My husband and I took my son here for his Birthday dinner as my son wanted to try something new. We went on a Saturday night and the place is so small there was no place to sit inside so we sat at a high, long, narrow table outside on bar stools. The table was so wobbly the waitress had to put something under one leg to make it more stable. The menu is hard to figure out. The entrees do not include salad or vegetable so if you want those things you have to order and pay for them separately. The food was tasty but there was not much of it. I had the stuffed quail and polenta and it was good but pricey. I am a light eater and at most restaurants I take home about half of my meal in a to-go box. At Vinoteca Poscol I ate everything because there was not anything left to take home. My husband had the barbecued ribs and they served him 4 small ribs that left him hungry. My son was happy with the pasta dish he ordered but it was not a very large portion. Over all I would call this place "Trendy". If you are hungry, be prepared to spend a lot because to get a full meal you have to order and pay for each item in that meal separately. If status is more important to you than great value and good food, then this is the place for you.

Too often Americans think everything Italian should taste like Olive Garden or Bucca di Beppo. Personally, I like some flavor to my meals. We stopped in on Sunday and were rewarded with the Sunday special, suckling pig. We ordered that along with the tagliolini "Harry's Bar bechamel & proscuitto. Both were amazing. The tagliolini was a perfect combination of cheese and salt. They have an impressive array of Italian wines but the hidden gem of the night was the red lambrusco. This was both sweet and bold.

Went for happy hour...great crowd, great drinks, great service at the bar and lots of little $1 crostini. Terrific house cured goodies.

My friend and I ended at this place because all restaurants nearby where booked. We waited about 10 minutes at the bar and we got seated right away. The place is casual and small, but with a very good vibe. The service is very good, the risotto is just to die for and inexpensive. When I went back with my husband he had the fish and loved it. Great place if you want good food in a casual environment.

My wife and I look for places to try, and we went here on a Sunday evening. I knew it is a sister restaurant to Hugo's, and had driven by it hundreds of times. It sits in a strip center on Lower Westheimer and does not grab you, but it is worth stopping in to try it. It is small plate Italian, but not red sauce lasagna and ravioli Italian. My advice is to approach it with a tapas mentality - many of the dishes provide good portions for two people. The flatbread (pizza) was delicious, and our fish entree (which we shared) was quite good too. I really, really enjoyed the risotto. The wines are Italian for the most part (may have been for the whole part). BTW, bring a light source as the menu can be difficult to read in the low light. The pricing can be $$ instead of $$$ depending on what you order and whether you have wine.

Long time admirer and follower of Marco Wiles' restaurants. The old location had much more ambiance and character too plain... needs more decor and color. Great food value...everything is good to mix match and share...great specials. Long and quality wine list. Not enough choice by the glass. Many tables are too small. If you order several dishes at once. Atmosphere spoiled thinking something will fall off while eating...2 water glasses...2 wine glasses...Candle holder...glass floral vase...several food plates..schiacciatella plate....NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO MOVE ANYTHING ON THE SMALL TABLES...STRESSFULL WHILE EATING AND CHATTING...

This lower Westheimer wine bar has more to it than meets the eye. Located in an ugly stripmall, the interior is not much more promising. The wooden bare tables are scratched, the chairs not very comfortable and the decor is minimal. However, there is a certain charm to the place. The service is spotty but the food is excellent. They excel in charcuterie and have a good selection of Italian cheeses. there are multiple small dishes on the menu and every day that announce special dishes, both appetizer and main dish portions. On Sundays they serve an excellent roasted suckling pig, among the best in town. Their major strength is a well-priced and well-selected list of Italian wines that covers well the entire country. Order by the glass or by the bottle and enjoy the best the various denominations, including the islands.

This place seems to have moved, I just ate at 608 Westheimer. The happy hour is great with $4 wines and great salami and cheese. The waiter was very knowledgeable. Great pasta specials that are not the standard from what you would expect from an Italian menu. Also flatbreads, bruschetta and light sandwiches. A couple full entrees and the specials menu is great. But for the most part smaller plates and great unique pastas. I will be back.

My husband and I enjoyed a recent dinner experience with friends at poscol vinoteca e salumeria in January 2018. Our friend has been a long-time patron of the restaurant at its prior and recent location right on the Westheimer curve. I liked the textured decor of the place - simple in its execution but lending the first floor an intimate feel. We started with cheese and salumni selections - thinly sliced bresaola, la tur cheese, pecorino, and another selection - all superb paired with crunchy bread. A flatbread special was crunchy and satisfying. Two of us enjoyed the fish special, a filet mignon, and veal with rigatoni - none of which we shared! Zeppole and dates with marscapone for dessert paired with two dessert wines - one pleasantly sweet, the other a touch bitter capped our meal. Overall we had a truly enjoyable experience.

We have tried virtually everything on their regular menu and they're all winners. Favorites include the risotto with butternut squash and chicken livers, the flatbreads, the beets with hazelnuts in parchment, as well as the zucchini with mint and the pheasant pasta. Prices are very reasonable and service is friendly. The ambiance is casual and pleasant. Highly recommended.

Whoever prepared the menu here as well as whoever cooks, slices, and plates the food definitely knows something about what food is actually like in Italy and wasn't there just as a tourist..... You will not likely beat the risotto anywhere in Houston, that's for sure! Very helpful waitstaff. Private home turned into restaurant.

I really liked this place - the food was excellent and authentically Italian and I liked the ambience Very popular place here in Montrose and you have to get there early to get a table If I had one criticism about this place is that they cram too many tables in and gets rather noisy

I can never get enough of their food. Love the menu, the wine and the desserts too! I recommend this to all my foodie friends.

The menu is the same but the feel isn't. The old , small, strip mall location had more personality than where it is now. Highly recommend the zeppole paired with Donna Fugatz Pantelleria Ben Rye.

We went to Vinoteca Poscol for the first time after the symphony on Sunday, 2/18. Got there a little before it opened and they let us in and seated us. We had an excellent waitress. She explained the specials on the menu board, told us about each type of salami they make in house, the different cheeses, and the menu items. She made us feel right at home. She suggested that the 3 of us share the items we ordered which we did. We also tried a different Italian wine by the glass with each course. She gave us excellent recommendations. Started with the flatbread special. Light and delicious with cheese, salami, and mushrooms. Then the Chicken Milanese and mushroom risotto special. Best we have ever eaten. Likewise the pappardelle with ragu sauce from the menu. Had an order of bresaola and it was wonderful! Finished up with some cheeses and cappuccino. A very relaxed, fun dinner for us old folks. Excellent food and wine. Casual atmosphere. Started filling up with patrons around 6, but it never got too loud. Parking was a breeze right next door, especially since we got there at 5. We will definitely come back. Highly recommend.

I preferred the original location - don't like this house where it is now, it does not have the same atmosphere as before. Very good variety of dishes, sometime a bit too meat-centered. Nice wine selection as well although may are terribly over-priced.

This informal wine bar serves a very nice selection of wines from all wine-producing areas of Italy, including a respectable number of wines by the glass. the wines are well-priced, and wwhat's listed, is usually available. Poscol also offers a good selection of salumi, although the list has changed slightly over the years. The pate we had this most recent time (Pheasant with plums) was tasteless and unexciting. The selection of cheeses is very good. In addition, there are small plates and daily specials. As opposed to previous visits, this last time we found the place to be very loud and noisy and had a hard time conversing. Maybe it was just the luck of the draw...

Can't begin to describe how great this experience was. Read the complaints about noise and crowded tables. Don't be such a snob! It's part of the atmosphere! Not a place for a quiet fine dining experience. Go somewhere else! Great energy in this place. There was a wait but shorter than we were told!! Bonus. Can't go wrong with waiting for a table sipping wine in cold AC. Trent was a our server. He was spot on for all suggestions. We had two cheeses, a housemade salumi with condiments!! Phenomenal!! Risotto was flavorful, tender, complex, creamy, not mushy. Carrots and parsnips very unique and delicious! Flatbread crispy, light and yummy. Pasta with bologanase perfectly cooked al dente, delicate meaty flavor. The stewed dates with mascarpone to die for! Perfect macchiatos! All for less than$100. Can't beat that!! We will be back on road trip from Austin specifically to eat here!!

A wonderful meal from beginning to end! The wait staff was great and attentive. We ordered a flat bread as an appetizer, and you could tell it was homemade, even down to the sauce and the crust. They do make homemade past as well, and you can taste the difference. We ordered the zeppolis (fried dough) for dessert. Everything is bigger in Texas, especially the food. The desserts were no different!

Visited the new(er) location that they moved to closer to the intersection of Westheimer and Montrose. Started with the polenta & salami fritto. Very good and the polenta was nice and crispy without being overdone. We also had the valpolicella& regianno risotto as an appetizer for the table. This might have been the highlight of the meal (except for the main course, more to follow.) Soaking the risotto in valpolicella is a nice change from a lot of other risotto recipes. We also had three of the formaggios; Ubriaco del piave; Even though this was cow milk, this tasted like the Drunken Goat you can get from a high end grocery store. It is marinated in wine so that would be why. Next was the Pecorino ginepro; this was the highlight of the cheeses. This is soaked in balsamic vinegar and juniper before aging. Excellent! Finally, we had the La Tur. This is a creamy, spreadable cheese. It was good not great. The cheese was served with a bit of honey and candied apples. Overall, it was a very nice selection. We finished with the cheese/potato/arugula flatbread. Poscol's flatbread is almost cracker like. IMO, it's too thin. But the finale was the suckling pig with fingerling potatoes and onions. This is a Sunday only item her and it's the main reason we have gone back. Everyone at the table thought it was great. Overall, Poscol continues to serve very good food. It might be advertised as Italian and it is. But it's a far cry from what most American's associate with that style of food. It's better.

Both the taste of the cured meats and the dinning environment made me feel I was back in Europe! They cure various types of salami and smoked meats that are excellent. We also tried the mushroom risotto that was very good and the pheasant pappardelle that were also fresh and properly cooked al dente. The roman dates desert was a dream. The staff was very attentive, and they have a rich wine list. The only think they have not mastered yet is the bread (it is good, but not great)

We just went in for appetizers and wine. (Several months ago we were there for dinner and came back when we returned to Houston.) The daily specials are really wonderful. We tried the 'daily flat bread'. It had 4 different types of cheeses, spices and greens on the crispy flat bread. We also tried the selection of 3 cheeses (about 20 different ones to choose from!) to go with the wonderful crusty bread and oil. YUM! Nice wine list, fun waiter, nice bartender. Reservations would be good. We didn't have to wait but 20 minutes (no reservations) but the place was crowded and there wasn't a good place to wait. They have outdoor waiting but it was COLD and wet in Houston that night.

Like that it is not your standard Italian fare. Had the bruschetta appetizer with anchovies (kind of messy and clumsy) and the fish special (good flavors but very salty). Need to take more care on storing the wine, but cool selection.

This experience is tantamount to dining in a wine bar/salumeria in Italy. Our waiter explained the menu, designed for sharing. We let him choose their specialty, the cured meats and cheese platter, and every item was superb. It included jamon serrano (hand cut spanish ham), Tuscan garlic salame, prosciutto, and our favorite, bresasola, a cured beef tenderloin marinated in olive oil and lemon juice with a dash of cracked pepper. The crusty bread was the perfect accompaniment. The cheeses included a cows milk cheese, a goats milk cheese, and la tur, a soft mix of cow, sheep and goat milk cheese. We enjoyed them all. We told the waiter the kind of wine we like and asked his suggestion. It was perfect. Then we the shared the blackboard special schiacciate, a grilled, flatbread pizza with thinly sliced mortadella (Italian ham), tomatoes and a cheese. Our dessert choices were Roman figs in sweet red wine sauce over creamy marscapone cheese. It was an excellent combination of textures and very tasty. We also shared a light, layered riccota/pear cake and although good, the figs were memorable. This meal was satisfying without making us feel overstuffed - fresh, well-prepared food. We arrived early without reservations and had no trouble getting seated inside. By our departure at 7:30, not only was the restaurant crowded, but the small parking lot in the strip center was filled. Most diners appeared to be regulars, both those at the small bar and those at tables. It was a great meal and we enjoyed the rest of the evening at the Museum of Fine Arts, which is open til 9 p.m. Thursday nights with free admission.

As long-time customers of Poscol, we returned for another dinner. The place was packed, so we sat at the bar. The bartender was quite helpful and efficient, so it was a good choice. The wine list remains quite interesting, covering most Italian wine-producing regions, with a good representation of smaller wineries. As usual, we ordered a charcuterie tray. The Lingua remains quite delicious, but some of the other cold cuts had changes, and didn't look or taste the same. The terrine lacked flavor and the texture was not appetizing and the coppa was chewy and full of ligaments. We hope this was a temporary variation that will not be repeated; otherwise, customers will go elsewhere.

You can often get a sense of a restaurant from their bread. If they don't care about their bread they often don't about their food. The bread is fresh and Italian style and flavor. Excellent Italian red wine selections with knowledgeable wait staff. Nice meats and cheeses, good entries. I liked my mushroom risotto. the place has a nice vibe, if it's full (no reservations for less than 6 people) go back when you can enjoy yourself and sit where your comfortable. This place has authentic Italian food so if your looking for NY Italian or Chicago Italian you may not like this type of Itlay Italian, I love it.

Pros: - food was good. It was tasty and the sizes were perfect small/medium plates to share. - great value. We paid $50 for 2 people (2 glasses of wine and 5 plates) Cons: - location: it is in a parking lot and the next door stores are not very good... - wine selection is very limited, and the wines we tried were not good - service: our waiter was in such a hurry that he was very impatient and rude when we asked questions. He only stop being mean when my husband got upset to him. - the menu doesn't have healthy options. Their salads were just arugula and tomato swimming in olive oil...

My husband and I lived in South Philadelphia before we moved to Houston, so yes, we are italian food snobs! I can't believe it took a year and a half to find this italian restaurant that is compatible to the ones in South Philly. Their bolognese is the best bolognese that I have ever had in my life. Yes, I just said that. I can't wait to try their other dishes. Great service, quiet atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Went yesterday with my family for the 1st time. We loved this place. The food is really good, all the salumi are amazing. Prices are good too. The service was perfect. We'll definitely go back!!

This small Italian restaurant in the heart of Montrose has great food. I particularly like their chicken cacciatore served over a bed of polenta. Tender flavorful chicken in a fresh herb tomato sauce. Lovely. But try to make it to their happy hour between the hours of 5 and 7pm. 3 oz. glasses of selected wines served for 2-5 dollars, nice wines that are worth more, but what a bargain and cicchitti for a $1. Each cicchitti has it's own flare for the dramatic. There is egg salad with chopped asparagus, shrimp salad with chopped celery and red pepper, pork shoulder (coppa) on a top of Roviola Bosina cheese (it taste like rich creamy butter), the blueberry-eggplant-roasted pinons tapenade fresh and tasty as tapenade can be, and a real change of pace carrot and parsnip with a hint of ginger and cloves. The atmosphere is friendly and intimate.

This place was a great find! The restaurant was cozy and lively with a good atmosphere. Our server was absolutely wonderful, one of the friendliest and most professional servers I've ever had. He was definitely very passionate about food! The menu was pretty complicated and overwhelming, but he did a great job explaining it to us, so I definitely recommend asking your server for clarity on any items you don't recognize. I ordered the valpolicella & reggiano riosotto at the recommendation of our server, and it was AMAZING. So so so good and actually very filling, considering that other dishes were quite small--I couldn't even finish my plate! We had a group of 8 and made a reservation--definitely recommend reservations for larger groups.

Poscol is simply fabulous! The waiters are very knowledgeable and eager to help you with suggestions for dishes you probably would not try on your own-unless you are fluent in Italian. To start with, if you arrive before 7pm, you can have 3oz of house wine for $2.00 or 6oz for $4.00. We thought we would start with it, because what do you have to lose? It is VERY good wine, believe it or not and they have many other happy hour specials as well. The food is better even than the wine and the service! Just a few of the excellent dishes that we had-house cured bresaola and a combo goat/sheep cheese which was yummy, Beets with hazelnuts, capers and goat cheese cooked in paper-I know-but it was GREAT! Then we had the baked cod mantecato(like a spread on toast and again-I know, but oh my god-it was not fishy at all-it was divine.) We had celery root salad, with apple and horseradish-perfect-not strong at all, pappardelle(freshly made in house) with pheasant and mushrooms-unreal, and a valpolicella and reggiano risotto that I really hated to share it was so fabulous. We ended with a perfect cappuccino, dates stuffed with mascarpone in a red wine sauce, and the highlight for me-chocolate budino(an ethereal chocolate cake-sort of). We had several glasses of wine, all of that food and the bill was under $150 for 4 people! Oh, please go here-if you want to believe in heaven!!! Can you tell I am excited about this place? I cannot wait to go back and also to try Da Marco-if Mr. Wiles's casual restaurant is this good-how can Da Marco top it-I have to see!

We were just lucky to arrive 5 minutes before a big line-up developed on a Friday night. Too bad they don't take reservations for fewer than 6 people. It is a happy, noisy atmosphere. Our server nice but green-as-grass. We wanted to have the chef make suggestions, which usually works very well. However we were only brought the three specials for our group of five. Since the portions are generous, it was enough food, but we were hoping for something more inspired. We brought our own wines and were able to pay a reasonable corkage fee. The polenta appetizer was very plain, and the stuffed squash blossoms a bit tough and salty. The mains were fine. The very best item we shared was the date and mascarpone dessert. I would go back for that.

Let me warn you: same as the older brother across the street (Da Marco), this place is not for your cheap imitation Italian gunge. If you are used to the Olive Garden's, Maggiano's and similar fare, stick to those if you are not willing to pay the price of good food and embrace the true taste of Italian cuisine. Vinoteca Poscol offers a good selection of wines, salami and cheeses, and the salads and rice dishes are quite yummy. Bread is great. This restaurants aims to replicate typical osteria's offering and atmosphere, and I must say it's pretty successful. although at a price. Service is good, ambiance is ok (small place, pretty cozy, a little on the dark side..), desserts not particularly recommended although not bad: that's something they could improve on.. Will be back.

Visit with family on a Friday evening. This time we booked a downstairs table. We ordered numerous starters as can be seen in photograph and then each of us followed with a pasta dish. All of us (5) enjoyed a thoroughly good dinner with excellent service and all reasonably priced. As we are based nearby when we are in Houston we will definitely be coming back again. A great place for a family dinner.

Have been going to this place for years; love the food and the service. From small bites to huge meals, it was always a good choice.

I visited for dinner with friends, we chose to sit at the bar it was quieter than at one of the many tables. We ordered and shared the starter which we selected prosciutto, bresaola, veal tongue, coppa all which was served with fine crispy bread! We took a very fine pinot grigio from Alto Adige which went very well with the food. We shared the pasta of the day and the salmon and chard, everything was very nice. I enjoyed my evening, and I enjoyed the bar location in the restaurant.

I love this place. Great food, wine, cheese, pasta, bread, etc...Very casual, reasonably priced menu. They actually have very good wines by the glass that are capped with nitrogen to keep fresh. One of my favorites in Houston

Vinoteca Poscol, Da Marco's younger and informal sister, survived COVID and is as good as ever. On our most recent visit the interior remained unchanged, although as aa result of social distancing the tables are farther apart, providing additional privacy. The salumi remain persistently excellent. We particularly enjoyed the veal lingua (tongue), in a tart, pickled juice with sliced red onions. The selection of cheeses was very good, covering most area of Italy. The wine list also offers a broad selection, from most wine-producing regions of Italy, as well as a range of prices. The menu is well priced, within reach for most wallets. Our only criticism is that the boards used to serve salumi and cheese are longer than the tiny tables and are an invitation for accidents, with all your food ending up on the floor. Perhaps slightly larger tables would be more comfortable to the customers.

This is one of the best wine joints in Houston. The atmosphere is very cosy and the service is excellent. I was visiting with the family for dinner and we tried different cold cuts before ordering main plates. All in all the food was delicious and very well prepared. The wine list is extensive and has decent choices for every budget. I would love to return to it. Good place, highly recommended!

Step inside and you’re no longer in Houston, but a trattoria in Italy. Weekdays from 5-7 PM enjoy selections from the ciccheti bar, small 2- or 3-bite appetizers just like in Venice. At $1 a piece, you can splurge and get one of each: chunks of salami, Pecorino Toscano, bruschetta, or an amazing shrimp salad on brioche. Selections may vary daily or weekly. In addition, you can get a 3-oz glass of house wine for $2 or a full 6-oz glass for $4. Typically we order off the blackboard menu, which always features a terrine, schiacchiata (flatbread pizza), pasta, carne (meat), and a pesce (fish or seafood) specials and share all the plates tapas-style. If none of those choices appeal to you, ask your waiter to select an assortment of meats and cheeses from Poscol’s salumeria. Presented on a large wooden paddle, the hard and soft cheeses made from cow’s, goat’s or sheep’s milk next to paper-thin sliced cured meats invoke butcher shops anywhere from Bologna to Milan, Venice to Florence. Sunday evenings, go before 7:00 PM if you want roast suckling pig. A popular item with the regulars, it can run out by 7:00, and I speak from experience. Not all dishes are successful, but it depends on your tastes. We were disappointed in an eggplant caponata, highly recommended by a local restaurant critic, but in our opinion, tasted more like a blueberry compote. If the menu is too confusing, just go with the aforementioned blackboard menu or meat and cheese board, and share everything. Ignore the strip shopping center exterior next door to a washateria. After a glass of vino rosso, some crusty bread accompanied by prosciutto and soft, sweet and salty robiola cheese, you ARE in Italy. We go for romantic dinners, birthday celebrations, and anytime we want to enjoy a casual dinner with friends and family,

The food was okay but I was sick that night from it. The menu is difficult and the server was unhelpful. Restaurant was small and cramped.

I have dined at this restaurant for a couple of years, but I had not been to the new location until last weekend. I took friends who really wanted to try it because of my past rave reviews. Well, the food was very disappointing. I ordered some of my favorites like the Mantecato and Mushroom Risotto. The Mantecato was not like I have had in the past. The risotto was pretty good. New items were Shrimp, Proscuitto, Barlic and Chillies, REggiano and Prosciutto flat bread, Pappardelle and Pork Ribs. The Pappradelle and Pork Ribs were very underwhelming. Now the service....we orderred a bottle of wine and it came out warm, we asked that it be chilled. 15 minutes later we had to ask her about it and she brought it back barely chilled. I guess they don't have a proper chill machine. She poured our wine and then left with the bottle...we thought she would put in a table side container and keep it chilled. Every time we wanted a refill we had to flag her down. Now, maybe she was new, but they need a lot more training to keep up with the "bounty" of fantastic restaurants in this town. I have no plans to return. My husband hated the place. On a positive note, the interior is nice and inviting...the exterior...not so much.

Poscol was way too crowded when we tried to go there some weeks ago. On a recent Wednesday they were busy, but not at all crowded. They specialize in small plates so we shared octopus salad and some really good pork ribs. Both were excellent. The wine list offers many choices by the glass. Both reds and whites are presented as Heavy, Medium and Light, making it easier to match wine to food. I knew there was a difference between heavy and light whites, but this is the first restaurant I've visited that offered help in making the distinction. Really good place - we'll go back soon.

Excellent variety of Italian food and wines. The atmosphere was such that I thought of the time I was in Italy. Pasta dishes, wine and salads were all great.

We love this place because it offers a large number of small plates, a variety of salumi and cheeses and a very nice selection of Italian wines. There is good parking, and service is friendly and prompt. The tables are a bit small, especially if you order more than a couple of small plates. We enjoy the Salumi board, and usually order 7 or more types. When we visit with a larger group, we add a cheese board. The sliced country bread served with the boards is delicious, with a crispy crust and tender interior. The selection of small plates offers something to all tastes, from multiple salads, to cold and warm seafood, bruschetta, fried baby artichokes (the best in town!!!), and the larger plates change frequently, so keep your eye on the "black" board. Leave room for dessert! The list offers over 50 Italian wines, all available by the glass or by the bottle. You also can bring your own wine (corkage fee: $30). This is a cozy place to taste multiple dishes and enjoy a relaxed conversation with people you like and love.

This vinoteca is part of the Da Marco restaurant empire. A much more modest establishment, it sits in a rather ugly strip-mall in lower Westheimer. Inside, the place is modest, with old wooden tables that are scratched and with varnish missing at places. It looks more like a college hangout than a restaurant. Perhaps it is because of its unpretentiousness we love it. While there are entrees on the menu and on the "specials" board every night, the strength of the place are the tapas-like small dishes. For us, the charcuterie is the best in town and we keep on coming back for it. They have an excellent list of Italian wines, including varietals you don't find in many Italian restaurants. Service is basic, but with a smile. On Sunday evenings, they serve crispy suckling pig. Outstanding!

I would absolutely recommend this place to any Italian food lover... Coming from Argentina, we have a huge Italian influence... including food of course! This is by far the only place in Houston that serves true Italian recipes... Food only took 20 mins, it was super cheap ($12 per plate) and the staff was amazing!

Service was knowledgeable, attentive, and on the ball. Atmosphere was nice, relaxed. FOOD was some of the best I've had recently in Houston. Cured meats fresh in house. Great cheese selection. Faro, arugula, beet salad was fresh, great textures, flavor. Bresaola is highly recommended. Pheasant Pappardelle was comforting and so good! And then there is the roast pork (only on Sunday). By far the best I've had and I am a huge roast pork fan. Rivals Feast's pork belly easily. And then to throw the kicker.. White chocolate bread pudding. You might think I'm crazy but this hands down beats the bread pudding at emerils I had a few weeks ago. Portions are very generous so definitely keep that in mind when you are overwhelmed and want to order 1 from each course! We will definitely be back to try the remaining menu!! Plus the pork again!

This is a lovely small place to have dinner with friends or family. All the meals are really cooked in an italian way, and everyday there are some specialties that You might surely consider. Quite affordable in prices, meals sizes are good to big. Service can be better but is not so bad, if you arrive after 9pm they will probably hurry you up as the restaurant closes at 10pm. Reservations on open table available.

The salumi are still excellent: especially the lingua!!! The selection of cheeses, while limited, is excellent. The small plates are tasty and the selection of wines by the glass or bottle, outstanding. Service is prompt and helpful.

My Hubby and I loved this place, this past Friday we had a date We really emu this palace because the service is very friendly and attentive, the variety of the cheeses at another level, great mushroom Rissotto and our favorite dish is the saute calamari very delicious and great wines too

After trying to decipher the menu, we asked for translation from the very helpful and charming waiter. He explained each dish on the special board and answered questions about menu item. His advice was honest and accurate. Our table had the Osso Bucco; the pasta of the day, the fish of the day (hake and baby scallops) and the flatbread of the day. We also shared an order of the squash and chicken liver risotto. The special drink for happy hour was a blood orange Bellini, which was wonderful. The house Chianti was pretty bad, so one guest traded up for another glass. All of the food was wonderful and generous. For dessert we ordered a Neopolitan doughnut with honey, which turned out to be six HUGE delightfully light beignet like spheres. We loved those too. The location is a strip center and the decor is nothing special, but the food is memorable.

Oh my... were the words continually coming out of our mouths last night at Vinoteca Poscol. I knew nothing of this restaurant until I noticed that one of the doctors where I work took recruits to VP. Hmmm....I should try this and I am so glad I did. I will be restraining myself from eating there again this week. Twice in a week would be gluttonous....... I loved everything about this restaurant, except for perhaps the facade...which is unassuming (and that is ok), but it is in a strip center that has seen better times. Our waiter, David W., was wonderful...friendly and knowledgable. I will always ask for him. We started with the most wonderful pairing of dishes EVER.....I am now addicted to: Baked Cod Mantecato with a side of shishito peppers that were lightly fried (no batter), with a bit of seasalt and lemon. OMY.... We also tasted the Pappardelle, pheasant & mushrooms.....excellent and not too heavy. The Grouper with clams and shrimp in a white wine sauce with rapini was outstanding...could do major damage to the waistline, but worth it. An additional vedura sidedish of beets, hazelnuts and goat cheese cooked and served in parchment was good, but we were honestly too stuffed to eat it all. Great selection of wines too....I can hardly wait to return.

Great food and waitstaff in a dumpy neighborhood with valet parking. Salumi platter was delicious, we tried every variety and the presentation was impressive. Don't miss the cod dish, or the grilled cheese with black truffle. Oh my! Our guests said the Pate was amazing. And the Neapolitan donuts were freshly made and scrumptious-but the Tiramiso is the best version we had ever eaten. Not to be missed, you'll hate to share. Waitstaff attentive but gave us time to eat before bringing the next small plates. This is a gem.

We cannot say enough of good things about Vinoteca Poscol. It is always outstanding! We drive a little further to get there and it is always worth it! We love the intimate environment of this restaurant tucked away in the corner of an unassuming shopping strip. We love to start our evening with a meat and cheese plate with items like the prosciutto San Daniele, speck, salami finocchina, the la tur and blu di bufala accompanied with the homemade rustic bread. Delicious! We absolutely love the risotto valpolicella and the specials of the day. The Feudi di San Gregorio Falanghina wine is crisp and delicious. Vinoteca Poscol is a gem of a restaurant! Thank you for so many wonderful meals.

Enjoyed a family dinner. Our table was ready on arrival and we were led upstairs. The restaurant has a nice feel however it was very noisy when the dining area filled up. We were sat near a very exuberant group who were enjoying a night out but because of the design of the upstairs this affected everyone else so much so the table next to us asked to be seated downstairs. The food however was excellent and we shared the tray of Italian meats before our mains. All of our main dishes were good and portions not too huge which can be an issue in Texas. Service was good although they did forget one item of our starters. We would definitely dine there again but request seating downstairs.

These people run a proper salumeria and the stuff they make is first rate and the food is overall high quality... But the service is a bit spotty...

Small plates, medium plates and full on main courses. What a great place to sit around, drink wine, snack, and enjoy friends....

I've lived in Houston 15 years, and I just discovered Vinoteca Poscol this past weekend - it is outstanding in all ways. Try daily specials!

We walked to the new location. The light and flow of new location are great. The week day happy hour Cicchetti are 1$ each and go well with the HH wine. Ultament range of taste-- try the gran Misto 9 different meat styles.

Family + friends dinner group of 10 . Small parking area $3 valet only. Met at bar then upstairs. Drinks then nice selection of starters to share for table. Bruschetta , Hank , mortadella etc great. Strangely bread on table did not taste fresh? Wife had tagliatelle bolanase. I had chicken cacciatore on polenta . Then complementary tiramisu ( birthday) . Nice ambience, friendly knowledgeable staff . Would have been 4* but for the bread . We would try again. You should too.

This is one of our favorite casual places. This time we arrived without reservations so we sat at the bar. The bartender was very efficient and attentive, as well as helpful. We focused on the cold cuts and fried young artichokes (divine!), as well as a few cheeses. We selected (with the bartender's help) a bottle of Cancellaia: a delicious blend of Cab Sauvignon and Cab Franc from Tuscany. It was well-priced and was a great pair for the food.

They closed the old location and opened new location in same week. Housed in a nearly 100 year old house you might see similarities with Marco Wiles other neighborhood restaurant Dolce Vita. I cheer thus man who restored these houses inside Historic Avondale area. If you love the attention to detail in crafting rustic Italian food, you'll love this place. The risotto with chicken livers was delish- i really like this place. There were a few Bumps, the a/c wasn't working properly upstairs- the complimentary bread was really dry

We arrived 515pm on Sat and no wait. Waiter helpful. The flatbreads are crispy and ridged, like a potato chip! Meat and cheese plate amazing we let the waiter pick them out for use. The octopus salad just outstanding - charred and perfect chewy texture and the orange vinaigrette hit the spot. Rice with seafood light and fresh. Tiramisu creme brûlée was nice. Great place just wish they had soy milk or almond Milk for my cappuccino. Music could improve - the rap and Michael Jackson seemed out of place

Great experience from start to finish. Italian wines. Sampled two different ones before ordering one. Started with a charcuterie and cheeseboard. Oh my! Five meats and three cheeses. Loved the bresaola, fresh ricotta and robiola bosina most. Shared the pasta special which was tagliatelle in a light tomato sauce with peas and pecorino. Really wanted the Buffalo mozzarella salad, but we were perfectly sated after all the other items. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I were visiting Houston and friends suggested we meet them there for dinner. So glad we did! From the outside, I would have never even noticed it while driving by. It's in a small strip center and very unpretentious. We were seated immediately and our waiter was very quick to greet us and bring us water. We were given menus which were all in Italian. Lucky for us, our friends had eaten there many times and took the liberty of ordering for us. The food was delicious!!! It was very fresh and different from what I expected. We had baked cod and an apple salad with horseradish. Yummy!!! And you absolutely must try the dates for dessert.

We had dinner here last night on the recommendation of a friend. The food was really bad and actually made both of us sick once we arrived back at home. We had the prosciutto wrapped shrimp appetizer and it was disgusting. The shrimp tasted of dirty fry oil and there was about 1/4 inch of oil in the crock that the shrimp were plated on. The mushroom risotto was nothing more than standard rice (not arborio) which was undercooked and without flavor. We also had the pasta with bolognese sauce and it also had no flavor. We will not be returning.

We're regulars at one of their sister restaurants but had not been to Poscol in years. Once they moved to the new location, we decided to check it out. While much larger than the original, they still pack'em in... I mean really pack'em in. The first floor seems a bit jammed, especially if you're waiting at the bar for your table. Second floor is a little more open and feels kind of like their restaurant to the east. Great menu of small bites, excellent specials (duck leg the other night was superb) and a nice all-Italian wine list. This is quality Italian food!

Poscol is the little brother of Da Marco, arguably one of the top restaurants in town. It focuses on salumi, the Italian art of making sausages and cold cuts, but it also serves a number of warm dishes, pastas, cheeses and small plates. It is a perfect place for a light dinner or a solid cocktail hour combining small plates, or a cheese and salumi plate with wines. Poscol offers an extensive selection of Italian wines from all wine regions of the boot. Available by the glass or the bottle, you can taste a wide variety of grapes and styles. Service is usually friendly and prompt. Prices are a fraction of Da Marco.

Visited many times and have never had anything to complain about. Great service and awesome food. Their Sunday special is worth ordering.

Poscol recently moved down the street to a renovated old house in Montrose area--atmosphere is much better. Downer is--parking is valet only. If you want to take advantage of the great happy hour drink prices, you will have to sit in the small bar area. Wonderful bread, cheese and homemade salami choices. Ordering the side of sauces is highly recommended--very tasty with the cheese/meats. Would recommend hitting happy hour when it opens in order to be sure you get a bar seat .

We stopped at Vinoteca Poscol after dinner . The place was almost empty on a Friday evening, not a promising start. Poscol used to be packed almost every evening, but especially on weekends at the old location, across from Hugos's. I guess moving to the new location has casued some dislocation. The new place is actually nicer, cleaner and provides more space (it has two floors) than the old location. However, the old location had a special charm that is lacking in the new one. The bar appears downsized, and the rows of salumerie hanging from the ceiling have suffered much attrition. The menu remains unchanged, as well as the wine list. The place now offers valet parking, a significant convenience on that part of Westheimer. we hope customers will return in numbers to repopulate this long-time favorite.

It is not the typical "Italian" pizza place. Actually, they do not serve pizza. Instead they have delicious flatbreads (worth to try) and some other really nice entrees. I also recommend samali and a spicy prosciutto. But I also need to say that it is a sin to serve "jamon serrano" cut as thick as a finger (we needed to chew it for a while). Absolutely not recommended. Our entree was a risotto with Parmesan Cheese. Amazing! Perfect amount and wonderful taste. On the other hand, we didn't like the wine at all (even though the bottle was 50 bugs expensive). Service was average: waiters were really nice, but I needed to ask for plates when they gave us the flatbread (maybe it is the problem of going on Friday night when every place is crowed). But I will recommend to try this place for a romantic dinner or for a double date. The atmosphere and deco are really nice for that!

Went last Sunday and ordered their famous suckling pig, crispy outside and tender and moist inside, just perfect. The wine list is incredible and the service fantastic.

Who knew such fantastic authentic Italian food could be served in a sketchy strip center next to a Washateria? We had a 20 minute wait and the bar is tiny with a super busy bartender but we finally got a seat and it wasn't so bad. :-) Complaint was that our little table was set so close to the table next to us that we were constantly listening to each other's conversations. But the food was fantastic, we had the fried sardines from off of the specials board and the paperdelle pasta with pheasants and mushrooms and the sausage stuffed quail with polenta. Me and my husband shared all of it and it was so amazing! Also they have a great wine list because they have bottles as cheap as $24 and all the way up. Cannot wait to go again, this is my newest number one recommendation!

I took some friends to dinner here and we had a wonderful, leisurely meal. The salumi and cheese selections, along with small plates, allow you to create your own antipasto. Salads were ultra-fresh and the risotto and ravioli entrees stunningly good. Service knowledgeable and attentive - great wine list. Looking forward to returning!

I lived in Rome, Italy for several years. Poscol is one of the most authentic Italian restaurants in Houston. Its one of our favorite restaurants and can be trusted to deliver fabulous food and wine. We always order several formaggi, the valipolicella risotto and the Harry's Bar taglioiini. Its an intimate space and a great place for serious food and conversation.
Every bit of food was delicious.
Every bit of food was delicious. They specially made fettuccini Alfredo for my daughter’s birthday. Service was absolutely flawless, all staff wearing masks and gloves. Tables were spaced nicely. Aps- calamari, Olive bowl and then meat and cheese charcuterie board. Can choose your own meat and cheese but we asked them to surprise us and they nailed it. Dinner (4) - meatballs, Alfredo, bolognese, chicken. All were 10/10. Seriously, tasted authentic, seasoned, high quality and delicious. Felt like we were in Europe. Nailed it. Dessert - Nutella dish, tiramisu, and some kind of donut ball dish. Espresso. All were excellent. Three beers, local. Only beer and wine. Total bill was $200. Main dishes aren’t expensive, we could have spent a lot less if it wasn’t special occasion. We drove here from The Woodlands. Well worth the trip. High end food in a nice relaxed atmosphere. Will go back.
