Poor value and Mr Grumpy as the waiter...

By miketl59 |

Over all poor service from dismissive staff who make you feel that you are problem just being there.

Rip off

By Karl W |

I got the cured meat platter to go it was not so much a platter as it was about $.30 worth of cured meats along with three little toasts and some mustard. Absolute ripoff.

Welcome break

By jollyrobert |

My wife and I had just had the gruesome experience of transiting Los Angeles airport, having earlier arrived on our Air New Zealand flight from UK on our way to Auckland. The US authorities insist that transiting passengers go through all their security procedures including unloading luggage as you are herded like cattle through the airport with officials bellowing at you to "stand in line", "straighten the line", "move along, "get back in line" and so on. So when we finally collapsed in this welcoming watering hole, some 90 minutes later after disembarking, we would have paid any price for our drinks, and pricey they are too. The staff are most welcoming in stark contrast to the airports security people, and we enjoyed a quiet time, before undergoing the embarking nightmare again.

Good stopping place

By Cbethlynn |

We had a couple glasses of wine on our layover. Good wine, good service. Pleasant place to wait for your next flight.

$15 per small glass of Wine !

By JanuszRoman |

When you are at the airport - you are a captive audience, hence you PAY FOR IT !. "Vino Volio" is a well-known concept of Wine Bars, present at many airports around the world. It is a good and pleasant way to kill some time by having the ability to taste some decent wines and to eat some tasty tapas. If the choices of wines on the menu were a bit better, I would not be complaining about the $15 per glass. I have chosen a White Wine Tasting set and the wines were mediocre at the best. Mostly New World wines, which you buy in a Supermarket for below $10 per bottle. To summarize: the concept is good, the location is good, the Tapas are good, the service was good, the Wines, however, were not good enough. Just a bit of improvement in the quality of wines would be sufficient to have 4 dots filled in the overall Tripadvisor rating!

Nice but nothing great

By El colibri |

It's not surprising that this place is getting good reviews here on TA, but I think it's necessary to point out the relative nature of Vino Volo's good reviews. That is, when competing against a sea of mostly crappy overpriced airport food, yes, Vino Volo is pretty good, but were it a restaurant on its own out there in the real world...well, no. The wine selection is fairly pedestrian, but also pretty fairly priced. The reds are served too cold. Other than wine they have a couple beers and soft drinks but no liquor IIRC. The food is better than most airport food, but it's not really good, if you get my drift. For example, the truffle penne is one of those things that sounds like it would be so delicious but is actually is about on par with just about any microwave penne/mushroom thing you could get for three bucks at a supermarket. The signature salmon rolls are generic smoked salmon over generic crab salad on slices of soft brioche-y bread of some sort. The "roll" part is that the slices of salmon are rolled so they don't lie flat on the bread. I have no idea what that's about. They had to know everybody would be thinking sushi rolls... In any case, the best thing about Vino Volo is that it's a little pricier than some of the other airport restos and the wine thing scares away the sports bar types, so it tends to be a little quieter and a little easier to get a seat, where the free WiFi wins you over.

Worth Catching a Plane For

By FoodieFunGirl |

Airport waits are never fun, especially when waiting 6 hours between "connecting" flights. We spent a big chuck of our wait eating and drinking at Vino Volo and it was a great choice! We started with the tasting plate of meats and cheeses and we enjoyed every little bite. Then we had the truffle penne and the rustic pizza. Both beautiful. We had with our food the selection of Roses, which is such a great idea. You get a sip of 3 wines and when you are done tasting each you can then either move on to reds or whites, or you can buy a bottle of the one you liked most. We had been dreading that 6 hour wait, but at Vino Volo the time flew by. Pun intended. The wait staff never tried to rush us (even after we had been there 3 hours). A big think you to the staff at Vino Volo for a great dining experience.

Overpriced

By Bonython-Canberra |

Took advantage of a wine and a small meal but was not impressed what so ever. Cost was far to high for what was on offer. A Charcuterie board was $24 and did nothing to show its worth as did the cheese plate. Very small pieces of cheese were absurd. A glass of advertised (wine list) Prosecco was actually a spumante. Poor form. I would not recommend this outlet but I suppose once at the airport you are caught in what is available.

Great Food , shame about the Staff !

By Peter F |

Called in for a " Light Bite " before our flight to London on Saturday. Looked very inviting, my Wife went to order, long delay , miserable Lady took the order, we had the Pizza and a glass of wine and a beer. Food quickly arrived, VERY miserable Man delivered the Pizza ! no comment ! Just dumped it on the table between us . Food was really good, let down by appalling service. Do you not have Management here ? I think not.

Great food, but can't say about the wine.

By James A |

I was in transit and looking for a place to eat a late lunch / early dinner and just stumbled upon this place, which I didn't think much of when I walked by the first time. It looked just like a wine bar. The other option were not appealing so I checked the Vino Volo menu and it looked good. The chicken (hot) salad that I had was amazing, really great taste and very fresh. I didn't think it was expensive either, especially for an airport and the server I had was very pleasant and helpful. I didn't think I would like this place, because I don't drink wine, but it was excellent! The service and food alone are definitely worth a stop in. Give it a try and if you like wine as well, for sure you'll find this place appealing. Enjoy!

Good restaurant with nice design

By Minoolifediary |

The design was very nice and staff was attentive. We sat there about half hour for lunch. The steak sandwich and salad was really good and fresh. The lentil soup also was very delicious. Overall we really enjoyed this restaurant for as an airport restaurant

Calm in a hectic environment

By Che08 |

We stumbled upon Vino Volo as we were looking for a quiet place to have a drink. This little place is tucked away in a corner of the airport that is quiet and not busy. This in reality is probably because it is not cheap or fast food, however if you want to sit and have a light meal and a glass of wine then this is the place. We did a wine sample and ordered the tomato soup and lamb rissoles. The soup was good, although not as hot as I would have liked or expected. The lamb rissoles were great. My only negative would we the male waiter who seemed less than interested in serving us. I asked for a glass of water and waited a good 10 minutes before having to go up to the counter. He didn't even apologise for the wait, just seemed a bit put out. The woman serving was great. No tip for him! If you don't drink wine then I would give it a miss as they only had a few beers on show. Next time I would simply get a glass of wine rather than the sampler.

Not bad for the airport

By Hitcher84 |

In the main pavilion of the TBT, which is really nice. Wines by the glass start at $8, and are not bad. Mixed green salad is the best $6 you will spend at the airport. They have an app for frequent fliers/drinkers.

great place

By Leopold M |

great place to relax on a busy airport. Away from the crowd, a nice wine tasting place with excellent appetizers as well. Great concept. Very good staff here as well.

Coming Back

By Matthew B |

Amazing service from Elaine and Nathan. Very knowledgeable in the wines they had to offer. Tastefully entertaining. What a great spot at LAX.

Great wine with some lovely light food

By the_larb |

This is a great place to eat before your flight. The wine list is well put together with both glasses and groups of three samplers to try. The food is really well put together with nice flavours. The portions are not massive but I like this especially before a long flight. The meatballs and pork tacos that I had were both excellent. Would definitely visit here next time I am waiting in the terminal.

Can always get a good glass of wine and a decent snack

By adalbert3 |

Too often when looking for a glass of wine, the only choices by the glass are mediocre-at-best, At Vino Volo you have numerous choices of quality wines--red, white or rose. The small snacks are nicely done, and they offer a pleasant spot to sit and relax---always important when at an airport. I look for them at airports because I always know that I can drink a glass of wine that I will enjoy. My wife always orders the Smoked Atlantic Salmon.

Coolest Airport Bar - great wine

By Jon B |

Wine tasting great wines in an airport. With good snacks, cool atmosphere. Hardly knew I was in a major international airport. A definite distraction before a long flight. Try the tasters and the Brie and prosciutto sandwich. Perfect combo.

A relaxing place with good food & wine

By Oz Traveller |

We had a nice light meal and some wine while waiting for our flight. Very tasty food & wine, staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Quiet and pleasant atmosphere. Absolutely recommend over a busy food court with basic food!

Wine and Cheese? I'm in!

By Karen H |

A wine bar...what a fantastic addition to the new terminal! My husband and I were fairly full from our dinner at Luckyfish (another great addition), when we made our way to Vino Volo for a glass of wine and to share a cheese plate. In the future, we may just come here for a light pre-flight snack. The cheese plate was wonderful and had a large variety. We were also pleased with our wine selection. The only negative was that they were clearly understaffed and the poor servers were scrambling with zero time to talk about the wines. I like that aspect of our favorite local wine bar, the wine education and socializing. This frantic atmosphere took away from the vibe. Overall though, this is just a great new option and I was pleased! Like my review? Check out my blog!

Great wine and lite fare at LAX

By Sailing_Sweetie |

I really enjoyed the wine flight of Italian reds and I ordered the pizzatta caprino red sauce goat cheese, olives and arugula which was perfect before boarding my flight. Service was friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they serve. This will be a stop in the international terminal at LAX any time I come through.

Go here!!!

By MM5353 |

We love the wine served, and we love the service! Such a great little trendy spot in the International Terminal at LAX. . . we drop by here every year when we pass through town! You can purchase, but not if you are doing a transfer in another country as they didn't have the duty free bags to check through. . . we lost a really great rose the first time, not realizing this. . . but we continue to go back!

Taste Sensation at LAX!

By Dive_Girl_BK |

I hate to think how many times I have frequented this bar and enjoyed their food and wine... this review is long overdue! It’s only a little bar really, and it started with only a few basic food options with some wine tasting (trios or by the glass). But this has evolved over time and I actively choose to visit this bar and pay vs head to the lounge for free food and beverages... Why do I do this? I love wine and this place gives me a chance to taste some unknowns and then buy a glass of the one I most liked. I can choose whites, reds, or bubbly. And if I’m feeling rich, I can taste more expensive red wines I would probably never know about let alone buy a bottle of! And yes, I can order food! Their Marcona Almonds are perfect to pick at and their pizzettes are a great little meal! On my latest visit I tried the smoked salmon and crab on crispy crostini (photo included with a glass of bubbles) which was also really good!!! Service can sometimes be a little slow (depends on how full the bar is) but the staff are great and were particularly awesome dealing with some really rude customers on my last visit. I’ve taken customers there when I couldn’t get them into the lounge and they’ve loved it... but I also just go there alone to relax and enjoy a nice wine before the long flight home to New Zealand. I hope you go too and enjoy!!!

If you want fine wine…

By Kimberly D |

This is perfect place to prepare for a big trip from LAX! Wonderful wine, great bites and excellent service from Heidi!!!

Inexpensive and great wine selection

By JeLundgren |

Excellent place in LAX, great selection of wines and rather inexpensive. Comfortable seating arrangements and overall a nice place to spend time while waiting for your flight.

Decent but expensive

By Gonzalo_de_Berceo |

I respectfully disagree with one of the previous reviewers. These wines are far too expensive. And the wine is as cold as the service. But the tastes are there ... a nice place to unwind before the flight?

Great spot to wait for a flight

By Anna B |

It was great to see the sun set while tasting some good wines. Definitely will stop here again next time I'm fliying out of Terminal B.

Vino Volo tradition

By nordicgirl74 |

I LOOOOVE coming here, it's my tradition to stop by Vino Volo when flying out of L A. I always have the wine tasting flight, and I try different ones. Today I tried the omelet, and it was light and tasty, perfect for flying. And I talked to Heidi that works for Vino Volo, that made my visit even more enjoyable ❤️

Far from the madding crowd

By Dizzyg33 |

This is a little oasis at LAX Tom Bradley terminal. The fast food section of the airport leaves a lot to be desired. Very civilised, great wines, and food you want to eat. Would not go anywhere else.

Nice bite before long flight

By astrojane |

Mu sister and I were off on a trip to Switzerland and Italy, with a ski group, long flight from LAX to Franfurt, then to Milan, then a 3 hour bus ride, and a train to Zermatt. To kick tnhings off we stopped at Vino Volo in the Bradley International Terminal in LAX. We each had a salad Mixed Greens with goat Cheese $5.00 - a real bargain. And a flight of three tastings of wine. Sis had bargain reds $9 and I had Bistro reds $13. while she was off checking something I had a glass of one of the inexpensive reds, Castillo de Monjardin, Garnacha from Spain. $7 or 8 for a glass. I've been to the Vino Volo in Vancouver's international Airport. It's an excellend addition to any airport. Civilized. Many outlets. Great small plates and wine tastings. A nice start to an international trip!

A little bite to eat

By nachiholts |

Great place to be before your flight... Great wine selection and good tapas.. Friendly and knowledgeable staff... I recommend it.

Consistently excellent

By Gavin D |

4th visit - always good. A great way to steel oneself for the trans Pacific flight ahead. This time, a lovely riesling blend with the charcuterie board and the house garancha with the meat pizza - fabulous!

Good food & wine, but its LAX.

By Rocky Road |

Along with other reviews, I noticed the same thing at Vino Volo-LAX, as well as Rock & Brews-LAX: Service is uneven, sporadic, faulty and getting a check takes forever. It doesn't have to be this way. Vino Volo-SFO & Vino Volo-DEN are just fine, service wise. Weird, huh? Ordered a beet salad, but was brought a beef salad. The waiter said he heard "beef". Well, you know just how similar 't' sounds like 'f'?!?!? Almost impossible to confuse the two (try it for yourself). Something is wrong with this operation.

Wish there were locations outside the airport!

By Lynda V |

Previously, when flying to London, we were excited to try out the new restaurants in the Tom Bradley International Terminal. Unfortunately, after trying food from several of the "food court" booths (including those from supposedly highly rated chefs), we were extremely disappointed. I wish we had discovered Vino Volo then. This time we were flying out to Paris. We arrived at the airport around 3:30pm for a 6:30pm and hadn't gotten around to lunch in the chaos of finishing packing (though we had a late breakfast - so we were not starving, just a little hungry). So we wanted a bite to eat. We knew from our last international trip to avoid the food court area, so this time we looked elsewhere, and discovered Vino Volo. What a find! We sat at the bar (though they also have tables with table service) and ordered drinks and food. I got a glass of rose champagne, husband got a beer, and we ordered a cheese and charcuterie board to share. It was delicious. We were still just a little hungry, so we then ordered a panini-style sandwich - as I recall, it had proscuitto, brie, fig jam, and arugula. It was so good - the cheese was melty and there was a wonderful sweet/salty combo with the proscuitto and fig jam, plus the arugula lent a crunch and freshness. We still had some time before our flight, so I indulged myself with a second glass of rose champagne - it's not easy to find rose champagne by the glass here in the LA area, and this particular one was delicious (wish I could remember what it was).. Service was ok - average to above average. Man working the bar was fine - took our orders, served us - but not exactly the typical "bartender" who might chat with you. If you find yourself in international terminal at LAX, don't miss Vino Volo.

Best Vino Volo!

By GradingMachine |

My wife and I regularly visit Vino Volo when we fly out of Philly. Flying out of LAX terminal B today, we visited the LAX Vino Volo. We enjoyed great food, drinks, and service from Heidi. Can’t wait to be back! 🥂

Better thee wine than the food

By JoeBaileyCole |

I have eaten at two other Vino Volo airport restaurants with satisfaction - Washington DC Dulles International, and Seattle International. This one didn't make the mark when it came to the food. Each of us had sandwiches which were microwaved, thus ruining the bread. Microwaving bread destroys it on a cellullar level and makes it difficult to chew. Also, they were still cold in places, not heated through, and dangerous to eat. The wine was good.

Still HUNGRY!

By VL1964 |

Food good taste but the prices for the food are very expencive and VERY little portions. The ravioli is like a little starter. Pizza like two slices...still hungry. I can't recommend this place ... Only if you want to taste something.

Fantastic

By Reob |

Delicious food and great service! It was great to have a decent meal after such long haul flights. This will now be out go-to when we are at LAX!

Better than the alternatives

By Bob B |

After a disappointing visit to the nearby champagne bar (flat and overpriced) we restarted our vacation with some bubbly., which bubbled, and wine.

The bar with no ice!!

By janet2801 |

I often find that bars do not pour their red wine from a specialised wine fridge & hence the wine is too warm. Which was the case with Vino Volo so I asked for a cup of ice so I could add 1 or 2 to get to the right temperature, only to be told they have no ice! Sorry???? a bar with no ice??? I changed to a white which was at least cold but I'd look elsewhere for a glass of wine before your flight. On a positive note their warm olives were very good

Love the vino volo concept

By tfizzle |

Always decent wine and better than airport prices. They have a nice diverse wine list. Unlike the airport bars this is quiet oasis.

1 st time

By kathyhK9551WZ |

Bad service for the 1 st in the 10 years I have been frequenting all locations in the United States usually good service. Today very disappointed.

A welcome addition

By nanatravels2 |

to the newly remodeled (and not a minute too soon -- it was desperately in need of updating) terminal. This upscale, "trendy", place was unusual food offerings and an excellent selection of wines, include interesting tastings. The prices are not outrageous, considering the quality. The service is excellent.

A good moment of relaxation between 2 flights A good moment of relaxation between 2 flights

Friendly Welcoming. Adapted and informed advice. Good value for money. We tested 2 wines. Perfect for us. Friendly welcome. Appropriate and knowledgeable advice. Good value for money. We tried two wines. Perfect for us.

Wine flights were actually decent! And the servers were so accommodating.

By Ava G |

Wine flights were actually decent, especially the “Tour of Italy.” And the servers were so accommodating. I had a great experience!

Enjoyable Place to Rest with a Glass of Wine

By SkipperBill2 |

We spent some time here between flights. It was an enjoyable spot outside of the busiest areas of the airport. The wine and service was good. We also had the brisket and pizza and they were just so-so, in our opinion.

Wauw, wine selection - series

By Ester H |

I have never seen a Wine menu selection before in an airport - you order a selection of eg “californian Kings” and get 3 glasses of red Wine. We also had a snack - pepperoni pizza amd a charcutterie board, and were quite happy with all of it. I do have to say that all of the glasses we got were pleaser wines, and a little bit dull, and therefore only 4 stars and not 5, but would absolutely visit again on my next travel through LAX

A little wine before departure

By Teddy Andaluz |

We have chosen bottle of prosecco, salad and meatballs, just before our flight. Taste and service was good, slightly overpriced, but what could u expect in LAX?! Have a nice flight)

Good at the Airport!!!!

By Ron H |

While I did not expect to find a good fast meal at LAX, I did so at Vino Volo, my first time trying it. The food, snack types were very good as was the wine taster. All four party members felt their wine and foods of excellent quality and served with a smile and service.

Best spot in Tom Bradely Terminal

By Jonathan M |

The best spot is n the entire Tom Bradley terminal for a meal and drink before your flight. Donny was our server and the Spicy Capicola and egg sandwich was amazing. My favorite spot at LAX!

Terrible and humiliating experience - don't go there!

By Christoph P |

We wanted to have a last glass of wine before going on a transatlantic flight yesterday, and decided to stop by Vino Volo at LAX. After ordering, we asked for the check as we were on tight schedule. Then Victor, who we didn't see before, brought the check and collected our cash, asking us loudly and aggressively if we are not giving more tips than what we gave and thus told us to keep our money if we don't want to increase the tip. We felt extremely uncomfortable, especially when he then started clinching glasses around us and making loud and sarcastic jokes about our tipping attitude to his colleague, that seemed to enjoy the jokes. We find this unacceptable and quickly left the place without even saying good bye, which we have never done before. We thus definitely don't recommend this place, especially given there are multiple other options in immediate surroundings.

Great service

By ksprott |

This is a walk-up, shared space with other restaurants but the staff make you feel as if it is a regular full-service place. Somewhat limited menu for vegetarians but food was good and served quickly. I would definitely return.

An oasis in a sea of fast food

By LadyMargaretL |

What a great place this little wine bar is! My husband and I spent too many hours waiting for a flight at Tom Bradley Terminal and neither of us like the usual fast food places that pop up at airports. However Vino Volo was a delight. The servers were friendly and very helpful, explaining their different wines and their tasting set ups. And the food was superb! I had a glass of white wine and the small plate of smoked salmon and crabmeat. Every bite was delicious and I wished that I had ordered the larger version. My husband had the red wine tasting glasses and an equally delicious meal. We are now on the other side of the world and I can't remember his meal but he was very pleased with it. We had a very informative chat with our server about their wines and about their plans for the future, the setting was relaxed and comfortable and next time we fly though LA this will be a definite stopping place

Wine Flight Before Our Flight!

By RaymondD |

We decided to have some wine and appetizers before boarding our overnight flight to London. What a treat Vino Volo was! The staff was amazing! Everyone we encountered was truly delightful. They really seem to enjoy working here. It was very refreshing. The beverages and snacks were top notch, too. I can't wait to fly somewhere again, so I can come back to Vino Volo!

Very overpriced food and wine. Service was terrible

By mhar20 |

Not many choices for restaurants that serve alcohol airside. Food court was too busy, so decided to try this place. It wasn’t that great. The staff took forever to take my order. I got my glass of wine that came out about 5 minutes however my food took about 30 minutes. I was just sitting there waiting for my food to arrive. No one came to check on me or anything. I asked a waiter for water and he was just so rude. He said only boxed or sparkling water, I just said tap which he then replied it doesn’t come with ice. I nearly finished my wine when my pizza finally came. It was so salty and greasy. I felt I had to eat it all it was $20 and my glass of wine was $19!! I could’ve bought a bottle for that price. It was a mistake eating here, poor and unfriendly service, mediocre food, and very expensive wine. This place is a ripoff (all airport restaurants are) but I never paid $19 for a glass of wine ever in restaurant, not even a high end one.

Inattentive staff

By 703keithl |

Both members if staff constantly on their cell phones. Need to get an act together folks. Menu not explained or shown. Had to go looking for the normal drinks menu.

Good Food and Wine

By Keith D |

Vino Volo has some nice snack type food options plus some fun wines by the flight or the glass. We had a great charcuterie board plus a Pinot flight to kill an extra hour before takeoff.
