Lunch for his bday was horrible

By M C |

Went to grab a nice lunch and a few drinks before heading to AC asked for a surprise dessert with a candle they forgot. Waited 15 minutes to order. Waited 45 minutes for food. Had to sit threw the bartender telling her co worker how she needed a boyfriend. Never was asked if we needed a refill. And getting our check took forever. you need patients to go yo this place

Great jazz brunch

By Chrysta N |

My husband and I had a reservation for 11am to dine during the jazz brunch. We were seating right away and immediately hit the buffee tables. We had to ask twice for someone to come take our beverage orders, which was a bit annoying, but our waittress was very attentive from that point on. The food was amazing. There weren't many breakfast options, which suited me just fine as I was in the mood for some down home cooking. The brisket, shrimp etoufee w/ cheese grits, salmon, crab salad, greens, green beans, and yams were all great! There weren't many dessert options to choose from, but that was ok too because I was too full to complain. The jazz band was good as well. The music was a little loud but it did create a lively atmosphere. My husband is already making plans for us to return to Philly just for brunch.

What I think philly is all about

By Claudia C |

I was very hesitant to visit wamdaddy's after reading the mixed reviews, but I really liked it. I don't really do reviews, but thought that I owed it to others and warmdaddys to just say thankyou for a fabulous experience. I went with my husband for our 11th wedding anniversary, and with my brother - in - law to celebrate his wife's 40th, so this was a pretty big deal. I loved the food which I really had not expected to like, given the mixed reviews. I loved the mango mojito, and the music was great, especially when you get up and dance. There really is not a dance floor per se, but if you are brave enough to go to the front of the restaurant, you can really have a good time and dance. All in all a great experience. It was not cheap though, $200, for the four of us, and we did not have dessert, and had three drinks between the four of us. Great for a special occasion. I loved my server, and it was just really nice.

Wont return

By Corey R |

Not pleased with the service.. Waitress was really rude and messed up the order.. After messing up she comes back with a corny joke about my card being declined! We called complaining about the service we were not treated well b ly management eventhough they were recieving many calls about this waitress... Food wasnt great either

Delicious!!!

By Shanea W |

The southern cuisine was off the hook! Everything tasted home made. If I would have had unlimited access to the kitchen I would hurt myself trying to eat everything in site. Definite winner

Excellent food and service

By Mama_C_215 |

They have the best cornbread in the world. We love the food and the staff is always cordial and efficient. It's difficult to believe the negative comments here.

Amazing Brunch!!!

By kpax5 |

For 24.95 this is by far one of the best brunches in the city!!! It offers something for everyone... from Jerk Chicken to Sweet potato pancakes to banana pudding!!! The cornbread and biscuits will leave you going back for more!! They also offer live music! We listened to "Jazz Jordan" while we were there....EXCELLENT and very ENGAGING!! By the time we left....everyone was singing and clapping along!! One word of advice...this is a VERY popular place...reservations are a must!!

Had the pleasure of singing You Are My Sunshine to my wife with Amazin' Grace Little proding me on.

Top of the line entertainment with delicious mouth watering food. Reservations are a must. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly. as was the entire crowd. If we are ever in the Philly area again we will assuredly make a point to have another meal and enjoy the entertainment.

"Incompetent server"

By Zaphria |

My husband and myself went there for his birthday and we made a reservation and was seated in a timely manner. Once seated our server did not get our drink order for 10 minutes and then got it wrong. The music was good but loud and when the entrée finally came the food was good. My second serving of crab legs took 20 minutes to come by then we were ready to go. We would visit again but would want another server!

Hidden gem great food and Live entertainment. This was my third visit, with each visit I must say I’ve never been disappointed. I throughly enjoyed the brunch. Left the restaurant super satisfied.

Delectable Food & Amazing First Time Experience!!!

By nobaxter |

My fiancé and I went to Warmdaddy's last night to celebrate his 30th birthday and we had a phenomenal time from beginning to end! We had 7pm reservations and were seated quickly. The staff are all friendly. Our server Joe was so nice and attentive. We loved the atmosphere and the live jazz band that played. They were amazing. The food here is to die for and left us in a coma by the end of the night. We had the famous cornbread, jerk chicken rolls, skillet mac and cheese with crab, catfish entrée and jambalaya entrée with candied yams, green beans and mashed potatoes for sides, all of which were heavenly. My drink could have been a little stronger but it was still good. Food and drinks came out in a timely manner. They gave my fiancé a shout out on stage for his birthday and brought him a yummy slice of cake with a candle. We really enjoyed ourselves and the atmosphere/vibe was so relaxing. This is our new spot and we will definitely be back. We live in south NJ and it is so worth the drive and crossing the bridge. Food prices were reasonable too. I HIGHLY recommend that you all give Warmdaddy's a try if you are a lover of soul food. You will not be disappointed, I promise!! :-)

Customer service A+

By jerseyjeffers |

Came for Sunday brunch and to hear live music. Was not disappointed in any way. The food was delicious, my favorite was shrimp and grits, candied yams, so good, and the customer service was on point. We sat at the bar ( place was crowed and I can see why :) ) and the bartender Stacy, was very pleasant, drinks were just right. Want to thank Yvette, the manger, for taking the time to ensure our time there was special, she was very friendly and attentive and we truly appreciated, we had such a good time.

Nice Jazz club

By jonm181 |

One of the better jazz venues I have been too. The music is always good, as well as the food, if you like soul food. Had the braised ribs the last time I was there, and they were the best! Good portions too. The only negative is the size of the dining room, it gets tight when it is full, but overall a good experience

Great food & staff

By PhillyKev1264 |

Stopped in after a movie, just as they were opening for the evening. The hostess was cheerful and welcomed my wife as this was her first visit. Our server Laura was very knowledgeable and offered us numerous drink suggestions. Our food was brought out quickly and was very good. I had the bbq short rib sandwich(wonderful)w/seasoned fries(ok), while my wife had the cheddar shrimp & grits(excellent), and brought home a portion of their pineapple upside down bread pudding(yummy!). It was a great experience, one I'm sure we'll have again soon

Philly Blues Heaven Located on Columbus Boulevard

By TomEBoy10 |

Got back to Philly after 5 years of being away and finally made it to Warmdaddys brand new spot on the river. Beautiful decor and great sight lines - not a bad seat in the house. My favorite Chicago Blues Band Magic Slim and the Teardrops rocked the place as you would expect the Magic Man to do.The food was great - enjoyed my steak and the famous cornbread.Service was exemplary and attentive. Also enjoyed some Sammy Adams seasonal white ale on draft.Really loved the free parking feature of the new location. If you love Blues music and southern food what are you waiting for?Head to Warmdaddys.

Best Creamy Grits!

By MarylandStinn |

My family went to celebrate my granddaughter's birthday last weekend. My mom, who is a southerner, said those were the best grits and she never made them that good. The music was good - one band member played with the original Stylistics and another band member played in the Emeril (Lagasse) Live band. Our entire group had a great time.

Good southern food

By Joy K |

I was invited by a friend to listen to some music on a Sunday...didn't realize the place was also a restaurant and also had a roof top bar. Anyways, we were so full from lunch so i only had some chowder soup and corn bread. Which was delicious. One of my friends had the jambalaya meal which she enjoyed. unfortunately, the band that was playing was way way to loud. Not good for ones digestive system.. :)))) it was a good band though. Then upstairs was a roof top bar and a DJ.. it's a cool place to hang out. Parking is available, so that was nice. Would go back!

Great comfort food

By GerryBaron06 |

I ate lunch here with several of my fraternity brothers. The food did not disappoint. I had the Gumbo Yaya and Spicy Chicken Sandwich accompanied with the Passion Fruit Punch. Everything was delicious. Our server was outstanding. She was engaging and attentive.

Worst night out

By mookie1993 |

Our party of 8 went to Warm Daddy's last night. We had a 9:30 PM reservation but did not get seated until just about 10:30 PM! We stood along the wall after paying the $10.00 per person cover charge. The night got worse... The front man finally offered us something to drink - but not a place to sit down. He got most of the drinks mixed up and they ran out of 2 types of alcohol. By the time we were fimally seated and ready to order, they had run out of mac and cheese! They also ran outof pecans for their pecan topped salad. One of my dinner companions order mashed potatoes- they arrived cold... so he informed the waiter. The cold mashed potatoes came back with HOT gravy over them! My order was a veggie burger with a side of sweet potato fries. Well, I got the last 4 fries in the pan and the rest were regular old white potato fries! I asked about this and they said they "mix" them - well, funny thing, no one ekse at the table got "mixed" fries! I was not impressed with the decor or the lack of atmosphere here. The music was so loud that you could not hold a conversation with the person next to you. (It was THAT LOUD!) We texted each other on our cell phones! The waiter we were assigned was cool - that was th eonly bright spot! The manager could have cared less! I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Good Food & Service

By humphreyjl |

I had the typical fried chicken dinner with sweet potatoes and green beans. Very well seasoned and tasty. Our waiter good and came to check on us several times, one of the things I was leary of because of some reviews I read. I would definitely go back.

Birthday Jazz Brunch

By pljones |

Warmdaddy's is the place to be on a Sunday morning or early afternoon. On October 30th, seven of us were there to celebrate myself and another friend's birthdays. We made reservations because we knew in advance how crowded this restaurant can be on a Sunday because of the brunch. I've eaten at this restaurant several times before and knew I would not be disappointed. They have all the traditional breakfast foods including an egg station where you can have your eggs prepared to your heart's desire. Secondly, I love that they include turkey bacon and sausage. The buffet also offers traditional "soul food" dishes like collard greens, yams, and fried chicken. The food is always delicious! Some of the best musicians in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas come to perform at Warmdaddy's. This day was no exception. Besides Sunday Jazz Brunch, Warmdaddy's has a Happy Hour on Fridays from 5-7PM with lots of prizes, complimentary snacks and fun atmosphere. They have dinner nightly with featured artists (additional cost for evening shows). If it's good food and good music you're looking for......Warmdaddy's is definitely the place to be.

What happened to Warmdaddy's???

By SouthernMan56 |

Two years ago, we celebrated a birthday there for our daughter ... great food, great service, great time. Fast-forward to last night: worst service we've ever experienced in a restaurant!!! Eight of us went to celebrate another birthday. We had reservations for 7:15. The place was NOT even close to being crowded, but it still took forever just to get water! Waiter went "missing" for 15 minutes ... bartender finally comes over with a few of our drinks. Waiter finally comes back with the rest of the drinks, but they are wrong. It just got worse from there. The cornbread (which used to be my favorite part of Warmdaddy's) was dry. The fried chicken was overcooked and dry (looked like it had been cooked last week). Collard greens were tough! My wife tried to order a beer ... waiter told us that they only had Bud Light. It was laughable!!! Unfortunately, we were a party of eight, so the gratuity was added in to the bill. Too bad. It used to be such a nice place.

Filled the void.

By Esther K |

Food filled the void. Not outstanding, just average. The mac and cheese, I make better. the french fries standard fair, the cat fish I can make, 4 at our table, no real thrills about their meals. the waitress did not refill our water glasses. she stated she did neglect us and would give us corn bread to go, we said fine, but as we paid our bill and left none appeared. Not that I cared, but our friends were driving home to Buffalo, NY that night and might have had some to much on. Would I recommend this place, No. I have eaten in southern fare restaurants down in many Southern states, find this missing the mark totally.

Great ethnic food

By ESJT |

Good start with barbecued beef short ribs, collard greens - excellent. Finish with pineapple bread pudding. Really good service, friendly and timely. Live music, good parking. A fine evening.

price to high for very small room

By Chevonne T |

The food was good, its just very very cramped in the resturant. You have no room to walk irena eat. it is nothing intimate about this place. The other thing i don't like is how they make you pay a cover charge to eat in the restaurant.

Jazz Buffet Brunch

By DMO68 |

I had the pleasure of going here for my birthday on 11/25/2012 . I was really excited because I had heard so many wonderful things . So the atmosphere here was great and our waitress was excellent , the music and the Jazz performer was awsome and I even got a birhtday shout out . The only thing's that I didnt like about the buffet was that you could not order from the regular menu during the buffet hours and they only had dark meat for the chicken. The buffet was ok , however my partner was not all that crazy about the buffet and since the regular menu was not avaiable, she did not eat that much . Needless to say the music and our waitress made up for the buffet . I would go again, to try out the regular menu and also for the entertainment .

BEWARE OF HOLIDAY GIFT CERTIFICATES

By Greg_Marina |

I have been trying to redem a gift certificate my daughter bought me last holiday... to no avail. They will not reply to my email request, will not return calls and I went there and they shuffled me to the bar to wait for a manager who mysteriously disappeared. It's beyond me and I hate to tell my daughter who worked so hard to buy us this 'gift'. What a ripoff and pitiful excuse for management.

"5" for Entertaintment but "3" for Food

By JJVTheStoryteller |

My cousin recommended that I go to Warmdaddy's when I visited Philadelphia. I was working in Jersey and could not wait to visit Warmdaddy's based on her telling how wonderful the food was. WARNING: IF you go on a Friday or Saturday evening, there is a $15 CASH cover charge for entertainment in addition to your meal and drinks. I must say I was somewhat put off by this charge since I really was more interested in the food. At any rate, I did not have $15 cash on me and was not going to pay the outrageous fee charged by teller. So one of the worker's told be about PNC Bank where they did not charge. Well, it is true, PNC Bank did not charge a fee, but my bank charged me a fee. Ok, I am getting a little off track here. Well the employee at the restaurant told me it was a 5 minute walk to the store where the PNC teller was located. It was hot and humid that day, and that 5 minute walk was more like a ten minute walk in humidity with big chunks of the sidewalk missing causing me to have to walk in the street where the traffic was horrendous. I was almost side-swiped by a big rig. After my twenty minute venture, I returned to the club wet and mad but said, "I am going to do this because my cousin said the food was da bomb." I looked at the menu and nothing really caught my eye except for the fried catfish. So I ordered catfish, green beans, and yams; cornbread comes with every order. The ONLY thing I enjoyed was the cornbread and that came well after I was finished with my dinner. I am from Louisiana and there we eat cornbread and milk. All I needed was a can of evaporated milk and I would have been happy. But I sat and ate my cornbread and did not complain about the $25 I paid for the meal. Now the entertainment, was definitely worth the $15. I am not certain who the lady entertainer was but she had a nice voice and engaged the audience. I went alone, but it was if I was there with a lot of people because I had a great time with the folks sitting next to me. There were birthday parties, graduation parties, anniversary celebrations etc. So the environment was very festive. And the servers are also very friendly. Just don't get to hyped about getting great food and I would definitely recommend Warmdaddy's as a MUST-VISIT when there is live entertainment.

Good Food! Live Jazz

By deepcreek32 |

I came here with a friend and her family to have dinner on Sunday. When I first walked in I noticed that it had an upstairs to the restaurant as well. We were placed by the stage which was an nice location to have dinner until the music started. The music was great, we loved the band...a little loud but it was okay. As far as the food, I had the turkey wings, collard greens, and potato salad. Everything was good. The meat fell off the turkey wings. So good food, live jazz, and nice atmosphere are things I enjoy. I will be coming back.

Cornbread gets the spotlight..

By Tye G |

Food is OK,, some dishes could be more tasty. The seafood gumbo, or yaya I think it's called, was yummy. The cornbread is always sweet, lightly cripsy on the top and addictive!!-LOL.. Drinks are great as well. The live jazz is my favorite part! Such a relaxing time to experience!!

Food and entertainment

By Traveller1642 |

We found this place by accident. We arrived at the movie theater about an hour early and decided to check out the area before going into the theater. A "Warmdaddy's" employee greeted us in the plaza area and invited us to check out the restaurant and the music. He arranged with the receptionist to wave the cover charge. The place has a down stair dining/entertainment section with a bar, and a rooftop bar area that serves food. Although the rooftop bar would have been very pleasant to just sit and enjoy a drink, the music is in the down stair section. The 4 piece band was very good and 2 vocalist switched off signing/performing/interacting with the crowd. Yes, both singers walked around the dining area during their performances and will target specific individuals to "sing" to. We order a drink, enjoyed the show for a while before leaving the facility to watch the movie. If we are in the area again, we will probably make this part of the entertainment schedule.

Good Southern Food

By Belin421 |

Leaving the theatre I decided to check out the menu. To my surprise I found Southern Shrimp and Grits as an appetizer. I also found out the appetizers and drinks are half price until 4:00 pm. Needless to say it was delicious.

Great brunch and even better music

By Michael G |

Wow! What a region's gem (not just a neighborhood but one for the entire region). There are only a few impressive brunches in the region (Wm. Penn Inn, Waterworks, Four Seasons, etc.) and this is DEFINITELY in the top ranking. Mix excellent food (including omelet station of course) with great live Jazz music and wow! This was our first time there and at almost an hour's drive each way we intend to put this on the list for a regular place to brunch.

Great food and great entertainment!!

By LQW127 |

I loved the cornbread, and I'm pretty picky. The entrainment was great!! We saw several bands, and one was better than the next. A must visit in Philly.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

By missgirl2 |

The food is always good BUT the customer service is lousy I have been ther about six times in the past six months for the food the waitress was horrible on several occasions so I decided to try the bar .. The bar maid left my drink at the bar while I was sitting on the side away from the bar as she carries someone else's food in her hand she stops in front of me to point out where she left my drink . The manager Bobby is really nice but he must just listen to complaints and don't make any changes smh warm daddy's thumbs down train the staff or hire new ones . Went for brunch the bar manager was making sample drinks for the waitresses to try while I watched and waited for my bill two sample drinks down I stood up to let the waitress know I was waiting who hurriedly came to the table

Good food, better atmosphere

By Monique M |

Warmdaddys food is good. It's my favorite soul food spot in Philly, even though the food is hit or miss. The firecracker shrimp and the Mac&cheese are always good. The fish and red rice are usually a bit too dry for my tastes, but overall, the dinner food is okay. Brunch on the other hand, is delicious!!! The best part about Warmdaddys is the live music on Friday/sat nights! And as for location, it's beside the movie theatre so it's the perfect spot for a well-rounded night with friends or a date. It's also on the same strip as Penns Landing (not walking distance though) and other fun places, so location is a bonus.

Spontaneous stop in

My wife &I stop into Warm daddy's on 10/23/15.we decided to come here while our teen daughter was a couple of exits down at Power99 concert.Though we did not have reservations, we was welcomed in seated&served Excellent food.if anyone ever has read my previous reviews you know I key in on how clean a place is as well as how safe the area is.All aspect of this place was safe ,clean &must do over &over again for us.from the Management down to the waiters &waitress ...get TWO THUMBS UP.They have my vote.Need more establishments like Warmdaddys on the east coast.

Excellent service, food, and music

By Tommy Big Toe |

I went here with a large group of friends and I enjoyed the place from the moment I walked in. My group arrived early so we could have some drinks before the dinner. It was a Saturday night, and it was absolutely packed with people and as far as parking goes, there is a small lot in front of the restaurant that will most likely be full of cars so there is a lot of additional parking under I-95 nearby for much needed extra parking, and there were signs pointing to the lot from what I remember. The food was superb and I have no complaints with it. My group ordered three of the Family-Style Samplers, which include catfish fingers, jerk chicken spring rolls, hot wings and chicken tenders (which come with 4 dipping sauces). I typically do not eat much seafood, but the catfish was delicious and reminded me somewhat of chicken fingers. For my entree, I had the Southern Fried Chicken Dinner, and I have no complaints with that either. The chicken was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside, and if fried chicken is something you are fond of like I am, give this meal a try and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed! There was a live music performance that I enjoyed during the time my group had drinks as well as during the time we ate dinner. I'm not exactly sure what genre it was as I'm not a music expert, but just to give an idea, this place is known for having R&B, jazz and blues musicians to name a few. The performance was quite loud, but I enjoyed it and in this kind of restaurant, it is to be expected.

Down Home Cooking

By Carol M |

I traveled from New York during a training and WarmDaddy was suggested by a worker in My Hotel. I felt at home the atmosphere was great, the music and food was a delight just a little to much sugar on top of the cornbread, but whenever i am in town or passing through i will stop in. This restaurant has Down South cooking yum yum

An Entertainment Fee?

By G.D. Red Morgan |

I happen to have read another advisor's comment and I couldn't agree more. The food was wonderful, atmosphere was great and even the entertainment was enjoyable. Charging a $15 entertainment entry fee was ridiculous. I felt that showed a little arrogance on the restaurant's part but if you can get away with it, hey! Otherwise it was a very good experience and the food was really good. Gave hefty portions. To much for me but works for others. Overall was a great experience.

Excellent atmosphere and food!!!!

By DeeHoward30 |

I visited Philly for the Eagles vs Cowboys game in September. My friend whom lives in Delaware suggested we meet at Warmdaddy's for a night out. We ended up having an additional couple come (my stepson and his friend) the staff accommodated our larger party with ease. The live music was fantastic and the food and drinks were great!! I had a jambalaya with chicken, shrimp, sausage and mussels.....it was to die for.

Music and a meal

By don k |

Took a trip to Philly for some good food and music. I was not disappointed. Live Jazz was great and the food was really good. I highly recommend their cornbread, other than my spouse's never had any that good. Overall good place to visit

Food was excellent

By TEC7161982 |

A friend took us here when we visited Philly during a weekend trip and I must say that this is some of the best soul food cooking I have had in a while. You might want to call in for reservations as the place can crowded fast. There also might be a cover charge because they do have a live band playing. The service was ok, a little slow but the staff was polite and nice though. I ordered the fried chicken meal where they give you every piece of the chicken (leg, wing, thigh and breast) and 2 sides with cornbread. They also have chicken and waffles on the menu as well. Not the best waffle I ever tasted but it was ok. The cheese grits was by the far the best cheese grits. My entire meal was great, didn't need a doggy bag, because I left the plate clean. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. Anytime I visit Philly, I will make it my mission to eat at Warmdaddy's.

Good Food!

By Posttime |

Our first time visit to this "Soul Food" restaurant did not leave us disappointed. The staff were very friendly, and our waitress "Tauri" I think was her name, was amazing, and the food served was very good. I would definitely return and recommend this place to others. My recommendation would be to absolutely make reservations, and make them for an early seating, small place and fills up fast.

Great Brunch! Great Live Jazz

By Carla J |

From omelettes to order, tender brisket, cheesy mac and cheese, and seasoned greens, just to name a few of my favorites, to live jazz as you dine, the experience is memorable. The brunch menu is sure to please the pallet. The small, but quaint, restaurant has a friendly staff and outstanding performance by artists near and far.

Was suppose to be a thirty minute lunch

By SANDI T |

Was in the area with my daughter as we were trying to decide what we wanted to eat. It's difficult not really knowing the area, and parking is an issue especially with two vehicles. She mentioned going to Warmdaddy's. I'd heard of it, but had never been. There's a free parking garage behind it which was super convenient. We sat at bar type set up. Food came fast. Service was great. Atmosphere was great. My daughter and I caught up on 5 hours of conversation. We were not rushed at all. However we also were not at a regular table and don't know if that would have made a difference. By the time we left, we got to watch the live band perform three songs! Would go there again if I were in the area.

This is the HOTTEST place to eat in Philly

By Ivan B |

The BEST SOUL FOOD BAR NONE! This place will have you coming back for more. The corn bread is legendary, the entrees are excellent and it is clean. They have entertainment there too so check the website to see who will be there. They are mostly local so just be ready for hit or miss if you want to listen to the music otherwise just come for the food.

Celebrating a Girlfriend Birthday and Honoring a Girlfriend memory

By Charlene B |

This was not the first time eating at Warmdaddys. We had a group of 42 people. That night the group Rheel Men performed. They put on a great show! The food was excellent. You have to try the catfish and Best Cornbread intown. Although they owned another Soul food restaurant in the area...the food is much better here.

Good Music and food.

Valentines Day Experience

By Tasheia G |

The service here needs improvement. As we waited for our seats to be seated we had a seat by the bar and ordered drinks. When we were finally seated they asked if we could go back to the bar and pay for our drinks because they were unable to add the drinks in with our meal. Even though we were ordering drinks along with our meal (this was crazy to me). Finally we spoke with one of the waitress who stated that we could jus pay for the drinks when we were leaving. Once we paid for our meal we set at the bar for about 25 mins waiting to pay for the drinks we had when 1st arrived everyone kept telling us 1min, but remind you they made a big deal about use paying after they had already seated use. Also the sides that came with our food were cold and we received our cornbread after we already had our main dish for about 15mins. Food is great but service is terrible.

Not all that great

By RobertLevenson |

We were part of a party of seven going to Warmdaddy's....supposedly a very good soul food restaurant with great live jazz...to celebrate a friend's birthday. We pulled into the small parking lot which Warmdaddy's shares with other venues, which was full. After some delays,we wound up parking around the corner, under the I-95 highway.....not a good first impression !! We knew there was a $15 cover charge per person which had to paid in cash. However, the man accepting the cover charge money behind the dirty plexiglass window needs some serious training in interacting with patrons..he was curt, if not rude, in demanding the money, and also had significant difficulty in figuring out how much our party of seven had to pay.....not a good second impression !!! By this time I began thinking about seeking another restaurant, but others opted to stay, hoping things would improve. Our waitress was friendly and efficient, which was a positive The food was OK...nothing special. I ordered salmon with glazed sweet potatoes and garlic string beans;. others had spicy jambalaya, crab cakes, and steak..none of which was anything but just OK, if that. The crab cakes were less than OK...none of us could taste much crab in them. The blues band was good, another positive., but all in all not enough to salvage the evening. The dinner and cover charge wound up costing us over $375 ...definitely not worth it. We won't be going back anytime soon, that's for sure.

It Was Good. Not Great, But Good!

By Nene718 |

We went to Warmdaddy's on a Saturday night. So because they had live music that night, there was a $15 cover charge. The music was really good and I liked the food, even though some in my party didn't particularly care for the food. The only problem I had with the food, was the cornbread! They DIDNOT mix the batter enough! The pictures show it all! Overall, it was a nice evening with good music and nice atmosphere. But probably would not go back.

The food is homelike-comforting and the service was good. The enternment was fabulous- loved singer, Amazing Grace!

Could have been so much better

My Husband and I went to Warmdaddy’s at Penns Landing, Philadelphia last week. Parking was free, which was a perk! We were looking forward to seeing Michael Tozzi (Radio Personality) and the Band who was supposed to perform for the 5-7 PM Thursday Happy Hour. We were greeted at the door by the Manager and he mentioned that there was a food buffet set up, if we were interested. There were a couple tables and some patrons at the bar partaking in the Happy Hour. The buffet consisted of cooked/boiled chicken pieces, steamed cabbage and a tri-color rotini pasta. Unfortunately, the food did not look appetizing to us. The Bar Staff was friendly and attentive. The Bar did not carry Seagrams VO Whiskey, so we opted for Crown Royal. A little pricey in these tiny brandy snifter type glasses. House wine was just okay. After not seeing Michael Tozzi after an hour and a half and a couple of drinks later, we assumed he was a “no show” along with the Band and decided to leave. There was a Band that was setting up to play; however, they were to go on after 7 PM. When we were leaving, we mentioned to the Manager that we had come to see Michael Tozzi and the band and he said that the band had canceled, so I guess Michael Tozzi cancelled too. And who is Kevyn Johnson? Where was he and what does he do? Our trip to Warmdaddy’s was a bust. Do not think we will be back!

Love coming here!

I visited Warmdaddy's in April of 2013 and it was my second visit. I went on a Tuesday so there was no cover charge and it was first the house band (I think) and then open mic night. First, the food: I am vegetarian so I only had two options really, but that doesn't matter to me in the slightest because the vegetarian Cajun Mojo Pasta Perfection is AMAZING! It has so much flavor and is a huge portion... yum, I could eat it all day long! And the cornbread is delicious of course. You also get two sides with your entree... I seriously couldn't eat it all and that never happens! For sides I had the sweet potatoes and garlic green beans, both of which were tasty. And I thought the food (at least what I ordered, anyway) was very reasonably priced. The service: Great. We made reservations and they called to remind us / confirm. The hostess was very friendly as was our waitress. The music: Awesome! I really like the band that plays on Tuesdays and I was impressed with their open mic night. I feel like open mic nights can have the potential to go badly but they set it up nicely and I really enjoyed the performers. Overall I love this restaurant! I can't wait to go back again :)

Father's Day

I took my husband there for brunch. The food was delicious, but no entertainment to speak of. There was preset music playing the the back ground and a TV was on the stage showing some socker games. Besides the entertainment everything was pleasant.

What was supposed to be a highlight of my Philly trip turned out to be a disappointment

By NH31 |

I made a reservation for the Gospel Sunday brunch, which was advertised on their website to run from 11 am to 3 pm. Expecting a crowd, I made an 11 am reservation and took a cab from my 12th Street hotel. I planned to visit Warmdaddy's even before I booked my trip. It seemed like a good Philly time and a way to soak up some local flavor. I was nearly the only customer there. The place is in a strip mall, and could easily use a little more decorating. The wall color was nice, but the ceiling was an odd mixture of unfinished ceiling panels (which had "mold resistant" printed on them) and electric blue painted slats. I ordered brunch while the gospel band did their sound checks and got organized. My appetizer, chicken over a buttermilk biscuit, was pretty good. I ordered the breakfast platter as my entree, and it was really just so-so. I ate slowly, waiting for the band to begin. I assumed they would have started around 11 am, the start of the "Gospel Brunch". At 11:25, I asked the waitress when the band planned to start. She checked with someone and reported they would start at 11:30. My food was getting cold, so I ate the rest of what I wanted from the platter. At 11:50, the band finally went on. They were pretty good, and I'm sure eating while listening would have made my experience much better. I felt like I was stalling to keep the table, nibbling on a corn muffin, as I wanted to hear more. A bizarre moment was at the end of my meal, when I asked the waitress if she wouldn't mind calling me a cab. I was visiting for a long weekend and flew in, and the Philly Phlash didn't stop nearby. She stated she did not have her cell phone (?) to call for me, but that her manager might have one with him. Didn't the restaurant have a phone line? And was this really such an unusual request to a restaurant, especially one far from Center City Philadelphia? This was one of my top destinations while in Philly, and unfortunately I cannot recommend it to anyone traveling there. Very average and not worth a trip out of your way.

Horrible Service & Worst dining experience ever!!!!

By CynthiaPatterson |

I had such an awful dining experience at Warmdaddys. The service was horrible and the food wasn't better. For starters, (#1) we had a 4:30 reservation; our party of 10 all arrived by 4:10 and although out table was ready, the hostess had us wait at the bar until 4:30. (#2) Once we were finally seated and after 15 min of waiting on a waitress/waiter, I went to locate one'll its 5:15 now. (#3) It was kind of dark in the restaurant, so we ask the manager, or who we thought as the manger, if they could light the candles on the table; he states "we only light the candles during dinner, it's not dinner". But when a gentleman at our table state that the other candles are light within the restaurant, the "manager" says OK. By now everyone is frustrated and we should have left, but we drove 90 min to get there because of a "couple of good reviews" and we had such a big party, it would be hard to find a another restaurant. Note to self - listen to reviews!! (#4) everyone ordered their and not one meal was worth eating. Some people ordered the ribeye steak and it looks like. They had the steak on the grill too long; some people ordered chicken; some pieces were half cooked and the gravy on the potatoes looks like it was sitting under a heat lamp; the sweet potatoes look like they were straight out of a can. As if I didn't learn my lesson, I tried some dessert because you can go wrong with dessert, right? WRONG.. (#5) had to ask the waiter about dessert first because it was never offered, so I ordered the chocolate brownie sundae; sounds good right?? Well when it came, it looked like something I made in my easy bake oven when I was child; the brownie was dry and overlooked in a mini-frying pan, the chocolate syrup and ice cream made it worse.... I can keep going, but I will stop... HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Not once did the "real manager" or a manager for that matter come by our table.. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!

Beware!!!! Food Poisoning!!!!

Went here this past Saturday night to see a concert with my girlfriend...drove two hours from NJ. Got there 15 mins after our reservation to find out it had been given away. Waited about 30 mins at the bar area were we got some overpriced cocktails...got some Vodka drinks for $12 a piece(really more NYC prices then Philly). Ordered dinner, had the Cowboy Rib, which seemed ok, but also seemed like it had been reheated after sitting a while. About 10 mins after finishing my meal I found myself in the bathroom with a severe stomach ache...Probably visited the bathroom 5 times before the show was over. On the way home I was as green as a green bean and felt extremely nauseous, so much so that I had to have my girlfriend drive the rest of the way...Got home at 2am only to be awakened at 4am by violent vomiting. Was sick for three days afterwards...I was so sick I couldnt move on the Sunday afterwards only getting up every 30-45 mins to use the bathroom. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy!!!!!

Great entertainment ...

By twosweet4u2deny |

This is my second time going to warmdaddy's. I first visited warm daddy about a year ago and was not satisfied with the seating arrangements which I paid to see a show and they placed me by the bathrooms where you could not see the show. And I was suppose to be having dinner by the bathrooms, where people were going in and out all night long? Not a good choice! So a year later I decided to go back and although I was not seated at the bathrooms I still see they had the tables placed there seating people. The second time around I am still not impressed with how they do business! I arrived a little late for i was bringing friends from out of town to this location because i know they enjoy live music. I tried to put my reservation as close to their flight arrival and time to travel there as close as possible. Now i RSVP and confirmed my RSVP and still was chastised on being late when I arrived??? ( I'm thinking did I not confirm these reservations twice) But ok even though we were having dinner we still had to pay a cover charge. Some of my party ordered drinks and did not get the refill of drinks until 1 hr later. The place is tight for space and they try and fill every corner. If you are serving down home warming food then the personalities from the time you enter the restaurant needs to make you feel as warming! Again NOT impressed! Will not be returning here.

Overpriced, overrated

By colinhammond |

All I can say is, if I am buying a dinner, I won't pay a cover charge. I don't care who is on stage, it is the principal. I am going to drop over $100 on dinner and drinks, and now you want me to give you more money at the door...sorry, you lost my business. Have not stepped foot on that block since.

Very good. Good Variety. Good tastes

By Bigger32 |

Food was very good. There was quite a good selection and all that I tried were very good. There was a live 4 piece band there, and they were excellent. A very good experience. I would highly recommend.

Birthday ..sick for a week

By caz7709 |

Arrived at Venue before 7pm and was walking to the bar only to be informed they were going to be having Open Mic night and we needed to wait to come in due to "private event." I advised we had come to celebrate my husband's birthday only then did they allow us to enter and was told there would be a $20 charge pp. Most of the ppl sitting in the bar area were not there for the private event. We had appetizer sampler very good, my husband had shot of hennessey and I had the drink special (blue something). We requested a table and enjoyed - the band, rappers, singer while we were seated very entertaining. We had the cornbread which was the highlight, I could have just eaten that and been happy. My husband ordered the fried catfish, collard greens when he informed the waiter catfish salty he said it is made that way, I tasted it and after some resistance he agreed to remove it from the bill. I had no complaints with my food but for a week my husband had an upset stomach.

Never Again

By Valerie W |

I was referred to this place by a friend who lives in the Philadelphia area. I was in PA during a recent trip. I was told there's a live band and the food is really tasty. I was not told there is a $15 cover charge just to walk in the door and reservations are needed. Credit cards are not accepted for the cover charge. I don't carry cash frequently, so I had to run to a seedy pizza joint adjacent to Warmdaddy's for cash from the ATM. This was around 10p at night. When I returned back to Warmdaddys with cash for the cover charge I was told reservations are needed for a table, but that there's room at the bar. I paid the cover charge only to enter the establishment to realize not only was there no room at the bar, but it was quite crowded. I saw the food coming from the back being delivered to tables and I must say, the food did look good. I decided to leave due to there being no room at the bar and I was looking forward to sitting at a table and having a nice dinner after my flight to Philadelphia from Atlanta. In short, some may like the club-like, pay for entry type establishments, but I'm not one of those patron of favor of such. I didn't care for the area Warmdaddys was located in. It doesn't have parking (I had to park behind the establishment under a bridge and walk to reach the restaurant). I probably will not visit this restaurant, lounge again.

Not the friendliest service

By Karen T |

When my husband and myself came into establishment on a Tuesday eve we were told main seating area was booked and you can either sit at bar or table in corner near kitchen. The hostess never explained why we couldn't sit in main seating area. I would say the hostesses should be a bit more warm when guests enter their establishment . This is second strike with this restaurant within a few months. Gotta get better with customer service because food is good. Don't want to lose customers bc of service .

Great entertainment

By KAL |

The entertainment was much better than the food. The fried chicken was dry. The green beans and yam was cold. A crown and 7 up was ordered and I don't know what it was that was served. Had to return it twice. I must admit the pineapple upside down bread pudding was delicious!

Best buffet ever! Great Jazz band!

By gottaGetawayMaryland |

Excellent service. Best buffet ever! Wonderful jazz band and soloist. Variety of foods and all tasty. Cant wait to go back!

Good food, and live music

By jermlass |

Good location with free parking. The cover charge is alittle surprising and excessive considering all of their customers will be eating and drinking but the cover charge was forgettable once the food came, LOL. Definately go and enjoy the entertainment, food and drinks. you won't be disappointed.

Awful service, sorry excuse for "southern" cuisine

By Ashley C |

We had a reservation for 7:30 p.m. We arrived on time, but the restaurant didn't begin to clear tables for our party until we arrived. What is the point of having a reservation if the business treats you like a walk-in? Our group wasn't seated until nearly 7:50 p.m. The wait staff was unorganized. It took forever for food to arrive. The food was mediocre, at best. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are much better restaurants around Philly. They also have super loud music playing. Later in the evening, a live band played. The sound was way too loud. It gave me a headache. Just an awful experience.

What a night!

My husband and I went to Warmdaddy's for Valentine's Day. The food was delicious and the entertainment was fantastic!

Good music and delicious soul food!

By mizbailey |

My husband and I stopped by last Friday night, visiting from NY (empty nesters having a ball!). We arrived about 9 PM, the gentleman at the door asked if we had reservations, we did not. He asked if we minded waiting until 9:30 when the next reservations for the show opened up and if there were "no shows" we'd be seated. My husband asked me if I minded I did not so he paid the cover charge and we were admitted to the restaurant. It was a lively afterwork crowd, the moderate sized restaurant was packed as was the bar. An all black party on the rooftop admitted a lot of 20-30 something women, glad those days are over! , who passed by us following the rhythmic reggae beats upstairs that the DJ was offering. We chatted as we people watched and drooled over the delectable dishes the servers brought to the table. Before we knew it, our names were called and we were seated before the next musical set began at 10. We perused the menu, made up our minds and gave our orders to our waiter. We ordered the skillet cornbread which was a melt in your mouth buttercake. My husband ordered the fried chicken with black eyed peas and rice and collard greens. I had the bbq beef short ribs with collard greens and potato salad. I am extremely picky about southern potato salad, this was as good as homecoming Sunday at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Macon, NC of my childhood! I wanted to lick the plate clean! Yes, I said that. Then the singers came on backed by a full band. Rheel Menn, was a 5 men, 3 piece suit , Temptations style soul group who were fantastic. Their repetoire covered Motown to Al Green to Blurred Lines. But the highlight for me was their tribute to my favorite artist Prince, when they sang our wedding song "Adore"! The entire restaurant was signing right along. The next time we hit Philly we will definitely return to Warmdaddy's and bring our friends. We had a great time and had leftovers to enjoy the next day.

Sunday Brunch

Exciting atmosphere. Live music and a soulful buffet from omlets to collard greens. Be sure to make your reservations early because this place gets packed quickly. Try the watermelon long island drink. Tasty and very strong.

The WORSE

By NYCharlie |

I wish my cab fare was worth the wait and the horrendous service my group of seven received on 7/24/08 at 6:30pm. We had a 6: 30pm reservation and we arrived at 6:29 pm. Not only were they not prepared for the reservation (blaming us that we were late) the hostess with an attitude and dreads had us wait for 15 minutes. She then informed the waitress that we were a problem table. Well, you can only imagine her (Alexis) attitude. Not only did she aggressively throw the menu’s down, she increased the already escalated situation. NOW that’s CUSTOMER SERVICE for YA! To top it all off they would not identify who the manager of the establishment was or think of how this would affect future dealings. WAY TO GO! Here's to my never recommending this place to anyone. This is a great way to impress patrons that come from out of town (NY to be specific). A + for food & entertainment, F – for staff & service.

VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

By CORA G |

We went to dinner at 4:30 on a Saturday.I got the fried chicken which was very salty and greasy. The bill came with an 18%gratuity.I had to send back a strawberry daquiri which was super sweet. The place is way to small to have a nice dinner.I was VERY disappointed. The only good thing was that the waitress was friendly.I give it 2 out of 5 stars. I wont be going back.

Never again

By pinkgirl59 |

Sitting here now very upset! Made reservations they called and confirmed the reservations, but claim they didn't see them. They had us wait so they could find us seating. They sure took the cover charge in a hurry. This will be by last time here.

Great Time!!

By Observant2012 |

This is our first time going to Warmdaddy's and I must say we had an awesome time. At first I was second guessing due to the other reviews but we decided to go anyway and I am glad that we did. When I made reservation (required) there was a group by the name of Rheel Men (yes, that's how they spell it :)) that were going to sing so I thought that was great. There was a cover charge of $15 per person as well. I guess to support the singers. Ok, when we arrived, there was a older gentlemen behind a plexiglas window taking the money. Once we walked in the place, it was packed. Now I see why they required you to make reservations. The staff was very friendly and we was seated at a timely manner. It took awhile for the waitress to come over but we understood due to the crowd. When she arrive she apologized and went straight to doing her job. To sum it all up, the food was great, Rheel Men did an awesome performance and we will defineity be coming back there again.

News flash: Bands don't play for free

By Cully24 |

I'm saddened to read reviews on here where people are complaining about an entertainment fee. Warmdaddy's is one of the country's finest venues for blues, soul, jazz, and R&B. There are precious few of these establishments left. If you don't want to hear live music, don't go to a club that features it, especially a club that brings in the top acts in the field. These musicians don't work for free. Long live LIVE music!

Great dining

By Zunsyne |

Visited for their Sunday brunch. Love their made to order omelet. There's a wide variety of food and it's fresh, they replenish rather quickly and one does not have to wait. I live in Overbrook which is about a 25 minute drive, but worth it. Be sure to make reservations, I turned up not realizing reservations were required. We were a party of four. The hostess was kind enough to seat our party. Wait-staff was attentive. There was no issue with parking. Compared to their sister restaurant "Relish" I'll be visiting here more frequently. Seating is spacious and there's even an outdoor umbrella seating area.

Great entertainment

Went there to hear Grace Little.. Fabulous group very interactive show. Had dinner prior to the 10 pm show. Food (soul) was delicious and the service impressive .The servers very attentive. Management(Mike) top notch. Make sure every guest is happy.. A must do in Philly.

Disappointed This Time

By Cee_Wanderlust |

So I went to Warmdaddys for the first time last year in May. Food was good enough, but I especially liked the skillet mac and cheese and the cornbread. Went back on Tuesday expecting at least the same quality or better. Sadly, I was highly disappointed. The greens mixed with cabbage was watery, mushy, and flavorless. The yams were watery, the catfish was flavorless and didn’t seem like fresh fish. I’m thinking it was bagged. And the star of my first visit, the mac and cheese was dried out and flavorless! I will say the turkey wings were AMAZING! Another thing worth mentioning is the 18% gratuity was charged without our knowledge. There was only two of us and the bill was $65, so adding gratuity wasn’t standard. When I asked the server about this, she informed us that it’s automatically added on certain nights. After this experience with the food I probably won’t be back

Excellent Spot

I live in Atlanta Georgia. I went to Warm Daddy's for brunch this past MLK weekend with my family who were driving up from Washington D.C... This was the best brunch experience I have ever had! The music and the ambience were excellent. The food was unique and incredible. I loved the Banana Custard! The staff were very friendly. The band was very talented. Places like this remind me of why I love Philly so much. So much culture and so much class. Kudos to Warm Daddy's!!!!

A taste of 'Nawlins' up north!!

By Martin T |

Really good soul food, live jazz many nights. Intimate concerts or comedy shows on other nights. This was my fifth or sixth time going, but my first time writing a review. The place is small, but i'd rather describe it as 'intimate'. As soul food places go, I give them a A+. Ive had the catfish, the wings and the shrimp & grits. All very good. Always hot and fresh. Drinks could stand to be a little bigger, but hey, you can't have everything and they gotta make a buck too. I was there last night for the Comedy birthday bash and my wife and I and a couple of friends had a WONDERFUL time. We will be back for the Sunday Jazz brunch.

BEST. RESTAURANT IN PHILLY

By BLACKBUTTERFLYZ |

We went to Warmdaddy’s for my B-Day weekend.Warmdaddy’s is my favorite restaurant. I love the live entertainment while I’m dining. This particular event was a tribute to the Queen Of Soul. The vibe of the restaurant was high energy just about every patron that came had smiles on their faces the atmosphere was nice and slightly louder than usual there was a high expectation for the show. My dinner was the chicken and waffles with two sides collard greens and cheese grits. My man ordered the salmon with collards and yams we had a skillet of corn bread. My man thought that the salmon was a little too sweet I thought it was good.My sever Blakewas stayed on point with my needs. Best part showtime; Tanqueray Haywood performance was outstanding she was so engaging with her audience she made my night so special 💋.

Grace Little made it worth staying.

By louise71594 |

Since this restaurants move from its original location at front and market it has never been the same for me. My friend and her husband visited from Baltimore for her birthday and chose this place to see the amazing Grace Little. She is such a powerful performer and really entertained the crowd with her great vocals and energy. I'm not a big fan of this restaurants food but my friend enjoyed her braised turkey wings. When my husband and I arrived the greeting at the door was very unpleasant. It almost made me want to turn around and take our time and money elsewhere. I knew the place was busy but the customer service was lacking. The only thing they were interested in was that cover charge. No hello or nice greeting at all. We had reservations and still had to wait. If my husband had not asked about our table after waiting we would have continued to wait or just left. The dress code needs to change here as well. Some people looked like they just rolled out of bed and came to eat. We are not too picky but I think the new restaurant South on broad street got us spoiled. That place is top notch especially in food and customer service. Our food here did arrive promptly and for the most part it was okay. Grace Little made our night enjoyable. I will return to see her again in the future but otherwise we have no desire to return for anything else anytime soon. The customer service just left a bad taste in our mouth.

Billips Family 2017

By Calondra B.♥️ |

I took G Garvin's advice, Roadtrip, and when I went to Philly I stopped by WarmDaddys to have the turkey "wangs" and bread pudding. It was a Friday night with dinner and live music. The cover charge was $15 per person-- Point Blank Band was good not worth $45. A warm soul restaurant with a hip vibe located in a shopping strip mall next to a movie theater. Parking was located across the street under a freeway. Seems like parking for several businesses and we definitely walked fast to our car. Seating was intimate with booths and tables. I could have removed several tables for more space. Restaurant was filled; staff was very courteous; with da BEST HONEY CORNBREAD in a cast iron skillet instead of rolls. All of my family enjoyed their entrees. My only complaint was the bread pudding. It had good flavor but it looked nothing like the pic from Roadtrip which was the original draw to Warmdaddys. It was a great night out with the family. Will definitely visit again.

Average Soul Food

By Felicia B |

My husband and I had a date night at Warmdaddy's and while the food was good, it wasn't anything to write home about. We went on a Friday night and waiting about 20 minutes to be seated, which wasn't too bad. We sat on the upstairs deck which we didn't mind because it happened to be unseasonably warm the night we went. Anyway, our server was such a cheery and bubbly young girl who was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food, while good, was very underwhelming. Not to mention the fact that this "soul food" restaurant doesn't serve Mac&Cheese... who does that? LOL Considering there are other "soul food" options in Philly that actually live up to that title, I don't think I'll be back to Warmdaddy's anytime soon.

Happy Hour!!!

Visited multiple times during happy hour. Never disappointed! All apps half off. All apps are DELICIOUS. Lol. Thinking of visiting this week. Its a must to try them out...Even been there for Della painting event, "Paint Out Loud"

It used to be a great place...

By Steinruck |

Warmdaddy's used to be located in the heart of Olde City, a happening part of Philadelphia, loaded with great restaurants and night clubs. About 3 years ago, their management decided to move... to be situated between 2 upcoming casinos that have still yet to be built on Columbus (Delaware Ave. for locals) Blvd. I've gone to the new location twice in the last 3 years and was not impressed either time. At 7pm on a Saturday, the hostess told us that we would have a 45-minute wait. I went up and asked her if she had anything available yet at 7:44pm and she said (with an attitude) "Has it been 45 minutes?" As for the move itself, I have never seen a worse business decision. They were closed for about a year getting ready for the new location. Warmdaddy's should have just stayed closed, rather than reopen in its current state. At least my memories would not have been tarnished.

Just ok

By Lifes'Good M |

I I went to be with friends and family which made it the best part, the food was just so-so my friend and I arrived about 15 minutes after our party did and they were being served Bellini's and if you know what a bellini is it is served with the maraschino cherries in in the bottom of your glass. well first of all I need to say that I never tasted any alcohol just straight orange juice we were not given champagne glasses we were given a little I don't know what kind of glasses they were but we were never given any cherries to put in our Bellini. the omelet station was was really good so was the waffles however everything else on the table was just I don't know just so-so. so the grits were okay I didn't touch any of the lunch food because everything was fried there was nothing there to actually cater to anyone who didn't eat fried food oh yeah, if all you just eat is salad? They made it seem like nobody eats pork I like pork bacon honestly there is only turkey products not all black people eat turkey products , I wish they would have had a fish option that didn't require you to deep fry it and not all black people eat Whiting I personally like salmon and rice Warmdaddy's is getting old they need to beef up their menu some it's just not all that good the company that I had was better the music was so so the singer not so good but the band was pretty good. So in a nutshell after we spent a total of $41 per person there were 6 of us seriously $41 per person for breakfast and the band and I honestly thought automatic gratuity on parties of 6 or more was banned in the state of PA. now I understand that people of the African descent are not the best in tipping I am black and I work in this food service industry so I understand but if all you want is 18% that's fine with me I'll keep my 2%. Easy the plate in the bottom picture that is all I ate for $41

Enjoyable Meal and Atmosphere

By Nate M |

Ate at restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Plenty of free parking available. The restaurant has live entertainment on the weekends so one has to decide which seating they want, 7:30 or 9:30 pm. The soul / southern cuisine is delicious and not over priced. Customer service is excellent. We plan to return in August for my wife's birthday.

Good Food

By G.D. Red Morgan |

This is my second time visiting this location. The first I had to pay an entry fee due to the live band. We had an option this time which I appreciated. We opted for the patio deck. Was a great atmosphere and the food just tasted better (maybe because I wasn't forced to pay that live band fee. Lol) this time. I had the special for the evening and my friend had the gumbo. Both were huge portions and well worth it. I would definitely suggest this restaurant.

CONTEXT: This was a first date and my 1st time at this restaurant. I was in Philly for business and to see an old school mate. We arrived about 7 pm and it was a good thing for my date to have made reservations, as it was getting full. My date asked for a table closer to the stage and Wow! He got points for selecting the venue and for that. It reminded me of how a noisy speak-easy might have been back in the 20's. They should consider a nostalgia costume party as a fun event to promote. OVERALL ATMOSPHERE:The dining room did have a warm pinkish w/black trim with a cozy vibe to it but the flooring needed an upgrade. You will sit pretty close to others that you may not have come with, but this is what made the night for me. We met 2 really nice couples in the tables adjacent to us. It made the night special. FOOD: The waitress was knowledgeable on the type of wines they had. The prices for a bottle of red Cabernet Sauvignon was $32, which I thought was ok. We ordered the "New Orleans Shrimp & Cheddar Grits ($10.99) and they were really good. However, the Firecracker shrimp were not very hot, spicy maybe. We had the catfish platters for $16.99 and to me the entire meal did not cost a ridiculous sum. Tip liberally, as this increases your chances to get even better service. THE SHOW: There is a $15 cover charge (per person) when you walk in. This exchange reminded me of when we use to go skating, you had to pay at the door before you could go in - no free spectating. The band was from Florida, and please forgive me if I do not remember their names. But, they were awesome! Love them, took video that I wish I could load here for you to see. They played an array of Chaka Khan, Kindred, Aretha, etc. just a mixture of really great music. OVERALL: Wonderful date, engaging neighboring-table conversation, pretty good food and the music was fabulous! Yes, we may be back for Valentines ~ yeah, that's another story.

Just okay food. Entertainment was really good.

First time after always wanting to visit this place. Great atmosphere as the band UGO who were playing were phenomenal, made you just want to get up and dance. The food on the other hand was just okay. I expected much better. My drink the Georgia peach tasted like they forgot to add the alcohol. All in all we had a good time. Glad I got to experience the place.

Not worth the money...

By Tasha27 |

My friends and I went during a houseband competion held there on Nov.15, 2007. The service was horrible!!! We made reservations for 8 and had to sit on patio chairs. Yes, hard cast iron patio chairs. When we told the owner about the issue we had with sitting on patio furniture INSIDE he said we could leave because he had other people who would sit in the chairs. I will NEVER patronize this resturant or anything else that deals with the Bynum brothers!!! RUDE and LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Go for the atmosphere!

By SDrogo |

We stopped at Warmdaddy's on a Thursday night for dinner. We should have made reservations for the place was packed. One band had finished a set and another was just getting set up. This is obviously the place where locals go to listen to live jazz and have good soul food. The serve was slow but cheerful, the waitress was obviously overworked. The food was great-- the cornbread was excellent, as was all of our meals. We had a table near the painter in the back of the room-- it was fascinating watching him work. If you want to experience a bit of authentic Philly-- food, music, and people-- this is the place!

Moms birthday bust

By Denine D |

My mother always wanted to visit this place due to all the hype over the radio. While I must say the band was excellent the service and food was not. It took forever to get cold bland food and then another hour almost to even pay the bill long after the band had shut down. Only one waitress was working the entire floor a straight disaster. Save yourself some money if your interested and sit at the bar there is an 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more. The catfish and all the fixings was so not worth the wait, the cornbread was the only thing hot and tasted ok....I would never go back to eat

I like the variety of the buffet provided and you get to eat as much as you want. The artist are a plus

Love Warm Daddy’s!

By RockingLoud |

My wife and I head to Warm Daddy’s for date night a couple of times a year and we are never let down! The classic, authentic soul food is plentiful and cooked to perfection. On our most recent visit, we sampled and shared multiple dishes, including the shrimp and grits (fantastic!), turkey wings (my wife loved them), excellent corn chowder, mac and cheese and of course the amazing corn bread! We had a lot of leftovers to bring home! The drink specials are well made, and of course then there is the music! The night we went was a tribute night to divas of the 90s, and the music was as great and soulful as the food, the norm for Warm Daddy’s! We are always happy to go back!

Best entertainment

By Angela L |

Went to warmdaddys for valentines day weekend in 2013. I have to say it was the best experience. The performer was amazing grace and glb. They put on a show, the passion for the singing was great. The food was great, very satisfying and full filing. The drinks are great. And the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Only recommendation I have is Make A Reservation !! Place gets packed and its well worth the show and money.

THIS WAS INDEED MISSISSIPPI STYLE SOUL FOOD!

By Ndukanachi |

OK. So we were looking for a good soul food restaurant while in Philadelphia for the Cowboys vs. Eagles game. We were warned not to go to Miss. Tootsie's, but instead to try out Warmdaddy's. This place exceeded my expectations. The clean cozy jazzy atmosphere and the soul food were excellent. I had chicken, greens, cornbread, and yams. The food tasted like my grandmother's. I've eaten at Sweetie Pie's and Miss Tootsie's and I can honestly tell you, this is the best thing going! Furthermore, I grew up in Mississippi making cornbread, biscuits, salmon croquettes, etc....from scratch. The chef's at Warmdaddy's have got me beat hands down! Dr. Dzoole

WE LOVED EVERY SECOND!

By Kishauna D |

Warmdaddys was AMAZING! The food was SO delicious, and Tanqueray Hayward + Band absolutely killed it with their performance! The Skillet mac n cheese and fried chicken were to die for. Can’t wait to go back!

Good food accompanied by great music and singing

By GerryBaron06 |

We celebrated my wife's birthday by taking her to Warmdaddy's. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was crowded but not to capacity. Once seated, we noticed that the tables are close to each other. It's not a place to go if you want a private conversation. The food was good: - Fried Chicken - Chicken & Waffles - Shrimp Macaroni & Cheese The adults had a Carolina Rum Punch and a Watermelon Long Island Martini. The drinks were good. That evening there was a band playing jazz music and a singer. She was fabulous. A return visit is likely to occur!

Food and music right off of the highway

By Shawn D |

I was referred to this restaurant and I was glad I went. I ate here on a Sunday. From 10-3 pm. There is a brunch buffet which included, fried chicken, mac n cheese, grits, collard greens, fish, made to order omelets, French toast, potatoes, and more. During this time frame live music is being played and the day I was there a female soloist. The food was enjoyable and it is very busy. The price is close to $30 per person. There is a bar and Tvs on the wall. Reservations are best. There are a few tables to eat outside. The movie theater is immediately next door.

They are phenomenal

By ninjadoc47 |

I cannot begin to exude the virtues of this awesome venue of food, fun and live music. We mad eour reservations and though late they still got us in and put us near the front to see the band. the BB Blues cocktail was a great refresher afte ra long drive , so good my wife ordered one after her drink was done. the braised beef shortrib was phenomenal, Texas better look out, Philly can do mor ethan just cheesesteak. the band was so good and entertaining I purchased a cd. Leon Kennedy and troupe should be given a deal , he channeled his influences of a little smoothness of miles, the abstact of thelonious, with tinge of modern cool of the marslis brothers., and he is on 25. the server , ciara, was great, engaging and informative, keep her . Overall warmdaddy's has my patronage for good, keep it up.

Father Day Shenanigans

By ricndon |

I recently visited Warm Daddy’s with family to celebrate Father’s Day with my siblings and Dad. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t so great due to poor management, reservation and hospitality skills. When reservations were made, I was given inaccurate information about the time performances were due to begin. So, we actually arrived 3 hours earlier than the 1st scheduled performance began @ 7:30 pm which was the whole reason why we chose to attend this place. We were given the option to stay for the performance after dining but would still have to pay the $20 coverage at 6:30 pm. I guess the lack of knowledge of the hostess, about how to make a reservation for a party who wants to both dine and enjoy the performance was our fault??? Manager—PROPERLY TRAIN YOUR STAFF before your let them answer the phone!!! After this initial state of confusion nothing but chaos and unprofessionalism was sure to follow. In addition, let’s just say the offers of accommodation for the confusion were laughable. Instead of the Manager taking the time to personally address the issue, she kept sending different staff members to our table while she devoted her time sitting at the window collecting more cover charges for a show that wasn’t due to start for an hour later. If it hadn’t been for the sake of celebrating my Dad who is very musically inclined we would have left. However, the experience with the house staff had nothing to do with the performance of Amazing Grace and the Band. They killed it but it is a very poor business ethic practice to allow great performers to try to command the room of your guest after your house staff has sucked!!! It is unfair to them for all of their hard work put forth to entertain your guest and definitely unfair to the consumer.

Definitely Soul Food Here.

Good entertainment. Food and service down

By Bo D |

My friend recommended WarmDaddy's after multiple attempts to contact Ortliebs Jazz Club for few weeks. Ortliebs never answered the phone. I made reservations for dinner several weeks in advance. Upon arrival 10 minutes early, We immediately paid $20.00 each cover charge. We were told to be seated on the uncomfortable bar stools outside the main restaurant seating area. I notice many others behind us were seated at their tables while waiting for over 30 minutes. When we were finally seated, we waiting another 30 minutes for our orders to be taken. Then another 20-30 minutes for the food and beverage to be served. This is a soul food eatery. The food is nothing to go back running for. It's very loud to communicate with the server and to have a conversation with anyone. C+ goes for entertainment. I enjoy the entertainment the most. The spotlight shinning in my eyes at the tables was a bad thing. During the show, the spotlight is slightly dimmed. Our server tried her best. It was too much going on. It was crowded, very loud and appeared the servers were overworked. I will look into other Jazz Clubs in Philadelphia or Manhattan.

Nice atmosphere needs service to match...

My husband and I were in Philly for 1 day and our concierge from the hotel called to get us seating on a June 17. The lady who took the call advised that the downstairs was full but if we left right away she could guarantee us a table on the roof as we were less than 10 min away via taxi. She took our name and everything. Of course we got there and were told that they were no longer seating on the roof or anywhere else. After explaining what we had been told a man (I'm assuming the owner or mngr) who was taking money for the live show advised them to let us up. When we got upstairs we had to sit at uncovered tables which was fine...but no one offered us drinks or anything. Finally the host moved us to a table and after more waiting a friendly waitress took our orders. I ordered chicken and waffles with greens and MAC and cheese. Everything was delicious except for the waffle....it was so hard I didn't take one bite. The waitress asked if I was going to eat it but when I said no she didn't ask if it was okay or anything. My husband had blackened catfish and his only complaint was that they didn't bring him the right sides but he enjoyed what they brought anyway... The cornbread was SO delicious I would definitely go back just for that. Also the area downstairs seemed nice and the band was performing as we were leaving and they sounded great!

Nice Soul Food /Amazing Jazz

If you’re looking for live jazz and good eats I definitely recommend this place. The drinks were pretty weak, but overall good vibes.

Thanks for a good time.

Came in from NY for Dinner and a show. The service was excellent and accommodating. The restaurant is located in a good area around a movie house and street vendors. Inside, outside and Balcony sitting. The entertainment was excellent and the food was prepared with love and tradition. We had a Blast and will return. If you know wine don't order it there.

Sunday Brunch is best bet.

By drob1121 |

Finally made it to Warm Daddy's. I know many people who have given me mixed reviews that included some good, some bad. I decided to try the Sunday Brunch because I felt that would be the best representation of what Warm Daddy's has to offer food wise. My wife and I had 11:30 reservations and after realizing that cars cannot park in the shopping center, we found a good spot a 1/2 a block around the corner. We were greeted by a pleasant lady at the front who sat us at our reserved table instantly. The Jazz Band had just started and they were pleasantly good. We did have to ask the waitress to repeat herself because it was hard to hear her over the live band, but that didn't bother us as much as some of the reviewers because that should be expected. The reason we decided to do Sunday Brunch is because this gives you the chance to taste the restaurants full menu. A few of my friends have came during regular hours and have been hit with a $20 entry if there happened to be a popular performer on top of having to pay for your food and drinks. Those same friends have also experienced certain items that they have ordered that was not so good, so the buffet gives you the chance to sample everything and decide whats good if you ever decide to go during the peak time. The omelet and pancake station was great. I also enjoyed the salmon, jerk chicken, crab salad, yams, grits, and a few other standouts. They didn't serve mac and cheese this Sunday and the collard greens were kind of bland as well as the fried chicken. The ice teas and specialty drinks they offer are very delicious. The desserts were not so great, but by that time I was stuffed anyway. The atmosphere was great, the staff was nice and the band was excellent. Would certainly be returning for Sunday Brunch and if I do happen to go for a regular dinner, I know what I enjoy there already to place a satisfying order.

Great food--Great music!!!

By jonahNJ |

I have enjoyed the "Warmdaddy's experience" over the years going back to the old Front Street location. My wife and I decided to have a Saturday night dinner and enjoy the music of the Urban Guerilla Orchestra. As always, we have a great evening at Warmdaddy's. I was able to make reservations online. The location is easy to find and ample free parking is available across the street from the complex where the restaurant is located; the parking is safe, well lit and a short 2-3 minute walk to Warmdaddy's. Dinner after 6:00pm requires an entertainment fee/cover charge to see the show. The fee is paid upon entering the restaurant. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were seated quickly and the service was outstanding. We shared a delicious farmer's salad which was a garden salad with a buttermilk ranch dressing. This was accompanied by the amazing, legendary hot skillet cornbread. This cornbread has its well earned reputation because it is so fresh, hot and full of flavor. For my entree, I had the catfish with smoked turkey collard greens and garlic green beans. The portion size and prices were reasonable for a Philadelphia restaurant. The Urban Guerilla Orchestra were excellent and well worth the $20 per person entertainment fee. The perform cover versions of classic and current soul and R & B hits. Everything from Chaka Khan to Bruno Mars were performed flawlessly by outstanding singers and musicians. All in all, my wife and I had a great evening at Warmdaddy's and look forward to returning soon.

Great Food

Went to Warmdaddy's for dinner with my sorority sister. The food is yummy. Blackened Tilapia with shrimp, mash potatoes, and black eye peas with rice. The skillet cornbread is to die for!!! OMG!! Very good!!! All the food looked good that was being served. They have live entertainment. Great choice.

Great music and food

Great buffet. All the food was seasoned well and delicious. I loved the band that was playing live music. This is a must spot each time I come to Philly

Service Needs Improvement

By PhillyShaney |

Let's start by saying, I do appreciate since the move from Front St-I am happy because parking is better, but that's about all. It's amazing that this place is still in business because the food is average and the service is consistently poor. It may be in part because it is one of the few place that showcase live music of African-American artists. I have been here many times, usually at the urging of others, and each time I am hopeful it will be a better experience, but sadly it ends up being more disappointing than the last visit. This establishment has been in business for many years and I suspect they will continue to stay in business, I just hope that they commit to improving the customer service, it would greatly enhance the experience of the diner.

Dont ask for Mustard!

By Traveler2023 |

The recent visit to Warm Daddys was pleasant. I was with a Sorority Group. The waitress was nice. Well. I order a veggie burger and asked for mustard. OMG!..The waitress brought back 3. I said 3 Mustard packets... like the ones you get at McDonald's The whole group was in total AWE!. Unbelievable. I took a picture ... Well you know where the picture is now.. that popular place to warn my other colleagues. This is a upscale Jazz restaurant. ..they have popular Jazz artists to perform at any given time. and a cover charge to see the artisit. Yes you pay a cover charge and pay for your food!.this is not a fast food chain. ..the average meal is $15.00 -up. I looked around at other tables.. I did not see a mustard container/jar anywhere. MAYBE this IS their pratice..UMMM.. Still can't believe a restaurnat like this serves mustards packets...

Cover charge to eat? Really?!?

By Kareem |

I went to Warmdaddy's this past Saturday to celebrate my frat brother's birthday. If you've never been to Warmdaddy's, it's located right next to the movie theatre on Columbus Blvd. Parking is not bad, but I'm not a huge fan of it because the parking area seems very sketchy. As we walked in to the restaurant, we were greeted at the door with a demand for $15 entrance fee per person. I told the guy at the window we were here for a party. He told me it's a $15 "entertainment fee" for the band. I was annoyed and was on my way out the door, but then I spotted my frat brother and his girlfriend. The dinner was a surprise so I reluctantly gave up the $30 for my wife and I. Once inside, the entertainment was good and the food was even better. We ordered the Firecracker Shrimp as an appetizer. The shrimp was very crispy and the Cajun sauce was very good. For my entrée, I ordered the BBQ Salmon with a side of mashed potatoes and candied yams. My wife ordered the turkey wings with a side of collard greens and red beans and rice. We both enjoyed our meal as well as the complimentary cornbread. If it were not for the entertainment fee, I would probably give 4-5 stars because the food was so good. Charging people for something the restaurant should pay for in my opinion is egregious. Just a word of advice; if you're thinking about going to Warmdaddy's for a pleasant dining experience, call ahead and check if there is entertainment. Once that has been determined, find out what they are charging.

50th Birthday Celebration

By TheAdventures |

This was my first time going to Warmdaddy’s although I had known about this place for awhile. So when it came time to plan my hubby’s 50th with friends and family, I thought this would be a great venue. The planning with the coordinator/contracts person was ok. I found that I had to reach out quite a bit as opposed to the other way around. However, it all came together very nicely. They allow you to decorate your tables, with some exceptions. The pre-selected food menus to choose from were great as well as the drink packages. The costs were pretty much as expected and reasonable for 18 people. There is the entertainment charge for the live band which is a separate cost. And although the coordinator/contracts person wasn’t very personable in person, the contract was ok and she was a pleasure over the phone. The food was really, really good. My pre-selected menu of choice included an appetizer/starter of Cajun Catfish Fingers, Gumbo Ya Ya, or Country Caesar Salad (although it appears that we ended up with Garden salad instead as our salads didn’t have the homemade cornbread crouton that I had heard so much about). Our main dish choices were Southern Fried Chicken, Bar-B-Q Atlantic Salmon, or Braised Beef Short Rib with mashed potatoes and Smoked Turkey Collard Greens + Cabbage. The dessert of choice was the Caramelized Pineapple Bread Pudding (absolutely sinful 😊). We all really enjoyed the meal so much so that we had attendees order extra dishes from the regular menu to take home. The live band was enjoyable. We all got to groove to some of that good, soulful music. Not the music from today, but the music that has stood the test of time and generations. All in all, it was a great and most memorable celebration and I’m sure hubby and I will return. Note: Warmdaddy’s could use some updated table and chairs, however. The tables are showing quite a bit of wear and some are uneven. If I didn’t decorate the table tops, it would have been really dull and a little unsightly. I know they are bringing in the “dough” so spend a little and update the decor.

Had a wonderful time 2/21/2014

By Karen M |

I treated my boyfriend to brunch and good music for his birthday. We both enjoyed our time at Warmdaddy's. The staff was nice and professional. The food was "ok" to me but my boyfriend loved it. The band was great. I was cold sitting in front of the window/door. I think that kept my food from staying warm. I was happy that I didn't have to pay a cover charge (not to say the band wasn't worth it). The bill was reasonable so that I give the waitress a nice tip. I will go back.

Nice place to end your day

By Shebad23 |

Warmdaddy’s was a place recommend by a co-worker of mines while on business in Philadelphia. I forgot my shoes to change into once I got their due to the rain that started un-expectantly but when we arrived they did let me in with sneakers on. I had the fried chicken dinner and it was good! The potato salad was ok but the green beans were good. My co-worker had the catfish and she said it was ok and that her Collard greens tasted like can greens lol. The band was Mosaic Flow and they were really good! I would visit again!!! Oh the liquor is watered down (and I requested Absolut) so order beer!! I would have given four stars if it wasn’t for the watering down of drinks.

Lunch Date

By IsmeryS |

The food was bomb and the plates are very large. This restaurant is right next to the movie theater which is cool. Our server was attentive and very nice. This is a great place to go as a group since the portions are large. I believe they also have live music options which is great.

Excellent Food and Show

By Alonzo B |

The soulful food at Warmdaddy's was full of flavor! I enjoyed everything I ate here and drank. The tropical Long Island is a must have from the bar. We had the appetizer sampler, the wings and the jerk chicken eggrolls were stellar standouts! For dinner, my friend and I both had the blackened tilapia with shrimp etoufee. The flavor was great, being from New Orleans, I would have loved to have had a little rice with this dish. I will definitely be back!!!

Nice Suprize

By Patricia J |

we just decided to stop in and try Warmdaddy's on a whim. When we went inside the bar area was packed but almost all of the tables were empty. There were people in front of us who did not have reservations either and the woman told them sorry but we can't squeeze you in. She was very upset and said she heard goods things about the place but that was not going to be good and they left. I didnt think we had a chance but she said she would see what she could do and then gave us a table. They said we needed to be out by 7pm because the table was reserved which was not a problem since it was 5:50pm. As we sat there we watched them turning people away while there were 17 open tables. When we left there were still 15 tables not being used. It's not very good customer service to turn people away when these tables were not being occupied for some time. The food however was very good. We had the fried chicken, cheese grits and collards. It was probably some of the best fried chicken we ever had. I thought it was a little pricey, $17 or $18 for fried chicken.

Good food and good music

By Edward's Assessments |

Good soul-food and very good music. I have visited a couple of times and both times were pretty consistent. We all had a good time. I wouldn't suggest "very good", though.

Management rude and unpleasant

By flawlessf1984 |

Just got home from warm daddy's and i must say i was very disappointed with the food, service and even with management. my friend had called them weeks ago to make reservations for her bday for 7:00pm today...Every thing was fine until last Sunday when they called her and told he that she either needed to move the reservation to around 5pm or another day because they would have to charge us 20 dollars each for a comedy show they booked for 7pm....We arrived at 5:00pm, the waitress was amazing but the waiter was extremely slow and took forever to bring drinks, food etc. Then the manager came over to the birthday girl and pretty much told her he needed us to be done at 7 because they needed our tables and rushed us out. We could not even eat the birthday cake as they told us they would have to pack it up. If the tip was not included, they would not have gotten a dime from us....I will never ever go back to this establishment and won't recommend it to anyone i know Also my food was disgusting, i ordered Catfish and it tasted like they took the fish, put it in batter and fried it, it had no flavor or taste at all....Waste of money.

Reliable Consistent Quality

I have been there for brunch, jazz and for other occasions and this time I ordered via a delivery service and they were just as consistent with the quality and outstanding taste so now I have another medium to enjoy their outstanding food and service

Cajun food plus

By ESJT |

First visit and definitely not the last. Gumbo excellent, salads very big, very good, corn bread fitted the gumbo very well, as did, of all things, sides of garlic string beans and sweet potatoes. Then don't miss the sweet potato cheese cake, never had that before, but will have it again. There is a cover charge which kicks in about 7:30 or so, so eat early if jazz isn't your thing.

Sunday Brunch

By Alad222 |

It was a nice outing for a Sunday Brunch. I attended a birthday party. All you can eat with lunch and breakfast items. The entertainment was great. Check for 2 with 4 mimosa's, a glass of wine and tip was $90.00

Music down to my toes and into my center

the corn bread is the sweetest moistest and the music resonated. the time went by too quickly and I was reluctant to leave when the show was over. It was loud with beautiful music and not with talkers or drinkers. Music in the air!

For Jazz Lovers

By SharStar12 |

All Philadelphians have at least heard of this place. It is "thee" place to go if like me, you're still into jazz music. However, music of all sorts can be heard here. The plates are LARGE, the soul food is palatable, and they keep the music coming, night after night. The special events are the bomb! I've seen many of my favorite artists play here over the years. The vibe is intimate and the space is limited, so you may want to reserve a table. This is a great place for a date, as it is directly next to a movie theater. Or a nice spot to relax and have a meal with some friends. During warm weather, there is outdoor rooftop seating. Sometimes they even have more than one event happening simultaneously (one on the roof, another inside the building). Also, the location is across the street from the water, so you could take a stroll before or after eating if you come early enough.

OMG!!! One of my fav brunch spots!

By Terrance J |

If you like jazz and you like soul food then Sunday brunch here is to die for! On Sunday their buffet is not the biggest in town but it may be the best. There are a good variety of veggies and meats that are all well seasoned and delicious. If you like your foods bland then this is not the spot for you. There also is not a huge variety of dessert items but what they have is good. The atmosphere is as equally awesome as the food. You walk in and there is a rich vibe of good people... enjoying good food... and good live music.

Warmdaddy's Hot Damn!!

By BlakaGodBlizEny |

Listen this place!! Great! Loved it! Out of town for the wife's conference and you know how we NYers are about our food...we are foodies! So we hit up the iPhone search for soul food, always a bit apprehensive because the wife just doesn't eat any ole food. We walked to the place after a brief work out. Upon entry we notice a bit of a crowd and the hostess who was a little snippet told us that we could "either eat at the bar or wait because all tables have been reserved", so make reservations before going. We got very NYC and wiggled our way to a table, shh our secret. The waitress who was immediately better than the presentation of the place so far got right at us. She was pleasant, check...cute, check...and explained that the menu has very little if any pork, CHECK! We placed our order, minute or so later she brings out the complementary cornbread that taste like Heaven!! Wow so light and moist! The food came, my Crabcakes and macaroni and cheese...the wife, turkey wings and candied yams!! Delicious! Portions were a bit much for us, but for big eaters you'll love it. The yams were extra sweet so for those with sugar issues be careful. Halfway through the meal the house band came out and in perfect Philly sound played and sung some of our favorite songs!!! They were great, I suggest this spot for anyone looking for good food and a great experience.

Ooh my god ... the cornbread is amazing.

By Josh |

I am a little shocked to see some of the negative reviews, they seem valid, but I had a really nice experience here. We arrived on a whim but found they were booked solid for jazz brunch on Sunday. Understandable ... looked amazing though. Came back at 6 and got seating real quick for dinner. Food was good, the chicken and waffles were massive! Cocktails were super yummy and the staff was very pleasant to us, we had a very nice waiter. Overall we loved the place. The cornbread is to die for, ooh my god, it was amazing! We did get a performance by a band about half way through our dinner so maybe this is why we didnt run into the cover charge issue some seem to have had, but if we had to pay $15 just to get in we would have probably went elsewhere.

Warm atmosphere

I love this place!! The food is great &The entertainment was off the chain. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. there is convenient parking near the restaurant. I highly recommend Warmdaddy's.

Delicious Food & Great Entertainment!

By Miss_Tweeti |

Ive been to Warmdaddys about 10 times, always on a Friday or Saturday night so I could enjoy the live band while dining! I highly recommend making reservations since its not a big restaurant. The tables are very close together but its very cozy! The bands are always entertaining and the crowd usually joins in & sings along; So much fun! And I like that theres usually a mixed crowd with a variety of ethnicities and races. The soulfood is excellent, very flavorful. And the homemade cornbread is to die for!!!! Although the service is slow, its definitely worth the wait. I just have a drink & listen to the band and time goes by quickly!

Could be a chain!

I had asked a friend to take us to a local ribs place. She took us to Warmdaddy's! Wasn't what I was looking for. The service was great, the food was great, it was amateur night on stage and that was fun. SO why didn't I like it. The prices were right for that sort of place, higher then I like to pay $15 for fried chicken dinner, 20 for beef rib. Nothing wrong with that just again not what I was looking for. I guess if you have out of town guest and need to take them to a rib place this is it. But it isn't the real deal. It to me is the kind of place you expect to be connected to a hotel for all the business men to enjoy.

What happened to Warmdaddy's????

By Insider6755 |

What happened to this wonderful Philadelphia institution??? Last Saturday night we celebrated our daughter's birthday at Warmdaddys, a wonderful rhythm and blues club in Philadelphia. Let me correct myself, "what used to be a wonderful rhythm and blues club"!!! Warmdaddy's used to be located on Front Street in an old building, that when you walked in, you could almost hear the old greats as well as the new greats, the long wooden bar, and the intimacy of a small club with its low lighting, great service, wonderful soul food favorites, such as fried chicken, fried catfish, collard greens and some of the best mac and cheese you could ask for. So, why you ask am I asking what happened?? Well it would appear that Warmdaddy's moved out of their old haunts because of a rent dispute, sold out and moved out of Old City onto Columbus Blvd. into a much NEWER building next to a UA theatre, and instead of maintaining the blues atmosphere, the owners have turnt this Philadelphia institution into a Rhythm and Blues///Sports Club. WHY???? There are TV's all over the place and all are on Sports channels keeping to the scores, there is NO atmosphere to this NEW Warmdaddy's, the service is very bad, and everyone seated is cramped in like sardines. We were a party 6 with reservations, no problem there, but once we were seated, and the music started, Albert Cummings was performing, and he was about the only thing at Warmdaddy's worth going for. Our server finally came over to us, took our orders, i.e. food/drinks and when it started coming, I had ordered a glass of wine, which was so skunked I could not drink it, and the food orders were all wrong. One of our party, returned her meal to be corrected, and it never came back out. Drinks were never refreshed, or asked if we wanted them refreshed. Many of us asked for water, and it took forever to get WATER!! The food that was correct, was so greasy you couldn't eat it. Needless to say, we demanded to see a manager, who when we addressed the issue, was very apologetic, and told us the night was on him. We didn't go to get a "meal on the house", but to celebrate a birthday, listen to great blues, and to have some fun. The entire evening was a big bomb, and all of us were completely disgusted. We will not go back, and I would add that there are many other blues clubs in the Philadelphia area that would much better be the place(s) to go. PHILADELPHIA HAS ENOUGH SPORTS CLUBS, THEY DO NOT NEED ANOTHER ONE!!!!! Bring back the old Warmdaddy's and get back to your roots of great Rhythm and Blues, good food, great drinks, and the good customer service. Until you do, you have lost 6 customers, and perhaps even more. I no longer recommend Warmdaddy's!!!

soul food at its finest

Went to Warmdaddys for my bday weekend to see neo soul artist carol riddick perform, the performance was good the food was great! Although the drinks could stand to be a little stronger they were also good, My man and I had the Ny Strip Steak with crabmeat, Collard greens and new potatoes. Our appetizers were the catfish fingers. and my man ordered the daddy longlegs lemonade.Good Value. Loved the ambiance of the place very eclectic and neo soul like. Just what i expected from philly. I will definetley be back to visit Warmdaddys in the future!

Friday Happy Hour

By kbarryjonessr |

There are 4 different days for happy hour (Wednesday-Saturday) but I enjoy Friday the most bc of all the give aways from radio personality Patti Jackson and the hip adult crowd. To assure a seat try to arrive at the 5:00PM opening. Free buffet. Half off apps and great atmosphere. Free off street parking.

Nothing Special!

By Fountain4 |

We had heard such raving reviews about Warmdaddy's so we wanted to experience it for ourselves. Well in deed we did. We went to dinner on Sunday at 5pm and were seated immediately. The place was not crowded and yet it took a while to be served. I ordered the fried chicken, garlic green beans, and candied yams. The chicken was quite mediocre, the yams were super sweet, and the green beans just OK. My husband was sorely disappointed in the short ribs especially the portion size. The ambiance is lackluster at best. Not once during our meal did our server check to see if we needed anything. My husband was finally brought water along with the check, and it was poured right into the same glass his soda had been in. So overall I would say that our visit to Warmdaddy's was nothing special!

Birthday in Blizzard 2016

By Big_meno |

I made a reservation on line at open table.com. I heard about this place & figured it was right up my girlfriend ally. Food, drinks & live music? How could it not! The staff from jump was amazing. I called to let them know it was my girls birthday & I wanted the evening to be special for her. We originally had rsvp for 7pm on 1/22/16 (my boo bday) but because of the blizzard I had to reschedule until 9pm. The restaurant gave no problem! Blizzard & all we still ventured out to the restuarant. I must say she enjoyed herself! The staff was AMAZING! What I assumed would have been a packed night (I'm sure if no blizzard) turned out to be a intimate cozy night with us & another couple. We order drinks, which were done nicely (hook up for the birthday girl) & dinner. They made her feel so special. They even sang happy birthday personally to her. Unfortunately, our evening got cut short because the snow was coming down & the streets were getting messy. We needed to get back to the hotel. Hopefully the manager will invite us back to get the real experience! The birthday slice of red velvet cheesecake wasn't bad either! Other wise THANK YOU WARMDADDY... S & D

Good Blues Music, Soul Food & Atmosphere

By BoyertownMusik |

My wife & I recently went to "WarmDaddy's" to hear a fellow classmate who was playing with renowned bluesmen Joe "Louis" Walker. We decided to also have dinner there. We called the night before to make reservations but we where told that all the tables were already reserved for Saturday night. We were told that we could sit at the bar & have dinner if we wanted. Besides seats at the bar, there are also seats around a raise level above the tables w/ a counter. We decide on that. When we arrived, the receptionist asked if we had reservations? I said "No" that we were just going to sit at the bar. She said "Do you want a table"? Not only did we get a table, but right near the front toward the band! We both got the Southern Fried Chicken which was plentiful & delicious! My wife got yams as one of her sides and they were perfect. I got southern red rice as one of mine, but it was more like Mexican rice. When ordering dinner, each table comes with a skillet of warm corn bread! One of the best I've tasted! You could make a meal out of this alone! To sum it up...Service, Food, Music and Venue all excellent! Located just off Columbus Ave. by the Movie Theater.

To hear a band

By Charlene B |

We met a group of friends at Warmdaddy's to hear group call Point Blank. Music was good and the food was out of sight. Don't forget to get their famous corn bread. It is to died for. Waitress was alittle slow but once the food arrive...it was worth the wait. Drinks were okay and alittle pricey but its philly.

The Philadelphia Experience

By ChandraK |

I attended this restaurant on a Sunday for brunch and jazz. The selection of food on this buffet style brunch was overwhelmingly good. There were so many options to choose from: breakfast, lunch or dinner. The place is a little congested in the buffet area and the tables sit close but that shouldn't stop you from going. Now for the part I enjoyed the most. The live band Soul Collective was everything. That drummer is Prince reincarnated!! I will definitely return on my next visit to Philadephia.

Memorable!

By astrogirl57 |

A really cool place in Philadelphia. First of all, the staff was very courteous and upbeat. My party of 4 started with appetizers which arrived hot and pretty generous portions. We had catfish, collards, salmon, mac and cheese and green beans. No complaints. Drinks were fun and not watered down. Got a great table near the stage. Music was exceptional. I would go Warmdaddy's again.

Do not order the crab-cake sandwich for $12.99!!!! Not worth the money !!

By Crystande |

I ordered the crab cake sandwich for $12.99 and received not even an ounce of meat!! Where was the meat The bun was so big the meat was scanty and tried to hide the presentation with too any fries without the old bay. Shame on you!!! You are cheap!!! What a rip off !

Great live music, ok food

By Travelingyogi82 |

I enjoyed the band very much and would return for a nice night out to hear live music. They are known for their cornbread that comes to the table before the dinner. It was too sweet for my taste, but my date enjoyed it. The portions are big, so we shared the Mac and Cheese (wonderful), collards greens (liked not so much and I love collard greens), candied yams (yummy with just the right amount of sweetness) and braised turkey wings (really good except too much fat and they didn't serve the drumstick part which is the leanest part of the wing). We also shared the berry cobbler with ice cream which was a disappointment. The crust had more of a shortbread texture and tasted a little doughy with not a lot of flavor. I also had a Peach Martini. Too sweet. The coffee was barely warm. I gave it average because I did enjoy some things.

Warm Daddy's UMMMMMMMM GOOD!

By G W |

Unfortunately, I was really hungry so I didn't snap a picture. As we approached Warm Daddy's there was a man dressed in a suit and a woman collecting money at the window. I walked right pass. They stopped my friend requesting a cover charge. I intervened and told him we were not here for the show and we just wanted to "eat". He said well what time do you plan on leaving. I thought he was being obnoxious. I didn't like the fact that the restaurant was being ran like a club in retrospect that they have live jazz performances. I understand they have to keep the restaurant afloat this is what does but not everyone wants to see performances. They actually come to eat. The hostess were horrible and did not seem to be competent in what their jobs actually were. We sat and sat before we received menus. We asked for menus and that how we received them. Once we received the menus. We waited for approximately 10 minutes until a bartender came to take our orders. He was very polite and respectful. He accommodated our needs to perfection. The food came out in no time. The CORNBREAD was to die for. It was like no other. The food was in small portions but good. Unlike other soul food eateries WARM DADDYS is amazing. Their potato salad is to die for. The salmon wasn't quality but other then those minor mishaps I would dine here again! Warm Daddy's is definitely a MUST GO!

Great Food

By AfricanVenus |

I've been to Warm Daddy's several times, and I've never had the types of problems people are complaining of here. I went my first year of law school for an organizational chill event, my second year for the same group, and as an after-party spot for my 24th birthday. All those times, I liked the music, the grown and sexy atmosphere, and the service. I was in a large group the first 2 times, so maybe that made a difference. Whatever I ordered came out the way it should. I've sat on the balcony and I've been on the inside. I like the variety of music they have as well as the service. For my birthday, we didn't order much. My friends had drinks and I think we ordered a light dessert. I never had any issues with the wait staff. I had a reservation for my birthday, and they called to make sure we were still on our way, even though we were a little late. They asked where we would like to sit, even though we were late. There was no fuss. I like Warm Daddy's, and my friends were impressed by the establishment. I would return and would certainly encourage diners interested in Southern Comfort food to try it. The corn bread is reason enough! I've never had a full on meal there (mostly appetizers), but others I've been with who ordered something substantial loved it.

disappointing

By CaroleMermaid |

Truly disappointing. The food was average at best. Seriously could have had better mac & cheese from a blue box. Naked pasta with some oily melted cheese, bacon crumbles and bread crumbs. Chicken & waffles- good crispy waffle, cornmeal crusted chicken was good but not juicy. The best part was the syrup & sauce on the side. corn was not hot and plain not even butter. the night we were there they must have been understaffed. (2 large parties of 20+ea). Our server got around to bringing hot sauce & ketchup as the last bite went in, no water refills. Cool band, but that was the end of any conversation.
