To quote Teen Girl Squad: SOOO GOOD!!! The Norwegian Meatballs wrap is unbelievable! They are in a caramelized goat cheese gravy that is to die for! The smoked salmon wrap is also amazing! My only thing (that made me consider giving this 4 stars) is that (at least for me) one wrap, while delicious, isn’t really filling enough to have alone. But that said, the food is just so good, even with that, it still deserves a 5 star rating. It’s just that good.

To find lefse in Portland was a real surprise. To find lefse that tasted like my grandmothers was an even bigger surprise! Loved the meatballs and gravy. In fact while watching it rain this morning I would like it again right now!

One of the better food carts in Portland is located on Belmont street. It is kind of tucked back off the road. The cart is an old aluminum trailer near the back of the pod. The food offers Norwegian cuisine. I wanted to try the seafood chowder, just a cup, and discovered that it is delicious and very comforting on a cold rainy Portland day. I also ordered the Norwegian Meatball Wrap using Lefse, a Norwegian flat bread. Lefse wrap is extremely thin and delicious and the meatball with gravy was amazing on the inside of the wrap. I highly recommend Viking Soul Food. It will make you want to take a trip to Valhalla to explain to Odin if he would have chosen to be God of Food instead of God of War he would still be alive.........

Came for the potato sausage plate, of which I've had much better. Like we were told - if you want to make money, you can't make this stuff on your own, gotta buy it pre-made.

On our recent trip to Portland, my husband and I stopped at Viking Soul Food and had the most delicious lefse I've ever had (and I'm of Norwegian and Swedish heritage, so I know my lefse)! We had traditional butter and sugar, as well as honey toppings! Viking Soul Food is housed in a re-purposed travel trailer and is located in an area with many other food carts that have a wide variety of ethnic foods and drinks, as well as a seating area to enjoy your delicacies!

My wife and I went to Portland for one purpose.....to try and sample as many food trucks as possible. Needless to say, we ate a LOT. The food truck scene in Portland is amazing, and part of our amazing experience included Viking Soul Food. I ordered the Polse wrap and a lingonberry with cream cheese wrap. the Polse was absolutely amazing and delicious. The sauce in the wrap and the sausage were very tasty. Unfortunately, the lefse was a bit undercooked and disappointing. The lingonberry/cream cheese wrap was ...well...different. It tasted ok...a bit bitter, but then lingonberries are bitter. I expected the cream cheese to balance the bitterness more than it did, but all in all it was good. I also had the lingonberry iced tea, which sort of had a lingonberry taste but not much. My wife ordered the smoked salmon lefse wrap, which she didn't care for. She also ordered the lemon curd and spiced pecan lefse wrap, which she did not care for at all and did not eat. She had the same complaint as I did.....the lefse was undercooked. However, this was actually the best Scandinavian food truck we tried while in Portland.

Was walking back to the home we rented around the corner, and picked up 2 of the smoked salmon with pickled shallot lefse wraps. Brought one to my brother-in-law, who lives in Portland, but has not tried this cart. They were delicious, I will definitely go back next time I visit!

Great out of the way cart on Belmont. Venture to the back of the pad to the old silver airstream trailer. What's Norwegian food? I have no idea, but the smoked salmon lefse wrap is so delicious. I ate it for lunch the past two days in a row. See you soon Viking Soul Food.

I came here after reading some interesting reviews and articles about the place. I was going to order a standard wrap called the Norwegian Meatball, but then they offered one which had a funny name called, "The Booty of the Sea" wrap if I remember correctly and it was excellent. It had pink shrimp, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, toasted almonds, and greens wrapped up in Lefse. The Lefse here is thin and delicious. The wrap made for an exceptional meal. Really refreshing and invigorating! It was really a unique experience after having a strange dream the night before about this beautiful, chocolate craving, beer swilling, tattooed green belly and her super cute dog and they were both dressed up like Falco in his video singing Der Kommisar. It was very bizarre, but they sounded just like him. That dog is a great dancer. Anyhow, my meal at Viking soul food seemed to be the perfect capstone in the recovery and interpretation of the dream. I felt like the Prophet Daniel. I highly recommend Viking Soul Food. It is on Belmont street and you have to drive slowly or you will miss where it is. It is tucked off the street in food cart pod that has a narrow opening It is much bigger once you walk through the narrow opening, but if you are driving a car you need to park in the neighborhood and walk in.

Located at the Bite on Belmont, this was a great find. I never had viking food, but ordered the polse which is sausage with cabbage. Prices run about $7 for a meal. There were port-a-potties and a sit down area to eat.

Blow your mind food truck. You will not be disappointed. Root veggie mash, lefse wraps, wraps are great.

The roll ups are the best, I think they are called Lefse, I believe. Have had both savory and sweet type. Great taste. Highly recommend visiting them.

It's hard to put to words just how amazing and delicious this food cart is! I discovered it just two weeks ago and can't get enough. Sadly it's for sale, so if you want to try their wraps, better run over there soon! I hope someone buys this cart and keeps making their delicious food. My favorite is the Mushroom/Hazelnut wrap with blue cheese. YUMMM.

The combinations of flavor here is amazing! The meatball wrap with the cheese gravy and pickled cabbage is unlike anything I have ever eaten and I loved it! This is a place I will go again and I am seriously considering ordering online for holidays!

We stopped today and had the best lunch! I ordered the potato sausage wrap and it was superb. The flavors from the cabbage and lingonberries were perfect pairings for the sausage. The lefse was very thin and tasty. My friend had the smoked salmon wrap and she said it was superb, too. We both had the lingonberry lefse - yum! This is a little food truck tucked with a few others between two buildings so it's hard to spot unless you're looking for the pod. In nicer weather, there's outdoor seating for eating on site. We'll be back to try other dishes! Short wait for the food. If you're in a hurry, phone orders are accepted.

I'd heard good things about this food cart turned brick and mortar. It was before noon and I was hoping for a morning fika. I ordered two lefse and coffee-- except there wasn't any. The counter person seemed offended that I'd even asked for coffee (nose turnd up) ; We don't have THAT." They have tea. They have a full bar in this little spot but, apparently, no room for even a keurig. The lefse aren't fresh. They're stone-bone cold. We won't be returning.

My wife and I ate here after reading reviews. Most food was good, but nothing I'd go back for. They do charge you to use a credit card, though. As a business owner, I would never charge the customer for that; it's just the cost of doing business, especially with their high prices. Anyway, when I commented on that, the person at register was very rude, and said, "if you don't like it, don't eat here" and walked away. Certainly will not go back

I was a little nervous to try this but I have been trying to venture out of my food comfort zone. The polse wrap was delightful! My husband has their vegetarian option and thought it was delicious. We were very happy. I would highly recommend checking them out.

Absolutely amazing! They now have a brick and mortar at SE 42/SE Woodstock Blvd. The smoked salmon lefse and Pølse lefse were fabulous. We also enjoyed the Troll Snack and pickled egg. Definitely worth a visit if in SE PDX.
I Was Hoping That I'd Become a Viking!
My son and I decided to run up to the big city (Portland) and while there, we voted to try Viking Soul Food. I had the meatballs over cabbage and pickled cabbage with some kind of brown gravy over them, and my son had the same only in a lefsa. He also had a purple pickled egg with caviar on it. To be fair, neither of us have ever had Norwegian food so all that came to mind was that it might be salty and tart ...... it was. Everything had a unique flavor, I just don't think that I'd try those same things again. I do think that we'll try to find a Norwegian Restaurant that has a larger selection so that we're not being unfair to this cuisine. The young man who took our order was fantastic and you could tell that he knew what he was doing. Definitely worth a stop if you haven't been before!
