Hidden Gem in the Hills

By RikiUSA |

Just looking for jazz music near the Beverly Hills area and Vibrato Jazz was perfect. The staffers were easy and friendly when we made reservations, our location on the curved lower area was super, and noticeably there isn't a bad table anywhere. Our server was knowledgeable and timed everything perfectly so dinner was out of the way quickly. We usually choose seafood on trips near the coast, but my husband had a delicious filet. Classy venue, with vibrant colors, fabulous art and a crescent-shaped dining area providing cozy, comfortable seating...just what jazz aficionados would expect. We first discovered Vibrato Jazz in October 2015 and returned in March 2016. Visitors, staffers and the performers engaging in this rare, one-on-one experience resulted in everyone having a great time. In October, we saw Michael Lington playing sax, with a surprise onstage duet with guitarist Ray Parker, Jr., who just happened to be in the audience. We have enjoyed fabulous evenings of jazz, fine dining, great wine selections and easy hospitality on both visits. Very highly recommend this venue near the corner of Beverly Glen and Mulholland.

Romantic atmosphere, fantastic food, great jazz combo the night we were there.

Great ambience, excellent drinks and fabulous jazz!

The lobster macaroni and the scallops were amazing! Had a Red Headed Amsterdam cocktail that was out of this world:-) Listened to the soothing, buttery voice of Sherry Williams and will definitely be back. Fabulous evening!

Vibrato Grill For a Special Evening of Jazz

By Sandra K |

My husband and I were visiting LA and I looked up some jazz places. When I saw Herb Albert it caught my eye. It did not disappoint because there were talented musicians supporting Teka, a Brazilian world class artist displaying rhythms through the Watercolors of Brazil. She has been featured in international Jazz Festivals. The pianist added a depth to her harmonies with passion. The service and food were amazing. Very intimate for dinner and music.

So much fun!

I only went to this place to see Frank Stallone's show again, and it's a good time every time. It's a cozy, intimate setting, the show was awesome, and the surf & turf was incredible

Awaken all your senses: Ambience, Food, Service, Music.....Best of the Best!!!

By Ruben Gamerberg |

Been going there since its inception. Always enjoy the great appetizers, wine selection, fish as well as steaks. Desserts are awesome, specially chocolate soufflé. To top that off (along with a beautiful decor) the music is wonderful at each and every occasion. Of course, what else can you expect from Herb Alpert....

Can't believe I just found this gem!

By dawnwtv |

I have searched "jazz club and dinner" a hundred times and then suddenly this place came up. We tried it out and first of all it has been in LA 12 years but secondly it was a great experience! The service was excellent and the food was surprisingly good for a "dinner & show" type place. The entertainment was out of this world and the acoustics where amazing. Great place to enjoy music and a bite to eat!

Classy jazz joint!

By Ray Q |

Tucked into the canyon hills of Bel Air, this supper club venue earns Herb Alpert’s name quite well with a nice menu of diverse food, nice cocktail and impressive wine choices, but best of all, it’s a gorgeous theatrical space that was actually designed for intimate concerts (complete with curved tables and seats that all face the stage). Quite a fun time!

Maggie’s birthday

By dqueen1 |

We planned a night out with the girls for Maggie’s birthday. We all like jazz so I. Found this place on line. It looked very nice and the line up looked good we were surprised. The music was good and the food was very good. This is a nice place for a date night or just with friends. Small and intimate. It was a good choice

Tune into this LA Jazz Club

By Michael P |

The restaurant is in a great location if you live near Studio City, Sherman Oaks Beverly Hills or Belaire otherwise a long haul to get to - BUT it is worth it as the Beverly Glen /Mullholland area is away from it all. No parking problems no crowds - Gotta GO. Where to start - we love the food and the Veal Parm may be in the best in LA- The menu is really classic and fine dinning. Sitting around the stage and the atmosphere is really club like. My wife has had the steak and the fish and loved it each time - Sorry all I eat is veal Parm- just like Billy Crystal in Forget Paris. Wine list was expensive for us so we brought 2 bottle of fine italian Brunello ( corkage was $20) and stayed 2.5 hours. We saw Danny Jenklo who was great on the sax and Mel Torme's son who was equally as good and very entertaining. Yes, it is expensive and yes it can be crowded but all part of experience. The tables are very well situated and can be very romantic along with the mood lighting. This club really works and we are going again - Guest from out of town will flip over the experience.

Mardi gras

By Smarshall487 |

We booked this months in advance as we heard it was a great venue and we were not disappointed! As it was Mardi Gras they had a big band booked, Mudbug, they were excellent! Yes I would agree with others that it is expensive however the food was great quality and the music was great. It is important to note that you CAN only attend for music and drinks you do not have to have a meal. Tiffany was our hostess and she was great. Overall a lovely evening we would recommend!

Fabulous Restaurant near Mulholland Drive

By Jenepat |

We just returned from a trip to California. We only stayed one night in L.A. (Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel), and wanted to check out Mulholland Drive in the evening as the sun was setting. In looking for a restaurant to have dinner at afterwards, we settled on Vibrato Grill, Jazz, etc... - and boy, are we glad we did!!! This restaurant was such a delight! We made reservations (recommended) for 8:00, arrived 15 minutes early & were seated promptly - given our choice of two tables (one near the live musicians, and one a little further back). We made our choice, but really either table would have been great. Service was stellar throughout the night. The food was delicious (I had the NY Strip and my husband got the Filet Mignon - we enjoyed the Strip the most). Sauteed/grilled mushrooms were delicious. And the stacked vegetables were unique & tasty! The whole experience was superb. If you're looking for a place to dine after checking out Mulholland Drive, this is your spot! It made for such a romantic evening!!

Under the stars

The atmosphere was amazing and they did an amazing job and even had music! Food was really good and I highly recommend the tuna tacos. The outdoor bar was really cool looking. The service was little slow but during Covid we give that a pass. Nice date night place!

The Snagged Cab

By major_rawls |

Vibrato was decribed proudly by one of my LA companions, "it's so amazing, it's not like being in LA". This puzzled me and sort of disappointed me, as a visitor and fan of LA I wanted the full on LA experience. Why woul I want to feel like I'm somewhere else? We explored this subject over a very expensive bottle of wine. A live jazz band played on a stage - the restaurant is crafted around a stage set up. The band reminiscent of Django Reinhardt were definitely not LA. The design is more 1930s Paris hence the live jazz element. As for the food it was incredible. I had scallops which were terrific. At times the volume of live music overpowered the conversation, but it wasn't too bad. Just had to lean and shout a little. I asked the waiter for a taxi and then spent half an hour waiting for one. He told me that my cab must have been snagged by someone else. I hadn't realised high brow cab snagging was popular in Beverly Glen. So I waited for another. They make great food here, and offer a non-LA/LA experience. But they can't make gin and tonic. Well the bloke behind the bar when we were there couldn't. Nice area though, The Glen. Only know to locals apparently.

Very good choice for dinner in LA!

By CRISTIAN |

Vibrato Grill Jazz is a very good restaurant if you want to try the experience of dinner and show in LA. Very good program and also service and food. A nice atmosphere. It is a little bit far, because in Bel Air. The restaurant is set around a stage so anyone can share the music experience (very good acustics). It was a good piano jazz night and great food LA experience.

A hidden gem in Beautiful Bel Air - a "must" while in LA

By The_Blonde_Beach |

Seven years ago, my husband and I were in LA visiting from our homeland, Australia. We were seated next to a couple, the gentleman was Pat Senatore - a musician with Herb Alpert (remember Tijuana Brass?). He told us about his new restaurant/bar and invited us to visit. We kept that card for seven years and had the absolute pleasure of being able to fulfill our promise and go to his establishment. What a treat! The service, ambience, food and entertainment was first class. Pat's daughter greeted us warmly and even kissed me goodbye. I told her the story of how we met her father, and that I would never expect him to remember. She said that knowing him, he probably would! My husband and I will be back in LA in a few weeks time and hope to visit Vibrato Bar and Grill again. It's fabulous. I hope you think so too.

Best Jazz in Southern Cali

By edenalpert |

Newest Addition, made to order melt, in your mouth, can't stop eating bread. This place has incredible food and a stunning ambiance. This live jazz super club is unique and built and created by Herb Alpert. There's no place like it with live performers like Seth McFarlane and so many others. The sound is pure perfection. It's an American Grill with Live Jazz every night except on Mondays. This is a destination restaurant that's a must on your list if Visiting LA. It's located in Bel Air. I promise it's a spot you will talk about for years.

Jazz & Great Food, how can you go wrong?

By Jeff H |

A lot of times jazz clubs either have great music and average food or vice versa. Vibrato seems to have gotten it right. Every time I've been there the performers that night have been fantastic. The menu offers something for every taste. Great date place.

Great vibes at Vibrato

By ShortyNoMore |

Had a great time at Vibrato. The food and the music were amazing. The best thing about the joint was actually the other patrons; everyone was there to have a good time and relax.

Love it!

By ashell4u |

This is a wonderful placebo just meet and have a few cocktails or have dinner. It is for sure upscale, the food is a bit pricy but great for a special occasion or good friends! The music is Fabulous and together with the ambience it's one of a kind!! A must experience!!

A decade of memories...

By CenturionMember |

It was in summer 2004 when I first visited this place, and ever since, the Vibrato Grill has been venue to memorable dinners with friends and family. Tonight, Jerry Sharell performed a very touching show, felt almost like a farewell party! I had my usual filet mignon. No wine tonight, had enough yesterday.

Great Jazz & Ambience and Food !

By David K |

Wonderful ambience and great Sound. We saw Ellis Hall who was at the top of his game with a world class band and vocalists Christmas eve and we had a fantastic night. The food was incredible. We were a party of 4 and shared the crudo, the shrimp cocktail, the sliders and the lamb pops which were all outstanding. Then we moved on to the lamb tangine and lobster tagatelle which were both great. The servers were so helpful and friendly and the venue spectacular to hear and see world class Jazz.

Freshest Fare; Stellar Service; Amazing Ambiance!

By Discerning12385 |

Vibrato always shines! Deliciously prepared vegetables, fish and chicken. Always done to perfection. Specials devine and the standards are sublime! You can order a few appetizers as your dinner or choose one of the amazing entrees. How they handle food is miraculous -- bringing out the natural flavors and enhancing the goodness. Love, love, love Vibrato!!!

great music, unique venue

By JackJack6 |

From the outside, you would not expect Vibrato to be much... but once you walk in- wow. You forget you are in a strip mall up in the hills. We chose Vibrato for a ladies night out, all of us being music majors and musicians, we were so excited for our night. We got a great table! Most of the tables have a good view of the stage though, it's an intimate experience. Our server was very attentive is the beginning, pouring our wine for us, checking on us and our food. After that he was not to be found. Granted, it got a little busy but we literally didn't see him until we had to hunt him down for our check- which ended up being incorrect. The music was amazing! We even got to meet the singer who came by our table while she mingled with the crowd. The food was just ok, expensive for what you get. Appetizers- 2 small (I mean small) empanadas for $16? really? All the entrees are also a la carte- any sides you want are extra $. Drinks are also pricey. You are definitely paying for the ambiance and the experience. All and all- I do hope to go back one day. Not for the food but for the show and atmosphere.

Great venue for jazz!

By berniek1949 |

What a pleasant surprise. This restaurant is desinged perfectly for dinning and live entertainment. The horseshoe shaped dining area allows all to have a good view of the stage. The restaurant is hidden away in Bel Air and not easy to get to, but it's well worth the effort. The atmosphere is electric, the food is delicious and the staff was wonderful. Even the valet service was enjoyable. The entertainer that night put on a fantastic show. One word of warning is the price. But get over that and enjoy the whole atmosphere of the place.

Great atmosphere, with very good food. You should experience it once, because how many restaurants do you know that are not only owned by Herb Alpert, but have live jazz performances almost every night? Check the website for artist scheduling if you're particular about your jazz.

Birthday catastrophe

By Vacation17869585153 |

Came for my birthday 7/23/25. The waiter was very attentive to my sister but ignored me. He kept calling us "hon and babe" very unprofessional. The show was good but geared certian guest. I ordered the filet mignon with lobster, the meat was stringy over cooked with gristle in the middle, lobster raw. No one from management bothered to find out why a $150.00 meal was sent back. Will probably never be back. Super disappointed

Music, food, service - all good

By Ossi V |

Being overseas visitors we asked this forum for recommendations to good jazz and blues for adults in metro LA. From the responses we picked this Herb Alpert's Vibrato Grill and Jazz, and we did not regret. We reserved table in advance and were seated in perfect position for the show. The ambience of the venue was very attractive, and the staff provided faultless service. I had a Filet Mignon, she had Lamb Cutlets, both perfecty cooked and presented. Both had mixed green salad and glass of wine, ending with cup of coffee. This did not come cheaply, abt usd 100 pp excl tip. The music was exactly what we wanted, Billy Valentine accompanied by jazz trio (piano, bass, drums) sung soft, nice music. In the pause an unknown lady appeared, probably from the audience, and presented a fantastic version of Whitney Houston hit "I will always love you" resulting an explosion of applause from the crowd. We are not exactly young(in our 70's) but we felt that we fit well into the crowd.

Tee Elliott - Simply the Best!

By Tanya E |

Amazing! Great food/entertainment/service! From the time we arrived, we were greeted and seated immediately! The seats were close to the stage so there was no obstruction of view for the entertainment...really feel there isn’t a bad seat in the house. The music was certainly on Top… it even had some people dancing in the aisle… which is great to see people having a grand time / all on one accord! This place is Simply the best!

Live Jazz and Food...Score!

By CheckInPlease |

Vibrato has outstanding acoustics and a vibrant bar scene for the 35+ crowd. There 's always a live and noted jazz band or solo artist on stage with a show to go with your dinner. Unlike most live music establishments, the food and cocktails here are very, very good. I'm pretty sure they serve the best Tuna Tartare in Los Angeles. The steaks are also outstanding. Call ahead for a booth and be prepared to wait a bit. People love to relax and linger here.

Show and drinks excellent crowd vibe

By Sergio B. |

We went to see a Jazz show there and the sound and artists were great. Awesome decoration, again good vibe. Cons: very pricey, waiters forcing you to spend every 10 minutes. we only watch the show and had a couple of drinks to meet our minimum charge, no food. the drinks could definitely be better. lots of ice, no taste. Also no one told us we could have just sit at the Bar and would not have to pay the minimum charge or the cover charge. we should have been told. Overall a good experience, but I am unsure if I will visit them anytime soon.

Superb Jazz Restaurant

By mini |

Vibrato Jazz in Bel Air is one of those superb gems - its in a way a hidden find as its in a somewhat nondescript small shopping center. Once you enter the door, you know you've found something special. The decor is wonderful; the accoustics superb. From every table you have a wonderful view of the musicians - many of the musicians are world reknown. Herb Alpert is the inspiration and owner of the restaurant and sometimes plays there. WIth such a good music scene, the food is to match. The food is wonderful. We enjoyed very good oysters, warm beet salad, and fish entrees. Desserts are wonderful. Its a place where you can do people watching or come to celebrate a special occasion. The wine list is outstanding and quite good. Vibrato Jazz -a place to go, a place to enjoy, and a place to return to hopefully in the near future.

It's try the lamb chops!

By Westham64 |

Food was great, jazz was only average. The lambs chops were yummy and the cocktails went down very well as well!

Great artists and good

By bigvicSydney |

You have to eat dinner at this jazz club so it’s good to report that the steak we shared was more than good. Outstanding in fact. The pasta dish was just good. We didn’t try anything else but I would recommend you focus on the Meat. But we went there for entertainment and can report that this was excellent. Billy Valentine sang pop classics beautifully with wonderful accompanists. Each one very good. But totally outstanding was saxophonist Jimmy Roberts. I’d go anywhere to hear him. Crowd noise did spoil the show a bit. Recommended

Great food, Great Jazz!

By srarakawa |

Vibrato never seems to disappoint and this is the fourth time I've visited. This time I had a beet salad for starters and a Roquefort Crusted Filet Mignon for a main course. The Roquefort overpowers the filet, but is easily adjusted (scraped off), to balance the flavor. As well, others ordered the Ahi Tuna Loin, Pan Seared Diver Scallops and the soup of the day. A nice French Merlot worked well with all the entrees. Everything was great although the dessert selection is somewhat limited, but very good nevertheless. The music was awesome as ever. The sound is nicely balanced at Vibrato and you don't get fatigue from an early "ear piercing". Louie Beltran was in rare form with some "tasty" conga solos, playing some standards as well as an eclectic selection of his own choosing. The atmosphere is perfect and the place is clean. The staff are quick to please and the prices reasonable for the venue. Basically, this place is a great night out!

Great wine and dine, while listening to Jazz

By Manuel E. Jiménez-Alonso |

Great food Great music I really enjoyed my time there. When going sólo, ask for a seat at the bar. Not a cheap place to go, but worth it

Horrible night

By olosangeles |

So we went there for french chanson night and it was a horrible experience. One can hear that quality of music in any Russian restaurant on any night. Why were charged 30 cover and 20 a drink for a horrible music and horrible food?

Just like the old days!!

Remember having dinner while listening to amazing jazz performers in the old cabaret bars?? This fabulous restaurant is very reminiscent of those days. The jazz talent is incredible and the food is great. Guaranteed to be a fun filled, fabulous evening.

Classy Venue Good Food and Music

By trotter13 |

I really enjoyed my evening at the Vibrato Grill. Thanks for the free valet also. I thought the place was very classy, food tasty and romantic atmosphere. Thought the prices of the food was a little pricy and didnt know I was getting charged for the music until the bill came. Besides that I thought it was a lovey place and will go back

High end for jazz

By MarkWing |

This is a beautiful room in a beautiful place with excellent food. It's just a whole lot more fru-fru than you typically find in a jazz place. This is the land of $50 entrees. My primary complaint is that the headliner vocalist advertised on the calendar did not sing a note until two hours after the live music began. The ensemble should have received a higher billing, as the singer appeared to be incidental to the thing, even though she was quite good. Attentive staff, although they don't seem to know a thing about the live music.

The Best Jazz in LA

By David K |

Incredible night here. Cristiane our server was so great and helpful and the food is delicious. And the venue is wonderful for listening and watching Jazz. We are used to small crammed Jazz venues like the Blue Note in NYC and this was just fantastic in every way. And the Big band Jazz group was world class jazz and we loved the young charismatic singer that did original works as well as some Frank Sinatra covers. Can't wait to go back!

First Rate On All Levels!

By Cindy S |

Wow! What a wonderful experience! We went to see one of my favorite performers Amy Keys. We figured since it is a jazz club we were going mainly for the music. Thinking the food would be overpriced and not expecting it to be gourmet quality, we were so WRONG! The menu had so many enticing dishes it was difficult to choose. Our dinner and drinks were top gun! Our waitress was the best. Cool decor and killer music! Yes it is a bit pricey but well worth it considering the overall excellence!

A great experience

By clay k |

Went to Vibrato last night for Strunz & Farah, a Flamenco duo. Their show was terrific but the thing that impressed us most at Vibrato was the service. The club itself is located in a fairly unlikely spot, a small shopping plaza in Bel Air. There is complimentary valet parking which is really nice as the lot is small. The club itself reminds me a bit of Yoshi's in Oakland, only a bit smaller. The layout is excellent for live music with a semicircular stage on once side and tiered table-seating around it. The place exudes class in everything from tablecloths to modern art. The seating is very comfortable. It is romantic and intimate. We had two dishes during the show - the lobster mac & cheese was simply rapturous; creamy, cheesy and loaded with lobster. The portion was very large for an appetizer. Two of us could not finish it. This dish was really, really wonderful. ($18) The second dish ($33) - Pan Seared Diver Scallops, Confit Potatoes, Asparagus, Grape Tomatoes, Maiikake Mushrooms, Truffle Beurre Blanc, was less successful. I did not see any potatoes in it but worse it was intensely salty and had an acrid bitterness running through the dish. There was some burnt oregano that added to the bitter flavor which I couldn't quite identify. Perhaps the deglaze of white wine burned, I'm not sure. So why the five star review? Here's why - our waiter, Tom, was beyond gracious and accommodating, offering a replacement dish or to simply remove the scallops from the menu. We were both pretty full at this point so we opted for the second option. He offered us a comp dessert or drink. He indicated that he'd discuss the dish with the kitchen and given the quality of the experience here I have no doubt the dish will be be adjusted. It's this kind of service that sets places apart. Great service goes a long way. This place has it down. I will happily return.

All that Jazz....

By Lorraine A |

The very first time I went to Vibrato, I was blown away. It’s a cute place tucked in a very small, but upscale shopping plaza off of Beverly Blvd. I didn’t pay much attention to the food that night because a friend of mine was raving about the musical group that was going to perform. Truthfully, we had the best time, so much that we ended up hiring the group for a private party. Recently, friends of mine were coming to town, and it happened that the same group was performing so I suggested we go, assuring them we would have THE best time. Unfortunately that was not the case. They charged $25 cover fee, and stipulated a $35 minimum on food. Drinks were $20 each and the food was not only overpriced, but was substandard. I ordered a shrimp scampi appetizer ($24) and it came loaded with red hot paper flakes. It was so spicy, I could not eat it so I sent it back. The Caesar salad, was a bunch of chopped lettuce, with bottled dressing, sprinkled with a few croutons. The salmon was put on a bed of peas and the chicken parm was even worse. So not only do they charge a cover, but then they jack up the food prices, which would not be too bad had the food been good. Now the band came out. You could not here the vocalists because people sitting at the bar & standing in the back kept talking. I asked our waitress several times to ask the manager in charge that evening to quiet down the background talking, but to no avail. There were 4 of us; we spent well over $500, and I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Needless to say, I won’t be going back to Vibrato & I certainly won’t be bringing my friends.

Music - excellent…. & the foods not bad too!

By Julia A |

Vibrato is tucked away in Beverly Glen and a little off the beaten track for most LA visitors but if music is your thing, it’s definitely worth making the trip. Reservations probably a good idea and make it a dinner show… the food is excellent too!

Great atmosphere & music

I have been going to this place once a month. The design and feel is amazing, food is pretty good, but I mostly go to enjoy few drinks and atmosphere. Def go check it out !

Perfect location, nice ambiance

By LunaDeMargarita |

This is a perfect place to take a date or spouse for a night out - you get to hear cool music in an intimate setting at a lounge-like restaurant situated in a gorgeous Bel Air neighborhood, but I don't recommend going there for dinner. While the menu choices are all quite expensive, the quality / taste of the food is definitely not up to par... not at all. We ordered couple of appetizers - grilled artichoke (it was soggy, almost cold, very unappetizing) and tuna tartar (delicious). Dinner entries were steak (good size but very average in taste), braised short ribs (no comment), and red snapper (not bad, but the accompanying greens were soggy and tasteless, while grilled broccolini were barely warm and had so much salt that none of us could eat them). Overall, I wish we'd come just for drinks and stay for the music, which was wonderful that night (Paris Chansons), Good place for a romantic, music-filled evening, but I recommend having dinner elsewhere first.

Fantastic atmosphere - Great Food, Great Wine list and tasty tunes!

By Dhavekost |

Took a group of 10 (business colleagues) to Vibrato last night. Fantastic evening, with a nice ensamble group playing all night long Small restaurant - so a 10 top pushed them a bit, but was well worth it. Being from Ohio, we took the opportunity to drive Mulholland a bit and see the sights. Not too far from Beverly Hills, so that was fun too.... but the restaurant is the star. Located in a small strip mall - this place has awesome ambiance and is lots of fun. Dark and mysterious - with a nice bar up front if you dont' want to eat. 10 of us (with 3 bottles of wine) ate for about $1K - with tip. So a reasonable evening out. This is the 2nd time I've been - and will definately go again - next time with my wife!

Fantastic venue for jazz, sexy drinks and food!

By Nadia s |

Went in for Anna Mijoll ( fanstsdtic Icelandic jazz singer) and truly enjoyed myself! The venue is sexy, cozy, classy and located in a hidden place in bel air! The dinner is tasty but a bit pricy. Drinks are sexy and exotic and well worth the high price! There is a $20 cover charge automatically added to your bill for some of the singer's but worth every dime for a great, Classy and sexy night!

Special Occasion Dinner

By Allison G |

My guy and I took my parents for my moms B-day. We reserved a table right at the stage and thoroughly enjoyed our delicious dinner. Great music and great ambiance. They were incredibly busy, so service only gets an 8 when everything else gets a 10. The only bummer is that 2 hr and 15min time limit at the table. We were well aware of it, but when you are fine dining with multiple courses and enjoying conversation, that's not actually long enough. We felt rushed through coffee and had to give up our great seats. Otherwise, it was a wonderful night! The overall spectacular experience easily had us look past the so-so aspects.

A pleasant surprise

By Elie B |

I read some negative review and was ready to be disappointed. I had to go there because I was told by my wife and daughter that this was where we are going. At this point it was easy to exceed my expectations as I did not have much. To my delight, I had to put all my negative expectations behind and enjoyed a nice place with beautiful music and delicious food. The portions were just the right size with plenty to share, tuna tartar-delicious the bread selection- to die for, and the creme brûlée was amazing and plenty for 4 if you really want to enjoy and not to gorge yourself. In get neural, the appetizers were really great and the main dishes were good. While I cannot comment on the experience of other diners, I would say that if the restaurant maintains the quality I experienced, I would gladly recommend the place and visit again Edit Remove Send To A Friend Link to This Review

Music and culinary art.

By Peymaneh R |

Come enjoy Jazz music and fantastic food and great ambiance all in one place. The bar isn't bad either. This is one LA's landmarks that is a must see and experience. The steaks here are cooked to perfection. The salads are creations of art. Of course the live music has an impact on what you eat. The deserts are to die for.

Worth the (Tijuana) brass.

By Distefano8 |

OK. We arrived late and pretty flustered I might add. The car hire folks had let us down on the sat nav front and this place is buried away up in leafy Bel Air seemingly in a small mall. Our arrival, as a result, almost turned to departure as the place was packed to the gills and the only tables left were poorly located or simply too small. However, having patiently tried a number of options, the waitstaff eventually located us at a perfect table with an excellent view of the stage. And it has to be said that service throughout was impeccable (even to the point of deterring us from ordering two portions of lobster mac and cheese as starters on the basis that one was more than sufficient to share! Oh and it WAS exceptional by the way!) Suffice to say, this place is not cheap but the performance that night, the food and especially the service levels were absolutely exceptional! No Spanish flea in the ear then from us!

Just the best

If you like music, especially jazz, visit this place the next time you are in town. Great room, great service, great food and great music. Owned by Herb Albert, this is a must for all who love a great night out.

Sophisticated Vibe

By Econouvelle |

With fewer jazz venues available locally we were excited to discover Vibrato. We stumbled upon it while taking Beverly Glen to a UCLA concert and are so glad we did. The elegant supper club atmosphere is a rare treat. If you arrive early you can sometimes listen to a jazz combo or singer warming up. A few seats at the bar provide an excellent view of the stage. We keep returning for cocktails, appetizers and great jazz.

Herb Alpert's signature Muis/Dinner Club located in Beverly Glen

By Jollyman22 |

Music lovers and foodies know they'll be in for a treat the instant they enter the almost hidden gem in small upscale Beverly Glenn shopping plaza. A left at the bar area brings you to the main room, a wonderfully designed performance and dining space. The performers are a good mix of vocalists and great musicians, and mixing old standards with their own compositions. There is sometimes an entertainment surcharge but not too often, check their online calendar for the current month's schedule. The food offerings are fairly typical but are prepared very very well and will not disappoint. Arrive early as the parking can be very tight, particularly later in the week. If you enjoy great jazz and great food, a visit to Vibrato is a must. Also a great place to to celebrate a special occasion.

No longer the great place it was!

By Mummels |

This restaurant used to have the best food, best entertainment and best service. 15 years later, it has all changed. Used to be my favorite restaurant in the area and took everyone and it was fantastic. Not so much now. I will not be returning.

Start with the braised ribs and arugula salad. Pig out on the bread sticks. Great lemon drops. It helps if Wendy pays.

Wonderful place and owned by Herb Alpert

By greengardener |

We went after Thanksgiving - didn't want to cook again. We saw Tony Gallo - he plays there monthly and is very good. The calamari appetizer is very generous and very good. I had the ahi tuna which is also very good. Drinks - they have a great wine list and great wines by the glass. Not this I really don't know any of these wines by the glass kind of list - but wines you recognize that are good. Such as Frank Family. One of my favorite cocktails is not on the list but you can order it - a lime basil martini. But take my advice and stop at one :) pretty potent and deceptive. Herb Alpert does such great things with his many charities I also like to support the restaurant just for that - but it has great food, great drinks and great music as well.

Wonderful evening

By Lolo624 |

Celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary there. Upon arriving 5 minutes early for our reservation the hostess tried to seat us upstairs and in the corner. I explained that I had made a reservation weeks in advance to ensure a nice table for our anniversary and was very disappointed. After talking with a couple of other people, we were given a booth on the first level, still in the corner but better than upstairs. Music was very enjoyable, food was delicious and service was great! As the evening went on we could see that seating was an issue for others, just not us and in fact, we witnessed 2 different parties leave the venue when they did not like their seating. Not sure what can be done about that!

Loved it!

My wife and I had a great evening at this jazz/ restaurant venue. Food was ok, service was a little “ in your face” but the band were great. A really nice venue. We will return when next in LA.

Disgraceful

By Tisha89 |

This place is verry nice but the service I got was so disturbing the waiter were drinking and the manager was outside smoking and drinking only 3 waiters were actually doing a great job the food was great the salad was disgusting I have no idea what they are doing to this great place but it's turning into a hell whole .

Phatback, Earl, and Me at Vibrato! Excellent food, music, and service!

By Kelly M |

PHATBACK, EARL, AND ME performing at Vibrato Grill Jazz made for one incredible evening of entertainment and superb dining. The band is a mix of all-star musicians with too many credits between them to list, led by drummer Herman Matthews. We were dancing in our seats! The sound mixer kept the volume and mix just right. The food was excellent (hats off to the chef). We especially enjoyed the filet mignon, yellowtail with kumquats, Alaskan halibut, asparagus, and tarragon mushrooms. The chocolate orange cake made my day! We had outstanding table service provided by PACO! He was very accommodating for a table of 8 with allergies, on top of our drink service, and his kind persona helped us have a wonderful dining experience! Thank you, VIBRATO--we will be back!

Bel Air's Hidden Treasure

By JuzMaintain |

Vibrato is one of those places you walk into and think... "Wow! Why have I never been here before?" One very good reason might be the fact that it's located in the tucked away corner of a strip mall at the top of Mulholland in Bel Air; not exactly on the beaten path. Yet another might be that it feels and looks and is the sort of restaurant that seems to be able to get by on word of mouth alone and, therefore, can present itself in the quiet, understated manner befitting a high class eatery / jazz venue. My wife spirited me away to Herb's place as a surprise birthday gift. It was nothing short of sublime. I couldn't tell you who was playing that night but it hardly matters; the ambiance is incredible... orange, black and tan motif, low lit and very elegant. Vibrato has one of the best stage and sound systems I've ever experienced at the club level. Enough oomph to feel the music but never overpowering the atmosphere of the place; just perfectly suited. I could have spent a week sitting at our table sipping top flight scotch and watching act after act play their way through, it was that nice. Expensive? You bet. Worth it? No question. Service was impeccable, always on point and never an empty glass. Great wine selection (and scotch). Had the filet mignon and garlic mash... exquisite. Followed with raspberry cheesecake, a double espresso and then a Grand Marnier neat... of course. Great for couples and friends who'd like to try a new and exciting spot that's WAY different than your normal jazz club. Phenomenal for business meetings. Upscale, refined, classy and distinguished are just a few of the accolades I would heap upon this most excellent of establishments. Go and enjoy.

Lively, Fun Night

By Dina H |

Previously I had been to this place for cocktails but never had the pleasure of experiencing the live music or food and knew i needed to come back. Boy was it a fun night. We were seated directly in front of the stage (yes a bit loud but manageable) on the floor section of the restaurant and was greeted immediately with friendly service. It should be noted that there is a $35/per person min on food (not including drinks) which does force you to order (and eat!!) more than perhaps you might have planned. Nevertheless the food is delicious, perfectly prepared (the filet was outstanding) with larger than average portions. The service was right on; not too imposing yet attentive. And the music is what you go for....a private setting to enjoy classic jazz. If you are a fan, its a great place for a special occasion.

Great music but missed a sax....

By DeeC |

Beautiful setting and a great club. Music was good but I missed a sax or horns or something in this jazz club. Dinner was good - I should have had the steak (hubby said it was delicious) instead of the Bolognese....it was a little bland and too much milk in the sauce. Service was spot on. Will probably not come back as I'm looking for a different kind of jazz.

A Bit of Manhattan in the Hills

By GenaVazquez73 |

This is definitely one of Los Angeles' hidden gems. Situated on the top of Beverly Glen, it is an easy enough location to access on both sides of the Hills. The only drawback is that it is in the only strip mall in Beverly Glen. The interior has the look at and feel of a Manhattan restaurant. The seating is perfect with the option of three levels on which to dine. The bar is big and drinks are excellent. The food is fresh and delicious American cuisine. I recommend the burger or the scallops. Definitely try the martinis. Every night there is a different band/quartet or soloist booked to entertain. This is one of the hot spots in L.A. to listen to live Jazz. The service is great and it is easy to get a reservation. Overall, this is one of my favorite spots in L.A.

A perfect combination of experiences: companion, food, and music

By thomasdosborneii |

I went to Vibrato for the first time a few days ago, but not the last! I invited a friend of mine to celebrate her birthday and the beginning of our spring break (we are not students, but work in a school), and a co-worker of ours and his band were performing there, yielding a great combination of feelings and experiences. I understood that reservations were generally a must because this venue is very popular, but the on-line system was kind of confusing so I made my reservation by phone, instead, which I think was better. I made it clear we were there for both dinner and the show and I was making dinner reservations for 8:00 (the show was from 9:00 PM to midnight). The very nice woman taking the reservation asked me if this was a special occasion, and I said "Yes", that it was my friend's birthday. She said she would make a note of that. Apparently the restaurant sometimes charges your credit card for a reservation and if you don't show, you will be charged a cover charge. I think this is only for when they charge a cover charge, which they were not charging for this evening. At any rate, I didn't need to give my credit card number (and we weren't no-shows!). We never were charged a cover charge--but the dinner and drinks was $200 for the two of us--yet I felt that it was a good deal, at least for a special splurge. Essentially, the tables are in semi-circle layers facing the stage. There was also a bar area. We were pleased to see that our table was on the lowest "rung" down, quite close to the stage. This was a section for couples, all sitting side by side on a comfortable banquette with tables that were kind of narrow, but we easily made do. Our waitress was a very friendly, happy, and enthusiastic woman named Tara whom we liked right away and who was a joy all evening. We liked her so much that my companion said that I HAD to write a good review of the experience and to mention Tara by name, and I am happy to do that! The food was excellent--I had spare rib (one of my favorite dishes) with garlic mashed potatoes and a large wedge salad. My companion had king salmon with mushroom and asparagus quinoa risotto that she really enjoyed, and a Caesar salad. There was also bread brought to the table, small slices of french bread, raisin bread, and tall skinny breadsticks, along with butter. My friend whose favorite drink is beer ordered a Sierra Nevada Ale that she hadn't tried before, and it arrived in a tall, elegant glass that she said she wanted to have at home. She liked the Ale. I had a mixed drink based on cognac, two of them, actually, and they were refreshing. During dinner, the waitress brought my friend a gorgeous spray of purple orchids, which was a wonderful surprise. That was the result of the reservationist taking a note that it was my friend's birthday. I made sure my friend understood that that was a gift from Vibrato (I wanted credit given to where it was due), that my part in that was letting them know that it was her birthday. (There was no charge for that on the bill.) She was pleased by the specialness of receiving orchids. I had made dinner reservations for an hour before the official show, because I wanted us to enjoy each other with good conversation. However, there was musical entertainment during that part, as well, a pianist and a bass player (or maybe a drummer--I wasn't paying enough attention to recall) They were not connected with the headliner. Nobody introduced them, they simply came out and played on stage. They were good, although few seemed to pay much attention to them, really. They were background entertainment. I noticed that to my taste the acoustics were perfect. I could easily listen to this music if I wanted to, yet my friend and I could talk with each other without shouting. Obviously all the other diners around us were conversing, too, yet we could not hear them unless they intentionally leaned over to talk with us. We decided that neither one of us would get dessert and our waitress did not bug us about that. When she came over to our table after we had had dinner, my friend ordered a coffee (and so, then, did I), and at that time the waitress asked my friend did she want ice cream or sorbet. My friend said "sorbet". It arrived with a lit candle in it, and while the man who brought it did not sing happy birthday, the people around us did sing it. I would say that the other people in our vicinity were all very friendly and having quite a good time, just like we were. At 9:00 on the dot, the Dale Q. Fielder Quintet began playing on stage. Dale is our co-worker at the school. He is a new employee and this was the first time we heard him and his band live. He is a gigantically respected baritone saxophone player, and also in his band were the amazing Jane Getz ("no relation" to Stan Getz) on piano, Bill Marcus, quite an impressive bass player who really PLAYS that bass (and my joke is he does all but pick it up and tuck it under his chin) but in all other ways it is almost like a violin to him, Thomas White, a great drummer who to my taste made the drums almost sound like musical instruments (there was a sense of "music" to his rhythms), and, what Dale called his "secret weapon", Rita Edmond, a jazz singer who, while only singing three songs during the evening (the Quintet doesn't generate a lot of music with lyrics), she nevertheless rocked out quite passionately and was very appealing. We certainly stayed for the whole show, and not out of "politeness"; we really enjoyed the music. Also, my friend bought the latest CD of Dale's music (that was being sold there) and I bought a CD of Jane Getz's music (I already had Dale's CD). Although I must say that I had assumed that the official music portion would be like a concert, people were continuing to converse throughout the performance, and I confess, so did we. But I would like to stress again that I thought the acoustics were perfect. The volume of Dale's group was such that we could have sat there quietly and listened to and enjoyed every note without a single complaint, and yet we could also converse with each other without having to shout into each other's ear. Also, the people at the other tables near us continued to converse and we couldn't hear them at all. It actually was a perfect combination of experiences and I found that I LIKE this kind of evening. We were there for all three reasons, enjoying each other, having a great dinner, and being treated to really good live music. I have a feeling I will be going there often, now that I know about it.

Great ambiance, great food, friendly staff

By GPMolina |

Went to this restaurant for a romantic night out and were not disappointed. The staff was so friendly and the food was excellent. What's a jazz club without jazz, so there were a couple of musicians playing on stage, and that added to the mood.

Romantic Evening in LA

By Wallabyguy |

This is one of those special gems that can be lost in the sea known as LA. There is so much going on here and so much motivated by the latest fad that a consistent above average performer like Vibrato can disappear without a trace. Fortunately another site lead my wife and I here for a evening in search of romance. The drive to the restaurant is wonderful weaving through the hills above Hollywood. encountering the occasional Coyote and exceptional views of the city below. In Philadelphia, my wife and I often visit Zanzibar Blue which has a nationally recognized reputation as one of the best Jazz clubs in the country. Vibrato can hold it's own in this company with a fine match of decor and food. Don't look for fancy sauces or artistic presentation. Instead recognize that this is an extremely good chop house with the best rib eye steak I have ever had the pleasure to taste. Perfectly cooked with a nicely seasoned seer, the steak proved extremely tender. Desert (Lava cake) was slightly disappointing based not so much in and of itself but compared to the rest of the meal. Service warmed up as the night went on but was initially a bit abrasive. This may have been due to the last minute addition of 2 more to our party. The hostess did call to confirm our reservation and verify our requests earlier in the day. Great romantic atmosphere, combined with excellent live Jazz and the best steak I've ever eaten.

Night to remember

Charming venue for live jazz

By docfoodie2013 |

Lovely venue with beautiful large paintings reportedly created by the owner Herb Alpert. If you are a jazz lover, this is a wonderful place to enjoy. This is a great place for after dinner cocktails but the dining room offers a full dinner menu. Admittedly I have not dined here before, I have also only sat at the bar. Each seat has a view of the stage. The bartenders are attentive and the cocktails are well done. For a small snack, I highly recommend the garlic french fries. The dress code is casually nice to more formal attire. Its rare to find a great live jazz place outside of Chicago.

good venue. They need to learn how to make a Cesar salid

By bacchus21 |

This venue is owned by Herb Albert. Great for music. When I made reservation I was asked if it was a special event. I told them it was our 44th anniversary. Jamie, the person that answered the phone said that was great and she would make a note of it. When we arrived and were seated the person again asked us and we told them. I am not sure why they kept asking they did not recognize it in any way. The main courses were very good. It is on the expensive side. The Cesar salad was very bad. It doesn't take much to make one. This was like one from a connivance store. Service was good. The group playing that evening was not that good or what we expected. If you go ask about the balcony seats

Great birthday celebration

By VegasCowboy |

Our group of six had a fabulous dinner. We shared an excellently prepared Tomahawk Steak between 5 people and added a Filet. We had plenty of food and also the sides were nicely done and served by attentive, friendly staff members. The music was good as always . I could not think of a better place to celebrate with a group of friends. GO!!

Vibrato: Hidden Gem in Beverly Glen

By astrojane |

After 13 years of discovering and frequenting all sorts of Jazz clubs in LA we were surprised to find one we hadn't even heard of - Herb Alpert's Vibrato, tucked into a small upscale shopping center on Beverly Glen Circle, just south of famous Mulholland Drive. This is 1%er's country. Teslas and Maseratis in the mall parking spots, and a few other excellent restaurants in among the fancy art studios and clothing stores. But we came for jazz, and were very pleased with the menu, too. Corkage for wine from our cellar was $25, but Vibrato has a very nice wine list, with a huge list by the glass. And a great bar, too. Nice nearly horseshoe shaped bar at the entrance, amazing decor and woodwork, all curated by an acoustician, who designed this entire space for the music. Take a look at the artwork -- all the paintings and jazz sculpture (famous musicians with theirinstruments above the bar) are works of art by club owner Herb Alpert. If you arrive for dinner on the weekends, the seating is until 8:30, when the main act goes on. So when you make your reservations on for the weekend, and want to see the main music act, reserve later - like 8:30 or 9 p.m. Weekdays, house duo led by house music director Pat Senatore plays 6:30 - 8:30, then the main act. You don't have to give up your seat of you dine early on these night. We loved the place, and our waiter, Thomas (I think) was excellent. We split everything: Petite filet, side of baked potato and asparagus, and they brought an extra plate so we could split everything easily. We split a great shrimp cocktail, too. No extra cost for splitting, as some restaurants do. Great bread, great people watching. And best of all fabulous Jazz!!

Very entertaining

By NJtravel099 |

We went to a Christmas Eve jazz event. The food, service and entertainment were all excellent. Would highly recommend requesting a table in the “balcony” for a great view of the stage and people watching on the main floor below. Parking was a bit of a challenge until we found the second lot behind the restaurant.

Special Evening with Fantastic Entertainment

My husband and I went here for our wedding anniversary. The staff treated us really well and the show was wonderful. Some older classics and some original stuff, which we love. Food was delicious and the drinks were good.

Amazing!

By Camron S |

Best experience I have had in Los Angeles in a long time! Food was spectacular, music was great, ambiance was phenomenal and guests were out of this World.

Fantastic Unknown Restaurant! A must if in LA!

By sbf1987 |

When we were told to go to this place for dinner, we didnt expect to be driven to what looked like a shopping mall. When we entered the band had just finished playing the first set before we were shown to our seats. Nothing prepared us for the experience of the music and of course the food -- We were completely entranced!!! To cap it there were some other celebrities in the audience (and on stage)!!! Honestly if you are in LA and this part of the city (or even if you have to get here) it is WORTH a visit.

Dinner and a show

By JunieBee |

Tucked away in a small strip center this little romantic club should not go unnoticed on your travels. Atmosphere is spot on, a little dark yet romantic colors are warm and not too many tables. The music far out weighed the service. Entertainment was awesome, engaging in the crowd while performing. Large menu and wine list. Not a good place to catch up with friends although there were a couple of intermissions. Fun night!

Best Jazz Club in LA

By Posiblonde |

I went to Vibrato to see a friend who was playing drums there on a Sat. night. I hadn't been there since it was redone. What a fabulous makeover! It's everything a jazz club should be. Not only was the music top, but the ambience, lights and sound -yes, the sound- were perfect. Drinks were well made and the food was also very creative and tasty (although a bit pricey). I will definitely be returning and enjoying more jazz at Vibrato.

Great night out

The jazz bar is amazing. We had the best night yesterday ! The band was so cool, the service was very quick and food was great!

Herb Alpert has a restaurant.... Who knew??

By MsTravelJones |

And a very nice restaurant it is, too! I have to confess that when I heard this was Herb Alpert's place, I was intrigued and compelled to go. I dunno... maybe I was envisioning some crazy, 60's themed place where the Tijuana Brass Band hung out at the bar. It's actually a lovely place... tasteful and elegant. It showcases talented jazz acts. The food is surprisingly good. Nice wines. Healthy martinis. It all adds up to a nice evening. It's a great place to go when you feel like acting like an adult. Mature without being elderly. Thanks, Herb!

Great music, awesome venue and fine dining.

By Greg S |

If you like an intimate setting and good jazz, this is the place to be. It is a beautiful room and the food is great.

Cool Jazz, Great Food

By jccgtown |

This is a great little place hidden in a canyon off of Sunset Blvd. Easy to get to if you are in West LA. This is Herb Alpert's Vibrato Grill Jazz Club - a restaurant with intimate seating around a small stage. The food here was fantastic - I had Diver Scallops and they were absolutely perfect. Scallops can be difficult to cook and have to be done just right and these were. My friends had the Sea Bass and the Petit Filet ( 8oz) - and each of these were great also. We shared a plate of grilled asparagus between the three of us and that worked out fine. I also had the sorbet for desert and that topped off my meal. The restaurant staff was great - Gregory served us - and they were extremely accommodating. The food is expensive but nothing out of line with LA prices. The big treat of the evening was being able to listen to a great singer with his jazz band Mr. Kevin Ahart. What a treat - and the music provided a perfect evening for us! Just a side note - Herb Alpert designed this facility so that the acoustics would be perfect for the audience. Also, there is a big parking lot here so parking is not an issue!

Jazzy Stuff

By HBM |

Vibrato Grill Jazz is quite the experience. The restaurant has both an air of class and openness about it. The decor, dim lights, and obviously, the music, lend it class and sophistication, however the warm staff and talented jazz bands who play and interact with guests (while they play), give the place a sense of welcome and openness to any who come through their doors. My wife and I immediately noticed upon arriving, the different types of people (older couples; younger couples; a group of work mates from the office; etc.,). Cocktails like Vampire something, Marina Del Ray & Spanish Flea must be tried; all refreshing and tasty. We ordered the Lobster Mac 'n' Cheese and Crispy Calamari, both were awesome, especially the Mac n Cheese. Mains were the Grilled Chicken Breast and Pesto Bowtie Pasta, both were also very good. Do bear in mind that the portions are massive (however, I'm from London so don't take my word for it). For dessert don't miss the warm chocolate cake; we did also get food envy when the guys next to us were served their Tiramisu. Now to the main order, the music!! If you love jazz like me, you'll love dinner here; and if you don't love jazz, you may start to question yourself after having dinner here.

What a terrific venue!

By PandM0 |

Don’t miss this if you’re in the area. Terrific décor, great seating, wonderful food and service, great music! Fires on all cylinders, so don’t miss it. Minimal parking, so best to Uber.

Are you kidding me???!!!

By Dan M |

The 1st group of base and piano player were great!!! After that it was downhill... Bob DeSena was mediocre at best and that's being kind... It was so bad it's embarrassing for Vibrato, a club that's been wonderful...

Swanky Jazz & Supper Club--the best!

By HistoryGrrl |

As a former music journalist who has been to hundreds of music venues and music listening rooms, I believe that this is one of the best places in the world to have a fabulous dinner and hear live jazz in a beautiful and intimate environment. To keep it brief, the steak was one of the best I've ever had, and the cocktails divine. Owned by Herb Alpert, the performers are nothing less than what you'd expect in a place owned by a music legend. The decor is sophisticated but not intimidating. We also felt that the price for cocktails and dinner was more than reasonable for the experience provided. NOT a tourist dive AT ALL. Located in a small shopping center in Bel Air, this is one of the best music venues in Los Angeles if not the entire US. I like it better than Ronnie Scott's in London or the Blue Note in NY.

Not to be missed

By Shan_and_Jase |

I really didn’t want to write a review about this place as I want to keep it a secret, but I like to reward good business. This restaurant is AMAZING. The atmosphere is fantastic ( very romantic for a couple but good for a group as well) The food was fantastic and we could not fault a thing. The Jazz was great and just added to the wonderful atmosphere. The thing that really blew us away was half way through our dinner Gene Simmons and his family walked in and had dinner at the table next to us. It’s a bit off the beaten path for the usual tourist but that’s what makes it great!!

Jazz, Wine and Lamb Popsicles

By karmelLosAngeles |

Vibrato Grill Jazz is one of my all time favorite spots to frequent Tuesday - Saturday. I will never tire of the soft lighting, great jazz, comfortable yet sophisticated environment and good food. I typically go to Vibrato's for the great music accompanied by the lamb popsicle appetizer and a glass of red wine served right at the bar. I've sat in the dining area several times and enjoyed my meal each time. I have found the staff to be very friendly. This restaurant is the perfect place for me to go to unwind after a long day. I hope it never changes.

Incredible Jazz and amazing food

Absolutely LOVE Vibrato Grill. I fly in regularly from Vail just to visit my favorite jazz club. The musical talent is incredible and love the intimate setting and good vibe. Eden Alpert and her staff do an amazing job, would highly recommend this charming spot.

Great Vibes at Vibrato

By BAKSPIN |

My family and I had a memorable evening at Vibrato Grill last April. The food was excellent, the ambience was upscale without being stuffy, and the live entertainment from the evening's chanteuse proved to be a perfect culmination to a wonderful evening. Flying-saucer-like plates of burnished orange, suspended high above above the stage, kept the acoustical flow moving throughout the room and added a fanciful touch of whimsy. (Check out the ever changing schedule of nightly performers on-line.)

Looking for a Special Dining Experience?

By greengardener |

We eat out regularly, but there isn't any where in LA that is like Vibrato. It is very upscale (but not overly expensive) jazz venue. You can have a great dinner with great music and the staff is very helpful. Brian who is the manager makes sure that everyone on the staff is well trained and helpful. This isn't just for a special occasion. We go up regularly just for dinner and to listen to the great music. We find it a great place to unwind after a hectic week.

Great Vibe

By Sun4FunGuy |

This Jazz and dining club was so charming to experience. Up close traditional Old world jazz show while dining on excellent food made for a perfect evening. once the show was over we hoped others would linger to the bar area but was disappointed the place emptied out quickly. it s great way to start the evening but make plans after unless you want to go home. Overall good service and reasonably priced. Comfortable seating too. Highly recommend to see!

Jazz-fest in a night

By Laura T |

Vibrato is always an LA "Must Do" when we visit. The musical line up is fabulous! We so enjoy Anna Mjoill and schedule our Vibrato experience when she's playing as much as we can. She's phenomenal!! The management staff and hostess staff are always accommodating and go out of their way to welcome us to Vibrato even when our reservation needed to be changed. The wait staff is well trained and eager to serve. The food is so good. Incredible steaks and sides. The wine list is just right. Nice selections without over complicating your brain with too many choices. I highly recommend Vibrato for a special date night or to entertain friends but my most favorite is to take our older children and start exposing them to music that is legendary, classic and fulfilling to the development of their musical appreciation.

My favorite restaurant in LA for food + ambiance

By PassionwithPurpose |

Los Angeles has a lot of great restaurants, but this one takes the cake. Vibrato's offer a little bit of everything whether you are out for a night with friends, family, business associates or a romantic evening. The decor is very warm and inviting. The lighting is not too bright, but bright enough where it is still easy to have a conversation and see your food. The music is incredible. I don't think I have ever seen a bad show at Vibrato. One of the best steaks I have ever had in my life was their Kansas City cut steak. It is only on the menu as an occasional special and is worth the price of about $50 for an entree. If you are a looking for a place with great music, service, food and ambiance then you have found it!

Great mix of food and music

By Tim D |

You don't need to be a jazz fan to love this place. A classy room with great sound. And if that isn't enough the food is just as good as the music. Tucked into a cozy groups of shops Vibrato is a must visit for any jazz fan. Go for the music...stay for the food. its a can't miss!

one of the best supper clubs in LA

By robuc1 |

if you want great jazz entertainment and eat some great food at the same time, and have a good-sized pocket book, this is the place for you. the entertainment is always top drawer and the food and service is also excellent. along with the cover charge ($25?) the price of this extravagance is high, but still worth it.

There is no other jazz supper club in Los Angeles like it.

By edenalpert |

If you want romantic, Amazing food, beyond what you could imagine live music nightly then Herb Alpert's Vibrato Grill Jazz is a must go to place. The atmosphere is so unique and the vibe is like no other. The Steaks are fantastic but so is everything I've had. Don't forget the Lobster Mac N Cheese to die for. Also you never know who you will spot there. Could be Tom Jones!

Jazz and food

The food is always good, although a little pricey. The Jazz is always good if a little noisy. Add the two up and if you are in the mood for good food and jazz this is an excellent choice . Consider a table upstairs for less noise and good food, or eat at the bar and soak up the sound. Check to see who is playing and treat yourself and friends.

Live Jazz at its finest!

A wonderful place to go for dinner and live music! Don't be deceived as this gem is tucked away in a small shopping plaza. The bar is swanky cool with a nice wine and cocktail selection. Make sure you have a reservation as this place gets super crowded.

Amazing food + music

Was lucky enough to go here Sunday night for a friends birthday party. The service was wonderful, the food amazing (filet to die for) and great music! Only wish it was closer to home!

Place to avoid!

By iac777 |

A few years back Vibrato was the place to have a steak and listen to a jazz music. Nowadays it’s just another jazz club with mediocre food, poor service and a manager with attitude. Chef cannot prepare anything decent, but the salad. Grilled steaks and chicken breasts are dry and overcooked, music is way too loud. It’s a shame that such a nice establishment is so poorly run.

A unique experience

We would recommend the Vibrato Grill Jazz at any time. Nice atmosphere, very good food, good wines , great service and of course the acoustics and the whole interior are unique. Great jazz. Compliment

Class Act That's Hard to Follow

By Marcel D |

From beat one Vibrato was a class act. We were able to get reservations for the first set (piano and bass) and a table up front for the first show a week in advance. Seating was prompt and the wait staff we efficient. The wine list is extensive depth and breadth of Bordeaux reds (our preference) as well as wines other countries. The menu is very heavy on the steak house side and be ready for some changes from what is available on line, but each selection was top of the line from fish to steak. One appetizer is enough to share if you plan to get a main course and side. We split an entry and had two appetizers. It was hard to pick just three sides to go with our meal. Deserts were the standard fare, but were done really well to set a high bar. The music is really well done with ardent professionals who are ready to perform or accompany your night it. They are truly a hard act to follow.

Food was delicious, but the service was mediocre. Cocktails were superb. I had a white pomegranate martini which was to die for.

Rather than being a welcome guest, we felt like an inconvenience!

This used to be my sister in law's favorite restaurant. In fact we have been here a number of times for dinner....But she has been disappointed recently by the noise level of the music. So before she crossed this place off her list - she wanted to go for a cocktail before we had dinner elsewhere. Sorry, this place is definitely off my list! The whole experience was disappointing. We arrived at 6pm it was fairly quiet just a couple people sitting at the bar. When we walked in the gal at the hostess station didn't even acknowledge us, as we sat at the bar, the barman was in conversation with a colleague and didn't even turn to us! Another staff member arrived at the bar to start stocking the fridges, again our presence went unnoticed! Eventually the barman turned to us and said "can I get you anything" I said a cocktail menu would be nice! While we checked what drinks we wanted, the inter-staff conversations continued as did the stocking of the fridges. Ultimately I apologized for interupting their conversation but asked if we could possibly order a drink. We got our drinks, no pleasantries were exchanged, nor an offer of appetizer menus or dinner menus...so we drank of expensive cocktails, then once again had to ask for assistance with regard to getting the check, paid our due and left. Feeling a lot like an inconvenience, rather than a welcomed guest.

Amazing night of fine food and jazz

We had a 6:30 seating at this very chic supper club. The house Jazz band played softly while we enjoyed a delicious dinner , drinks and then a fun Jazz Show with another band . Left smiling!

A new favorite for me, and I am not a steak gal at all. The music is outstanding, the dinning room is gorgeous and the service very attentive. The beat salad and the arugula salad with citrus and dates were really good, the filet was cooked perfectly and the wild mushrooms were delicious. It's expensive, but your dinner with be memorable and very special.

Dinner and Music +++

By Rosas 06 |

If you like music while having dinner and drinks, this is the place for you. Food was good but the entertainment was excellent. I came here with friends to see Joe Rozum. He was excellent. The short ribs were good. My friend ordered the veggie platter and she liked it. Not bad for an entertainment venue.

Very Good Music, Very Good Food

By Jeff N |

Had a really nice time at Herb Alpert's Vibrato Jazz club. Food was very creative and good- lots of good seafood and meat choices. The prices seem a bit high but there is no charge for thelive music so it's really pretty fair. The service was preofessional and we really enjoyed the show in a great small club setting-I could almost touch the piano player from my seat.

Mixed bag

For the food and drinks, they deserve a five. However, the wait staff was not of the same quality, nice, but clueless about the cuisine, cocktails and overall service (e.g. when does the wine come, when are the plates removed - not while others are in the middle of eating their meal!). I would recommend a serious training for them including better knowledge about food and wine. Sadly, the jazz was mostly noise to our group, eliminating any conversation, thus not appreciated. The overall layout was fairly restaurant standard.

What a great night out…..

By magtavern |

We were visiting our Son, Daughter in Law and our New Grandson who live in Sherman Oaks. I was looking for a Live Music Venue for an evening out. We made reservations for Dinner, along with a performance from Brenna Whittaker. Great food, service and a wonderful show. Brenna and her Band put on a terrific show. If you have the opportunity, treat yourself and visit Vibrato Grill. You won’t be disappointed. Set in a residential area, you wouldn’t think such a terrific venue exists here. We Uber’d, a 7 minute drive and $ 12 fare. We didn’t really think places like this exist anymore. Dinner and a Show, a truly great experience.

Fabulous night out

By snshn3 |

Highly recommend this place for a fun night out with friends or a romantic dinner. The jazz is classy and entertaining, while the food is superb and plentiful. You could easily share a meal as one dish is too much for a single person. This was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Good music and good food. Kinda pricey, but if you love jazz and go when there is live music it's worth it.

Great find in the hills above LA.

I had dinner at Vibrato with family on December 18. The food was excellent, the service very good and the music delightful. This is an expensive restaurant and it is a bit out of the way – up Beverly Glenn toward Mulholland and in a small shopping center, but the drive is worth it. It is intimate, un-pretentious and comfortable. Good wine list and nicely made cocktails. This was a first time to Vibrato for me and I hope to return for another excellent meal next time I’m in LA.

Exceptional venue

By Optasia68 |

We visited Vibrato for our anniversary and it was everything I was hoping it would be. Absolutely beautiful, ultra cool and romantic venue. Great seating and fabulous music by Bill Cantos. A place for real musicians and music lovers. The filet mignon was ridiculously good and we were happy to find a place that has top notch talent and delicious food. The only thing(and it probably can't be helped) is the loud people in the bar area. Why go to a venue with amazing musicians just to talk and laugh louder than they play? I noticed everyone in the dinner area were having quiet conversations, but some of the bar people were oblivious. Besides that...perfect venue and we see why it's rated #1 for jazz clubs! Can't wait to go back.

This is a Great Place

We looked around on TripAdvisor for something to do at night before we got to LA. The Vibrato Grill received a lot of good reviews so we made reservations for Saturday night. What a great choice we made! The pictures on the website do not do it justice. It is an absolutely beautiful place with great music, friendly service and excellent food. I was unaware that Herb Alpert was the owner until I spoke to our waiter. That's probably the reason why the music was so good. You will definitely.have a great time here. Vibrato was about 20-25 minutes from our hotel on Wilshire Blvd., but an easy drive up Beverly Glen in Bel Air. We used our GPS since it was our 1st visit to LA and had no problem finding the place. It's in a small strip mall. Tip: The restaurant parking lot was really crowded so use the free valet service if you don't want to spend a lot of time circling for a spot. If you go on the weekend you'll probably get a better table and better service the later you go (8:00 - 8:30 PM for example).

Fabulous Dining Experience!!!

By zztraveler |

I was sent to the Vibrato Grill by my hotel (the Intercontinental, which is great and they sent us a free appetizer) because I was in LA for a business trip and wanted to take my daughter out for a nice dinner with some Jazz on the side. The room is beautiful, the food is delicious, the service is outstanding and the jazz was excellent. If you are within a half an hour of this restaurant, JUST GO!!

Great food and Great Music

By ABKBOBO |

Vibrato is a premiere Jazz Club in Los Angeles with the added bonus of being an excellent restaurant. We lucked out the evening we went as it was the artistic director's birthday and many of the artists who have played there over time came to jam and celebrate his birthday. The mean was very good, the service is very attentive and helpful. All in all an outstanding evening

"Great Evening of Food and Music!"

By Codster426 |

Last week a dear friend took myself and two other gals to dinner and a concert at one of his special places up on the hill off Beverly Glen in a strip mall. I was familiar with the area and didn't think much about it until we walked into the restaurant. I couldn't believe a place like this would be nestled in this location. We all had an amazing time! It was one of those all around great evenings where you left feeling you had really enjoyed a special night on the town. It had a great bar with delicious drinks and a fun bartender. We were seated at a perfect table for the jazz concert and dinner. The menu was amazing but it was difficult to make choices because everything was al la carte and sounded so good. Then they gave us a specially priced menu with specific meals because we were there to see the show. This made our decisions much easier and there was a slight break on the price. Our meals were superb! Two of us had salmon that was very tender, another person had a very think and juicy filet and finally the guy who took us had short ribs that he orders regularly and says they are perfect every time. The side dishes and dessert were equally as good. From the time we walked in until the time we left the band played only taking a couple short breaks. The music was awesome and the sound was fantastic. Finally, the entire staff was very good. We loved our waiter, Thomas and would ask for him next time. I loved the LA experience and can't wait to go back again.

Great music, good vibe, decent food.

A Great Spot for Jazz Lovers

By thefinchster |

Situated in Beverly Glen, I certainly didn't expect a place like Vibrato to exist. Much smaller than I expected, but it's classy, sophisticated, charming, intimate, and romantic. First thing we noticed was how all the patrons were much, much older than us... We were probably the youngest couple in the restaurant. We didn't mind, but it was an interesting observation! We had a reservation for 8:30 pm but didn't sit until 9:00 pm since the only tables they had available were upstairs and I wanted to sit downstairs where the musicians were performing. We were seated at Table 1 which was to the side of the stage and tucked in the corner. Not too much space, but it was sufficient. Although we were right up in front, we had no problems with the music being too loud. Our server took awhile to bring us our menus, but he was great in recommending which dishes we should try since it was our first time visiting. The bread basket was pretty, but the bread was tough and the butter was less than tasty; we only ate it since we were starving. The braised short ribs were tender but a little too salty for my taste. I like the salmon much more even though it was on the sweeter side. Our sides of mac and cheese and buttered corn were tasty and added to our meal nicely. For dessert, we had the Chocolate Truffle Cake with Malted Vanilla ice cream. It was good, but I wouldn't order it again. Our meal, plus a glass of Riesling, tax, and tip, came to $130. The icing on top of a great meal was the live jazz music. Rob Lockhart and the Pat Senatore Trio were great! I would love to visit again to see Robert Davi or Seth MacFarlane sing. FYI: Full service is provided at the bar. However if you prefer a table, each person must order an entree. All tables have a two hour maximum seating time.

Pricey and popular jazz spot

By Marian R |

Cozy venue for live jazz, cocktails and fine dining. Excellent dinner choices, though be warned that the food is very expensive. Some very interesting cocktail choices, though we stuck with wine this evening. Call ahead as some events are ticketed only. Great spot for enjoying some live jazz. We were there on a Saturday evening and saw a warmup piano/bass act and then the headliner R&B type group. Get a reservation if you want to dine -- the restaurant and bar were both packed the night we visited.

The BEST filet in Los Angeles!!!

By Max S |

Seriously, I've been here 3 times and get the filet mignon and it never disappoints. Sure its pricey but its a nice treat. The staff is always great too. Although there are often A-listers here, we get the same service as if WE were A-listers. Its a great, intimate place to hear jazz. I've seen Seth Macfarlane here and he is really good.

evening of jazz and drinks

By martin k |

I was recommended to listen to a jazz group recently playing at this club. I must have driven past the area for years and did not know what was in this shopping center. Located just over the hill from the Valley on Beverly Glen Road is a fabulous restaurant and Jazz club. We had already had dinner so we sat at the bar. All I can say is that the club is gorgeous, the bar and staff fabulous and everyone there seemed to love the food as well. I really enjoyed the music and the atmosphere. We plan on going back many more times. When you get to the shopping center, the club is at the end of the parking lot( plenty of free parking). Signage is very subtle.

A memorable night

By Ken B |

We dined at Vibrato this past weekend and enjoyed terrific live jazz and an excellent meal. The service was courteous and professional. The kitchen ran out of my first entree choice and immediately offered a better cut of steak for the same price. We've already made reservations to return.

The king of Dinning Jazz

Every time you come here l, you are reminded of times of splendor and glamour. The atmosphere is deliciously fun and romantic, the food is orgazmic specially when new date sit next to you and forget they’re in public. Come for the food and stay for the music.

Great room for music. Food too.

By TakeTheHighRoad |

This place was designed for good sound. Superior jazz spot, ambitious menu and good wine list. Out of the way location and usually not too crowded.

Fabulous food, marvelous music, superb staff

By Tom in Minnesota |

Vibrato will provide you with top jazz players and a first class sound system. The menu offers a good variety of fine food. The interior, with its paintings, sculptures, and back-lit wood paneling, is rich with the kinds of colors of a first rate combination of music, food, and drink. Although Vibrato is located in a small shopping center, you'll easily find it just south of Mulholland Drive and on the west side of Beverly Glen. I easily booked a reservation on line through ---------- and had a wonderful time. My thanks to everyone at Vibrato for a wonderful time on February 14.

Terrible staff

By samuel m |

We really wanted to have a great experience at this location. We love jazz and wanted to check out this location. Everything was great until the show started and the couple next us talked so loudly that even the singer looked at them. I asked the water to do something! Nothing! Then I asked for the manager and the same thing. Nothing! At intermission we asked to move our table. It should have been the loudmouths that should've moved! I will never go back to this location. I don't recommend this place to anyone! I gave one star for performance.
