This is the sixth time I have been to Vista Peru and it is absolutely my favorite place to eat out. Their Pisco is the best I’ve ever tasted and everything I ordered was absolutely authentically Peruvian.

Right in the center of old city. Tight place but sound level was ok. Huge Peruvian menu. Several in our group spent time in Peru and were excited about the diversity and authenticity of the menu. Went with classics. The beef saltado was good but not great and too many fried potatoes. My friends seafood grill was decadent but the sauces didn’t pop. All was good but nothing was great…except for the fruit flavored pisco sours. Delicious!

The cevice was delicious, but the rest was ordinary for the price. The wine was expensive and we were warned that after we had served the first dish that our choice was not available. We expected a lot better.

My family and I ate at Vista Peru in May 2021. Oh my, the food was very delicious! We ordered sweet plantains, beans, and grilled seafood as the main. Food: scrumptious and flavorful. We loved it! Amazing seafood and the dishes were made to perfection. Service: professional and courteous. Decor: cozy and low key. Cost: fair, reasonably priced.

The food is delicious, the wait staff extremely helpful and informative. We ate on first floor, but there is a pisco bar on second floor we hope to try next visit- same food is served upstairs. Try the cebiche!!!

We stopped in specifically because we were looking for something different. As soon as I saw they had Ceviche I knew exactly what I was going to order. My girlfriend checked the menu and was going to order Ceviche as well but then she saw they had goat on the menu and she decided to give it a try. We were both pleased with our meal. The ceviche had shrimp, calamari, and pieces of fresh fish served in a spicy sauce. It was so good! My girlfriend’s meal was served with some white rice and beans. She said the goat was tender and flavorful. We really enjoyed this place and we’re glad to stop in.

the food es food they jace the home made taste Peruvian food plus Lucuma ice cream totally recommend

We started off with the good old ceviche and wow it is amazing. It's probably my favorite Peruvian ceviche I've tried anywhere. The flavors just explodes and made me wish we ordered the other ceviches on the menu because that was definitely the best part of the dinner. For the main, we decided get the lomo saltado, sopa de mariscos, and the whole chicken and just shared. To be honest, nothing really really stood out. There's so many standout Peruvian chicken spots in LA that we were comparing it to, probably didn't really give it a fair shot. Our waiter recommended the sopa de mariscos, and the sauce that came with it was very good, but couldn't help but wonder we probably would've liked the garlic-heavy dishes a bit more after trying the sopa. Service was good with friendly staff. Our side salad didn't come out on time but that's the only bad thing I can remember.

Last week I had the pleasure to dine at Vista Peru, a wonderful Peruvian restaurant in Old City Philadelphia. We were a group of three and each of us truly loved the authentic cuisine and the beautiful decor of this very lovely place. There are five to six cebiches, and we loved the one we chose: fresh, varied seafood in a delightful lemony marinade. We also had the cow heart, which was tasty and with great potatoes on the side. My soap de mariscos was spectacular as were the other two entrees I sampled. The shrimp in garlic sauce was among the best I've ever had. We would have liked to sample the desserts but we were too overfed to even consider them Perhaps next time when we definitely will return.

My husband and I stopped in here for some Ceviche and drinks. The octopus in the ceviche is the most tender octopus I've had ever. The cocktails are strong and delicious. Service was great and atmosphere friendly and chic. We also tried beef heart for the first time and it was surprisingly yummy. Only reason I'm not giving 5 rating is due to prices. I do think portions are small for the money and is not th best value.

The bartender and the drinks are absolutely amazing and delicious. We had the best Service ever. We were visiting from out of town and the friendliness of the bartender, as well as a servers made our experience absolutely amazing. We ended up staying here for several more hours, and we plan to do to the service and the food and beverages. I would highly recommend that you come here when you’re sitting at the bar or you’re sitting at a table it is an amazing friendly, welcoming place to visit.

The lobster and octopus ceviche was one of the best dishes I have ever had anywhere. The pisco sour was perfection. I could have gone back there every evening.

I was taken there for lunch by a friend from Lima. It's his go to for Peruvian restaurant in Philadelphia. You'll have to take his word that it's authentic and mine that the food was good and the service great. My only issue is that it seemed somewhat pricey. Lunch for two, which did include two rounds of pisco sours, ran $124 (tax/tip included).

Its like walking into a Peru minus the Guinea Pig. The place is tastefully appointed, the Pisco sours are very good, the Ceviche as good as I have had. Paella (for one) was handled beautifully as was the Red Snapper. Their ice cream is somewhat novel. The wait staff was quite good. I'm coming back.

I lived in Peru for two years and fell in love with the cuisine, especially ceviche! This little GEM of a restaurant has the best ceviche I have tasted! Super fresh fish and imported ingredients- in a quiet and impeccably clean space with warmth and charm.

My husband found this little gem on a walk from our hotel in downtown Philly. We took a chance without a reservation and they were able to seat us (it was early). By the time we left the place was hopping, and it was a weeknight. Our waitress was terrific, she was helpful with the drink and food menu as Peruvian food was not our usual fare. Everything was delicious, from the Pisco Sour (with some passion fruit liquer) to my octopus, best I've ever had. My husband's ceviche and paella was also tasty. The dessert topped off a wonderful meal and service. Don't know if I'll get back to PA, but I'd go there again without hesitation.

My wife and I had lunch at Vista Peru. The menu was full of Peruvian specialties, including traditional lomo saltado, potatoes, nice selection of seafood dishes and meats. The goat was tender and flavorful and unusual. The seafood dish was delicious and full of fish, shellfish, shrimp and calamari. There was no lunch menu - only one menu for lunch and dinner, but the price was reasonable and the portions large. There is also a wide selection of cocktails including selections of pisco. Great choice in Old City.

Delicious and authentic. Any of the ceviches are absolutely amazing. The chicken is good but a bit bland after the ceviche. The Chicha Morada is wonderful and truly flavorful.

Excellent traditional Peruvian food with first class attention. The varied music of Peru that shows the great cultural richness. We were a group of 6 teachers and highly valued this cultural experience.

Highly recommend. Walking down 2nd street by myself on a business trip and decided to try Vista Peru on a Thursday night. Unassuming from the outside. Clean, neat, stylish and new looking inside. Back 1/2 of the restaurant was full. Good sign. Ordered the Ceviche Classico as appetizer and the Paella as the entree. Both really good. Ordered ceviche medium spicy and it was more than enough heat. Acidic and spicy. Red onions mixed in. Very good. Paella had lots and lots of small calamari rings and small shrimp along with half a small lobster in the shell, 3-4 muscles and 3-4 clams in the shell. More than enough. Served in a steel single sized serving pot. Very good presentation. The Argentinian cab was good. Ceviche $15 - enough for two. Pallea $25. Good value. A small mis-queue on service. I waited for about 10 minutes to be asked for a drink, while waitstaff walked by me numerous times. Don’t think I had been assigned to a waiter/waitress. Once they realized their mistake the staff was truly apologetic and the service was very attentive. Their sincerity and the quantity of the meal made up for it. If not for the service mis-queue would be a full five stars. Wish there was an option of 4 1/2. Will go back on next trip to Philadelphia.

We visited Vista Peru on a Saturday night in a party of four after reading several positive reviews from TripAdvisor. I was also aware of some negative reviews, but after our visit we agreed that none of the negatives still occurred and didn't apply. We made reservations ahead of time and were seated upstairs within five minutes. The decor is impressive, full of Peruvian touches and with an elegant vibe. We were seated at a table located in an aisle-way, but at no time did we feel cramped or anxious of the staff activity around us. The cocktails were well-made and suitably strong for the price, and the selection wasn't overwhelming. The appetizers were delicious; the Cebiche Clasico was fish marinated in lime juice and was very mild and super fresh, a real home run. The Causa con Pulpa de Cangrejo (potatoes and crabmeat) was a pleasing texture but a bit bland for my taste. The entrees that we shared included Picante De Mariscos (Mixed seafood, spicy cream sauce, rice), which was delicious and fresh without skimping on the shrimp. The Lomo Saltado (Peruvian seasoned steak, tomato, onions mixed with french fries, served with rice) was perfectly seasoned and tender. The Paella Marinera (Seafood, lobster mixed with rice) was the star however. The seafood was well-cooked and ample, the seasoning was just enough to bring the flavors together, and the rice was tender with a great texture and taste. It tasted as good as it looked, which was beautiful. I'd return just for that, but everything else was fantastic as well. Service was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable; our server informed us that a coconut infusion wouldn't mix well with the cola in one of the cocktails and that the paella would take a bit longer because it is made from scratch. The dishes came out together, the food was phenomenal, and the manager even stopped by to check in. Overall, this was one of the best meals/experiences we've had in a restaurant and will surely return next time we're in the city. Don't miss this gem of a an establishment.

With a love for Peruvian cuisine it was a no brainer to try this new Philly favorite. The drinks were terrific ( pisco sour is a must) and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the ceviche. Light, and full of flavors! The Lombo saltado was spectacular and if you want to to try it with the Rissoto, well it was just as good! Highly recommend for anyone trying to get a taste of authentic Peruvian food!

Having lived in Peru and love great Peruvian food, my husband and I had to try this new restaurant in Old City Philadelphia. It was great. I loved my Pisco Sour, the ceviche was amazing and service was wonderful. We can't wait to go back and try some of the other entrees (and other drinks from the great bar.)

Wow! 4 nights in Philly and we ate here twice, it's that good. Nathan Logan runs a great crew and is personable and committed to the quality of the food. The Jaleo seafood dish, the seafood paella, the seco nortenos (goat) were excellent, incredible dishes! Not to mention a lot of food and very reasonable prices. The paella was $25 and so huge that I barely managed to finish half, even with my husband's help. I almost cried leaving some calamari and octopus in the rice, but managed to squeeze in the lobster and crab claws. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff, cold beer. Go see for yourself!

We live a block away and were excited about a new place opening in the neighborhood. Hostess took 8 min to verify we have a reservation, asking “are you sure it’s the right name”, us showing her res on the phone, giving her first and last names, standing aside for the next guest, then her finally deciding she is seeing it on the list. Incredible. She then proceeded to ask if we need a cocktail menu because giving it to us with regular menus would appear too much to her apparently. Seated at the tables that was put together for a larger party with other two tables, then the hostess proceeded separating them while we were trying to actually get seated. Vista Peru ceviche wasn’t described on the menu although considering it was their premium dish and double the price of the classic ceviche, that also lacked description, it was odd they decided to list no ingredients at all. Two sauces were served in a small dish with nothing to go with which was a laughable afterthought. Fairly disgusting small plate with what best can be described as undercooked popcorn was placed on the table. Random sliced avocado served with our appetizer, didn’t go with it and also looked fairly overripe to be served as a whole piece. Completely unappetizing. Appetizer with mash potatoes was clearly premade. Although the menu lists tune, chicken and whatever else associated with that appetizer, none of that actually correlated to reality because if you order crab meat with cold mash potatoes that’s actually what will be served. Neither chicken nor tuna are other two choices. Whoever wrote this menu never talked to the kitchen. When the mains arrived we figured what the sauces previously served were for. Their purpose were to make the food at least barely edible and it actually helped. Entire operation seemed as if a bunch of teens decided to run a restaurant and they weren’t a particularly skilled bunch.

I walked by this restaurant after work and had a hankering for ceviche so I decided to give it a shot. I ate at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and accommodating. I got ceviche mixto and it was superb. I look forward to coming back with my friends and family. This restaurant is a welcome addition in old city!

Food was excellent and portions were large. Wait staff was very helpful and informative about the food selection. Service was very timely and professional.

The service and the place are great and I would love to say same about food . Our ceviche come on generous portions and no doubt food was fresh but overpowering cilantro and lemon spoiled the dish. The paella (since when is a typical Peruvian dish?) was disappointing: a big lobster shell with no pulp and tough shrimps floating in a sea of budget rice.

This was my first truly Peruvian dinner and I think they nailed it. The fish ceviche was amazing - very fresh and they helped me to make the right choice for spiceness. From the bar, I got a mini course in Pisco and tried the Pisco Sour and the Piscola. Miguel was kind enough to explain all of the Pisco options... This place is going to turn me into a Pisco aficionado! I definitely recommend this restaurant. It may be a hidden gem on 2nd right now, but I bet it becomes a destination spot soon.

I have been to both of their sister restaurants and they are authentic and delicious. I went with my wife today for Lunch. It was my birthday and I was looking forward to several dishes. We were sat and our drink orders taken. ~ noon. The place was empty, literally. We then decided up Causa Limena, Yucca Frita w/ huancaina, and Pollo a la brasa w/ fries. Few mins later we are told they do not have chicken ready. Thus, we cannot order any chicken dish on the menu. We promptly asked until what time and were told 4 pm. Why have a chicken on the menu then? Sheesh, what a disappointment. I am Peruvian and this fits the mold of "Peruvian Time" ( if you know what I mean, then you know what I mean). Oh well. We had to leave at that point. So I am giving a TERRIBLE rating for service and lack of communication and commitment to the menu. Worst of all it was my birthday and I did not get to drink a nice cold cusquena. :(

We went here after a recommendation from someone at a tourist desk. It was excellent. The food was really good and the staff were super helpful. Excellent restaurant.

This was my first experience with Peruvian cuisine, and having read mixed reviews both by fellow diners and the press, I nevertheless came with good expectations and interest. Dinner started out well, our table of four curious diners tried the mixed ceviche---fish, squid and shrimp were well flavored in lime juice and thinly sliced red onions---accompanied by huge kernels of bland corn and a chunk of sweet potato. The "causa" with avocados and crab was also flavorful, discs of yellow mashed potatoes encasing creamy crabmeat. The slices of avocado on the side, though good looking on the plate, did not add much flair to the dish. The main courses were less successful---the "jalea" of crisp fish filet, other seafood and cassava was generous but lacking in distinction. Grilled shrimp though well seasoned was slightly overcooked; the side salad was, however, refreshingly and simply dressed, and the fried ripe plantains greaseless. Grilled octopus, paired with asparagus and served on a hot plate did not excite, and the whole red snapper in a tomato broth was declared simply "acceptable" by our dinner mates. Desserts were also disappointing: the purple corn pudding was more of a watery, berry-colored fruit compote---the flavor of pineapple bits overwhelming any taste of corn; ice cream made from a native Peruvian fruit was similarly lacking in distinctive flavor. Service was pleasant and our waiter was unfailingly helpful in describing ingredients and making suggestions. Wish the food were better.

Came for a dinner and ordered the 1/4 chicken dish. The chicken was good, the fries plentiful and the salad good for me. The real treat was the mazamorra morada for desert. The interior decor is impressive, the service prompt and the prices reasonable.

Loved it! The lomo saltado is delicious. We also had pisco sour and ceviche. I am definitely coming back.

For seafood lovers! I was not familiar with Peruvian food. This was a wonderful surprise. My husband and I shared a potato, avocado and seafood tower as an appetizer and a seafood paella as an entree. They were both so flavorful and delicious! The paella had lobster, shrimp, muscles and clams. Usually there’s not enough seafood and too much rice. Not here. There was so much seafood! We asked for some hot sauce on the side and it added a little kick to our food. The pisco (Peruvian liquor) cocktails were amazing! I had a passion fruit cocktail that was a perfect addition to my meal. The servers were friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and try out this little gem.

My wife and I had dinner here. Everything was very good.I was more impressed by the authenticity. The Anticuchos were really beef heart (and good). It’s really hard to find them in the US. They also had lucoma ice cream! I’ve never seen that in a Peruvian restaurant in the US and it’s one of my favorites. So... if you like Peruvian and happen to be in Philadelphia, you must go to Vista Peru. Gets five stars from me. It’s not Lima, but better than anything I’ve had in the US.

SUCH a friendly and helpful staff! We thoroughly enjoyed the pisco cocktails recommended by our server, and our food was completely delicious. The nibble that came with our drinks(a crunchy, salty corn kernel ) was addictive. We actually begged for more, and finished it. We would definitely return.

This place was a nice little surprise. A co-worker and I were attempting to have an after work cocktail at 3:00 pm. We were in route to Blue Martini. To our surprise they didn't open up until 4pm. So we tried Cuba Libre and they were having bar issues so we left. As we were walking to our cars we spotted an easel with happy hour items on it... It's a tiny little spot between those two places. We went inside and had Tostone, shrimp cocktails and calamary. all three were pretty good.. It was suggested we try a Peruvian drink made with Piso, a corn liquor. It was ok. It was a nice surprise something different. The place is small . A nice quiant place. No service. Staff were very nice and helpful. Give it a try

I’m glad to very highly recommend Vista Peru on south two street in Philadelphia! The ceviche was extremely good with all entrees great & flavored of Peru. Wonderful staff members with an awesome pisco sour! Cheers always :-)s

I really enjoyed the ambience and some of the meals. The Aji de Gallina and shrimp food lack of flavor. The Lomo Saltado was ok.

My experience revolved around sliding our table to the left. To the right. To the left. To the right. I'm sure dining was supposed to be an aerobic experience! I guess I could make flavorless rice at home and remain still.

This quiet harbor of great South American tastes on 2nd Street will be the first place I return to on my next trip to this historic neighborhood. Everything my waiter (from Colombia) suggested was great - for Happy Hour a lovely cocktail and appetizer of slivers of tender fish in a lovely sauce (somewhat similar to seviche or sebiche). Then juicy beef with plantains and a terrific flavor of ice cream. Owner and chefs from Peru obviously attended to every aspect of the restaurant with care, including the architecturally amazing ceiling of Andes-like peaks and valleys. My best meal of 2019!

Enjoy a Pisco sour and learn about and sample Peruvian food in this new establishment in Old City. Try the lomo Saltado or one of the seafood soups. We ate at the bar and were joined by a number of others with Latin heritage. Owners were present and the staff made sure everyone felt welcome and was well cared for.

We enjoyed our food a lot. The service was great. I wish we had known to ask more allergen-related questions, because the menu descriptions for the dishes weren't complete.

We heard they had authentic Peruvian food here, and they do. The waiter was a young man from Colombia and was very good. Prices were a little steep, but they had some good lunch specials. We had a late lunch with friends: they shared a ceviche and thought it was delicious. The chaufa was good, kind of unique with bean sprouts adding a little crunch. The carne asada was OK, pretty difficult to get a thin piece of meat cooked only to medium. It came with nice grilled onions, as did the pollo a la plancha. The maduros were good. We thought the chicha was the crowning touch - some of the best we've ever had!
Great food
Great ambience, friendly & attentive staff, great quality food. Was looking for authentic Peruvian food & was amazing.
