Very fresh and tasty

By VegasLovr |

Went to dinner on a friday night. It was a relaxing oasis amid the crowds outside on citywalk. The food was very fresh. Loved the miso soup! They had an excellent house teriyaki sauce, probably the best I have ever tasted. Also loved the fact that they refilled my tea without me having to ask. All the sushi dishes were excellent. Price was ok too. Will definitely return.

Very good!

Citywalk seems to be lacking in good restaurant choices, so we have ended up at Wasabi and I'm glad we did. They provided us with great service and overall we had a great dining experience. The food is a little pricey for what you get but I would go back in a heart beat.

Great Sushi

The food was all very good, like most tourist restaurants, a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. Staff was very friendly. A very nice atmosphere. Would visit again

Best choice in the CityWalk

By vegaswithkids |

We had dinner here and were very impressed with the food, service, and ambiance of Wasabi. Because this is in the middle of Universal CityWalk, I was expecting mediocre food and service, as well as an unacceptable noise level. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the food is more expensive than I would pay outside of the park. Yes, parking is EXPENSIVE (but if you valet, validated parking is $7 for 2.5 hours) Yes, getting too and from the restaurant is a zoo. But if you are already in this part of town as we were, it was a very good choice for dinner. Service: Our party arrived at varying times because they were coming from the park. They were vary gracious with dealing with this. They kept our drinks full, which is very important to me. They also checked up on us enough that I felt valued but not enough that it was intrusive. Ambiance: Despite being attached to an amusement park, the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. The menu small but diverse for Japanese food. And the decor was very reminiscent of Japan without being kitschy or over the top. Food: We ordered: Tempura Udon - This is a large serving. The broth was the perfect flavor with well cooked noodles. The tempura serving was huge with shrimp, broccoli, sweet potato, and gobo. California roll upgrade - roll was refreshing and light, not too heavy with mayo in the crab. A full 8 piece roll. Garlic Ribeye - Perfectly cooked meat and a very nice portion size. A little heavier on the garlic than I would have liked but that is just me. Steamed veggies were a nice touch. Sashimi upgrade - 4 pieces of fish. Nice size portion on each. BBQ Beef Ribs - I don't know why I wasn't expecting kalbi, but I was happily surprised to see the kalbi arrive. The taste and chew were perfect. I think this was my favorite dish of the night. Again steamed veggies were a nice addition. Unagi donburi - huge portion of well prepared unagi. I wish they had sliced it though for ease of eating. But perfect flavoring, not too much sauce. Firecracker roll - I don't normally like fried rolls but this one was surprisingly not heavy feeling. Marilyn Mon Roll - I didn't try this as it was spicy and I'm a wuss but my kids loved it. Spider Roll - had another name on the menu but I can't spell it... Very well done. It is a futomaki so very large and difficult to pick up, but perfect mix of ingredients. Seaweed Salad - perfect size and flavors Sunomono Salad - a little more sour than I prefer but nice palate cleanser Miso Soup - perfect size and did not skimp on tofu and seaweed Mango Mochi - serving actually has two mochi smaller balls cut in half instead of one larger one. Served at a good temperature (not too cold to eat) If I'm at Universal Studios again, I will definitely eat here again.

Good price, good food and friendly service

By JobeeMom |

After spending a week's travel in California, our family was craving for Oriental food. We have never heard about this restaurant and just happened to pass by it while exploring Universal Citywalk. The restaurant looked appealing from the outside, and the menu price was reasonable, so we decided to give it a try. The servers were attentive and cheerful. The food tasted great and the portion was generous. Like most other Japanese restaurants, the combo dinners included salad, miso soup, entree and rice. My daughter ordered just a soup noodle (not the combo), but the server brought salad and miso soup for her as well, and offered to bring us additional salad, soup and rice if we needed more. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal, and one of our "cheaper" dinners during this trip.

Last minute decision

By latink |

Family had spent the morning at Universal Studios. Knew that we wanted more for our lunch outing than just "park food". So we ventured back to CityWalk. We looked at the menus for a few places and decided on Wasabi bc our son likes sushi. We were NOT disappointed. Son got the Hollywood roll. He didn't care for the onions on top but his father and I ate them!! Hubby ordered braised beef ribs. Very tender, a little fatty. But still pretty good. I had salmon teriyaki. Big portion for lunch but it fit the bill. Miso soup and salad. Round out the beginning of our meal. With white rice joining the main meal. We knew that CityWalk had better places to eat instead of inside the park. So glad we took the time to find this place! If we find ourselves back in LA we will eat here again!

Simply tasty!

By 20854Dave_K |

After a day at the park (Universal Studios), we were checking out CityWalk for a place to eat. It was quite chilly that night, and we were moving past Wasabi, when one of the employees offered up their menu for a glance. We're kind of glad that she did her job in drumming up business, because the atmosphere and food was much warmer and inviting on the inside of the restaurant (even though you could still eat outside, too, as they had warming devices a-glowin'). For sushi, we just had a small order of eel, and it seemed pretty fresh. All of our other dishes (ramen, udon, gyoza dumplings, edamame, short ribs) were tasty. The price is a little high, but we expected that at this locale (next door to the theme park). However, my salmon dish (limited edition?) provided two huge pieces of salmon, making it the best value at our table by far. All in all, a pleasant dinner to top off our visit to Universal Studios Hollywood.

Fishy sushi roll, otherwise fine

By Lisa P |

I've never actually smelled or tasted anything very fishy when eating sushi, I think that's the point, but at this place the roll I got reminded me of cat food. It was one of their more popular rolls, Spicy Hollywood. It has tuna, salmon, and other fishes in the sashimi mix. It looks amazing in the picture on the menu but it doesn't look like that when served. And it was very fishy, I did not eat it and lost my appetite completely. They took it off my bill which I thought was very nice. My kid had teriyaki chicken and took the leftovers back to the hotel. She finished it all later on, she really liked it. And I had a Cherry Bomb cocktail that was delicious!

Great sushi!

By Carol |

I must say, I had low expectations of any restaurant at City Walk, but this place was excellent! Rolls, tempura and udon all wonderful! Good for families - we had six in our party and we had plenty of room.

Not so great

By Penny J |

We went to this restaurant just for the Shabu Shabu, we ordered it and they told us something was wrong with the kitchen so they were not serving it. Very Disappointing, we should have left. My mom ordered the teriyaki combo beef and pork and it was very bland. The tempura was pretty good. The sushi rolls we had were ok, but not the best I have had.

Great location and food.

By Peggy L |

We enjoyed dinner here, our waiter was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. I was disappointed they did not offer Shabu Shabu during the summer months but my sister got the seaweed salad (not on menu) and it was pretty amazing! All the kids gobbled everything up! My only negative was the helping waitress who brought the salads just set them in front of the kids and I thought she was returning with more. Finally I realized she wasn't and we figured two of the kids weren't supposed to get salads but had already eaten them! I really wanted mine but it took forever to get another one...and they do not use the ginger type dressing I love at other similar places but I got over that. :-) It's in the heart of the Citiwalk.

Great Sushi and service..

By ronmiller0032 |

Love going to this place after a long day walking around Universal Studios. Cold Japanese beer, hot Saki and some Sushi make for a perfect unwinding before taking in the rest of the City Walk.

Great Service, Poor Food

By Michelle B |

After our family's Universal Studios adventure, we decided to hit the City Walk Wasabi was one of the restaurants that looked appealing. The staff were very friendly and provided quick, efficient service. Here's my detailed review on food. Miso Soup - this was the best of what we ordered. It had bountiful tofu and wakame & taste was perfect (not too salty). Green Tea - it was too watered down. It tasted like it's been used a handful of times prior then poured another hot water for us. Seared Salmon Salad - my husband thought it was okay, nothing spectacular but not too bad. Tonkatsu - oh dear, I don't know where to start on this one. The pork was really hard - I could barely cut it with a knife, let alone chew it. I don't know what kind of sauce they were trying to invent there but a good 'ol fashion Tonkatsu sauce would do the trick. The salad that came with it had sesame oil drizzled in it, not even a dash of salt. Good thing, there were a few pieces of green beans and broccoli that came with the Tonkatsu but $15 for a meat you could barely chew and few pieces of vegetables doesn't cut it for us. Overall, we wouldn't come back to this restaurant & wouldn't recommend it to our families or friends.

Fabulous japanese place

By BCWife |

If you want some seriously fabulous sushi while visiting Universal, go here!!!

Affordable and somewhat kid friendly

By Robin F |

We wanted a light meal after a long day diving and this fit the bill. Service was fine, food was very good and the price was affordable. Vegetable tempura was probably the best with our son liking the teriyaki chicken also.

Very good food for a tourist place

By Samson |

Most of the restaurants at CityWalk felt like the normal tourist traps so I tried this Japanese place. The food was quite good. A bit on the expensive side but probably average or low priced for CityWalk. The nabayaki udon was very good with lots of stuff in it. The spicy tuna rolls were very good. If I was staying there I'd eat there again. Staff was very nice.

A bit expensive but good food and good service

By Sharmilla M |

The prices of the dishes were a bit expensive, but i dont mind paying a bit more when the food and service are good. The food is good of taste and fresh. Service was good and helpfull with explaining the menu. At the end they suprised us with a complimentary sake for us to try.

Good sushi, great beer, mediocre service, semi-annoying atmosphere.

By Freebiegrabber |

I've been here twice so far, and unfortunately it's gotten worse over the years. Wear your earplugs on the way in, to avoid going deaf from the uber-annoying, 120dB, amplified corporate pop music from the CityWalk courtyard. Make sure to order the Echigo beer -- a smooth, premium Japanese import that's somewhat hard to find (unlike the Molson Canadian-brewed Asahi, Los Angeles Budweiser-brewed Kirin, or Canadian-brewed Sapporo). Also order the "T-Rex" cut sushi roll... good stuff! Beware, though... sometimes the sushi chefs get creative and add sauces to their rolls that aren't mentioned in the menu's description. This is normally not a problem, but for those of you on diets (or with food allergies), it can be a bad thing. On my most recent visit (on a Sunday afternoon), the waiter forgot to deliver a side of steamed rice and later sat a table full of fat tourists (complete with a stroller and screaming brat) right beside us. Sigh... thus is CityWalk.

Good service but good can take a long time

By worldwonder805 |

It was at the end of our visit to Universal Studio. All are hungry and a bit tired. We preferred to sit outside but they were short of hands and could only seat us inside. We had two tables by the front door which provided better ventilation. Service was very good. Food got to us at a reasonable time except the special Hollywood roll for my daughter. It took at least 30 min. The rest of us were all done … and her roll still did not show up. Besides the delayed roll - all other items were flavorful. So if you have time constraints - you may want to consider non shushi bar items or another place.

Decent sushi

By redevvl |

This is the only sushi place on the City Walk and the food is good considering it's in a theme park. Wait time's can be long, especially at peak hours and peak season because the park is bustling! Cool yourself off with some decent sushi, attentive and polite service and you won't be disappointed.

Very Disappointing Sushi

By Christy C |

I was excited to see a healthier dining option in the CityWalk area, and I am definitely a sushi lover, but this was not a meal I would want to repeat. The service was actually very good, but the quality of the fish was not so good. The albacore sashimi was practically chewy, not the melt-in-your-mouth consistency you would hope for. The TNT roll had a mushy version of spicy tuna on the inside, and was severely lacking in flavor. Honestly, I am surprised by the positive reviews based on the poor quality fish that I encountered.

Discriminate against Asians

By David V |

All i have to state is this place has white-washed Asian Management that does not care for us Asian paying customers... I spent a good deal today but yet the Asian management wanted be quiet...

Tasty food

By anahitarz9 |

It was our first time at Wasabi, and we liked it. Reasonable prices, tasty food, fast and friendly service. Warm, garlic edamame was a nice start, followed by Miso soup; baked mussels, in spice mayo sauce; dragon roll made with real crab (you have to ask for real crab, otherwise, it comes with imitation crab); rice bowl with steamed veggies and unagi.

Terrable

By Pavel1985 |

Sign says "The best sushi in LA", but it was worth sushi we ever tried. Portions very small. Ordered California and filadelfia rolls, didn't finish and got a bill with green tee inclluded, First time in my life I didn;t leave any tips, but service was good.

Awful service

By zuik3n . |

Went here to eat sushi, the food itself in my opinion was mediocre at best. Service was slow. We had a table of 6 we all ordered at the same time. My order of Umi and there Hollywood roll came out after everyone had finished eating. The restaurant was not very busy at the time. And I was mis informed on the price of the umi due to market price. That was corrected which was more then fine. But it felt like there was alot of issues between back of house and waiting staff.

convenient choice to avoid traffic towards downtown LA

By Guillermo M |

Since we were staying at the Universal City Hilton, it was easy for us to jump on the shuttle bus to City Walk and leave our car at the hotel ... hours of operation at UCW tend to be on the later edge of the day which provides more flexibility. We had a great meal, I recommend their sashimi selection which is really good.

Staff

By betty1957 |

The staff were very nice and could not do enough to help with there menu as we had not had Japanese food before the waitress we had was so nice a friendly the food was very tasty

Not a special sushi, but okay.

By TMJ-DK |

Location: universal citywalk. Price vs value: to Expensive Food quality: okay, but not special Staff/Service: Good I hoped, since it was located at universal citywalk the sushi was better. Medium sushi can i find everywhere.

Great delicious food and the service is excellent!

By WellDeservedVac... T |

Great delicious food and the service is excellent! A good pre-game spot or date spot as well! This is one of the original long last restaurants here at City Walk as many of the other ones keep changing out so you know its good!

The Sushi was Fresh

By MikeR2011 |

We wanted a quick lunch, and most of the places in City Walk are chain or fast food, The menu here was good, the food fresh, and the prices were really good.

Great Sushi

By srz4778 |

Awesome fresh sushi, with great staff and outdoor seating. This was one of my favorite meals while visiting the area. Price is camparable to most sushi restaurants.

Food ok, but service not good

By heather j |

Overall, the food was pretty good. Our sushi rolls were good (except one piece of my roll which had a weird dark spot so I wouldn’t eat it), but my son ordered a steak entree and the broccoli was cold and the beef was just ok. The service was lousy. The service was ridiculously slow — they never even came back to see if my husband wanted another beer or to refill our water glasses.

Great Japanese Cuisine near Unversal Studio

By John C |

Located at the citywalk at Universal Studio, wasabi service fresh sashimi and sushi, plus other Japanese Food to satisfy your palette. I specially enjoyed the wagyu steak, Hamachi and Hotate sashimi which was so fresh. Service was great. Although the setting is not that formal, but Japanese.Highly recommended.

Wait staff provided helpful suggestions

By k8tyCA |

Was visiting Universal Studios & Universal Citywalk & needed dinner before the show. Interesting sushi & sashimi menu. Seaweed salad was SO fresh. Microgreens sashimi was good, waiter asked how we liked it & we mentioned that it had cucumbers (that we cant eat). Waiter offered to give us a new order (we declined) & he made the chef left out the cucs pn the next part of our order! At the beginning of our meal he made suggestions regarding sake & rice beer (really? Never heard of it!). He was very personable & made excellent suggestions. The shrimp tempura at the table next to us looked really good. Will order that next time.

Sushi at CityWalk

By Piyush G |

Honestly I was little hesitant dining here as sushi at tourist places can be questionable BUT after dining my hesitations were non-existent. Terminator was good spicy roll. Good choices for sake so we went through 2 x 300ml bottles. They also have some sake available in 720ml size. Seaweed salad was refreshing. Sashimi combo with 3 variety was as expected - nothing special but no concerns. Staff was attentive. We sat on patio as it was nice weather. Live music on CityWalk at times made hard to carry conversations. If you are meeting someone and expecting conversation, I would recommend inside seating.

Pretty good

By Jomama_Fosho |

came here to try it out. food was delish - we ordered edemame with garlic and that was pretty good. Universal roll was amazing. We sat outside since it was pretty warm and it was nice to see people passing by. And to top it all, our server was pretty fast and friendly. Good food and good service deserves 5 stars. Note: If you are coming here just to eat, take note that valet parking is $7 for 2.5 hours, then $15 from 2.51-3.5 hours. After that, it is $40 so if you think you want to stroll longer than $3.5 hours, I suggest you park at the general parking for $25 - at least it's full day.

Lackluster experience

By Justin H |

The only thing memorable of the occasion was the Agedashi Tofu and the salad dressing. Otherwise, it was a lackluster experience. Overpriced for the food, but the server was polite. Sorry I can't say much better about it than that. It was a disappointing dinner.

Quick little lunch

By Scott J |

The family and I needed a quick bite after a morning at Universal studios. We had miso soup, salmon sashimi, Hollywood roll (excellent by the way) and a California roll. Food great, service was on point with refills and making sure we were content. Recommend for sure

Sushi lunch

By Hannah Le |

This place has lots of fish at the counter as you walk in and the menu is full of very nice combinations. Lots of spicy options too for the adventurists. Service is efficient and quick. Would recommend stopping by.

Great Option If You Are At Universal!

By misopiso88 |

We were visiting Universal and decided to exit the park into CityWalk for dinner. We opted for Wasabi because it seemed like the nicest option for a meal. Food was excellent and we enjoyed ordering one of the flaming rolls. Highly recommend if you are looking for a more upscale option.

Great Sushi but a bit pricey

By Longhorns96 |

Sushi was great- try the terminator Roll if you like spice! Right in Universal City so everything is close. For 3 of us it was $135 for a few rolls, app, and a couple Sakis. I recommend it

If you're trapped at City Walk and want a good meal, this is the place.

If you're trapped at City Walk and want a good meal, this is the place.

Not worth it

By David C |

Service was average: waited a lot to have water and our meals. Food was okay until I found a piece of plastic in one of the roll. Mentioned it… not even an apology

Generic

By freemaee |

The service was friendly and the ambiance nice, but the menu is very generic. I think that City Walk needs another Japanese place. I friendly competition will be nice. I will probably not go back.

Good Udon/Ramen and friendly service

By wolfverine |

Wanted a break from burgers/pizzas and decided to try this. Udon is nice and spongy the way we like it. BBQ short ribs were delicious and the servers were helpful and friendly.

Fresh sushi at CityWalk

By Liz B |

After seeing Star Wars at the AMC IMAX, we took our son and daughter-in-law to Wasabi for her birthday dinner. The food seemed fresh, but the service was cold and hurried. When the bill was delivered, it was just plunked down at the table with no follow up as how the meal was. Uneventful meal. Just average.

Not as good as its other locations

By hd91364 |

I work near Wasabi's other two locations on Wilshire Boulevard and buy sushi from there for lunch frequently, since it's great food at a great price, and everyone is so friendly. No wonder the Universal City Walk location was empty when we walked in on what was clearly a busy Sunday for City Walk. The food is tasteless and mediocre and the prices double that of their other locations. For example, the usually delicious rainbow roll was sadly lacking the selection of seafood used at Wilshire South. What was included was dry and had no flavor. The tempura dishes were greasy and the teriyaki salmon was possibly cooked from frozen. The staff could have cared less and were clearly irritated to have to serve the five of us.

yummy food and vanessa rocks

By KDSVA |

The food here is really good (love the chicken/salmon combination, sushi, and banana tempura dessert...yummy).... and our server VANESSA absolutely rocks!! The first time we were lucky enough to get Vanessa. The next time, we made sure we requested her. She is awesome, she goes out of her way to make sure we have a good visit each time and really makes the experience for us. Check out Wasabi and ask for her! Maybe we'll see you there!

Good outdoor seating right near the Citywalk center

By mboileau |

As noted in the title, for me the best thing about this restaurant was its prime location on CityWalk with outdoor seating and a view of the center stage and large video screen. The food was adequate but I've had far better Japanese food at many other local restaurants. The atmosphere is nice and the service was great.

Great Sushi but Pricey

By Vince A |

Hit this place up every time I stay at The Sheraton Universal. The sushi rolls are excellent, sashimi portions are great. As o begin to gush over how good the food is I remember why I always think of skipping this place. The price. A bit pricey. Definitely good but a bit pricey.

EAT HERE IF YOU LIKE SUSHI

By lucke107 |

this place at universal city walk. prepare to pay 10 bucks for parking, or visit when your on one of the hollywood/universal bus tours. the food was awesome. we had 4 plates and the calamari and only spent 60 bucks.

I am still baffed!!!

By viewsfromliz |

Hello....:) I visited Wasabi on Citywalk a year ago. The food was good. The prices were ok....I tipped u well.....However,,,, I am still baffed...........................why?!!! ok..... So basically, my husband and I wanted to eat in your place and the girl at the front said you were too busy therefore we sat outside the property, viewed the menu extensively and after one hour we were allowed in the property. ....When we were in there the property was nearly empty. We enjoyed our meal and tipped well....I can conclude now you/ the waitress must have considered us too ugly to enter your venue.....pretty cruel actually.

Good food - tourist trap service

By Bob999 |

We had some very good sushi here. My only complaint is the rushed and indifferent service from our waitress. Citywalk is a tourist area and we were treated as such.

Great Sushi and Great Service

By Dan E |

We had this for dinner one evening after leaving the studio. They have a great menu of sushi rolls. They were a good size and a little different than a lot of standard sushi places. The price was also surprisingly affordable compared to other sushi restaurants. Its definitely worth checking out if you like sushi and want a quick snack or a larger dinner.

Good rolls, great service

By KingAldo |

I was looking sushi restaurants around Hollywood and I decided to give them a shot, since is located in Citywalk I was really afraid to eat there, thinking..."tourist restaurant"! I can tell you, we had three different rolls, great price and tasty rools, give them a shot for a casual lunch or dinner, you won't be dissapointed.

Very Nice Sushi Restaurant

By James B |

Stopped here after a day at Universal Studios. The food was very good quality and the service was very efficient.

So-So Sushi

By John Milton B |

One of the better stops for food on City Walk but nothing to write home about. There's much better sushi available down the road on Ventura, but it's acceptable, if overpriced.

Good sushi but not many choices!

By VolsFanForever |

We ate at Wasabi after finishing a day at Unuversal. We enjoyed the outdoor dining and people-watching. We only ordered sushi and were surprised by the limited choices. The service was good but a little slow. The sushi was good but nothing spectacular. However, it was great to have something other than theme park food.

Good food and service

By Ann M |

Lunch during a day at Universal studios. We had the California roll sushi and Tempura battered Vegi appetizer. Both were very good.

Delicious food.

By thisgirl_Gray |

Visited here with a friend for a late lunch. I love this place because the food is consistently delicious. It was slightly busy because it was a Saturday, but the wait was approximately 45 minutes so we passed the time in the City Walk stores. The meal was good. We got miso soup, vegetable tempura, dragon rolls, Hollywood rolls, and the TNT tuna rolls. The only issue we had is that I am allergic to avocados and the menu did not say the TNT rolls had avocado. So I had to alert the server after the food came. The manager came over and had the chef make me a new plate with the avocado omitted, which I appreciated. The rolls here are delicious and filling. Will definitely be back again as always.

Great experience & sushi!!!

By Marites8 |

We were looking for something different and saw the place when we were exploring Universal Studios Citywalk. The restaurant looked appealing from the outside, the prices were reasonable and noticed the quiet atmosphere so we decided to try it. Everyone in the restaurant were very friendly and accommodating. We were served by a wonderful waitress "Evelyn". She welcomed us, had a great sense of humor and explained the menu wonderfully. What really impressed us was when she took the time to provide a gadget to one of us so we could learn how to use the chopstick. We were very impressed with this....it showed that Evelyn cared for her customers. The restaurant was clean, food tasted great, it was very fresh, great quality, portions were average and prices were within reason (we had sushi). There were other choices in their menu such as salad, miso soup, tempura and of course sushi! We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend this place and Evelyn to everyone!

Average

By Travel3Kids |

The Sushi was good but not exceptional. The service was incredibly slow. Did enjoy the quieter atmosphere and food after Universal park.

Never coming back

By Rachael |

Horrible customer service and long wait times for food. The waiter completely forgot a dish and didn’t do anything to fix the situation. Subpar food for the price point

Sushi or not that is the question!

By Bradley1965 |

This is City Walk so my expectations of great sushi are somewhat slighted upon entering the park. For no other reason than I've rarely had many good dining experiences here. That being said the sushi was fresh with some slight complexity, tuna, scallop, mackerel, salmon. The wasabi had almost no flavor? I didn't think that was possible. Though all in all it was a pretty good experience. Now, this where it falls a bit short. The service was distant and scattered. It wasn't busy and they just were going through the motions. No real intent to give a experience or share the best of what they have on the menu. I would think that since I was only ordering sushi the server would have presented the market price of the Toro on the menu? I hate to say it was just another nice little restaurant in a theme park...way too LA.

Don't bother

By Organic21 |

Our service was poor and slow. Our food was disappointing. We ordered a sampler plate of sushi. When we finally got it, it was very little sushi and mostly sashimi. It tasted like sushi from a refrigerated case. We will not be returning.

Ramen for the win!

By Leanne Culina-Penza |

We were craving some ramen during our trip (my go to tasty food) and Wasabi was our saving grace. Their pork ramen was super tasty, with a full taste and great sized serve, The meat was tender and the broth was thick and filling. Exactly what we were looking for. We left full and satisfied. The pricing for ramen was pretty standard from what we would normally pay, so that was nice too.

Still sick

By Bobinlahaina |

Been throwing up since I got home. Being on the industry I’ve had sushi all over the world and this did me in. Management please reach out to remedy the poor food handling practices I observed.

Good food and great service !

By Bidibaron |

We were also afraid that this restaurant is a very tourist restaurant as it is located at Universal Citywalk. But the food was really good and service was very friendly. We had different rolls and chicken and beef teriyaki. Only the shrimp tempura was only average. The value for money was okay. I would recommend the restaurant if you want to eat something after an exhausting day in the Universal Studios. But there are definitely better options in L.A.

Sushi Tonight

By Barbara F |

Gracious service and lovely sushi rolls in a nice atmosphere. Had it been warmer we would have dined outdoors. Prompt service and friendly.

Excellent service, fresh food

By MAConvert |

The food tasted very fresh, and there was a nice selection of sushi. The servers were very friendly, and our order arrived promptly. We had a great experience.

Tasty fresh food

By jackie c |

Found the food to be very tasty and fresh, they overdid the Gyoza a bit but it was still edible, I loved the Rib-eye Sashimi $13, our total bill with one beer each and 4 sushi dishes was $59.76, I thought it was good value, the portion size was good, the service was decent, we stopped by having been at universal all day, the restaurant has a good outdoor seating area, with heaters to keep you warm.

Great sushi and great service

By Guido65 |

We tried this place while visiting Universal Studios Hollywood and enjoyed the sushi and the sushi Chef Lee. She was very informative and created a special sushi based questions she asked us. The sushi was fresh and delicious. Service was good and the manager came by to check on us during our visit. If you like sushi and are at Universal Studios give this place a try. Very busy at night and sometimes requires a wait. Restrooms were clean and well stocked.

Yummy

By Kathy K |

Great sushi place that delivered delicious sushi. It was not overpriced like many of the food places on the Citywalk. Loved our time there.

Wasabi Universal City Walk

By Globetrotting C |

Great fresh sushi and sashimi. Massive portions. We had Uni (sea urchin) soft shell crabs , dynamite roll , crispy salmon skin rolls. Good service and great location

Ramen

By Jennifer D |

Was surprised that they served ramen. It was pretty good. They only have one kind which was ok. We were satisfied with the shrimp tempura, sashimi and chicken teriyaki that we ordered. Servers were attentive. They had outdoor seating which was good at night as the park closes. One can people watch while enjoying the food. It was also affordable considering that it is located in CityWalk. Beats eating all the overpriced junk food that's commonly sold around.

Great food, expensive

The food was excellent, a large variety and well prepared. The prices were high. We went with friends and had a 5 year old, 10, year old and 17 year old. They were all happy with the food, but be careful to check the hot spicy content of each item before ordering.

Exit the park to eat

Nice find Not far from the park and much cheaper than in the park It’s simple but there’s nothing wrong except happy hour until 5pm

Sushi

By Hitcher84 |

This is a sit down restaurant on Universal Citywalk. If you are visiting, it is a decent option for a meal. Sushi and teriyaki mostly. Sushi rolls start at around $6 with specialty rolls around $15. The gyoza starter was pretty good. We stopped by on a weekday afternoon when it was not very busy and there was nobody at the door to seat us for quite a while. Service inside was ok. If you are on the Citywalk and want some Japanese food, it is a serviceable option.

Top Recommendation in Universal Studios' Citywalk

By Heiko de Vries |

After the Universal Studio Tour, we went on the Citywalk just beyond the exit of Universal Studios and looked for shops and restaurants. We chose Wasabi (Sushi Tempura) and were not disappointed: Good and friendly as well as fast service, good quality of typical Japanese food (from soup to sushi platters to dessert). Everything was right - we were very satisfied!
