Vintage/ Philadelphia

By Sunbreaker49 |

Always enjoy the food here; not to mention the excellent wines! I have been going here for years; almost ever time I have taken a trip to Philly. I have never been disappointed in the Vintage wine bar and restaurant.

Great wine, great food, great atmosphere... You know where to find me!

Great start for wine

By BP10001 |

Service and wine is great, food and snacks are solid. Beer choice was ok, would like more draft and less cans

Great wine; food not so much

By Gary23 |

Nice place overall, if you go for the wine and go light on the food. Good wine selection at good prices, with some interesting selections. But.... in our party of three, every one of us thought that the chef had a heavy hand with the salt shaker. Everything we ordered -- calamari appetizer, seared cod, steak frites, and duck breast -- were way over-salted.

Quiet, elegant, reasonably priced

By Bill T |

We stopped here because it was the only place in the area we could get into without a wait. Being the only place that can seat you immediately is not usually a good sign, but we were pleasantly surprised. We were pressed for time and pleased that the service was helpful and quick. It is a well-stocked wine bar with a nice selection of house wines in addition to a wide array of other choices. The beer list was pretty small, but again...wine bar. My wife and I both had the Burger Maison. It came out a perfect medium, as ordered, with a tasty sear on the outside. It had sautéed onions and gruyere, but the star was a smoked aioli that, when combined with the good sear gave it a wonderful smoked flavor. I suggest paying just a little extra to get the duck fat fries, served with smoked, truffle aioli. Crispy, with a hint of the duck fat with the irresistible aioli. One note on the service. A server coming out of the kitchen accidentally bumped into my wife. No harm, no foul, but she sent us both a glass of champagne as an apology. Unnecessary, but much appreciated.

fun little place, try the specials

By ke1960 |

We visited on New Year's Eve for their "low key" celebration. It was very nice, and the prices were more than reasonable. Service was good, and the red wine on special was particularly interesting. We had a quail special that was excellent. We also tried a few dishes from the regular menu including the beets and the seafood stew. Everything was nicely done, nothing disappointed. The menu was too predictable overall -- the chef should take more risks, because they clearly can make very good food. Thanks for the hospitality on a busy night!

Not so much for food

By cynthcore |

Wine choices were good, plenty to choose from and some interesting choices. Ambience is great, though it was really loud on a Thursday night at 8 p.m. from two tables near us. It was really tough to have a conversation for most of the time we were there. Food choices weren't for me. I ordered a vegetarian entree of buckwheat crepes and mushrooms with a spinach pesto. It was really oily and overly garlicky, and I didn't finish it. My friends liked their pate, but I don't eat meat, so my options were very limited. If I wanted to have a conversation - and who wouldn't at a wine bar - I would come here at a time when I knew it wouldn't be so crowded. And I wouldn't plan for this to be my main meal of the day.

Interesting bar food and good wine

By LassiComeHome |

Ate here recently - some good food and wines by the glass. Sitting outside was nice given warm weather and it is quite a lively area. I had the Beet pickled eggs which were interesting - see photos including menu.

Good place

After a bad dinner, I wanted a nice wine. Server knew his wines and they had solid choices overall. My only negative was that the space was louder than I like my wine bars.

Cozy pub with good bar food

We made a reservation for 3 on a busy Friday night and we were pleasantly surprised that we were immediately seated at a nice table. Drinks were good and bar food was excellent! My wife and I ordered steak frites ... perfectly prepare with really great French fries. Our friend ordered shrimp which he described as “good.” Noise level was energetic, but pleasantly so. Service was attentive. Nice place.

Stopped here while waiting for a table elsewhere and were not disappointed. Great atmosphere. The bartenders were outstanding and friendly. Had a very generous cheese plate and a flight of Rose that was quite good. The menu looked interesting and the service was incredible. A bit loud and a bit warm, but overall was a place I'd go back.

Great Food & Service

One of the best in Philly. Great food, fantastic wine selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff. A wonderful meal every time we have gone.

Great for wine, but not for a meal

By Hampsteader |

I just spent a very enjoyable Saturday afternoon here with a friend, trying some wine flights with a cheese board and charcuterie plate. The wine offering is extensive and interesting and is the main draw. The cheese and charcuterie trays had lots of very interesting and tasty condiments, but the main cheese/meat offering was average; I've had better and more generous offerings in other places around town. The actual food menu is extremely limited and I doubt very good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The place wasn't too busy when we were there, otherwise I suspect it might have been short-staffed. It's definitely a place to go for wine in the late afternoon, pre-dinner drinks, or for an evening glass or two, but I would not recommend having dinner here. The layout is configured for small parties (2-4) or sitting at the bar, so it wouldn't be good for a large group. My hunch is that it gets rather crowded and noisy on weekend nights and loses that cozy feeling it had when we were there on a chilly afternoon.

Best Wine Bar in Phii

By firemarshalbill1 |

I am always looking for local Wine bars when I travel to different cities. It is nice to find a place that has a large selection of wine by the glass when out to eat. I found this place last year and returned on my latest business trip this year. I actually had the same bartender as last time, Jameson (sp) how can you forget a name like that for a bartender. It is a relatively small location with a decent selection of food including cheese and meat plates to pair with the wine. His knowledge of the wine is excellent as is the service. The food quality is also very good. They also have special wine flights each night and will give you tastes until you figure out which wine to select. I give the wine selection an 8 out of 10. Went by myself the first night and returned with co-workers the next night. It is an easy walk form the city hall area

Sadly, Poor Tasting Food!

By Michael S |

I went to Vintage with three friends. The menu is small, but that was not an issue. Two ordered a special home made pasta with mushrooms. We started with calamari as an app. The calamari had decent flavor, but a bit salty. The entree was a disaster. There was little flavor to the pasta dish, and the finish was harshly bitter. There was no balance of flavor nor was it aided by salt or pepper. The two others had a hamburger that was okay and shortribs that were overcooked but at least had some decent flavor. All four of us confirmed the pasta was terrible! When the waitress came to check on the dinner, we told her about the pasta, but she turned her back and walked away. It was more palatable when I took some of my friend's shortrib and included it with the pasta. The waitress made no effort to correct the situation. With wine and tip, my meal was about $50. Philadelphia has excellent restaurants. Sadly, I can say this is the worst restaurant experience I've had in Philadelphia in many years. I eat out regularly. The atmosphere was pleasant. The wine was good. Don't go for the food!!

Pleasant wine bar with nice food selectin.

By LFA |

Reminiscent of an Italian Enoteca, you will have an opportunity to taste a wide range of wines, and sample some light food plates. We had the mussels and the scallops which were very good. The choice of wines was excellent. One caveat - it can become noisy and crowded.

Wonderful wine bar

By gretchenhenry23 |

We were in Philadelphia for a wedding, and a friend recommended the Vintage Wine Bar which we absolutely loved for both the ambiance and terrific food and wines.. The charcuterie and cheese plates were delicious, and the coordinated wine flights were perfect!. Our waiter was so knowledgeable and personable. and the manager was was a such a warm and outstanding professional. He helped us choose the wines to go along with the trout almondine and the yummy dessert. This was an outstanding foodie experience that we will not soon forget!

loved it!

By Anne B |

Three of us had a great time at Vintage. We were there for the wine, and were not disappointed. Staff was SUPER accommodating -- in the end, we tried 5 different wines. We ordered the cheese plate and enjoyed it. Would have stayed for dinner but the options felt too limiting. Was blissfully possible to have conversation without shouting. Will definitely return next time I am in area.

Nice restaurant near Abington hospital.

Food was good for a sports bar atmosphere and service was attentive and friendly. Would go back again!

Central, good and not rushed.

Casual spot - great small plates. You could also eat outside if you wished. Service attentive - albeit sometimes slow. Good happy hour. Another great burger place, calamari was excellent (and had the legs!!). Will be returning.

Good Ambience for Dinner

By CharlieG_10 |

As we entered the restaurant the fitout gave a good ambience especially the light fitting of wine bottles. Also the bar was set out nicely which also helped the atmosphere within the restaurant. Service was prompt and we enjoyed the food. So we would certainly return on a future occassion

Vintage is a Vintage experience

By allenr589 |

This is my second (maybe third) visit to Vintage and it did not disappoint again. Went with a co-worker this time. First few times was solo. Always when in Philly on business. Outdoor seating is cramped and not pleasant given the sidewalk and street traffic. Indoor can get busy. Still worth it. Great wine list. My colleague is learning more about wines and enjoyed the experience. Love the small plate tapas style approach to the food. The gorgonzola bruschetta was very good. Goat cheese salad very nice. All great for sharing. The chocolate flight was very good for dessert. We tried 5 different wines by the glass. Whether solo or small group or date night, Vintage is a must visit in Philly.

Great bustling atmosphere

By love2travel49022 |

Dropped in at recommendation of a friend. Nice wine list. Had yummy pate appetizer plenty for two. Limited dinner menu however food excellent. Loved the young, upbeat crowd and servers.

pre-theater dinner

By nshawk |

Great food and cocktails. Excellent wine list, obviously! Convenient for pre theater dinner and drinks. Small so I would suggest reservations if you are on a schedule, otherwise it would be a nice place to hang out at the bar and sip wine until a table is available. Vegan/vegetarian selections available. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!

good wine, mediocre food

By PhillyDoc13 |

A small and intimate setting with, as expected, a great wine list. The menu was limited, but with interesting options. I began with a wild mushroom bisque which I enjoyed. My main entree--sea scallop served over wild boar--was not as enjoyable. The boar resembled pulled pork but was richer flavors; however it contained some sort of herb or seed which I was unable to identify, and which had a strong flavor that I found unpleasant and overpowering. The scallops were overcooked and rubbery, and in addition were improperly cleaned leaving behind a substantial amount of grit. The service was reasonably good, though our waiter was a bit too chatty, and while I normally enjoy a friendly wait staff, our party found that his chatting became intrusive. This review is based on a single visit, and I do not plan on retuning here for dinner in the future.

OMG

By Bill A |

The overall experience was amazing. Everyone from the hostess (did not get her name sorry), Britain, and Ryan engaged in conversation and were genuinely interested in who you are. The wine list was outstanding, with pricing a touch over average but the pour was generous. A short but good scotch list (partial to Dalmore), The cooker of foods, as Ryan titled him, Peter Pray, knows how to cook utilizing simple seasoning to enhance the flavors of the meats. The sauces were unique, a rhubarb romulade paired with perfectly cooked duck was beyond tasty. My friend enjoyed the veal dish and it was spot on in flavor and presentation. The restaurant was packed and the service was still outstanding. Definitely a decent percentage of the patrons were regulars, which tells me the menu changes on a regular basis and is always good. Pricing very reasonable. The survey asks if this restaurant is romantic, there is a certain romance to the decor of the restaurant, which in itself makes it romantic, but it is definitely full of life and energy. The food is fine dining with mid point pricing.

I swear I had the best meal here.

Great place for drinks

By Catherine E I |

While waiting for our table at Sampan across the street, we popped over to Vintage for a glass of wine. Although it was cold, the heat lamps were on so we sat outside at the tables and had a great time. Extensive and well-priced wine list, very knowledgeable and friendly server who offered detailed and nuanced suggestions (and also maintained her good spirit despite having to come out to us in the cold), and just a great vibe. We only had drinks but I would love to go back for a fuller experience.

Nice place, Nice meal - menu and wine smaller list than expected

By Tankminder |

Stopped with my wife for dinner and a drink before a show on a Tuesday. We had reservations and got a lovely seat just inside the open windows to the street - great spot in the small but sufficient restaurant and winebar. A little cramped, but that's be expected and place was pretty crowded. Service was great. The menu was a bit limited but with some interesting selections. Suggest you check before you go. I ordered the pate/charcuterie plate and ended up settling on a burger. Both were good, I would have suggested something a touch sweet (dollup of honey, a bit of fruit, etc) to balance the charcuterie plate and heavy mustard. The fig & gorgonzola bruschetta was delicious. My only negative was the wine selection. While larger than some places, for a winebar called "Vintage" I would have expected much more. It's great that they offer, 20 or more wines available by the glass. But by the time you narrow that down to a style, Cabernet Sav for instance, only 4 were listed, and I believe only 3 by the glass. Throw away the entry-level house choice and you're down to 2. At $15 for a 5 oz pour, the Twenty Bench Cab was more than my entree but good. Still a lovely meal and a nice night. Might stop back again.

Good choice of wines and great location

By Justin_Dillon |

Popped in for a glass of wine while waiting for our reservation across the road. Welcoming, good atmosphere and a very interesting wine list. Eventually went for two glasses of Vino Verde from Portugal - at $8/glass it seemed pretty reasonable. Would happily visit again.

$4 Happy House Wine

By DublinKH |

This place offers a wide variety of wines. It costs $4 glass wines during happy hour from 4 to 6 on weekdays. Some other specials are offered until 7:00. I didn't try any foods, but waiters were very friendly and nice to sit down and have a glass of wine.

Such a pleasant surprise!

By Jay K |

Traveling through PHL for business. I'm from NYC, so I'm used to good food. That's not meant to be pretentious, just true. Anyway, stumbled across this place while checking out other places on Trip Advisor. I liked the menu & atmosphere. Nice vibe with cool music that wasn't too loud. I had the Grilled Pork Loin, Parisian gnocchi, pancetta, kale sprouts (nightly special) So good! It was a small plate and only $17, so I decided to go for dessert. The waiter talked me into the Créme Brulé and as the owner is French I decided to go for it! So good! Would definitely come back here.

Nice selection of wines and food; great ambiance

By Daniel O |

They offer a nice selection and variety of wines at reasonable price points. I saw several glasses in the $6/$7 per glass range, though most of the "better" wines were in the $11/$15 per glass range. We had some food at the bar, and while the portions were small for the price, the food was very good. The bar is beautiful and clean. It was a nice place to get out of the cold for an hour or two.

Great food, wonderful service

By smtreb |

I was here Halloween night with a friend and had a blast people watching at our window side seat. The wine choices were excellent and the cheese plate that I had was delicious. Our waiter was very engaged with us and the overall crowd is very friendly. Will definitely be visiting again!

Great little place; special food and great service team

By boyerbuckets |

I stopped by Vintage for a happy hour glass of wine and appetizer. It was so good and the service staff so great that I returned two more times during my five night stay for a conference. Menu is not large but changes regularly. Quite a few unique items on the menu. Excellent advice from the staff and excellent info on the wine. By the way, if you enjoy a genuine zinc bar, this is the place for you.

Great place to meet for a drink and a snack

By Jeff B |

Great wine and beer list, with a hipster friendly offering of Miller High Life in the bottle. We really enjoyed the charcuterie plate that was a chef's chosen assortment of meats and cheeses.

Great for People Watching

By Maryann L |

We sat outdoors on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed watching the interesting and diverse people on the street. Service and food were very good. We chose a lovely Malbec wine, fresh cut fries and the country pate. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon!

Excellent wine bar

By Jeff B |

My wife and I stopped in for some after dinner drinks after eating at an Italian restaurant nearby. The wine selection was great..and the atmosphere was perfect. This will be our go-to spot for after dinner in the city from this point on.

Great atmosphere!

By Buckeye325 |

Friends and I were checking out the area and decided to stop in for a glass of wine. The bartenders were happy to make suggestions and were very personable. Loved the decor, especially the wall of wooden wine boxes! Great experience!

Nice meal. Good wine.

By DianaPrinceww |

We were in Philadelphia at dinner time without a reservation and found ourselves knocking on restaurant doors on 13th St looking for a table. We found one at Vintage. As a bonus, we found it was restaurant week. We each ordered the restaurant week prix fixe with pairings. We enjoyed the pate and bruschetta, followed by really nice squash soup, then mussels, gnocchi, braised short rib. We had lovely wines and espresso. For dessert my husband had the profiteroles and I had the creme Brule which was very nice and intensely vanilla. The atmosphere was cozy and service was attentive. We really enjoyed the meal.

A Few Weak Notes-Literally.

By J B |

Let me start by saying that my husband and I both have a very wide range of tastes in music. We love rock, classical, alternative, blues, jazz, techno...pretty much any genre except country and most rap songs. Oh, and whatever music was playing the night we were at Vintage. It was loud and repetitive and disharmonic and put a serious damper on all of the positives of this restaurant. The atmosphere, aside from the horrid music, was really charming, from the tall ceilings with giant wine bottle chandelier (would be absolutely gorgeous if they jammed Christmas lights in each bottle and coiled them around the whole structure...) and the industrial brick wall with tiny cubbies filled with votive candles-really beautiful accents. The waitstaff was pleasant and attentive. The food was good but not great. The French fries were way too salty. It would have been nice to have bread and butter while we enjoyed our drinks (which were great!) and waited for our dinner. Great, overall, but downgraded to average because of the issues I mentioned.

my kind of place!

By Freda40 |

I love a good wine bar-cozy, friendly bartenders, and really good small plate apps to go with the wine. Had the "gorgonzola spread" (awesome) and the calamari. I asked about one of the wines and they were able to guide me. The wine was perfect for what I was looking for. They also have a nice beer selection for the beer people. Went back the next night, too! Will go again.

Great Selection!

By Michael D |

This cozy wine bar has an extensive selection of wines from around the world and some really tasty bar food. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Best wine bar in the city!!!

By Springman51d |

wine selection by the glass off the chart AND participating in 'sips' for Philadelphia. So, wine.....stupid good. Great place to grab a drink or three and just a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Everything is unique, all the way to the wine bottle chandelier.

Not really a wine bar

By Bart Z |

I found this place when I was looking for a winebar on the internet when I was in Philadelphia on a Friday night. I was not really hungry that night, so I decided to try some wine. The bar is located in 13th Street, downtown Philadelphia in a busy area full of bars and restaurants. When I entered and told them that I wanted to try some different wine, they stopped caring about me and left me alona. I got the impression that it's only about dinner here, not so much about wine. I found myself a spot at the bar and to be honest: the place looks nice. The bar was crowded and the choice on the wine list was large. Nevertheless, I could never get rid of that nasty feeling of not really feeling welcome. I tried a cheese platter to go with the wine (I had a Shooting Star Zinfandel and an Australian Shiraz) and the cheese was ok. Not more than that.

Relaxed place for wine & more

By Meredith J |

A friend and I were in Philly for a conference and met a couple local friends at Vintage. It was such a cute place, and the staff was friendly but not overbearing. We got there on the late side, after the kitchen closed, so I have no idea how the food was. However, the wine and beer list was good for out need (none of us were experts) and the atmosphere was great.

Nice atmosphere, great food.

By sun_sand_saltwater |

This is a nice little restaurant in downtown. The food is fresh and the menu is eclectic. I don't drink, so I cannot comment on the wine, but my dinner was fabulous. I started with a white gazpacho with honey yogurt and candied lavender, my entree was beet cured salmon with dill creme fraiche, and I ended with a rosemary cheesecake. I will definitely return.

Worst restaurant experience EVER

By Vivian P |

Worst restaurant experience EVER, no exaggeration. Started with an unenthusiastic and unconcerned waiter. Then 2 of our 4 1st courses were not what we ordered. Waiter was unapologetic. 2nd course ok, but certainly nothing to write home about. Third course came only to me. Found out subsequently that it was actually meant for another table. Waited 45 minutes for the others to arrive, while watching a table that came after us get the same 3 missing dishes. When they finally came, my son’s pasta was gooey and bathed in garlic and my husband’s cod was STILL FROZEN. Meanwhile, the waiter had walked past us numerous times, ignoring us consistently. He’d offered us a free drink and bottle of Pellegrino (wow), but at this point even he realized this was ridiculous and said we didn’t have to pay. They gave us their bread pudding, which was completely unremarkable. The waiter gave a completely unconvincing apology and hoped we’d come back again. Try Charlie Was a Sinner, which is right next door and MUCH BETTER. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Great place for small bite to eat and drink

By nmjr11 |

There is a nice atmosphere and nice selection of wine. The food is limited, but is generally pretty good.

Fantastic wine bar

By Nicole N |

I stopped in here late on a Friday night with my boyfriend during a recent Philly visit. We are both wine lovers, and Vintage did not disappoint. We shared a bottle of an incredible Tempranillo - we loved it so much that we took a picture of the bottle to buy when we got home. It was very cozy - lots of dim lighting and candles - and even though it was fairly busy, we had great service and were able to get a table. Well worth the visit!

Still a great place, but let them know if you are in a time crunch...

By Kimblypeg |

This trip, my husband was working a gig at the Academy of Music, and I was along for a quick trip to enjoy the city. We had thought his dinner break was from 7p-8p, so I was out shopping at the Gallery (9th & Market, and far from the hotel) when he called at 5:45pm & said his break was from 6p-7p. I hadn't thought about dinner plans yet, thought we might go somewhere in Rittenhouse Square, but now plans were in an uproar. As I raced back toward the hotel, I remembered coming to Vintage a year or so ago, and managed to find it easily on 13th between Sansom & Walnut. It was busy but not packed, so I called the man and had him meet me there. We were seated quickly, ordered soon after and were enjoying our excellent wine & apps (roasted beet/spinach salad for him, fig & gorgonzola bruschetta for me) within 15 minutes. I had been concerned that we might not have enough time for my husband to get fed & get back, but this reassured us. However, after our first plates were cleared, we sat for another 30 minutes awaiting his fried calamari & my seared arctic char. When we asked about our entrees, we were told they were being plated right then & would be out shortly. And they were--however, the calamari was not very hot at all (a big disappointment for my husband), and my plate was equally lukewarm. Other than that hiccup, the service was otherwise lovely, especially from the hostess. I just think our waiter may have gotten a little overwhelmed with a big table of choosy, chatty people in the back and forgot about us. Still would recommend this place highly if you have time to linger, and if you don't, make sure they know you are on a schedule.

after trying to eat here twice before, we finally got in. the pizza we ordered was one of the best i have ever eaten, we even watched them cook it. service was very good also.

Wine quizzo

By RikOss |

Walked into Vintage on a random night and we really enjoyed it. They have a great selection of wines and staff is knowledgeable! Also some good cheese and charcuterie to go with it. We partook in a random wine quizzo and had a good time! Would definitely recommend this place.

Stick to the Basics

By pookala |

I love Vintage for the great wine choices. However, unless you stick to some very basic menu items you may be disappointed. The French onion soup is good, the fries are good, the cheeseburger is good. After that, you're on your own. A short rib entree was just fair. Desserts were very disappointing. The staff is fine. What the waitstaff may have lacked in efficiency was more than made up for with warmth and a sense of humor. Last but not least, the noise level can get really loud. If the weather is fine, sit at one of the outside tables. They have heat lamps for chillier days. With light drinking (one alcoholic beverage) per person our bill came to around $55 per person including tax and tip.

A spectacular evening

By Lee S |

We have visited Vintage before for a glass of wine, but this time we spent the evening. It started with some wine, recommended by our waiter, Britt. We would not have chosen these selections outright, but after a short conversation about our taste in wine, he hit the nail on the head. After some time we got the charcuterie appetizer and spent our time enjoying the play between the food and the meat assortment. When it was time for dinner, we chose the skate wing and the flank steak. Both were well prepared and flavorful. The espresso dessert was amazing too. The bottom line is tha we spent three hours eating and drinking wonderful food and wine in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. We will surely be back!

I was shocked to see some of these reviews...

By the_farmers_wife54 |

I'm glad I went to Vintage before I read these reviews... This was my second trip to Philadelphia (and Vintage). It has quickly become one of my favorites, a "must" on all my research trips. For Philadelphia, the prices are absolutely fine and reasonable. The happy hour specials are a deal and their artichoke chips, burger, and fries are delicious. The staff is wonderful, quite attentive (one night I ate at the bar and another night at a table and got impeccable service each time). Some have said that if you want a true wine experience, go to Tria. I do like Tria (it is also one of my 'musts') but it is often very crowded, noisy and . And, maybe, I'm not enough of a wine connoisseur to really have an opinion on the different wines. I really appreciate the calm, cool environment of Vintage.

Great wine and amazing food

By Trendy_Explorer |

Great wine bar with amazing tasting selections. They have Ana amazing chef that makes great dishes. Just make sure to pair with recommended wines to enhance the experiences. Beautiful space and personable staff. Enjoy the conversations and people.

amazing wine and food!

By Melmel79 |

This is a great wine/tapas like restaurant/bar. Many different wines to choose from including 'flights' which they poor 3 oz. portions of 3 different wines for you to try. Amazingly friendly wait staff. Food was delicious. The cheese plate and fennel garlic meatballs were my favorites, though it is all good! I always went for happy hour when the house pours are only $4! Overall it will be a bit pricier with wine and food. I went twice, when I went with a friend we ordered between us 4 glasses of wine, a flight, and two dishes...it was about $78 total. When I went solo, 3 glasses of house pour during happy hour, two dishes ~$38.

good food, bad staff

i am a regular at vintage, the people are great, the food always tasty, the wine selection is perfect. the only i would change about this place is the bratty brunette behind the bar-kate plus 8 different personalities.

Love this place. Every time I go here I have a place. It's small and quaint so it's not good if you have a super large party but it's got great vibes. The bartenders are nice. Prices are average.

Wine flights!

By Kristi B |

Stopped here Labor Day weekend. 6:30pm. Place was dead but picked up about 7:30. Service great. Cozy table up front. Very small table though...wish they were a tad bit bigger. People watched & shared a burger and duck fat fries. So good. Hubby had a red wine flight & I had the rose wine flight. Both were great. They also had a white flight and I think a french wine flight. Highly recommend if you are a wino.

Take "Flite" with Awesome Wine Flite and Fine Food.

By TommyBoy94 |

So another terrific candidate in downtown Philly for wonderful Lyonnaise inspired French food and another competitor in the great Philadelphia burger wars. Service was terrific. Table can get a little cramped, but servers are pretty much magicians when it comes to clearing things off and replacing plates and glasses, so clumsy people like me don't elbow anything off the table. Onion soup, always one measure of a fine French cafe, was terrific. But one quibble here...and not to be too cheesy with my comments...they could have used more cheese, though cheese they did have was really good. Broth of the soup was terrific, with a bit of sweetness to it. Burger Lyonnaise was one of the best. Again, as I said, another aspirant in the great Philadelphia burger wars. Meat used was exceptional. And great with egg on top. Fries...thin and crisp and especially French. What's not to like? And the steak frites??? Oh boy. I was skeptical when they didn't bring out a steak knife but the steak (not thick cut) was already sliced into pieces and those slices were tender enough to cut with a bread knife! Nice Bordelaise sauce as well. The flites of wine were just so good and so well paired with the food. Look up the white wine flites. 3 glasses of goodness from France, Spain and Italy. All dry, subtle and full of flavors. All well described on the menu, under each glass and by the server. And (back to the steak) as to not being too tough, the prices were tender enough for downtown Philly. 1 Jack Daniels, one generous glass of Pinot Noir and the Flite of 3 plus the soup and the 2 entrees for under $100 before tip. Will return.

Great Service. Unimpressive Food

By Catman903 |

After being told Sampan had a 2 hr. wait we went here instead as it was across the street. Our waitress was extremely polite and intuitive as she anticipated requests and made sound suggestions where necessary. Unfortunately this is where the good experience ended. The food was beyond unimpressive and lack flavor or refinement. My wife had the shrimp crepes and I had the sea bass. The sauce on the crepes literally had no taste and my sea bass tasted like something out of a chain grocery store. For the price this fell well below its comparison group of restaurants.

One of my favorite Philly joints!

By Jessica R |

Everything is so flavorful and the atmosphere is great too! I've had the burger, the duck and the cheese plate and I highly recommend all of them! I get excited to go back and try more on the menu. The waiters do a good job explaining what is what and suggesting what to order by describing the taste. OH and a great wine list! Not too mention their prices are fantastic, the duck was only $18

Good wine and lovely appetizers

Vintage is a fine little wine bar on 13th street in downtown Philly. The wine list is carefully chosen, at reasonable price points, and they have interesting vintages you won't find elsewhere. They have a knowledgeable wait staff if you aren't a wine snob. Don't miss the marinated olives. Yeah, they are a staple at wine bars, but they not only marinate them in house, they are really picky about the olives they chose: they are fleshy and fresh and delightful. the salted beets are fresh and interesting, too. The decor is cute, and the outside tables are great for people watching or taking a break from wandering downtown Philly.

The best for bistros, cafes, pubs and wine bars with outdoor seating. We loved Vintage; they had a great happy hour and good prices in general. Excellent service!! Went back several times.

Superb beer, wine and food with French flair

By CanuckOz |

We chose Vintage ahead of time online because it was near our hotel and we liked the "French American" description plus the wide selection of beer and wine. Although we had no expectations, it was a superb choice. Staff were helpful - but more importantly, knowledgeable, and the charcuterie plate is the best we have had, including a pate to die for. Wine pairing suggestions were spot on, including tastings to prove the point. Absolutely a winner, and reasonable priced.

Why Did I Wait So Long to Try?

By xapifafa9 |

It was a Wednesday night and I popped in after seeing a movie. I've been meaning to try this place for years; but for some reason never did. Well, I've missed out during these years. Okay, they weren't too busy. I sat at the bar and ordered the foie gras plate with which the bar tender paired a fantastic red. The foie gras was absolutely delicious and so was the creme brulee that I had for dessert. The staff was friendly and efficient. Great experience. I recommend this spot for a date, even business drinks, and obviously for dining alone at the bar!

Where's the Cook!

By MarshallMarshmellow |

Relaxing ambience and good wine selection, just don't plan on being fed anything worth eating. I trully doubt there is an actual cook employed at this establishment; food tastes as if it was microwaved by an incompetent. In addition to bland, mushy food -- cold centers and lukewarn outside. Where was the cook?

Great bar with delightful atmosphere, decor and drinks

By nylady21 |

The brick wall, lovely wine bottle chandelier and well-designed bar make this a great place for Happy Hour or dinner. The meat and cheese duo was a great deal from 4-6. The Fruits de Mer appetizer had a delightful collection of seafood and vegetables, all gently coated and fried to perfection. Vintage has a great selection of wines, a full bar and some delicious, creative cocktails. The noise level is low and very conducive to conversation.

Awesome drinks with great service.

By Meg M |

My husband and I were looking for a martini spot and stumbled upon this wine bar. We had a great experience. My husband drank martinis and I tried one of the many flight specials they had - a rose flight. The wines were DELICIOUS and reasonably priced for a city establishment. The service was even better - the bartenders were great and attentive. We did not try the food but if ever back in Philly, will absolutely check out the dinner menu. Seemed like a lot of regulars stopped in as well - not too touristy. Will be back!

Friday Night Wine

By Kevin Gibson |

Came here looking for wine and conversation with friends, was not disappointed. We had a few red wines. The house Pino Noir was $6 which is my current favorite. Atmosphere and music was spot on for a nice evening out. There is lots of seating at the bar and 2 person high tops, so date nights with quick seating is possible. There is a street side seating area with heat lamps, but being the dead of winter only smokers took breaks out there. During the warmer seasons this is a popular seating area as the 'Gayborhood' has great people watching. One of the best areas in Philly and could see taking the ladies in my family here. Later on we added the cheese plate to the drink order which came out with paired fruits and bread. The cheeses were explained and I was extremely impressed that they had raw milk cheeses. I thought in the US that we could only have pasteurized cheese and needed to go to Euro to try a true cheese. Save the plane ticket and stop here instead. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Great overall experience, will have to come back to try their dinner service.

Great happy hour

By Dana S |

I didn't eat here - we came for happy hour and enjoyed ourselves. The sangria was only $5/glass and the wine specials were about $4-$6/ glass until 6:00. Funny thing is that the crowd showed up around 5:45. We started talking to strangers and really enjoyed the conversation. This place draws a great crowd and it's the right kind of people. I would definitely go back!

Great food good value

By Lynn G |

We picked this bar at random looking for a quiet meal and drink in Philadelphia. It turned out to be the perfect spot, excellent food (calamari, veggie burger) and wine at really good prices with friendly helpful staff and a nice ambiance. Such a welcome change after recent NY dining. Thank you we will be back

Delightful mid afternoon meal!

By cjckc |

Girls weekend in Phillie! We just happened upon this delightful bistro. Wonderful French-American menu. Wine menu consists of 60 glasses of wine from around the world. Both outdoor and open window seating. The manager Brittan helped us with both food and wine selection, so helpful and engaging, made us feel very welcome. We shared a fruit and cheese plate, salt roasted beets, and fig Gorgonzola bruschetta. Nice presentation and DELICIOUS! Perfect mid afternoon dining experience.

Non-standard wines, good food and service

By GiacomoUno |

That more or less says it--this is a warm, comfortable place, exposed brick and lots of wood. The wait staff are attentive, friendly and knowledgable. The wines included a number of varietals I've never seen on a wine list, and very few of the "standards" of wine lists. We had two different reds, one from the Loire Valley and one utterly unfamiliar Bordeaux, both lovely. We started with the fig and gorgonzola bruschetta and then had their very elegant "hamburger", with morbier cheese and a bacon tomato aioli. All very good, and the server, Britain (I'm spelling it that way because he said "like the country" but he likely was simply talking about the pronunciation) was great.

Nice, small restaurant

By Susan F |

I went here while at a business conference at a nearby hotel. The service was very good and very fast. All I had was calamari and mussels, but both were good, hot and reasonably priced. The broth for the mussels could have been more flavorful, it was just a plain broth. I sat along the wall in a tall chair which was not particularly comfortable. I should have sat at the bar, it looked better. Overall, good value for the money, but nothing special.

Good pit stop

By Erin S |

I marked this one as average because it was good, but didn't jump out at me. I did like the fennel salami on their charcuterie board. That was memorable. But about it. It was a good place for us to perch while waiting for our reservations at El Vez. Friendly staff, pretty bar.

Best Wine Bar in Philadelphia

By TR45 |

This little wine bar on 13th, just south of Sansom, is a jewel. It is cozy and welcoming with a thoughtful wine list that changes regularly. Moreover, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about wine, particularly the (now) General Manager Britain, who loves and knows the wines he is offering. This should definitely be a place you spend an evening.

Excellent food & wine choices in a nicely appointed atmosphere...

By Kimblypeg |

My husband & I were in Philly overnight for the US/Turkey "friendly" soccer match (for him) & a day visiting museums (for me). I hadn't done much research for our dinner "date night" but when we searched online for affordable restaurants in the downtown area (we stayed near the Convention Center); Vintage came up & seemed like a good match for us. Excellent choices of wines by the glass, & smaller plates of decently priced simple foods & specials--we had a hard time deciding between them all, but luckily they are priced well, so we got a few things to try and share. The standard menu is full of lovely things to have with wine, & the specials were also very good. Service was very attentive and atmosphere is lovely. Only drawback is that the area or strip that the restaurant is in (Washington Square?) seemed very busy & trendy, which was not our thing, and there was some distracting flash photography and loud women at the bar. However, we walked right in at 8pm on a Saturday night, got a two-top with no problem, sat near the back, and once the flash cameras stopped, we were perfectly happy. If wine & small plates are your thing, and you are staying in downtown Philly around the Covention Center, this is an excellent choice.

Cool neighborhood wine bar

By Carlo |

Can't believe this place isn't busier. I stop by, and it's never as packed as all the other restaurants in the neighborhood. I guess this is a good thing. In any case, a friend & I had the mussels the homemade spaghetti special, which contained beef cheeks, wild mushrooms & a poached egg. It was really good. We also had some chocolate cake made w/ some sort of local beer. Also very good. The one complaint I had was with how the mussels were served. They brought them out on this tower w/ an empty bowl on the bottom, the mussels in a bowl in the middle, and the fries on top. It made for some awkward maneuvering trying to avoid knocking anything over, and it made it very difficult to dip the fries in the mussels. Oh well. Just a small thing. At least the food was great. I will definitely come back here to try more stuff.

Great Wine Bar

By firemarshalbill1 |

Stopped by here for an early dinner and to sample some of the over 60 wines by the glass. The bartender Jameson (just like the whiskey) reviewed options and my likes and provided samples until I found the ones i liked. Thanks. Very good option for a wine bar in Phili. Oh yeah the food was also very good

Loved this place. Unbelievable wine selection and I found the bartender very knowledgeable and friendly. Also loved being able to sample and purchase flights. Not too crowded which was nice too. Had a lovely appetizer - brie with caramel and pears - that was really enjoyable too.

Vintage Wine Bar and Bistro a great place to eat

By liverbird239 |

We are visitors to the city and did not know where to go for food. By chance we passed the Vintage and decided to go in. Best choice we made. The burger and fries were very, very good. The General Manager Britain Burgos was more than helpful in explaining the menus. Realising that we were new to the city he took the time to sit with us and tell us what was going on in the local area. He also drew us a map showing where the attractions were.

Great Spot

By jenia1019 |

Came here last night with my husband for some wine and cheese. The cheese plate was wonderful and the presentation was spot on. They have great happy hour specials too! The bar food specials all looked very interesting too. The lady next to us was eating beet pickled eggs..

Interesting and unusual wine

Actively checking vaccine status. Wait staff wearing masks (mostly). Great choices of unusual wines. Food very good. Interesting appetizers and fantastic burger. Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Love this place. Only had dinner once and enjoyed it. Have stopped in for wine and a snack many times. Large wine selection with knowledgable and friendly servers. Once it started to rain as I was leaving and the bartender gave me his umbrella. Lovely atmosphere.

Great night

By aidan98 |

A buzzing night spot- we were welcomed with 2 children. Many were having just wine- but we had full meal. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and super friendly. A-mazing arugula walnut goat cheese salad- huge portion size- which was good because everyone wanted some! Ps please post your salad dressing recipe :) Calamari was nice too- We paired wines and amazing craft beers with each course- they even have a rotating cask offering. Flank steak, duck and scallops all delicious- moules frites were good too. Finished with desserts that were uber decadent- go for the chocolate cake. Everything was priced quite reasonably. All in all- best meal in a long time- thanks Philly!

Nice find "stumble upon"

By EAN_Diver |

After a very long day I wondered in. Staff was very nice. Wine list is not too shabby and the nice lady behind the bar new her wines and was very helpful. I only had the mussels, and they were great. Get the white wine ones. All in all I was very happy I walked in. The music was for a little younger crowd, but it was not loud and made for a little something different.

Great wine

Went for drinks and fell in love with the wine flights. Really enjoyed the wine selections. Enjoyed a fun happy hour sitting outside on the sidewalk. Pleasant, helpful staff.

Great food, drinks and service

By jayjay85 |

I found this bar by doing a random Google search. The menu looked good so I went to try it out. The weather was nice so I decided to sit outside. Our waiter was very friendly and explained the various specials for the night. I ate the Calamari and my boyfriend had the Vintage Burger.... both great options. We washed it down with a house wine that was delish. Our waiter, I think his name was Mike, suggested the pecan pie/cake for dessert... This was sooo good! We had a great experience here and will go back when we get a chance.

Just what I wanted

By dbern |

I was staying at the Marriott a few blocks away and looking for a comfortable place to eat alone. The service was great - I had the squash soup and oredered a burger the low carb way (no bun, no fries, side salad) and they brought it just as I ordered. I had the 'happy hour' Pinot Noir and Cab... both were fine. If I had wanted better I could have ordered off the wine menu. Also a smalll thing, but when I'm ready to go I hate waiting for the bill - they were right on it. All-in-all a good experience with great service.
