We have passed this restaurant many times, but they open at 4 pm on weekdays. We had the opportunity to try it last night for the first time. Very comfortable and the staff seem to enjoy working there. Our server, Kari, was very helpful in describing the dishes and was very attentive. She pointed out the happy hour specials for both beverages and appetizers. The bill was very reasonable. Portions were generous and the food was excellent. We will be taking family members back later next month for dinner and live music.

Was told this place was a must try! Had family in town visiting and decided to try it out. The service was bad and we had to wait over an hour for our food and they weren't even busy. Most of the items we tried to order they were out of and when the food finally came it wasn't that great.

Awesome Food...Less Awesome Service. We visited on Saturday 2/15 around 6pm. We arrived and the parking lot was full, we were seated right away in the inside seating area which was very busy already. (TIP: No reservations, but if you call ahead you go to top of the list when you arrive) We were seated and then waited for 15 minutes before the waitress appeared and took our drink order. Fearing we might not see her again we went ahead and ordered since we had by now memorized the menu! Salads arrived about 10 minutes later and mid way through our salads the main course arrived. The wait staff realized the faux pas but served us anyway. We never saw our waitress again until she brought the check and when she did she seem indifferent and not friendly. All this is very unfortunate because it kind of threw a damper on the experience as the food was delicious! I got the Pork Pastor and my wife got Pollo Palomino. Both were excellent in their taste and preparation but the service really detracted from the dinner. Will this keep us from coming back again? No, but I truly wish the management would work on getting the service staff to the level of the food. I had heard this from many folks we talked to about Verde's and you can see it here and there in the comments left by others. I live not far from Verdes and drive by it almost daily and it is always busy, so I don't think the "rush" of Saturday night was the culprit in the service issue? "no", they should be used to a high volume of customers. I'd love to write another review and give you guys a "5" with the service issues resolved!

Arrived at 4:30pm with 2 other couples. We were the only patrons and getting service was like pulling teeth. Waiter took drink (margarita)order for 1/2 the table and then didn't seem to want to take the drink order for the other half of the table. Very brusque and rude. Had to get up from the table and find a waiter again so we could get a refill on chips and make an attempt to get drink refills. Throughout the dinner we revolved with 2 different waiters. Food was ok but not anything we need to return to try again. We loved this restaurant 2 years ago but until the management changes, there are other places to try. Our grade would be C- and that is being generous.....

What a disappointment. For the 2nd time in 3 years they've taken the chicken flautas off the menu! (And they were really good!). We tried the duck flautas but they just tasted like cheese sauce and not visible actual duck meat. The chips were stale and the frozen margaritas were watered down. They get a good crowd due to the outside playground were the kiddos can scream around and run around- think chuck e cheese. We've tried this spot many times and its been mostly disappointing. If you want Mexican in the area try Maudie's galleria or Los Pinos off Hudson bend road.

Verde's chef's know how to grill meat. I have eaten here a number of times and everyone's meal is always cooked exactly right whether it was a steak, pork chop, duck, quail, salmon, chicken, etc. Sauces are tasty but not hot and compliment the meats well. The pork chop ($21.99) is a real highlight of the menu and well worth the money. You will be pretty happy with anything on the menu. Drinks are generous and strong enough so you actually know you are getting some alcohol. Margaritas ($7) are a good bet. There are two dining areas. The first is indoors, just as you enter the restaurant. It is a nice area and you may prefer it because it is quieter than outside, and cooler in the summer. But, if you have kids or a large rowdy group, opt for the back. It is a large open air, but covered dining area. Fans make a lot of noise. There is also a large open yard area where you can let the kids play without worry. It is even lit at night. They are only open for lunch on the weekends.

This is a little different from your typical Mexican restaurant. It is primarily a grill serving steaks, pork chops, quail, shrimp etc. There is an indoor seating area in the front and a larger open air, but covered area in the back. There is also a large play area so kids can run around. The back part can get pretty noisy with large fans cooling everything off. They do not take reservations but will offer to give some priority if you ask them to. Do not get shied away if you see a crowded parking lot. This is a big place. The food is really good and well prepared. Grilled meats are consistently well prepared. Portions are big but not obscene. Starters are large enough to be a meal for some folks and certainly suitable for sharing. Oyster sliders are fantastic. Jalapeno boats, $8.95, are hot but quite tasty with chorizo and goat cheese. Margaritas are well made and at $7, a decent value.

This restaurant was on a list provided by our hotel. Based on reviews, we thought we'd give it a try. Our waitress was great! We were going to go with the enchiladas, but she suggested trying the pollo palomino. We're so glad we did! The food arrived quickly and was hot off the grill. Our chicken was very moist and tender and the sauce was amazing! My husband loved the salsa that came with the chips; it had a little heat to it. The cilantro lime rice was so light and fluffy! The only thing we didn't enjoy were the green beans, but that's just a personal preference. (It was the vegetable of the day) The other reviews are right; if you're looking for the typical heavy, Mexican meal, this isn't your place. We did find our plates to be just the right portions without feeling overstuffed. We were there during happy hour (4-6:30 I believe...) and all 'craft cocktails' were $5. We each had a frozen margarita that was very tasty. We ended our meal with the chocolate tower cake. So delicious! We'll be back the next time we're in the area!

The food was seasoned. You can tell when a dish has been cooked WITH the seasonings as opposed to cooking the food and adding seasoning at the last. Even the rice had exceptional flavor and rice is usually a bland filler. Thanks to Groupon, we ventured out and tried "the place on Hamilton Pool Road". Queso was great. Salmon was great. Chocolate tres leches cake was more like a light brownie and delicious. Can't say enough about the food----will definitely go back. The outdoor seating in the back looked like a great place for families with little ones to run in the field beyond. Now, if they would just do something about the noise level and tell everyone to relax and lighten up--they all look way too serious-especially the people standing between the bar and kitchen.

Alpenhof Steak Haus closed a couple of years ago - it was vacant for a time, but when I drove past a couple of weeks ago I saw that the building is now occupied by a BBQ restaurant.

Can't say enough about their pork chops. Anyone who has them will be back. Great place for a romantic dinner or a celebration with friends. Back patio is roomy and kids are welcome. I've had dinner here a few times and every meal has been excellent.

If you're expecting a traditional Mexican restaurant, this place will take you by surprise. While they did put chips & salsa on the table and do use some Mexican ingredients, I would list this more as an American restaurant with a southwest flair. That said, everything we had was good. The steak I ordered was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. I was thrown by the plain rice and steamed broccoli as sides, but like I said - this isn't what I would call Mexican food. When our neighbor asked if I'd recommend it, I said 'absolutely'. The food was delicious, and we now understand why there is always a crowd at night and on weekends. But if you asked me to list favorite Mexican restaurants, this place wouldn't occur to me. But that's a classification issue, not a quality issue.

Food was great and the playground was amazing except for the big mud puddles by the door!!!! I really wish the would take care of that because nothing worse then mud getting tracked on your cat.

On a recent vacation to Austin, TX we ended up on our last night at a restaurant that was recommended by a local person we met and it turned out to be quite the gourmet experience. Verde's Mexican Parilla is off the beaten path on Hamilton Pool Road /Bee Cave Pkwy/ Hwy 3238 and off of Hwy 71 West in a place that was a locals hangout. We thought we would check out Happy Hour and see if we wanted to eat dinner there....and ended up staying there for the rest of the evening and ate at the bar. The fun loving group of friends at the bar recommended the Margueritas and bartender Jenna whipped up excellent ones from scratch. The Chef, Cody, came out to chat with the people at the bar and you could tell they were all friends ...and soon we were included in the conversations. Recommendations to have the house special: Pork Chop (with a double bone) served w/smashed potatoes and green beans & tomatoes was excellent. So was the jalapeño stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon appetizer and the Pasta Del Mar (PEI mussels, jumbo shrimp, jumbo lump crabmeat w/ tomatillo ranchero sauce). Chef Cody had the sauces perfected! A honey, beurre sauce w/ tequila was on the pork chop, the shrimp appetizer had a beurre blanc sauce of tequila/lime and butter and a chipotle cucumber slaw. All yummy! And then Cody brought out a sinful dessert of strawberry bread pudding with a spectacular sauce. What an excellent evening for our last night in Austin! Friendly people that made us feel at home, excellent food and great customer service. As a parting gift, Cody gave me a small container of his special herb rub mix that I have been using on fish and vegetable stir fries since I have been home. This place should be on your list when you visit Austin!

Verde's is a great place, lot's of great food choices.

The atmosphere? Great! Service? Exceptional! Cleanliness? Terrific! The food? SALTY!! Overly so too. The queso was the best part of the whole meal. Could've been an off night but we were disappointed...

Stopped in recently on a Tuesday with friends for an early evening dinner. Our waiter was indifferent and really couldn't seem to be bothered - to the point that another waiter stepped into help take our drink and food orders after we got up several times to ask for assistance. If it were busy I could maybe understand, but aside from one other couple we were the only people in the place. The chips and salsa arrived and once the few whole chips from the top of the bowl were taken the rest were little tiny pieces. We asked for more and after a long wait they came, yet it was the same issue, mostly broken. The margaritas were strong - to the point that I only drank 1/2 of mine, but getting the waiter to come back and take additional drink orders for the group was ridiculous, My husband drank the rest of mine after giving up on the waiter coming back to see if more drinks were needed. When the food arrived it was good. Unfortunately the food couldn't make up for the poor service and how long it took for the waiter to take care of us, then when asked to split the bill between couples that just seemed more than he could handle. Again, ridiculous. Doubt very seriously that we'll be back. They're too many other choices in the Austin area where your meal doesn't have to be a battle.

Beautiful and modern building, nice keg room, outstanding food, excellent service, any tequila you could ask for.

Just left gun show in Dripping Springs and drove by Verde's. Turned around and ate lunch. Am I glad we did. Service was fast and good. Food great. We had the vegetable chilli relleno. Plenty of chips and salsa. Great prickly pear margarita. Prices are moderate. I definitely recommend!

We just tried this restaurant on a neighbor's recommendation and we are happy to say it was really really good. Went during Happy Hour on a Tuesday night and the place got busy quickly. Great service from waiter Ian and Luke the manager. Tried bacon wrapped shrimp, poblano pepper with skirt steak, drinks, and a delicious appetizer of Green Queso with toast points. Will be going back soon!!

The Mexican food here is unusually amazing and unusual all the way around. It's not your typical Mexican fare. Kinda crazy finding such a great place in such an out of the way spot, but there it is! The kids can run around in their back field area, and honestly my favorite thing about this place is the happy hour. It's pricey, so if you get there before 6, you can get your drinks and appetizers 1/2 price. Doing my little happy dance here. The wait staff is awesome. The owners are nice too.

The food here is wonderful. My favorite appetizer is the bacon wrapped duck-try it, you'll like it! We have had several of the entrees. Today we had the Pollo Palomino and the Chile a la Parrilla and both were good--We would have them both again but preferred the Pollo Palomino. I showed up today at 4:00pm when they opened, ordered at the bar for food to go, and was ready to go with my food in 20 minutes. Good deal.

Happy hour is a great savings! My favorite entree's are a toss between the double Pork chop or Pollo Verde! Nice big patio out back too!

They take traditional dishes and give them a unique twist. Everything you order here is fabulous and also has just a bit of a "what is that I'm tasting that is making this taste so good yet so different from what I was expecting." It's slightly out of the way but ....oh so worth finding! The locals all make it a point to know where it's at. Be sure to check their hours before going they open later.

Our group of five was very impressed with the quality of the cooking at this Mexican grill located some distance from Austin. It is quite large with two dining areas, one a traditional dining room and the other, a large, covered, open-air dining area in the back with access to a huge out door play area for kids. We arrived just at the end of happy hour which features drink specials and $3 off appetizers, so our first round of margaritas cost $5 and our queso was $4. The margaritas were tasty but not very strong. Obviously their specialties are grilled meats, but not just steaks. I was tempted by everything on their menu, including bacon wrapped quail, pork chops, duck, and the rellenos stuffed with grilled meat. Our table ordered the pork chop, two different steaks, the chili relleno and the duck. Everything was grilled to perfection. One standout was the pork chop, a beautiful 1-1/2+ inch thick two-rib chop that was beautifully and perfectly medium rare all the way through. It was as tender and juicy as any pork chop could ever hope to be. My duck breast was also grilled to a rosy pink and was served with an ancho orange sauce on the side. The steaks were done exactly as ordered. The sauces were subtle but flavorful. We shared a chocolate tres leche cake for desert with was way too rich and too large for anyone to tackle alone. The service was a little slow, but accommodating and polite. No real issues there. This place has a real following of the folks who live in the Bee Cave and Dripping Springs area and with good cause. If it was closer to Austin, you would be waiting in line to eat here. They are only open for lunch on Sundays.

I recently went to Verdes on a Sunday. I enjoyed my food but the service was.... um.... a bit odd. Our server seemed to having a bit of an off day. The server was pleasant but absent minded. I had the carne verde; which was very good. The onion strings were a nice addition to the dish. My dining companion had a similar dish of chicken; which she enjoyed very much. Great tequila selection and fantastic margaritas, including the house margarita! I do recommend Verde's when near the Bee Cave's area.

By far my favorite restaurant. Food and drinks are excellent. Staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Kids can play in big field. Win, win, win. It's all worth it, even if you have to drive a bit.

Went on a Sunday of Labor Day and though food was great, service was very slow allegedly because they did not expect such a large crowd. Great place for kids to run around in the outdoor area but the service was just painfully slow...otherwise a 5 star place.

Read some reviews on Yelp - some good - some not so good. They seem to lack how to wait on a group and split tickets. Wife and I split the fajitas - beef and chic - they added $2 to make it a combo up from the price of a single beef. Portion was OK Several others had entrees that looked good. My sister had prawn shrimp wrapped in bacon and she loved it. Would likely go back but no rush. My wife and I have another favorite for Inner Mexican food nearby

We were excited to go here and love the rustic setting. They specialize in Parilla (which are grilled meats) we had the small tenderloin, very good at $12. The queso as an appetizer did not appeal as it was too milky for our taste. We sent it back and had a so-so guacamole. Margarita was quite good. We had just hiked at Hamilton Pool which we highly recommend for it sure beauty and ruggedness. She had the chicken enchilada that were served New Mexican style with the tortillas flat instead of rolled, they were very good also.

This place has amazing food! We met the chefs wife at an even years ago. This place really knows what they are doing.

Omgosh - what a find! We recently were returning to Johnson City from the Lakeway area and just happened across Verdes. We were greeted by two professional hostess, and seated way ahead of our expected wait time, I did request outdoor seating and once you go there you will see why, and it would be worth the wait.Once seated our server Luke was on top of guiding us with dinner selections and was attentive to our table of 4, and never hovered. We had a fab dinner and drinks were PERFECTLY served! Try the Jose Cuervo La Familia. We had bacon wrapped shrimp, Pollo Palomino, Chipolte porkchop, and duck flautas. Just wanted to lick the plate!! Everyone around us seemed to be having the same wonderful fun evening and dining experience we were - next time packing the grandkids because there's a great green space they can run, throw balls and just hang while us grown ups hang. By the way... Cody the chef - top notch! Also check out their website or call - because they host concert dinners with performes like Bob Schneider. Can't wait to get back there!

They are a repeat offender. We called ahead and was told 35-45min. Got here 20 min later and was told 30-40min. We have literally been onsite waiting for 80min. They literally can’t figure it out when they are busy. Bad management

Hamilton Pool road is still somewhat out in "the woods" so to speak, though suburbia threatens nearby. It is on the way to and from several towns and attractions outside Austin. I had not been here in years, but we stopped on the way from Fredericksburg to Austin. The mostly unpaved parking lot and general look of the restaurant both inside and out, will not, repeat, not, overwhelm you. The dimly lit interior could use a renovation but the food….excellent. Try the grilled pork chop…enough for 2 moderate appetites, it is the best chop I've ever had. The tortilla soup is good, and spicy. The place began to fill, though they have a very large capacity. I will definitely go here again…a five for the pork chop ! Two tortilla soups, a glass of wine, and the pork chop entree, with tax was about $38. Next time, we'll just have the entree's.

After touring wine country in Dripping Springs my husband and I decided to stop at Verde's so we parked our car with no zero problem and we were seated right away everyone was seated in the patio area. I started to order the Tequila Bellini an appetizer which was the avocado dip with chips and the another incredible spaggatti squash appetizer which melted in my mouth. ..................yes very tasty!! After our appetizers we order our main course which was the steak with corn and rice. I ordered the best enchiladas with white rice and beans , I ever had in fact took the rest home since I couldn't finish it all. The chef was very nice in pouring our tequila drink with lime. I will love to come again next week end and try the linguini. You will enjoy the food I promise very laid back not loud friendly place to meet good folks if your in the area. Glad we did! ENJOY!!

My husband is traveling across country in our Airstream and I flew in for a week to visit with him and our friends who live in the area. Verdes is a short drive from our campground and hubby and our friends, who live here and love it, thought it would be great for dinner tonight. We had high expectations for a great meal. Chips/salsa arrived, spicy and good. Drinks were great (I recommend the cucumber mint agua fresca). The Shrimp Mojo that two of us ordered as our entree was over salted to the extent we could not finish. We mentioned this to our server and they tasted the shrimp we could not eat and were beyond apologetic. Clearly not a usual occurrence and they compensated us for the shrimp on our tab. I would definitely return and be confident in ordering the shrimp again. (The other two meals were great!)

If the food weren't so delicious we wouldn't keep coming back. The Noise from surrounding tables is so loud inside during peak times we can't even communicate without yelling. We call in orders often to take home for that reason. Some simple sound absorption buffers in the ceiling would help immensely.

Always a great place to gather to meet friends and enjoy a great meal. With the temperature cooling off, it is very comfortable to eat on the back patio. The staff was friendly and outgoing as always. The porkchop is tasty and so is the stuffed quail. Only downside of meal was the guacamole, tasted a little like shrimp.

Verdes really continues to deliver despite all the virus restrictions--the food and service are excellent. We were on Hamilton Pool and needed some lunch, so we stopped and had a good one here--it has been a while since we have stopped. They are following the good health and social distance limitations that are appropriate for the current conditions. All the staff is makaed and the patrons wear them to get to the tables. The place has not changed any from the last review, but the tables are a long way from one another. They have added a pulled pork tostada to the appetizer menu, The fish tacos continue to be an excellent starter. We really like the food here. It reminds us of the great food you get in Mexico City. They do things right and are worth a stop to experience them. Parking is easy and right off the highway.

Went in for lunch. Person behind bar told us 20 minute wait. 3/4 of restaurants empty. Ignored us. Just left. Can find another place easily. At least sit us down with drinks.

We love Verdes. We've eaten here as a couple, as a family, and even held both our rehearsal dinner and graduation party here. The service is good and the food is excellent. I always get the carne asada, which they now even offer in a smaller portion. In terms of the parties that we've hosted here, they were both on the patio so that kids could enjoy the huge lawn area. We also held both during happy hour and the prices were very reasonable. Great choice if you're near the Lakeway area!

Had our daughter's softball team end-of-season party here. Great outdoor space for the kids to run around. Great patio for drinks and dinner. Absolutley loved this place!!!

Verdes is a very good mexican restaurant in a town full of good mexican restaurants. Kid friendly. Not typical TexMex. Foucs is on grilled meats.

I have been driving by for two weeks since moving down the street. The parking lot is always full so we finally stopped. Thank you lord for making me hungry on the way home. Great sauce and chips. The bacon wrapped shrimp are more than expected! Don't miss the queso with fajita meat - delicious. BTW. The top shelf margaritas are perfect!

This had to be my best meal in any Mexican restaurant and one of my best meals ever. The complimentary chips and salsa were really good. My main entree was the bacon wrapped quail which was stellar. I was in awe with each bite. Probably not for everyone but nobody does it better, an absolute delicacy.

If you go before 5:30 happy hour prices apply. We go here to unwind, have a drink and hors d'oeuvres. We often just call that our evening meal, but all the food is excellent.

I know food is always better at the source and not put in a container. Probably would have rated 5 stars if we ate there. We ordered the steak and chicken for carryout an it was very good. The poblano mashed potatoes are a must!!!

There were six of us, all with different meals. It was incredible! We went because one of our party had been there in the past and had bacon wrapped quail. I had their salmon and it was so good that I know it will be one of those meals I talk about to others. I highly recommend anyone go there. Quite a variety on the menu. An awesome spot to take kids, too. We ate outdoors and there is a big playground area right there for the kids to spend time in while waiting to eat.

Another date night with my wife. We hadn't eaten here in several years, but on a whim we decided to drive through the country. Fantastic! no wait @5:30 on a Saturday. Great service, with constant attention from not only the server, but also the manager. Very stout margaritas. Salsa and chips were good. Entrees were enchiladas and a unique Chile Relleno. It was unique due to being stuffed with cheese, and then wrapped in a thin rib-eye. Finished with a chocolate tres leche cake. Great dining experience. Ambiance, food, service and prices were way above the norm.

Excellent food. Nice setting. Easy to visit. Our group had the bacon wrapped quail, guacamole which was delicious, Pollo Verde and Carne Asada. Not your typical text mex, very tasty food.

This place is different and really good. I think it may have been the best salsa and chips I've had in a long time. The menu is varied I had chicken my wife had tenderloin rellenos. My son had the pork loin and my daughter in law had a fish selection. All good. Service was good. I'll go back!

The food was alright but the waitress complained to someone at our table that they thought we should tip more. We tipped $40 for 4 people. How embarrassing. Never going back.

Overall experience was good. Food was good and they did a good job of trying to keep everyone happy until food arrived. It took a while to get our food as they seemed to be understaffed the night we were there. Heard the corn was good but not available tonight. Good area to keep the kids busy and wait staff did a great job recommending food and drinks. Would definitely go back just plan on a couple hrs.

Delicious, so flavorful. The salsa was practically addictive and the tortilla chips were served warm. I had the Pollo Palomino and the chicken was nicely grilled, the sauce topping it perfect, and the green beans that come with it included some other veggies and were nicely seasoned. My wife had Veggie Tomatillo Enchiladas and said they were amazing.

Verde's delivers quality Tex-Mex food. Another good meal enjoyed recently... the complimentary chips and salsa are da bomb! Light crisp chips, and the salsa tastes like it just came out of the garden... super fresh ingredients! We had a couple of the "Lime in the Coconut" cocktails, reminiscent of a pina colada, but better, and not too sweet. Very good. For food, we settled on the pollo flautas (chicken flautas) and the fish tacos. Both were very good, and the flautas were some of the best we've ever had. The tacos were stuffed full of fish and fresh veggies. We sat at the bar this visit, and the bartender was super-busy, so not much time to visit. Recommend Verde's for good Tex-Mex in the Dripping Springs area.

It is hard to write this review because the food was great but the service was horrible. On May 22, 2018, we were at table 20 and our bill was closed at 6:58 pm. Our server was Alan. He could be described as WWA, waiter with attitude. After our first drink and order was taken, we did not see Alan for quite some time. When he appeared he asked us if we wanted another drink. My wife ordered another margarita without salt. We never saw Alan again for what seemed eternity. When he appeared, he had our main meal, a margarita with salt and a margarita that I did not order. He never refilled our water and never said thank you. Horrible service can ruin a nice dinner.

We ordered chicken enchiladas and pollo verde, both delicious. The enchiladas arrived cold but all I had to do is mention that to the waiter (Luke) and he got me a new set of enchiladas hot out of the oven - excellent, tasty and satisfying. I was coming back from Pedernales park so I will keep this place in mind for future visits around the area.

This place could be excellent if focus was paid to wait staff, hosts, and overall service. The food is amazing, the only thing saving an average score. 1.5 hrs waiting for table, flippant hostess unable to handle stress of busy evening with no update on wait status, table unprepared and waiter with no idea we were seated, missed orders and orders charged that never received, lots of wait staff standing around laughing not chipping in, multiple upset guests. This appears to be an organizational leadership problem and from reviews no motivation to change as its been going on for some time. Sad, could be amazing place.

This is a place we often forget to use because it is a little "out of the way" on Hamilton Pool road, but we should not! It is always a "safe bet" for very good food with decent service. This is not the standard "Tex/Mex" food you would expect. It is an interesting "take" on Mexican food which will delight most diners. The mussel appetizer is is exceptional--very spicy but great taste. They have an incredibly hot grill (1200 degrees) that sears in the flavor and juices of any chicken they prepare--it tastes so different than most other restaurant's fare. The outside eating area is a wonderful space for kids and grandkids--you can watch them as they play in the huge back yard area--yet, you feel that you are in a real dining room. The wine list has an excellent malbec on it and the beer options are decent--not great, but decent. The dress is very casual and they encourage children to come with the parents--and they do come! If you do not want all the "kid activity," the dining room at the front of the restaurant is the place for you to have a very quiet and pleasant dining experience. The bar is also very friendly. They are not as good for private group dinners as we would like them to be. I do not think they do enough of them to "learn the trade" of big groups separate from the main dining areas--they tend to forget you! Because the place is so popular with local families (many using it as a meeting place), the parking can get very problematic. Consider bringing your group in one car to ease finding a spot! Friday evenings can be a madhouse!

We wanted to try something different. Bad decision. This place was a HUGE disappointment. Got there and hostess was very nice and welcoming. She sat us inside. Nice looking dining room at first. No one came for 9 minutes. Then we see a guy come in from outside and sees he has a table. Comes to table smelling funky like he had been outside all day and all sweaty. Not a good look. We order drinks. $12 for an old fashioned. $14 for a margarita that wasn't even top shelf. Drinks come. " old fashioned" was literally whiskey on the rocks with an orange peel. My margarita was mostly ice served in tall glass. Tasted like a margarita mix. Horrible. We ordered queso ... it came out Luke warm. But tasted pretty good. Order food ... mixed fajitas for two. Shrimp and beef. $45 for two. Pretty small portion. Now the bad : the place needs a deep cleaning. Terra gotta floors look Like they were last cleaned in 1979. Dirty walls by kitchen. The server disappeared after our food came out and didn't reappear until 15 min after we were finished eating. There wasn't a lot of people inside or outside at that time. This place has so much potential but unfortunately we won't be back. Not a good first impression at all and the bartender needs more training or they need someone new. Also i forgot to mention that the refried beans tasted like SLOP. LITERALLY THE WORST BEANS IVE EVER TASTED. How do you mess up beans in a Mexican restaurant ? Seriously. They tasted like canned beans from 1979. Horrible.

We are fortunate enough to live near this great restaurant and have been here on several occasions. The food is consistently good. Expect a wait on weekends and during nice weather. We love the open area in the back where the kids can play.

We like to visit Verde's every time we are in town. They have a great patio, and it has has this huge area for your kids to run around. Love that. The menu isn't very typical of a Mexican restaurant. You won't find fajitas, or crispy tacos. There are a lot of interesting dishes! I asked for fajitas, and they were able to make that even if it's not on the menu. The skinny margarita was delicious! Queso is really good, but the guacamole is a little skimpy. I would have liked more!

My friends and I keep coming back to Verdes Mexican Parilla The food and margaritas are well above average as is the menu selection. The service is excellent even when busy. The atmosphere is pleasant. A winning combination.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Bit of a wait, but they had a large crowd. Portions are Texas large.

Our kids had their rehearsal dinner here and it was great! The chef/owner spent a lot of time with them, planning the menu, tasting food, rearranging things when our group got bigger than expected... He even created a special dish just for them. Feeding a large group usually turns in to rubber chicken, but not here. Everything was delicious and all had a great and fun time!

We were looking for a place to celebrate the end of a long busy day. Verde's has been on the list, but it is out of the way a bit. It was a beautiful drive. As expected heading to a Mexican restaurant on Cinco de Mayo, they were busy, but we only had a 10 minute wait to sit inside. The menu has many options that are not your typical Mexican restaurant fare. I had the Pork Pastor which was excellent. My wife had a pasta dish that was huge. I will get to try the leftovers tomorrow. My son had the mac & cheese "best ever" (Ha!) Looking forward to trying the quail next time. They have a nice outdoor area to eat and a nice outdoor bar and a place for kids to play. Only downside was they could not figure out how to process my cell phone rebate visa card. (I had verified amounts before we left online).

I had the Verde Margarita, it wasn’t my favorite, but ok. The Pollo Verde was one of the best dishes I have ever had. My friend had the a steak. The chips and salsa were very flavorful. The interior has a nice feel. With this experience, I plan to return. Our server was incredible.

Was not expecting the style of food they had to offer. I assumed the traditional tex mex was being served. Very surprised at the dishes that was available!! After talking with our waitress who suggested a few, my gf and I enjoyed a great meal and was satisfied. The staff was friendly and the top shelf drinks were great! Would eat there again!!

I keep coming here because I want to support local restaurants. Unfortunately every time I visit the food is a disappointment. No flavor. Not interesting. There is no consistency in the salsa. Today too hot but the last time tasteless. I hope they can somehow get some taste in their food. I like this place and the frozen drinks are good but I can’t keep coming back for bland food.

Eaten here quite a few times, & I try to order new stuff as much as possible. Everything I have had has been great. Last week finally had the Pork Chop...ridiculously good. The Carne Verde is great. My dad gets the Salmon every time & says " best salmon I've ever had!" My only 2 negative critiques are...the parking can be a pain (limited space so what can they do), and I ordered a margarita on the rocks & it was meh. Overall though this place is great!

I strongly recommed the bacon wrapped shrimp app. I get this every time I am at Verde's. For dinner I recommed the chipotle pork chop.

We hired Verdes Restaurant for catering at our recent event and were absolutely blown away! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented — every guest raved about it. The service was just as impressive: professional, organized, and so easy to work with. They made the entire experience stress-free and elevated our event in every way. If you're looking for top-tier catering with unforgettable food and seamless service, Verdes is the way to go! Highly recommended.

This is the fourth time we have visited Verdes in the past 5 years and each time has been equally delicious! The only reason we don't go more often is that we don't live in Austin! Our favorite dishes are the Pollo Palomino and the Pollo Pastor with a side of their unique roasted chipotle corn. Their salsa is fresh and flavorful and paired with their queso, you may find it difficult not to scrape the bowl clean! We will return!

We stopped at Verde’s late on Friday, 15 minutes before closing. Instead of steering us to the bar and a limited menu we were welcomed with open arms. To start, the bartender made up perfect custom margaritas. We started with delicious bacon wrapped quail make with local quail. For dinner we had the stacked enchiladas and carne asada which were both outstanding. The service was great even though we were the last table, we never felt hurried. We can’t wait to go back when in the area and enjoy the patio.

Our table had Pollo verde, Pollo Palomino and the pork chop. We shared dishes and the favorite hands down was the pork chop. All three dishes were excellently prepared. Our server Rene was very busy, but did not let the business of the restaurant detract his level of service. We started with the white cheese queso and it was wonderful also. A delightful dinner! We will be back.

Stopped by Verde’s for dinner this past Saturday. We decided to dine at the bar, as the STL Cardinals game was just starting on the TV behind the bar!!! Met Brandon working behind the bar, who turned out to be one of the owners, and originally from my home state of MO, and also a HUGE Cardinals fan! His Cardinals baseball cap was a giveaway! LOL It felt like it was going to be a good night… and it was! We started with complimentary chips and salsa, which was delicious: super crispy corn tortilla chips, lightly salted, and a very fresh, salsa with just the right amount of heat. We ordered a couple of appetizers, the ceviche and the calabaza cakes. The ceviche was super fresh, and the fried flour tortilla chips served alongside made a good pairing. The liquid wasabi drizzled beneath the chips was a bit of a surprise, but, alongside the mango drizzle, it was good. The calabaza cakes are spaghetti squash and stewed chicken atop a poblano cream sauce. A tasty and delicious combination, and the cream sauce was sublime! For entrees, we enjoyed the fish tacos and shrimp mojo dishes. The ingredients in both dishes were super fresh, freshly prepared, and seasonings were on point. Simply put, both entrées were outstanding! We tried several margaritas during our meal, and we would have to say that the Skinny Holly was our favorite. We were too full to even think about dessert, so we will have to save that for next time. Ending the evening on an incredibly high note, Brandon allowed us to take an empty bottle of one of our favorite tequilas served at the restaurant, Clase Azul Reposado. Excellent tequila, in a hand-painted pottery bottle. I can also vouch for the Verde’s grilling seasoning sold at the bar. I used it the following night at home, and it is outstanding… Great people, great food! A bit pricey, but not bad. We’ll definitely be back!!! I do need to apologize for some of the photos included with this review; as noted above, there was a Cardinals' baseball game on, so I did not get pictures of some of the dishes until they were partially eaten! LOL

Even though I live near here, I had never stopped in. It was busy for early Saturday afternoon but we found room at the small bar for a drink to wait for friends. The queso is very good. We also shared a small plate of stuffed peppers. All the food was great but the service seemed slower than necessary as there were open tables by the time we dined. Will be back.

You won't find Mexican food like Verde's anywhere else in Austin. Every dish and every side is optimized to perfection with amazing sauces and flavors. There are no plain sides here. The chef does something to everything. I love the garlic shrimp, it comes with an amazing flavored rice and wonderful corn shaved from the cob with a fantastic creamy salsa. The sides are almost as good as the entree. Likewise the pork chops are thick, meaty and tender. Garlic mashed potato sides with the corn and creamy salsa. The fantastic rib eye - it has come and gone from their menu, at last visit they promised it was coming back. Don't bother with the tough dry sirloin, wait for the rib eye to come back. Despite the amazing food, the service and ambiance are notably un-special. The place is packed almost every day because there are no other options within 10 miles of the place, and the wait and service staff are pushed every day to the breaking point. The chef seems to way outclass the service of the place. The worst problem is the noise. The acoustics are insane inside, a loud roar, and when busy are almost as bad outside. I complained several years ago when they first opened - it can give you a headache within 45 minutes - and they promised noise abatement was high on their list, but not so far. They may be victims of their own success because they are so busy they don't have time to fix the problems. It's a shame, because the place is so pretty inside, but the only way to really enjoy it is to be one of the first diners when they open at 4 pm (uncivilized for dinner, I know). Wait staff have not been stretched to the breaking point yet and the noise is bearable. Of course, they have wonderful take-out! That's how we solve it during their busy hours. Call ahead and get it to go.

Ian was our waiter and he was 1st class. Served us cheerfully, happy, polite and made sure we had drinks and food during our stay here. The atmosphere was very "Happy" as it is Mother's Day so the place is packed. A very nice place, plenty of parking. Easy to get to. A great bar and over 100 selection of Tequila. We had a great time and will be back. Make sure to stop by here for a fun time.

We love Verdes and visit about once a week. Don’t miss out on great margaritas and the best bacon wrapped shrimp for starters. Anything with a sauce is excellent! Our favorites are the petite steaks (either one) and the chicken azul. OMG desserts are to die for. New owners doing a fantastic job.

WOW, and WOW! Everything was fabulous, delicious and so well managed!! I have to let the world know how awesome everything & every morsel was! Thanks for making dining, drinking and our wedding celebration so effortless for me! You and Cody took it to the top!!Everyone raved about the ribs, shrimp, green beans, all of it!! the banana pudding!, I mean the compliments just keep coming!Jalapeño boats, bacon wrapped shrimp, calabaza cakes,RIBS,beef brisk, turkey, roasted potatoes, not yo mommas green bean casserole!!thank you for catering for our wedding dinner at our home-straight from the heart of the SOUTH!

It's not a typical Mexican restaurant. No tacos, burritos or fajitas. I had the pork chop and it was pretty good. My wife had linguini and it was good too. The queso dip was $8.50 on top of the $3.50 for chips and salsa. It was a big bowl of queso but I didn't like it as much as other restaurants. Ambient noise from other tables was very loud. Food seemed all freshly made. I would say it's Mexican cooking and flavoring of more regular dishes. Bill for family of 4 with no alcohol was $72.

Stopped in on visit to Austin on way home from visiting wineries . Food wad fresh an tasty. Had pineapple park that wad juicy and delicious.Would definitely return.

Very nice non-texmex fare. We had the Carne Verde and the Carne asada. Both were very good. Waitress was very attentive bringing drink refills before being asked.

This food is just plain good. Have dined here many times with entire family (8 people) Food and service always has been good. Husband had whole fried snapper...excellent. The chicken dishes are interesting, seasoned well and tender. Haven't had the steaks yet, but other tables of diners all had steaks so must be good. Tequila nights on Tuesdays featured discount tequila drinks including margaritas and mexican martinis featuring a variety of tequila options. The guacamole is amazing. We usually dine inside although there is a large patio outside where a lot of families with kids go. There is a large playing field outside for the kids with lots of balls to play with. The patio can get kinda rowdy with all the families/kids. Usually not long waits.

if you want a quiet setting ask for inside seating, if you have children, head to the back where children can play and you can eat. I always order the pork chop, never disappointed, usually cannot finish it and have another meal at home.

This is a perfect spot for adult family dinners. It's not Tex-Mex: you'll find an enchilada, but not a burrito. There's more originality to the entrees and they all seem quite good. I had the Pollo Palomino dinner, which was grilled chicken covered with a poblano cream sauce. Makes my mouth water just remembering (part of that may be the chicken would be considered, by some, to be a tad salty). The cilantro lime rice was good, not exceptional. My wife had the Anaheim Chicken Salad. She was very pleased overall, though complained that the "grape tomatoes" consisted of one grape tomato cut into 4 or 5 wedges. I can't speak for the other three meals in our party, except to say that everyone enjoyed their meal and we'll definitely return. The wait staff was courteous and prompt and did a great job of remembering which of the five meals went where without having to spit their name over them trying to figure out who had what. Since it's not Tex-Mex, expect a little larger bill.

We were there at Verde's with about 40 people. Hot night and we sat on patio which was fine because all the kids got to play outside in the backyard. Don't even remember the food because there was so much noise and chaos. I think it was good

We arrived and got our name on the wait list...they told us 10-15 minutes. For the next hour, they kept telling us “15 more minutes”. We finally go a table near an open door...cold outside and kids running by bumping into our table. When I asked the hostess if we could push a couple of tables together (away from the door), she got mouthy with me. That was it....they’ll never have me back as a customer. Our waitress was outstanding and understood what we had been through to that point. She went above and beyond to take care of us. The food was really good too, but we won’t visit this restaurant again. I could forgive the wait...but won’t tolerate that smarta$$ employee.

Every time we visit, we are welcomed and feel at home. We have never had a bad meal and the service is fantastic. Our kid loves the outside lawn and my husband loves the Mexican margarita. Wine list is thorough and interesting. The fresh fish dishes have never disappointed. Gotta try this place if you are in the area. Worth the drive if you are not.

Service is always good. Great food and drink menu. Really nice kid area and playground. Best Mexican food in the area. Provides a really nice unique experience.

It has been some time since we have eaten here. It is a very popular venue that can be crowded at meal times. However, we got home late Friday and wanted some good food--we braved the crowds (and very full parking lot) to get a great dinner. This is far from your "typical" tex mex food that you can get at any site in the area. The best way to describe the food is that it is Mexico City style--fine dining with a little French touch to it. The taste is wonderful and the presentation decent. The service is good and friendly. There are two dining areas. The inside area is air conditioned and more comfortable than the covered back area. There are fans in the back, but it can get very hot and sticky. The back is used by parents to watch their kids on the huge playground. It is always crowded with familes because it is so kid friendly. This is a fine restaurant that should come up at the top of the area list. If you are looking for something different at a reasonable price, this is it!

Upscale Tex Mex, an absolute find! It was the best dinner we had in the 4 days there. They have a great outdoor seating with lots of fans , service was awesome and food exceptional.

The word is out, as this restaurant is generally packed. It's upscale Mexican food and ritas have become very popular. They have great tequila for their ritas, and you won't need many b/c they're strong. The hot sauce is really good, and so is the bacon wrapped quail. I've also had various fish plates here, and they're always good. For families, this restaurant is a win, as there is a large backyard (maybe 1acre completely fenced in w/ lots of things for the kids to do. Prices are in the mid to high range for Mexican.

Verdes is my favorite place to take family and friends when they visit, and just to pop in for a date with the hubby! They have inventive, high-quality food that is fairly priced (I love the Pollo Palomino), not to mention some of the best margaritas in town and definitely one of the most buzzed-about quesos! Mmmm! I always look forward to my next visit. If you do not live in the area, but are visiting Hamilton Pool or the Dripping Springs Wine Trail, I highly recommend making a pit stop!

Restaurant was practically empty on a Friday night, which should have been our first clue. Service was okay. Quail appetizer was very good. Food was served luke-warm. Small pour on the wine by the glass. Atmosphere is just okay.

A calamity of errors had me finding myself at Verdes Mexican Parilla in Round Rock. Had no idea I had walked into this place, as it was raining and we ran in... I thought it was a grill that use to be there. We had just returned from a week in Mexico, so I wasn't going to stay. The manager overheard me telling this to the waitress and he walked over and told us about some of the menu items and asked us to stay and try it. We did, and were very happy with it. The del mar linguine was packed with mussels and was wonderful. And the Chili ala Parrillo was outstanding as well. Wonderful service from Haley, and the manager checked in on us numerous times. We will go back!

Even though my hubby and I enjoy the happy hour mostly at the bar we have hosted a large Valentines Day gathering perfectly. Lots of choices in seating and easy to plan your time there in whatever way you wish! Hubby ALWAYS has the app quail and I ALWAYS enjoy the bacon wrapped shrimp app perfectly portioned for me. Tasty chips and salsa and a tall adult beverage has done the trick for us a dozen times! So lucky for us it's in the neighborhood. Friendly ownership and excellent service-good job bartender Jenna,

We had the fortunate opportunity to hire Verdes Mexican Parilla as our caterer for a rehearsal dinner held at the Mercer Street Dance Hall in Dripping Springs Texas this past weekend. We cannot express enough how well the food was made, presented, served and packaged for us after the rehearsal dinner. We feed 108 people including children Fajitas with all the fixings and sopapias for dessert. We received lots of great compliments on the food! Additional note, we dealt with Alanna, who throughout the entire process was timely with return phone calls, billing and very helpful in suggestion great food tips for the dinner. Highly recommend! They are local and easily found via google.

The chicken azul was delicious and the al dente green beans quite tasty. Not your ordinary mexican food. Everyone at our table (all 10 of us) thought the food was fantastic.

The question is very good and the pork enchiladas are great. Reasonable price and the interior has some fun art. Service was really good.

Tried them again and it was awful. Stale green chips, watered down margaritas a tons of screaming kids running around unchecked on the patio. The staff seems inept and all of our food was cold.

This is really a great restaurant to try if you are wanting interior mexican food. They have a great menu to please just about everyone. My favorite is their Vegetarian Enchaladas, my company had Fajitas and Beef Enchaladas. Very consistant. This was my 2nd trip & I would come back again.

Our order to go had everything as ordered with all the extras we could possibly need. Husband loved the quail- said he finally found a restaurant that served them tender. He also liked the ribeye- it was prepared just as he ordered. My ensalada verde was very fresh and the vinagrette was perfect for the salad. The mashed potatoes were yummy (and real). Our extended family of about 40 had dined here a couple of months ago and the food was good then as well. We called a week or so in advance and they did advise us on their least crowded times on the weekend. The service was fine, but it is loud. Our entire party all agreed the mexican dishes were not as good as the rest of the menu- but even those were well prepared. Most of the menu seems reasonable for what you get, but the mexican plates seemed high. Would probably dine there more if location was convenient. This place has changed a couple of times in the last ten years- was Alpenhoff's (can't remember exact spelling) and then Mikeska's. The place still has a very large outdoor seating area in the back.

I've lived in this area my entire life and have tried every restaurant that has come and gone, but this by far is one of my two favorite places in Austin. I don't get a lot of the hype of these other Mexican restaurants (remember I've lived here since birth so I have obviously been to a lot of places). Don't get me wrong some are pretty good but this place takes the cake...or shall I say enchilada. The food is REAL food, none of that from a can nonsense you will find elsewhere. Sit inside if you're wanting to dine in quiet but if you have kiddos may I suggest sitting outside in the back. Though there is no playscape, what you will find is a nice enclosed field where children of all ages are running around and playing together while the parents watch while sitting on the patio and dining. I've read some reviews where a couple of people have complained about having to wait but I go there all of the time and never have to wait. It's all about the timing. If you go on a Saturday at 7 when all of Lakeway and Dripping Springs is also wanting to have dinner, you'll probably have to wait as you would any other good restaurant in town. But if you go a little earlier or later or try another day then you really shouldn't have a problem. We like the queso, enchiladas, pollo verde, lamb chops....I could keep going but I'll stop there. Enjoy!

The menu here is a first rate continental menu. While there are many Mexican specialties on the menu, in a town chock full of Mexican restaurants, identifying as Mexican doesn't really do them justice. I had the duck which was outstanding! Others at the table had Chicken Osso Bucco (yes I said chicken), Mega Pork Chop and seered Salmon. See what I mean? Not a taco to be had! All said, a very popular restaurant, but Mexican... not so much and I was happy for it.

We have always liked this restaurant because ir really is more of a "Mexico City" style of cooking vs. Tex-Mex. There is a real elegance to the food and the preparation (they have a 1,200 degree stove that seals in the moisture of the chicken that is unbelievable) is clearly a cut above what you get in a typical roadside Mexican restaurant. However, we have not stopped in here lately because the local crowd (with lots of kids) can be a little too much for the limited parking area. On a Friday night, the place can be a zoo. However, our friends wanted some good Mexican food and we assured them that this is the best around! On a Tuesday night, I knew that the crow would be slim and the place more normal. It was very restrained and friendly--with no extraneous noise. As always, the service was excellent--they do a good job of hiring & training new staff! We were going to have a full meal, but we ended up having a bunch os the appetizers at incredible happy hour prices. By the time we finished with the beef tacos, the bacon wrapped shrimp and the fish tacos (this is an entree item, but it makes a great appetizer, at full price) we were too full to continue on--the beer and wine certainly helped. The ambiance is getting better over time. It still could use a little inspired art direction, but we really do like the atmosphere in the main dining room. The "outside" area is really an enclosed room that allows the parents to keep an eye on the kids playing outside. It is a very casual area and not really to our liking, but it works for the family crowd.

We live at the other end of town, and have eaten at Verde's a couple of times now. Each time it has been outstanding! On our most recent visit, we started with the queso verde appetizer, which is a surprisingly nice change from the usual queso you find at most places (although they do offer the usual version too). The queso verde is "made green" with roasted tomatillos, poblano peppers, and hearts of palm (trust me, they are yummy!). Sliced toasted bread served with parmesan on top serves as your vehicle to take this warm cheesy sauce to your mouth. I followed with the wedge salad, which was good too. They add tomatillo to the creamy blue cheese dressing and the bacon was crispy and the tomatoes flavorful. Only $3 extra when you order an entree, which is a reasonable price in my opinion. Our entrees consisted of bacon wrapped shrimp (my wife said it was excellent) and a filet, which was well seasoned and cooked as ordered. Both plates came with the vegetable of the day which was corn, seasoned with a chipotle sauce. That corn was really good! For dessert we had sopapillas. Our waiter said that the bread pudding is their most popular dessert, but it was sold out. The sopapillas were good. Our waiter kept on top of us and moved the meal at a good pace. Very good service overall. My margarita was good too. We used a Groupon on this particular visit, which included the appetizer, two entrees, and dessert. It took our $86 bill down to $18, which was a great deal in my opinion. We would go back even without the Groupon, though. This generally isn't the kind of place you stumble on, and the building has been many things over the years. Hopefully they continue to maintain this standard.

We very much enjoyed the food! I had chicken Enchiladas that were done a little different than the usual rolled tortillas. Had a sauce on them that was awesome! They have a large patio area in the back with ceiling fans. Beyond the patio is a large area where children can play and run around while the grownups finish their meal. The service was kind of slow, but I would definitely go back if I got the chance!

My wife and I have gone to the Verdes location in Round Rock many times and have always enjoyed it until last Friday. Both of us had a chicken dish and got terribly sick. It's been now more than 24 hours and we are both still sitting on the toilet several times an hour. I let them know through their website but got no response.

Was sent there by a local for good Mexican food...but really exceeded our expectations. This is not just another Tex-Mex place. Much more authentic, excellent flavors, more unusual dishes. Even the Queso was white cheese rather than the standard plastic yellow variety.....Beef tostados were great, guacamole excellent and the enchiladas are served flat, not rolled. Great meal!!!

It was June in Texas and fairly warm, but we sat outside anyway. It is covered and has fans on, which while cooling you down can be loud. That was the only negative. For kids, there is a large play area. Do not expect swings and slides, rather a large lawn area where they can run and blow off steam. As for the menu, it is creative and interesting. Do not expect your typical TexMex, rather Mexican with a twist. I enjoyed the Pork Pastor while my wife had the chicken enchiladas. Both featured tasty sauces with the sauce pairing well with the pineapple and pork. If you want to try something a little different than the usual TexMex, give this a try. And yes, the parking lot can fill up as the locals know this is a great restaurant. Just go on in and have a house specialty cocktail and wait.

I've eaten dinner here a few times. The last time, the meal wasn't great so we haven't been back. Went for Happy Hour yesterday and while the cocktails were OK, the food was terrible. We had two orders of bacon wrapped shrimp and they were so salty that I couldn't eat them. The rest of the appetizers we also extremely salty. All five of us went home and felt ill.

Halfway between Bee Caves and Dripping Springs on Ranch Road 12 is a nice place to find a very nice Mexican Food Restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly hostess that took us out to the covered back patio. A Spring Texas Rain front was moving in and the atmosphere could have been bad but instead we got to experience the hard rain in complete comfort. Our waiter was promptly asking for drink orders and promptly returning with them. I had the Carne Asada, a nicely done 7oz tenderloin with peppercorn suace with rice and green beans. My wife had the Pollo Ala Parrilla which was an 8 oz grilled, tender and juicy, chicken breast served with poblano mashed potatoes and vegetable of the day. The service was excellent, the food was extremely tasty and was fairly priced for a portion that was just the right size. We will continue to make this one of our options when we dine out in the Hill Country. Dining out on the patio is usually very nice even with the extremes of weather that we've had this spring. The wind could have been a challenge that day, but was held in check by the sets of wind curtains installed around the structure. All in all a very nice outing.

We have had the pleasure to eat at Verdes several times in the last several months. The food is excellent and the waitstaff really knows "their stuff". We can especially recommend their Pollo Osobucco and probably the best Carne Asada that we have tasted. This isn't the place for a budget minded, Tex-Mex fix,but it certainly provides an excellent option to such fare. The decor is that of your basic Mexican food establishment, but the food far exceeds the standard Mexican food found in this area.

We recently visited Verdes with our daughter and future son-in-law. The food was amazing, the staff absolutely accomodating, and Thomas was the ultimate manager, ensuring we experienced the best of the best! It was an amazing finale to our Austin visit!

This place was great. The menu was standard familiar comfort mexican food, but with a delicious twist. The ancho cream sauce over my carne asado was the big hit at the table, but everyone loved their food. For tequila lovers, this is the place to go. They feature the top 100 Tequilasquilas from Mexico, and the server we had and the GM both seemed very knowledgeable about the different options. They also have plenty of draft beers, as well as bottled beers and wine, and a full bar.

We went to Verde's about two years ago and were quite disappointed, but we decided to give it another shot and are glad we did. The food, drinks and service were wonderful. I had the stuffed quail.... grilled and quite tasty. The margaritas were also good and not too sweet.

The food was excellent, the service very prompt and attentive, very cold craft beer on tap and the prices were very reasonable. The poblano cream sauce dishes were wonderful. The blueberry bread pudding was perfect. The decor has been improved and the atmosphere was festive and crowded to just the right degree. We shall return soon.

My first visit to Verdes in 2013 was awesome. I went there based on great feedback on the restaurant from friends in Austin. Great food, good service, pleasant experience. My following visits there were usually similar until the beginning of 2015. All of a sudden, there were challenges in some aspect of the experience. At first I thought maybe there were staffing challenges on some nights or perhaps they had changed the kitchen staff. We kept coming back expecting things to get better but kept getting more and more disappointed and strange things began to happen. The menu had. "wagyu beef" item on the menu that the restaurant manager admitted to us wasn't really wagyu. He explained that they just hadn't updated the printed menu yet. Customers were being over served alcohol on a regular basis. On one occasion, we witnessed the manager serving tequila shots to a group of his friends allowing his guests to take the bottle and pour their own shots at the table. On another occasion, a guest near us got into a loud verbal argument with his wife, in front of their kids, obviously drunk, get served another drink at the bar inside. The scary thing was he was going to drive the family home after all that! The last visit to Verdes in September was to have a drink and see if anything had changed. It was a slow night and we ordered a couple of Margaitas on the rocks. When the bartender had to ask her manager how to make a Margaita on the rocks, we laughed then left never to return.

This place has a cool atmosphere and a huge playground in the back that is fenced in you can literally let your kids run and you can eat on the outdoor patio which is closed in with clear curtains and they have heaters on in the winter I would strongly advise to order the bacon-wrapped quail.

Love this place! My favorite dish is the poblano chicken, but I've also tried the salads, the quail app, and a few other dishes and have never been disappointed. Also, there's a huge yard to be seen by the patio (it's a huge patio) where the kids can go outside and play - kick around a soccer ball, etc. Great place - especially for families.

Took my family here for the first time today and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We all had chicken enchiladas and they were very pleasantly surprised: lime cilantro rice was the perfect complement to the enchiladas and the delicious pepper sauce (not too spicy). The bacon wrapped quail appetizer was outstanding! Next time, we'll try more of that and their pork chop, which we hear is a top seller. Great to have other options beyond Chuy's and Lupe's. We'll be back!

Good quality food, drinks, and service. Excellent prices on appetizers and drinks at happy hour. Traditional dishes made with flair, grilled choices , duck was great, are different and tasty. Good go to place.

Talk about a love-hate relationship with a restaurant. I have had some of the best Tex-Mex food of all time from this restaurant. I have also had some of the worst customer service experiences of all time. So, I guess the compromise is to keep a menu at home, and call ahead for take out! Verde's was an ABSOLUTE ZOO the last time I was there. We were seated on the patio out back, which is kind of a indoor-outdoor affair with a roof over your head by wide open to the elements - including a huge open field of dust and dry grass where about a hundred ankle-biters were ripping around playing a half-dozen different ball games, kicking up a sh|tstorm of dust and dirt and a cacophony of shrieking sound effects guaranteed to set your teeth on edge. The first thing I had to do was find a waiter and ask him to clean up the food off the floor where we were sitting. Things only got worse as more and more people jammed in, more and more kids were added to the shrieking mix, and the noise level under the tent-like ceiling got louder and louder. Then came the drink service. You would think that a place that touts a dozen varieties of high end, pricey tequila might know how to make a margarita, but no. WORST MARGARITA EVER. They must really be trying to max their cashflow on the bar and squeeze as many shots out of a bottle as possible, because I couldn't even taste the pricey tequila in my drink. I ordered another, but basically had to have the waiter write down the directions for how to make a margarita. GOOD GRIEF! Even then, with allegedly two shots of Patron and a float of Grand Marnier, I could barely taste the liquor! We ended up running away and retreating to the bar, where we ordered take out. The waiter was sympathetic, the food came quickly, and we were out the door to go home and enjoy the food in a sane environment. Awesome chile dishes, including their signature chile parilla - a thin steak wrapped around a chile rellono, smothered in a creamy chipotle sauce. Outstanding! Verdes. I love it! I hate it! AAAAAARRRGGGG!!

My husband's favorite dish from Verde's, Bacon-wrapped Quail, came to the table overcooked. Not only did the server express genuine concern at our disappointment with the dish, the manager brought an entirely new plate AND and didn't charge for the original one! The service here is always friendly, and this is a proof that customer satisfaction is a top priority at this bustling little restaurant out in the country.

Not sure what I like most on the menu as it is all good! I recommend the pork chop, duck or salmon. But everything is good. The salmon is the best I have had anywhere and I have traveled a lot and tried it all over. I think it's the grilling flavor at this place. They also have roasted corn as a side and it is out of the world with flavor! One of the best things that they have had here in the past is their chilie rellenos. I don't think that they have it on the menu anymore but I know that you could still request it from time to time. So good. They have a great outdoor patio area for eating. Check this place out - you will be glad that you did!

Bottom line: AMAZING catering service! 100% recommend for delicious food and professional, family oriented service :) Alanna and her husband (the head chef!) were amazing from the start to the finish of my wedding. We first heard about Verde’s at the open house for our venue, the Greenhouse at Driftwood (also amazing) and their appetizers were INSANELY delicious. My now husband was FULL when we left because he kept going back for more! We explored our options with other caterers, but for the presentation, taste, and price, Verde’s blew other caterers out of the water. They offer tastings at their restaurant and EVERYTHING, literally everything is so good that you will have a hard time deciding what to choose. Not to mention the drinks. You’ll leave full and perhaps a little overwhelmed at the great choices of entrees and sides. I also loved the personal connection that Alanna strives to have with her clients. She was happy to adjust any details on the invoice as they came up, and was very responsive to any calls or emails, even when she was super busy on jobs. She offered advice when I needed it, and was just on it all the time. Get this: AT THE WEDDING when some of the liquor went out SHE WENT AND GOT MORE. Talk about a LIFE. SAVER!!!! BEST OF ALL, Verde’s provided amazing staff who are willing to help you out in any way that they know how. They set up the tables, tablecloths, place settings, AND even some decorations just to help out. I could not have asked for better service. After the wedding MANY of my guests commented on house DELICIOUS the food was! I would recommend Verde’s to any and all of my friends getting married in Central Texas and I plan to visit their restaurant anytime I head back into town!!! Bottom line: delicious food, amazing owners, great service staff, and unbeatable prices. You can’t get better than this! I would choose them again and again - and if you do you will not regret it.

We're regular customers and food is always consistently delicious. However, quality of drinks and service is not consistent. Mgmt does not seem to monitor holidays or other special events in the area to have adequate staff or ingredients on hand. This results in extreme waiting periods and varying quality of mixed drinks. Tonight the Mexican martinis took forever and they were out of the lids/strainers on the shakers, and the meal was terribly delayed (my dad was ready to walk out) yet we've seen the place busier on Fridays and Saturdays with no delays. It's a holiday weekend with Presidents' Day but Mgmt missed this somehow for staffing and ingredients tonight. On another recent visit a big festival was in the area that Mgmt didn't plan for and the same problems occurred.
Best kept secret!
Living right down the road, be aware this is not your traditional Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant. No tacos or enchiladas--better!! Stuffed chicken breasts, pepper-stuffed and bacon-wrapped shrimp, pork chops, lamb, quail, etc. Friendly small town staff, lots of regulars and great food for the price. Try the Mexican Martinis and mojitos. Ask Chef Cody about catering! Let the kids run around the back yard.
