My family absolutely adored this place. It had a completely gluten free and vegan menu. Super fresh food and so flavorful! My whole family (including 2 kids) loved it. My picky eater finished her plate and loved it. We will be back every time we come to San Antonio.

Amazing food, friendly staff, and such a cute restaurant. Our shuttle driver recommended this place and it was the best restaurant on our trip in San Antonio!! Would come back again.

Let me start off by saying the food was very good. We were a party of 5 and had the vegan nachos as an appetizer which everyone loved and couldn't get enough. I had the "chicken" flautas which I thought were great, a little bit spicy and some might say it had too much garlic and onion, but I enjoyed. The downfall was the service. When we arrived there were about 4-5 other tables mostly couples. Our appetizer came 15 minutes after we ordered which I thought was timely and expected the meal to continue that way, how wrong I was. It took 45 minutes (I actually timed it on my phone) before they brought out our food, and it wasn't the food for the whole table that they brought out it was just one plate. It took them over 20 minutes to bring out 5 plates of food, each of them one by one. How awkward is that? By the time the last person is served the first person has been sitting there for 20 min, so you either choose to eat your plate and are finished before everyone is served or wait and have stone cold, soggy food and you don't want to ask for them to reheat because chances are it'll take them another 20 minutes. I understand everything is handmade and takes time to prepare but this is also a business that depends on customers to come back. Every time we asked the waitress how long it was going to take or what was going on all she said was "Sorry, you're food should be out shortly." I love that the restaurant is vegan and gluten free. I love all the options, but being on the southside this restaurant is a bit out of my way which normally I have no problem with driving if I know it's going to be a great meal and enjoyable experience, but for me the good food could not redeem the service and I will not be going back.

Very friendly staff, cute facility. I ordered the “chicken” enchiladas verdes and the mushroom chicharron street tacos. While the texture of the mushrooms was great for texture sensitive folks, I got one as a side to try and for $5 was not worth the price. The Enchiladas meal was very good. I wish I could come back and sit in with friends and enjoy a meal there and try more items.

We want so badly to give this eclectic joint 5 stars! We loved its vibe so much! But it has to be 4....for now. We found this plant-based diamond in the rough just outside San Antonio’s downtown. Unfortunately, the food here was missing the spice factor we were so hoping for. Quite literally everything we tried fell just a bit flat. Still, the creative vegan dishes served quickly in an adorable funky space, with a cool friendly staff, were worth the trip.

I normally visit for lunch since I work nearby. I LOVE their artichoke soup. It is delicious and tomatoey. I have had a few other items, a couple of their salads, their chalupas, nopalito tacos, tamales. All their food is made with a creative and savory twist on traditional favorites. I do recommend ordering 2-3 items to fill up. They also have cupcakes.

Devastated to discover that Senor Veggie was no more, we went searching for a restaurant that served up vegan Mexican. We found this place. On a Friday night, it wasn't too crowded, and service was quick and warm. We ordered some tacos (which were delicious), vegan nachos (which were pretty good) and a beet salad (which needed work). We sat outside on a balmy magical night ... and hours passed. They let us sit and chat. If I was back in San Antonio and had access to a car, I'd come again!

So, finally had a chance to make it down here and was anxiously awaiting the food and the vibe of this place. From the moment we walked in it was like we were ignored. Our waitress looked bothered and perturbed that she even had to wait on us. She took our order and brought our food and it was just very mediocre. Nacho appetizer was blah and our salad was wilted. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed and don't plan on going back. I posted reviews on other outlets and the owner even reached out to try and make it right but I was literally so let down and grossed out by this place I wouldn't even consider it again.

Came down for dinner and ordered the nachos Del Mundo and some flautas. I can honestly tell you I was not impressed and our service was terrible. Food was not fresh and the flavors seemed just a bit off kilter. To top it off our server looked miserable and totally uninterested in serving us. Not a great experience and I don't think I'll be coming back here.

Fantastic vegan fare. Loved the portabella fajita tacos and the nachos. Can’t wait to go back to check out other choices!! They don’t skimp on food! Plates were heaping!

If you're vegan and looking for the best Mexican Food .....this is the place. Viva Vegeria has improved 100% with new management. Mr.Benny has brought amazing Mexican cuisine that is vegan and gluten free. Agua frescas are the best with natural sweetness. Try it you'll love it...🤗🤗

Really good vegan food. It tasted fresh and full of flavor! No one left hungry! Pleasantly surprising to these new vegans! Compliments to the chef!!!!

Fabulous vegan food. The “chicken” flautas were superb. The enchiladas w mole was excellent!! Everything is plant based vegan but even a carnivore couldn’t tell the difference.

Viva Vegeria is the ONLY restaurant that I can order ANY item on the menu and know it's safe for my allergies. As soon as I walk in, if the Owner Fred-Anthony Garza sees me, he immediately drops a serving of Wild Buffalo Wings made with CAULIFLOWER! I have also become obsessed also with his Avocado Street Tacos! Happy Dance of perfect flavors going on in my mouth every time! I get Kale Salad and Jicima Mango Salad for sides. For any sweet tooth moments, they have incredible Vegan, Gluten Free Cupcakes and Cheesecakes! Got to go again soon! Five years and going strong!

I have driven by the restaurant a few times, and one of my employees said it was good. Viva Vegeria is a small place, very Mexican in the decor, with Dia de Los Muertos altars, candles and pictures. Pretty cool. The food is varied and good. We had veggie nachos and a great kale-sundried tomatoes with Poblano sweet potato sauce. Service was friendly, and the place was busy, with a bit of a long wait, but it was worth it. Near downtown, this is an alternative to Green restaurant.

Cute little place with vegan food made with love. My cantaloupe agua fresca was lovely and my husband said the lemonade was great too. The lemonade was refilled from a pitcher by our server. We had a long drive, so no adult beverages for us; but this place is BYOB if you wanted an adult beverage. We both enjoyed our meals even though we are not vegan. I am dairy allergic, so eating at vegan restaurants when I can find them is safe for me. I enjoyed the bright flavors of my "chicken" enchiladas verdes as well as the (can't remember the actual name) fried mushroom street tacos that my husband ate. Both dishes came with a small salad, rice and beans. We then ordered cupcakes to go - they aren't listed on the menu, but are in a case up front and seem to be available while supplies last. So far, I've eaten the "funfetti" cupcake which tasted mildly like banana bread and a hostess-style cupcake which was devine - not too sweet and a nice balance of tender and chewy chocolate cake with creme filling and a dark chocolate ganache topping. I am looking forward to the other flavors we brought home, which include carrot cake, churro (cinnamon), chocolate and vanilla with different frostings. [I took home one of each available because vegan cupcakes are rare treats.] We will definitely stop by every time we find ourselves in the San Antonio area.

Where do I even begin?? First, this place is super cute. They have candles everywhere and really nice paintings. Two, the service is good. Ok so now to the food. The food is so freaking good. I ordered a large nacho which was huge (I probably could have ordered a small) luckily my boyfriend helped me out and I ordered the avocado tacos too. Both were so good. We devoured it all.

My date found Viva Vegeria using Groupon. We visited this unique Mexican vegetarian/vegan restaurant while visiting San Antonio. We found the food excellent and moderately priced. If you can call food eye candy, theirs was so well presented so attractive you could eat seconds if the portions were not so generous. The attendant was very helpful and friendly and filled us in on the history of the place. We enjoyed the atmosphere and hospitality so much we came back the next day instead of sampling another place. All in all I highly recommend Viva Vegeria for vegetarians and vegans alike.

The only restaurant I've been to where I can order anything off the menu!!! This place serves awesome plant-based foods that don't disappoint on flavor, texture, creativity. Totally delicious. Came with some non-vegan family, and they loved the food too :) This place does it right.

Awesome vegan restaurant in San Antonio. There aren’t many restaurants that have an entirely vegan menu, but this one does, and it was awesome. Tex-Mex food, and it tasted great!

Vegan and vegetarian restaurants have come a long way from carrot sticks in lettuce leaves and this place is one reason why. Yes, Mexican cuisine lends itself to vegetarian and even vegan dishes with a few tweaks. But at Viva Vegeria they take things a little farther, with twists that elevate their dishes waaay beyond ordinary, while maintaining the comfort aspect. A friend and i stopped in for lunch. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and echoed the creative vibe of the place too. Ambience was great if a little minimal. Very clean and extremely colorful, with fairy lights and local artwork. Portions were large. The food was excellent. Cannot recall the names of what we ate but we did try a nacho platter that had, along w hand made tortilla strips and the usual beans and salsa, a ‘cheese’ made from carrots and potatoes (i had to ask) along with homemade kimchi. This southeast Asian staple was a surprise on many levels—mostly how well it worked in the dish. Quinoa replacing the rice, and kale for greens and this appetizer-which my friend and i shared-could have been the whole meal. Our main dishes were equally inventive and tasty but that appetizer was the standout. Neither of us had room for dessert but next time will plan better. One thing that really impressed us was an option on one dish on the menu for guests to pay what they wanted for it. Whatever was paid was put in a kitty by the restaurant and used to feed those who cannot afford it. They donate the dish and all payments for it. Brilliant idea and in line with the global citizen attitude of the restaurant and staff. All in all an excellent place to go and get great food, and perhaps raise your consciousness a little.

This is a nice and small place with some great vegan dishes. Me and my daughter stopped in for a quick bite after reading some reviews. I am so glad we did. She had the nachos and said they were great. I had the fried Avocado tacos with some red beans which were excellent!

We are astounded at all the great vegan Mexican food choices in San Antonio. This hidden gem is no exception. My daughter begs to come here each time we visit and says it is her favorite of all. This time she ordered the corn dogs and finished up with a pineapple cupcake. Extremely generous portions and very friendly service. Highly recommend you take the drive and visit this authentic little restaurant.

Currently they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and close early on Sundays. It is a small family run business. There’s a back patio that I love to eat on. This visit I got a spinach and kale enchiladas dish and pineapple juice. Everything was tasty and portions were ample . Pricing was reasonable, which is hard to come by these days. Most importantly, service is warm and responsive. Try them out even if you aren’t vegan!

We ordered nachos, flautas & tacos. Really tasty & fresh. Pretty good service too. Also you must get a neopolitan cupcake as well.

Always a good meal is waiting at this restaurant each time I visit San Antonio. The freshness of the ingredients and the quality of the meal is always welcome especially in a city that has an image of being very meat-centric.

Hands down my favorite restaurant! The food is amazing! The superhuman nachos are my favorite!! The atmosphere is so relaxing, the staff is friendly, the food is amazing... and the cupcakes! Oh my the cupcakes are so yummy!!

I've never tried this type of restaurant before, but was really impressed. Very good food! Had the soy tacos! These are true San Antonio people as they've included Cutter bug spray into the outdoor patio tables.

This place has been on my list of places to visit and I certainly was not disappointed. We had the “wings” and my wife and I absolutely loved it. Next, we had the barbacoa tacos, nachos, and fajita tacos. All I can say is wow! The flavors really pop and go excellent with every dish. We finished with one of each dessert available and we left stuffed. Priced very well here also. Additionally, every piece of artwork on the wall is for sale and you can take it with you. This place is now a required stop whenever I am in San Antonio!

I have dined at Vegeria before and bought a gift card at Vegeria Vegan due to a promotion they were running. This year, I wanted to use the gift card and called the number on the card, non working number! With a few calls, I learned the business was sold to Viva Vegeria on Nogalitos, which is quite far from home that day, we could not make the drive. So I called the business and explained my gift card purchase of $45. They declined to take my gift card explaining they did not have a machine to redeem or something like that. Other customers have also called them. I am writing this review because (1) I did dine at Vegeria when it was opened so I can only say it was delicious!; and (2) in spite of Viva Vegeria not redeeming the value of the gift card, I would go there and recommend that anyone reading this review try the restaurant on Nogalitos street. Why? They handled themselves so very professionally and calmly, give them super kudos. I think the manager's name is Josh that spoke to me. He offered to give my and my family of 4 a 50% discount in exchange for the gift card they could not accept. And I learned the gift card was purchased over 2 years ago so humbly, time does fly away... If you buy a gift card from a local merchant, use it asap! Seriously, I was not happy at first, then listened to what Josh was saying (think this is his name) and I wish the owners the best of luck because they definitely deserve it and showed great care for the people in the community.

Found this place while on vacation...The portobello street tacos are amazing. Fantastic flavors and a nice kick. Hubby ordered the sweet potato flauta with poblano and avocado sauce. Great as well. Sampled each other's plate and can't decide which was better. He is not a vegetarian but said he could be persuaded if all vegetarian dishes were this good. Will be back before we head home

I was absolutely thrilled with the plant based food served. I tried the Picodilla Tacos and sampled the tamales. Both where very good. For the appetizer i tried chips and queso, it wasn't bad but not my cup of tea due to the cheese being sweet potato based. I asked for some salsa and it was absolutely amazing. All in all highly recommended. The service was excellent also.

So glad my Husband & I found this restaurant while on vacation in San Antonio. Our meals, appetizer & dessert were delicious. The staff was friendly & chatted with us for a bit. We wish OH was closer so we could try everything on their menu. So yummy!!!

Was looking for vegetarian and my friend found this place - really great food in an atmospheric, down-to-earth setting.

So glad we happened upon this little veggie gem in this meat lovers city. The wait staff is super friendly and attentive. Ordered from the three daily lunch specials. $8.99 The calabasita enchiladas were a nice surprise. Smothered in a tasty butternut squash sauce that tricks your eyes into thinking it might be cheese. My husband had the "chicken" enchiladas verdes. Nice and tasty, but a little bit cold. The rice was also cold. But the beans were nice and hot. Completely vegetarian. And a fresh mixed greens salad was served on the side. With a fresh squeezed limeade, water and tip the total was $27. This is a rather small place with free parking. BYOB. Will be coming back to try some of the regular menu items.

The set up is not the best. You walk in, if there's a line, you wait outside, you pay and order at the register before you sit down. It doesn't make sense and takes too much time. The food was ok overall. The nachos were, yuck, but the "Chicharron" tacos were good & Cauliflower Buffalo wings were the BEST! $.

Had brunch on a Sunday afternoon and we were not disappointed. Huge portions to be shared by the four of us. Very quick wait-staff and great indoor/outdoor seating. We will return!

This place is a hidden gem. The quality of food, desserts, and service was amazing! I had the kale, avocado, and sun dried tomatoes as an appetizer and it was extremely filling.

This is one of my new favorite celiac safe restaurants. The flavors made my mouth sing, and my pocketbook did not cry. The food was so delicious that I didn't notice it was meatless. If you like to be warm, bring a sweater, it was a bit chilly. I'm sad that I'm leaving TX soon.

Really nice! Plenty of fresh produce and vegetarian dishes to choose from. The fresh juice was so good. Pricing was OK too

This place is a little off the beaten path. You'll need to drive here since it's outside of downtown. My husband and I eat primarily plant based and we took two omnivores with us who thoroughly enjoyed it. The place is really quaint. Very colorful and relaxed inside. The food was delicious and their agua fresca was very refreshing!! I would definitely eat here again!!

I travel for work and so I am always looking out for a good Vegan place - Viva Vegeria was a total delight. I ordered a Kombucha, Fried Avocado Tacos and the Jalapeno Beet Salad for my lunch. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The Tacos melted in my mouth. I was so taken, I had a Vegan cupcake for dessert with one of the best cups of coffee I've had at any restaurant in awhile. And then I ordered one of the daily specials to go: Spinach & Kale Enchiladas served with rice, charro beans & salad. The packed it all up very well, and I warmed it up and had that for lunch the next day! The staff were welcoming, service great, the atmosphere very comfortable with local artist works gracing the walls, and a mixture of tables providing different seating options. A total treasure. I'd consider traveling to San Antonio just to eat here, again. Highly recommend!

Wonderfully delicious vegetarian and gluten free restaurant! Have been here a few times and everything is so good, it's hard to believe! Real food, real Mexican, friendly staff, in a beautiful but laid-back environment. Weekend brunch is all out awesome!!

Dined here for lunch with three friends on a weekday. We were seated immediately and our server explained the lunch specials. My selection was from the menu...blue corn and poblano tacos (2) which was served with one side and I selected the jalapeno beet slaw. I was blown away by the fantastic flavors of both the tacos and the beet slaw. My friends were all very pleased with their food selections and made plans to return!
A Mexican Vegetarian Restaurant
It is not easy to find a Mexican vegetarian restaurant but here it is in San Antonio. The place has very good quality Mexican vegetarian dishes. Prices are reasonable and the setting is very much Mexican but with a clear difference than the standard fare.
