cooked. We loved a giant Kale salad and limey dressing for dinner but were disappointed with same for lunch (lime missing?). Service was just fine and friendly staff. Main dishes all seem sized to split. We'll go back for sure.

Recommended by the staff at Keen. We ordered the specials (fish tacos and chicken quesadillas). Mexican food unlike any we have had (and we live in Texas)! I will definitely eat here again and recommend to anyone in The Pearl.

My wife and I were looking for a gluten friendly restaurant on a Monday evening and found this place.I guess everything is Gluten free here! It was very quiet at 5:00 which was fine for us. And it turns out that Happy hour is all day on Mondays which was a PLUS. We had a couple of Margaritas which were very good. We aren't big eaters and usually share a meal so we got chips and guacamole and the Chili Rellenos. They were all great. Not huge amounts of food like you get at a lot of the standard Mexican restaurants. But it was very flavorful and quality ingredients.

Considering that you have mostly veggie dishes on the menu, price should be little bit lower. One cocina in downtown and one on Capitol hwy are cozy, nice. Service is usually very good. Dishes are tasty, cocktails very good.

I've debated whether or not to post a review. We just happened upon the place and were craving Mexican food. There were a few dishes with Mexican names and descriptions or components. We decided on the bowls. You pick your protein (we did chicken and carne asada), then if the combination of beans, rice and quinoa. I went with rice and beans. Description said veggies and salsa. First, the meat was ok. His steak was chewy. Second, the beans were white beans and chickpeas. Third, the veggies. Zucchini, brussle sprouts, spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes. As individual elements, I enjoyed them. They tasted good but are not Mexican. Not even the flavoring. We left with one bowl barely touched. I ate what I could, but we left completely disappointed.

Had lunch here one day while visiting Portland. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. As celiacs we both appreciated the number of gluten free menu items. Definitely worth a try if you like fresh ingredients and Mexican inspired dishes.

We tried Chilaquines and Papas y Chorizo and they were amazing! Great customer service. Nice atmosphere.

Amazing food, as said before, very generous size of portions, and a really big variety of vegetarian food options on the menu. This place has a really nice and warm atmosphere, went in the afternoon for a late lunch and it was almost empty yet still felt cozy. Very friendly staff and excellent service. I'll definitely will be back for happy hour or dinner next time.

I love Verde Cocina. The food is excellent, fresh, delicious and the service is wonderful. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner. Love the cafe on Capitol Highway also.

We had the carne asada and the chicken quesadillas. What I liked about this restaurant vs. a typical Mexican restaurant is that they serve veggies with every meal. The food is also very fresh, has a much lighter feel than your typical heavy Mexican food. They don't cover everything in cheese and sauce either. The corn tortillas are homemade right there and they are delicious. Try the guacamole appetizer too, it's great!

Amazing mole sauce and friendly service. Aqua frescas that were tasty and bubbly and beautiful to look at. I'd recommend this to people with or without kids. Guacamole was tasty, and tortillas were soft. Food is such a tricky thing to review since people are so different in their tastes, but I would highly recommend this place. It isn't on the nicest street, but it's worth a visit.

Seriously. I love Mexican but get tired of the same old same old ie refried beans etc etc so this place does all that you love but goes up a gear. Plenty of fresh veg included and amazing bacon - I always eat huevos rancheros and love it but this was a whole new level of awesome. Do it.

We watched tortillas being made in front us while sipping sangria. The quesadilla of the day was out of this world - large pieces of bacon, melty cheese and grilled vegetables. The guacamole was perfect and they serve it with fresh tortillas and not chips- so good.

As you enter the Portland Farmers Market from the north, this is probably the first long line you will see and for good reason. Mexican fare. Lots of grilled veggies. Portions are shareable.

Visited the restaurant during a food tour. Service was nice and decoration was cute. Did not care for the Mexican food served. We had a pork enchilada with mole sauce, veggies, and guacamole. There was no cheese and no sour cream. We are from New Mexico, so we are picky about our mexican food. Visited once, but won't be back.

Love this place! Fresh food, interesting menu, great service, and wonderful margaritas in a relaxed and colorful setting.

Fresh farm to table cuisine based on traditional Mexican dishes. Very nice mix of vegan / vegetarian options and nice choices for meat eaters too. Food was very tasty - we all enjoyed our selections. Large portions. Good atmosphere.

Verde Cocina set a new standard for me for Mexican food. Classy yet relaxed atmosphere, and the food is stellar. The three of us ate at the bar and chatted it up with the (female) bartender, who was very friendly and helpful. Freshest ingredients available - all gluten-free and farm-to-fork!! The corn tortillas.... yum! I enjoyed the Sweet Potato - Black Bean Salad and the Gringas con Mole. The guacamole is chunky and divine. Don't miss this dining experience!

We have visited Verde Cocina at their Pearl, Capitol Highway and Sylvan locations, as well as at the Portland Farmers' Market, and have never been disappointed. My recent meal was their chile relleno special which was pork-based and excellent. Love all the fresh veggies too.

Eggs and Veggies. Healthy, delicious and a can't miss. Try it you will not regret. They have a cart at Saturday market at Portland State U. Yummy.

Rest assured, they are hip to your needs, and if you are gluten intolerant, eat at ease, as they "get it". Amazing dishes and wonderful local wine list with decent prices. Gluten-free, Paleo or Vegan

First experience. Good atmosphere. Nice live music. Service pretty good. The Ceviche was tasty. However, the Gringas con Mole seemed a bit dry and flavor-wise a minor disappointment. Not bad, just not thrilling. A friend spoke very highly of both Verde Conina and the Mole. Small item, I ordered the Gringas con Mole with meat, while a vegan friend ordered the same dish, but without meat. And yet both came with meat (which was quickly replaced). So, perhaps just an off-night. Another friend very much enjoyed their chili relleno. And the drinks were good.

We stopped by this location after moving nearby. We had been to the other location and loved it. We were presently surprised to have a good, diverse menu and some great sounding special. My wife and I each had one of the special dishes along with some cocktails and tequila. Our server was knowledgeable and helped out with our ordering and the while meal. We definitely recommend this place and will be back.

A very nice twist on Mexican food. The homemade guacamole and tortillas were a home run. Nancy, the server, was helpful with the menu and an outstanding server. The food taste and presentation was excellent. Definitely a go to place in Portland!

After a long day on the road, we were starving and just wanted some really good food and this was one of the places I googled that had gluten free. We walked in, were seated immediately and proceeded to have some of the BEST Mexican food (and margaritas) EVER. Flavor and menu choices are just amazing! This place really is a step above from anything I have ever tasted and I cannot wait to go back.

Our friends go here quite a bit because they live close. This was our first time. The food was VERY GOOD!!! Service was excellent. We will go back.

My wife and I happened on Verde Cocina. Farm to Fork locally sourced Mexican food. The house made chorizo in Papas & Chorizo was amazing. House made salsa and pico de gallo were fresh and delicious. Fast friendly service. Highly recommended.

Wow!! Delicious and fresh and excellent service!!! Please check out this place!! You won't be disappointed!! Really fantastic food and drinks !!

If you like fresh, really fresh vegetables and eggs and tortillas (and even bacon) you need to come to this great little restaurant for a different sort of breakfast. Everything that we ordered was fresh. Everything we ordered had substantial fresh and not overcooked veggies in it. It felt so healthy and tasted so good. Some food is too rich and causes the system to slow down (such as my dinner at the Imperial Restaurant - delicious but rich food). In this case, even though I had a meal with bacon in it, the Buenos Dias Breakfast, and I felt energized and ready to take on the day (of sightseeing). The cooks have balanced the dish so well - with lots of wonderful veggies, lots of really delicious chunky bacon, eggs and mashed white beans - hand-rolled tortillas on the side. So, so good. If you like fresh veggies in your meal, this is the place for you. Others at the table had Gringas con Mole which was just as yummy. No plate had food left on it and there were four of us. FYI, a note on the menu states that they use no gluten ingredients in any dish. (of course there is always a risk of contamination at a supplier.)

Excellent creative food, exceptional service, good atmosphere and reasonable prices. Definitely going back. Highly recommend

Had lunch there with another couple. Read the reviews before we went and overall they were good/very good. Very nice photos of various dishes. We ordered fish tacos and the fishy smell of the dish was almost overwhelming. When the wait staff cleared away our dishes there was about 90% of the lunch entree left on each of our plates. So disappointed!
My favourite lunch in pearl Portland
Verde Cocina is one of my most favourite restaurant in Portland . The food is very delicious , always fresh and with good quality . The service is also pleasant . If you are in the pearl district looking for a place to eat , I strongly recommend it . I have been there a couple of times and always like to go back
