Get it right - get to Vivian's!

By JohnJ64 |

Read reviews on trip advisor and decided to give Vivian's a try for something off the beaten tourist path. Very pleasantly surprised! We started our Thursday of site seeing off at Vivian's for brunch around 10:00. We ended up parking about a block up from the diner using metered parking - $2 for two hours. Be sure to sit out on the patio very nice, very laid back and relaxing. Lots of shade and plants - very large avacado tree growing through the patio. I had the chicken sausage omelette with home fries and sourdough toast - see the photo I added. Very tasty! Home fries had fresh peppers and tomatoes. Wife had biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and bacon and son had a bacon cheeseburger. Both of which got good reviews. Service was very friendly, attentive, and prompt. We plan to go back again before leaving town.

Old school diner 😎

My wife knows I enjoy a good breakfast when traveling so she searched trip advisor for some restaurants close to our hotel that serve breakfast and found Vivian's. I walked a few blocks on Saturday morning getting there a couple minutes before they opened at 8:00 am I sat outside in the back patio area. I was greeted nicely by the front of the house as we're all the customers around me. In a nutshell my sausage omelette, potatoes with tortillas were yummy and the service was great! I will definitely return to this gem.

Ate here twice while we stayed nearby!

By TaraTraveler |

We asked at the Garland hotel where we should eat breakfast and they recommended Vivians. It was wonderful. The first time was on a weekend and the wait was about 40 minutes. We loved it so much that we came back and ate here again before the end of our stay.

Where the Locals Eat

By Robert C |

I loved this place. Quite a menu from Eggs to Country Fried Steak to salads. The food was plentiful and delicious. We had the feeling we had movie people sitting all around us.

Awesome!!!!

Stayed at the Beverly Garland not far away and walked to Vivian's in the morning based off Trip Advisor reviews and it was one of the best breakfasts that we had on our road trip up the CA coast to San Fran. Tight place with parking in the back but there is a gorgeous patio in the back with lots of plants and flowers that make you feel like you are dining in a garden. See my pics. Just great fresh food for breakfast. My wife had the white chocolate macadamia but pancakes and they were probably the best pancakes I've ever had. The White chocolate kind of crystallizes into the pancakes. It was awesome. I highly recommend. Great breakfast stop.

Quaint Breakfast Place

By travelingtheworld_00 |

This adorable restaurant has home style breakfast at a reasonable price. I enjoyed my breakfast and the service was really good! I was spending the day at Universal Studios so wanted a meal that would keep me going; the eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast were just as you would hope! Everything served hot and fresh!

Yum Yum for my Tum Tum 😁

By Andrea A |

This service is warm and friendly, the food is portioned big and flavourful. Parking space outside by the street is plentiful. We ordered the steak and eggs, French toast with strawberries, was served with sausages and 2 eggs as well.

Great Breakfast

By russkim240 |

We randomly picked Vivian’s for breakfast and could not have been more pleased. So many choices, your size standard plates, but also a lot of different options and AWESOME pancakes!

Close to Universal Studios area

By MominOC |

came here for lunch before heading out of town. Midweek was not very busy. No parking available except for street parking which was minimal. Being from out of town it was confusing about where to park. Interior was very hot so opted for back patio even though the weather was oppressively warm. Chicken salad sandwich $17 was a good old school style. Lox & eggs were a large portion $20. Due to the parking we personally would not return but place has good food.

Small portions and overpriced!

By Lyle_mord |

In 2015 we visited when we were staying in the Garland and we wanted to go somewhere else for breakfast. The service was brilliant and the food came very quickly with a big choice. We then came back to LA two years later and knew for breakfast we were going straight to Vivian’s cafe due to the phenomenal experience the first time. We saw that they extended to the outside and was very excited to eat here. We looked at the menu and ordered, but the food took a very long time to come the service was also poor and when the food arrived the portions were very small. After being very disappointed we knew we weren’t coming back and was annoyed due to us having such a good experience. We payed the expensive prices and didn’t come back. Overall very disappointed as our first visit was very promising.

Really awesome breakfast!

As a NYer, brunch is a very important experience that shouldn't be missed no matter where you are. A few friends recommended Vivian's and it was a very much appreciated tip. Their most popular dish seems to be the banana pancakes. Go for it. Don't miss it. Splurge, be a glutton and go for something really filling like the pancake combo. You'll need a walk afterward, but it's worth it to reward yourself. The restaurant is small and it appears that the patio is popular and you might encounter a short wait. It really was a great restaurant and I would return.

Great time at vivian's

By ALPH2015 |

Our California trip wouldn't be complete without a stopping at vivian's. The banana were to die for! Very light and fluffy, best comfort food. Shannon and Hector were great, they really worked hard to make sure everyone was seated and orders taken promptly. We loved speaking with George, the co-owner of the restaurant. This was the highlight of our trip to California. George was welcoming and sincere. Don't miss out! Make sure you stop here.

Loved our brunch there!

By Lisa N |

We stopped in on a Tuesday morning for brunch and although the restaurant isn't that exciting looking on the outside we went out into the garden area and found a cute little patio table off to the side. We had 5 different combos - Eggs Benedict, Waffle Plate, Vivians Scramble, 2 Egg Combo, 2+2+2 Pancake Combo with juices and coffee. Everything was fabulous and cost about $80 with tip for 5 people. We were able to meter park on the street. There were other people there but it wasn't super busy as we wondered if we would get in without a wait. Our server was a man (whose name I didn't get) but is on Leah Remini's It's All Relative TV Show and he was very attentive and friendly. Our other server was Taylor and she was good to us as well. Both owners George and Angelo were there (Leah Remin's step-dad and her husband, respectively) and our server asked them if they would mind saying hello and taking a picture with us. They could not have been more friendly or gracious. They were both very easy to talk to and it made our day! Would definitely go back for brunch/breakfast if we returned to California. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Best breakfast in town and a super friendly team

Best Gluten-free Pancakes, big portions and so delicious. We come definitely back. Thank you for the great experience.

Good food, historic location, reasonably priced, visited for breakfast, walking distance from Hilton

A Great Find

By lolojo |

Just discovered this adorable casual indoor/outdoor eatery right in my own neighborhood after living here in Studio City 4 years! Tucked away, hardly visible from the street, the inside seating area is very tiny, but the outdoor area that wraps around the back was a backyard surprise! Extremely casual with fresh food that was delicious in the breakfast category. Took my newspaper, sat alone at a wooden table and was never rushed or hurried by the staff to leave. In fact, I was encouraged to take my time and relax and enjoy. Rare in Los Angeles restaurants! Have gone once alone then brought my husband. We will both be returning to this little hidden jewel. (note: only street parking so park on Vineland south of Ventura so you don't have to feed a meter! Or even across the street in the Big Ralph's shopping center!)

So good!

By Sandi L |

The breakfasts here are so good, we went back three times! The ultimate pancakes were the best things I've ever tasted. A must for breakfast

Great breakfast

By D4004BUmichaelh |

Excellent breakfast. Nice, casual outdoor setting. Excellent service. We got a chance to meet with George and Vicki. They were both so nice and gracious to visit with us. We look forward to visiting again next time we are in town.

Great food at Leah Riminis cafe.

By BRIAN S |

Took my wife as we are both big fans of the show. Absolutely delighted to see Shannon and Angelo there. Best coffee I've ever tasted. I had Angelo's special which was awesome. Staff are very friendly, I even got a smile for the scary Shannon at one point lol. Loved how they have turned a small space into a lush setting full of greenery and exotic plant life. Great job guys, we travelled all the way from Miami and it was well worth it. Love the show, 10 more seasons please x

A hidden gem!

By Nino L |

This place is just awesome. Great food, friendly staff and a beautiful outdoor patio in the shade. Probably the best place to have breakfast/lunch in the valley.

Best Breakfast on Ventura

By Garret F |

Just great food and great service at fantastic value. I have been coming to Ventura since 2008 and have only discovered this gem! The kids menu is perfect and Mo-Moo Lash is simply devine. Great for families!

Great, relaxing.

By AlmaHeg |

Experience was great, service was great, food was delicious. Service was pretty good too. Though it did take a little while to get food.

It's all good!

By Chuck S |

Being a fan of "It's All Relative," I had to check it out when working nearby. The front lobby is fairly small, but the patio out back is where you want to eat. Nice and shady, with lots of greenery, it's a great place to relax. I ordered the French Dip sandwich for lunch and was pleasantly surprised when Shannon brought out a whole bowl of Au Jus, not just a small cup like most places. The sandwich was tasty and a good value. Coming back the next morning for breakfast, things were nice and quiet, and I definitely enjoyed the respite from our heat. I ordered the 2+2+2 Combo (2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon and 2 sausage). I upgraded to the Ultimate pancakes, which are made with some granola and walnuts and they were good. All the items were tasty, with extra kudos for the sausage patties, which were extra tasty and had a good spicy flavor. George was here both visits and he is just he is on the show, very friendly and laid back. Shannon is prettier than I think she gives herself credit for, and Angelo took the time to say "Hello!" and chat awhile. You'll enjoy your visit and your meal at Vivian's Millenium Cafe.

Love the food. Service is very friendly and attentive. It’s usually our first stop when we visit our daughter. Tried the ultimate pancake. Yowza!

A great little cafe for a great breakfast ,close to where we stayed. Friendly staff ,as much filter coffee as you require with a good choice menu. Well worth a visit.

A great find

By BZSooz |

Little did I know that this was near The Garland hotel where we were staying. I watch It's All Relative with Leah Remini, so I have see it on the show. It is a great place to have breakfast, especially outside in the courtyard area. To my surprise, our waitress, Shannon, Leah's sister, waited on us and could not have been nicer. The food was delicious. Definitely recommend!

Nice little restaurant

By Erin P |

We intentionally went to find this place during our trip to LA because my husband saw it on Leah Remini's reality show. It's small but cozy, some tables inside but a large airy patio out back. Their website said it may be busy after 10am, but we didn't have any problem getting in and getting a table. Great service, great food. The banana pancakes were delish! Recommended if you're in the area of Studio City. We also got to meet actor Angelo Pagan, husband to Leah Remini!

Favorite Breakfast/Brunch Spot

By Sparky8188 |

Vivien's is a favorite! If you blink you will miss it on Ventura! It's at Vineland and Ventura on the hill side across from the Ralph's shopping center & next to a Shell Gas station. The patio is the best place to sit and is a little slice of heaven in the city! We've had a little bit of spotty service bc I think they just are used to regulars and don't get many newbies that don't know what they are doing like us. The ambience and the food far outweigh the snippy service though. They are only open til 3pm so not a dinner spot. I get the Crew's Scamble with turkey sausage, egg, potato, avocado and it comes w/ a side english muffin. Delish! If in Studio City you need to try this place! You just might see a movie star dining next to you too!

Simply TERRIFIC

By porter_osborne |

Went here with party of 4. Missed the breakfast and lunch "crush," so got a table immediately. we chose to sit outside. Tables were not fancy, but functional with umbrellas or porch roofs to shade them. Just our type of place. We had a wide variety of foods from burgers to omelets to beef and eggs. Everything was great. Full breakfast/lunch selections are priced in the $11-17 range. Wait staff we terrific and never let a drink go dry. I think I had 6 cup of coffee unintentionally.

Tasty, friendly and good value.

By JohnnyGWestport_CT |

Our breakfast go to near the BLVD Hotel and Spa. Nice selection of breakfast items, very good hash browns, perfect eggs, friendly wait staff. True local eatery.

Yummmmm!

By Christine J |

We became aware of Vivian's while watching Leah Remini's show "It's All Relative" and have "visited Vivian" a few times now. Breakfast or lunch, it's always delicious. The quaint and quiet atmosphere is a plus.

Nice Breakfast

By miltonwar |

The time wait at Griddle was about 45 minutes, so we checked Tripadvisor and we came here. It is a small restaurant, with a small backyard with few tables outside. The food is decent and tasty. We have a nice breakfast with my family. Service was really nice. The bathroom is not in the best location, because is near the kitchen and if you go from backyard there is a little chance to hit a waitress, or other people. The bathroom was very clean.

Very decent breakfast in the heart of LA!

By R.. |

Really friendly staff, large range of sensibly priced food. Definitely a good stop for breakfast! Menu very customisable, they also offer a solid lunch menu. Don't be put off by the bland front, the patio out back is great!

Star struck!!

By Jennifer G |

Stopped in for breakfast on a Friday morn. Had great food and got to see Shannon and Angelo stopped in too. Love these guys on tv. They also have one awesome little restaurant!!!

Was not impressed considering the reviews...

By Sheina J |

I will admit right up front that we did not have pancakes or French toast and that seems to be the draw. We did have eggs and sausage and bacon, hash browns and corned beef hash. The egg breakfast came with one slice of toast - I’ve never seen that before. I asked if i could be a half order of eggs Benedict and was told no because ‘how can we split up an English muffin?’ I’ve had that in hundreds of breakfast places and never been told I could not have a half order. The chairs inside were annoying and perhaps they can put little pads on the bottoms so they are not so noisy every time they’re moved. Just a suggestion. The coffee was okay but i had to give my first cup back as there was hair in it. For all I ‘researched’ and read about this place perhaps my expectations were set too high. We were not impressed and it was not an inexpensive breakfast. I don’t mind paying when i’m getting value for the money. The service was okay...no apologies for the coffee or the inability to split up an English muffin. Unfortunately we will not return.

Great

By Ben S |

Awesome breakfast. Walked through the kitchen to the back patio and ate outside. The pancake combo was delicious. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone in the area.

Great all around

By Em C |

Great food, sweet and attentive employees, affordable. Would come here every day if I lived in LA. Loved meeting and hanging with Georgie, Angelo, and Sadie.

Eggscellent

By Sam A |

Holy smokes. What a breakfast. The range was fantastic, never seen so many variations of scrambled egg. Cooked to perfection and burying with flavour. Boyfriend had the banana pancakes, soft and fluffy and huge too boot! Friendly staff and comfortable and comforting environment. This family owned restaurant was a real treat.

Great food

By YDON4783 |

We ate there 4 out of 5 days, food was good, absolutely wonderful, tasty pancakes which were such a novelty for me being a coeliac, gluten free and gorgeous. ~Service was great, Melia who waited on us was really friendly and helpful.

Brilliant Breakfast

By Stacey S |

We went here for breakfast on our first day in LA and we loved it. We sat out on the patio, it was a lovely atmosphere with very friendly staff.

Nice little place

By wvu1bub |

My wife and I were visiting family in the area and we love Leah Remini and her show so we decided to stop for an late breakfast/early lunch. Food was good, staff was extremely friendly. If ever in the area again, would definitely stop again.

Average Food, secluded patio

By melobeam |

The skinny: Parking- metered street if you can find it Decor- basic cafe, secluded patio Service- very friendly Restroom- in the back Food- average We came here for breakfast while my brother was in town. Since it's close to where we live we walked since the parking situation is not great. Though it was a Saturday morning at 9am it wasn't busy and we were seated in the back patio. I was lucky and got the seat on the downward slope of the patio where it made me sit lower than the table. The server was very friendly and affable the whole time. However while good service is appreciated, the food was just average. My french toast was cold, the syrup came in a non descript squeeze bottle so not sure if it was maple syrup. The strawberries tasted off, I left them on the plate. The plates and cups were old and worn, the graphics worn off. I tried the breakfast potatoes and they were eh. It's Denny's kind of food but Denny's does it better.

what a gem !!!

By siwelsummit |

had a wonderful brunch here upon our arrival in LA. tried their pancakes, and a sandwich, and both were great. nicest staff, too....

A hidden gem in Studio City

By DeniseWakeman |

Vivian's has been around in the same location since 1964. It's easy to miss the green awning if you're traveling fast down Ventura Blvd so slow down because you don't want to miss it. Open for breakfast and lunch. A friend and I had breakfast after a 6-mile walk at the Hollywood Reservoir (another must-visit destination). At 10 am on a Saturday, it was busy but we were seated right away on the back patio. It's a charming space with lots of plants and trees so it feels cozy. I had the corned beef hash and two eggs with home fries. The hash was excellent. Tasty and nicely prepared. I prefer my eggs over medium and they were done perfectly. The coffee is good and the servers were attentive to keeping our cups filled. My friend had lox and scrambled eggs with a side of grits and seemed pretty happy with her meal as well. Service was a bit slow, but it was a Saturday morning and we weren't in a rush so it didn't matter. It was a beautiful morning for sitting outdoors and relaxing with good food. Street parking with meters.

Late breakfast on Sunday!!

By TomballTXFamily |

My husband and I are staying at The Garland and decided to have breakfast here based on the reviews... definitely glad we did! Cool atmosphere and amazing food! I had the 2+2+2 eggs, pancakes and bacon and my husband had the Cruz Scramble.. both were incredible! Don't miss it !

Wonderful Breakfast!

By Mike95128 |

Wonderful Sunday morning brunch. My partner and I came here with friends who live in Sherman Oaks. We were on vacation from the Bay Area. While we didn't see any celebrities, the wonderful breakfast made up for it. I just loved the Vivian's Scramble with feta. Actually, everyone's breakfast was fresh and tasty. Try to get a table on the outside patio. Apart from typical California breakfast items, they also have grits and biscuits and gravy.

Hidden gem

By hubbz72 |

Stayed 2 mins away from this little gem of a place. Nothing from outside, but lovely quaint courtyard dining out back. Great friendly service, free refills and wonderful food!

Finally Gluten Free For Us!!

By Kathleen R |

I was beyond excited to see a gluten free breakfast selection at Vivian's! This has not happened in any restaurant we have visited for breakfast, so we were very impressed. Not only was the gluten free food fantastic and delicious, the service went beyond anything I could have expected! So friendly and helpful! We will definitely be back, though we will take a little more time next time to check out the inside, since we sat outside because the weather was so nice.

Great breakfasts

By MsLisaD |

Whilst staying at the Garland we had breakfast twice here, the place has a great atmosphere, the staff very welcoming & friendly, i haven’t got a big appetite so it was great being able to order items separately rather than one big breakfast, totally recommend

Wonderful! Lovely little place

By SAS |

Wonderful! Lovely little place with the very best pancakes we have ever had. The food was excellent and the service was great. Kids already asking to go back when we return to LA.

Breakfast Yum

By A Kelly |

We are staying at The Garland and while looking at surrounding restaurants on Trip Advisor we hunted Vivian’s out due to the reviews and we were not disappointed! We were greeted at the door by a really friendly gentlemen and had a really delish brunch. Yummy omelette & Hash. We look forward to calling in each time we are back.

Best breakfast in the valley

By Wizard Toby |

Vivians is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. I always get the breakfast because it’s that good. The Decour is absolutely delightful and the waitstaff extremely friendly. The prices are very good. It’s only open till 3 PM so make sure you go early. There can be a wait to get a table but it’s completely worth it. I bring my friends here when they visit Los Angeles especially if it’s their first trip to Los Angeles.

Great food and setting

By BEH2965 |

We were staying nearby and decided to try Vivians after seeing it on Leah Remini's reality show. I looked at other reviews and they were all good. We went for lunch on a Monday and the food was great. Parking can be a bit tough but we got street parking with a bit of a walk. Service was good, our glasses were refilled constantly without asking. I had a BLT, my son a burger and daughter a Caesar Salad which we were all happy with. The side of Potato salad was delicious. Leahs family was there which was pretty cool (we did not approach them). I will go back for sure on my next visit to L.A.

Delicious

By Natalie V |

Very nice place to have breakfast. Excellent service, the food is fresh and absolutely great. When you're in the neigbourhood, you should definitely stop here. I recommend french toast with strawberries (although they could have given more fruit) and pancakes. However, I think everything they serve is good.

Yummy gluten-free pancakes ...

By Carlos A |

Yummy gluten-free pancakes, french pressed coffee, best all around! Incredible service. Quaint back patio ... warm in the summer but can be chilly in the winter. A neighborhood gem!

SLOOOWWW service, average food.

By ScottfromBlackie |

After seeing a homeless lady urinate on the sidewalk between where we parked and the door of this cafe, we knew we were in for a treat... the service was TERRIBLE. I had to ask for menus, we were ignored, the order took forever to bring to our table. Maybe it was the first time they cooked pancakes and it took them a few tries...

Very good breakfast

By Dave M |

Greta place for breakfast. When you first walk in you do wonder whats going on as its very small but then you through to the back and its large. Had a great breakfast. Pancakes very good, eggs benedict very good.Service was spot on and all round good place to eat

Breakfast at Vivian's...

Did not disappoint! Great local vibe. Outstanding customer service and yummy food. Had a great time chatting with George Marshall. Went on a Thursday at 11:30 am. No wait and easy parking.

Perfect for Breakfast/ Lunch

Had a super breakfast in this restaurant. The food was delicious & fresh. Service was friendly & all staff were so very attentive. Rest room was spotless- always a good sign!

Yum!

By TroyAndCarrie |

Watched the show when it was on, in town & and since we didn't know of anywhere else so decided to give it a shot. Quaint little place tucked away on Ventura Blvd. Food was really good & staff very nice. Sat outside. Inside and out are rather small, but cute. Thought it might be packed on a Friday on 4th of July weekend. Very pleasant visit. Wish we lived closer. Would come back all the time.

Food

By Arasnuggles |

The food was amazing we ordered the french toast, veggie omelette, with potatoes, and the denver omelette we loved everything thje food was amazing and tasty.

Good breakfast and fun atmosphere

By Diane M |

Enjoyed the breakfast selections and would have eaten there another day of our stay, but filming in the area made it hard to park. Food was good and eggs were perfectly prepared. We sat on patio near the celeb owners which made it even more fun. We would recommend on your next visit to LA.

Good eat!

By foolrush |

Wife and i wasn't sure if we wanted to go in since this place is on a busy street and the front of the resturant didn't look impressive. We thought there were no customers when we walked in but was told everyone likes sitting out in the back that was packed with customers enjoying their brunch. Since i already had breakfast that morning, decided to go for lunch, grilled chicken sandwish which was great. Wife ordered a Chicken plate. Sitting on these plastic cheap chairs and table, didn't expect much but the food was actually very good and freshly made.

Best Breakfast EVER!!!!

By Sarah D |

I live in the Washington D.C. area and I went all the way there to try this cafe. They have a note in there that says the best pancakes in Studio City. Let me just say they were being modest. That have the BEST pancakes in California. Personally I think they taste better than IHOP because they don't leave a grease feeling in your mouth not to mention once you eat them you don't have that guilty feeling that you enjoyed something so amazing. Love the outside decor, plenty of street parking not to mention you can go down the street and shop afterwards and ladies if you need to go to the store treat yourself to Vivians and then go across the street to Ralphs to grocery shop. I also had an avocado and I must say it was really fresh and tasty usually when I order an avocado I regret it but it was perfect. The staff is friendly helpful. If you are ever in the area please try this. I was only able to do breakfast since the traffic there was faster wasn't able to do afternoon since in the L.A. area the traffic is really bad. Bottom line #LOVE IT

Stayed at a hotel around the corner and my daughter recommended this restaurant. Food was good, parking was interesting. I feel bad they don't have more parking. Would return again.

Great local brunch restaurant

By Alice J |

We had some delicious breakfast and service in top. The garden behind the restaurant is a perfect relaxing place to start the morning. Plenty of food for at danish family. High value for the money.

Not a place tourists should go out of their way for

By ExRIGuy |

Basic place In an industrial nondescript neighborhood serving slightly above average food. No idea as to the high rank. Outdoor patio is only mildly special feature.

It is a must !

By Cristiane M |

This is a small cafe and simple, the breakfast was really good ! One of the best places I have eaten while been in USA !

Great food

By kjeang |

A delicious place for breakfast. The French toast was the best I’ve ever had - light and fluffy. And the eggs (over hard) and bacon were cooked perfectly. The back patio is very nice and the service was efficient and pleasant.

Great for people watching...!

By Susan H |

This is good old American diner food...burgers, omelets, etc. We enjoyed it! And, of course, meeting Angelo was the highlight!

Really good

By WH0A |

Good breakfasts are not that easy to find in this part of LA, Vivian's is a nice exception. Good service, an extensive menu and well-cooked breakfasts. No espresso machine, but otherwise good.

Breakfast at vivians

By Robin C |

Good food. Veggie omelet. It was filled with veggies but no cheese. A little disappointed but I realized many people are “vegan” and not just vegetarian. Nevertheless it was filling and the home fries excellent. Sat inside so there was no wait. Service was with a smile!

Best breakfast in Studio City

By Charlie P |

I am a local and somewhat of a breakfast aficionado so I think the "Best" title comes with some authority. There are other fancier or more expensive places that will have a better dish or two, but if you want great omelettes, perfect pancakes (normal sized - not those super fat, dry things), and attentive service this is the place. Also it has a great funky outdoor patio that is great for a nice warm LA morning. Dogs are welcome too. If you are staying at Universal City and want a real breakfast come over here.

Great breakfast!

By Soraya K |

So glad that we tried Vivian’s! It was very close to our hotel, a big plus with six very hungry people looking for a good and filling breakfast. Get there early, the place is popular with the locals, there are tables inside or if your lucky you can be seated outside underneath a lovely avocado tree.

excellent food but.....

By SteamyRice |

Excellent food, awesome service but, OMG could you get a air conditioner!!?? 96 degrees out so we didn't want to sit on the patio but there was no air inside. So we found a shaded spot on the patio, ate our delicious breakfast drank our gigantic glasses of pineapple juice and got in our air conditioned car fast! If it wasn't so hot the patio would have been lovely. Wish there was air on the inside, I wouldn't enjoyed it more. We can't because we saw it on Leah reminis reality show we'll come back on a cooler day because we liked it.

Small portions, overpriced but Staff and service are good.

By Allen P |

We stayed at the Garland, came here based on good reviews. Staff and service are fine but breakfast was disappointing, portions are very small on a 9" round plate for breakfast omelette at $12. These are European portion at LA prices of breakfast chains. While food were cooked well as expected but small portions made it VERY EXPENSIVE! Example, we added avocado to our breakfast at $2.5 and got 1/2 a small fruit. The omelette was about size of 2 large eggs. Fellow travellers be warned.

Great selection of food

By TheTravellerRC |

We ate breakfast here as it was near our hotel. Really nice food with good service. Good value for money. Recommended.

Loved it!

By Vanessa Tascón |

Breakfast here was absolutely delicious! I just couldn't get enough of it! I got omelets, banana pancakes and hot chocolate, it was yummy. Wish I could have a breakfast like this everyday! The staff is very nice too. Loved this cozy place.

Iconic and historic.

By Erik F |

Several of my dear friends routinely love to have a brunch or dinner at Vivian's Millennium Cafe. It is a historic gathering spot in Studio City and insider hangout. This was my first time there and I met my friends for Sunday Brunch. Vivian's is famous for their pancakes and indeed they do make excellent pancakes. I had the gluten free option which was perhaps the best tasting pancakes I've ever had. I also had the pleasure of meeting the long time current owner who was delightful and fun; a joy to meet. We ran into Bridget Nielsen (the famous actor known best for Red Sonja and Rocky IV) who joined us at our table and enriched us with industry insights and a most stimulating conversation. However, I would recommend for Vivian's to consider providing more value for the pricing, and perhaps offer more Vegan/Vegetarian options on their menu.

We walked into this place for lunch on a whim from our stay at The Garland hotel in North Hollywood. Service was great and the food was excellent. So much that we came back for breakfast the next day as well. -- Friendly staff and quick service. Sat outdoors on the patio. Cool vibe. recommend.

Greeted but the owners

By Carolyn P |

Leah's Rimini father George and husband Angelo both greeted and posed for pictures. George took the time to sit and chat with us and made us feel very welcomed. The service and food I must say was excellent. Our visit to Viviana Millenium Cafe was our highlight of our California vacation. Thanks George for making us feel welcomed.

Great place for brunch

By AmandaDubs |

After coming in from the Burbank airport my friend picked me up and took me to Vivian's. She said that it's the brunch place that she always takes people that are visiting. It was definitely just what I needed! We walked around the corner of the cute converted house and chose a table ourselves then were brought waters and menus right away. They had great breakfast and lunch items. I ordered a breakfast burrito with a side of avocado and hashbrowns. It wasn't the most original or unique meal that I've had in the area but it was delicious, and hearty, and exactly what my body wanted after my two flights to get to Burbank. I could see myself going there a lot if I were a local. As it happens the friend who I went with is a regular and they brought her out a Coke which is her usual drink order right away. Great job Vivian's! I'm sure they'll continue to succeed.

What a great place this is. Went here mainly as it has gluten free options and it was local to where we were staying. Breakfast here was superb, service attentive and great price. Gluten free pancakes and waffles were the best we have had. Rate this place very highly.

Total surprise...and that's a good thing

By mesatraveler |

Just wandering around searching for restaurant with parking and found this spot. What a gem, tucked into a narrow patio surrounded by avocado trees. Excellent service and dog friendly as a bonus. Some of the best sandwiches we've found in the city.

Excellent food & excellent service!

Excellent food & excellent service! We ate at this restaurant every morning of our vacation. The building is so charming and secluded. We loved it. The staff were polite & helpful. Great food too! We'll definitely be back!

Just good food

Good food and good service. Such good prices in this city for a lot of food. Lives up to reputation. Pancakes were good as well as the omelets. Loved the whole experience.

Tasty

By David M |

We only spent a couple of days in LA on a tour of California. We found the Café just by looking for somewhere close to our hotel for breakfast. It doesn't look much from outside. We went round the back to sit outside under the canopy and the avocado tree. The menu is extensive and the food and service is great. It is not far from Universal studios. About 10-15min walk. worth a try if you're in the neighbourhood.

Great patio area, and even better food!

By sbizzle |

Based on the TA reports we decided to walk up to VMC for breakfast as it was cheaper than our hotel's. Oh boy- it was all delicious! All fresh ingredients freshly cooked, and charming service. We will most certainly be back!

Excelente choice!!

By PakoEstrada |

The service is very good, and the food is worth by the price you pay. Club sandwich is a good option!!

Stopped for Lunch

By DianaM93410 |

I had heard of Vivian's from tv and made sure we stopped by for lunch. I love that we were able to sit outside with all the green plants. Services was fabulous as well as the food. The staff there were all very nice. I even got a picture with Shannon, she is very sweet.

The BEST food in town!!

By Secondavenue |

I have eaten at this place many times, and each time is amazing. The veggie omelets are incredible!! And the banana pancakes are fantastic. Everything is fresh and well prepared. The atmosphere is fun too. Truly a wonderful place for a business lunch or breakfast, or just to meet friends!!

amazing food great prices and service

By hoghead215 |

We were in town for a few days for the 1st time and I have been dying to come to the café after being such a fan of the show and Leah. I had the California Cobb Salad and it was the best salad I have ever had. it was very filling and tasty and fresh. I will definitely come back next time we are in town. The service was great and just enjoyed everything.

Great food, great prices

By sanchezp381 |

I came all the way from San Antonio, TX! I was hoping to visit with the owners 😕. I really enjoyed the food. It was very tasty, the service was wonderful. I'm a fan, if I lived here, I would come eat at Vivian ' s move often.

Traveling from NYC it was the perfect experience. Nice to find a quiet place with quick service and great staff. My coffee cup was never made to go empty and the coffee was great! I ordered the Waitress Special w/ a side of Bacon & wheat toast. Exceptional and I will be stopping in again on this trip!

The best gluten-free pancakes!

By Lindsikins |

As someone with food allergies, I’m always relieved to find a place that has something I can eat. At Vivian’s, I get to actually have pancakes and they are delicious! I recommend them with one of the many add-ins. The atmosphere is very cozy and the outdoor patio is delightful. This is one of the breakfast spots around!

Good food but loud

By scottk521 |

I have been to Vivians in the past for breakfast, as my usual pace is closed for the holidays my friend and I went this morning. I had a very good house scramble of course changed to the way I like it without potatoes and with egg whites. We sat i the front at a table for two a group came in that took two large tables next to us, Unfortunately as the restaurant room in the front is very small this made for a very loud dining experience. Next time I would plan to sit in the back patio though cold in the winter was much more quiet. I would go back again.

Great breakfast

By daytripper097 |

Great breakfast. The pancakes are delicious and the hoervos rancheros are highly recommended. We ate here twice for breakfast and both times we came away very happy and very full. Definitely recommend if you’re staying in the area.

Wife's choice after watching It's All Relative

By brlittle |

Our first stop after landing in LA was to drive to Vivian's for lunch. My wife had seen the restaurant on one of her favorite reality shows from the past, Leah Remini: It's all relative. My wife was very excited just to be there, and to top it all off, the food was excellent! I had a very tender steak sandwich and my wife had George's tacos which were phenomenal. I wish we had stayed closer by and could have visited more. It was well worth the drive from the airport as a first LA stop.

I expected better.

By Tirzah D |

After reading all the reviews, I expected this place to be top notch. I asked for hot chocolate when we were seated and the waiter said they would check if they had any and then never came back with an answer. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast. The food was decent but not marvelous like everyone on here is raving about. If I was a local I wouldn't make my way back... I would venture to other restaurants near by.

It wasn't breakfast, it was a banquet!

By Falkirkdolly |

We recently stayed at the nearby Garland Hotel with our children whilst travelling the Pacific Highway. I found this nearby cafe on trip adviser and I am so glad I did. It was one of the highlights of our stay in LA. Much cheaper than eating in the Garland and so much food for the money! We sat in the beautiful patio area surrounded by all the lovely plants. It was a lovely temperature in the shade and it had plenty of atmosphere. I had Lox & eggs which was scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and hash brown and came with a bagel and cream cheese. My husband had omelette which he loved. My kids had so much food that they could not eat it all. In hindsight, had we realised there would be so much food we would have shared our meals and this would have also reduced the cost as well. George, one of the owners was at an adjacent table and chatted to us. All in all it was fun and I would definitely recommend.

Great breakfast spot

By Chris B |

Here with the family visiting Universal Studios and wanted a good local place for breakfast as an alternative to the overpriced hotel option. Fast friendly service, good food and reasonable prices. Only a short drive from the hotel. Would definitely recommend!

Great start to our LA holiday!

By CCAlderley |

We stumbled on Vivian's this morning after a fairly aimless wander around LA following an early morning flight into LA. Have to say this was very lucky discovery - we sat out on the patio under a massive avocado(?) tree. Cosy, lovely friendly service and great food! Would definitely recommend that you go here if you are in the area and want to avoid the usual 'tourist trap' type places. Very kid friendly.

Warm and Inviting

By KimandDarrenTravel |

We were staying at the Garland and of course used trip advisor to get a list of neighbouring restaurants. Hubby and I ended up eating here twice it was so good.

Worth the Hype

By Jeff M |

Their pancakes are the best! Everyone enjoyed their food. Parking was easy but could see it would be difficult if they were very busy. Only open until 3. Yes actors do eat there and we spoke to one who has been in multiple movies. Decent prices - it was $65 including tip for four meals and drinks which is great for the LA area. Sitting in the patio area is very enjoyable and WILL return.

Great place for Breakfast

By SimonF64 |

If you want to try a reasonably priced typical American breakfast with good service and within walking distance of the Beverly Garland, this is the place to go! Simple!

Perfect breakfast spot

By Dorlcote |

During a week’s stay at the Garland,we had breakfast at Vivian’s several times as we were very happy to return again and again! The staff are very friendly and whilst others have noted the cafe is very unassuming from outside ,it is a great place to eat particularly on the outside patio in a very relaxed and comfortable setting. At breakfast time, there is a fantastic selection of dishes but we loved the omelettes, the fluffy pancakes( particularly blueberry)and the bacon.I simply cannot relate to the reviewer who suggested that portions are small as we found them to be enormous particularly the pancakes and I defy anyone to eat more than two! Within walking distance of Universal (say 15 minutes) and is highly recommended.

Best breakfast ever!

By Anne G |

A quiet little place with an excellent menu - breakfast options were too plentiful to choose from, but when we did, not any of the party of 3 were disappointed...coffee and tea were great too!

Underwhelming

By Lisa T |

We decided to give it a try based on the excellent reviews. Underwhelmed. Patio area in the back is nice. Very tight space. The wait staff was unfriendly and I felt a little uppity. Food was not good. The eggs tasted off to me. The pancakes are the only decent food we had. Don't try the huevos rancheros you will be shocked. Runny mess. Not returning.

Superb breakfast - would definitely recommend

By ChrisGower1975 |

I was in Walgreens right near this place and the guy serving me recommended we try here for breakfast. I'm so grateful for the tip as this place is amazing. There are a few 'moany' reviews on here about the service. The service is brilliant and everyone is RUSHED off their feet. It does take a little while on the service side of things but that is not because the staff are slacking, it's because it is a quality establishment that is very busy! The food was lovely and my wife and I had a lovely experience here. Highly recommended.

Excellent place

By Camille T |

It was a delicious lunch. We sat in the patio area, I'm a huge fan of the show& took a picture with Leah remini sister.

Excellent

By Amber A |

Food was amazing! Service was great! White chocolate pancakes were the best! New favorite breakfast place when I'm in the area!

Best breakfast in LA

By zeeshan66 |

The best breakfast and even better service I have had in a long time! We enjoyed everything from the little ally way and outback warm/covered seating to the food. This is one of the few times my wife and I have gone out of our way to offer an extra tip to the staff. KEEP IT UP!!

GREAT FIND

By Frances B |

Discovered this gem while taking a walk. It reminded me of my grandmother's kitchen! Breakfast selections were plentiful and delicious with huge portions. Staff was so polite and accommodating. It doesn't look like much from the outside but don't be discouraged!! Get a table outside and hear the birds singing.

Great Breakfast!

By ianmayhew |

Stayed at the Garland Hotel and visited this place for breakfast prior to hitting the Boulevard. Awesome breakfast, pancakes sausages and bacon with great service. if we'd stayed longer we would definitely have returned!

Nice, relaxing weekday lunch!

By msubulldog25 |

[4/12/2016] The locals that my colleague and I were meeting with are regulars at Vivian's, so that's where they took us for a casual business lunch. After a short wait for a table of 5, we were seated on the cozy porch, beneath the canopy and an enormous avocado tree. Liked the laid-back "hippie" (our host's comment...) vibe to the place - it felt very "Portland" to me. Service was fast and friendly...and patient, good when there are so many options for breakfast/lunch. I picked the Crew's Scramble, a massive plate of eggs, potatoes, onions, peppers, avocado and cheese. Tasty & filling. Others seemed satisfied with their choices. I understand this place gets crowded on weekends and gained some fame by appearing on a reality show. On a weekday, it just seemed like a cheerful little neighborhood cafe - the kind I'd want to visit all the time if I lived in the area. Good call by our hosts and glad we went to Vivian's!

Hope to see a star

By VictoriaLaxman |

Our friends wanted to go there as the watch a reality show which stars George Marshall, and guess what we walked in and there he was. We had a little chat with him, then enjoyed a great breakfast. We saw a star, if there were others Present I would not know.

Nom Nom

By flossy_h |

We ate breakfast here when we stayed at the nearby The Garland hotel. The food was yummy and the staff were friendly. My husband had a waffle, my daughter pancakes and I had the omelette. Would recommend is staying nearby for breakfast.

Italian Omelette To Die For

By cynnerz |

Friendly staff and food that was outstanding. Small on the inside, about 6 tables, and a large patio out back. Walk through the kitchen to get to the back patio. Service was fantastic. Food was even better. The Italian omelette with Italian sausage was so divine. Came with home fries(so tasty) and toast. Bottomless cups of coffee to boot. All for a very reasonable price. Cheap and cheerful. Thanks to George and our server for the pens. Will visit again next time I am in LA.

Great easy food

By Meeshlee |

We ate here twice for breakfast. Great place to stop by when walking to the Universal / Studio City metro station. Pancakes were huge and really good. Great selection of food and enough to keep you going until the evening. We didn't need to eat lunch. Would come back again as the service was excellent as well.

Brunch at Vivian's

By Mary S |

We decided to go because my daughter watches Leah Remini's TV show. I have seen the Cafe on some of the episodes so we knew what to expect. It is a quaint outdoor seating area, you feel like you are eating in someone's backyard. Since we were going for the experiences and to say we had eaten there.... I guess I didn't know what to expect as far as the food was concerned . Boy, was I pleasantly surprised...the food was delicious!!! Between the 4 of us we had both breakfast and lunch dishes and we all agreed, it was fabulous! I would definitely visit Vivian's again! (Oh and in case you are a fan of the tv show...Shannon really does work there...we saw her in action!)

Nice portions, great food & friendly staff

By Mandeep H |

I loved it there! I got a lot of food when I ordered the pancake combo. It was affordable! We sat in the back outdoor area which was very nice! Use the bathrooms in the back, it is not in the way of staff!

Mr harris

By Phillip H |

What a great find. Food was great and service was awesome!!! You can eat inside and outside. A must try if your in the area👍👍

Well prepared breakfast classics - dine in the back yard!

By gosaka |

This is my second visit and first review of this L.A. classic. My wife and I were looking for a breakfast option on our route of travel for the day and we stopped in here based on TA reviews. I had completely forgotten that I'd been here before until we walked into the back patio. It's such a comfortable, "homey" environment not to be forgotten. Our breakfast options were all well prepared. Nothing stood out as "special" but then again it was all so much better than what you might get at a chain restaurant. You'll also definitely get a feel for the neighborhood vibe.

Very nice

By Callum A |

The food here is very nice, the staff are pleasent and it's very clean, I really enjoyed my dinning experience here.

Just Great...

By Rome1965 |

My friend Danno brought me here for breakfast, what can I say service great, food great, it's just a little gem in the hiding....it's a must if your in Studio City...

Nice food 2 mins a way from universal

By jennyo2005 |

Nice food good service 2 mins away from universal the staff and other diners were very helpful and told us the best route to take around universal studios. Parking meters outside 50 cents for half an hour perfect

Awesome family breakfast

By Anton G |

5 kiwis rocked up for a seriously late breakfast and were very well looked after. Angelo's mince and eggs - yum! Friendly staff, lovely sunny courtyard, good coffee. Would eat again!

Like you walked into mom's kitchen for breakfast.

By DesertProwler |

We heard about Vivian's Millenium Cafe from the Reality TV show spotlight they did on Vivians a few years back. We were excited to find out that it is only a few miles away from Universal Studios Hollywood, so we decided to be there first thing Sunday morning. The staff was welcoming and the food was like mom had made it. Fresh, hot, homestyle cooking. Everyone was very attentive to our needs. Couple things to note: Come early to avoid crowds or plan on waiting a bit as they seem to fill up fast. Most of the Dinning tables are outside.(which was nice.) Parking is a little difficult. There is metered street parking(free on Sunday). If you don't mind a little bit of a walk there is a park and ride lot just down the street you could park at as well. Alley parking behind Vivian's is reserved for other businesses.

Great breakfast

By Bansteadfamily |

Our first breakfast in LA and it was worth the uber ride! Lovely choice of food, huge portions, well cooked and presented cooked and tasted great!

Wonderful

By awds |

From the outside it looks like a small quaint eatery once inside it opens out into an amazing outside eating area The food is very varied with a menu to suit everybody's taste. The portion sizes are enormous, the food is fresh, excellently prepared and cooked to perfection. The staff are very helpful and friendly. A lovely relaxed place to eat, prices are reasonable but it gets busy

Highly recommended

By Valw99 |

Enjoyed sitting in the inside/outside dining area where the service and meals were excellent. We had both breakfast and lunch on different days and would definitely go again. The Café is across the road from the small shopping centre at 10968 Ventura Blvd, Studio City and closes at 3.30pm,

Best Food Ever

My New Favorite Place

By Jason S |

We visited this cafe because my wife an I are big fans of the TV show that this was featured in. Well, I have to say this is one of the enjoyable lunches that I had for a long time. The food was good, the atmosphere was excellent, and the people there were the best.

Very nice place to eat

By Brent N |

We grabbed lunch before heading out to Hollywood area. We got the chicken salad, Caesar salad, small chili and burger.

Small and great

By louise_girouard |

We went for breakfast while looking for a place to eat across the street. It turned out to be great. We sat in the back with all the plants , very peaceful like a little oasis. Service was great, food was wonderful. Will go back for sure

A Little Gem

By Badgersniff |

As part of a family holiday to Hawaii we had a two night stop over in LA. We stayed at rhe Garland Hotel in North Hollywood and found this excellent place using TripAdvisor. The reviews were great and this one just adds to what is a fantastically friendly, local eatery serving wonderful food. We had breakfast there twice and it was fresh and plentiful. The menu is vast so whilst a good old American breakfast is a must for some there are numerous other options yo suit a European diet! The location itself is unassuming on the outside but wonder out back and sit in the patio area and enjoy the ambience. You will not be disappointed and if you are I will eat a 2 x 2 x 2 with an ultimate pancake upgrade !!! 😊😊

A nice little place

By adibrand |

We had breakfast in the restaurant twice during our stay at a neighborhood hotel and both were nice. The food is nice and diversed and the back yard of the house is very nice.

Great Breakfast

I've been coming here over seven years, everything's perfect, the decor, service, food, atmosphere, the clientele. Indoor/outdoor seating. I can walk from home to get here.

Worst service in the whole of L.A

By sarahk |

This place is the worst service I have received whilst been in L.A. The food isn’t bad however the service of the staff is ridiculous, so rude and unprofessional. One of the staff members from the moment we sat down was rude and ignorant to me and my mum, she did not serve us and left is waiting for someone else to serve us however welcomed guests who came in after us. I’m not sure if it is a racial thing as I come from an Indian background but the attitude of this young women was disgusting to a point we felt uncomfortable and just left. This individual is ruining the reputation of the business and they really should look into client satisfaction as they do not know the meaning of it. The women was a young individual with dark medium length hair and was tanned. Not a nice end to my holiday

Great food, great staff!

By Sparkle1974 |

We booked a 5 night trip to Hollywood and stayed at The Garland Hotel. We were recommended Vivian's cafe as somewhere to get a great breakfast and we were not disappointed!!! The cafe itself looks quite small from the sidewalk however it has inside and outdoor dining areas so don't put off it it looks busy. The cafe was spotlessly clean and the comprehensive breakfast menu means there is something for everyone! The staff were lovely and remembered us the following day when we returned. In fact, we enjoyed the food that much that we ate there on all 5 days of our trip and didn't even try looking for an alternative. Location is only 10 minutes walk from Universal City / Studio City metro station and Universal Studios and as we weren't driving it was very convenient as en-route from our hotel. I would strongly recommend Vivian's Millenium Cafe, it's gems like this that make a holiday that extra bit special. Thanks! x

Fantastic

By rachel b |

We discovered this gem our second day into a 5 day visit to LA the food was amazing the best gluten free breakfast I have had in a while. I loved having my coffee in a real homely coffee mug. Fantastic. A hidden gem but very busy only the locals know about it it seems. Fantastic

Great quirky restaurant!!!

By Keith R |

Food was excellent and service was outstanding. I had the strawberry french toast and my wife had an omelet. Both dishes were outstanding. Cost was very reasonable as well for the area.

Great breakfast find!

By EmmaH |

Excellent menu with great variety of breakfast options. Decent portions without being overloaded and really tasty food. My poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Lovely atmosphere in the garden/patio area.

Awesome Breakfast!

By Angela M |

My husband and I were in town for vacation, and we had seen Vivian's on Leah Remini's reality show. We decided to give it a try...and we are glad we did! While the place was much smaller than it appeared on TV, and Leah was correct in trying to get her stepdad to update the furniture and decor, the breakfast was fantastic! We had eggs, bacon, Hashbrowns, grits, biscuits and toast. Everything was absolutely delicious! If you're able to check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Great Food! A must if you are in the area

By MikeB0167 |

We stopped in around 9 am on a Monday morning and got right in, no wait. The staff was very friendly and the the food was great! The banana pancakes were awesome!! The servings were generous and the prices were very fair. We had a lot of questions because of food allergies and our server was very helpful and knowledgeable. We recommend eating back on the covered patio. Next time we are in LA we will definitely be back to visit. Great choice for breakfast!!

Felt like true LA

By racgem |

We were staying in a local hotel so decided to take a wander down the street. We're so glad we cam across Vivian's. The food was delicious and the price was reasonable. The service was laid back but friendly. We wish we'd found the tiny café earlier in our stay.

So good we went the next day too !

By Wizard Toby |

A friend told us of this cafe. They serve breakfast and lunch as long as they are open but they are only open till around 3:00 PM. The service and food was freakin awesome. Coffee was great (which is actually pretty rare for me). I had the Crew Platter with a scramble of veggies, Turkey sausage and eggs. I almost wouldn't let my mates try it since it was so good. The next day we returned and I had the Ultimate Pancake platter. I had tried this from one of my friends and we all ordered it today. The wait staff were remarkably polite, provided service precisely when we needed it, and were available quickly for the check. Yesterday we ate inside and today we dined outside in the back. All around it was a great dining experience. I can't wait to go back !
