Delicious Indian food!

By geoffreys1 |

I was visiting my daughter and wanted Indian food. I looked at their menu which was extensive. They had many dishes I'd love to try. I had the lamb fry, garlic naan and veggie samosa. Everything was VERY good. I passed this on to my daughter.

Lunch Buffet pretty good

By Travel with the Pack |

I liked brunch, ate way too much and didn't really know what anything was. It was a relatively small buffet but had a little something for all tastes from what I could gather. The waiter was good about keeping our waters full and there were TVs with CNN on to catch us up on the daily news. Overall I would go there again if I was in the area and craving Indian food. I wouldn't go out of my way for it though.

Makes me wish I lived in Dallas

By Saira626 |

Was on a work trip and was crazing Indian food I was hesitant as I had so many bad experiences where I live in Orlando with Over Priced and poor quality food but I went with the reviews and so glad I did service was very accommodating, nice ambience and absolutely delicious food and I didn't leave feeling robbed which was the best part. Best naan and the goat curry was so delicious I pack the left overs and brought it all the way back to Orlando.

The buffet had a good selection of dishes. The menu was more extensive. We did the buffet this time; but will try the menu next time.

Love Indian Food, but not here

By GrodTzu |

Never gotten really poor Indian food in U.S before. But, this place's "high's" were mediocre, and their lows were simply awful. Hot curries can be some of hottest foods on planet earth ... but Chicken Tikka???Come on. We literally torched an unsuspecting guest in our party. Basically the flavors were just wrong. Plus some consistencies were almost laughable, if not so atrocious. Example: try their Kulfi (Indian pistachio ice cream ... really, just an example - don't try it). Another: try their bread basket. A selection of 4-traditional breads - mostly different naans ... and I love garlic - the stronger, the better, but their garlic naan made you gag. They do serve decent Chicken Masala & onion kulcha ... but, otherwise - otherwise. Net/net: hate to diss a place. But, when several long-term seasoned Indian cuisine aficionados, who genuinely love this food/traditions/ambiance to a person are absolutely blown-away by the very poor dishes served to us ... then we respond accordingly. Caveat Emptor!!!

Good chow...

They may not have met my expectations on the chicken tandoori but theirs is the best I've tasted in Texas so far. And the rest of what we ordered was all delicious. We'll definitely go back again.

Pretty good curry delivered to my hotel room

By MrYellowDuck |

I had the meal delivered to my hotel room. The portion size was good. The price was reasonable. A let down was that the chicken was not perfect - one piece hadn't been prepared well enough to eat. I asked for very hot and it wasn't although I could taste a little bit of chilli.

Great Food!

We went for the lunch buffet. There was a good selection of items, including gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options. Staff was friendly & place was clean.

The best rava masala dosa and a very good lunch buffet

By a-travelin-foodie |

Really - one of the best rava masala dosas we've had in a very long time! You can even order it instead of having the lunch buffet. There are even cashews in it, so you'll be getting some good protein. The lunch buffet had a good variety and it was all pretty good. Might be a bit spicy for some who like it milder, but was just perfect for us.

Great buffet to try your hand at Indian fare

By Jose O |

Don't expect the owner or staff to recognize you even if you have been going there since it opened. But the food is very good and the all you can eat buffet allows people to try new things. Don't expect true sophisticated Northern or Southern Indian cuisine, but this Americanized version will certainly satisfy, educate and prepare you for further explorations into one of the most amazing cuisines in the world.

Christmas Eve dinner

By Kara G |

Overall great experience. The food was flavorful and fresh. The portions were generous and the prices very good, especially since they also included a bread and rice. Complimentary pappadum and sauce was great too. The service was fantastic, super attentive staff. My only complaint is the chicken pieces were inconsistent sizes and cooked to different levels.

Horrible Experience

By Yral R |

This place sucks. First I ordered a grey goose martini and the guy tells me they don't have the ingredients to make the drink and there's nobody there who could make it anyway. Then I ordered the lamb masala and they tell me that they are out of lamb. Just shut down.

Great variety on the menu

By Adriane K |

I wanted to try something different and so I ordered the Chicken 65 Dosa. It was a very big portion and the crepe tasted good. I liked the coconut chutney. The tamarind chutney that came as an appetizer with crispy chips is a favorite - a good mix of sweet and spicy. The mango lassi is a refreshing drink and helps with the spicy food. The other people in my group were very pleased with the lamb curry, delicious naan bread, and basmati rice. The chicken koorma was also flavorful. The leftovers were even better the next day. For dessert we tried the combo. The donut-like pastry was good, and it came with rice pudding and mango pudding. I was expecting the combo to include rasmalai and halwa instead (like in the menu). I guess it was substituted. The wait staff did well with refilling our water. It was not very crowded - we were there shortly after 5 p.m.

Chicken 65 dosa???? Better

By Doc_csm |

Chicken 65 dosa???? Better believe it. Of all the things on the menu , this item caught my attention. Wasn’t ready for a big meal. So, I ordered this delicious item and not at all disappointed. My friends ordered other items and they all agreed in unison that this place is good for Telugu cuisine. Keep up the good work. Service needs a bit of brushing up.

Tasty food

By topreviewersue |

We had the lunch buffet at vindu. It tasted heavenly. Their desserts were awesome. One good thing I noted is that they keep really well cleaned plates. The glass and plates were super clean. Their kichdi, vada and variety rice is excellent. Better to check the table availability prior to check in as this place is normally crowded during weekends and fridays. They serve the best fresh sweeets.

Great food

Great Buffet for Lunch!!

By Sandra K |

If you love Indian food you won't be disappointed at the Vindu Indian Cuisine. My friend and I enjoy the buffet for lunch because the service is quick and there is a variety of food at a reasonable price.

The best Carrot Pickle in Dallas

By David G |

This is our favorite place to go for Indian food in Dallas. All of our favorites from North And South India are consistently very good to excellent. Josh, the manager, insures your meal is to your liking and served hot.

Just OK

By 203ab |

Nothing to get excited about. The buffet has an ok selection and the service was good. The butter chicken was the best item on the buffet. Won't be going back.

Hit the lunch buffet ... Pretty good!

By 2flylo |

I work in the area, and prefer using the family restaurants, rather than the chain restaurants. I like all kinds of foods and haven't tried an Indian restaurant in the area. Vindu has a buffet the hits the spot. You can also order from the menu, but I just like to sample everything on the buffet, and go back for what I like best. The restaurant is a bit bigger than small, and is well kept. There are three watching over everyone, so if you need something, they take care of you very quickly. Well worth the visit. We will be going back!

Great lunch buffet

By Steven B |

Had a Groupon we used for the lunch buffet and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I've never had much luck at Indian buffets but in this case, all the food was fresh and tasted great. Will definitely be back.

Good Indian food

By CarolMojica |

The lunch buffet is a bit limited but does the trick if you have the urge to eat Indian cuisine. The full dinner menu is better. The Gobi Manchurian is dry and has small pieces, but other dishes are very good.

Great food. Pakoras were crispy.

By Rawa13 |

Great food. Pakoras were crispy. Aloo gobhi, eggplant and goat curry were delicious. Great buffet overall.

Mediocre Buffet, at best

By punjipatti |

I went to Vindu for a buffet with office colleagues recently. Much as I wanted to enjoy my favorite cousine of South Indian food, I struggled to like more than a item or two at Vindu. The quality of preparation is very ordinary and the food is quite oily. Most of the items are deep fried. Even Idli was fried and their lemon rice was super oily as well. Their curd rice may have been the best dish. There is no dosa or uttapam either. On the plus side, they have chicken dishes unlike a lot of other South Indian buffet places that are often vegetarian. In the end, I don't think I will go there again and will stick to some of the other Indian buffet places.

Looking for Indian food, give Vindu a try

By Dallas3100 |

The a la carte menu is very extensive and cover both North and South India specialties. The food is well prepared and very hot unless you request milder dishes. The atmosphere is quite pleasant and the staff super attentive. You can bring your own wine to the restaurant which is another plus. The best advice I can give is if you like Indian food, give them a try.

Great place to go for indian food

By mshanta |

In the overly saturated world of indian food in the dfw metroplex, this restaurant is actually clean and serves tasty food. Sometimes I walk into indian restaurants that smell foul, or serve food that you know was clearly frozen. But this is the one place I go that isn't either of those. The food tastes nice and authentic. I love the mutter paneer and my husband and son love the dosas and sambhar. I always wonder why it's so empty in there for dinner. They did a great job with the decor. My only issue is that the service is a bit slow. Even with barely two to three tables with guests it takes them forever to get us the bill. I would take good taste and clean over the waiting for my bill any day!

Authentic Indian food

By 12Coffee |

Finally we found a restaurant that serves authentic Indian food! Our server was very cordial and helpful. They served us with a plate of Indian cracker (with dipping) as an appetizer. We ordered a lamb curry and a mixed plate of BBQ stuff. One can order the individual portion or the meal portion. The meal portion came with rice and a plate of varieties of three dipping sauce and vegetables. The lamb curry was spicy hot. You can request the level of spiciness you would like. The BBQ plate consisted of chicken breast, chicken tikka massala, shrimp, and beef. It was served on a hot plate with roasted onion and potato. We savored every bite of the food. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Good food

By Towleway |

Service is friendly and efficient. The food is well made and the spices are very good, but the quality of meat could be a little better.

Excellent Indian Restaurant

By SidMonge |

While this is a typical Indian restaurant, the quality and taste of the food sets it apart from many others. Our service was particularly friendly.

Pretty good place for take-out

By Wesley S |

They're prompt enough and do a good job packing the food so it doesn't spill. I like this place because they're very consistent with the food and while I can't say it's the best I've ever had, I've never had a dish here I didn't like.

Great Indian food

By Wesley S |

I come here for takeout about once a month and they're consistently great on the food, plus I appreciate the friendly service.

Great northern and southern Indian Cuisine

By Robert L |

Excellent service on a quiet Friday night. Excellent food overall, but a little on the spicy side, but you can ask for it to be a little less. Very good chicken kadai and chicken tika masala came in generous portions. Chicken 65 was not crisp, but the flavor was fine. Prices are about average for this cuisine. They have a bar, but they will let you bring your own wine. I would definitely go back.
