We traveled from Manhattan to eat at this place in Brooklyn

By richardallan2016 |

This is a 1/4 eat-in pizza place and a 3/4 comfortable Italian restaurant with cotton napkins and full bar. My problem with this restaurant is there is so much --please order me stuff you want NOW--on the menu it difficult to order and not over order. So my wife and I never order the same set of dishes so we can share a wide variety. We drove from Manhattan to eat two evenings ago: the garlic bread with parmigiana, calamari fritti, zuppa di mussel, seafood salad. Large portions (all these were appetizers) and we had no room for anything else. The seafood salad was fresh and marvelous as was everything else!! Their Italian cheese cake was too dry for my taste. Our waiter was nice, attentive and just what you would want.

Ok pizza

By cruehd |

Had the regular and a square as well. I got lucky and both the round and square were hot and fresh from the oven. The regular had more taste. Not enough sauce on the square. The square definitely needs more flavor/sauce.

Best pizza in bay ridge!

By James O |

I live in bay ridge for 10 years and used to cut my hair across the street at Albert/Irene barbershop. Every time I used to come for a cut and stop by for two slices of grandma or fresh mozzarella. Nice Italian atmosphere with Italian music playing. Family run and very traditional. They host birthdays, weddings, sweet 16s etc

Best pizza in Brooklyn

By Andybayridge |

Delicious pizza. Thin crust pizza is incredible. Reasonably priced. You can dine in a relaxed atmosphere or do fast and easy takeout. Deliver is fast and reliable.

Much better when you dine in.

By Sunset92 |

I love to have dinner at Vesuvio's, the food is always great. My last two orders have been delivery and I honestly felt that there was much to be desired. The food just wasn't nearly as good as dinning in.

Good Food, Friendly Service

By Sydney W |

Authentic Italian food. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious and the offers great service.

Not extraordinary

By E S |

Pizza is mediocre. I have never sat down and eaten there, so I have no experience of the on-site service. I have picked up from there, and so can comment on the ambiance. It is basically pizzeria ambiance very slightly upgraded. Other dishes are ok, their tonmatoe sauce is very pedestrian. In an italian neighborhood it should be much better!!!

Pizza party!

By ALIONE1 |

Nice casual pizzeria/restaurant to have lunch and family gatherings. Friendly staff and good salad and pizza. My first time here but will return..good luck finding a parking spot but worth the wait for one.

Great Italian food on 3rd avenue bayridge

By Allan S |

Great pizza. And broccoli rabe with sausage and cavstrlli our favorites and other terrific dishes. The only issue is right parking but around the block is the church parking lot and that works. Their heroes are also a big hit and highly recommend the whole menu. Lots of garlic

decent, local Italian food

By wendy w |

I grew up on Vesuvio's pizza back when Teresa was still working! The place has grown over the years and it's a lot more than a pizza place. The food is good, the prices are good and you can usually get a table. Definitely a Bay Ridge staple!

Good brick oven pizza and Italian fare

By DrKatieRN |

This is a great eat in restaurant for families. The pizza is very good. It's served on high platforms on the table. The ravioli, lasagna, & spaghetti are great too.

Fantastic Pizza

By Cristina V |

I highly recommend eating here! Went in today with my family and had amazing pizza!! Very fresh ingredients, dough tastes homemade, and very generous with toppings. Service was really great as well and made the meal that much more enjoyable. Servers were very accommodating and friendly. Love it here and will be back on my next visit to New York for sure!

Very good!

By Sunset92 |

My husband took my to Vesuvio's for the first time this weekend. This is a nice restaurant. There is a pizzeria on one side and a restaurant on the other side There are tables and booths to choose from. They even have a party room in the back for large groups. The food was great! Our waiter was very attentive. I can't wait to go back. The next time we will go as a family.

Great stop in brooklyn!

By Daniel D |

We’re new to Brooklyn and heard of this place recommended by someone so we tried it out. Very elegant yet they have pizza delivery! Great high class service food was fantastic! Prices were great! The seafood pasta which had shrimp lobster tail scallops and clams was 26 bucks. You can’t beat that! I would highly recommend! Pizza was great as well.

SoSo

There are so many better pizzerias in Bay Ridge. Their pizza tastes like chese on cardboard and the crust can crack a tooth. Plus yhey are overpriced.

Was A Great Sicilian Pizza Until The Last Visit

By DiningWithWolfs |

We had been here several times, and enjoyed the food very much. The last time we went here we were disappointed by the Sicilian Pie. Before that, it was absolutely delicious, not salty at all as some have mentioned, and the pie was dripping with the most wonderful creamy stretchy melted mozzarella cheese that stretched a foot when separating slices from the pie. That was when we first went there, and it was consistent for about 4 trips. Last time we went which was almost a year ago, and which is why we didn't go back, they had changed to some sort of cheap mozzarella cheese for the pizza. It was skimpy too, there was barely any on the pie at all and it came off with a bite all in one piece, not soft, or melted and creamy at all. Don't know what happened, but that was enough to turn us off permanently from returning. How could it go from so rich with melting piles of cheese, to a below average hard cheap fake cheese that was like leather, especially after it cooled off?? I certainly hope it was a fluke, but be aware of the possibility. So disappointing that we'll never return, and we always got it when we went there. I am a Sicilian pie fan, have had many, and was shocked how it went so downhill suddenly. My family doesn't normally eat Sicilian slices as I do, and even they wanted to get it each time when it was great. WAS is the operative word. I do recommend their tortellini with whatever sauce you like. They're large, and filled with delicious plentiful tasty nice textured seasoned cheese, and really excellent. Their Caesar salad is quite good too, large enough for two, with lot's of shaved parmesan cheese that's delicious, and a good clean tasting dressing. The goat cheese salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing is also quite a good tasty salad, but not enough goat cheese is included. Even when you ask for extra and pay for it, you don't really get it. So many places are stingy with their cheese on goat cheese salad, like it's gold or something. Please do not get their red clam sauce whatever you do, I ordered linguine with red clam sauce and it was so salty, beyond inedible, and it had to be returned. Horrible, and quite honestly, Progresso, Bumblebee and Rienzi store bought canned red clam sauce is far better than theirs. I like rolls, so I tried my favorite, the broccoli roll. Unfortunately, their broccoli roll lacks flavor, kind of lackluster and tasteless. This places loses an extra star for having ONE bathroom for ladies, I really hate when restaurants expect people to deal with waiting to use a bathroom. We are not home folks, people at home even have 2 bathrooms. I don't really like facing a locked door and a person who decides to move in and stay, causing me to keep going back to my seat for my turn and try to look and see if the person has emerged, that really annoys me. Not that outstanding that we're going back anytime soon, once turned off, there are too many places to discover out there, to bother going back again after being disappointed.

Best Italian take-out in...

Best Italian take-out in Bay Ridge. I highly recommend the pasta dishes and the chicken semi fredo.

A bay ridge favorite

By Jackie_JDM |

When I'm in the neighborhood I try to stop by for something from vesuvio, where I moved to there aren't many places that get it right every time the way vesuvio does. They have an extensive take out and dine in menu. Professional and courteous staff Clean Spacious Family oriented They have a private room for events if needed to book I have had many different types of food from them and some favorites repeatedly and it is always made well and with same style. A great place for friends and family or a solo trip when in bay ridge Brooklyn! Conveniently located.

Baby shower

By Rosaria M |

I was just their yesterday my friend baby shower was held their and I cant even begin to tell you how pleased I I'm with everything the staff did for us and the manager Giuseppe leading the party snd making sure the all place was running great, he also did a good job with the cake my guest at the party couldn't stop talking about how good the food was and fresh.I glad I choice Vesuvio to cater my party

Nothing fancy just good food

By Anna911 |

A friend that I was meeting up wth recommended this restaurant and stated it was nothing fancy, just good food. I have to agree. There is a nice dining room but it was full when we arrived. We were directed to sit in the most casual section where customers dine on food from the counter until a table was ready. Rather than wait for one to empty they set tables in another section of the restaurant for us and a few others. Stylistically it fell somewhere between the take out and fancier sections. The food was classic New York Italian. Don't be fooled by the online menu, which seems to be only the express lunch. They have tons of options. We ordered 3 very different dishes between is and all went home quite satisfied. The only warning is that the personal pizza serves at least 2.

Pairing Food and Service

By AdamBrooklyn |

Vesuvio a great example of consisitency of taste and service.I dine out often ,and every time I find my self in Brooklyn I choose vesuvio for two raisons at least :food is very tasty and their liberal portion pairing that with a great service. The Manager was warm host he shook my hand which is not really often in NY Restaurant ,I was watching him mastering his team with care and proffessionalism.I ordered Fettucine Rusitca excellent dish of pasta sun-dried tomato, spinach ,grilled chicken...its an A ++.I highly recommend Vesuvio where people they care for your satisfaction.

Worth the wait

By Joey C |

I feel like this place has been here forever and the people that come to it are the ones that have been coming regularly since they open. I don’t know if that’s true but that’s kinda the vibe I felt. The server and manager seemed to know everyone. I dined here with my husband yesterday after trying to find a good chicken Parma. Coincidentally when we walked by someone had ordered one and it looked amazing. I won’t lie, the service was slow, however that’s the only negative thing I have to say about this place. To be honest, there weren’t that many servers working, and I knew that going in. They were doing the beat they could and that was good enough for me. Anyway, about what I devoured—firstly I really wanted a Bloody Mary but they didn’t have one on the menu. They made one anyway and I’m pretty sure they just added vodka to their tomato sauce. I don’t know if that makes it sound good or bad, but it was SO flavorful! Not strong, but really good! Eventually we got bread. I will think about this bread every day until I die. The Caesar salad was wonderful. The calamari was alright too. But the main stars here are the entrees. I had a pasta dish that was made with homemade pasta, shrimp, prosciutto, and cream sauce. It was probably the best pasta I’ve eaten since I went to Italy. Highly recommend it. And splurge the extra $2 for fresh pasta because it’s worth a lot more than that. I will also be thinking about this every day until I die That chicken parma that my husband was craving also didn’t disappoint. It was a huge serving and coved in amazing sauce and cheese. We both took a huge amount of food home so I was pretty excited about getting to eat it all again. I honestly couldn’t even wait until I was hungry again. This is why I will never lose weight, but I digress. If you are in the area and find yourself wanting some Italian food. Go here. They also have pizza and you can order pizza by the slice. That really surprised me because you wouldn’t expect a place that slings slices would have so amazing food. I didn’t try the pizza but it looked really really good. And that’s kinda hard to find in this part of Brooklyn

Very good Italian food. Serving sizes are good, but I would say it is a little to expensive for what you are getting. For the price, you would think you were getting the best food, and it is good, it just isn't the best

Always wonderful

By Sunset92 |

My family loves to dine here. The staff is very nice and the quality of the food is superb. They have a pizzeria on one side and the restaurant next door. They even have a seating area in the back for parties.

Good But Inconsistent Quality Needs Improvement Here.

By DiningWithWolfs |

We recently went back to Vesuvio for the first time in awhile, and the food and service was very good. This is a nice place in Bay Ridge with a good assortment of Italian food. The place has a main section you walk into with booths, then on the right is the dining room. Atmosphere is decent, nothing outstanding. Chairs and tables, nothing that comfortable. The service was pleasant, average. The waiter came quickly once we were seated. Food was served in a timely manner. I started with Eggplant Rollatini, which was delicious and fresh. The eggplant was done the right way, as if eggplant isn't done enough, it tastes literally like a plant and is hard, but this was soft and had nice ricotta filling. We also got minestrone soup, a salad and burrata, all were good. More peppers than I like with the burrata, but if you love red pepper, as you can see, you get plenty. Please Do not get their baked clams, they're literally the size of a nickel. This time I was in the mood for Tortellini, as I had had them previously, and they were home made and delicious. That was last time. They'd been bigger than average size, with good quality cheese filling. This time, they seemed pretty average unfortunately, and not larger than average, like before. They didn't seem home made this time. I was expecting the big home made ones I've gotten in the past, but these seemed mass produced and nothing special. In fact, ones I can buy and prepare at home, are far better. It was tasty, and OK on a whole, but I expected much better than what I got. I wanted what I'd had before, not much to expect. I don't know what happened to the big home made tortellini they used to offer, but this time it sure wasn't the same. I probably should've returned them. I really hate when restaurants are inconsistent. The are often inconsistent here, and hit or miss. That's why we don't come that often. For example, in the past, we've ordered a sicillian pizza pie that was amazing. Literally dripping with, and covered in massive amounts of fabulous fresh gooey cheese that could've stretched to the ceiling. The next time we ordered the same exact pizza, it had only an average amount of cheese, that didn't stretch at all. Totally a different pie. Again, what happened? We haven't ordered the pizza since, and likewise, the same thing with the tortellini, inconsistent. I like to know what to expect, so while the food is good in general, if you have your heart set on something you had liked previously, you may find yourself highly disappointed at some future date, when ordering the same exact item. If you're a fan of pasta, the good thing is that there is an entire pasta section on the menu that you can customize. The list consists of variety of pasta styles to choose from. Once you pick your pasta, then you can choose from a variety of different sauces and styles to have it prepared in, so it really makes ordering easy and the combinations are numerous. You pick the pasta, for example Linguine, and then you pick the name of the preparation like "alfredo, bolognese" ect. I think I would go for something else next time and not a pasta. I have had the linguine with red clam sauce, which was returned because it was so salty, it was inedible. Now I can also scratch the average tortellini off the list. Chicken parmagiana is always good, and was a nice portion, very tasty, got the two thumbs up. The salmon was a nice big piece of fish, perfectly prepared with vegetable garnish, and beautifully presented, so that was a hit too. The bathrooms are 2 singles that double as handicapped as well. One for all, all for one. It's kept pretty clean. If the place is busy, it could be a problem to wait for someone who moved in to stay. Overall, I do like Vesuvio, it's one of Bay Ridge's better Italian dining experiences, which this area has in abundance. However, to remain a go to spot for us, we think they need to work a bit harder on being consistent with their quality, and food preparation. I personally, like to know what to expect in a restaurant, and often will order a favorite. But, a favorite is something as expected for its uniqueness. Nothing can ever become a favorite, if it's always prepared differently.

Delicious and generous portions of pasta and salad with burger

By jaybetty |

We sat down in the spacious restaurant and noticed the dishes being enjoyed by customers sitting at the next table. The pastas we ordered were authentically delicious and generous. My husband ordered a burger and changed the fries for a salad which came in a large portion on a separate plate!! Before hand, we were served home made bread with oil and balsamic vinegar, so irresistable even though I always try to avoid filling myself up with carbs before the real meal deal! Our server Dean was helpful and had a great sense of humor. What a pleasure to dine at this restaurant!

Super delicious food

I had two kinds of pizza and a chicken ceasar salad, food is delicious and stuff is super friendly! Very delicious drinks, especially red wine sangria!

Nice relaxing place to have dinner with friends

Good food, service and drinks. It’s easy to get to and in a busy area. We were a party of 5 and celebrating a special occasion.

A must eat in Brooklyn!

By ApeLC |

Our family with two small boys had dinner here and it was a very pleasant experience! Friendly, helpful staff and amazing food. I had the Veal Semi Freddo and it was cooked perfectly. They accommodated my youngest with a kid friendly pizza and the calamari was not over cooked which is important to me. Please visit Vesuvio when you visit Brooklyn!

Best Italian Take out in...

Best Italian Take out in the Ridge. Buon Gustillo is DELICIOUS. Their pasta dishes are excellent!

Homemade sauce, pasta is outstanding.

Homemade sauce, pasta is outstanding. Went there with friends. The food is outstanding. We had pasta chicken parmigiana and appetizers. Will highly recommend for Italian food lovers.

Always on, never off!

So you want to get a quick bite with the kids after a little league game: Vesuvios You want to take your folks out when they visit: Vesuvios You and your significant other just got a few hours alone when the kids hit the movies: Vesuvios! In other words it's a sure thing and the folks working there and waiting on you make it all the better! My one pet peeve that I'm sure will go against the majority...I really don't like the dinner rolls that put out in the bread basket! Then again I rarely eat the bread so whatever! :)

Delicious and wonderful service, must try!

By NancyBrooklyn |

We left another restaurant because of a long wait and decided to try this little gem. Well to our surprize it was much nicer than the other restaurant and the food was superb and our waiter couldn't have been more attentive to us. We felt like regulars by the end of the meal. Do try the langostini which are little lobster/shrimp like delicacy that melt in your mouth. The prices are fair, and the portion sizes more than ample, I took half of my entre home. We will happily go again and highly recommend this restaurant.

Easter Dinner

By mmarriaa |

My family decided to go out for Easter dinner this year. We saw a menu in the newspaper and decided to make a reservation. We have had pizza and sandwiches from Vesuvio many times but never ate dinner there. We were pleasantly surprised at how pretty the restaurant area is. The servers were very friendly and helpful. We ordered wine and several appetizers which we enjoyed. For the entree I ordered the cavatelli and braciole,my husband ordered Chicken Francese, my daughter ordered Sole Oregenata and my son ordered Chicken Parm with penne. The portions were very large and delicious. We enjoyed our dinners and all agreed that we would come back to Vesuvio for dinner again soon. Thank you for a wonderful Easter Celebration!

Great lunch special and pizza

By ATL-travel71 |

We ate lunch at Vesuvio during the week. My wife had the express lunch which was very good and we ordered a small specialty pizza which ended up being very big. It was all a lot of food with a very reasonable price. It was nice that they had a quick counter ordering area to eat in as well as a nicer sit down service area.

House cleaning treat

By Caren J |

nice casual place to go with family or friends, there is a separate room for groups to enjoy private celebrations; Vesuvio's serves more than just pizza

Restaurant Plus Pizza

By ROBERT I |

Clearly a family and neighborhood place with a nice decor. Nothing fancy about it, but you can be comfortable here with attentive service, good food and reasonable prices. We focused on the pasta dishes. Each one was correctly done with good sauces, sausage and meatballs. This could be my regular place if I lived close enough.

A Bay Ridge Tradition

By Gerard C |

For the past 35 years, Vesuvio's has been the place to go in Bay Ridge for pizza and family style Italian food.

The Best Veal In The Boroughs

By adam r |

Went last night for a business meeting and had veal marsala. It was tge best veal marsala I ever had hands down. It had a slight taste of garlic in the background which helped to make this dish unbelievable. The portions could have been a little bigger though. The calamari was also very good and the red sauce was very good as well.

Good place for a neighborhood visit to chow up at.

By Peter G |

Pizza? Usually very good. Other Italian food? Also very good with tables in another area for dining.

The best Italian food in Bay Ridge!!!!

By MSW625 |

I attended a baby shower in the party room of Vesuvio's last weekend and it was the fabulous!!! The food-from appetizers, to pasta course and the main course-- well each course was better than the next!!! The wait staff was friendly and very attentive, often anticipating our needs. And to find a party room this comfortable and easily accessible was fantastic. Their entire menu is available for takeout. I plan to return often for a taste of the 'old country"!

Asked for water 4 times and never got it.

By Sunset92 |

I have been a costumer at Vesuvio's for a long time. This past weekend a large group of us gathered for a celebration. The food was good but my waiter wasn't. He was one of the older waiters. I asked the him for water four different times. He kept telling me that he would be right back and never got me the water. I understand that we were a large group and he might have more tables, but Four times?

Great Italian food on 3rd avenue bayridge. Not yo be missed, cream great Italian spit.

Good local pizza and eats

By Grumo |

The service here is quick. They are very accomodating when I've come to the restaurant, ordered for one and had a special request. It's an easy place to drop in for a slice or for a sit down meal. The pizza is good to very good. I really like the spaghetti and meatballs. Not shy on portions when I'm in the need for comfort food.

Great pizza

By Deborah D |

I love the pizza at Vesuvio, and it is always my first stop when in Brooklyn. Great place for a quick slice or a delicious entree. Convenient location and great staff. Be sure to try my favorites: the fried calamari or the broccoli rabe.

Surprise Pqrty

By Rnfox |

We had a surprise party here and service was very attentive. The eggplant parmigiana, zucchini and calamari was excellent as well as the pasta. Everyone enjoyed all their meals as well as birthday cake. Salmon.cooked perfectly. The only critique I have is the condition of the “fake wood” floors in which my partner slipped on a mostly non covered area. Several other guests also almost fell. Be very careful.

LUNCH AFTER SHOPPING

By Jack W |

We made two trips into Brooklyn during our stay in Staten Island and during both trips had lunch at Vesuvio’s which is Located on 3rd Avenue, about two blocks east of Bay Ridge. The place in divided into two sections, one for the pizza and quick sandwich for lunch and the other side for those who want to order from the menu and linger over dinner, conversation and drinks. We picked the latter both visits. The menu choices are the typical Italian fare, but the preparation is outstanding. The eggplant and the veal parmesan were both excellent , as was everything else we tasted during our two visits. This is another place that will be on our list for a return visit during our next NYC trip

fantastic pizza

By Heather K |

I had dinner here with a group of colleagues from work. We had appetizers, salad and pizza. The fried mozzarella and zucchini were great, and the salad was fresh with a lot of vegetables and the right amount of dressing. The star of the meal was definitely the pizza. We had thin crust and thick. The thin was definitely the one everyone loved but the thick was delicious as well. The toppings were great and it was probably some of the best Brooklyn pizza we have had. We topped off our meal with tiramisu which was light and not too sweet.

Awful food- 43 Health violation points

By Jerome C |

Our first visit. No health dept Grade in Window. Checked website... 43 violation points, ( a B). Place is attractive and service is very good, but you can't eat atmosphere. Ordered Eggplant Hero. It was a large portion of food, but eggplant was rubbery and under cooked, no seasoning at all, very bland... Red sauce was tasteless. Probably the worst excuse for an Italian Restaurant in more than 50 years! Restaurant was busy... I don't know why. We were there for a Regina Opera performance, so we saw the show and left, never to return.

Great Lunch Special

By Joeylan |

I was working in Brooklyn and needed a place to eat. I found this place on a recommendation from a friend of mine. It was really worth it. For $9.95 they have a great lunch special. I had a salad and a pizzett and a glass of soda. It was worth it. The pizzette which is pizza was on a huge dish. I couldn't even finish all 4 slices they give you. The salad was fresh and delicious. Great location and easy to find parking.

Pretty place for lunch

By jansjourneys |

Son's new neighborhood and when I am there we are trying new places. This was today's lunch choice. A pizza parlor is attached to the restaurant. We picked a table at the window and Ryan was our server. We each had a Peroni (5 each). Son ordered the Tortellini Bolognese. The sauce was very red, to me it didn't look like it had cream in the bolognese and son said it was ok, not great. Me, I ordered the broccoli rabe and sausage sandwich. HUGE sandwich, took more than half home. Very good. Son took half of his home as well. We both thought the bread they put on the table was outstanding. Lunch was 42 w/o the tip added. We would eat here again but son would not get the bolognese.......

Pretty good

By brettnyc |

When we first walked in i thought it was a regular brooklyn pizzeria. But it has nice table seating not just booths.. My seafood pasta was ok .. Linguini over done and calamari was gummy.. Portion size was good, sauce needed a little kick.. Grilled veggy plate wasnt cooked thru . Eggplant was very tough.. The best plate on table was meatballs ans spaghetti , good meat ration. Service was very prompt and friendly.. Not my first choice but would eat there again

Very good Italian Food

By Gardoz |

Vesuvio, is not fancy, but the food is very good. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed. The service is quick and very attentive. I have had their chicken, pasta, pizza, and appetizers all were fresh and portions of good size. The prices for the quality and amount of food are very reasonable. The wine list although small is good and not expensive (It's on a wine bottle that's on every table) different. Highly recommended.

Just great

Neighborhood joint in Bay Ridge. Good plates, good pizza, decent service. Nothing to spend a day planning for, but worth stopping by if you're in the area and want to see some real people.

Good Italian-American Food

By Louise V |

I came to this place with my family for my aunt's surprise 60th birthday party. I wasn't pleasantly surprised. Food was pretty good. Your typical Brooklyn Italian-style food. We started with fried calamari, fried zucchini and salad. All delicious (though I can't judge the calamari since I'm vegetarian). We went onto the first course - our party had a choice of Penne alla Vodka or Penne (veggie) with Tomato & Prosciutto. Also delicious. Our second course was a choice of Salmon, Veal or Chicken but they were kind enough to make me an Eggplant Parm which was delicious. The eggplant was tender and sauce/mozzartlla ratio very good. The wait staff was excellent with everyone being super attentive & friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an Italian family-style restaurant!

Unbelievably fantastic!

By Nann H |

My brother hosted a family dinner at Vesuvio for 16 people on a Saturday night. Every single person in our party of 16 had a fantastic meal. From the appetizers to the after dinner cappuccino (too full for desert), everything was great. The service was wonderful too. If I did not live 4 hours away, I would make Vesuvio a weekly event.

Very good pizza and also a nice place to eat in.Nice dining area with a friendly staff and the catering is also worthy of a try.

Be careful when purchasing gift card.

By Ralph S |

Well my family has been going to Vesuvio for years and on my Aunts 95 birthday I purchased two $50 gift cert. On 9/26 I took my Aunt and brother to eat dinner because she wanted to use the cards. When the bill came I gave them both gift cards. It seems that one of them didn't have any money on it. So we showed them the receipts and they had the nerve to say, how do we know if your aunt didn't used it and just forgot. I said why can't you verify if the card was used instead of saying my Aunt is forgetful. They said we cant verify the card. We had to pay again. Oh and by the way $27. for chicken Parm. :(. Not happy will go elsewhere.

Super Incredible Food..Don' t let the Word Pizza fool You!

By CherinaHirsh |

This is way beyond just a great pizzaria! All the dishes are just delicious and they never stinge on quality. Their assortment of crispy crust pizza is amazing from regular to granny to fochadosa. Their chicken franchaise is crispy and tasty as well. I had shrimp fradiablo that I feel was the best I have ever had. The staff is always eager to please.

Make Sure You're Hungry!

By patsjag28 |

Every time I walk into Vesuvio, I know I'm going to walk out smiling. From the minute you enter and are greeted warmly by the host/hostess, to the time you pay the bill, it's nothing but smiles and great service. I'd been to visit Vesuvio on a few occasions, this time going with my two 20-something sons. Again, we were treated like family. Seated and immediately brought over the warm bread, we were asked if our table was to our liking. How often does that happen? We always ask for olive oil, balsamic vinegar and parmesan cheese for dipping. Our server couldn't have been more accommodating. We ordered the calamari for starters, a favorite at any Italian restaurant for us. It arrived hot and crispy with the usual accompanying marinara sauce. There's a fine line with cooking calamari crispy or cooking it to death, making it rubbery and chewy. Vesuvio hasn't missed yet. Awesome! My younger son having been there with me before, already knew when we entered he was ordering the Lasagna. A HUGE plate with an enormous brick of pasta stuffed with ricotta cheese and smothered in melted mozzarella. Oh man! This was my older son's first visit and he ordered the chicken parmesan. Another plate disappears under the sheer size of the chicken. Pounded thin and tender, breaded and fried crispy on the outside. YUM! I went for the Shrimp Fra Diavolo. Six BIG shrimp were delivered to the table atop a mound of linguini with just the right zip you'd expect from the spicy marinara. Excellent! With all the food, you'd think we'd be beyond ordering dessert, but no! Who could pass up the warm chocolate cake or the carrot cake??? Not my boys! Nice size slice of carrot cake and a warmed melty chocolate cake, like something from heaven covered with vanilla ice cream. Did I say I would be smiling when the bill came? Amazing food for three people, plus 4 beers and a glass of wine, with a 20% tip - just under $100. PLUS leftovers....so really, that's at least another meal per person. Plus the service is superb! You can't find that just anywhere in the New York/ Brooklyn area. If you're ever walking around 7305 3rd Ave, don't pass up Vesuvio and go in with a big appetite!

A NEIGHBORHOOD GEM

I stumbled upon Vesuvio when I my usual place was closed for the holiday. Everything I ordered arrived piping hot and delicious. They are the nicest people, and their food is always fantastic. I highly recommend this place: pasta, antipasto, chicken, fish. You will never be disappointed.

Salty Pizza and a friend loves the Veal Parm...!

This is a good pizzeria. I feel that the pizza is way too salty but some of my friends really love it. One friend alway orders the Veal Parm, he loves it. Def. a great place to go if you want to sit, relax and have a junk filled meal.

Great slice in Bay Ridge

Best slice I have had in Bay Ridge thus far. You can either take out or eat in and it's white linen eat in, which is nice. The employees are very friendly and welcoming as well.

Reviews on trip advisor for this restaurant will not steer you wrong. Excellent service, delicious food, especially the mussell appetizer. We had an excellent meal for four including bottle of wine, appetizers, four meals and three desserts and coffee for under $150.00. This place is worth, worth, worth a visit.

A very nice place to visit.

We hadn't been here in a long time, and were happy when we had the opportunity to visit for dinner. The food was as good as ever, which is to say excellent. From the generous glass of wine to the excellent Caesar salad to a really amazing veal parm sandwich to a perfect tartufo and cappuccino. The service was excellent. Prices are reasonable We couldn't have enjoyed it more! You will too. Hope this is helpful.
